Reviews of Adriana's on the Hill
Their meatball sub is out of the world and everyone needs to order it!!!! It’s the best meatball ever!!!! And so much better than other beef sandwiches. Also the side pasta is so amazing!! You can taste the red sauce is for sure homemade and just so fresh. I will come back for more meatball subs. The owner is super friendly too. Totally worth 1 hour wait for us.
Best sandwiches on the hill! I had the Italian Beef sandwich and it was excellent. Fresh Italian bread with marinated beef. The Italian salad was delicious. Their salad dressing is awesome!
Been a top 5 sandwich and Italian lunch spot for as long as I can remember. The people working are always extremely friendly and it delivers in exactly what you are looking for when you go to the hill. Anything is good but always recommend the meatball sub or the mambo siciliano!
Cool little place. Not much to look at inside but your not there for the decor! The bread is very good! It's a big sandwich cause the bread is so wide. I couldn't eat the 12 in cause it's so much food. I got a mambo Siciliano, let just say it was the best italian style sandwich I've ever had. Not too much heat but enough.
We really enjoyed Adriana’s. First, the customer service was great. The ladies working were so kind and attentive, you could tell they really wanted to make sure everything was taken care of. Next, the sandwiches were also really delicious. I remember we got a Teresa and a Hill Boy, not sure about the other one. Additionally, we got a small soup of the day and two side salads. The soup was okay-ish as were the salads but the sandwiches were really the stars here. They were *huge*, if you go, I recommend doing the lunch special where you get half a sandwich + a side. We didn’t realize we were getting full sandwiches and it was A LOT of food. Our total was around $50 for 3 sides + 3 full size sandwiches, not bad.
Honestly I don't even know where to begin. I am speechless. I have not had food this good in awhile. Usually when you go somewhere to eat a few things out of everything is good, but not every single thing. I can honestly say Adriana's is an exception as out of everything I had I cannot pick out a favorite as it was all that good and I loved it all. The staff was super nice friendly and helpful. It's definitely a one of a kind genuine place that I cannot wait to go back. For reference my boyfriend and I both had the lunch special. He had a half meatball sandwich with adriana's salad and I had a half Ben's special sandwich with adriana's salad. We split a small side of potato salad. We took our dessert home with us (chocolate chip cookie and snickerdoodle). Thank you for an amazing delicious lunch.
plan on waiting twenty minutes off hours, which normally is a good sign, however, besides using amazing Hill bread, the sandwich were "meah" for the cost. spent $31 for two whole sandwiches and a small side salad. Southwest Market gives twice the toppings for half that cost in minutes.
Great sandwiches, I had the Philly, my daughter had the roast beef with the blue cheese and both were so good! It was pretty busy and they told us it could take up to 30 minutes, but it either didn't take that long or we didn't notice while we sat outside at one of the picnic tables and enjoyed the area. My daughter is the one who introduced me to this great shop, I love it that they always call her by name when she walks up to the counter.
We love this little shop, best lunch place. Delicious fresh food. Cute shop, only open for lunch.
Love the pasta!! And sandwiches!!
Always a great dining the experience at Adriana's - been going there for years. I had the roast turkey sub and my wife had her regular gorgonzola beef half and half with a sandwich. Just the nicest people in the world working there. Thanks Diana for a great lunch today!
Amazing spot on The Hill. Fast service, clean place, nice staff. I got the Teresa which is a turkey Club.
I don't normally believe the hype. I do on this place. These are them sandwiches Joey Tribiani from friends talks about. Wow. Was skeptical cuz of price. But boy do they hand you a sandwich. Loaded it as if it was me making it with no grocery budget. Grabbed a pizza to go. Equally as good.
Great options for everyone. Friendly staff and calm environment, even when they are slammed. Worth the wait every time. My go-to is the half Sunny and potato salad.
Such a great place. I did the half sandwich and half pasta lunch special. Mary's Special (hot roast beef sandwich) was so good with the au jus. I could've also ate another bowl of the pasta. The pasta sauce was great!
The sandwiches are good, although I wish they would offer just a half sandwich with no sides. The regular sandwiches are so large that nobody should be able to finish one, so if you do come here split a sandwich with a friend.
Amazingly tasty food for very reasonable prices! It's usually crowded and loud, but for good reason. This is a St. Louis favorite among locals and visitors alike. Its casual and unpretentious atmosphere is great for any combination of patrons: couples, kids, professionals, individuals, friends and more. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and everything on the menu is divine!
Quaint lunch spot. Fresh toasted bread with melting cheese. I recommend lunch combo instead of whole sandwiches, which comes with big portion. Sunny veggie sandwich is a little disappointing because there is nothing but lettuce and tomato. Lemon cookies are fresh baked and delicious.
Food was amazing! So delicious! Only downfall is the lack of room to walk around the tables - however, that definitely says the food is great too, because it was packed! We loved the lunch special of the meatball sliders and the gorgonzola beef sandwich was phenomenal too. We also picked up a piece of gooey butter cake which had the most amazing crust! Try this place out! We definitely know we'll be back!
This is a delicious Italian sandwich shop, also serving soup and salads. It's only open for lunch. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the salad dressing, while good, is so-so for a restaurant if this type. There's a fair amount of iceberg lettuce, and a few pieces of the lettuce were wilted. Prices are very reasonable. Approximately $9.75 - $10.25 for whole sandwiches.
