The owner met us at the counter and immediately took our order. He was very friendly. He advised us on the size of sandwiches, which I appreciated because the two, 6" meatball sandwiches was plenty of food. The owner also gave us two double chocolate cookies on the house. The sandwiches were excellent and so were the cookies. I highly recommend this place for a good sandwich.

Easy review. Simply the BEST sandwich shop in STL and arguably the world. Lots of meat, drinks, and chips selections. Free cookie with every sandwich (and they're baked fresh). EXCELLENT customer service by the owner ( I think he used to be the host of " DB's Delight. STL old heads remember the show). The man is NEVER in a bad mood. Prices are great and the sandwiches are DELICIOUS. Oh, and size of the sandwich? His 9 inch sandwiches are bigger than Subway footlongs. Stop thinking about it, you're hungry. Go get a sandwich!

The best deli in St.Louis meat packed sandwiches great. sides delicious desserts great staff the owners son is so nice gave my grand daughter a bag of polished river rocks the prices are low for what your get I've been going there for years used to park my tractor trailers on the side street and have lunch there. Now I drive from St. Charles to get a roast beef sandwich its will worth the trip. Kip is really nice and fast at the check out heading there this coming Wednsday.

I've driven past this unassuming place hundreds of times since I moved into the neighborhood in 2010, and decided to finally check it out. I was not disappointed!! My partner and I both got the roast beef sandwich with au jus. It was enormous, juicy, and delicious. Huge piles of meat! The clerk also threw in some free cookies for us. My partner thought the chocolate chip was the best-- I preferred the double chocolate, but both were tasty and fresh. Packaged perfectly for takeout, with the au jus wrapped securely in plastic wrap for travel. I also got a cup of strawberries as a side, and it was fresh and yummy. I was falling in love with the ginormous happy plants in there, too. What are they feeding them to make them grow so big?! I've never seen such a huge dracaena! Happy pothos and philodendron, too! We will be back :)

So I have to say that I am ashamed to say that yesterday was our FIRST VISIT to Southwest Market Cuisine!! They opened in 1969!!!!!!!!!!! Make their own meats and even stand it up against the Hills salami. The customer service that the owner Kipp showed us was unbelievable!!!! I didn't know kindness like this still existed in a world like this!!! We also met his fur buddy. He was the sweetest dog ever. Kipp also gave the girls rocks that his Dad collects from South America!! Oh and did I mention that the sandwiches are 7 layer's???!?!! I suggest you RUN!! DON'T WALK!! Get to this place!!!

Oh man. So excited when I have the time to come here for lunch. I'd venture to say it is the best deli in the city. A bit pricey, but the sheer quality and quantity you get for your dollar is amazing. You can go to Subway and get a foot long and eat it all in one sitting. Here, the 4" will fill you up and if you eat a 6" you will be stuffed. I pick up a 12" and make at least 2 meals out of it, if not 2 and a snack. The staff is friendly and the selection of sides, chips, deserts, and drinks is great. Plus, if you eat in, you get a cookie free for desert. Oh, and go there for their St. Patty's day lunch and have some incredible corned beer and cabbage, a pure joy to the taste buds. It is the Chris's Steakhouse of deli's.

This is one of the absolute best places to grab lunch. All of their food is fresh and delicious. I'm partial to their turkey sandwich, but all of their food is great. And the sandwiches are HUGE! OMG! This is the best " Deli like" take out i have been to since the old Gweiners deli (spelling??) I used to frequent as a kid. I no longer live in St. Louis I grew up in dogtown so bei g able to come home and see a place like this thriving is truly heartwarming to me. The man behind the counter was so so nice, the other customers were even friendly. Now not to mention the old poor boy I ate was amazing! But the beat part of it all was the oatmeal freaking cookie was just to DIE FOR! WHOAAAA! I cant wait to come back on my next visit.... Thank you for the wonderful experience.. AND someone paid it forward to pay for my meal and they wouldn't take my money.

We try to hit up Southwest Market whenever we are in the area...we love it! I remember back in the 70's the kids at Southwest High School used to sneak off campus get sandwiches here. The place had a different name but it was great then and it is great now. They load up the meat on your sandwich and you won't go away hungry. Highly recommend!

Wow. This is a great place. The staff was really helpful and full of good advice. There are a lot of toppings on the sandwiches, so you wouldn't think a 6 inch would be a lot, but it filled me up and I could only eat half of it, lol. The deli is very clean on the inside and out and it is just a great place to grab a great sandwich!

This place is downright amazing. They aren't open too late so you may want to double check the hours and go there on lunch but I highly recommend it. The outside looks very unassuming, but the inside is a cute little restaurant with amazing hot and cold sandwiches, a fantastic drink selection, great side choices, and friendly staff. It's also local and family owned so I always feel happy supporting local business here in saint Louis.

The best deli in St.Louis its been there ffor 51 years the owners are really nice. People.the sandwiches are huge the sides are great and you get an awesome cookie with your sandwich the staff is great you may have to wait in line at lunch time but it goes fast. And after your meal take you sandwich back to the deli counter and they willl rewrap it for you like new. Please give Southwest a try you won't be disappointed.

The food was awesome and so was the staff. We had their in house specialty salami and it was amazing. The have a variety of house made sides including macaroni salad, potato salad, and cole slaw. If you eat in house they offer you free, fresh from the iven cookies. The place was clean and so we're the bathrooms. Has a nice parking lot and was easy to get into. Highly recommend.

There are a THOUSAND things I could say about Southwest Market. Kipp and his amazing wife and children are so nice to still have. When Kipp took over for his dad it was seamless and the service remains amazing. His wife is so wonderful to our little family. Even when I would come in under the weather, she would pick out my lunch for me to get me back up and healthy again in no time. It is life having a neighborhood mom that keeps you well! I work close by and love going here. It is the best cold sub around! (gioia's being the best hot sub). My wife grew up on The Hill and she didn't know about Southwest. I introduced her to it and she agrees that it is the best cold sub in the area. A 6" is plenty to fill you up and the workers provide top notch service. The gentleman that works the register (the owner) is the most friendly person and you get a free cookie if dining in. (awesome cookies too)

Great place for lunch. Sandwiches are loaded and fresh made to order no skimping here. The 3 1/2 Italian (pictured) is more like 7 inches long and plenty for one person. No comparison to the chain sub restaurants. Since the pandemic it's take out only.
