The food here was absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the Philly cheese steak and their cheese fries were delicious too! We ordered the lemonade and it left a lot to be desired, but thankfully there are other drink options. I was disappointed because they boasted it was homemade. The staff was very friendly and the restrooms were clean. I can't wait to come back here again and enjoy a delicious sandwich and crispy fries cooked to perfection!

The most authentic steak sandwich I’ve had outside of Philly. Meat was good quality. They have whiz so that’s a huge plus. Bread is right on the money with Philly bread, light but holds together well. Could use a little more seasoning. Only reason they get 4 is because we drove from an hour away to sit in the car and eat because the dining room was closed.

I really enjoyed this place. The place looks a little drab and does not have flair, but that's ok. You are there for the Philly, remember that. On your Philly you get the option of Cheez-Whiz which is relatively unheard of around here. The owner rang up my transaction and you could tell he was hustling and working hard. COVID has killed a lot of restaurants, especially small ones, but Tony Nelson's scaled back their hours to make sure they could still offer its guests great food at peak times. Check this place out! I loved it!

First time here. Food was great. Had the original with fries and drink. Service was awesome and everyone was friendly and thanked us on the way out. Really enjoyed them taking the time for that. I think my only suggestion if they read this is with the fries. Were they hot? Yes. Were they crispy? Yes. Were they flavorful? Not so much. Pretty much just tasted like plain fried potatoes. Need some kinda seasoning, some spice or something. Maybe even something on the tables people could use on them.

Been driving past this place for 3 years now for my job I only said that I would go in and get one one day well today's that day. It's usually looks like it's never busy but it still hanging around, the owner is from Philly which makes it awesome and he gets the bread flown in from there as well let me tell you this is one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had my life, and I'm not just saying that. This thing is huge tons of meat the veggies perfectly sauteed nothing tastes as hell are not fresh at all I got the pepper cheese steak which is the regular cheese steak with bell peppers and onions and I don't regret it at all. I'm just happy I finally got a chance to try this as all the guys that I work with always pass it and have never stopped there I can go be recommending this place. Do yourself a favor and try it at least once.

So you like Phillycheesesteaks? If so, Tony Nelson's is a must try if in Gulfport, MS. This is a locally owned and operated business. The owner grew up in Philadelphia PA and brought his famous recipe with him. I suggest trying the 12" Original. If you want to do it Philly style, add cheese whiz!!!

After living in Philly for 3 years, I have pretty much tried all of the cheesesteak options in the city. This place has the best cheesesteak I've ever had inside or outside Philly. Omg!! This was worth the drive!! We were headed back to Arkansas when I googled places to eat... Yes we turned around quickly to experience this awesome place. It was well worth it!! Gave this place a shot while down at the beach because I love phillies. Only able to give 3 stars because the meat was super bland like it had been washed in the sink. This was the best Philly cheese steak sandwich I've had in a long time. I ordered the 7" and it had a ton of meat in it and I would hate to see what double meat is like. I was wanting to order the cheese steak fries, but I didn't cause I ordered through the Waitr app. I am in Gulfport for training and I will be ordering from here again. This will be the one stop I go to every time I pass through.

Come here with my dad every so often and it's perfection everytime. Idk how many places you see the owner work the front lines to make sure every cheese steak is cooked just right. I hope this place never shuts down. Hell, even the French fries are cooked to a crisp perfection.

Fantastic food, but the business model is pretty stupid, they have an up charge if you use a card, which just seems dumb and they are almost Never open. I have waited the normal 2 days to get food because they choose to be closed every Sunday AND Monday I arrived today on Tuesday ready to get food and they are “closed for cleaning” because apparently the previous two days couldn’t be used for cleaning. Really frustrating business model, but really good food

look at the menu options on the wall and let them know how you want your Philly cheese steak. You want fries and drink with that too?! Sure you can make it a combo! Pay the cashier and take a number. If you're dining in, someone will bring your order to the table. Quick, simple, easy and it doesn't take too long for the food to come out either. Service was friendly and helpful from beginning to end.Just wait till you feast your eyes and tummy on the Philly cheese steak in all of its glorious, cheesy, meaty deliciousness. And the bread- the oh so perfectly hearth-baked bread sent down from the heavens of pure goodness (straight outta Philly). Quality and fresh ingredients made this such a great lunch and I look forward to my next trip down here.