This is counter order. I was pleased to see that they have a person dedicated to clearing and wiping the tables. Saturday lunch was packed, however, tables opened up quickly and no one looked to be standing with food in hand to eat. There is a short wait to receive your order, but it is well worth the minutes.
They have brilliant sandwiches! Nana, Big Jack, and Sicilian Salsiccia are my recommendations.
My wife and I visited on a Friday afternoon about 12:45. A bit busy, but understandably so! Food was great, people were friendly, and the place was clean. We’ll definitely be back…!
I was roaming around the hill and decided to stop here for a sandwich to go. Had never even heard of this deli before.
When I got home and ate it...Boy, what a treat. I got the Hill Boy. Absolutely delicious!
I love catching lunch at Adriana's. The sandwich selection is excellent and tasty, Try their potato salad as a side dish - delicious! One of my favorite menu items is their tuna salad plate. You might have to wait in a line in the middle of lunchtime, but it's worth it!
The sandwiches are so very good. You really can't go wrong. The roast beef is yummy 😋 …
Food was great and loved the salad. The ace feels like family and there's a lot to be said when the employees are rooted there 5, 10, 15+ years. Thank you all.
Best roast beef sandwich I've ever had [There are at least 4 different ones - I tried the first one under roast beef sandwiches]. Took it as a to go order (have a many tables).
My favorite of all time and soo much history. Everything is fresh, flavorful and authentic! I highly recommended when on The Hill to check it out.
There employees were very nice and helpful. The food was EXCEPTIONAL WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. Will definitely eat here again. Even the kids loved and ate everything they order.
The best sandwich I’ve ever had! I had one of the veggie sandwiches and my son had Philly steak sandwich! The absolute best!
This restaurant and all the workers in it are amazing. Great pasta, sandwiches, and desserts. Friendliest staff around.
Food was great. It was over an hour before we got our food. Then no seating. We will be going back but at a different time.
Sandwich Club STL visited Adriana's On The Hill.
Saturday Dec 22nd at 1:00 pm.
Everyone loves Adriana's and it shows from the moment you walk through the front door. This place with its limited hours is busy from the moment they open to closing time.We actually visited during the week one time over the summer on a Tuesday at 2:00 pm and we waited in line for a good while.
That being said,bring your patience.
The service is actually really great and the line moves fairly steadily.
There will be plenty of time to make your decision on what you would like by the time you get to the counter.
This place is small and there is limited amounts of seating.
If you are not into crowds we would suggest go elsewhere.
Putting that aside we still give them 5 stars.Hey we cant fault them for being too busy. That's exactly what you want for a local family run business.
It's all about the sandwiches and they are good, really good.
Think light fluffy breads stuffed with good quality Italian meats and cheeses. Oh and they are big so you get quality and quantity.
We ordered the BIG JACK:- Mortadella on Provolone garlic cheese bread topped with olive Relish and the BEEF & PHILLY hot roast beef and cream cheese.(Thank You Pat one of our club members for introducing me to this taste sensation).
We got both sandwiches toasted.
Funny thing, My wife ordered the BIG JACK and we split and shared each others half.I'm not a big fan of mortadella, however with the cheese bread and olive relish it works & it was delicious.
If you are looking for a great sandwich and got some free time visit Adriana's.You wont be disappointed.
SANDWICH CLUB STL, for the love of (local) sandwiches.
The ladies are just the sweetest!!! Every single time I go they make you feel important! And talk about portions!! Who else is going to give you a side salad this big??? Amazing as always!!
Stopped by on a Monday in July just before the lunch rush. Great friendly service and the veggie sandwich was huge (fed two of us for lunch and dinner) and delicious! Also enjoyed the caponata side dish. This place is a neighborhood treasure.
Some of the best Italian food from the sauce, soup, salads, meatballs that aren't in ball form. Great prices too!
Such a great experience! The staff was genuinely kind and helpful. The food was exceptional, a must stop restaurant if you are visiting the Hill.
A place of legend in my company located in Michigan. As people travel to work with my local representation they are taken to this location on the hill. What a awesome location and very cool spot. Quick service and good food. The line is deceiving as the food move quick but not so quick that you know it's being made fresh.
Good sandwich shop on the Hill. Fresh ingredients, good portions, friendly staff.
Great sandwiches with a good quality ingredients. And also very big, one was enough for two people.
Best lunch spot in St. Louis! Run by a family who loves their customers.
Best sandwich on The Hill! I LOVE the staff. We drive 40 miles to come here. I don't think you will be disappointed. The Ben's Special sandwich and the pizza is fantastic.
100% Sicilian. Cuisine and approach....like my Mother's. Impossible to find a dud here. Caponata and Olive salad shine!
An absolutely great lunch spot - get away from the ordinary and experience real St Louis!
The best meatball sandwich! (I get mine without cheese.)
They are nice, five star food, but if there is a line, be prepared to wait a long time. They need an update to the old fashioned register, probably get two of them. I know they loosing business due to speed they get through a line.
Nice little sandwich shop on The Hill that's a refreshing alternative to all the deli chains!!
Great meatball sandwich and salad a whole sandwich is definitely big enough for 2
Sandwiches were great and large. Salads also great. I had Adrian's salad. Love the dressing. I cannot eat wheat so no pasta. They made my sausage and potato soup without the pasta. It was great.
