Had never been to physical therapy before, however my mom had and when I injured my back she told me how much she hated her physical therapy and just gave me the worst first impression. I'm happy to say that Dr. Jacobazzi and his lovely staff cleared that impression from our first session. The staff really cares and is always willing and ready to help the patients. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. Can't recommend enough!

I hurt my lower back a couple of months ago and found phyxMe while looking for a doctor to get the pain checked out. I was a little nervous because I've never been to a chiropractor before but Dr. Dan and his staff have been nothing but welcoming and super helpful. Not only has the pain gone away after just a couple of weeks, but Dr. Dan was able to find the underlying issues in my spine and neck that caused the pain and has set me up with a program to get my body back on track. After just a couple of months, I've noticed that my posture has greatly improved and my back pain hasn't been back since. His expertise in chiropractic and physical therapy treatments has allowed me to stay athletic in my 30s and I'm glad I found this place. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's feeling any discomfort at all or even if they just want to continue to stay healthy.

I came to Dr. Dan with some neck pain I had been experiencing on/off for about a year. I am glad I found him! He quickly identified the issue and started me on a personalized non-invasive treatment plan which included stretching, adjustments, massage therapy, and traction. The pain quickly subsided over the first week, and he was able to get my lower and thoracic spine aligned within a month! We are still working on getting the neck alignment back to square, but I can feel it is on the right path, and have already gotten back to lifting and running pain-free. To top it off, once I moved from Chicago to NYC, he even referred me to a similarly highly regarded chiropractor in NYC so I could continue with my treatment plan. Just want to thank him and his wonderful staff for all the hard work, and would recommend them to anyone feeling any sort of neck/back discomfort!

There aren't enough stars on the scale to give Dr. Dan and his team at phyxMe Physical Therapy. Prior to meeting him, I had seen several physical therapists and chiropractors for my neck issues with little, temporary, or no resolve. So naturally, when a close friend of mine referred me to him (glowingly I might add) for some serious issues with neck mobility and pain, I was skeptical. It's been 7 years since then and I can firmly say that walking into his office that first day was and is still one of the most pivotal and best decisions I ever made for my health. Dr. Dan is easily one of the most knowledgeable, comprehensive, and down to earth health care providers that I have ever been too. I've continued to see him on and off for a range of issues that have cropped up with my body. He always has an individualized and customized treatment that he develops by taking the time assess my problem thoroughly both directly, and by listening, a quality that is sorely lacking with most clinicians. Treatment is second to none, and has always been incredibly effective. What's best about Dr. Dan is that he pinpoints the problem and creates a treatment that supplements all the collateral issues contributing to the central dysfunction. Not to mention the fact that he's always willing to share his vast knowledge on health and wellness with respect to other healthy habits to incorporate into one's life. Because of him, my body has changed, as well as my my way of thinking about my health and the habits that come with that, and for that I'm most grateful. AMAZING! Dr. Dan was able to ‘phyxMe’ and relieve my pain in exactly the number of visits he predicted! I came into the office barely able to use my hands and even hold a pen to complete the paperwork. Within the first month, the pain was gone and during the next 2 months my posture improved, my strength returned, and I was able to physically do more than normal. I had spent almost 2 years at a pain management clinic prior to coming here and the results I had in 3 months is a testimony to his expertise and knowledge of his approach. Dr. Dan and staff are a cognizant group that are 100% flexible to their patient's time and typical schedule. While doctor's visits can be intimidating Dr. Dan is able to quickly build a rapport with his patients that is the encouraging. For a working professional with always changing schedule, Dr. Dan's office provides the ultimate flexibility within a set of hours that are also geared towards treating individuals that work 9-5 jobs. Regarding the diagnosis and plan, the setup was clearly explained and the benefits and progress were assessed at realistic intervals. 10 weeks into my plan I have seen considerable progress in more than one area. I am now, 1.25 years into our treatment plan, and the impact has been consistent and steady over that time. With an at-home plan established, I am able to have less in-office visits (two times per month) yet see the same kind of progress. In addition to resolving a nerve issue in my foot, the treatment plan has positively impacted my immune system and daily sleep. Since I have seen Dr. Dan, I am sick less and sleep better. I would recommend Dr. Dan and staff for any physical ailment especially those focused in the back and neck area.

