Highly recommend distinctive catering! The staff was great at the wedding, super helpful, friendly, and flexible to the bride’s wishes! The bar staff were also great, made amazing drinks, and were very very friendly to guests. Communication with Distinctive catering was easy, very fast responses, and they were always willing to accommodate for special requests. Having a family with different dietary restrictions, distinctive catering did an awesome job to provide several meal options so that everyone had the perfect meal for them! 10/10 would recommend. They were great.

We used DC for our wedding! Overall our experience was pretty good- they always responded quickly to emails, allowed us to make changes to our menu frequently, and the food on the wedding day was really good. We did attend a tasting before our event and were not very impressed, but we had already booked with them so we just changed a couple items for our wedding. To our surprise the food was much better at our wedding and we were very pleased. I only have a few complaints: we thought for the money we paid it was ridiculous that they couldn't set up and tear down the included table linens- we had to make two trips out to GR from Kalamazoo to get them before the wedding and return them after the wedding. However, it was in the fine print of the contract so it's our own fault for not realizing that. We also didn't like the fact that we were only allowed to use plastic silverware and plates. We asked about hiring a separate service so we could have real dining wear but were told they would not clear tables if we used another company's dishware. So in order to have the tables cleared for our guests we had no choice but to go with the plastic they provided. I was a bit disappointed that there were several dirty plates left on guests tables at the end of the night. DC left long before the wedding ended so there were just dirty plates with food randomly on tables all night, including my table and I was the bride. However, the food was good like I said and they kindly boxed up a lot of our extra food so we could take it home which I did not expect.

One word to describe Distinctive Catering...delicious! We chose them for our wedding and are so glad that we did. The prime rib was wonderful, mashed potatoes were perfect, and the appetizers were top notch! Our guests commented all night about how good the food was, asking where we catered from, and talked about how friendly the staff was. They also accommodated our vegetarian guests outside of the normal menu which showed just how much they cared. We highly recommend them for any event you may have!

We used Distinctive for our catering and bar service. They were by far the most affordable we found and had many great options as far as food. They did great on our wedding day and the food and bar service was amazing! Our only complaint was the communication leading up to the wedding. Certain details that we confirmed 10 months out from the wedding that we were told were "recorded" were never recorded and had to be reviewed a few weeks prior to the wedding. We also felt that there was some pushback on requests that we thought were very normal. As far as the bar service, Distinctive offers very traditional packages. If we were to do it again, we wish we would have had the ability to add seltzers to the bar offerings. However, we know this is a new trend and have been to other weddings that have not offered them. All and all, we would definitely recommend Distinctive Catering to anyone looking for an affordable quality bar and catering service!

Booked for a wedding; such a great experience from beginning to end. Pricing was great for the quality. Lots of options. John and the rest of the team were incredibly gracious on the day of. It feels like a weird compliment, but the food was hot (speaks to the timing/logistics, I think; I've been to weddings that can't boast the same). And of course it was delicious. When dinner was over they helped us to donate the remaining food to a local shelter, which was just a nice, caring touch. 10/10 would hire again.

We hired them for a Wedding and they were outstanding. We had an issue occur during the event which was out of our catering duties, but they jumped on it and helped as much as they could. I am truly grateful for them for their services and help! The food was delicious, although I did have much time to try it, but from other guests, they said the food was delicious. The bar service was on point and the server was very nice.

Our food was perfectly cooked - I’ve gotten plenty of compliments on both the appetizers and dinner. The servers were so friendly and accommodating. I would hire them again in a heart beat.

Distinctive Catering was absolutely incredible. We used both their bar services and catering services for our wedding. The food was delicious, so many guests commented on the beef brisket and how amazing it was. I can’t compliment the staff enough, the bar tenders were friendly and hustled out drinks, and the catering staff was attentive and so so kind. They really made our wedding day that much more special.

We used DC yesterday for my son’s wedding and they were spectacular! The food was delicious, the staff was efficient and helpful and cleared dishes so quickly. I would highly recommend this caterer. We had an afternoon brunch and an evening picnic fare menu for an after party and they gladly accommodated both meals. Thank you so much for your professionalism and the great food!