The best sandwiches in town and the old town feel is incredible
Amazing flavors
Great sandwiches
Excellent bread
We stopped in for a quick lunch and LOVED it! The sandwiches are huge and delicious. The prices can’t be beat and the staff is so friendly! Highly recommend!!
We stopped here by accident. We were on our way to Barnes and took a right instead of left. Ended up on the Hill which is always fun. We stopped in and got a cheese pizza and 3 drinks. Came out to around $20 which was great for the 3 of us. The ladies working here were extremely nice. I hope to try a sandwich next time we're in the Lou
Sunny's veggie sandwich paired with the asparagus/orzo soup is deliciously tasty!
The place seems to be popular. Locals seem to order ahead and pickup (no waiting)! Consequently, drop-ins wait for over 40 minutes while others keep coming / leaving! Portions are ample. Desserts are creative and tasty! YUM!
Always packed, always fun.
Oh and great food
Sandwiches are not as amazing as everybody says. I waited 45 minutes for the roast beef and the meatball by the time I got home which is only 5 minute drive the meatball was cold. With other sandwich spots on the hill I suggest looking them unless you really love this place. Also the two sandwiches then I got cost me $26 dollars.
Busy busy at lunch but awesome sandwich and soup.
Cashier woman who took our order was extremely rude. The dinning is all outdoors. Better than having to eat in our car. Lovely location. Food took a rather long time to get. The pizza was quite bland. Cheese on it was good quality, but sauce and crust were average. I didn't particularly like the soup at all. The marinara on the pasta was good. I got the penne pasta. It was kind of sweet, which I was surprised to really enjoy. The pasta seemed like it had been made and sitting in water for many hours before it got to my plate. They also said my soup/pasta combo came with bread, and it did not.
The salad was cold and crisp and plentiful with an excellent Italian dressing. The only disappointment was that the roll that the meatball sandwich used tasted like it had been microwaved. The meatballs and cheese were very good.
If you’re looking for a delicious sandwich and a welcoming environment, look no further than Adriana’s on the Hill. This beloved family owned establishment offers a delectable selection of traditional deli sandwiches, beverages, and sweet treats to round out your meal. My personal favorite is “Mary’s Special” - a tantalizing combination of savory garlic cheese bread and succulent roast beef (almost as delightful as its namesake!). Whenever I’m near The Hill, I always stop by Adriana’s!
Aw man that was delicious! That was our first time to try Adriana's but we love the restaurants on The Hill, so we decided to try it out today and we are so glad we did! EXCELLENT Roast Beef options and well all the food was superb, really. Get there early for ginormous oooey gooey butter cookies...we missed out on those today because we got there too late!! The Hill never fails, thanks guys!!
Husband and I had an early lunch since we were in the Hill area. We each ordered the half meatball sandwich with side salad and determined if we had ordered the full sandwich and split it that would have been plenty to eat. Anyway if you like more sauce on sandwich be sure to ask when ordering. The meatball sandwich was showcased on Great Day morning show and it was as good as the reviews.
We come to the hill often for lunch. We often have wanted to try Adriana's but hadn't had the chance. We noticed the crowd filling the dining room as we drove by and decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did. We ordered roast beef sandwiches on cheese garlic bread. I ordered a whole sandwich while my spouse opted for the half sandwich and soup combo. Everything was excellent. The toasted seed garlic bread gave the sandwiches a nice crunch & the roast beef was excellent.
My order was running a bit later than expected, a woman who I suspect was the owner made it worth the wait. During my wait, I notice they make a point to ask the customer's name and use it as much as they can while that person is present to try and learn their name and that's just not something you see in customer service anymore, it was a really admirable thing to do. Always great food and always a great experience here.
Great sandwiches. It was busy but they made them quicky.
With extremely limited hours the food should be excellent, and this counter service sandwich shop does not disappoint!
I ordered one of the Italian sausage sandwiches and the bread was perfectly baked and the sausage was full of flavor and not tough or stringy. Every bite was mouth watering and delicious. I also highly recommend the (very large) iced cookies! Come early or you will be waiting a while as this place is very popular.
I'm looking forward to my next visit!
The meatball sliders were absolutely fabulous. The Nana sandwich is italian beef with an Italian sausage. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you’re in or near St. Louis, this is a MUST!! I always get the Faz and the Mambo Siciliano, but I’m sure everything here is just as delicious. Can’t miss the gooey butter cake either! The cashier is also such a pleasant lady.
This is a great place to enjoy a good lunch. Whether you want a sandwich or a pizza, it is all great food! Do not let the line out the door intimidate you, because it moves fast. I have tried almost everything on this menu, and I have not been disappointed yet. Every bite is just as savory and delicious as the last. I wish I could tell you a sandwich to get, but they are all good!
Very good. Portions are very generous and worth the reasonable price
Meatball and Mary's Special might be the 2 best sandwiches in town. Meatball sandwich seriously might be my favorite sandwich ever. I normally end up ordering a half sandwich of each and only eating half of each for lunch and taking the rest home for dinner. Staff is always super friendly. I have actually called in enough orders from my office they sometimes answer the phone "Hi Jeff!" 🤣
Cannot recommend enough. Like if my girlfriends parent were in town and wanted a sandwich, this is where I would take them.
I do not EVER leave reviews but THIS Mambo Siciliano! OMG, it's the BEST sandwich I've EVER HAD. I want to try them all now but I'm not sure I can get passed this sandwich. The bread, the acidity, the spices..I just can't. It's awesome!