I have been seeing Dr. Dan for a few years now and have had nothing but positive experiences. I came in with terrible back pain that limited my active lifestyle, it turns out one of my legs was shorter than the other and this had created many issues in my spine. After a customized treatment plan I am left with little to no pain and am back to doing all the things I love. My spine is realigned and I never needed to use any pain medication! I used to suffer from migraine headaches for years! My son suggested I try his chiropractor at Phyxme Physical Therapy and Chiropractic. Dr Dan is a wonderful doctor. Doctor Dan is a very knowledgable individual regarding physical therapy and chiropractic methods. His past experiences in sports allows him to understand your viewpoint. Doctor Dan will provide me updated status reports during the rehab process showing my progression. The process may only need months or in my case year(s), but Doctor Dan is accessible and supportive along the whole way. My injury (meniscus tear) was and is a time consuming process to rehab. I personally chose to rehab rather than surgery hoping my body would heal itself. During the rehab process, we also focused on knee exercises and other areas that needed strengthen to minimize, prevent further issues.

I initially visited Align Joint & Spine because I was having upper and lower back pain that was preventing me from sleeping through the night. Dr. Dan was extremely helpful in explaining the cause of this pain breaking down medical terminology into words I could understand. He provided me with a recommended treatment plan as well as modified options considering my insurance coverage and personal financial comfort level. Dr. Dan makes it a point to get to know his patients on a personal level and genuinely cares about improving their health. His staff is extremely friendly and accommodating as well. I've seen a few chiropractors over the years in 3 cities and no one has been able to treat my underlying issues like Dan has. Since he's both a PT and Chiropractor, he's uniquely able to diagnose and treat in a very holistic way which is extremely hard to find anywhere else. For example, I've had chronic back issues for at least a decade, with more recent issues splintering off, and can now workout without restrictions and have even started a martial art. After being involved in an auto accident a friend at Northwestern Hospital referred me to Align Joint & Spine and I could not have picked a better place to assist and guide me in the healing process. I started to see Dr. Jacobazzi after a sports injury and knowing that I have always had back issues. I had gone to other physical therapist/chiropractors before, but Dan was the first person to really pay attention to how my body was feeling and did xrays to see where my body is in comparison to where it should be at my age. Based on the xrays, we made a plan to get my body back to healthy. And for the first time in probably 10 years I feel extremely healthy and conscious about my physical health. Not only did we make huge progress in my 3 months there, but I left having the resources, tools, and exercises in my back pocket from Dan to live a fulfilling life. He truly cares about his patients and gave me the right motivation I needed to be healthier. I've been visiting Dr. Dan on and off for many years, mostly for mid-low back and neck pain. Each time, his treatments have always fixed the symptoms and through various therapies, often fixed the original problem. At the start of the Covid situation, I had excruciating mid-low back pain - sitting, standing, laying down provided no relief. I visited his office 3x per week for a number of weeks, seemingly only feeling slightly better, then quite suddenly, after another set of treatments, the pain literally vanished. Zero discomfort, zero stiffness, zero anything - it's quite remarkable. I've recommended Dr. Dan to a number of friends and will continue to do so here. He's a miracle worker.

