Reviews of Assumption Church
I absolutely love this parish!! We moved here nearly 6 years ago and we have finally landed at a parish we truly feel welcomed at and are fed what our faith is really about. The community in the parish is like I've never experienced as a life long Catholic. Fr. Price has strong homilies. Fr. Kirk is precious and offers to hear confessions during mass. I'm so happy I decided to give TLM a try. Tradition to the core here. I can't wait to get into the church once tornado repairs are complete but we are so grateful we are able to celebrate the mass even with it being a packed house in a room we are fortunate to celebrate in. Those who come to Assumption are here because it is an environment of truly traditional Catholicism. I really could go on and on. I just can't say a bad thing about Assumption.
A church that feels traditionally Catholic to its core. Beautiful to see. I've been seeking something of this sort for years, and I am truly happy I found it. Church currently under construction, but masses are still held across the street in a hall. Place is packed every Sunday. So many families, and young people.
Absolutely beautiful parish with a very active and enviting congregation. The parish has a very historic campus as well. The 8:30 Sunday Latin Mass is beautiful, and is something to experience if you are visiting town. Mass is always preceded with ample confession time, and a rosary just before Mass. It is located in Germantown, in a safe, clean neighborhood, close to downtown and the farmers market. There are many families young, and old. Fr. Fitzgerald is a blessing to have there.
While preparing for a trip to Nashville I sought out information on local parishes. While my first instinct was to go to the Cathedral I had somebody online recommend Assumption because of the 8:30am Latin Mass. I definitely have a spirituality best fulfilled by the Extraordinary Form, so this was music to my ears. I had *assumed* (ha) from the time of my planning to the time I arrived that at 8:30 there would have only been a Low Mass, but I was happily wrong. I was blessed to experience a Sung High Mass in a church filled almost to the brim - mostly with young families. The sermon was excellent as well, invigorating exposition of the readings which both informed and inspired.
It's a testament to both the fruits of pastoral work as well as the grace of God that such a wonderful community can exist. Definitely come to Assumption if you're traveling, or even if you're just interested in Catholicism.
Pax! ✌
Our family was fortunate to visit and attend a High Latin Mass at Assumption. What a fantastic parish! Very welcoming people - it was packed with families and was standing room only. Experience the beauty and reverence of the TLM at this gem of Nashville. Hope to visit again and would highly recommend.
Open all day if you want to stop in a pray or light a candle for someone. The indoors of this church is amazing. The paintings of Jesus and the blessed mother Mary are breathtaking. Good place to stop in on your lunch break and just sit in peace. It also has an amazing organ and if your lucky you might hear the organist on any given day. ****Update. There is a new priest at this awesome church but unfortunately he's begun locking the front doors most all of the time. Once the side door was left open and I was able to get in and enjoy my time of prayer and lighting a few candles and spent some quiet time with God. I wish the new priest would leave the church open at least a couple hours for people to come in and pray and do what they used to be able to do. It makes me sad. It's such a beautiful church that's been there for the people for hundreds of years.
The Assumption Church is undergoing renovation and the work is nearing completion. My friends who had come for attending the services on the Palm Sunday in the nearby Parish Hall informed that the main building of the Church was destroyed extensively during a tornado which occurred an year ago.I intend to visit the Church on completion of the renovation. The Church is very visibly and conveniently situated at German Town at Nashville and it is having a great traditional appearance.
Wow! This parish reminded me of my parish back home in Kansas! Beautiful mass, beautiful music, ad Orientum, no feminist radicalism! I travel a lot and I have to admit I have walked out of mass before because its was as if I never left the Episcopal Church (I'm a convert)! One thing I've ran into a lot with older priests is that they are more concerned with the environment than the souls of people!! I didn't experience that here!! Keep up the good work!!
A beautiful church. Mass as it should be, with reverence for the miracle of the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. You can't enter this church and not know you are in God's house. If you are looking for the "church of nice" with diluted down theology and protestant praise elements injected into the Mass, this is not the church for you.