Food was wonderful. I wish I would have figured out that they were not allowing dine in before I ordered $40 worth of food for my family. I understand, because of the pandemic but it might be worth telling people before they order. We were in town from Columbia and had eat outside in the 32 degree weather. I wasn't about to try to eat with toddlers in the car. I just would have picked a sit down spot on the Hill. Most people may have noticed, but I had two toddlers with me, and trying to order food. So obviously, I was distracted.
I liked my veggie sandwich with artichokes. It was toasted and fresh. Sandwich is rather on the large side and maybe bit too much for 1 meal. Splitting between two might work better.
The salad was delicious. The sandwiches were pedestrian, especially the salsaiccia. It had no flavor . . . and we were on the hill! My wife had the Teresa and it was a bit better. We're in no hurry to go back.
Probably the best sandwich in all of St. Louis. it's a little pricey but you get what you paid for. And worth every penny. Highly recommend.
I've been going here for over 20 years it's still fantastic. Mid week you can usually get the Sicilian slice is a inch and a half thick Pizza but more of a vegetable style Not much cheese or sauce. It is awesome! House salad is awesome also.
In my job I travel all over the greater St. Louis area and have the opportunity to try a wide variety of food.
We were on appointment in South City and decided to head to The Hill for lunch. We stopped in to Adiana's for a sandwich, and was not disappointed! I went with the Mambo sandwich, and my colleague went with the Mary's. Both were large portions and terrific!
This will certainly be a return visit when I'm in the area again.
Great place to get an Italian sandwich on the Hill. The line was out the door when we went, but it was well worth the wait. We got Mary's Special (hot roast beef) and the Sicilian Salsiccia. Both were excellent!! We will definitely be back!
Friendly staff and great food! They are short staffed, so wait time can be a little longer at times, but well worth it! If your looking for a hot sandwich try the Mary's add auju. It's delicious! Hot Roast Beef on Garlic cheese bread.Yum! For cold I suggest The Hillboy! If you like spicy definitely the Mambo! I like to add the special dressing sauce on it!
It was wonderful! My friend had never been to 'The Hill' so I took her today. I told her my husband's sisters loved Adriana's Salad so she tried it. She loved it! I usually get the meatball sub. It was good!
This is the best sandwich shop on the Hill, without a doubt. Their daily specials are almost always worth looking at. They have more sandwiches on the menu than I care to count, maybe 20 or 30. The pasta with red sauce is simple and amazing. The potato salad is homemade. All their ingredients are locally sourced right from the Hill, the neighborhood where the shop is located. My personal suggestion is to try the Teresa sandwich, or the Sunny if you're a vegetarian. Be warned though, the shop is usually very busy, but this is a testament to the quality of food that they put out. Also, pizza, cookies, desserts, and a great atmosphere.
Very good sandwich’s. Took them to go all the way to Springfield Illinois. They were perfect after being in the car that long. Will definitely be back!!! Thank you
The owner is very sweet and the food we ordered was delicious. The hot beef sandwich was tasty and juicy, but a little too salty. My dad and sister loved their broccoli & cauliflower soup as well as their pasta & meatball dish.
Amazing food, got the "Nino Special"... One of the best sandwiches I've ever had hands down.
The first time I came here I was 20 years old. My friend’s wonderful father (rest his soul) took my friend and I out to lunch.
He recommended a sandwich with beef and Gorgonzola cheese. It was so delicious, 19 years later I’ve never tried anything else.
Maybe this year I’ll try something new.
Here’s to 20 more years
My favorite place for lunch on the Hill and it's usually under $10. They have a good variety of daily specials and they are always creative with the offerings. There are over 20 sandwiches to choose from. I'm not usually a fan of tuna salad sandwiches but theirs is made without mayo and has a good mix of diced veggies in it. The people that work here are always so friendly and they keep the line moving well. I have not had the cookies yet but they always look tempting. This place is a gem.
I enjoyed my meatball sandwich. I also tried some of the sandwiches that my family got which were also good. That said, its just a sandwich shop. Staff was super friendly. If I lived near by I'm sure it would be a regular stop but I don't feel like I need to go out of my way to stop here again in future visits.
Excellent, the variety is amazing, and always delicious. They have one of the few Sicilian pizza's in St Louis (only on Friday). As always the service is slow, but the great tasting food & friendly ladies, more than make up for that. ciao john 🇮🇹 …
I have been to Adriana's many times when I am in town. It is always amazing and delicious. I go home and dream about the sandwiches and when I can return again. The potato salad and salad are also very good. The place is ran by the nicest people. One time we were there at closing and they sent us off with a bunch of bread and desserts :).
The food here was okay, though I could probably make the same sandwich at home with grocery store meat. The cheesy garlic bread was recommended, but I think they forgot the garlic. The line was expected so that wasn't a huge detriment to this review but you'd expect after waiting that long the sandwich would actually be exceptional. There is also very limited seating here.
Fav sandwich spot in St. Louis! Always call ahead if you’re picking up. I like the Teresa and Mambo Siciliano sandwiches the best!
Observing social distancing, outside dining, and mask wearing. The associate made helpful suggestions and saved me money. The food was D-licious!! I had the lunch special: mostaccoli, olive salad and a drink. It was a fantastic lunch after visiting the hospital. Easy to find with Google Maps directions!
