Reviews of Oda House
overall it’s pretty good. It’s my first trying Georgian restaurant. The waiter recommended us the soup dumplings, cheese bread, a appetizer like salad(??) and the kebab.
Everything is a bit too salty🫠 unfortunately. I like the cheese bread the best, and the kebab is great too. The small salad ball things are quite interesting. The skin of the dumplings was thick and the fillings are too salty.
Fantastic restaurant, with great food! We tried two varieties of dumplings, and two varieties of the cheese bread. The cheese bread with the egg was a particular favorite. The kebabs were delicious, and the cakes were great. It was our first time trying Georgian cuisine and we loved it.
We made a reservation for 4 on a Sunday for lunch and there was plenty of seating. So the winning dish had to be the Adjaruli (bread with rich cheese baked inside and a poached egg). The outer dough is buttery and soft to be used to dip into the cheese! We also ordered the Khinkali (beef and pork dumplings) which was just okay and personally felt the skin is too thick to enjoy. I suggest to skip the Phkhali Trio (3 dips of eggplant, spinach & leek with ground walnuts, fresh herbs & Georgian spices - it doesn't come with bread!). Their bread that came with the Oda House Eggs and their side order of bread was delicious. The house eggs had a smokey taste from the smoked pork belly and reminded me of a quiche. I would not recommend the Mushroom & potatoes, which was extremely oily. The wait staff was not very helpful or friendly; in fact he told us that next time we should not order the Mushroom & potatoes since it is not considered traditional Georgian food, we asked to remove it but he said he already put in the order...
I would come back to try the other dishes but was a little underwhelmed since I heard good things about this place.
Delicious food, great service. It was great to try different cuisine, we came here twice over the weekend. The lunch was great, fresh food and amazing wine. The next evening came for their dessert, which was yummy and surprisingly light. Thank you!
Absolutely mind blowing. Some of the best food I've had in my entire life.
Service was top notch, every single item was above expectations. Eveything came out on time, and very hot.
Our waiter prepared our cheese dish for us and talked us though any questions we had on the menu.
Bottles of wine were very affordable, and even though they were out of our requested item, they made recommendations on a substitution and lowered the price for us.
My family has been coming here for quite some time now and always raved about it. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. Meats were fresh and seasoned well. We ordered the khinkali (lamb dumplings), penovani (like a Georgian calzone), the chicken and pork kabobs and the napoleon for dessert. The service was a bit slow seeing as we sat outside, but they were transparent about the tip being included.
Came here for the cheeseboat of course and left even more impressed that I expected. Everything we had was a winner on the menu, from the dumplings to the various breads to the lamb stews.
Given the type of food, you need to come here with a party of four or more to really enjoy everything across the menu. They have so many different varieties of breads and homemade cheeses - I definitely will be coming back here.
A unique dinner in a unique setting sets this place apart from anything else you’ll find in Manhattan.
To give this five stars is an understatement. The staff were incredibly helpful and the food was absolutely fantastic. We ordered dumplings, cheese pie, and lamb skewers and they filled us up after a long day of flying. Was cozy and a vibe that could be casual or for a special occasion. I could’ve stayed all night.
The khinkali was delicious; loved that everything is home made. Had the khachapuri and it was great. Also ordered the Orange cake. I couldn’t taste the orange but my SO could. SO got the chocolate mousse and it had a fantastic flavor, it also had cognac; and it was too rich for my tastes. This place activated my SOs DNA so we will be sure to come here again.
The ambience of the place was also great and it was very pretty.
Highly recommended. A cozy gem with good service in the UES. I'll need to go back to properly explore the menu! The pork/beef dumplings are beautifully made and juicy, and the homemade cheese bread is so fresh and unique -- honestly, the cheese bread section on the menu alone is impressive, I wanted to try everything. I love how the menu is authentic, and the wines (Georgian only of course). Make a reservation and enjoy!
Dumplings were good, cheese bread was great. Servers were nice, kitchen messed up an order but made up for it. Would go again for cheese bread.
I was very happy with my visit! Take note Vegetarians, Vegans, Gluten Free and Keto folks, this is a hidden gem. Pleasant staff and very cute spot. 13 years on the UES!
Been here twice now. Such delicious food!! And great selection of Georgian wines too. Definitely a hidden gem of Upper East Side!
First time trying Georgian cuisine. The Adjaruli Kachapuri was gooey and decadent! The chicken soup was hearty and flavorful! The khinkali with mushroom was so special! Cannot wait to return and explore more of this hidden gem of a cuisine
I had high hopes for this restaurant and picked it over a few other places. The drinks were great. The service was good. But food was just ok. My friend had chicken mtsvadi and Georgian salad. The chicken was ok. I wanted to order khinkali but they didn't have any. So I ordered Georgian salad with walnuts (it was really good) and small adjaruli. Adjaruli was ok. The space is nice, but small.
It might be the best-kept secret in the world that Georgian kitchen covers it all. I am not sure where to start... My Italian and Turkish heritage is making this very difficult and conflicted, but the wine was simply heavenly. The food was an amazing mixture of Middle Eastern and European food that I can not describe the taste. It felt like Georgia took the best elements of every country and combined them in perfection. So tasty, genuine, authentic and healthy! Amazing for meat lovers and for vegans as well! So many different and unforgettable type of food and flavors..
Apart from the food, the atmosphere and the service were so excellent, clean and sincere. Excellent both for families, friends and for a romantic dinner. Many restaurants use the power of PR, Advertising, and Marketing in New York, and very selective and few that leaves you a strong mark. I am just dreaming of going back again and again! It is a rare jam that I want people to know, but I am afraid it will become too popular and will be difficult to book or loose its genuine soul. Until then, it will become my dream place to go back again and again.
Great Georgian restaurant. We ordered Matsoni qotanshi (yogurt soup), chicken liver pie, chicken wrap, imeruli, and lamb lula kebab. All delicious. For dessert we had Blomanje with a pot of black tea. Also very good. We'll certainly be back. My only negative comment is that the outdoor chairs are a bit uncomfortable.
Staff was very friendly and happy to accommodate. Khachapuri and Qvevri wines were great. The Georgian lemonade is really unique don't miss out on trying tarkhun.
The food was great I really enjoyed it. It was a little bit hard to get the water filled and it might be said that Georgian good night be on the saltier side so the water was more important than usual for me. I asked for some additional m sparkling water and they brought a bottle that was appropriate for the theme of the restaurant but it had more salt in it than the ocean. Perhaps a cultural barrier but I would recommend warning someone about the salt water if they didn't ask for it specifically.
The food here is incredible!
It’s comfort food that will make you feel full, satisfied and sleepy after you’re done. Their cheeses are tasty and quite rich in flavor. We ordered Soko Ketsze (mushroom in cheese), Adjaruli (Cheese in a bread boat- a must-have!) and Mtsvadi (Shish kebab- pictured).
Service is quick, food is sublime and the vibe is cozy. This is a great spot for romantic dinners and family get-togethers. Will definitely return!
Excellent traditional Georgian restaurant. Food and service are good. Very satisfied with the visit.
Authentic Georgian cuisine indeed. I stopped by to try Adjaruli. Very rich and it definitely will make you full for a day. Nice outdoor seating but definitely pricey for a lunch special !
Went here while waiting for a family member to be done with surgery a quick walk away. Cozy, quiet place with kind staff and delicious food. Not sure why it was so quiet here at 5:00 but it was a perfect oasis with delicious options.
Khinkali, and khachpuri are insanely good. I tried too many dishes to count. All 10/10. Just go here. Food is simply to die for.
A great restaurant with Georgian food near me suitable for an evening meal, upon entering the restaurant the staff greet you with a smile and escort you to the table. The menu has a good selection, there's every Georgian dish to your taste.
