Holy moly this place was a great find. I was looking for some food after my route at FedEx today and stumbled upon this hidden gem. I love everything about this place. Great vibe and great food all around. I got a 1/2 sandwich and it was colossal...and for a great price. They also have the mother load of hot sauce here. Service was awesome as well. Will be going back at least once a week while working on the road

This place is always solid!!! The sandwiches are great quality and huge (2-3 meals for me). Great hot sauce selection. The owner is really nice as well. Great little patio outside

My first visit but had to go as I was intrigued when I was told it is the longest continually operating deli in Utah. There is no indoor seating, a couple of picnic benches outside, so prepare to take your order to go. Sandwiches are huge, so I ordered the half sandwich which is STILL huge! They're very generous with meats and cheeses and thankfully put pepperoncini 'on the side'! We arrived fight in front of lunch rush at 11 a.m. and it appears that ordering ahead is the smart choice. The deli is at the rear of a small market with well-stocked shelves. Be prepared to wait as they make sandwiches individually for walk-in orders but there's plenty to look at while you wait (just not a lot of room!) There's room for maybe 3 vehicles to park on the side street (Grove St) but plenty of parking in the lot across the side street.

Great big sandwich!! Couldn't even get my mouth around it! Line a little slow, but worth the "old school" experience and wait. Definitely friendly staff who seem to care about what they're doing versus most food places these days. If you're into various hot sauces, they have a huge selection.

I usually get the full pastrami sandwich with ghost pepper cheese from the deli, it's always so good. Grove Market has a wide variety of different tasty hot sauces from mild to inferno. They carry delicious eclairs and other yummy pastries.The staff is always friendly and helpful. I've been going to Grove Market frequently for the last 7 years, have never had a bad experience and would recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it.

I went got turkey sandwich. I told sandwich maker 3 or 4 times. I didn't want any pickles or peppers with sandwich or on it he said ok. But when I got outside an started eating sandwich. I could taste the dill pickle juice then, I see the dill pickle. An as pulling pickles then smell the peppers and then see them. An before he start sandwich he was winning to himself the customers before didn't leave him any tips. It was good sandwich but, I don't like dill pickles or little yellow pepper. It's my sandwich and, I'm paying for it like $ 12.50 plus $ 1.00 tip.

Go to Groves. Enormous delicious sandwiches with thick cut deli meats on fat French bread subs. One "full" is about 10 to 13 bucks and can easily serve two to four people. The market itself is packed full of specialty sauces, olives, marinades and other tasty surprises. Groves is a Utah secret staple for delicious sandwiches inside a fun little market.

This is the place! For deli sandwiches. So big they can feed 2 people for 3 days. Big John Combo sandwich is the one to get, however; you cant go wrong here! Prices are almost too low for what you get. Big John is only $15. Locals only cuz! I’m not sure out of towners can appreciate this type of yummy Utah goodness. Patio seating in the summer time. Oh my heck, fetch yes! Be nice to the staff and buy things in the store. It’s a family owned business that works really hard to make us happy. Yes they have chips, cold beers, and sodas. It’s a market too with fresh fruits and vegetables as well as anything else you need. Locals Secret: you can phone it in; it’s recommended.

We haven't been here to Grove Market & Deli in several years, mostly because we don't go down main street very often. We will start coming back here much more often, for sure. They make the best sandwiches in town, here at Grove Market & Deli!. Their hours are 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday thru Friday, and 10 am to 3 pm on Saturdays. They really do make the best Deli Sandwiches in town!

alright this my be a bit unpopular but size alone should not get you amazing stars. Taste has to be there. Now I had the meatball sub. The bread was great 4.5/5 but the meatballs were your store bought costco meatballs. It just wasnt anything to write home about. Now the size could feed a small village which is cool but the taste was not there.

When I come to visit my kids this is one place I come for lunch. My favorite is the Big John. It's got all my favorite meats. I cut it into four pieces and take my time to eat it. It was nice to see the same older man working as I did years ago. I like the set up they have during Covid. I called ahead and it was ready in 15 minutes. They are the best! Make the trip!

I’d been wondering why there’s a line in front of this small convenience store for a long time. Finally got a chance to drop by and check it out. First impression is that they’re doing a nice job with the social distancing and Covid measures. I thought prices seemed high for sandwiches so I got a half size roasted chicken. This is the first time I’ve gotten a half sandwich and wondered if I can finish it. Too tall to bite almost. Definitely need two hands to eat. They’re generous with the portions. Ingredients are fresh. Great sandwich places from my first experience here.