I've been going here for years. My parents brought me and now bring my friends and family. My 5 year old eats everything here and always asks for it. Normally get the Theresa, with salad and a side of pasta. The cookies are the size of your face which she always looks forward to. Line can be long during lunch rush but seems to move along fine. Definitely worth the trip...you wont be disappointed. And the owner and the family are always very friendly!!
We had lunch here today for the 1st time! Delicious!
It's great every time. It's my favorite hot sandwich IN THE WORLD. No exaggeration. The Teresa is the top of my sandwich list.
Bonus points for the family run business that has been ingrained in each generation and passed down to the next.
Had the meatball sliders and penne pasta. It was delicious.
They have amazing sandwiches!
One of my very favorite local haunts. Sandwiches are delicious and filled with tasty treats. My two favorites are the Hill Boy and the Italian Salsicca. Only open for lunch and there is ALWAYS a line. So come early, and decide what you want BEFORE you get to the counter. Line moves quickly, but only if you know what you want.
Diane was such a great help to me when planning our son’s rehearsal dinner in St Louis. We are from out of town and needed to count on everything happening as we discussed. Everything was done exactly as we planned and the food we ordered was delicious!! Thank you for your help and guidance!
My go-to sandwich shop on the Hill. If the Naked Ravioli Sandwich is ever available on the daily special, Get It! But you can order anything and be satisfied. They've got a killer double chocolate gooey butter cake. Quick service and good prices.
I tried the Hill Boy and Sunny's Veggie and both were great in their own way. The Hill Boy was a classic cold deli sandwich with good flavor. Sunny's Veggie was popping with flavors and had a fantastic Italian spice to it. Even though the line was long, it moved pretty quickly.
Although busy, Adriana's staff were very kind and cheery. The food was amazing and the portions were large--well worth the money and time.
You won’t be disappointed when you order food from here! We had a big work party (30 people) that we had to order for and Adriana’s hit it out of the park! The food was ready when we went to pick it up, all the hot food was still steaming when we got back to work, and the sandwiches were fresh as could be. If you have to get lunch for 2 or 30, this is the place you want to order from!
Our first time at Adriana's and we'll definitely go back. My husband and I moved here from New Jersey a year ago and didn't think the Italian food in STL could be as good as back home. The meatball parm sliders... enough said! Absolutely AMAZING! The subs and salads are great too!
Great sandwiches, friendly staff, and decently fast considering it was packed to the gills. Was super worried about getting a table as we stood in line, but tables clear pretty quickly. Decent value for the cost.
I would definitely eat here again.
I love the employees, everyone KS always so friendly. They make you feel like you're at home, and haven't pointed me in the wrong direction yet. BEST salad ever, and the Sunny's Veggie is fantastic!
Stopped for lunch around 1:30, were almost dissuaded by the long line but it moved quickly. Placed our order, paid, were assured we made great choices and were assisted in choosing the best piece of gooey butter cake. We ordered combos to be able to try four different things but it would have been less expensive to order one whole sandwich and a side. That being said, the bread pushed the incredible sandwiches over the top. Should have written this a week ago when I could remember exactly what we got but I do remember mine was like a spicey Italian sub and here was a vegetarian sub. Both flavorful and yummy. The three bean salad was awesome, the pasta salad was good, too. Will eat here again!
January 16, 2020 i went into Adriana's & tried one of their sandwiches for the first time & i have to say that i was very impressed. Ben's Special had me at home eating like a Viking, can't wait to return & try something else.
Best sandwich I’ve had, and the owner was very kind. We wanted to check out a lunch place authentic to “the hill” and are glad we chose this!
I am just blown away at the level of customer service at Andria’s. The food is pretty great but the service is impeccable. Oh, and if you still have some room after your delicious meal, you MUST try one of their cookies for dessert. I promise you will not regret it!!!
LOVE THIS PLACE!! We come here at least once a week, and there is NEVER disappointment from cuisine quality or the staff ( who always speak to everyone in a super friendly manner ).... 'nuff said! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Couldn't figure out how to write this review from my phone while I was still there, so writing after the fact. I was near The Hill in St. Louis after going to the zoo with my family and wanted some good Italian lunch, quick and cheap. Googled "Quick Lunch at The Hill St. Louis" and Adriana's popped up at the top of the list. It didn't have a lot of reviews, but the ones it had were all good. So I told Android to navigate there, and 10 minutes later we were inside a quaint Italian diner that smelled wonderful and had a delicious menu with great prices. I had the meatball sub with homemade meatballs and a really good sauce. The bread seemed like a bit much at first, but I understood it's purpose by the end... to soak up all that delicious sauce and bits of meat. My wife had the Italian Beefs sandwich which was also very good. It was served on garlic bread but the beef flavor was the star. Wife's grandmother had the pasta special of the day with the homemade tomato/basil sauce. Again, delicious. Kids had pepperoni pizza and loved it. We all had house salad with house dressing and liked it a lot. Also had a single piece of the Chocolate Gooey Butter Cake which was very good... kinda like a dense brownie. Highly recommended for a quick, inexpensive and delicious lunch. We spent only about $30- $35 for 3 adults and 2 kids. By the way, we arrived at about 11 on a Wednesday and were some of the first people there, but it started filling up quickly.