My wife and I booked Distinctive Catering for our wedding and could not be happier! The planning process and communication was streamlined and stress-free. The tasting appointment was group-based and non-rigid which was enjoyable and very casual. All the food came out perfectly for the wedding and we had comments about the food, and heard abut the meatballs for days afterwards, some even attempting to make them from home days after the event. We used Distinctive Catering for our wedding over the weekend, and they absolutely killed it. The food, as well as the presentation, was impeccable. Our guests raved all night about how good the it was. The workers were polite and pleasant to work with. They packed up all of our leftover food at the end of the night for us to take. Their pricing was very competitive when compared to others, but still had the same quality if not better. I will say that we requested strawberries to not be included in the fruit salad because one of our guests has an allergy, and they were still included. We had that guest avoid the salad, but I was a bit disappointed because this was something that was communicated to them and I was advised they would be removed. Overall, I would recommend them to everyone though.

Distinctive catered our wedding on 8/13/22 in Holland and we would highly recommend them. They were amazingly flexible when we had to postpone our initial wedding/relocate due to the pandemic. They were responsive with any and all questions we had, and very reasonably priced for the high quality of food and service. Our guests raved about the greek pasta salad and the brisket (and there were Texans there who know their brisket…) Everyone working our event was kind, helpful, and professional. Our other vendors were also quite excited to hear that Distinctive was catering our event, they all mentioned having great experiences with Distinctive. One word of advice to those planning to use Distinctive Catering – get the pretzel and queso for an appetizer, you will NOT be disappointed.

The food tasted delicious and they worked well last minute changes to our dinner time. They were quick to clear the tables when guests were done eating. The food was phenomenal - we had the pasta buffet and it was delicious! They even worked with us on switching the salad due to allergies when we initially selected our choices. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Waddell Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan (which is a venue owned by Distinctive Catering.) The venue itself is beautiful and has a huge parking lot. It is all air conditioned which was amazing for the hot summers here in Michigan. Lindsey and Makayla were very responsive in the months leading up to my wedding and made sure everything was perfect! We had the taco bar and the food was AMAZING! The meat was so tender and seasoned perfect. We got a ton of compliments on it. The staff was VERY nice and helped a ton. The only few things that we didn’t care for. Our guests were only given one plate for a buffet. That was an inconvenience. We paid a pretty good amount of money to have a “soda bar” sense we had a dry wedding, which they served us with 2 liters. The staff was very kind BUT they only gave us about 20 minutes to eat before starting to clean up (when our guests were still trying to eat) and they almost immediately started to pack up all of our decor after our first dance when there was still around 3 hours of our reserved time. We felt VERY rushed. Considering how much we paid for everything, that was kind of a disappointment. Also, the employees WILL eat the food you paid for. We watched each of them take heaping plate fulls of the buffet along with about 10 of our cupcakes. Overall I would recommend The Waddell Center to anyone in need of a venue and would definitely recommend Distinctive Catering - our food was amazing!

The team did an excellent job of outstanding service and when anything was needed, was quick to respond or fix anything needed. It was beautiful! They were exceptionally accommodating as our wedding party pictures were rained out at a park and we were able to come in early at the last minute to take them on location during their set up time. Distinctive Catering is absolutely fabulous. We used their Grandville Banquet Center for our daughter's wedding. They were great to work with ahead of time, and even allowed my daughter to taste-test the menu items. Setup was easy and they had the place looking great. The event itself went perfectly and my daughter commented that it was better than she ever dreamed it would be. We had many comments from guests about the great facility, food, service and the facility-provided DJ - and I agree! Distinctive Catering did everything possible to ensure that everything went well, and they were so nice to work with. I've used Distinctive Catering for other events and they do a perfect job every time!

I contracted with Distinctive for my wedding reception cocktail hour and dinner. The food and drink service was awesome and their Italian food and mashed potatoes are some of the best I've had. The staff were very helpful and responsive to any questions I had. My only problem was that the day of my event during the cocktail hour, they did not provide a portable bar. Everyone was still able to go upstairs and get their drinks with minor inconvenience. I do recommend this company for wedding catering

Communication is key when planning a wedding and they definitely take pride in communicating well. The food turned out amazing. We got brisket and chicken pot pie. Please do yourself and all your guest a favor and get the chicken pot pie! It is absolutely incredible. Definitely a huge crowd pleaser. Meatballs were fantastic as well. Thank you DC!!!