Can you say big sandwich? I can’t cause my mouth is full! I was so hungry and it was so good that I forgot to take a “before” pic! Be sure to check the deli case for prepare sandwiches and salads. My friends and I typically share a large Deluxe or a Big John at about $5-6/each for a half. Great selection of drinks, fruit and desserts too!

As noted by others, it's an old style deli market. Sandwiches are great, and it's got a super selection of hot sauces and similar specialty foods. Try the seafood sandwich!

First off, these are the only giant sandwiches worth eating. Not only are they huge but they taste great, on par with any "best of" sandwiches anywhere in the area. One sandwich could easily be split 3-4 ways. Not too crowded we ordered in advance and our order was ready 30 minutes later but the folks that ordered in person were getting their orders in 5 minutes or so.

What a place! Hidden gem for sure as we were traveling through SLC. Got the Big John, and they aren’t kidding when they say big. As I was told by the very friendly deli workers, it weighs in at 3 lbs! Very reasonable pricing and nice atmosphere. You’d have to eat outside if you want to eat there.

I love this place. I've been coming here for over 20 years. My ex-wife turned me on to this place, and it was one of the few things, other than our kids, for which I appreciate her 💯🥳. The sandwiches are served on large ambassador rolls, the bread is always soft and flaky, the portions are huge, and the selection of items in their market is wider than you'll find at most grocery stores. They carry a lot of niche items, fun local treats, and delicacies. Check this place out if you're ever down near 21st and Main. They are awesome and I hope they stay in business forever.

Nobody makes sandwiches like this anymore. Fresh bread, thickly piled meat, truly fresh ingredients. It has an old style deli feel, since it is, quality costumer service, and delicious sandwiches. I haven't even mentioned the impressive hot sauce selection and delicious fresh made salads, sides, and deserts. A Salt Lake City classic that deserves lots of customers. Highly recommend.

The Big John is an incredible sandwich, so big and delicious, my husband and I split one and if we are extremely hungry we can sometimes finish it, but it's big! The breads crust is like a bakery crust, crunchy, but so soft underneath that beautiful crust, then they pile on so many different meats and the condiments are amazing too! My husband's co-worker bought him one of these and he brought me the other half and I've craved it ever since! You have to try this and the delicious lemon bars and brownies, ummm, can I just say AWESOME!

I love coming here with my family. The environment is amazing and so is the food. One large sandwich is around the same price as what you would pay at subway or other competitors. The sandwiches are always made with the freshest meats, cheeses, and vegetables and are so large it can last longer than one meal. The staff is very friendly and are dealing with the covid restrictions very well. It is worth taking the trip here to get food!

Fantabulistic! Absolutely delicious food. My boyfriend and I decided to try eating here a few weeks ago and have already eaten here three times. It’s just so good. Great on the budget as well, for about $10-12 you get an enormous sandwich that can last you for 2-3 meals. Every sandwich we have tried has left us satisfied and happy. It’s been a real long time since I went to a restaurant and didn’t head home, only to find something missing or something just not sitting right. Everything has been perfect. Their chicken salad is amazing by the way (I mean everything is). So far it is our absolute favorite, #1 chicken salad in the valley in my opinion. One last thing, they have some tasty hot sauces and jams inside that can go on just about anything. Check em out!

Had the BLT with with extra bacon!! The price may seem a little steep for a sandwich but the full was much more sandwich to me than one meal. Ate the other half for dinner and will be back for more great sandwiches In the future! (I suggest ordering ahead of time because it does get a bit busy during lunch hour)

I work in the area and recently discovered this place! I mostly just go there for the deli sandwiches they are fantastic sandwiches that taste great! I always order a half sandwich because I can't eat a full its just that big. Its like a stack of meat on a bit of bread and its great. I recommend sticking to somethin easy when ordering they have gotten my order wrong twice for two different reasons since I started going weekly. Still worth it this place is great!

Their sandwiches are Huge, Fresh, and just plain AMAZINGl! I have come here on and off for over 30 years and have never had anything but an awesome experience. Their sandwiches have always been takeout but they do have tables with shade umbrellas on the patio/sidewalk outside the front door. The grocery store portion is currently closed off to the public due to Covid. They have a service counter setup across the entrance door. You can purchase anything they have (including the sandwich menu) by either placing a phone order or ordering in person at this the counter.

