I sought out Simple Truth’s Chiropractic health after my wife had a very positive experience with them adjusting her during her pregnancy. I was having chronic back pain that would occasionally cause migraines as well; I rarely could sleep more than four hours without needing to get up and stretch. After just three weeks, I’m already experiencing great relief. I’m sleeping through nights with minimal or no pain upon waking. Dr. Alex and the staff I’ve interacted with are so kind and helpful! Dr. Jacob Canfield had been able to clear up two major ailments which have been plaguing me for years; chronic migraines and lower back pain. He explained thoroughly how the misalignment in my neck was the root cause of my problems. No other doctors have been able to fix the issue but within a few adjustments my problems disappeared. He actually fixed the issue and didn't just look to satisfy the symptoms. I have loved Simple Truth Chiropractic from my very first visit. I've been to several chiropractors over the last 15 years and I have a fairly extensive history in terms of spine injuries/ailments - so I know a good office when I see one! The initial evaluation was the most thorough I've ever received and I've been given much more control over my own recovery via home exercises and tools to improve my curvature where it's lacking. This is something I used to beg my former chiropractor for - instead I would get regularly scheduled adjustments for months on end. Dr.Kristin is simply amazing, from the first second you meet her she makes you feel like you’re family. My experience at Simple Truth Chiropractic has been outstanding! I had a chiropractor in the Detroit area before I moved to Grand Rapids. Roughly two months ago, I was having terrible pain in my neck, and assumed it was caused by sleeping in a wrong position. The pain continued to get worse over the course of a few days, and I was desperate for some relief. Since I was relatively new to the area, I did not have a go-to in terms of a doctor, but choose to try Simple Truth based on the company's high ratings on Google. During my first visit, Dr. Dan took my X-rays in effort to understand why I was experiencing so much pain in my neck and upper shoulders. My X-rays showed that I was dealing with Anterior Head Syndrome, or in other words, where my head is too far forward, causing extra pressure and weight on my neck and upper shoulders. Dr. Dan created a proposed plan for my treatment, and I have been going 2-3 days per week for the last month and a half. He was fantastic in walking me through my results, and explaining how the proposed treatment would help to correct my head positioning and eliminate the pain I was experiencing. I appreciated the opportunity to understand why I was experiencing this pain, as well as how treatment could help me. Many chiropractors I have been to in the past have never provided these types of explanations, and I can certainly say that it is nice to be able to understand the insight behind the scheduled visits. Since beginning my treatment, I am feeling and sleeping much better, and am much more conscious of my posture while working and driving. My shoulders and neck feel like a weight has been lifted off of them already, and I am looking forward to seeing additional improvements. In regards to Dr. Dan, he is not only a top-notch chiropractor, but he also has fantastic bedside manner. He is friendly, personable and engaging, and always makes me feel extremely comfortable. There are not many doctor appointments that I look forward to, but my appointments with him are certainly an exception. I would highly recommend giving Simple Truth a try, and asking for Dr. Dan.