I'm writing this review after 3 months of treatment with Dr Dan and team for a severe pinched nerve (cervical radiculopathy). When I first injured myself I went to an NW Immediate Care center and was diagnosed with a pinched nerve and prescribed high dose ibuprofen. It relieved the pain but two weeks later the problem became even worse. A second trip to the same place resulted in more ibuprofen and a neck brace! They also referred me to an orthopedic doctor, but the earliest appointment was in two weeks time. However, the pain was unbearable and I needed treatment sooner. I'm so thankful that my wife suggested calling in at AJS. Dr Dan saw me straight away and provided treatment that immediately gave me some relief. Within 48 hours I'd had x-rays, been provided with a diagnosis of the underlying problem, and given a suggested course of treatment. Dr Dan gave me a clear and honest analysis of my neck problem, which is serious (several bulging or herniated discs). But importantly he also gave me the peace of mind of knowing I was in good hands; I felt that way then and I still feel the same way. The treatment has been professional and carried out in a caring and positive environment. I've gone from intense pain where I could barely sleep or even sit comfortably, to being back functioning normally and 100% pain-free. After three months there has been big improvements in my posture and alignment. I'm continuing treatment because the severity of my problem means it will take time to get to a level where I can live without the worry of re-injury. *As a side-note, during my 3 months of treatment I was urged by my family to see an orthopedic doctor, which I did. I had an MRI which confirmed the severity of my problem; Dr Dan had already told me this. But what was significant was how the review of the diagnosis with the doctor made me feel. I left feeling incredibly negative and facing a future of pain and worry about the problem getting progressively worse. Somewhat shamefully the doctor also told me that my treatment at AJS wouldn't help. Because of this I considered stopping my treatment - but after talking to Dr Dan, I was soon back feeling positive and committed to my treatment. I can't thank him enough for this. It is so important when you have injury or illness to feel positive and that you are on the road to recovery. That's why I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Dan and his fantastic team at Align Joint & Spine. You won't be disappointed!

I have been going to Align for almost three months, and it makes perfect sense that Dr. Dan and his team get so many positive reviews - The treatments are very effective, the staff is professional and friendly, and Dr. Dan is very clear about helping you understand what your condition is and the plan of action to get you better. I started going to Align after a car accident that gave me serious whiplash. My neck was in pain, very stiff, and not getting better on its own. After my first few sessions including exercises and adjustments, I experienced drastic improvements in the mobility of my neck and also much less pain. The improvements continued throughout my sessions and now I can honestly say that the mobility in my neck is back to normal and I feel much better. This is really an excellent place to address your physical therapy and chiropractice needs. Highly recommend!

I started coming to see Dr. Dan Jacobazzi three months ago. I delayed seeing a doctor in the first place because my symptoms were manageable, even if they were uncomfortable and sometimes painful. It wasn’t until I threw out my back for the third time doing deadlifts that I finally decided to do something about it. During my initial consultation, I told Dr. Jacobazzi the reason I was coming in and explained my concerns. Dr. Dan spoke openly and honestly about the service he provides and what he recommended. Dr. Dan took my measurements and assessed my alignment. He also took several x-rays. Once the x-Rays were ready to view, I was honestly shocked to see them because they showed how bad my posture had really become. I didn’t realize it until I saw the x-ray. Dr. Dan reviewed the x-rays with me and gave me his assessment. I tend to carry my shoulders forward, hunch my back, and tilt my head forward. Also, I found out have anterior pelvic tilt. After my consultation with Dr. Dan, it all made complete sense why I had been having lower back pain and why I continually threw out my back while lifting weights. And it wasn’t something that was going to fix itself. The Dr. created a treatment plan specific to my needs and my goals. After the first two weeks of treatment, my lower back pain was gone! And I haven’t felt it since!! Not only that, but I’ve also noticed that my posture has improved. I feel an inch or two taller! I have no problem standing for long periods of time and I already feel my shoulders and neck resting in a more normal position. I’ve continued to come for the past three months now. The place runs like a well oiled machine and the assistants and employees are all lovely, kind, and helpful. Dr. Dan knows all his patients by name (and usually calls everyone by their first and last name every time he sees you). The Dr. is seriously always jovial and positive. Coming to PT is a highlight of my week. Every single visit he interacts with you and checks up on your progress and how you’re doing. Apart from the plan he creates for each patient, he gives advice and feedback on things his patients can do outside of the office to progress. Thanks so much, Dr. Dan. My daughter plays collegiate golf, but struggles with back issues caused by scoliosis. We live in Grand Rapids, MI but knew Dr. Dan was who we needed to see to help her. He did all the necessary tests to determine what was needed, in a timely and efficient manner. He even emailed us the next day a reminder of how/when to use her back brace, shoe lift, and which exercises she needs to do. She is diligent with all that he has asked of her, and she already feels so much better. We are excited (and relieved) that she does not need surgery, and is on her way to a stronger, healthier back. Dr Jacobazzi and his staff took great care of me over an 8 week period. My neck, back and knee made significant improvements during my time at Align Joint and Spine and had i been able to afford further treatment, i feel i would have made a complete recovery. The doctor provided a sense of awareness about what was going on in my body, taking continuous x-rays to check my progress and giving me honest feedback and suggestions. On my final visit, i had brought my fiancé with me and she was having pretty intense back problems that day. At no extra charge, Dr Jacobazzi took an x-ray of her back, explained what the problem was and gave her a lift for her shoe. He did not have to go out of his way to do any of that, and that particular gesture showed me that he truly cares about the well-being of his patients and their loved ones. Highly recommend.