This place still rocks and the sandwiches you can eat literally for 3 meals. Staff is great and fast if it's your lunch break. It has it's very own mom and pop convenience store and charm. If you like hot sauce, this is definitely the place to dive into! I ordered the Turkey and avocado... never disappointed. Custom ordered and is expected. Still making delicious, big sandwiches. Big John is still the BIG John. No dine-in right now. I suggest calling ahead, then going to the front of the line to pay and pick it up when you arrive. The counter staff told me they are okay with this process because there will be a long line of people ordering. If you're reading this and standing in line right now, the menu is online, so try calling it in. It will take about 25 minutes to make your sandwich anyway. There's shade trees across the street and a big parking lot. Don't miss this place when you come to SLC. It's our Pat's or Geno's.

Incredible gem of a sandwich shop. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Incredible customer service and the best sandwich in Salt Lake (honestly, dare I say north America). Absolutely love this place. I want to say hidden gem but I feel like a lot of folks know about it (I'm fairly new to town). HUGE and delicious sandwiches and they throw in a bunch of pickled jalapenos to boot. I can't wait to try the full menu here and take home some of their hot sauces.

I love this little market and deli. Whenever i am nearby at lunch time i have to stop in for a sandwich and to see what new and exciting items they have in stock. They have a huge selection of hot sauces and often have European treats hard to find elsewhere, and of course the sandwiches. These latter are huge, tasty, and worth what little wait there may be. I've known this place for fifty years. They used to be a market before they started making their own sandwiches. If you want the best sandwich in the Salt Lake Valley you'll stop in here. The Price is Right for the amount of food that you'll get and the bread is always fresh with the moist inside and crusty outside. They also have different kinds of bread and any sandwich you can pretty much imagine. I bought a pickle today and it was the biggest pickle I've ever purchased anywhere. In fact, it was the most delicious pickle I've purchased. I have nothing but praise for this family that keeps it going. If you want is treat of the sandwich please try Grove's Market. This place knows what they want to do, and they do it well. This is not boars head fancy sandwiches. It's standard level cold cuts with standard accompaniments stacked high and deep on a very tasty crusty loaf of soft bread. There's several tables out front with umbrellas. Since it's a mini-mart as well, there is even a decent beer selections for your pleasure. On my first visit with the wife we couldn't finish the sandwich we shared. When I was there with my father we got one sandwich and a small potato salad. It ended up perfect for three people. The pastries in the front were seriously good looking as well. I don't do many five star reviews, but when a place advertises sandwiches and delivers like this, it has to be as good as it gets. As others have said, there's one serious selection of hot sauces here as well.

My children request a Big John weekly bc the sandwich is insanely good, but the company is even better. Everyone that works there has been there since I started going about 10 years ago. They care about your experience and their sandwiches are ridiculously scrumptious and reasonably priced. I go out of my way with two children under the age of 7 to stand in line for up top 30 minutes. If I am willing to let my two hyper children wait that long for a sandwich you have to know it is worth the wait. This is the only place I wait in line for food and that says a lot. If you're looking for a sandwich that will utterly blow your mind get a Big John, I promise you won't be disappointed. You might even end up with a sandwich addiction. 😆

Large selection of awesome hot sauces too if you're into that. Speaking of, you can also get ghost pepper cheese on any sandwich. Anyways, it's a Salt Lake staple for anyone who knows, check it out. I can't rave about this place enough! These sandwiches can wake you from a dead sleep! I get the pastrami; everything on it. Trust me you won't regret it! Especially if you like yourself a big sandwich. You can usually get a full and split it between two people and both of you are stuffed! But don't forget to grab yourself an eclair for later! Even thinking about it makes me want to drive out there just for one they have the sweetest bakery treats that are also local! By far the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. And it's not just the quantity it's the quality. These sandwiches are great. It's a bit of a pain to navigate through the tiny shop when it's busy at lunch time but it's worth it. My favorite is the deluxe. Be sure to check out their AMAZING selection of hot sauces. Stuff you didn't know existed but you'll really want to try. The drink, chips and fruit selection is really good too. Really nice little shop.

Had no clue what I was getting myself into with the sandwiches here. They are massive!! Husband and I both ordered a sandwich and I decided to pay the extra $1 for some sides. Mac salad and beans are excellent and we both loved our sandwiches. BLT was packed with bacon and layered really well so none of the insides fell out. Definitely coming back, probably going to split a sandwich or order half sizes next time because we both barely made it through 1/2 a sandwich 😂