I recommend everyone to look into this restaurant.
Cozy atmosphere with hardy dishes!
Loved the pichini! The pastry and filling was such a surprisingly delicious combo. The salmon special was pretty good too.
The serving size is fairly large, so be warned. Although, I was happy to have leftover pichini.
I truly wish there were region inspired cocktails to go with the food. We settled for soda.
Pictured below is the pichini (recommended) and the app sampler (not recommended).
Special thanks to the owner for showing us love when we went there. It was my first time and the vibe was great! Delicious food and wine from Georgia in a great location. I would definitely recommend Oda House if you want great service, food and an amazing vibe!
Food is very very very excellent, A+
You wont regret, Great Georgian Food.
Party of 10 - tried a lot of things (close to 15 different dishes), everything was really good! definitely recommend this place if you are looking for good Georgian food. Try it, you won't regret it
It's the best restaurant near me. I did not know that I would love Georgian cuisine that much. Highly recommend it if you want to try out new cuisine and enjoy delicious food...
Such delicious food! Also had great service and a cute dining area.
BEAUTIFUL, DELICIOUS RESTAURANT!!!! We had carnivores, vegan and vegetarian together for a birthday celebration. The menu met everyone's needs with delicious food. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming . My new favorite restaurant and worth coming to the UES for.
I was here last week, my lovely friend took me here to try some Georgian food for the first time.
I'm glad I went, it was such a cool experienced. Everyone who works at the restaurant are very nice, friendly, welcoming, and hospitable.
This is place has a cool vibe, the decor and ambiance is really nice.
Most importantly the food is great, everything we ate tasted good. It's fresh, flavorful and delicious. Its like eating a home cook meal prepared by your mom.
I had a great time and really enjoyed the service and the company.
I highly recommend this place. It's a must when in NY.
The food was to delicious, and flavored. The Khinkali is really great, and I love the size. It was my firts time I tried the Khachapuri Shampurze, and was really good. The best Kabab that I ate. It wasn't crowded around 4:30pm. Good environment, and good services. They have a good
Georgian wine selection. I really recommend Oda House. I want to come back again.
My wife and I visited Oda House for a late lunch. The food was, to put it plainly, outstanding. For an appetizer, we had chvishtari (a type of cornbread made with cheese), which was exceptional - particularly with the flavorful walnut sauce, which is called bazhe. My wife enjoyed the salmon and mushroom house special; I had the lamb mtsvadi (kebab) with tkemali (sour plum sauce) and mashed potatoes. Both dishes were great. As well, we found the wine of the Saperavi variety to be excellent. I would say without a doubt that we will return to explore Georgian cuisine further.
If you haven't tried Georgian food you need to try Oda. The staff is super friendly and the ambiance is great. It's between an old school house and a lounge, it's hard to describe so you should try it and see for yourself.
My first experience of Georgian food and will definitely be back! Lots of soups and bread options which are nice for winter, charming atmosphere and good staff.
What an amazing mix of flavors! Great introduction to Georgian food. The waiters were so kind and attentive. Would definitely visit again.
Perfect for a heart and body warming meal on a chilly day.
The food was good. Would order take out instead of dining in next time.
Just not very cosy. All below dishes are delicious! Classic! Must try
You know what!
This place is SOOOOO AWESOME!
So lovely beautiful place!
It’s really good to enjoy Georgian traditional foods!!!
They even have vegan options!
What a nice place haha
I’m a vegan and I really enjoyed the meals!
It locates in upper east side!
So romantic place!
If you want to enjoy Russian or Georgian traditional foods, I strongly recommend this restaurant!
Nice food! Nice people! Nice place!
Amazing Georgian food, loved everything about it. Bit crowded and bit on expensive side. Other than that i highly recommend. Adjruli and all types of Khinkhali we ate were amazing.
If you want to experience Georgian cuisine's distinct character and enjoy a delicious meal, visit this place.
100% Recommended!
I love the taste of the food, I felt it was perfect and it was worth our money. The kids enjoyed it, too! Can't wait to try their other dishes!
We had the Lobio rachuli and the imeruli (cheese bread)! Delicious. The beans remind me of how we make them in Colombia, made in a clay pot, well-seasoned, slightly salty, they come with a yummy corn bread and salad. Portions are very abundant, we shared both between 2. The dishes are well-presented. What a cozy and warm feeling!
If you're like me as of a week ago, and probably most Americans, you've never had Georgian food before. Well, if you're in Yorkville, change that at once at Oda House, which is absolutely divine. The cheese bread, the appetizers, and the mains are all unlike any genre of food I've have before, and are extremely delicious.
The pork skewers are sooo good. Also the bread bowl cheese thing is very nice. Not exactly poppin at the moment, so quiet family dinners welcome
I was thrilled when I learned Oda House opened on the UES and it did not disappoint. I lived in Georgia for a year and developed a fondness for the food. My friend and I split the eggplant quartet, Imeruli khachapuri, lamb khinkali and for dessert, we had Mariami - Oda special and black tea. The food brought back so many good memories and made new ones as well. It was all fantastic and I can't wait to go back again with more friends and family!
Very nice dishes that represent best of traditional Georgian cuisine.
We enjoyed every peace of the meal and warm friendly service.
Will be back definitely.
Their cheesy breads are delicious! A must. The dumplings are great to share as well. I had the chicken mtsvadi and it was ok. It didn’t have much flavor and the mashed potatoes were also a little bland.
I’d give them 3.5 stars, but their cheese breads are very delicious and their Georgian wine was very good! Also, service was great. So 4 stars from me!
Loved this place! The atmosphere, wine, food and service were excellent. My friends took me there for my birthday and we had such a good time.
Delicious Georgian food, great cocktails and scrumptious desserts! Highly recommend!
I really like Georgian cuisine, I tried several dishes, despite the fact that everything looked quite appetizing - it tasted differently.
Oda House is a neighborhood favorite- the food and wine are delicious, and the staff and environment are great. The cheese boats, dumplings, and eggplant quartet are phenomenal, along with the natural wines. Another bonus- my partner has Celiac, and they offer a number of dishes with a gluten-free option, including the cheese boats! And wow- we’ve never had gluten-free bread this good. All around great place!
Awesome!!!! Pickles amazing, especially garlic! Khachapuri (megruli) and shahlik (kebab/ mtsvadi) and kharcho like my mom cooking!!!!!
The cheese bread is delicious, the meat dumplings were also very good. Meat skewer is good. The beets in plum sauce were a bit raw and very hard. The wine options could be better
lets start w positives: great food though salmon was not the freshest. appetizers and hachapuri are delish , shashlik is hard. negatives: poor unfriendly service, our waitress had more questions to us rather than answers. to order food it was like going through dark forest. Bar drinks are the best!
Excellent Georgian food!! Literally exactly like some of the best food I had on my trip there. And very nice service and vibe as well
Upscale place, excellent food - I remembered my grandma's cooking :-) - order anything with eggplants you will not regret it! Very caring service.
The decor was a gorgeous mix of traditional wood paneling and modern accents, the staff were very friendly, the lighting is romantic, and the food was delicious. My favourite was the Georgian Soup Dumplings with beef.
Entered this restaurant never having had Georgian cuisine, left with my new favorite restaurant in New York. Dishes are fresh, flavorful, vegetable-forward, and focus on letting quality ingredients shine. This is the kind of place for a leisurely meal to catch up with friends and family, with friendly service that will not rush you. I recommend getting the sampler plates so you can get a taste of what is on offer, then going back again to try everything that isn’t on the sampler plates. Dessert is also out of this world, the Napoleoni was a really decadent treat.
Georgian food really should be better known in the USA, and this is an excellent restaurant to try it out at.
