Reviews of Basilica of Saint Mary
It's a magnificent structure. The interiors are exquisite. Tastefully designed with care taken to the minutest detail. It's a feast for the eyes. Beautiful House of worship. Everyone should visit the Basilica of St. Mary once in their lifetime.
I was visiting from another state. We went there for the 9:30 AM mass on the Feast of Christ the King (2022). It was a heavenly experience with the massive architecture, relevant homily, angelic choir, and solemn Eucharistic celebration.
A beautiful, wonderful amazing Basilica. The architecture is soaring, breathtaking and massive. The choir voices sound like angels, so calming and relaxing. The messages are relevant and uplifting. We are God's children, our sins have been wiped clean. Share love and kindness with everyone.
Amazing place! Wife and I visited it for Christmas mass and it was just spectacular. The architecture and art are very beautiful truly a masterpiece dedicated to God
Beautiful Basilica, the sculpture, the architecture is really awesome. The painings are amazing, the atmosphere just for worship. Happy to be here.
Beautiful place with amazing statues and stained glass windows. Should visit as it is one of the oldest churches in the area.
Magnificent stained glass. Impressive architecture. THE FIRST Basilica in the US.
Absolutely lovely. Attended a wedding and it was beautiful. You can't see the bride and groom or wedding party as they are too far away, but the location is incredible. Free parking on the weekend on the west parking ramp under the freeway. First basilica in the US!!!! WOW!
awesomw place to visit during off hours, so that you can look around and have time to pray at the various saints they have throughout the Basilica.
This Basilica is beautiful through and through! Staff, parishioners, everyone. Fun fact: Basilica of Saint Mary is the first Basilica in America!
Always a fantastic moving experience attending their concerts. Boys choir of Montserrat was no exception! Gorgeous Basilica with good acoustics. Appreciated extra security when parking under the interstate.
Beautiful place, enter with respect, after all it's a temple of faith and prayer. There is no objection for taking pictures inside, just be aware in case of a service or event happening (mass, funerals, weddings, etc). The art is everywhere around you, I was in awe. Highly recommend it, feel free to go inside with your family. All are invited. It is a Roman Catholic minor basilica, the first one in the USA. An important landmark that you can not miss.
Basilica is open 7 days a week. Masses are posted outside on the Marquis. this is a functioning basilica when I was there they were actually serving the public and had security on site. Mother Teresa room is for helping the needy, but they have photos with stories that is so beautiful it brings you to tears. The basilica itself is gorgeous. You have the option to make a donation to light a candle. I was quite disappointed to see people lighting candles without making any kind of contribution. It was well kept it was clean it was safe it was beautiful well-manicured.
Such a HUGE place. It was very fascinating to me. Everytime I passed through the high way close to this cathedral I wanted to visit this place. Finally I was able to, and loved it.
Went there few more times, it is peaceful when there is no mass, can just sit there in silence.
Apart from that, they have a huge organ, even larger than the one in James J Hill's house. The details in the cathedral were amazing, this was my first time I saw stained glass work so close.
Good visit.
I am a bit biased here as I am a parishioner and a mother of children in the faith formation school but I absolutely love the Basilica and its community. Not only is it the first Basilica in the new world and so possesses stunning architecture that elevates one into their contemplation of what we can do when we do it in the service of God, but it is Rich with community outreach, volunteer opportunities, and genuine people who want to help. From The amazing liturgical coordinator Travis, to the amazing School staff like Kelli and Ben, we have felt welcomed and truly a part of a very large community. Our favorite priest is father Joe and he is the one that really brought us to the parish. There are lots of mass times and fellowship and opportunities to get involved. A very diverse and unique place.
Its a beautiful and peaceful church to be at please visit while in Minneapolis.Loved the architecture.please check their website for mass and open hours
Amazing architecture. Sky high ceilings, fully air conditioned and so quiet.
It was so beautiful. The architect was amazing, the lighting the stained-glass windows were amazing. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
They help pay for my birth certificate and the renewal of my license to give out bust tokens and they have a small clothing closet it's an essential place to go if you need those things that I mentioned or if you're homeless and in need of resources.