Dr. Dan and his team at PhyxMe Physical Therapy have helped me feel so much better! I initially went for some pain I was feeling in my hip from running, and then again when I had an accident and fractured my rib. Something that made me feel secure with continuing my physical work there was when Dr. Dan showed me my x-rays and pointed out, but also explained, the internal issues that related to my pain. I would have never known what was really going on in my body without his expertise. Throughout the whole time I have worked with them, I have felt their experience and attention. I remember getting frustrated through the first or second month (I am a highly sensitive person, so pain really gets to me...), but once I continued and started feeling better, I learned you may feel some pains because your body is moving and adjusting! When COVID hit, I took a break. But then I had an accident and fell on my right side, fracturing my rib. After it healed I was still in so much pain, and couldn’t even fall asleep some nights. Once I started going back to Dr. Dan and his team, I have truly felt better, and I am sleeping better again. I also feel extremely safe at their facility. This is the right place!!

I recently went to Align Joint & Spine for PT for a surgically repaired hip labral tear. The post op called for 3 months of PT, so I went somewhere that I would enjoy being spending a lot of time at. They came up with a rehab plan centered around the recommendation of the surgeon and they knocked it out of the park. The team over their is very friendly and flexible when it comes to scheduling. Dr. Dan is always available to speak and knows his stuff backwards and forwards, as do the trainers.

Dr. Jacobazzi has helped me tremendously with my back pain and scoliosis. For years I had seen different spinal specialists who had given me different exercises to correct the curve in my spine, but nothing seemed to work. I also had a herniated disc that gave me back issues. After meeting with several doctors and physical therapists, they all told me that the only way to correct my curve and herniated disc was with surgery. They told me I would simply have to deal with the issue for the rest of my life. As a collegiate athlete, it was very difficult dealing with the pain and thinking there was no way out of it except with surgery. After meeting with Dr. Jacobazzi just once, I have seen an improvement in my scoliosis curve within 4 weeks, and I have almost zero pain. He has given me very specific exercises to do so that I can continue improving my spinal health and eventually getting 100% recovered. Can I give 6 stars? I can't express how amazing they are, my life is so much better now. I 'tweaked' my lower back years ago and at different times went to a chiropractor and a PT and didn't get results and was unimpressed. Then the injury caught up to me and I had a severely herniated disk in my lower back. I went to a surgeon at Rush and they told me it's just a random injury and I had surgery to fix it, which helped with the acute issues. 6 months later I had a minor re-injury then a month later I had an extreme re-injury, I couldn't leave bed for 2 weeks and was in agonizing pain for 2 more weeks, it was horrible. I knew that the surgeon wasn't treating the underlying issues and they just wanted more surgery, then I found Dr. Dan and his team. He looks at the body as a system, not just at the one place that's hurting right now. He was able to explain what happened and why and showed me the issues via xrays and compared my body to what is 'normal'. He laid out a plan and was honest about the long timeline and explained why and explained what he expected my progression to be like. After 6 weeks, during one of the sessions I literally felt the herniated disc release a bunch of pressure on my nerves, and the pain and muscle cramping went down 75% and I literally cried at the relief. I kept going for months and now my back feels better than it did when I 'tweaked' it, and I know the root cause of the pain so I can avoid bad movements and can do things to help it at home. Seriously, I tell everybody I know about him. If you're having any issues, at least come in and have him take a look and explain it. The only reason you shouldn't is because if I have some other injury I don't want him to be so busy I can't get in. This probably sounds like some shill just hyping him up, but after the hell I went though I'm just so happy with where I am and to be able to do activities again. Thanks Dr. Dan and your team!

