Excellent experience at Move. Personal, empathic care is provided with a warm, honest and reassuring doc along with her support staff. Dr. Ban identifies the areas in need of attention and provides a number of therapeutic modalities to address those problems . Physical adjustments along side high tech cold laser treatment, “thumper” devices, inversion tables, etc. And Barkley supervised everything in his low key fashion. (Berkeley Animal Shelter is just around the corner.. ). Move is one of Berkeley’s precious resources. There are stairs to climb, and no shoes beyond the entrance, as a heads up.

Then once she realized I needed further evaluation she referred me to a specialist who booked me for surgery almost immediately. Dr. Amy has a wealth of knowledge beyond the typical chiropractor. After originally seeing Dr. Amy at a seminar about back pain and working out, I talked with her about another issue, my knee. She was quick to diagnose me with a plethora of issues and I immediately thought that I would have to see her every day. After an initial visit she gave me a list of exercises, had me back in a week for some adjusting, and gave me all the tools necessary to get back to proper form. A longer review to share just how great Dr. Amy is for so many different demographics: As someone who has had a spinal fusion and lives with a fair amount of hardware supporting my spine, I never thought I could see a chiropractor. It was always out of the question due to fear of what could happen and as a result of not knowing what kinds of body work I could benefit from. However, as I began growing more active and more competitive in fitness I quickly realized waiting until your fuel engine light flashes low to seek help just wasn’t going to cut it. When I heard about Dr. Amy through so many of my CrossFit community friends and athletes, I decided to dig further on the services Dr. Amy provides and ask her about the possibilities for me. Dr. Amy showed me from the start that she had my best interest in mind, with a no BS approach. She has consistently been knowledgeable of my conditions and knows what will and will not help me improve. I’ve since trusted her fully as she has continuously shared with me her knowledge, offered guidance, and shown me helpful, practical tips to improve the qualities of my movements in my everyday life and in the gym. My body has benefitted immensely thanks to Dr. Amy - including how to work with the side affects of my spinal surgery, healing diastases recti, and even supplementing deficiencies caused by multiple sclerosis. Amy is the best! I have had pain in my ribs while running or doing anything involving too much core strength for over two years and had just accepted that it would always be that way. I saw Amy just a handful of times and she got me back to running again! I had been struggling with left shoulder problems for about 8 months. Monthly massages helped, but when certain movements caused clicking and crunching (that’s right, CRUNCHING), and it was hindering my lifting journey, I needed some chiro care. And that’s how Dr Amy at Move Chiropractic became my savior. Sure, there were a few times when she was scrapping on my shoulder with a metal spatula that I wanted to punch her, but it was so worth it. It’s been about 3 weeks since she “released” me from her care and the shoulder gains I have made are amazing. I can get through an entire work out without any pain or discomfort. I wish I had before pics, but I definitely didn’t have this definition a month ago. I attribute it all to Dr Amy working her magic to get me back on track. 10 out of 10, 5 stars, highly recommend. Went to Doc Amy for a couple different issues, the most bothersome was my feet...yes, my feet. After a few questions and comments she linked some hip, ankle and foot issues together. She asked for results from hip X-rays I had last summer, said some big words I didn't totally understand but she clarified when I asked and adjusted away. She hooked me up with some stretches, exercises and suggestions for everything from shoes to stride. My feet, ankles and hips were all good enough after visiting Move Chiropractic that I was able to complete a Ruck March that brought our team across the state of ND. Doc Amy even checked in with me while I was gone to see how I was feeling. I've seen Dr. Amy for both times when I'm really hurting as well as times that I just don't feel right/am uncomfortable. Recently I went to see her to improve a specific functional movement. I wanted to improve my depth in Crossfit movements, specifically the squat. Dr. Amy does a great job of listening to what my concern is, having me demo some movements. What I really like is that she explains what may be a barrier as well as what we do together and what movements I can work on to make improvements. Since working on the squat movement with her, my squat depth has definitely improved and I know what warm up movements work best for me. I hit a new PR this week!

I suffered a work place injury transferring one of my patients in December of 2019. I am normally a pretty active person. I like to run, lift, bike, hike, row, walk and pretty much anything that keeps me active. I had a slight herniation of my L4-L5 disc on the left side of my spine, super small. I also had a knot on the right side of my spine really deep. I tried cupping, graston, A-stem, traction and ultra sound. I had all this done from February 2020 through February of 2021, those are rough dates. I was told by Sanford OccMed that I was at my Maximum Medical Improvement roughly March 2021. I could still feel the knot in my lower back. I was still having the same amount of pain I was when I started being seen for my injury. The providers basically told me "You are doing some very high level things. You are probably just doing too much." Any one that knows me knows, I have an endless supply of energy. I am 32. I should be able to do what ever I want for as long as I want. I got OccMed to give me a referral to Dr. Amy. She was able to get my back feeling so much better in less than 2 months. She said something along the lines of: I don't want to see you in here hurting. I will help you when you come to see me. I'll do my best to keep you from coming back. Dr. Amy adjusted me a few times, cupped my back, and did graston. She determined that those weren't as effective. She then did something with needles that changed my life. Dr. Amy got the knot to release in 2 attempts and loosened my back up. I wish we could get Dr. Amy to move with us. Dr. Amy is the best.