A must visit when in the area. Solemn and beautiful. 🙏🏾 …
The Basilica of Saint Mary is incredibly beautiful! The stonework and architecture are breathtaking. Inside are many beautiful stained glass windows. The detailed artwork on the ceiling and throughout the Basilica left me in awe. I felt a great sense of peace as I sat in a pew. I highly recommend a quiet self-guided tour!
This was the most amazing beautiful and had the most gracious people I've ever met in my life. I didn't have the address as I headed out. I could tell it was going to rain so i wore my red poncho and followed the biggest Church Steeple. It took me about 20 minutes or so to get there and before arriving the rain downpours. Every door I go to says go to another one and finally a man let's me in and leads me into the church where instantly in awe and wonder. I took a video I hope it posts here. I was in shock and tears and I want to personally thank BOB for his kindness in giving me a voucher for a pair of shoes "especially since mine were soaked-"and some socks plus a beautiful pouch with a dry shirt 👕 in it. Plus a voucher for my Minnesota Identification. Thank you to all the volunteers there and the security. Those are the kind of people we need in this world. The Lord is always good and He guides me in the right direction.
Such a beautiful basilica! The architecture and design is breathtaking. I love that they are open during the day and you can freely tour or sit and pray. A great historical stop in Minnesota.
Attended a wedding here... holy, serene and other-wordly feeling!
My first time here, you can see and feel something in the church that lifts up your spirits. Yes I'll be back. I'll make this my church ⛪️. 🙏😇 …
This is my faith home, and it has welcomed me with open heart and mind. It is a Catholic Church, but not one stuck in the dogma of the past. It is about a community of people trying to bring light into the world. It has made me a better person and provided me spiritual foundation that helps me in my day to day life. Come see for yourself.
Was there for the blessing of the animals loved it I used to live close went to church there and my most favorite time was Xmas mass this was 25 years ago
The architecture on this church is absolutely stunning. Such a beautiful place to worship. Small parking lot but there’s a garage across the street.
The Basilica of Saint Mary is breath taking. There is an overwhelming sense of peace and the architecture is reminiscent of European basilicas!
Beautiful place to visit. I have been going here for years. A must see.
Beautiful, soothing and spiritual and so very welcoming. My favorite space is the side altar to St. Therese. The weekday noon Mass is a perfect chance to re-center. The annual Basilica Block Party has no equal.
Didn't go inside but bypassed while walking to the nearby sculpture garden, I wasn't sure of the history at first, but was immediately captivated by the architecture of such a magnificent building and had to take a closer look.
Very impressive, and would recommend it for visual alone.
Amazing, I'm so happy I made time to visit this beautiful catholic church. The art and architecture is a sight to behold, whether religious or not, it's breath taking.
Great place to visit. Recommend even if you are not religious.
Truly a remarkable place to visit!..just a few minutes from the Greyhound bus stop, this is a place to see if you were to spend some time before your next trip..the facade and interiors scream of beatuy and if you ever happen to visit during mass, just know that you are in for a treat!
A thing of architectural beauty - could not be built today. Whether you are Catholic or not it is worth the visit.
An architectural beauty. People are friendly and the services are wonderfully done. One of the best catholic churches I’ve been in the US. Enter with respect!
This is one beautiful Catholic Church. I have more pictures on my FB page "Catholic Faith in Pictures"
Thanks
A magnificent place! Attended the morning mass on Christmas day. The music was mind blowing. Like it every bit!
What a stunning place. The architecture is literally breath taking and the attention to detail is unparalleled.
Well kept clean services are well organized. Pathway weekly get together is good Meal is provide. Employees are pleasant. There lot of programs for people with needs. I go every Thursday to Pathway. Beautiful Basilica of St Mary. I been attending Thursday Pathway for last ,10 yrs and counting. Amen
Serene and quiet. Beautiful architecture and stunning stained glass windows.
Beautiful church. Definitely worth a visit.
Looks like parking can be an adventure at times, but there are 2 parking areas nearby so don't be too concerned. But bring pocket change for those!
Very beautiful church inside and out. Truly stunning
Beautiful church with a great history. Take time to read the guide and look at the stained glass. Bathrooms are 2 floors below if you need them.
Beautiful basilica. We visited during the exhibition of the sculpture "Angels Unawares", which added an extra layer of enjoyment.
Street Voices of Change every Friday 830-10am I facilitate a group for those homeless and encampments free breakfast, bus tokens and housing resources and a chance to network snd make your voice count. Any decision about "US" must be made by "US".