I've been a patient of Dr. Dan's for nearly three years now. Formally known as HPI Chicago, Align Joint & Spine has really helped me. He has not only aided me in my repeat recoveries for three of my seven knee surgeries, but (and he may not like me saying this) genuinely cares for his patients. Yes, he's there to make money (it's his job, after all), but he's also there to make you better than ever before. Dr. Dan attends many training classes and is always in the know with new treatments and techniques. It's true that you may feel like a bit of a guinea pig at times, but he's very gentle (and a bit of a goof ball) -which always puts me at ease. He also kind of does it all... He offers physical therapy and chiropractic work -both of which he's wonderful at. Honestly, I have been to many PT locations here in Chicago and elsewhere; however, none of them come close to the level of detail, dedication, knowledge, and compassion that Dr. Dan clearly has for his patients. I only have one complaint (and this may have changed since I last saw him, so it doesn't impact my rating). I hate how his hours make it impossible to go three times a week (which I'm always required to do). When I was last there he was open Monday-Thursday, that's it. So, to get my sessions in, I had to go to days in a row (I did that twice since it was much too painful). I hope this has changed though, otherwise, I'll need to try to find someone else for my next upcoming lengthy recovery. You cannot go wrong with Dr. D. Thank you for everything, Boss.

Dr. Dan and his staff are friendly, personable and are very good at what they do. Two years ago I came in with a bad back and neck. The back pain alone would take me down to the floor about once a month. Through a combination of exercise, traction, chiro, etc., the severe back pain is a thing of the past. We're still working on the neck pain, but its getting better. What I really like is the comprehensive approach he takes to making you better. He's not just a chiropractor or a physical therapist, whatever methods he can employ to make you better, that's what he does. Keep up the good work everyone!

I visited Align Joint and Spine on the recommendation of a friend, and I'm so glad I did! I was having trouble squatting - there wasn't pain, but I noticed I was shifting to one side. After meeting with Dr. Dan and taking some X-Rays, it was confirmed that my hips were out of alignment. A plan was put together, and I started going three days a week to work on corrective exercises. Because of the nature of the exercises, and the time commitment, I wasn't able to go to the gym and lift as much as I liked (honestly, it was about once a week, where before it was three times a week). But even with that limited time, I was able to improve my Clean by 3kg and my Front Squat by 4kg, which is a huge improvement for me! (I usually only added about 1kg every six months or so). The program is definitely working, and I'm so glad I took the time to step back from the gym and focus on correcting things. I can't wait to see where my lifting goes once I start back up at the gym!

