This is best sandwich shop! We travel to the Bar Harbor twice a year and stumbled on this place last year. Wish we had found the place sooner. The sandwiches are always delicious and fresh and the service is great even when they're busy.

The food and service are top notch. Because they are top notch there will always be a long line. Call ahead and order, if you come after 11:15 plan on a wait but great food.

Great sandwiches! A short, simple list with elegant combinations of ingredients. They all sounded like something exciting to try. The staff was super friendly and talkative. They also carry drinks, sodas and gorgeous cheesecake made by local businesses. A great place to stop in for lunch. Haven't seen what it's like around dinner time. We walked there from our Airbnb.

I'm continually impressed by the low-key deliciousness available here. The Back Shore is my favorite and offers ham, blue cheese, spinach, and grapes (pictured). Most sandwiches have a similar vibe. Perfect mix of savory and sweet. Local beers on tap, hot/cold sandwich options and soup. 3 veg options available. Usually not crowded. Once I biked here in the pouring rain and they offered me towels from the kitchen. I recommend it highly!

Good sandwiches, good soup, serves wine and beer, take out or dine in, kids menu, and most importantly a relaxing local environment. Offers gluten free options, though it's a bit of a price hike. Overall a wonderful place to stop for lunch.

Absolutely fantastic - these guys know what the hell they are doing when it comes to making sandwiches! Bread was fresh and perfect, the meat was mounded and delicious, and the spinach and sautéed onions were on point. Keep up the great work!

We were here over three years ago, but this place made such an imPRESSion on us while we were in "vacationland." Such a great atmosphere at this place. My sandwich was amazing. Loved the trivia with all the patrons. Not sure if you guys still do that, but I hope so! Will definitely eat here again whenever I visit Portland.

Local Press has the best Reuben evah! If you want a really delicious sandwich, not just the Reuben (my fave) then go to Local Press. Their sandwiches are packed full with goodness and well worth the money!

Delicious food for the whole family. My daughter loved her classic grilled cheese sandwich while my husband enjoyed the house salad & soup. I had the Black Friday panini and that was also delicious! Friendly service. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!

The Local Press is an AWESOME place to eat and enjoy good company. My boyfriend and I were new to the neighborhood and a friend suggested this sandwich shop to us. We went in not knowing what to expect, and almost instantly, we fell in love. The food is incredible, and the staff is awesome. One of the bartenders, Dean, gave us excellent service, was extremely attentive to our needs and kept us wanting more (Local Press). My boyfriend and I frequent this establishment because of its close proximity to our apartment as well as the friendly and inviting faces we walk into each time. We were also introduced to two people who make sandwiches on the take out side, I believe their names are Dan and Chris. Each of them was very outgoing, respectful, and eager to serve us as well as chat with us while we dined at the take out section of the Local Press. If I were able to give a 20/20 I would do that instead. Cannot wait for my next sandwich!

Absolutely the best sandwich I have had in years! We found this place through a Google search, read the reviews and headed over. Boy were we glad we did. The 3 gentlemen working were fantastic. Smiling, friendly and very accommodating. The ciabatta bread was the best I'd ever had. It was so soft and not the least bit tough. I had the Goodlife and my mother in law had the the Big O. Both were amazing. I really can't say enough about how delicious they were. My only regret? That I don't live closer!

Local Press is not a publication, but a busy local shop that prepares artisanal soups, panini (hot off the "press"), and cold cut sandwiches. We've been very pleased with various nourishing & tasty panini and cold sandwiches; Corn Chowder featured one visit, best we've ever tasted. On 1 July 2021, Dine-in not yet re-opened.

My favorite sandwich is a special called the lost tiger. The flavors are delicious and it's a combo I would never have thought to try. I haven't ordered anything I didn't like from here.

My daughter wanted a great sandwich for lunch and we found Local Press. Perfect find wonderful sandwiches and we had a hard time choosing one because they all sounded wonderful ! We can’t wait to come back and try another and another! Great chocolate milkshake and the selection of beers and wine were fantastic as well.

I was in Portland for two weeks and ended up going to the Local Press a few times because of Dan. The food was great, and he made a great suggestion to the Backshore (goat cheese instead of blue cheese). He also makes a banging cheesecake. Is also a very all around nice guy. I hope people check out this review and go check this place out!

My favorite sandwich place in Portland! I’m gluten free and they can do any sandwich on gluten free bread (it’s actually good bread, not one of those tiny ones that looks like a kids toy bread). They also have specials sometimes that they post on Instagram so they always have a cool variety of new things

Great selection of suprisingly unique hot and cold sanwiches. All of them are bomb! Owner is also a nice guys and makes your sandwich right in front of you. They also use boars head meats and cheeses. They also just opened a small tap room next door. I've yet to try it but it looks great👌

I have been a regular for a couple of years now. Casey the owner manages all day to day operations, and is very friendly, and makes killer sandwiches! Also he just opened a tap room across the hall from the sandwich shop. So not only can you enjoy the most perfect sandwich, but also a beer. Highly recommend if you're looking for handcrafted sandwiches, or soup. My favorite sandwich is 'The Dude', which is turkey, Chipotle mayo, lettuce, bacon, avocado, and cheese.

Great little neighborhood sandwich shop. Quality Boar's Head meats & other quality ingredients go into fantastic hot & cold sandwiches & paninis. Mostly a take out joint (they only have a couple small standing tables for dining in). Nice folks & great service!

While we were on a vacation to Maine, our transportation to the airbnb fell through. The Local Press gave us private seating, delicious food, and amazing milkshakes while we waited for our ride. We felt taken care of, and incredibly thankful for the kindness. It was a sweet first impression of Portland. The Local Press is a must stop when visiting.

Love it! Beacon Street panini is my favorite. ..but also love many of the other choices too! Super fresh food, friendly owner and staff. You can't go wrong here! Only drawback is sometimes hard to find a table. Intimate, casual space.

Stellar sandwich shop in Portland. They use quality ingredients and have a wide variety of 'wiches to satisfy everyone. The grilled paninis are the highlight, offering a crunch and cheesy melt that is delightful. Even more spectacular than the food is the customer service: the owner Chad is often behind the making sandwiches and he is the friendliest shop owner I've met: always smiling and ready to chat. They have recently expanded to have more space for dining in, which is a welcome addition as the shop proper is quite cozy. Only trouble with the shop is the very limited parking available; best to plan on a little walk to get here if you're driving.

This is the penultimate sandwich shop. With a limited-yet-diverse menu, those looking to procure a great lunch will find that this place meets your needs. The owner and staff are friendly, the food is made quickly and with care, and the price isn't bad. Only downside is the parking, which is only on the street.

The food was spectacular, there what is a slight problem with one of the orders but we didn’t bother going back or asking or doing anything about it. It was just an omission of an item on a sandwich. By the time you’re home you don’t want to go back for anything. It was still delicious. And we will go back again!

just had my boss grab me a sandwich for lunch, it was turkey alvacado and mayo etc.....point being it was amazing! Just a slight bit of heat from the mayo, the creaminess of the avacado the crisp crunch of the pressed bread. This sandwich is on my list from now on!

Not really sure what took me so long to hit up The Local Press over in the Woodford’s Corner hood, but sure am glad I finally did! Almost ordered “one of everything”. In addition to their delicious panini options, grab some Maine made soda, baked goods, pickles, and definitely don’t miss the Maine Maple chips made just up the road in Freeport by Vintage Maine Kitchen!