Our mom used to take us here as kids. It was excellent then, and the quality has never decreased. The sandwiches are always massive and delicious! This is our go-to when packing for a hike or bike ride around the city. This place is the best. All the employees are polite and respectful, and their sandwiches are unreal. They are always fresh, and always filling. I've been going there for over ten years and do not have one bad thing to say about it. I read that someone had compared Groves Market to subway.. To me that is absolutely ridiculous. My family gets two full size sandwiches and two regular drinks and it comes out to be about $25.00. Which is well worth the money, considering that the sandwiches are made from a full loaf of fresh French bread and they actually put a damn good amount of meat and whatever else you want on the sandwich. Tucked away in the back of a quaint, little, neighborhood grocery store is the best sandwich shop on the planet. No one friendlier than owner, Jim Savas! Decades of friendly service and great big, yummy sandwiches! Outside seating with umbrellas make for a perfect lunch setting. My work ordered from here on Friday and let me tell you! OMG, the best sandwich in Utah hands down. I’m originally from the NE and since moving here 12 years ago I’ve have had really hard time finding great food and mom and pop places. The hoagie was AMAZING! Can’t wait to try the rye bread. Anyways, sandwich was piled high with meat, not all veggies like so many places do. The only thing to make this a better sandwich is to use Boars Head. Can’t wait to eat here again

This place is incredible!! It is so worth the wait!! It's a very small store, filled with goodies "to look at while you wait". We come here for the sandwiches. Can't say it's pricey when you get a sub made on French bread! (It's huge fyi, totally shareable) They also have a small variety of things in the deli, a yummy sounding daily special and a fresh fruit stand that was located at the front with what looked like the best pickings. My favorite sandwich in the valley has got to be the big John special here ham, bologna, corned beef, roast beef, turkey and pastrami topped with swiss and American cheese. It may seem a bit expensive at $11.49 but you can feed at least 2 and up to 4 people with this thing, it easily weighs 2-3 lbs me and my 3 kids split it and are full. High quality meats and a great crusty roll and their pickles are great too.

Be prepared to eat as they will serve you a loaf of bread with a pile of meat on it what they call a sandwich. They're so big my friend and I have to split a half and that is plenty of food for us when you include the delicious potato salad. This place has been around since I was a small child I have memories of walking from my great grandparents apartment at what is now the argyle to get supplements to the grocery list they've always had delicious sandwiches and pastries, I can't recommend this place highly enough.

My grandparents lived a few doors down on grove avenue when Grove Market opened their doors and were some of their very first customers! I have been visiting the deli there since the 70's and to this day haven't found a deli that compares. I just learned about Grove Market and Deli. I have driven past a hundred times and never seen it. I ordered the pulled pork with ghost pepper cheese. First of all, the ghost pepper cheese is GREAT! I like hot and it is hot. The pulled pork was absolutely perfect. Tender and packed with flavor. They put the bbq sauce on the side so it stays good to take home. Prices are great for the quantity you get. 1 sandwich is enough for two people. I definitely will be back.

This should be a UT staple and we need to call Guy and get this place featured on the food network! I got a sandwich about the size of my arm (I am 285lbs). Needless to say this sandwich and I almost got into a fist fight! I have to bow down and submit to the sand which, I was defeated. I couldn't even eat HALF of it. I could not believe how great the sandwich was and how much flavor all of the meat had. Absolutely unbelievable! This place is amazing and if you are in SLC, this place is a MUST! I have been in love with Grove Market for 20 years now. There have only been minor changes in that time. I have used Groves to cater and it is by far my most requested lunch. The full sandwich will fill even the heartiest of appetites. I also highly recommend going before noon to beat the lunch rush, and while you're there get a pastry. This place has got to be one of the best SLC local Deli in Salt Lake City. If you love pork get the Pulled pork sandwich with they peppers and sauce this makes my mouth water just thinking about it. If your not into pork their chicken salad is made by Angel or something, because it's so god damn savory! An the Deli is also a specialty convenience store, you can pick up any; sauces, chips, drinks or even smokes on your way out.

I have been a regular at Grove Market since 1987 and have never found a place that comes even close to the quantity or consistent quality of their food. I love taking newbies there for lunch (because their sandwiches are so large they require a lunch buddy) and watching their eyes bug out when they see the size of their half of the sandwich. This is an excellent value for the money and is a "must experience" if you are visiting in Utah and love deli sandwiches. Come extra hungry!

Grove's is a tiny neighborhood market in South Salt Lake that has one of the busiest sandwich delis in town! Sandwiches are built on freshly baked french bread and loaded up with your choice of ingredients. Get a half if you're really hungry or save what you don't eat for dinner. They are enormous. Don't go right at lunchtime - the line is to the door and there is no parking. There's only a couple of outside tables as well, so plan on finding a place to eat.

Grove Marketplace Deli I would highly recommend that if you are really really hungry for lunch and not and you want to really try and do good place try Groves Market Deli on Main Street just behind OC Tanner I mean when the most places say your order in that sandwich you don't get it. Gross don't compare to just a normal sandwich you get a sandwich.