I've been coming here for 20+ years now. I typically take a date here to show her a hidden gem. Family owned and operated. You can find the namesake of the restaurant behind the register taking your order. I've had nearly the entire menu and the hardest part of eating here is deciding what deliciousness I'm after on a given day. The Mary's Special and Penne are to die for.
Adrianas is phenomenal. We go here every time we come to St Louis. They are very kind and help you pick from their amazing menu. Make sure you get a chocolate crack cookie. They are awesome. Love this place
From the food to the atmosphere everything was impeccable. The service was outstanding!
This is honestly not only the best sandwich place in the entire STL region, but it is also ran by some of the most welcoming and friendly staff ever. Family ran, with strong family values, and it shows in the love they put in their food. And to that I say THANK YOU!
Visited the place for the first time yesterday. We were fortunate that the line was short although my friend told me that the usually the lines/queue runs out to the street. So, I had guessed the food would have to that good to justify the wait.By the time I was done with the food, the only thing I could think of was why did it take me 3 years to visit the place. I was able to finally understand why people would wait that long. The food and the host were simply fabulous. It looked like (and I'm assuming it is) an all women show (host, server and the kitchen crew).
I'd ordered the Suny's Veggie and two of the day's special items : the Sicilian slice (square shaped deep dish style slice from a four cheese pizza) and the Lemon Basil Pasta salad. The sandwich was toasted to perfection, the marinara sauce on the Sicilian slice would beat or atleast stand tall against any local pizza joints or the deep dish options in Chicago, and the lemon basil pasta salad was to die for. The food just brought back flavors & memories from my trip to Italy in 2016.
I was tempted to try one of the cookies or the gooey butter cake (all desserts made in-house) initially but that was a good choice as I was full by the time I was done.
A must-visit for anyone who's in the mood for Italian !!
Great family run business. The sandwiches are huge and delicious! They use the best bread. Would highly recommend the Franco!
Everything we ordered was delicious. Its nice to find a sandwich that's not all bread, made with quality ingredients (volpi), and dressed with a delicious homemade vignette. There are a lot of places to eat in the neighborhood that are just ok. This is not one of them. This place is legit.
Meatball sandwich is the best thing ive ever ate. Love love everything they offer and the staff is the best. Parking can be a little hard to find and the line is always long for a reason so plan accordingly. Best lunch in all of the lou!
First time visit, and it was fantastic!! I will be back to work my way through the menu! Great, friendly service too! 👍
Waited 40 minutes to get food. Had to circle the tables like a vulture to grab one as soon as it opened. Paid $12 for a sandwich and soda. AND IT WAS WORTH EVERY MINUTE AND EVERY PENNY. Best Italian beef sandwich I've ever had..... And I've had a few. Would give ten stars if I could.
Love this place. I've had most sandwiches on the menu. Homemade soups are great. Pasta is killer. Baked goods are delightful. The staff is awesome. Family owned place.
Best sandwiches in STL. Wonderful people with great service
Literally one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. My husband and I came to st.louis to visit and stopped here to eat. My husband paid and we ate in the car and I went in after we were finished to see the deserts...they asked where I was from Bc I had on shorts and it’s 60 degrees outside and I replied “I’m stationed in VA so I wasn’t really prepared for the weather here”. one thing led to another and they gave me back $5 for the food he purchased and a free gooey butter and told me “we take care of our services members” and it absolutely made me love them. They made me smile the whole 14 hour drive back to VA.
One of our favorite finds on our trip. Docent at Shrine of St. Joseph directed us here. Food was wonderful. Service was above and beyond, as we got there right before closing. Will go back if we ever get to St. Louis again.
Had the penne pasta and salad. Both were very tasty. A quaint little mom and pop place in a little Italian neighborhood. Would love to return sometime soon and try some of their delicious looking sandwiches.
Fantastic as always.. you can order online now they have a market too.
This place is always crowded and for good reason. Delicious, quickly served food with extensive menu and great daily specials. Don't miss this spot--friendly service folks as well.
One of the more casual style restaurants in The Hill neighborhood of St. Louis. Counter service that is similar to local delis. The salsa is ok and the sandwich was pretty light on the meat. The price was pretty high considering the quality. Most restaurants in this area are overpriced and overrated.
Best Italian sandwiches in the town
I get the same thing every time. I know other things in the menu would be delicious, but the Gorgonzola Beef is just to good to skip over. It's always busy, but the line moves fast.
Without question or reservation, Adriana's is one of the few truly great lunch eateries. Everything served is impeccable, fabulous, yummy food. That the service, the kitchen, the entire operation is also so friendly and casual makes the culinary accomplishment all the more amazing. KICKASS food without a hint of pretense. I visit St. Louis because I love my friends there; and while I'm there I visit Adriana's as often as possible because I love Adriana's.
This is an experience you won't want to miss. The food is out of this world and the service and atmosphere are the perfect compliment. I've been here several times and it's always top-notch! Cheers to many more visits and happy customers
I have been going here since I was a kid and it is the best launch spot in St. Louis. LOL I just drove now 70 minutes for roast beef sandwich. It’s called Mary special I could eat it every day
I haven't been to every lunch place in the world, and that is just too bad for all those other places because they will never have a chance now. That being said, this may sound a little biased, but in my opinion, this is the best place in the world to eat lunch... PERIOD. Hands down the best place in the city of St. Louis.