I had a hip joint replacement in 2017 after every other treatment option had failed to address an old gym injury. tl;dr: These people get results for their patients and they're helpful, nice and fun while doing it. The blend of PT and chiropractic care seems unique and really gets the job done. The results you get are based on your commitment, which has to be big. I've been seeing the team at AJS for a year. I experienced chronic upper back and neck pain that wasn't severe, but was getting worse and really impacted my life satisfaction. After going to a few doctors and being told to sit up straighter and take narcotics for the pain, I decided to investigate PT. The AJS consultation convinced me that they could provide the relief I needed and make sure I wasn't completely doomed to be hunch-backed when I'm older. And I had photographic proof or how messed up my neck really was... From that initial consult, Dr. Dan designed a set of exercises for me based on my specific issues symptoms. They track and modify the plan as I go along. They won't push you any harder than your body can handle, but the exercises will challenge you and feel good at the same time. Everyone there is doing something slightly different, so don't pay too much attention to someone else's plan or progress. They also give you exercises at home to increase your progress; DO THEM. The treatments are expensive and my insurance didn't cover it. I don't know if they're expensive as compared to other PT/chiropractic work, but compared to doing nothing (which wasn't really creating a whole lot of results for me), yeah it's expensive. I knew that paying the money would help keep me accountable, and that I spend far more on useless things. It was worth the investment to get my body feeling better every day. They offer payment plans! I get the impression that they really don't want the finances to be the reason you don't seek treatment, but the cost will be prohibitive for some people. I don't blame this on them, I could go on a rant about how supremely f'ed up our attitude/priorities around medicine and wellness are, but who wants to read that? I consider myself lucky to have been able to afford this, because it's made such a difference in my daily life. Something to note: the time commitment is big deal. If you don't go, if you don't commit to the home exercises, you can't blame them. I started going three days per week for three months--this was really hard to commit to. They're great about scheduling and flexibility, but it's still quite a huge commitment you have to make for yourself. For me, it was 100% worth it. After three months of weekly chiro and PT exercises, I got to see my progress and got a much more relaxed schedule of appointments to keep things going. I have fallen off with my appointments and home exercises recently and really noticed a change in how I feel. Also, the appointment duration is based on how many other patients are present--which you won't have any knowledge of or control over when scheduling. Sometimes appointments would be 30 minutes, sometimes 1 hour, rarely longer. I am very fortunate that I had flexibility with my employer to make this commitment work.

I've only been under care for about a month but, I'm already starting to feel better and look forward to seeing how much progress I will make as I work through my program. Dr. Dan and the staff at AJS helped me resolve pain that I had dealt with for 14 months. I was a NCAA Division 1 cross country/track athlete, and I was training and competing at a high level. During the spring of 2016, I injured my left hamstring in competition. The athletic trainers at my university did an evaluation, and they said that it would resolve itself with rest. After several weeks of not running, I showed little/no improvement (still painful to run/walk on), and they referred me to a physical therapist to do strengthening and rehabilitation exercises. I did the exercises religiously, and, after several weeks without improvement, I was advised to treat my injury as an irritated nerve (i.e the varying levels of pain were independent of any actual injury to my muscles). I resumed training, albeit at ~75% of the total volume that I normally ran; additionally, I could no longer do certain workouts (sprints, hills, fartleks). It was a difficult year, but I didn’t want this injury to take that season away. I then came to AJS in July of 2017 after my track season had ended. At that point, I was resolved not to run through my discomfort anymore. Dr. Dan and I talked about the origins of my injury, it’s progression through the past year, and what had helped/aggravated it. He did a chiropractic evaluation on me (testing my range of motion, strength of isolated muscles) as well as took x-rays of my spine. The evaluation showed what had been evident to every other person I’d seen for treatment: my glutes were weak/underactive (despite doing exercises regularly to strengthen them); however, his interpretation of the x-ray revealed why they remained weak: a misalignment in the lumbar region was applying pressure on the neural pathway that controlled glute activation, enough pressure that made signaling difficult. By doing regular adjustments, we could relieve this pressure and begin to strengthen the pathway and muscles, and this would take strain off of my hamstring and allow it to heal. I saw him regularly for about six weeks that summer, until the school year resumed, and I had to move away. I noticed significant improvement in those 6 weeks, and I was able to resume running again; more importantly, I know understand the underlying causes of my injury, and I was able to share Dr. Dan’s insights with the local physical therapist and chiropractor that I began to work with in order to continue making improvements. In the past year, I’ve been able to resume training and competing at my previous levels, and I was able to run personal bests in several events. I’ve also had regular contact with Dr. Dan, whether a monthly phone call or when I’m able visit the office. I’m grateful for the help he’s provided me, and for the new life he gave to my running career; additionally, I’m grateful for his willingness to explain the treatment process to me, so I could better understand my role in my rehabilitation.