It is not the food that is the problem. It is the service. The cashier was friendly last night. However, the grill woman was absolutely rude. The first order of business is the customer is always right. Not only did she talk down to me when she made my sandwich wrong. She was also rude to her coworkers. If I decide to come back and she is working, I am walking out before I order.

Tony met us and walked us through all of the options prior to ordering and then took his place behind the flat top, the food he gave us was an absolute pleasure to eat!!! Great cheese steak! We're traveling through from Texas and saw this spot on Yelp. Was met by Tony himself at the counter, he walked us through our chooses. My family and I tried the 12" steak with 3 cheese and cherry peppers. 🌶 was a little spicy for me but had a great flavor. We also got a 7" steak with mushrooms. 🍄 That was also very good. All in in Tony's didn't disappoint. Definitely should visit and try a steak.

I've never been to Philadelphia so I can't rank this place by it's authenticity. I can however say that the food was just okay. The staff was very friendly, informative and I always enjoy being able to see my food prepared in front of me. Cheese Steak Deluxe My wife and I split a 12 inch sandwich w/ provolone and mayo. The bun had a nice softness and crunchiness to it and was served toppings up! Biting all ingredients at once made for a pleasant experience. As with any cheese steak though, the meat and toppings will fall out. When tasting the meat by itself, the experience was totally lost. The meat tasted very bland and could benefit from extra seasoning. As for that if you're a seasoning lover. The fires were just okay, but definitely nothing to write home about. Kids Chicken Tenders The chicken tenders were perfect. They were fried crunchy and had loads of flavor. They were fried on spot and extremely hot too so we had to allow them to cool off. Final Thought I'd have to give this place a second try to recommend.

I use to love going to this place but I went today and I ordered a deluxe and I told the lady I want everything on it. I get home with my sandwiches and they only had meat and onions no cheese or condiments on it. Very dry and this was a sad case of a sandwich. I hope it gets better. Maybe they need to get that lady off the grill.I will only go when I know Mr. Tony is cooking.. #verydisappointed

I never been there before until one rainy afternoon heading on Pass Road in Gulfport I noticed them on the left of my view. I went in and saw the menu and said I wanted to test one of their sandwich out. It wasn't even 5 minutes they called my name and they were so polite from the time I came in until the time I left the store. I told them if I enjoyed their sandwich I will definitely come back to visit. Man! Let me tell you when I got into my truck to drive off the smell of that sandwich drove me insane! I couldn't wait any longer as soon as my wife went in a clothing store I opened the bag and took my first bite I fell in love with the taste of my sandwich right there. I kept one other half of the sandwich for my wife and said honey you gotta try this and she said right I bet it's not all that like the ones in New Orleans we had before a few years ago and said they're pretty darn close. She took a bite and also was hooked just like me. Guys I'm not a paid person for their food but you want go wrong by not trying them for once. I will definitely go back soon to get more and will get other foods that maybe just as tasty.

Look, I'm not from Philly and I don't know what it taste like from there. I do know this, these sandwiches are the best whether it's from Philly or Timbuktu. For the people who posted bad reviews, you're either a food competitor or you happen to go the one day things didn't go right for you. I have been here several times and have never had a bad experience, even with the pandemic.

These were the best philly cheese steaks we've ever had! We both had the mushroom Philly with cherry peppers added, which gave it just the perfect amount of zing. They are fantastic. Small shop specializing in Philly steak sandwiches. Not the friendliest of places nor the most efficient. When our order hadn't arrived after 20 minutes, others behind us had got theirs, we asked about our order. The person was rude and seemed insulted that we'd even ask. Said it'd be right out. 5 min later still no order. We went back to the counter and only then did they start cooking our food. We'd only ordered fries with cheese sauce. Doesn't have many inside seats, does have free parking. EDIT: Seeing that Mr. Tony cares and responded to my mostly negative review in a positive manner, I'll reconsider and next time I'm in the area I will stop for a second go. I've also changed my rated to 4 stars. Thank you Mr Tony!