Nice church and you must visit if you want into architecture or spiritual things.
Magnificent architecture and sculpture!
Absolute presence of the almighty within.
Absolutely stunning! I traveled here from NY and this is one of the most beautiful Basilica!!
Basilica Block Party was the bomb, again! 2019 was the year of Jason Mraz. Let's just say it was amrazing!
Attended a friend's funeral. He was a musician. Fittingly, the lighting dimmed for the service. The priest said it seemed broken, then made a joke about it. 10/10 would recommend for Catholics. Also welcoming of interfaith guests at services like funerals and weddings. If you're looking for services of other faiths or denominations, you're probably not going to find those at the Basilica (because, you know, it's a Catholic church).
Great Place to Visit
Really fun to walk around and see this huge building. Lots of parking nearby.
Amazing, speechless.
My 15 year old Granddaughter was confirmed with her brother as her sponsor.
Incredible architecture and craftsmanship. Just beautiful.
I won't go back they have no good service
The church in itself was absolutely beautiful. The wait was not long at all . The staff was so friendly and nice. They helped my boyfriend and I so much. I love this place . The paintings on the wall were absolutely beautiful.
Great place to Visit
A beautiful stone basilica on the edge of downtown Minneapolis. The main doors tend to be locked but on some afternoons the side doors are open. It is just an incredible structure and worth going inside if open.
Beautiful historic site and place of worship. Tour following worship was insightful and meaningful.
Amazing architecture. Tartarian looking for sure!
America's 1st basillica holding an atmosphere of peace and stability.
Gorgeous church! I felt like I was in another world.
A very beautiful church with nice and friendly people inside
Really beautiful architecture and history.
Absolutely beautiful, breath taking in fact. All services are stunning. D.H.O.H friendly. The Kantor sang wonderfully.
Wonderful Christmas Eve mass amazing building
Very impressive. Bench was a bit small for bigger guy like me, but very impressive for a church right on border of downtown MSP. Wish there was more parking allocated to the church bit nothing to complain.
I love the beautiful place. I love the staff.
Joyful Service. The women singing were terrible. Thank you Lord.
The Basilica is the heart and soul of Minneapolis with all that it does for its residence that come to it for peace food assistance love and prayer. It’s not the building it’s the people that come there every day to do their work to help prepare hearts and souls for the Lord!
Very beautiful Christmas mass. Father Bauer gives a meaningful sermon. I enjoy attending the Basilica and feeling the peace of the Lord.
Absolutely stunning inside, I nearly lose my breath when I stare around in awe. We went for Ash Wednesday service last night, and was amazed at how organized it was! Everyone followed the safety protocols in place, and it all seemed so smooth.
Oldest basilica in the United States, just west of downtown Minneapolis and next to I-94.
Self-guided tours are available with a simple, yet thorough brochure. Sit in a pew to take it all in and catch your breath in the hush of the sanctuary.
Exquisitely beautiful.
Parking: For those visiting from out of state, be warned that Minneapolis refers to parking garages as "ramps." There is an exit ramp with parking underneath to the west side; however, there are "restricted parking" signs posted there. Perhaps it requires secret handshakes? Instead, take the street around the backside of the basilica one block to a parking "ramp" (garage) owned by the Minneapolis Community & Technical College. Public parking is permitted for $5 per entry, which is remarkably cheap.
Great architecture. Just a good place to visit for anyone, not just Christians
I actually have never been inside, I am not a religious person & have a poor view of the catholic "faith" however, I do come here to pray and meditate often. The building/grounds/energy that makes up the Basilica compound, just draws you in & reminds me at least, that God does in fact live in the people whom create such places as this .
The quality of the service and the music is commendable.
They are so friendly and generous with how they provide support for low income and homeless individuals. It was great to see the empathy they exhibited towards the guests in need while at the Shoe Ministry. This was a great day for the people I brought to get shoe vouchers, they walked out of there with much more than they could've imagined.
Gorgeous building and stained glass. Fantastic statues and architectural details throughout. Community is friendly and the wide election of Sunday Masses fit any schedule. Very welcoming place. Sunday services also have phenomenal music!
Beautiful church. Wonderful service.