Quite simply, Dr. Dan and his practice are game changers. After months of neck pain and headaches, he was able to identify and treat muscular and postural issues that had come from years at a computer desk. I had seen every doctor in the book, and been to multiple PT and chiro offices, none of which helped. I wish I had found his office years ago. You can see the issues and results with imaging, and he will help you "lock in" the fix so you don't need perpetual maintenance. I like the multifaceted approach of PT and Chiro, and they will tailor the treatment to your specific needs. Prior to going to AJS, I was going to a chiropractor I really liked. However, after several years I was still getting injured frequently while exercising. I felt I was treating the symptoms rather than the root cause. During our initial consult, Dr D related that he'd had the same experience as a chiropractor, which led him to further study of physical therapy and "Chiropractic Biophysics" (sounds made-up, but he gets excited about it). While the various torture devices he subjects me to aren't much fun, seeing the pure childish delight on his face at my suffering is kinda funny. In full disclosure, I never would have thought I would be treated by a chiropractor. But extreme pain in my arm and hand, stemming from my spine, was seriously interfering with life. I was desperate. Enter Dr. Dan and Team. I called on a Thursday and they were able to get me in that same day - this was not a one-off accommodation, they are always extremely flexible with scheduling and respectful of time. We chatted about my pain, then I was examined and x-rayed. The following day I was given a 12 page detailed report of my particular issue! A treatment plan was put in place that was explained in layman's terms. Dr. Dan is unique in that not only is he a licensed chiropractor, but also a physical therapist. This is important because he truly understands the body and has multiple tools in his toolbox in which to alleviate pain. A one-trick pony he is not. If you are going to be frequenting a place 3X/week for a few months, you better like it and feel comfortable there, and I do. The atmosphere is upbeat, the staff lighthearted, jokes abound among the staff and patients. They play good tunes. You can grab a free snack on the way out the door. It's all good:-) And now I'm happy to say that I'm good, not 100% yet because I'm still in treatment, but about 98% there. After first visiting a well-known Chicago physical therapy center without getting even a modicum of relief, I am so happy I found Align Joint & Spine and am absolutely grateful for Dr. Dan's expertise in healing me.

I had never been to a chiropractor (didn't really believe in them) or physical therapy (never needed it) until last summer. In the spring of 2018 I started to suffer from severe lower back pain and sciatica. After months in constant pain, three visits to my primary care physician and DAILY pain meds (Ibuprofen, Aleve, muscle relaxers, etc.) I was getting pretty desperate and wondered if this was my new normal at age 52. In August I finally started to Google the subject to find a different solution. After reviewing several websites, I came across Align Joint & Spine. All the 5 star reviews caught my attention, but it was Dr. Dan's bio (it's very extensive but a worthwhile read!) that convinced me to request an initial exam. I figured, who could understand people suffering from excruciating pain better than someone who had been there and who made it into a career to help people alleviate pain for that very reason. It was one of the best decision I''ve ever made. From the moment I walked into Align Joint & Spine I felt comfortable and taken care of. After an extensive examination and several X-Rays, Dr. Dan laid out a plan for me to work on all my issues (degenerative disc, scoliosis, the works) and I finally felt like we are addressing the cause of my problems and not just putting a bandaid on a bleeding wound. It was no walk in the park, I committed to treatment (which is exhausting, to say the least) 3 times a week for 12 weeks and then once a week after that. But when you live in constant pain you make it work, and if your pain level gets lower and lower over the weeks, and then, less than three months into the treatment you can finally put down a 0 on pain level - NO lower back pain, NO sciatica, you definitely keep working on it. It's work in progress, but to be pain free for weeks at a time seemed absolutely impossible less than a year ago. If you are reading this, in pain, in the middle of the night like I did, make an appointment! Dr Dan and his entire staff are fantastic and extremely helpful and accommodating. The atmosphere is super friendly and light, there are lots of jokes and laughter, a factor that contributes to your general well being. I couldn't imagine having gone through this rigorous program in a place where patients and staff were not talking and laughing with each other like at AJS. Besides thanking Dr. Dan for getting my life back I also want to thank Lisa who always has a smile ready while accommodating your schedule, and Christian who always has an eye on what you are doing and makes sure you are doing it right.