SO MANY of our guests commented on the quality & taste of the food and the bartenders were so much fun! You really can't beat the incredible quality you get for the price. Both supervisors for food & drink made it a priority to introduce themselves to me at the reception and ensure the food and drink were everything I wanted! Definitely would recommend!

Distinctive provided the bar service for our wedding. There were about 160 people and they did a great job. Excellent value for bar service. Easy to communicate with. Never ran out of drinks. Made drinks quickly and efficiently.

We hired Distinctive Catering for our wedding. To ensure our guests would feel comfortable with a buffet, we called and asked Distinctive Catering what would be done as precautions against COVID-19. We were told that caterers would be serving the buffet rather than guests handling utensils, caterers wearing masks, and that the lids will be used to cover the portion of the food that is not being served from. We received an emailed letter 8 days before our wedding giving extra stipulations such as who can slow dance without masks and for "fast dancing", masks must be worn by everyone and people must remain 6 feet apart. We did not have dancing at our wedding but this information should have been provided long before a week and a day before our wedding so that guests can be properly informed. Much to our surprise on our wedding day, the buffet was not being served by the caterers and there was not lids covering the unused portions of food as both sides were being used by guests, which meant that guest were not socially distanced as there was not 6 feet between each row of guests. Fortunately, the caterers did wear masks. We told our guests that certain precautions would be taken to make our celebration more comfortable for those who were worried about COVID-19. I am extremely displeased that I received incorrect information, which I then passed along to all of our guests. The food was overall fine, it was better at the tasting we went to than it was at the wedding. It was compared to hospital food by some guests. I did expect the chicken not to be dry for the price we paid per guest. On the upside, at least the food was warm. The caterers did check in with us several times to make sure that we didn't need anything else and that everything was going well. If you're going to hire Distinctive Catering during COVID-19, check and double check the details of your catered event before your event. If you're going for a buffet, keep in mind that all of your guests will be handling the serving utensils and decide if that risk is ok with you. For us, it was not and we would have gone with a plated dinner had we received correct information.

I want to start off by saying the food and staff was fantastic. I did not care for the linen service they use. The ivory tablecloths and napkins did not match in shade and a lot of ours had stains. They do send extras in case, however I did have to end up using some stained napkins and my ivory tablecloths for the guests were yellow and the buffet table and napkin linens were ivory. They also sent 1/3 of our dessert station and did admit to that mistake and reimbursed us for that portion.

They even surprised the groom and I will a few plates of our appetizers at the head table since we didn't make it to cocktail hour. The service was fantastic and you should absolutely book them. We chose distinctive catering for our October wedding after A) having tasted their food at a previous wedding and being very impressed with how it tasted and B) the price was hard to beat. I enjoyed that the food was ready to go when we got there which is how we planned it. The staff were all very professional and courteous to our guests. After the wedding we had several people rave about how much they enjoyed the food, especially the mashed potatoes. We chose the buffet style but they also had a lot of different options to choose from all of which were reasonably priced. I would recommend distinctive catering to my friends and family.

I used Distinctive Catering for Bar and Food service at my wedding in December. They did an amazing job from start to finish. They even went above and beyond. My husband's grandma can't walk well and someone from the serving staff, came to her table and asked if they could get her plate for her. My father in law said she eats a little bit of everything. The staff member then went to the buffet and got a little bit everything. I found this out the next day was blown away by the kindness and consideration. The bar service also remembered my drink, which was a nice touch. Overall, we were so happy and would highly recommend.

We met the team from Distinctive Catering at a wedding expo, and it was talking to their staff (specifically Sarah) that made us excited to book them as our wedding caterer. From day one, they were so quick to respond to all our questions and had clear, upfront pricing that made it easy to work around our budget. On the day of the wedding, everything was set up and ready to go right on time, and a number of guests raved about the delicious food. We were especially impressed with the friendly catering staff and how well they were able to work in our venue’s very limited kitchen space. Wonderful service all around!