Beautiful architecture and statues. Cool place to visit just for the building itself
Beautiful church. Volunteers inside really helpful and knowledgeable. They do coffee and sandwiches for homeless people and lots more for the community.
I don't find all churches have such a welcoming atmosphere to visitors, this was great.
My 1st. Basilica church, it was so beautiful, architectural was wow, put it on the list to see. !!!
We were there for granddaughters Confirmation. Wish the sound was a little better, but could be old people's problems
Beautiful Basilica. Would recommend getting a guide which can be picked up at the front of the Church for a 2 dollar donation. Highlights for me were the stained glass, the organ, and the altar area. Also, there are different types of nativity scenes set up throughout the Church. There is parking in the back, and plan to spend 30 minutes to see everything.
Beautiful Church to visit, 1st time seeing it, inside get better, the details and all around it all detailed, I will be back again to visit
Absolutely beautiful. Went there when I was in grade school. Recently went back and it’s still just as beautiful.
A 150 year old cathedral! A place with peace
The Basilica of Saint Mary is a beautiful old church. It is well maintained a still an active site of worship. The church has an ornate ceiling and amazing stained glass windows. It is quiet and peaceful upon entering. If you walk all the way to the back of the Church, you can see the large pipe organ, which extends most of the height of the wall with angel statues around it. It is well worth seeing. The amount of care and detail in everything is wonderful to see.
A very beautiful and impressionable piece of architecture and art. It was very breath taking walking into the building and seeing the amazing art and layout of the church. Even if you are not a part of the Christian/Catholic religion, if you are into old world art and architecture, take a quick walk around the building; you won't regret it.
Very beautiful cathedral and service. After the Mass, tours of the history and architecture of the church are given. I saw brochures of their social action programs for community involvement. Downstairs, I saw an amazing exhibition of sculptures based on a passage from Holy Scripture. Excellent facilities for exhibitions, activities, classes.
A beautiful, welcoming Basilica. Ornate architecture, and friendly ushers and greeters for every Mass. They have frequent Masses. Their Easter Vigil service is very theatrical. I personally did not enjoy that aspect; however, I suspect many others do enjoy it. Either way, it is somewhat darker inside than the Cathedral of St. Paul, which I kind of enjoy, as it feels more calm and intimate.
It was wonderful! 10/10 would recommend amazing volunteers helped us out every step of the way! Amazing mass and very organized! The kids did great and it was adorable! Try it out for yourself, anybody can volunteer and be a part of mass!
The home of a vibrant congregation, with a mission of outreach to the community, the Basilica of St. Mary is a place to visit, if not arrange a docent-led tour. With an important history locally and nationally, the church building tells its witness to Mary in its gorgeous stained-glass windows in the two-story nave. The church is filled with iconography on every door panel and wall niche. Furthermore, the church has international worship manifestations, from Our Lady of Guadalupe to a Madonna and Child from Vietnam. This is a church you will want to visit more than once.
Great art and architecture. If you catch a service their choir is top notch.
This is a beautiful welcoming church with a harmonious choir and sermons that are relevant to the times and religious doctrines.
Always an inspiration to attend Mass here.
Friendly and inviting. A big church that feels warm and welcoming.
This the oldest Basilica in the USA. You should also go to the Cathedral of St. Paul which is close by in St. Paul, MN.
This was my first time at the block party, and I can't believe I have been missing it all these years. The Basilica is gorgeous and to have such an event as a fundraiser for the maintenance of the structure truly is a delight.
Beautiful church that inspires and gives you peace to pray. The religious art on the stain glass windows allow plenty of light and invites the visitor to think and reflect about life.
An awesome place to go for a variety of functions with an emphasis on praising the one and only our Lord Jesus Christ!
Went with a friend for one of their programs. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful. The church is absolutely beautiful. The only reason for four stars instead of five is because I haven't attended Sunday service there.
Beautiful catholic church with many different mass times to choose from. Id recommend sitting closer to front because it can be hard to hear as the inside is massive
I've been part of this catholic group for awhile now I want God to keep me...AMENi want this congregation to teach me how to stay. AMEN
Beautiful historic church. We attended the Sinfonia concert there and it was amazing!
So beautiful!! I've never been to a more gorgeous church, ever!!
