After stepping away from church for several years, I decided it was time to explore new and different opportunities in hopes of finding a more fulfilling community; one that supported and reflected my own beliefs and convictions. Having two children, I was hoping to find an inclusive and affirming church that shares God’s love for ALL people – regardless of who we are, we are all equal, all deserving of acceptance, and all worthy of love. I stumbled across Glendale’s website and was surprised to see a church in Nashville that seemingly embodied those same values. I immediately felt connected, felt accepted and have made some amazing friends. I found Glendale when I needed it most and feel so lucky and proud to be a part of this church. Thank you for making me feel welcome.

After moving back to Nashville, I knew it was time to return to church. Growing up, I attended a couple of other nearby local United Methodist churches. Despite a wonderful experience, I was ready to find a new faith home so I decided to give Glendale a try. I was overwhelmed by how welcoming Glendale was to everyone who walked though the door and immediately knew I found my new church family. I am so grateful for the friends I have made here.

I have a bit of a history with Glendale. From the age of 10-13 my family attended here where I served as an acolyte. My passion and purpose are as advocate, ally and fighter for equality and justice. I was drawn back to Glendale because of its inclusive and loving nature. I had seen Glendale at Pride and heard that it was affirming and reconciling. But it wasn’t until I met an active member that was a friend of my son, when I felt God’s shoulder tap that it was time to come back. He, son's friend, invited me to visit and his warmth along with so many others made me realize that I had found my people. I feel love every time I walk through the door. This is a special place! I am so thankful to be back at Glendale.

I found a place at Glendale UMC. The congregation is warm, friendly, and accepting. The best word I can use to describe Glendale UMC is authentic. I feel free to be myself and am accepted for who I am and where I am on my life's journey. I never thought I would be active in a church again, but Glendale UMC changed my mind.

Glendale has become my church home in just a few months. I've never felt such an uplifting and accepting atmosphere in a church before I came to Glendale. The whole 'come as you are' thing is really meant here. Glendale is welcoming of everyone no matter what. Open hearts, open minds, open doors, really, especially here at Glendale. Glendale is incredibly accepting! My family was looking for a church after every one we’ve been to was either not accepting, or felt like just a collection of strangers. Glendale is the exception, though. Everyone is so kind and welcoming, and it truly feels like a family! I absolutely love it here!

A truly affirming and inclusive congregation that has become like family. It has been amazing to see the turnaround from a few years ago, when attendance had dwindled to a dozen on Sundays, to 2020 (well, pre-Covid; we are online at the moment! :-) when we are blessed with a beautifully diverse, comfortably full sanctuary. What a gift to be part of a church where every child of G*d really is welcome.

The outdoor labyrinth here is a lovely one ringed by four benches and four magnolias. The downside is that in summertime it can be hard to see the path.