Prepare to wait at almost any time of the day. But, the wait is worth it! Excellent sandwiches and salads. The service may look intimidating with all of the people sitting, standing, and in the line but the service is typically prompt and spot-on. One of our favorite lunch spots!
Excellence in Form and Function! Best Sandwich shop in this Solar System!
First time here and already know they're gonna be my go-to for lunch. Close to my job, and their sandwiches definitely bang for the buck. Beyone impressed. Will finish my meal later and report back because I am already thoroughly stuffeddd!!!
Best Cafe in the city. The owner is thoughtful and kind and the atmosphere is one of a kind. I'd give 10 stars if I could.
Delicious food, friendly people.
Great intimate casual dining setting for lunch. Excellent menu offering varied Italian sandwiches, pizzas and soups. Reasonable $ and great service! A must go for families visiting STL.
Best Sandwiches is St.Louis. I get the Teresa almost everytime (Turkey, Bacon Swiss). Sometimes I add salami or mortadella to kick it up a notch. Their Soups are always really good as well. Also they have the quintessential Gooey Butter Cake. The staff is always so friendly. It's an absolutel StL treasure or a eatery.
Just went for the first time. My sandwich was absolutely great and probably too much for my lunch break! I will be back and highly recommend!
I tried the Grace sandwich, and it was delicious. As a female who tired not to eat too much, the sandwich wasn't overly large and the half was perfect for lunch. Some sandwiches places are far too much and put me in a food coma.
Hands down the best Sandwich shop in St. Louis. Even better it is Italian so you know there is flavor. From the sandwich bread to the Limoncello cookies you can't go wrong.
My absolute favorite place for lunch in STL. Very friendly staff and exceptionally tasty Italian. Had a long line usually but it moves quickly and the wait is so worth it. Anything and everything is good, can't go wrong
Absolutely the best. If you haven't been there you dont know what you're missing. Food is second to none and the family that works there make it ten times better. More than friendly, made me feel like family. I think im I'm going to move to the Hill, just to be closer to the place.
The crowd is a good indicator of how great this place is. Don't let it scare you though, they keep it moving and it is well worth it. Multiple veggie options, which is great too. Always worth a stop.
The Gorgonzola Dip is excellent, but you better like Gorgonzola. Adriana (mom) herself did a great job of cautioning us boys that we better 'be sure' we like Gorgonzola, if not the Mary Special is a great hot beef on toasted garlic bread alternative. Thanks mom!
Great lunch place. Some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The meatball sliders are the best.
Incredible tomato sauce. I got the meatball sandwich and I wished I had ordered extra sides of tomato sauce because it is to die for. Sad I live in another state, otherwise I’d be here everyday. Awesome!
This is the best. Not one of, the best. I'm having my favorite Sicilian Salsicca sandwich. Awesome, freindly, big portions, just can't be beat. Plus you never know who you might see in here.
Even with the Christmas weekend upon them, the staff presented a genuineness of greeting and making patrons feel welcome. The pizza, salad and garlic cheese sticks were flavorful.
I've been here twice and found it to be excellent. I've tried the soup, sandwiches and salad, and all are top notch. There is only one pasta dish and it seems like more of a side than anything . . . it's just ok.
I've been coming here for years and it is always an amazing experience. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Top 3 best sandwich shops in STL
Italian Tuna and house salad are fabulous!
Diana is adorable.
Delicious! I had the daily special, Sloppy Giuseppe's, and it was very good! Fairly long line, but I was glad to have the time to decide what I wanted. Absolutely worth the wait!
Delicious lunch! We had a 1/2 sandwich and salad... service was quick and good tastefully prepared. Recommend the meatball sandwich highly.
I never miss going to Adriana's when I visit my daughter at SLU. I'll miss it dearly when she graduates. I am partial to the Mambo Siciliano, but everything I have tried there is great
Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I felt like I'd just walked into my Auntie's kitchen. We devoured the Mary's Italian and the meatball on garlic bread. Will most definitely be back.
The salad was absolutely delicious. I could eat their meatball sliders everyday! They have some of the best cookies in town!
Always count on the freshest, most tasty sandwiches, salads and soups...and a plentiful amount for the price. Cannot go wrong with any item on menu!
A little crowded, for all the right reasons!
Hands down the best sandwiches I have ever had. Highly recommend the gorgonzola dip! Best roast beef ever! Will return here when we come back to Saint louis
Went there today and ordered a hot roast beef sandwich in a side salad. Cost over 14 dollars. I've eaten there in the past in love their food. This time that was not my experience. Meat on sandwich was super skimp....so skimp I put all the meat from one half on the other half. Way tooo much bun. No only that but the meat tasted like it was boiled too long.....not much flavor. I will go back but will definately skip the hot roast beef and definately avoid the 4 dollar side salad
Tried Adriana's for the first time today after seeing the rating here. The rating was spot on. It may not be Gordon Ramsey-esque, but screw him if he can't enjoy Adriana's! If you want an easy, casual, delicious, fresh, and affordable lunch place, then visit Adriana's. Choose from a large variety of sandwiches, salad and soup options, pasta with an amazing red sauce, and pizza. This is fast, fresh, homestyle Italian for all to enjoy. Seriously! GO HERE!
Busy, busy, busy. The food is good & the atmosphere is great if u like crowds. If not u can always call in & pick up. Dont forget to ask for soup of the day & lunch specials
Best sandwiches in town. Got the pizza today for the first time. Really delicious, fresh toppings.