As Father Bauer begins each Mass he says "Whatever brings you here. Wherever you are in your faith journey welcome!" This is the best chruch! One of our extended family members (an avid church goer) attended and said "That was the first time I had ever felt like I attended church!" Because of the music, the homily & the people the entire experience is elevated & thus holy.
So as a Catholic who visited Minneapolis, I just had to see this co-cathedral for the Archdiocese of Minneapolis-St. Paul. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I got to attend Mass in the basement chapel there at noon when I was there the one day on my visit. Wonderful architecture. So, you don't have to be Catholic to enjoy the architecture of this historical landmark and architectural gem that honors The Greatest Woman Who Ever Lived, Jesus' mother Mary.
Helped me get a id
Something that I could not afford otherwise
I'm so very grateful
There is a lot of beauty inside this place. It draws a big crowd,so maybe we shouldn't have been so surprised to see a number of police securing the entrances. Good close parking across from it.
Only go here for the basilica block party. It’s okay sound at the main stage by highway doesn’t have great sound. Gets to be expensive. Tickets alone are over priced. It usually has a big crowed.
Gorgeous, and soooo quiet. A great place to ponder life, and I'm not even religious. Just don't drop your phone (like I did), or you'll scare yourself and everyone else in the place (like I did).
Good and serene place, where you can spend time in silence and pray, when there is no mass or service. There is a mass every day noon at the lower level chapel. The people are good and friendly and the bascillica does a lot of good acts for people around and to the community.
The Basilica of Saint Mary is a beautiful church that I have not been to in years. I read that the Basilica suffered damage during the darkness that swept over our city in May/June 2020. I am sorry for the damage the church suffered. The church is always in my prayers.
I only visited for a moment but the Church is beautiful
Our grandson Theo was baptized there last Sunday. His parents were married there 3+ years before! Glorious place!
Cool ig
I rate extra star because this is a god house !
This basilica is extraordinary
I enjoy expending time looking at the back on the days architecture and all the datails that make that place pristine.
The location is great , a must see place no matter your religious and stop by if you are visiting
Also the cathedral at st paul are one of the best churches at the state.
This is the only church in the entire Twin Cities that actually helps people. They have mental health, job and other ministries. Although their job coaching didn't work out for me, I appreciate the fact that they were willing to help.
Well I am not catholic but going inside this place I was just stunned by its size and openess and openess, now uf I hadn't just gone to St. Pauls cathedral before this I would have siad it was the larget church I have ever been to. Both of these were gorgeous. I would recomend seeing both of these at least once in your life.
Beautiful and they have a recovery meeting every Saturday at 7:30 pm all is welcome. People there are very welcoming. Come and check it out
The people I saw here were all friendly. There where many places to spend time alone in prayer. The Mass in the middle of the day was short and in a small setting. It was lovely. The Cathertal is beautiful and tours are available. The workmanship and acatucture and artifacts here are worth a visit to see eaven if someone dosn't hold the same beliefs the beauty and artistry can be enjoyed here.
Saturday Night Live - 7:30 pm meeting (SNOMSM) is one of the best in the Twin Cities.
Good idea to get there early enough to get a good seat. Construction currently makes it a bit difficult to get to so plan accordingly - it's worth it! Enjoy!
Busy every year. Amazing music, food, and of course drinks. Year 2019 had slushy Pomegranate redbull vodkas and tequila Island red bulls slushies. They were amazing to have in 88-92+ degree weather!
Great place to visit.
Really beautiful! Very peaceful experience. 😌 …
Absolutely beautiful structure. Though I am not a Catholic, and so cannot speak to the quality of the religious services, I can attest to the majestic beauty of the sanctuary, and the incredible craftsmanship on display.
Beautiful structure!
My friend an I came in to look at the art and architecture and they were very accommodating. There was a baptism going on and they still showed us around the perimeter of the church.
Loved visiting this beautiful basilica! It's always a joy to attend Mass in a place like this and use it for its intended purpose.
Very cool architecture on this old church they've been working hard to fix it up over about the last 20 years and maintain its beauty well worth the visit to check out and find out some of the history
always help me in my time of need even make exceptions to get my needs meet
Absolutely breathtaking inside.
I facilitate a Street Voices of Change meeting every Wednesday 730am where we come up with solutions by giving a chance to make your voice count.