It was pur first time at this restaurant, the food is yummy. We had borzht, khinkali, lhahcapuri, and potatoes. Ot was very yummy. I will def come back
Great food, yummy cocktails, friendly staff! My new go-to place. PS Didn’t take any pics, was busy inhaling my food :)
Everything was delicious and prepared with a lot of care
Beautiful!!!
Neighborhood cash meets sophisticated.
Good food, great atmosphere, outstanding service.
Be adventurous! Go try Georgian food. You can only do that in NY. It's delicious (I'm latina)!
Absolutely delicious! Amazing gluten-free breads! Easy walk from the nearby hospitals!
The menu is heavy on bread and cheese- let's be real- what's not to love about that? The service was lovely, and our waitress brought over Georgian wines for us to try (very nice) and showed us how to eat the Khachapuri Adjaruli (stir the egg into the hot cheese to cook it) We had the gluten-free version and I cannot imagine the standard being any better- it was flawless. We also had the lamb kebab- well cooked, flavorful, and tender. There were so many things I'd like to try on my next visit (the soups, the chicken liver pie, the simple-yet-enticing vegetable preparations.) I'm not often in this area, but Oda House is worth a special trip.
From the moment I stepped in, I felt welcomed and love what the hostess said when I told her it was my first time at ODA HOUSE: “Be ready for a surprise!” And surprised I was! The china is homey while the food is an amazing mix of refined flavors. The food was comforting and sophisticated at the same time. The house white wine was a perfect accompaniment, especially with the cheese bread. We had a variety of memorable dishes - even the salad had a taste & texture I cannot forget! The highlight, though, was the juicy dumplings with vodka shot! Thank you to the wonderful staff for the gracious attention and recommendations. I am already eagerly planning my return!
The food was very good and I liked the unusual dishes as per its ethnicity. The prices were too high though and pretty much only Georgian wines (no full bar). The staff was a little too stiff and unanimated. The building inside was good but the covered seating out front was too good - ugly and smelly. If you do I do not recommend sitting there. Go inside and go for the food.
This place is absolutely amazing! Delicious and authentic Georgian food, made with love. Welcoming atmosphere and service, will be back here. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Thank you for your hospitality!
Pichini was absolutely delicious, big enough for a meal, so couldn't try anything else. Wine is a little expensive, but poured generously. I recommend Saperavi - one of a very few grape varieties with dark flesh.
Oda House is my favorite restaurant in New York City. They catered my wedding this past weekend and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and delicious.
Food was ok. Some came ice cold, others boiling. Service was the bare minimum, if the bare minimum was absolutely nothing. Would not come again.
Nice and cozy Georgian restaurant with a feeling that you are really having dinner in Georgia
Nice place. Dishes ranged from good to excellent.
This upper East neighboorhood is a sleeper for interesting restaurants. Here you can find Indian, Japanese, Italian Philippino, Mexican resturants and more, but only one Georgian establishment. Oda house is unto itself. The place is long and narrow heading south and ending in a lovely, enclosed garden party room.
The staff is very attentive and helpful in translating the menu for those not knowledgeable about the food of this area. They do not serve spirits, but do have some "local" wines which they will let you taste. Ask the price to avoid sticker shock later on.
The food is very well made. I suggest sharing as the portion size is significant. Try the dumplings, cheeze bread lamb stew dishes. All of these can be changed to beef and lamb combined, chicken, fish and somewith pork. Dessert should be tried ( they gave us two aditional). We had a Napoleon, mousse, and a panna cotta, plus mint tea.
All in all it is an easy way to leave town and end up in Georgia without having to travel to the south of the USA.
Excellent food - seems very authentic. Very cosy, perhaps to the point of being a bit too warm, but very nice atmosphere. Lots of dishes I’ve never tried before, all amazing. Server seemed a little formal but service was, nevertheless, impeccable. Thoroughly recommended if you want something a little out of the ordinary.
Good food .. good service .. clean .. nice environment .. worth trying & have a good time very accommodating and welcoming I had some kind a mchadi with cheese in it & ( never had before )with walnut souce it was delicious & acharuli my favorite .. wine my guests loved it & khinkali with veggies was very good .. it is good quality .. place!!! my husband at any time we are in NY is Always looking forward to go to Oda house .. to discover new taste of Georgian cuisine ! .. 👌😊
Top of the top place for Georgian cuisine! We had dinner there twice and definitely will come again. Outstanding tasty food and great choice of Georgian wine including authentic amber wine.
Delicious Georgian food.
Everything was delicious but especially the cheese bread was amazing!!
Great authentic food and professional but yet warm and friendly service. Highly recommend
Delicious! First time at this location. Food was great, lots of outdoor seating. Can't wait to come back!
This is my second time coming to this wonderful place. Walking in it feels warm and welcoming, the music is relaxing and appropriate, the place is spotless clean and has hand sanitizers near the neatly organized and candle lit tables. The food and wine are delicious, I love everything I’ve tried! The waiters are pleasant and willing to explain and recommend dishes according to your taste and interests. Definitely a place I want to continue to visit.
We are so lucky that we walked by Oda House. We didn't know what to expect from Georgian food, but we couldn't have been more impressed. The food was fantastic and we really enjoyed the opportunity to try Georgian wines and Chacha. They had plenty of outdoor seating which made us feel safe during the pandemic. The service was great and they took the time to explain what we ordered. You can tell this is a restaurant that takes pride in their food and culture.
Wow, what a gem! The natural wine list is astonishing. Perfect place for Saturday evening.!!
Lovely service. Dog friendly. Good food. Vegetarian options available. No paper menus available
One of the few Georgian places in the city. Very good and feels pretty authentic. Decent sized portions and staff is friendly. I wish there was a wider beverage selection vs just wines though. Their dumplings and katchapuri are must gets
Excellent food. I’ve yet to have anything I didn’t like. Everything tastes home-cooked and price-wise it’s very reasonable. Service could be a bit more prompt but I certainly don’t regret eating here.
Delicious! The frozen dumplings are delicious at home (giant though so it takes around 45 minutes for them to cook). Unique flavors, feels like I took a day trip to Georgia!
Authentic georgian food - true taste of Khinkali and Atcharuli khachapuri.
Recommended
Food and service was excellent. Just the kind of comfort food we needed after a flight.
Authentic, tasty, full of flavor and a bit pricey. I highly recommend the 4 piece eggplant dish with different stuffings as appetizers and the lamb stew in the clay pot. Both were prepared very well and satisfying. The meat was grill fired before being add to the stew sauce. The chicken shish kebab was ok and had a rubbery texture, not recommend. I would try the lamb shish next time. Service was good though there was one server handling about 10 outdoor tables. They can use more servers on nights they expect a crowd but overall he and the runner were able to handle everything, we arrived there at 720pm. We didn't have room for dessert but will come back again.
Environment is very nice. The food is very authentic, wholesome, and flavorful. Ambiance was very pleasant. If you’re looking for great Georgian food in a nice environment, then this is the place for you. The dumplings were very juicy and the cheese bread was amazing. Also, the chicken dish was seasoned wonderfully.
Delicious! loved khinkali and all of the cheese pies. Napoleon is great. Very happy we have this place on the UES 😀 …
favorite georgian restaurant in NYC! Beautiful, quaint and feels the most like being in Georgia. Maia is a genius!
Delicious food! Great hospitality, warm atmosphere! Maya, the owner, was very gracious and generous! Recommend this place to anyone. I was born in Georgia and the food OdaHouse offers is authentic and so so so delicious!
Food is good, not great. Dumplings very doughy, hardly any filling. Bread excellent and nice size glass of wine.
Interesting place with cool atmosphere. The food was good, the cheesy bread was exceptional. If you order wine talk to your server and explain what you like. The varietals seem similar but the flavor profiles vary. Servers are attentive and nice so as long as you talk to them you'll be fine.