I've dealt with chronic low back pain for years and thought there was little I could do to improve it. I started going to Simple Truth for upper back pain. During my first appointment, I received the most comprehensive and thorough evaluation I have ever received at a doctor's office. During the evaluation I was being educated through the whole process and the doctors took the time to explain everything in detail along the way, which I really appreciated. My adjustments were very gentle and specific and after going through the recommended care plan I soon had no upper back pain and to my surprise had significantly reduced menstrual pain. I’ve had dull back and neck pain most of my life. This summer, the pain was so significant that it was affecting my ability to participate in my job. I decided to give chiropractic care another try after a less than pleasing experience several years ago at a different location. Being in the second trimester of my first pregnancy, I didn't know what to expect when it came to pain tolerance, but I had severe pelvic pain that kept me from wanting to walk, get out of bed, or stand for long periods - basically anything that involved moving my legs. I came to Simple Truth Chiropractic in severe pain. I could hardly turn my neck to either side and everything I had tried at home - Motrin, Tylenol, heating pad - wasn't helping. I was miserable; I couldn't sleep. The pain made everything in my life difficult to do. After only a week and a half of chiropractic treatments, I noticed at least a 50% improvement. In just 3 weeks I was almost completely back to normal. Dr. Dan is fantastic - explains things thoroughly, gentle adjustments, goes over exercises and stretching very well so it's easy to understand and do. The short version: 5/5 stars well deserved. Great chiropractors. Friendly office staff. Dr. Dan and Dr. Dan will explain their whole procedures and their schools of thought, AND will just be good people. That's more than enough for me. The long version: I came to Simple Truth with severe sciatica pain running down my left leg. I was previously quite active, in shape a month before and after driving a manual car and sitting through finals in college, I quickly found myself unable to move around like I used to... for a 23 year old, this was not normal and not at all a great feeling. Dr. Dan and Dr. Alex are absolute professionals. They are truthful and honest advisers and doctors, and just a pair of great guys to boot. The front desk staff is understanding, friendly, and the entire business is a totally different, but great shift from what the "typical chiropractic practice" would usually be. I have seen them interact with the elderly, the middle aged, and even toddlers, to my amusement. Their take on chiropractic care runs parallel to the influence of the overall body on the spine and vice versa, not just your typical walk in and get cracked procedure.. Your first visit is an overview and check-up, combined with x-rays, a posture check, and the doctors go out of their way to make sure you understand how chiropractic care works. The second follow-up visit follows as soon as possible afterward, as they figure out the best version of treatment that works for your case. While 2-3 visits per week may seem overdone at first, they are working your body as much as able to be able to get you flexible and in shape once again. That length of time between visits is imperative to your well-being. With me, by the third visit in a week, I had my lower vertebrae adjusted, managed to put my 5th lumbar back into place (after 3-4 months) and had a significant increase in overall mobility... not to mention the pain radiating down my left leg was gone. From that point of "fix" the doctors prescribed a series of workouts and stretches to increase not only my flexibility, but also my retention of lumbar position. The weekly visits decreased from 3 to 2 to 1 and then every other. Had I stayed in the area, I would have continued going to Simple Truth, but the doctors were more than happy to understand my move to a completely different state. My OB referred me to Simple Truth Chiropractic when I was 33 weeks pregnant. Despite doing my best to remain active during the pregnancy, by this point I was having such severe pain in my lower back and pelvis, I could barely walk and was in constant pain even when sitting and laying down. Although I had not previously used chiropractic care and was a little nervous about doing so while being so pregnant, I was willing to try anything to get some relief! I'm one of those people who thinks/thought chiropractors are quacks, but I got real results at Simple Truth. I was having numbness, tingling, and pain in my right arm that was preventing me from working well. I went to my doctor and got a steriod (that didn't work) and was then told I would have to wait a month to get some nerve tests done. My wife set up an appointment with me at Simple Truth. After the consult I was adjusted for the first time. On the last adjustment (my neck) I felt a zing from my neck to my fingers, a bit of heat, and then I could feel again. It wasn't perfect, but over the next couple of weeks it was fixed. I was also given exercises to do to increase flexibility and strength to the muscles supporting the spine that were causing the most stress to my nerves and arm. I have been to many different chiropractors before who all do the same thing. They do some scans, tell you that it looks really awful, and you will need to come in three times a week for the foreseeable future, and possibly indefinitely! I have had really bad back pain which made me unable to sit down for long periods of time and being unable to sleep on a bed. My neck felt heavy, my shoulders tense, and my hips hurting. Everyone told me that back pain is normal and my back pain isn't so bad compared to older people (I'm only 20). When I started a janitor job at a hospital, it became worse and my work performance decreased. Many thought I was just lazy because how can someone so young have really bad back pain and act like an old lady? I went to another chiropractor and I noticed he did the same cracking constantly and did that for other patients as well. Due to his rough treatment, my back actually became worse. The pain became unbearable, so I looked online to see what other chiropractors are in Grand Rapids. I noticed this clinic had a lot of 5-star reviews so I gave it a try, even though my trust in chiropractic care plummeted after the first guy. Coming to this clinic, Dr. Jake took a gentler approach and I've seriously felt a lot better, I can walk and sit without any pain or discomfort. I don't have to lie down every half an hour to relieve my back a little bit. He told me I may have a disc problem and that if there are no improvements within two weeks, I will have to get an mri. He didn't want to mess with something that he wouldn't be able to fix if he could not improve my back just a little bit. Thank goodness it has been improving! I've had painful rebounds, so he did some muscle work to help with that and boy did those rebounds go away quick. I am not fully healed yet and push my sacrum out of alignment easily due to my physically demanding job. I know pretty soon I will get some exercises to help my back, so that's nice to look forward to. Dr. Jake really cares about my health, I'm not just a number. He has a lot of patients, I am so surprised that he can remember what to do with each patient because there is a high volume of patients and each patient has a personalized treatment. Right now, I'm having a problem at my job with coordinators telling me that chiropractors are not real doctors and I should go see a real doctor. Dr. Jake has many years of schooling and because of him, I am off of Tylenol for my back pain when I go to work. I also believe that due to the tylenol, my back became worse because I couldn't feel the pain and pain means you shouldn't push it. If you are looking for a new chiropractor, I highly recommend Dr. Jake and his staff. They are honest and will fix you up and take good care of you.