Dr. Amy's care gave me my life back. Seriously. I know this is long, but hear me out. I'm overweight. I've had back, foot and wrist issues since I was 19 (and long before I was overweight). In recent years, any MD I'd talk to would tell me that we couldn't try anything until I lost weight. So I'd just think I was terrible and lazy and disgusting, and I convinced myself that I wasn't actually in any pain. Little did they know (or care to know), the pain was likely contributing to my year over year weight gain, as well as some mental health issues. I want to tell you my story. I want everyone to know that even if you're not the perfect patient, you deserve care that helps, and you deserve a provider that empowers you. I'm embarrassed to admit all of this but I hope it will help someone reading it. Before I met Dr. Amy, I was spiraling into less and less activity. I love doing "stuff," but I just hurt, all the time. It was easier to find sedentary activities. I'd often leave dropped items on my floor for a day or two because it hurt so much to bend over to pick things up. I secretly wanted to wait until there were more dropped items near one another so that it would make the pain "worth it." It was never too long before there were several items to pick up because I regularly dropped random items due to wrist pain. My wrists hurt so badly, I needed to use both hands to turn my car's ignition or brush my teeth. Where I used to run effortlessly for 4 miles, I could barely walk 4 blocks thanks to plantar fasciitis. ALL of these issues started before I was overweight, but no MD wanted to look past the fat patient in front of them. After years of self-loathing, reduced activity and more weight gain, all likely influenced by pain, I finally went to see Dr. Amy. I was afraid to admit all of these issues I had, ashamed of my weight and ready to hear yet another doctor tell me that we can't try anything until I lose weight. Surprisingly, she didn't even bring up my weight; Amy let me be the first to talk about it. She was so compassionate. She treated me like a regular person. There was a problem, and we were going to solve it. She was determined to help me, even when I felt like I wasn't worth her time. She fixed my foot problems in about 6 visits. When I realized that she was truly invested in my care, I let her start work on my wrists and back. When other doctors told me that I needed surgery or a new job to help my wrists, Amy tried a few different things and found that it was actually something in my neck causing the wrist problems, not necessarily Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. After she found the real problem, it was fixed in about 3 sessions. My back has taken significantly more time, and we're still working on it, but I feel better than I have since I was a teenager. I no longer leave things on the floor. I walk extra miles when I have the time. I am doing "stuff" again. Most importantly, I feel like the me I have always wanted to be. I recommend Dr. Amy to anyone that will listen. She gave my life back to me.

I've been to a lot of chiropractors in the last few years dealing with back issues, and Dr. Amy is one of the few who actually takes the time to listen, assess the injury, explain the root cause and teach how to improve movement. Helping Veterans, that's what Dr. Amy does. Not only does she provide patients with the treatment of physical medicine, but if you are a Veteran who has been denied a service connected disability claim through the Veteran's Administration she may be able help you with that too. She will review your claim and why the VA denied it. With the assistance of your Veteran's Service Officer, she will write an appeal stating the facts, appling VA Law and offer the supporting rationale as to why your claim merits reconsideration for approval. Dr. Amy uses her professional experience as well supporting examples from such noteworthy publications as those from the Mayo Clinic. In my case, Dr. Amy was able to provide 14 examples of supporting rationale for the claims that had been denied. A total of 4 previously denied claims for service connection were granted. For me it was a game changer.

Dr Amy just gets it! She takes a hands on (literally) and aggressive (but not too aggressive) approach to getting you up MOVING as you want again...and quickly. I had ridiculous shoulder pain which she diagnosed on the first visit. Within 3 visits I felt significant relief & knew I was on the right path. After 8 visits I was back to doing Crossfit movements I hadn't done in months! Being an athlete herself, she knew "you need to take 2 weeks off from working out" was not going to cut it with me. If I could give Dr. Amy 6 stars, I would. Graston that she does has been amazing. I had a mastectomy and Graston actually dissolved most of the scar tissue and tightening. When I had bursitis, I went to her for more Graston. It did the the trick. I can not recommend her enough.