One of my favorite spots in the city! Service + food always on point
Excellent service, great food. It was a perfect place to introduce my fried to Georgian food! Definitely combing back next time I’m in New York!
Ate outside here today with a friend for lunch. I had been avoiding eating out during the pandemic because most restaurants on the UES have tables way too close together, and people walking by on the sidewalks right against the tables - Oda was totally social distanced in both capacities and we felt 100% comfortable eating there. The outdoor tables were also very clean.
The waiter was SO friendly and helpful - great service! And the food was delicious. I love Georgian food, and this did not disappoint. Try the walnut dips platter appetizer, and one of the varieties of cheese khachupuri! The traditional Georgian wine was also very good. Will definitely go back :)
Amazing place with amazing staff and relaxed atmosphere, not to mention the food 🙌🏻✌🏻- …
A friend invited us to try Georgian food, and i have to say, it has become one of my favorite places in NYC to go to eat!
The bread is amazing
Adjaruli: in love with this! The flavor from the cheese its totally different from all the cheese i have tried.
Tolma: incredible! The lamb was just perfect.
The Khinkali: its a dumpling filled with lamb meet, I believe you can cholse your meet, they also have vegan options!
Whats amazing about this place its their wine, they make their own wine in house and the flavor its so different from typical wines. Very fruity and not dried at all. 👌🏻
First time had a pleasure to try Georgian food. It was beyond my expectations. Really good. Liked the interior of the house as well. First time tried kvevry wine ( might spell wrong) Loved it!
Very yum - recommend the (sorry I don’t remember the original name)
- Chicken soup
- Lamb stew
- Bread with cheese in the middle
The soup dumpling is a bit meh
Loved the place. I'm not very georgian food savvy, but the experience was pleasantly tasty, friendly and great. Arrived late (around 9:39 pm) with 2 friends one with a toddler and they did not make fuss about it as many other places often do. Vegetarian choices available. Place is small but NOT noisy. Anyway... Historically the space used to be for years empty or some sketchy bodega in the past. I'm very happy what it has become now. Prices are moderate also. Overall very good experience. Go!
The food here was so good! Randomly went here with 6 people without a reservation and they did their best to accommodate us. Interesting variety of Georgian wine and authentic food. We ordered a lot of different things and shared and everything was fantastic. Highly recommend.
One of the very best meals I've had in a long time! Everything was absolutely delicious, and the wine was superb! Can't wait to return!
Oda House is amazing! If you haven’t tried Georgian food before, you should absolutely go. Georgian food is unique, really one of the most delicious in the world, and Oda House do an amazing job bringing Georgian tradition into NYC. I’ve been a regular at their East Village location and super excited they’re just a couple of blocks away from me now!! Try their cheese boat, dumplings and Oda Suluguni cheese as an intro - delicious. Or the Georgian salad with walnut dressing for a healthier option ;)
The Georgian food was outstanding! Loved their bread and staff was nice. This is what I ordered: It was a cilantro with garlic lamb stew and I ordered dumplings as an appetizer. Oda House also has Turkish coffee which I did not try but my friends did. They said it was the strongest but delicious coffee they've ever had.
First time eating Georgian food. I was expecting the restaurant to dark and over decorated but it was the opposite so light, open and airy. The Khachapuri bread was delicious as were the dumplings. We ordered both the vegetarian and the pork and beef. The staff were very friendly and showed us how to eat the dumplings (with our hands, pinching the ends!!!). We totally overordered and couldn’t finish,l the other dishes we ordered (a beet salad, a Georgian salad and chicken liver). Nevertheless we did order a Napoleon for dessert. It was gigantic and so delicious!!!
The food is quite good, though not a value compared to more chic Georgian options.
What was most striking was how both the server/ manager and the runner were engrossed in their phones throughout the evening.
We had to repeatedly leave our tables and walk over to them in order to get their attention to make our order, ask for our bill, etc.
absolutely incredible food and great wine selection. excited to go again
Omg, food was amazing! Inga our server was fantastic!
After eating here I fully believe that Georgian cuisine is hidden gem yet to be discovered by the American food world. If I were to describe based on the very minimal exposure of my one meal here, it’s a hybrid between Russian and Turkish food. Which makes sense geographically. Everything we had was delicious. The walnut salad and the cheese filled bread with an egg cracked into it piping hot were my personal favourites from what we tried. Definitely a spot worth checking out and a cuisine worth exploring.
Very good Georgian food. The various cheese bread are not like anything you have eaten before unless you have been to Georgia. I love the lamb dishes served in pottery. The desserts are also excellent. Do not forget to try heterosexual wines whole there, they are excellent.
Great Georgian food! I had a wonderful meal here from start to finish. You don't have to be an adventurous foodie to enjoy Georgian food, and they offer a great variety of dishes, ranging from hearty cheese breads to lighter soups . The dumpling were tasty (although just a little bit of the chewy side). I had the lobio (a classic bean dish) as an entree and it was really tasty. They have a wide variety of delicious desserts as well. Definitely recommend giving it a try.
Stumbled on this place after checking out a new bar and WOW, the food is so excellent! I am not an aficionado of Georgian food, but this place makes me want to have this cuisine all the time forever.
The prices are a little high, making it a sometimes place and not an every weekend place. That's fine since I'm always willing to pay for excellent food and good service. My friends and I shared a bunch of appetizers and an entree and every single thing we had was good.
Not much else to say other than this is going on my list of favorite restaurants.
Great place! Very tasty Georgian food
Amazing food and desserts. Everything we ordered was scrumptious.
I love to show this place to my Russian friends when they are craving for Georgian homemade food and we never been disappointed. Especially come here for wines, Georgian wine is something different from others yet soft and tasteful.
I recommended, recommend and will be recommending this place to anybody who can digest so many carbs at one sitting :)
The apps were good, wine was too. The khinkali, which was the main reason we went there, were a big disappointment. Tasted like they were frozen and then overcooked. There was no savory juice inside, as it all seemed to have been absorbed by the overly thick and chewy dough. Definitely not like the delicious khinkali I've made or eaten in Georgia. Wanted to introduce some friends to Georgian cuisine but will definitely not be coming back to this place.
Very nice stuff, wonderful Georgian food and very friendly owner! I’m fully recommend this restaurant !
Amazing Georgian cuisine. We had the cheese bread and dumplings for appys and they were great! The entrees we tried were the two lamb dishes, Cornish hen and the house special. All came out really tasty and well spiced. The lamb were our favourites. To top it off, Oda has great service as well.
This is a really tasty spot to visit for dinner. When I was here there was a gigantic family event (I think they were Georgian) so it got really loud and it was hard to talk to other people in my party.
As for the food the bread dishes were fantastic. I recommend just getting lots of those and maybe splitting an entrée a few different ways. I thought the lamb stew was particularly good.
While I am no wine expert I thought the Georgian wines were interesting and they had a strong taste that I wasn't expecting.
Overall, the experience was what I thought a neighborhood restaurant might be like in Georgia (the country). Really glad I went here on a recommendation from a friend.
Wow - spectacular. Will absolutely be returning in fact, we already made reservations for our next visit! Definitely get the traditional cheese bread - instantly became my favorite dish ever. I had the Cornish hen in a blueberry sauce that was just 🤩, my husband had a lamb stew that tasted like grandma made it, and then the dessert of the cake with Turkish coffee rounded out an amazing dinner experience. It's the cutest of restaurants, cozy but stayed packed the whole night! I see why now!
Try something new while still familiar. The cheese bread is fantastic, potato and mushroom really tasty, and the DESSERTS... Save room. Start with chacha, explore a range of unfiltered and natural wine. I'll be going back.