I started going to a chiropractor back in high school due to headaches. I felt that it was helpful but always felt like more of a bandaid, so I slowed and eventually stopped once I left for college. It's been about 8 years since I stopped, and was driven back after my back seized up one morning. I chose to see Dr. Dan based on a whim and online reviews and I'm very happy with my choice. The approach to care is - importantly - more than adjustments. You'll go through a quick initial consultation that allows for targeted care and - once you reach a suitable point - be given stretches and exercises to work on posture and target muscles. I went to PT last year for shoulder pain, and Dr. Dan's regimen is identical to the one I was given there. All this to say, he knows his stuff. He's always cheerful (as are all of the staff there), personable, will ask if anything new has popped up each appointment, and will walk through and explain everything he is doing. My pain was noticeably improved in a week's time, and has only gotten better since then. And everything has been in line with the transparant plan and financials that were laid out after the initial consult. I could not recommend Dr. Dan highly enough.

Went to Simple Truth Chiropractic after meeting them at a wellness expo. I've had headaches on and off for about 3 years and have tried a lot of different things. They took x-rays the first day and showed them to me on the second day. Basically, my headaches were coming from a pinched nerve in my spine. In all seriousness...I knew I needed to see a chiropractor (I had gone to one for years) for my lower back. I called and made an appointment, which couldn't be any sooner due to my schedule. Two weeks before my first appointment with Simple Truth, I had to go to the ER because the pain radiating down my legs from my lower back was making it difficult for me to walk. I was in the ER for about 3 hours and left with pain meds and muscle relaxers. Obviously, the next week was pretty good..as I was more-or-less high from those two things. Dr. Canfield took a measured approach and did an analysis before adjusting me. I came back the next week for my first adjustment. That adjustment held for about six hours and then I could feel my back slide out of place. I'm 3 weeks in (going 3x a week for now) and my back is so comfortable. I still need adjustments (I've had this problem for close to 10 years) and I can sometimes feel some tightness, but the sharp shooting pain has subsided. The adjustments, plus the massage therapy and stretches, have truly helped me to get through the days. They don't advertise a "quick fix" but they give you a plan. Follow it and you'll feel better.

I experienced a pretty serious injury to my back and I wasn't sure what was going on. My guess was that I lifted my son up the wrong way and that I pulled a muscle. It was really strange because I just woke up in crazy pain. I was sent to physical therapy for a few weeks and after they could not help me improve, my next step was a consult with a surgeon. Surgery was the LAST thing that I wanted to do so I started to ask around. What I found was that my two options were surgery or live with the pain and get used to taking pain killers. I went to Simple Truth on a recommendation from a coworker. My coworker said that his chiropractor was the only one who was able to help him overcome his longstanding migraine headaches. I went in and explained my situation and expected to be adjusted that day just as I had seen other chiropractors do in the past. Dr. Jake sent me for an MRI and when I asked why he said "Your health is too important to assume we know what's wrong with your spine... we have to know specifically what's wrong to begin to correct the problem." I liked that... don't play guessing games with my spine. The MRI showed 2 bulged discs in my lower back. Dr. Jake gave me another option to surgery... spinal decompression therapy. I have worked with Dr. Jake for the past couple of months to correct these issues. When I got to him I was not able to stand for more than 45 seconds or walk more than 40 steps without stopping to rest from the pain. I could not lift my right leg more than an inch off of the ground and my pain level was a 10+... maybe an 8 on a good day. I trusted him and followed his instructions and I am walking nearly pain free now. I can lift my leg about a foot and a half and my pain level is about a 2. I have never written a review for anything, but Dr. Jake's remarkable attention to detail and the great service from he and his team deserve high marks.

