Photographed a wedding here ober the weekend. The church was beautiful. With stained glass throughout. The priest was very personable and friendly. We were limited on time, so used the outdoor space on the side of the church for additional photos.

Wedding there today and very nice church. Parking is a little problem because you have to park on the street.

Although I am not a parishioner, members of my family are. We have had weddings and baptisms and the pictures and spectacular. We had a baptism there this weekend and the priest made it so special and personal. In this new normal of wearing masks, it is comforting to have the familiar prayers and traditions continue and to have life and hope. It was beautiful.

St. John’s has been serving the people of God in a residential area of Yonkers for over 100 years. Ever since the parish was established by the Archdiocese of New York in 1903, St. John’s has been preaching and teaching the gospel, administering the sacraments, and helping to meet the spiritual, religious, and pastoral needs of the community.

This is a lovely little old church, flanked with angels on the ceiling beams and a giant organ area up in a balcony. My grandfather's funeral mass was held here. Even though my grandfather was not from this parish, Deacon Nick took a lot of time getting to know who my grandfather was so he could give a eulogy that would do him justice. To say what he wrote was beautiful is an understatement. I felt at peace in this church and truly grateful to have met someone as special as this Deacon.

Graduated St. John’s School in 1978, and parishioner from 1970 until 2007. Fond memories of kind and nurturing teachers, priests and nuns, e.g. Monsignors Quinn and Flynn, Father John Woolsey, Tom Esposito, Mary Danner, Alice Bakker, Pat Brandt, Mrs. Colombini and Sisters Margaret Mary and Teresa (principals) and Sister Ruth, the school secretary. Fellow students included Frank Utner, Darlene Stanley, Marie Marino and Gino Presta.

My first time in this church, unfortunately it was for a funeral, but it is magnificent. The service and the choir were outstanding.
