Steak burrito was ABSOLUTE FIRE. 9.2/10 I ordered the steak burrito and added sour cream and guac. The total was only $12 after the add-ins which is awesome considering portion size and price compared to other places. Without add-ins it's only $9. You can taste all of the flavors and the ingredients taste fresh. The burrito is nice and juicy unlike a lot of places which are usually dry. I also got the green sauce to try which is sweet and has a subtle kick which is nice if you don't like spicy. Can't forget to mention this is one of the few black-owned Mexican spots and they definitely do it well. I'm always critical when I give reviews and don't give scores just to give them. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place. There is usually a line but the wait isn't too long so don't let the wait make you walk away. My only critique is that the meat was just slightly chewy, but I'm just nitpicking here. I'll definitely be back to try more.

This a a great young entrepreneur establishment. He only had a good truck and now a restaurant. The three meat burrito was shrimp, chicken and beef. The shrimp is seasoned very well. Great place and very big burrito for the price. Definitely back in Los Angeles I will come back.

Omg I had the best shrimp burrito I have ever had in my life. CAUTION:::This place can be very addicting. It’s ALWAYS GOOD!!! This is exactly what LA brings to the table culinary wise.... Taco Mell is the perfect fusion of Mexican cuisine and urban flavor bombs! Located in the soul of LA ,Leimert Park off Crenshaw and Vernon. You’ll enjoy historical scenery in the area. The surf and turf burrito as you can see is well money spent in portion. The menu has variety but not too much, which I appreciate the less overwhelming concept. There will be a line (always a great sign) but don’t worry it moves pretty quickly. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean, the food is great and the price is even better. Add Taco Mell to your list he’s become a new wave in LA, you won’t regret it.

Everyone that knows me know I love a good burrito! This place is no different. I got the 3 meat burrito! Every bite had a shrimp. The chicken and steak was seasoned well and the guca was bomb. Staff is friendly, ingredients are fresh and everyone was full and satisfied. Now it does look closed from the outside. Thats bcuz of construction just call to make sure and go support. Tip: parking is limited so have someone go with you, so you can hop out and go.

Taco Mel is the SPOT!!! Excellent Food. Not your typical authentic L.A. Mexican Food but Taco Mel has put their own authenticity and twist on Mexican food. A favorite of mine is the 3 Meat Burrito consisting of Steak, Chicken and Shrimp with rice bean and all the burrito fixins'. You can get Burritos, Tacos, Quesadillas and bowls. And yes, they have Kool-Aid on deck to wash it all down with! If you're looking for good Mexican Food in the Crenshaw area Taco Mel is the place to get your fix!

My daughter and I just finished the 3 meat combo taco plate which comes w rice and black or refried beans. Chicken: The juice that squirted out on the first bite has me salivating just thinking back on it! Steak: Agree w previous post, best steak taco I have ever had in LA and we the taco capital! First time eating whole taco w no fat on the meat. Every bite was tender no “Ten Duh” lol! Shrimp: Juicy w the right amount of seasoning keeping it’s Mexican taco vibe w hint of New Orleans! I initially saw a quesadilla style item on social media that looked really tasty from Taco Mell's. I decided to visit yesterday and the item wasn't on the menu. So, I order chicken tacos. They were uneventful. There was gristle throughout the meat. Although, the taste wasn't bad. Would I go back? Maybe one more time to see if I went on a bad day.

Man these guys are awesome! My friend had been telling me about their surf and turf burrito so I had pretty high expectations. They made my burrito exactly how I wanted it with steak and chicken and even threw in an extra sauce. Needless to say I'm not dissapointed at all. Perfectly seasoned, the meat is still juicy and the slight crisp to the burrito shell is a perfect touch. Thanks guys, ill be back!

I usually stop by this place when I’m in LA. The staff is always friendly and professional. But today I brought shrimp tacos and when I arrived home. The shell was very hard to chew. Very disappointed because I love their tacos. Maybe I just receive a bad batch or something. I would’ve gave a 5 star but because of the taco shells I have to give it a 4 star. I suggest that the owner talk to his employees and make sure they not rushing and over cooking the taco shells. Otherwise there will be a lot more people complaining.

The ingredients in the food were fresh. I had the shrimp tacos and shrimp burrito. Otherwise, there was no distinguishing taste or sauce that would make me stand in line again during COVID-19. Because I am attempting to avoid standing in lines to order food, I attempted to call the telephone number listed to place my order while I was standing there and no one picked it the phone.

I'm kinda embarrassed to say.. but I proudly come eat @Mels once a week. My kids request it if I dnt say.. "what you want from Mel's" Fri or Sat.. since we moved from Ladera to Manhattan beach it's a lil drive to do during the week & I cook. But this is the familys go to when mom ( me ) is not cooking. Sometimes my order or service be off with the turnover staff.. but supporting the community is important to me plus the food is fire. Always a treat to see Mel.. I know he's busy.. rightfully. The food is really good. The young lady at the register how ever is rude. Just to make sure I wasan’t confusing the young lady personality with being rude. I asked my cousin who frequently eats their she stated “yea the guys are so nice and the food is good but the women are rude”. she took my order talking and looking as if she was over the day ( tired or juss tired of the customers) I then changed my mind before I paid she had Uh attitude 😂. That’s what customers do I saw another meat I wanted plus it was my first time going their. Another thing I didn’t know they had chipotle until after I gotten my food and heard a gentlemen ask for it. She only offered red or green sauce. Other then customer service the food was delicious.

So I ordered the surf and turf shrimp and steak burrito. I had to add guac,cheese, and sour cream. As the burrito only comes with rice oninios and celantro. I'm not sure if because I went around closing time but none of my ingredients were mixed together. Seems like everytime I bit it was into a different section. It had flavor but I think everything should be spreaded evenly throughout the entire burrito. I Also ordered a 3 meat burrito and it had the same problem. Maybe the next time I will try the tacos my son had them and said they were really good. If eveything was mixed together I would rate it with 4 stars.

First off, good luck to you trying to find the place. LA Metro is constructing a station on the Crenshaw line right outside this place. You will miss it if you come from the North side going on the address pin alone. I had to go around the bLock and asked a what looked to be Crenshaw mafia member where the shop was. I drove up the back alley way and park in the car park. There are LA Municipal ordinance street signs that read "No Cruising", which I assume is a gang thing given the small print which defined cruising as "passing the same spot on a street twice in 6 hours". Needless to say I think we can agree that Taco Mells def has the street cred :P Once I found the place I went in and ordered. Food came out hot pretty quick. They are running a tight ship behind the counter. Friendly, excellent service. Good hip hop tunes with the likes of Kanye. The chicken burrito has a special sauce. My only criticism would be that this burrito could be wrapped better. The sauce kind of spills out before it's unwrapped. It is delicious. I will be back soon.

The food is cool but they don't tell you that Taco Tuesday prices are only available if you walk in and place the order and only until 5pm. Online ordering is regular price and when you try to call to get information you are sent to a voicemail.