I never had Georgian food before. The waitress pointed us in the right direction on what to order. The food was excellent, and the place was lovely.
Excellent overall experience. The set up and environment of the restaurant is very cozy. As someone who has lived in Georgia for several years, I thought that the food tasted truly authentic.
Food: 9/10, the khinkali was perfect, the lamb tarragon stew was also delicious. I would give them 10/10 stars but I felt like some of the food was a little too salty.
Service: 5/10, the waiter was impatient and a bit awkward which was strange since the restaurant wasn't too busy that night. He was also a little snarky when my friend mentioned that she had a significant nut allergy. This being said, the women I talked to on the phone to make the reservation was delightful, so I’m sure the service is very waiter dependent.
Everything was fantastic. Great wine selection, so many food options, and the waiters/waitresses were super helpful. Would definitely return!
Really interesting food... and the service is unparalleled
Food was good. Service was ok, but seemed a tad grumpy.
Loved having dinner here! The food was delicious - especially the cheese bread (we tried the traditional one with an egg and the one with cheese and yogurt). We also liked the lamb special, the beef and pork dumplings and the napoleoni cake. The red wine was amazing too!
I'd never had Georgian food before & was really forward to it after I saw the menu. Wow. Just wow. Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing delicious food & the wine was incredible. Highly recommended I will definitely return. Go try it out!
I enjoyed this spot, The food is very authentic, fairly rich. It’s a little expensive (16$ for a salad, 27$ for a fairly small lamb dish) but the flavors are unique and the food was enjoyable.
Will def visit again.
Edit : went again, had the garlic Cornish hen, amazing, worth every cent.
I'd never had Georgian food before and ordered the wrong thing (tip: get the khachapuri, not an entree). Having said that, the flavors were still very interesting and the service was good. Wine was good too. A little expensive and a little crowded, but I think that's somewhat to be expected.
Georgian food is something that warms my heart. All the good things, very authentic. It is so far away from Georgia, but it feels very close. I have no idea how they get the cheese to khachapuri, but it tastes just like it should: perfect balance of sweet and salty, moist and creamy, very tender, melting in mouth. Absolutely love it ❤️
Georgian cousin is slowly but inevitably gaining its well deserved fame in USA. Until few years back it remained a hidden jewel for an American in search of memorable eating- out experience, or in a metaphoric expression- akin terra incognita worthy of discovery and long bountiful exploration.
Oda House is one of the few Georgian restarants in New York offering unforgetable jorney into exquisite tastes of food and wines of one of the most ancient and mysterious cultures of Caucasus.
I used to bring my American friends and colleagues to the Oda House at the old location. All kept coming back and literally got almost truly addicted to every course from wine to desserts.
Dear Oda House, please make sure to play a special music to enhance the experience of your guests, for instance thise magestic voices of Georgian choral.
Perfect cozy dinner spot. Been to many Georgian restaurants, but this is by far our favorite. Musy try Phkhali Trio (veggie patè), Beef and Pork Khinkali (jumbo dumplings) and Adjaruli Khachapuri (pizza-like dish). Dishes best ordered as share plates. Staff is amazing, location is great, food cant be beat.
Highly recommend checking this place out. Can’t attest to if it’s true best Georgian food. But can easily tell you it’s tasty. You’ll have some yummy wines you’re unlikely to try elsewhere. Just make sure you get the cheesy bread.
After a trip to Russia, my partner and I fell in love with Georgian food. Hard to find in the US, but when we noticed this place, we put it on our list to try.
The staff was extremely accommodating, despite it being a busy Friday night. The food was delicious and seemed to hit the same notes as the restos in Moscow.
We’ll definitely be going back.
Large portions of good traditional foods, friendly staff, happy vibe, nice bar. We were six in a large booth and we ordered a large assortment of appetizers and main dishes. We left stuffed, happy and with bags of leftovers. Worth trying.
Wow! Cheesebread - better than pizza! Dumplings - better than most others! Glad I noticed this new restaurant on my way home and was curious enough to inquire. The wait staff suggested these popular dishes and I was blown away. We need more of these on the Upper East Side (and fewer pizza places)!
A real gem. Loved the khachpuli, the dumplings and the honey walnut cake. Super friendly wait staff. Food came out lightning fast, hot, and delicious. Will definitely return...after I burn off the calories from the first visit!
If Georgia is on your list of countries to visit, then you should definitely visit this restaurant. Everything is authentic there: delicious food, wine, music, and even pieces of art on walls and of course there are always native Georgian around. The only thing is missing is the view of beautiful mountains in the window.
So glad to have a Georgian restaurant in the neighborhood. The khachapuri selection alone (so many choices!) is worth a visit, but there's so much else to enjoy. Our house standard, the adjaruli, was delivered and the cheese and egg mixed together tableside for us to devour with the delicious bread. I'd skip the pkhali trio next time -- the eggplant was wonderful, but the leeks and spinach didn't do much for us -- but the chakapuli (lamb, mint, tarragon, etc) was seasoned beautifully and devoured quickly. Other lamb dishes, and kebabs, are waiting for my next visit, along with running through the different khachapuris!
The restaurant very kindly accommodated 14 of us! We ordered so much food it was all very yummy! The highlight was definitely the katchapuri varieties. The bests were the cheese stuffed bread as well as the traditional boat shaped one with egg. I would definitely come back for more!
I have a friend from Georgia who took us here & I’ve been back multiple times. Often for their Chanakhi, which is amazing. One of my favorite restaurants in the UES.
The best execution of Georgian cuisine this side of the black sea! The menu feels ample without being extensive and every single dish, from the appetizers to the main courses stays true to Georgian tradition, maintaining a balance between pleasing the diaspora and enticing newcomers.
The wine menu is accessible and features a wide selection of the best organic wines from the cradle of world wine making. Finally, after meeting the cook I can certainly say that Georgian culture as a whole is about to explode in Americans' consciousness.
I had an opportunity to meet Gigi, the cook manning the kitchen the night I was there, and his passion for Georgian cuisine and techniques makes this restaurant a hidden gem of culinary exploration in this vast city.
SO GOOD. I’ve never had Georgian food before and this was incredible. Don’t miss the cornbread with cheese and the eggplant appetizer. But everything we had was delicious.
This was my first time experiencing Georgian food and it was very good. We had Imeruli Khachapuri which is a lightly salted cheese inside a soft chewy circular bread, like a mix between a pizza and a quesadilla. Then we had Beef Khinkali, a dumpling with juices from the meat inside and a little spice. They were delicious. Lastly, we had Mstvadi, nicely grilled pieces of pork and taste great. We had the whole meal with Georgian wine (don't remember the name) and tarragon flavored Georgian lemonade. Overall the food was great and the staff was friendly. They made you feel like they was welcoming you into their own home. I look forward to going again.
Oda House UES is like being at your grandmom's house and enjoying her delicious home cooked meal. This place is simply amazing and the staff is so so nice. I went here with my meetup group on Sat night and they not only accommodated our large group but also gave us separate checks. The menu has vegan and GF dishes so everyone can eat here. Sophie our host and every single server was amazing and kind. We will absolutely come back here again and again! I'm so happy they opened an UES location! P.S. ORDER THE DUMPLINGS!
It’s my first ever review and I can’t be happier it’s about Oda House on upper east side. It’s a wonderful restaurant where you are greeted with smiles and impeccable service. Food deserves a separate post as it’s absolutely amazing -everything from traditional Georgian cheese bread khachapuri to freshest meat and fish kebobs ( mtsvadi) and hinkali to vegetable dishes and deserts. My guests and I left happy and full. Thank you to Maya (the owner) and her wonderful team for making my family’s day special. We felt at home and will be back for sure!!