Super good sandwiches 🥪. …
This place has perfected any and every variation of an Italian sandwich! Great prices, super friendly staff, and amazing desserts!
Fantastic food! Sandwiches, soup, and salad. The menu isn't big, but big taste and wholesome Italian food satifies everyone! Definately worth your time.
Quick good tasting large sandwiches next time in town will stop by again. Saw ad on a lawer commercial so we checked it out glad we did.
Lunch - a must. Period... Sandwiches to die for.... just wish they would open up again and ditch the masks... covid is over. The plan demic is done. Let's eat!!!!
Hot beef sandwich is amazing!
Fast and friendly service. Line was long but moved quickly. Ordered a half sandwich with the olive salad for a side. Both were delicious.
The food was really great! It’s a busy spot but it was worth it. I got the half and half meatball sandwich and cheese bread and loved it.
I got the Mary's Special. It's basically your favorite "french dip" sandwich x1000. The garlic bread was awesome and the meat was flavorful and tedner.
Old school Italian deli. Huge servings, so bring your appetite. I had the Mambo and would get it again. Only ate half, saved the rest for lunch the next day. Adriana was the woman behind the counter taking my order. She was as friendly as could be. I will be back!!!
Absolutely hands down the best sandwich pizza among others on the hill not one place is better. Period
Best sandwiches in STL. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Get there early or you'll be waiting. Totally worth it.
Superb Italian/Sicilian sandwiches, salads and limoncello cookies. Better than any chain sandwich shop. If fortunate, you'll meet Adriana, a conversant person who knows food!
Perfect Italian deli. Well done cold cuts, meatball sandwich, italian beef. Tastes fresher and less greasy than other delis on the hill. My go to place.
Tasty food and super-friendly service.
Really friendly. Even if its the first time you're walking in, they treat you like you're family. On top of that, the food is great.
Best deli around. I'm from new York. And this is my go to when I want a taste of home. It's just like a neighborhood sandwich shop back home.
Great food, especially the chicken tomato basil soup, great prices and the place was busy yet they still served us quickly. Great quick eats for anyone.
The best thing about this cafe is the people who work there...very friendly & excellent customer service. It felt like lunch w/ family even though I was there alone. Oh, and the food was A-mazing!
Now get there early the line for sandwiches can get long the closer you get to noon to one. You'll order at the counter and pick up at the counter but the sandwiches are unique and phenomenal.
Adriana's is always tasty. I get the half Joe sandwich with half house salad, no provel. Be careful coming for lunch because you will wait in line.
I love this place! The sandwiches are great and the staff is friendly. One of the only places open on a Monday in the Hill neighborhood.
Scicillian lunch place. So delicious, whenever we come to St. Louis we make sure to eat at Adriana's. Pizza, sandwiches and Gooey Butter Pie (a quirky local delight).
I've had lots of veggie sandwiches and I was let down because all it had on it was lettuce, tomato, green peppers and some dressing. I was very disappointed.
Wonderful staff and delicious food
Outstanding food and friendly staff. As busy as they were (the line went around the room!) they were quick with the service and everyone was deleriously happy with their food.
Roast beef on garlic bread (Mary's special) + potato salad is the way to go. Super friendly service (met Adriana at the cash register) that makes you feel welcome.
1st time, definitely won't be my last..
Got the special, meatball on garlic w/ a salad 2 ppl could've eaten..
Excellent salads and sandwiches in a casual setting. We were there around 1:30 and the line was fairly long, but the wait was worth it.
Outstanding!!! Sandwiches are high and delicious.
I'm so in love with this place ! There mary's special is to die for ! And I love there meatball sub it's so flavorful. Not to forget the people who work there are so sweet ! Must stop and enjoy in St. Louis
First time here. Had lunch half and half for lunch....Italian Beef sandwich and pasta with Red Sauce; yum! Can't wait to go back.
I had the half sandwich and pasta salad both were excellent, parking is a bit tough at lunch but worth a visit. I will be back soon.
Great sandwichs and pasta, but their soups are definitely outstanding I don't know what season with but can't eat it fast enough,
I had the Half and Half (Menza Menza) Lunch special- Meatball Sandwich and House Salad. It was excellent! Neat little cafe setting and the place is hopping! Bon Appetit!
Go here for the meatballs. Everything else is great but the meatballs are awesome. They also make good salads, nothing fancy, just delicious.
The line was really long but the service was fast. The food was delicious and the place waa very clean. This is an excellent spot for lunch.
The sandwiches are top notch. This cozy little place is perfect place to grab some great italian pasta, pizza and salads.
Staff is super friendly. Food was great and huge portions. Try the half and half the house salad is great and sandwich is huge for a half.

Best Roast Beef sandwich (The Mary) had a piece of gooey butter cake YUM
The best sandwich shop on the hill... Not just my opinion, look at the lines. My number one place for lunch in the area.
Food good and people very nice but the 1$ is inaccurate in the Google search. Should be 3 $$$. Could eat anywhere on Hill for same price.

Incredibly good sandwiches. Generous portions. Friendly staff and nice neighborhood atmosphere!!
Pretty good sandwich. Not sure if it was worth the crowd and the wait in line but overall it was a fun experience.
Best spot in the stl area! I have been eating here for ten years now, and yet to find another place with such amazing food or people!