I worked with Lindsey to have my MOH & mom attend a tasting event since I couldn't be there. Which was awesome and very helpful! Everyone loved the food (people raved about the salmon!) and our guests said the bartenders were fabulous. We had plated meals - everything came out hot, delicious and timely. We used Distinctive Catering for our wedding September 17, 2016 at the Grandville Banquet Center. Distinctive Catering was awesome! The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The best part was their staff. They were so friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond, making sure no one went hungry and everything was perfect. They even wrapped up our wedding cake for us and all the left overs as well. They gave us the option to donate them or take them home. We had an amazing experience there for a funeral luncheon. The room was beautiful, the food was DELICIOUS, and the staff was super friendly and helpful! We over-estimated the number of guests, so the staff very efficiently packaged up the remaining food so we and some of the guests could take it home. I wish I could break this down by each group we dealt with. Because the staff that served us food and drinks were amazing, and deserve 10 stars. I wish I got the bartender's name, as she was the best of them all. We enjoyed them so much, we shared our wedding donuts with the staff, and they even came out for a song when the DJ challenged them to a wedding party vs staff dance off. The food that day wasn't quite as good as I remember from the tasting. But, I guess you're creating bulk in a short time period. It wasn't bad by any means, just not what I remembered. The building was clean, and it actually looked great once we decorated, but it's old and could probably use an update. Especially the outside, where I ended up showing the guy working the grounds how to use his weed killer. He was pretty cool too. We really wanted the Grandville building that they shown us, despite it being booked on our date. This kind of set my attitude towards this place. Why show us something that wasn't available? You knew our date. From that point on, I never really liked dealing with our contact, Kim, I think was her name. She never seemed very friendly, and that doesn't work for customer service, especially in the wedding business! It was just little nuisances working with her. She also wasn't ever rude, just didn't really seem like she cared. But again, we made the Wyoming building look great. And as ballroom dancers, this venue had the largest dance floor of all the places we checked out. Round of applause for the serving staff.

Distinctive Catering provided all the food and setup at an outdoor lunch for our business. They exceeded our expectations in every way: arrived early, completely setup on time, cleaned up everything perfectly, and the food and service were outstanding. We will definitely use them again.

Hosted our High School prom there this April. At first, when I heard about the venue, I was not sure what the quality would be, as a previous organizer had made the arangements, site unseen. From the outside, it is in an inconspicuous location, in the suburban sprawl of Division, but I can tell you, the venue, staff and catering FAR exceeded any expectations I had. Inside, the hall was the perfect size for our group of about 150, and provided ample space for a dance floor, food service area and even included a large working fireplace to set the mood. The food was an option that "we were stuck with" due to the previously made arangements, and it was not something we could opt out. We ended up going with the Signature Buffet, the least costly option, not thinking that the quality would be that great and that most student would not be eating. We were blown away. Everything was stellar. I would not be writing a review, had I not genuinely been favorably surprised by how great it was. The chicken was barbecued on-site, wood smoked, and could smell it getting ready as we were setting up. Something as simple as baked potatoes, were perfectly made, and the sides were excellent - like a real meal, not some cheap knock off. Lastly, the staff was impeccable, highly supportive, easy going, fun and always willing to lend a hand in any capacity. Super impressed by this small venue. If you can get over by its less than glamorous location, you will have a great time at a very reasonable cost.

The staff for ordering and chosing food and the staff at the tasting were very helpful. The food at the tasting is mostly the upcharge food. The only thing I thought was very inappropriate was the caterer came up to the head table of my wedding to ask me (the bride)details. I should not be the person to ask and I gave them a day of contact. Don't forget to look at all the fees attached. One thing I did like was they packed up all the left overs and left them for me to take home.

They were great all through the process, from planning and ordering, delivery, set up, service and clean up. The office and serving staff were professional, capable, friendly and efficient. So I'm a little biased because I work here, but the food is very good and we work SO hard to make sure the venue is clean, the events are on point and most of all that the guests are happy. If I ever get married or have a special party, I will happily patronize my own employer.

Was there for a group meeting, which included a buffet meal. Salads were pre-set on the tables - smallest salad I have ever seen with only two choices of dressing. Meal was ok, nothing spectacular.