Incredible food! The cornish hen with blackberry sauce was amazing, one of the best dishes I've maybe ever had. However, we had a reservation and felt rushed the entire time. They took one of our dishes away without asking and it still had food on it. They asked us if we were ready to order two minutes after we sat down. Slow your roll, Oda House. Let us enjoy this delicious meal.
Everything we had here was amazing. Soup was amazing, bread was amazing, meatballs. Really great experience and super friendly staff as well. Definitely will be back!
Everything we had was incredibly delicious. We had the Pkhali trio, the Georgian salad, the adjaruli khachapuri and a lamb dish whose name I can’t recall but it was cut in pieces and had loads of greens as a sauce. We had the honey and walnut cake as desert. I’m still salivating at that meal. Casual setting with sublime food.
Absolutely the best Georgian restaurant in NYC. In fact, our favorite restaurant in this city, period. Every dish we have tried is unique and exquisite. All sauces are fantastic. Wines are excellent as well.
We had a sumptuous dinner at Oda House Restaurant while on our Labor Day weekend trip to NYC. We are very familiar with real Georgian food, and let me tell you, this was a great experience and the food was absolutely fantastic. We ordered two types of khachapuri, chanakhi, satsivi and chicken shashlyk, plus appetizers. Everything was flavorful, excellent quality, just the right quantity and beautiful presentation. The owner of the restaurant, Miss Maia, makes sure patrons get authentic Georgian dishes that you would get if you travel to the Republic of Georgia. Her crew does a great job and you won't be disappointed. On the contrary, you will get hooked on this great food and keep coming back for more.
Just absolutely fantastic. Tried most things on the menu over time and all were worth getting at least once. Service is authentic and worth a revisit. 4 seating areas: outside (heated), front of house, back of house and what seems to be a garden area in the back (never been).
The best Georgian food you can ask for. Ahzfuri, simply pleasure that can not be described in words. Which is filled with cheese, gives a sense of legend from a distant place. The Georgian salad is fresh and accompanied with nuts. Just a meal of kings, let's hurry before something else will drive you
We love Georgian cuisine and decided to went there for a dinner on Tuesday, place wasn't packed (probably because it was Halloween evening). The food was outstanding! I have never eaten better khachapuri than in this place. Khinkali and Chakapuli were good as well. Bread was fresh homemade and we even asked for some extra. All these dishes tasted even better with a bottle of traditional Geargian Saperavi wine. We for sure will be back.
khachapuri was delicious but phikali trio was unfortunately not good.khinhali was ok mtsva was so dry there was no juice.I wouldn’t recommend it
Pretty good environment but the food does not taste as good as it looks. The famous adjaruli khachapuri is just a nice pizza with egg cheese and butter. Nothing super tasty. The soup dumplings are supposed to be thin and soupy but are actually incredibly think, doughy, and thus tasteless. If you really want soup dumplings perhaps the Chinese restaurants are better choices.
Authentic Georgian just like in Georgia. The chef is very detail oriented and seems to use the best ingredients. The wine selection alone is worth coming for. The ambiance and the service are not the best.
Unique food. Delicious and so much variety!!!
Great service and even better food!! Loved the khinkali (just wish an order came with more than 3), and the pichini. Dessert was amazing too! Can’t wait to go back again
We were looking for a new Georgian ethnic food experience during our visit to New York. We found this on Google and Yelp, so we gave it a try. We were happy that we did. Loved the amber wine and the dumplings were excellent!
Simply fantastic flavors and menu options. The food feels familiar and different at the same time. Our server was very instructive and attentive. My only complaint was that as the night wore on he became more difficult to locate. We eventually had to search for him to obtain the bill. Not a big deal but something to consider.
Great Russian/Georgian food!
Delicious food in a nice setting with an elegant but cozy vibe. My Georgian friend said the food was quite authentic. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants.
Amazing food. Never had Georgian food before and I am convinced everything on the menu is out of this world. Had the Penovani Khachapuri because I love cheeze. Lol
fresh ingredients, good and authentic food, decent price.
Interesting choice in the neighborhood - stands out as something different - compare to typical Italian, or American, or French, or Asian Fusion.
Fantastic Georgian food! The dumplings(forget the actual name) are FANTASTIC and the bread is absolutely delicious - it has a stick of melted butter in the middle so maybe not the healthiest of options but it tastes amazing!
Best Georgian food in the city. Khachapuri - Georgiy pizza, khinkali- dumplings, chakapuli - lamb with tarragon and plum, kebab, liver. Wines are most famous saperavi, speciality “living” wines from kvevri (natural process of winery, when the wine vessel stays for a while under the ground). Highly recommend
Best Georgian food I've ever had. Full disclosure: only Georgian food I've ever had. Still really good food by food standards. The Kachapuri is a must. I only order other dishes because I feel guilty having cheese bread for dinner.
Authentic Georgian cuisine. Visited Tbilisi multiple times and this is as close you can get outside of Georgia. Service is great, staff are delightful, and the food is amazing. Make a reservation on weekend nights.
Fantastic experience. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Being our first time having Georgian fare we sought recommendations and they were spot on. Definitely make a reservation
Amazing food. We had the Khinkali (dumplings), Oda House special baked salmon, adjaruli, lobiani lorit, and Fresh tomato salad with green ajika.
The Khinkali had 3 dumplings with one filled with potato and dill, and one with mushroom. The mushroom dumpling was nicely seasoned.
The Oda House Special baked salmon was crispy with cheese and mushroom on top and was still a bit moist in the middle. It came with grilled tomatoes and mashed potatoes on the side. The tomatoes were grilled where it was solid but retained some of the juices in the center.
The Adjaruli was interesting with its cheese and egg center that is mixed on the spot, serving as a great dip for the bread that holds it.
The Lobiani Lorit is cut into slices resembling a personal sized pizza and is very filling due to the pinto beans that are in it. When eating it, you can taste the smoked pork belly throughout the whole slice.
As a person who is not a fan of salads, the fresh tomato salad was surprisingly tasty as its dressing and the onions really made it tasty. I don't think it was a oil based dressing.
Our waiter was very helpful with our order and preparing the cheese and egg mix for the Adjaruli. Another wait staff member made sure our cups of water was always full. Bathroom was clean and it was not too crowded when we went there.
Georgian Bread House!
Never heard of it or knew what it, was but it is amazing! The bread is absolutely buttery goodness that after each bite, you may naturally just hum from delight! We had no idea what to order and picked two at random, and honestly both were so amazing that I'm not even angry that I ended up with literally two dishes that were primarily made up of bread and cheese, hahaha. Honestly, I'm the type that is more interested in meat dishes but these were so good....not even mad.
Order the Adjaruli!!!! That is the iconic bread that has the raw egg and butter in the center. When it comes out pipping hot, you immediately break the egg yoke and stir, stir, stir!!! The heat from the bread literally cooks the egg and melts the butter, its heaven in your mouth of buttery, rich, and cheesy goodness!!!
Other menu items are...eh? Like they are less memorable compared to this one dish. I highly recommending to just stop in, order this dish and that is it!! You won't be disappointed. My friend has tried to order other items and its not nearly as good.
Highly recommend for only the Adjaruli!!!!
Vibrant and tasty Alphabet City Georgian. A lot of flavor and a nice buzz to the place. Try the traditional cheese-filled breads. Note that they really pack a lot of tables close together in there and the noise level at dinner can be overwhelming causing everyone to yell at their tables to be heard.
Went for dinner with friends. Food was above average and interesting, but service was nowhere to be found the entire meal. I'd eat here again since the flavors on most dishes were good, but I'd try going on an off day of the week when it might be less crowded.
My friend recommended this place for lunch - what a hidden gem! We enjoyed the chicken soup, the pide (what is the Georgian word for pide?), the kebab...everything was absolutely delicious. Service is unpretentious - attentive, without being "hovering".