I have a lower back condition called spondylolisthesis, which I've had for almost eight years. For the first five of those years, I lived in NJ. Although my chiropractor there was very good, he was not able to do anything for my spondylolisthesis. That's not surprising, though, because only about 5 percent of all chiropractors nationwide are able to treat this condition. When we moved to GR about three years ago, I began coming to Simple Truth after researching a number of other chiropractors in town. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made concerning my health. Today, Simple Truth has not just one, but two chiropractors, both Dr. Alex and Dr. Dan, who do an excellent job of both diagnosing and treating this condition, and keeping my "spondylo" in as good a condition as possible. The doctors did an evaluation and X-Ray to see how my back was aligned and what sort of plan they had for treatment. After a car accident in 1974 I suffered from chronic neck pain and headaches. Using the medical system I was mis diagnosed for 40 forty years. I had MRI and CAT scans and x-rays and the medical doctors could not find anything wrong with my spine. I went to 5 Chiropractors and received no results. I had 3 surgery's on my sinus to cure the headaches and received no benefit. I had my neck paralyzed twice with no benefit. I ate healthy,took supplements and exercised as much as possible. In November of 2014 I quit Pain Management. The pain medicine they gave me did not work any more. I found Dr Canfield thru a health radio show. I was skeptical to try another Chiropractor. After my first visit with the Doctor I left hoping he might help me. Dr Canfield took the time to show me what was wrong and he fixed the 40 year problem. I thank him every time I see him.

I chose this office based on great online reviews, and the fact that it's around the corner from my work. I'm glad I did. Before I get into the details of my experience at Simple Truth, I just want to state that Dr. Daniel De Basio and Alexander Le Bon are phenomenal. They were both very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful and I would recommend them indefinitely. However, the reason why I am giving a 3 star review is not because of the doctors, but the problem I had was with their billing. The whole time I was going (which was for 2 months and had appointments 1-2 times a week) they failed to inform me that each visit was actually going to be $40 and this whole time I was paying about $4. And then yesterday ended up with a $500 bill out of the blue. I understand they go through an outsourced billing company, but at the end of the day, I still owed this much money to them. They claimed it was my insurance’s fault that they “misquoted.” However, the issue I have with this statement is that this problem would have been caught much sooner if their billing company didn’t bill my insurance all all at once for my 15+ visits and then come to figure out that it’s $40 a visit instead of $4. Without me knowing it, they just racked up a whole bunch of bills for me and then informed me last minute and blamed it on my insurance which isn’t necessarily correct. I also called my insurance to confirm their actions. (Side note: Simple Truth is in network for me). Overall, I do not appreciate how their billing company treated me. If their outsourced billing company would’ve billed properly and in a more timely manner, this would have been caught MUCH sooner and I wouldn’t have a $500 bill to pay. Overall, I had a good experience here but unfortunately will not be returning, even though the doctors are amazing. I think their billing company needs to be changed or updated so this doesn’t happen again. Update: Dr. Alex has followed up with me and we are trying to make things right.

Our son (6 Years old) ran into a brick wall at school, he ended up with 7 stitches in his forehead. Something was off with him since the accident but we couldn't really pinpoint it. He was grouchy and sad all the time, and overly emotional about little things. I went in for an adjustment and asked if there was anything we could do for him, Dr.Jake adjusted him and he was happy for the first time in months! We had our kid back! I'm so glad I asked! He had been having headaches but didn't realize till after he just thought it was normal to be achy now. Poor kid! He's glad he went with me,and thought Dr. Jake was very cool.