To start out I just want to say that I am only 30 and have had 2 major back surgeries, 2 minor back procedures (for pain), about roughly 4-5 rounds of PT, so I am no stranger to back pain or doctor offices. I pretty much have constant pain in my back and at this point I am quite skeptical of any doctors claiming they can treat me. PT in the past has helped with my mobility, but nothing has really helped with the pain so I wanted to take a more aggressive approach to treatment this time around, which lead me to Align Joint and Spine. I found Dr Dan because he had a ton of positive reviews and success stories, so I immediately went in for a consult. He was the first doctor to actually run tests and listen to my experience (not just push medicine on me) at which point he determined my back pain was stemming from my neck, not from my rotator cuff / shoulder blade / everything else doctors have tried treating in the past to get rid of the pain. We immediately got to work and within a month or so, my pain had decreased significantly, I had less degeneration in my neck, and I was able to work out 5+ times a week, compared to my usual 2 times/week max. Everyone at the office is extremely friendly and accommodating, and one of my favorite parts is that they are really good with working around your schedule to ensure you go as often as Dr. Dan suggests to stay on course (for me it was 3 times/week). On that note, I will say that you should not attempt this treatment unless you are prepared to commit, both with your time and your money. It is a lot, but it is worth it if you stick with it. While I realize that this will probably not solve my back problems forever, because I am just blessed with a crooked back full or hardware, I am confident that if/when the pain comes back in the future, I will certainly be going back to this office to be treated.

My daughter is in a medical school program and had to take time off from studying due to a car accident. By following Dr. Dan’s treatment vigilantly, she recovered and could return to school. He also provided high quality vitamins and supplements to reduce the post concussion symptoms afflicting her. In another car accident, my teenage son and daughter suffered whiplash. While treating them, Dr. Dan also diagnosed my son’s turtle neck from playing too many video games throughout his childhood and corrected it as well. He also discovered my daughtet’s Scoliosis in her spine which no doctor had found before. She was at an age where it was still treatable without a brace. Dr. Dan corrected her spine and she grew a couple inches as well! Finally, in treating me for back and neck injuries after being t-boned in a car accident, Dr. Dan was very patient and understanding of my needs, especially at age 50. I could not endure much pain and was not as flexible as my children. Also, having to stay home from work for three months and recovering at a snail’s pace, was not only personally discouraging, but stressful, too, as I had to deal with insurance and disability issues. Dr. Dan worked seamlessly with my primary care doctor, neurologist, insurance company and workplace to provide necessary forms and evaluations. This made a very trying time in my life more manageable and less aggravating. Dr. Dan and his staff always made me feel that my recovery was very personal to them and they listened carefully to all my trials with aches and pains until I gradually recovered and became more and more pain free. I still need care, but I am on the mend, can work, sleep and socialize again. I feel like I have my life back. I went into Align Join & Spine with runners knee pain in my right knee. I was typically having symptoms after 5 miles during a 10 mile run. After which I would experience residual pain that would daunt my day for at least three days after a run. Align Join & Spine was able to take x-rays in house and upon review identify there was a limb length discrepancy. Align Join & Spine provide me with a holistic plan to strengthening my core, stretch my legs, lower-body, and treat the area in pain. The plan developed provided me with a reactive and proactive approach to the issue at hand. Since going through the two month physical therapy plan the results have proven to be fantastic and the pain I was experiencing is no longer an issue.