Will definitely return.
One of the few truly authentic Geogian cuisine restaurants in the city. Could not recommend it enough. Great staff, friendly owners and incredible food.
Truly a delicious and authentic restaurant. The food by far is unbeatable. However, it is painfully loud inside, could really benefit from some sound boards. The staff was also not the kindest as we felt very rushed and ignored at times. Still would recommend going for the food!
If you care about food, in both it's presentation and quality, then you will love Oda House. All ingredients are either organic or raw. Healthy fresh food. You will think you are at your grandmother's house. I especially loved the Khachapuri. Thank you for exposing me to real Georgian cuisine.
Oda house is one of my all time favorite places to eat in New York city. The food is authentic, delicious and unique! If you are a cheese lover then Oda House is the right place for you! They have several unique dishes and as well as having vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options. They are very allergy sensitive and are willing to accommodate any special requests. The staff is very friendly and helpful and always willing to make a suggestion in regards to ordering. I highly recommend coming here for any occasion. PS: order the pear soda it is really special!
Have not had a good Georgian meal for about 30 years. This place is small, but food and wine were delicious. I'll make a point to visit them again next time I'm in NYC.
Updated:
I was ok with slow service here because food was phenomenal. Somehow the decline of food quality and/or absence of drink put Oda on do not come back list.
Khinkali were ok. Lula kebabs, both lamb and beef/pork, were average, where one can taste only spices, not the meat. Top this with lack of service and you get disappointment.
Original Feb 2019:
Food coma guaranteed every time!
Great food, amazing wine selection. Chairs could be a tad more comfortable
Awesomeness in Georgian Bread Products (and wine!).
Georgian cuisine *should* be more widespread. I mean, it's got two things that are ridiculously awesome - fabulous bread products called Khachapuri, and stellar wines fermented in clay amphorae (qvervi).
I can't count the number of times I've been here, ordered some Khachapuri, and had a glass or two of stellar wine to go with, and been utterly, totally, happy.
The khachapuri come in a bunch-a varieties, so experimentation is warranted. From the "egg + cheese + butter" on top (you mix it yourself for maximum awesomeness), to a "not a pizza" that is stuffed with peppery mashed potatoes and cheese, oh, you'll be so happy you came here!
(Mind you, these are calorie bombs, so be warned! )
Incidentally, the staff is charming, endlessly helpful, and much fun...
When we went to Oda house for Georgian food, I was expecting fried chicken and peaches, but was surprised to get liver and cheesy flatbreads though I see where the famed southern hospitality comes in. Ok, I may be joking, but Oda house was phenomenal and a really different type of food for the area. This was my first experience with Georgian food, but I really enjoyed it, particularly the famous cheesy flatbread that was recommended on all the reviews. The restaurant is fairly small and always packed, so make a reservation if you want to get in. The staff was very friendly, I got the impression it is a family run place, and was very patient with the people at the next table who were making a big deal and complaining about the food taking too long.
I wanted to try the traditional Georgian wine that is fermented in ceramic vats or something, but they were out, so we tried the recommended red from Georgia which was delicious. It was full bodies but semi-sweet and went very well with the food. They also brought us two small doughy ball things with garlic and spinach to pair with the wine which went very well together.
We ordered the beef and pork dumplings for an appetizer as well as the Oda House Special entree and the egg and cheese flatbread. Many reviews mentioned the service being slow, and while it did take a while for menus to be brought to us, nothing else was slow from that point forward. The atmosphere was very relaxed and family friendly.
The dumplings were very good and filled with well seasoned beef and pork. The flatbread was the standout and no wonder it was the recommendation. It was obviously freshly made, hot and flaky. The cheese and egg on it was fantastic. The only way I can think of to describe it was like an incredible version of a pizza place's cheesy bread. The Oda special was some heavily seasoned beef liver with onions and pomegranate seeds. They were out of the beef liver, so we substituted chicken liver. I'm not always a fan of liver depending on how it is prepared, but this was so well seasoned and did not have the weird liver texture so I really enjoyed it. The flatbread was super filling, and we got a good portion of meat, I'm glad we didn't get two full entrees. The seeds seemed odd a first, but added a nice acid flavor to balance the liver and added some crunch to the texture. It also went very well with the wine.
The service and atmosphere added to the experience. The staff was very friendly and I really didn't feel that it was slow. I'd call it more relaxed though this was part of the atmosphere. Several tables around us had clearly been there for a while when we arrived and were still there when we left an hour and a half later. It just felt like the kind of place you go and sit for a while to enjoy the meal. That being said, it wasn't like we were sitting waiting for anything at any point.
I absolutely loved the food at Oda House and found it so unique and different to anything I'd had before. It can be intimidating to pick the right things if you aren't familiar with the cuisine, but everything was very good so I don't think you can go wrong. The waitresses are also there to offer suggestions. It is also a great place for a date or to take visitors for a truly unique meal.
My oh my! I did not except this to be as delicious as it was! Definitely blown away. The restaurant per se is nice and cozy and gives you a very homey vibe. We ordered 4 dishes: chicken khinkali, pkhali trio, imeruli and as dessert the ideali. The dumplings are delicate and the chicken spiced very well but not to much to overwhelm you. The trio is a must when here. The eggplant with walnuts is the best of the three. The imeruli is like a naan bread with loooots of delicious cheese. The cake seemed to be heavy by the description on the menu but was a pleasant surprise as it was not too sweet and the right size to share. Recommend this place blindly!!

I'm very happy we've found this place, it is a real authentic Georgian cuisine. Menu is not very large, but there is everything I like - khachapuri, lobio, khinkali. We'll definitely be back
My friend introduced me to Oda and it's the best meal and unforgettable experience. I love the intimate size, elegant décor and service. Best of all is the cheesebread. Great selection of wine.
to be hones ti have not tasted so delicious Georgian cuisine not even in Tbilisi's top restaurants. Oda's food is amazing and original. we ordered chakapuli, some other dish with veal, and acharuli khachapuri. try it and you will not regret it. I give all 5 stars which a rarely do. also, the staff was very friendly make sure you tip them well.
cheers,
Delicious mix of European and Asian influenced food but unique to Georgia . Loved the adjaruli khachapuri (hot bread topped with melted cheese, raw egg and butter) and lobio (like Mongolian momos)
The person who served us was so unfriendly.. It felt like the only thing he wants is to get rid of all the clients.
He smiled once - when we were leaving.
The food was good, but it's difficult to enjoy food in such circumstances
Very cozy Restaurant with authentic Georgian food. Very delicious and interesting to taste different kinds of food! Our waitress was extraordinarily kind. Totally recommend this restaurant!
Authentic Georgian cuisine, that is!
Dirty table cracks though, food storage for ages. If you ever curious what people had at this table before you sat there, you know where to look. What a time machine, those big tabletop cracks.
Nice place. Interesting Georgian wine selection. The food was good. The service was a little rushed, but over all, it’s a nice place.
I attended the soft opening of this wonderful establishment and was welcomed like an old friend. The food is wonderful and the staff are also. My girlfriend and I will visit them regularly since we are just around the block from them. We wish them well and encourage everyone to experience such a fine establishment.
Such delicious khachapuri! Warm, gooey, and fluffy bread. Also got the pkhali trio which was a nice sampling of spinach, leek, and eggplant dishes. I would definitely come back here.
Sveta and friends went Thursday night for dinner! Meet friends boyfriend, introduce him to the family. We need place where we can be ourselves, and of course need good food, Sveta loves to eat, and drink. Oda House North as Sveta calls it, was perfect, we are always taken care of by staff, because they know we know Maia, and they certainly take care of us, wine and vodka flows every desert the make shows up at the end! And of course we close the place! Because that is what Sveta from Moscow does! If you can get a reservation, is great place for good food and great Georgian wine, which is the best of course!! 🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪
We've never had Georgian food before, and this was a great experience! The food was great and the staff was super nice and professional.