Beautiful church. I love the old architecture. I wasn't a fan of the presentation of the mass, but I am a more traditional Catholic. Overall, very gorgeous church and a great visit.
These people that work at the Basilica of Saint Mary's,are truly GOD'S children.
This church, and the people who attend are great people. Go VISIt it is a must
Beautifully constructed Basilica
This was so beautiful! We came in the middle of the day just to visit and look around, and I loved it. Everyone else visiting was very respectful, too.
It will take your breath away.
The architecture and stained glass pictures are sublime.
Another gorgeous church which is on a tour roster. If you are looking for more info about churches go to the Minnesota Store on Nicollet, right at the light rail boarding platform!
Very peaceful sanctuary and meaningful service. Beautiful stained glass and rose window.
Beautiful place as always 💕 …
The A.A. speakers are always great! I live the Saturday Night LIVE meetings. Saturdays at 7pm. I suggest getting there a little early to ensure a seat.
Wonderfully spiritual experience in a huge space. I felt at home.
Beautiful Church! They are very helpful to those of us less fortunate.... I, myself, have received help from the Basilica a few times. Very Grateful!❣
Such a beautiful church.
the architecture is impressive it has a lot of very beautiful work details
There are always great AA meetings held here on Saturday night's @ 7:15 called SNL. (Saturday Night Live) IF YOU ARE IN RECOVERY OR WANT TO KNOW MORE. STOP DOWN & CHECK US OUT!
Good stop for a break. Will enjoy the architecture.
Really old Catholic church at MN, USA
What better place to listen to the Minnesota Sinfonia orchestra, than the Basilica of Saint Mary. Immersed in beautiful archtecture, with wonderful acoustics beats staring at a screen any day!
A blessing to experience the basilica...amazing structure and the art displays alone are worth the trip...
The Basilica is very beautiful from the inside with an exquisite ceiling and stained glass work done on three sides. The experience is very different when the service is going on.
I always like this church. Many catholic churches are very dogmatic to the point they are are forgetting we live in a real world and the churches are dealing with human beings. This particular church is different. It is very people and community oriented.
Great place for those who need help and do not use the system
While i cant say much about it, since there was a service going on that I wasn't part of, what i did see was amazing! If you enjoy design history and architecture it is a strong recommendation!
Beautiful church. Checked in when they were rehearsing and it's magically soothing.
2017 - If asked to choose which Church to visit betwen Basilica of St Mary and Cathedral of St Paul, most would say St Paul. Most would also also say to visit both as much as possible. The basilica is amazing in it's own right and would be a top attraction in many other cities. Just like St Paul, the design in the walls and ceilings are beautifully detailed. There is pay parking under the bridge beside it. Parking is free on Sundays like St Pauls (under the bridge and the one at the opposite side). This is a good complement when you visit Minneapolis Sculpture Garden/Walker Art Center. Loring Park is also nearby.
2019/03 - We attended Mass and there was a free tour after where you could learn about the history of the building (along with some tidbits about St. Paul's Cathedral)
Wondrous place of beauty with incredible architecture. A must see.
Peace and silence to rejuvenate yourself
Took my dad here for a short prayer. Very quite and reserved.
Wonderful place to visit and pray
Place of joy and peace
Love the Basilica but the Catholic community needs more gatherings and outdoor events and more single activities, and posted mission workshop training; retirees have no place to go
Love it here. We have been going here since. I was a baby
Beautiful Church!
I love any place that spreads God's love. If I did disagree with anything I wouldn't share why it wouldn't help the cause. The goal is to glorify God in his 💜🙏💯 …
It was amazing, and beautiful stained glass all over. And the ladies who put on our lunch were wonderful.
Wonderful, I pray 🙏 and has the opportunity to appreciated a beutiful work of art. …
A beautiful place to visit.
Nice park near by. Great church for giveaways found nice professional work clothes! Helped me with my I.d for work!
AA, it’s a hook up meeting! Shower before you go!!
Beautiful church and architecture lots of details you cannot miss so walk slow and look closely.
Welcomes everyone & is musically and artistically inspiring. Our chosen to be a members since moving to Minnetonka made it close enough for membership.
Absolutely stunning architecture in the first building designated as a basilica in the United States. Definitely a must-see when in Minneapolis.