I would rate 3.5 stars if possible. Definitely, mixed reviews on this. I drove a half hour to get here after reading a lot of great reviews. The photos looked great as well. I ordered some kind of philly steak fries with cheese and onions. That was good. And some kind of philly burger which was also good. And the service was great as well. What was not great or even good was the homemade lemonade. It tasted like they may have squeezed in 3 or 4 lemons per gallon and mixed in a 5 pound bag of sugar. There was no tartness or lemon flavor. It just tasted like a spoonful of sugar. I went to buy a fountain drink instead. The cashier was very sweet and gave me a cup to get a coke. I went and selected it and pressed the lever for coke and chunky bits of black something filled my cup. The guy behind me tried also but let the coke run for a minute before putting his cup under. He still had the chunky bits on his cup as well. The cashier was apologetic about it as you would imagine and gave us free bottled drinks of our choice. But I don't know what those bits were but I didn't see anyone close or clean the machine to look. And I have to wonder if it's from never cleaning the fountain drink machine to begin with. Like I said if could I would give 3.5 stars because the food itself was good but not the beverages. The service was good even if it took a few times to get something palatable or not gross in my cup to drink.

Excellent lunch option in Gulfport. It's a small location, so be mindful of that if going with a large group. The staff were all friendly and even being crowded for the lunch rush, were moving very fast. The philly was and excellent sandwich and was steaming hot when it came to the table. Way better than going to subway or firehouse. Also of note, they have one of the coke machines where you can add flavors, and anywhere I can get a cherry vanilla coke will get a lot of stars in my book!

Hands down best Philly Cheese Steaks on the Coast! Tony Nelson’s is a must stop for me and my husband every time we drive down from New Orleans. The restaurant is always so clean and the staff always kind and professional. And the food....CONSISTENTLY delicious! We love the special bread that they have flown in from Philly. It doesn’t get soggy where the sandwich falls apart and you need a fork to eat it. I can’t say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant. We are already looking forward to the next trip!

My first time was today. I’m sad I haven’t been here before now! I was missing out! It was fresh and delicious. Perfect old school vibe inside. Staff was friendly and efficient. I had the Triple Cheesesteak and the Loaded Potato Salad. Would recommend both. Can’t wait to try some other options next time.

I've eaten here a few times and what they do, they do well. You start with some basic sandwich choices from a big board, then you read down the column deciding what optional features you want. The first time you order, it can be a bit confusing. More expensive than the average fast food joint. More in the price and quality range of Five Guys.

As a person who grew up in Philly (and a big fan of Jim's steaks on South Street (Pats and Geno's are for tourists lol) ) I can tell you Tony's steaks are the real deal. This was the very first time I had ever eaten here. As a low carb dieter it is a dream come true lol. I am always looking for something quick and low carb so I ordered the half philly with no bread, it was so awesome. I was totally surprised by the quality of the meat, the amount of the meat, and the perfect blend of cheese and meet. I got pickles and tomatoes on the side, it was so much food that I ate about half for lunch and the rest for supper. It was about 8 bucks so the quality of food for the price is totally awesome. I will be going back sooner than later.

I was born and raised in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area and hadn't had a cheesesteak even come close since moving south. Tony is a Philly native, so he knows what he's doing. I'm a philly native. Moved here in 2013. I can say the authenticity is on point. They use Amaroso rolls which are a big deal in south NJ/Philly. Almost every deli and cheesesteak joint will use Amaroso. They could use more meat in the sandwiches. They are a little skimpy. They should chop their pickled peppers very small. That would be perfect. They have American cheese! Major plus as a real philly has American. Over all, this place is keeping my cravings at bay. Good work Tony Nelsons.