Amazing food in a cozy setting. Good place for small or larger groups. The staff can try to rush you along a little but are they are always polite. About a 10 min walk from the subway.
I thought the service was great. The food was amazing and healthy. I highly recommend this place. The owners are present and really friendly. I am now a fan of Georgian food. :)
Great atmosphere and food. Had the typical cheese boat and it did not disappoint.
This is an authentic Georgian spot, we go whenever we’re visiting New York.
Maia has an inspirational story and is a hero back home in Tbilisi
Oda House is our favorite restaurant in New York. We live in Texas, but come to the City at least twice a year and always eat at Oda's. The food is fantastic, the setting is intimate, and the staff is superb. Can't recommend it enough!
Not everything was on the menu, but generally everything are very tasty
More of a low key ethnic restaurant rather than a place for cuisine per se. Mostly caters to the ethnic Georgian crowd. Service was a bit lackluster but the food was decent.
Appetizers were great, but the main dish came out salty and dry/overcooked. Service was mediocre at best. Not the worst place you can go to, but there are definitely better places for the price
Authentic Georgian food with a great service and atmosphere. We liked it better than at other Georgian restos in NYC. Definitely recommend!
Incredible experience, with delicious and unique food & wine, and fantastic service! Plenty of vegetarian options. The cheese bread and soup dumplings are amazing. A must try!
Authentic Georgian meals with great service.
Great food! Their Khinkali is the best. I ordered take out but loved interior so much wanted to stay. Cozy place. Should visit again
Eat Georgian food... it's spectacular. The entire menu is worth trying, but the khinkali (soup dumplings) and khachapuri (cheesy bread) are the all-stars.
Very nice place for home cooked comfort food. The people are nice and the menu is expansive! The wine is quite pricey and not very good, in my opinion.
This was my first time having Georgia food, and it was so good! You have to try the bread toasted with cheese and an egg. It’s like gooey cheesy heaven!
Good food. A bit pricey. Natural Wine is interesting. Service fair. Bread is delicious 🔥. Borsch very good. Nice ambiance. …
The Best Georgian food in the City
Holly molly, this place is delicious! We came in for dinner and ordered about several dishes, all were amazing. Adjaruli, Pichini and Lobio! Tried them all loved them all! Would defiantly recommend it.
Truly authentic Georgian food. Intimate dining room. Very helpful staff. Delicious, well prepared dishes.
We came here first time:
Cuisine-10 stars
Waitress Natalia-100 points
Atmosphere-very cozy and pleasant
One flaw-show people where are you situated, because view from outside is “invisible “🙃
Thank you!
Outstanding! Food quality, appetizers, wine selection and presentation. Highly recommend if you would like to try a modern Georgian meal.
A great first experience having Georgian food. Delicious food, and very attentive service
I loved Oda House in Alphabet City. Great to know there is one in the UES now. The food is just as great as I remembered. The UES location is much bigger and the ambiance is a little more quiet and intimate.
The food is very good, the breads are delicious and the service is very relaxed but good. They don't rush you at all. I have been twice with friends and I have really liked it!!
The most amazing food we had in Manhattan! Very nice vibe to the restaurant, lovely and friendly stuff. Will definitely come back and totally recommend it to all my friends
a destination in the Lower East side, for either dinner any night or lunch fri-sun. excellent wines, unforgettable creamy pastas, arguably the best lamb kebab.
It is a great Georgian restaurant. The food is tasty and served in generous portions. The bread was really delicious
5 stars for the best rotisserie chicken and fries like mama used to make. Came here today after much convincing from my veteran Palmyra husband. Another middle eastern joint -yawn, was my response as I envisioned yet another fat ladden pita. I reluctantly sat down and we orderd half a rotisserie chicken, fries, kibbeh, desert and tea.
My family and I have been here plenty of times. Food is ALWAYS delicious, the service is the problem.
The food was utterly amazing, and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend.
Brought back vivid memories of our time in Georgia. The karchapuri was spot on. The khinkali were yummy. The unfiltered wines scrumptious.
Awesome Awesome Food!! Service was great and the atmosphere was cool.
The place is a bit small. But the people are nice and friendly. Definitely would recommend!
We love visiting this place with friends, always pleased with the service and great food! Would have meals there more often if not such high prices
Thank you very much Oda House .
We had beautiful - peaceful relaxing Night.
Food was absolutely delicious .
Service was amazing.
Wait staff wear extremely friendly and helpful.
See you soon.
Thank you
The bread is amazing and the service is nice and informative. A new taste from the norm with flavors far away from the usual NYC pizza, brunch, sushi, Chinese spots
It was my first time trying Georgian food and definitely not the last. The meat cooked in the clay was superb!!
Modern Georgian cuisine adapted for north americans with decent price-quality ratio (for NYC). Highly recommended!
Great food. Reasonable portion sizes. Friendly staff.
Wonderful food with unique atmosphere
Great food, really good wine (if you're into sweet wines) and super friendly staff. A bit on expensive side but totally worth it
Very delicious food from the country of Georgia
Adjaruli, order it, done. We came in to NYC from CO. This place was on our must stop list thanks to "Triple D". I would eat here everyday if I lived here. 👍🏻Delicious! …
It's apparently hard to have a bad experience here. I would agree as everything was fantastic. Be careful not to order too much, however, as just one bread item is pretty substantial.
Amazing place for lovers of Georgian food! And even more great for those who are trying for the first time! Definitely coming back!
Great selection of natural wines and delicious food. The ambience is rustic and cozy with a casual family-style vibe.
Everything was delicious, especially the khachapuri. It's worth getting a bottle of the Georgian dry red wine.
Delicious cheese boat! Really friendly and great people here, definitely recommend it for a group or taking out someone special, you'll have a great time.
Fantastic food. I loved our meal. It was like pizza with eggs. Tight fit but a great restaurant

Nice outdoor dining experience and kind staff
Truly a special place. Amazing food, incredible wine list, and a very friendly knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend!
Plenty of vegetarian choices. Get a few sides to maximally sample the cuisine. Service is attentive and there is live music.
The food is amazing. Unfortunately, halfway thought our dinner, the place got crowded and we were not very gently solicited to leave!

Good Georgian restaurant, a lot of space and quiet. Food is not bad but could be even better but overall it's quite good!
The place with fantastic relaxed ambience. So rare in NYC. Food is awesome. Chachapuri is the best.
Update after a year: Chachapuri is insanely good
I’ve never had Georgian food and found this to be a very unique menu. All the food was delicious!
As a Georgian I have to say it's a true Georgian restaurant with great food. Highly recommended! Don't miss the Hachapuri.
Love the clay-pot pinto beans and pork belly. Good home-cooked Georgian comfort food.
Well worth the visit for a date or work outing. The food is excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. Be sure to try the bread (any bread!).
Very authentic Georgian food, best in NYC! The hospitality was just as great as the food!
Food was ok! Service was not bad except the male host looks very angry all the time... too loud to be able to enjoy ur dinner! Overall wasn’t that bad
Glad that Uper East Side is finally getting it’s Georgian restaurant. The food is out of this world, especially the hinkhali and khachipuri (also my recommendation is satsivi)!

I prefer the food over Red Compass, but the atmosphere and service here are worse. Still, a fairly good Georgian restaurant.

Very nice restaurant, very tasty food and good service. The wine and desserts are also delicious.
The food was very mediocre here

Khachapuri: this is the ONE thing you must order here... If you've never stirred the egg in yourself, it's totally ok to ask the waitstaff to mix it for you.