Visited the basilica for the saint Paul chamber orchestra concert gorgeous setting wonderful acoustics very much enjoyed our time
Regardless of your faith this is a extraordinary building to observe. Come on in.
I think this is the oldest church in Minnesota. It was built from sandstone quarried from nearby river bluff when such things could be done. Inside has alcoves for various saints.
The most welcoming community a person could ask for. This church feels like home and the people make you feel like family.
Always a place to Pray 🙏! …
Very beautiful and nice and helpful staff.
Awe inspiring space
So beautiful, very peaceful place for Sunday mass.
Attended one of the Christmas Eve services with family to experience a more traditional Christmas celebration. Beautiful building as well.
A very welcoming parish. The parish community actively serves the community and respects the dignity of all who enter the campus.
This church doesnt know me but they still helped me.... greatly ... when i was in need years years ago... and that help was instrumentalin my success.... God bless you all ...
Worth the visit as it
Is the first Basilica ever in the country. Not so friendly people, everybody stares and acts weird. Addicts and shady people hang out outside so beware of them when you walk around during your visit.
Beautiful but they need to use the real altar and not some ikea table with a lime green banner
Absolutely beautiful! A great place to get a moment of peace, especially in downtown.
Witnessed a beautiful wedding there today. What an amazing experience.
Such a beautiful church!
Nice building. Great supporters of the arts!
Awesome community! Great people, great pastor, great community outreach! A truly caring community! It doesn't get any better than the Basilica of St. Mary!
Beautiful basilica.
Very nice, needs to keep working on the renovation. Basilica Block Party! 🤞2021 …
Absolutely Breathtaking, Peaceful & Serene! Beautiful Statues on which to light my prayer candles!!!
The statues and stained glass windows were breathtaking. I felt like I was in a Cathedral in Rome.
Amazing Spiritual experience always. The Architecture and Art are worthy of extra time to explore!
Absolutely breathtaking. If you have a hour to spare go walk through it. You won't regret it.
They are wonderful nice talks to you about the things they can help you with. They also will give you other places to go find help. Thank you Basilica of Saint Mary.
Stunning church!!!
This place is awesome they help with getting state ID, they also help with new shoes every Saturday, they help with food , clothing and coats, hosuing ect
Gorgeous and magnificent. Went for Block Party but the church is amazing as well.
They give you a free sandwiches and coffee they really do a lot for the homeless it tells you about yours for people gas cards bus cards for people to discuss jobs they do counseling for people if you got the right credentials and $40 even set you up with a free unlimited smartphone
Stay for the 'fast pass' tour after the mass If you are in a rush or do the longer weekday tour it's very informative
Magnificent!! You should see this place.
Great architecture. You dont even have to be Catholic or any other religion to enjoy the beauty found here.
Went to mass last Sunday and it is beautiful.
Beautiful, old Catholic Church in the heart of Minneapolis. Wise and compassionate priest and wonderful singers.
Beautiful house of worship and friendly congregation.
I love this place they are very helpful they help with shoe,id,jobs, clothes, gas card and bus card for work and tokens and alot of resources
10/10 would pray here again. Seats were clean and comfortable. Parking is tricky. Try the backlot for 💯 parking. …
Nice church.
I started attending Mass here in 1985.
So sentimental value is high
Beautiful cathedral, great celebration mass; choir, organ, and music were awesome.
Just beautiful...
Just GORGEOUS!! So ornate..... one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. Stained glass for miles!
Very nice 👍, Beautiful building. If you can, you must visit and go inside …
I can believe there are so many amazing churches in Minnesota. People loves architecture, should check this place out
The most beautiful church I've ever been
Just lovely. The choir was exemplary and the church buildings were beautiful!
Excellent. The tried the best to help and treat me decent. God always provides as long as there is hope.
Love the Basilica and every time we have guests over they say it's... Breath taking!
I always find my peaceful place at a church when I travel. It is always like my home away from home when I stop and reflect
Beautiful architecture at Saint Mary in Minneapolis.
It is a beautiful church building, inside and out. Worth seeing.
I've been going to Sunday Mass for years, I feel welcome and have a sense of belonging to this community.
Beautiful church, we attended mass here during our trip to Minneapolis.
Beautiful church. Huge. I know some who works there. Very good friend.
