Dressing a yes, greens a yes, yams mmmmmmm. Be prepared to wait patiently. Clean, updated atmosphere INSIDE. 19.99 for a turkey leg and two sides was reasonably priced to me. Thank you for the experience today. I agree all food temps should be equal so I had to minus a star.

Hi My Name is Lisa: My Husband and i visited Chicago Food on The Run. We were greeted by a Gentleman name Keuntee . The customer service I Received coming in the door was phenomenal. I explained to Keuntee this was my Husband and I Frist time hear. I was very impress with his extraordinary customer service he sold me . the conversation that we had on the food he took his time he did not rush me it was very well please. My Husband got the Creole style Bake chicken with mac and Broccoli and I order smothered chicken with gravy with candy yams and greens on the side this Food was Awesome just awesome whoever the cook is I take my Hat off to the cook this is really soul food.... this is better than Morris soul food. Attention attention all you people who like to eat like me and try new things and get good customer service this is the place you can also dine in. My Husband and I definitely will be back Keuntee for your customer service and for them shrimps and Grits next on my line.

Food On The Run…I’m Running Back To Them for the fun…I’ve never been to a restaurant where all the food is Great. EVERYTHING we had was absolutely AMAZING, TASTEFUL and DELICIOUS as we tasted different food on everyone plate. If you haven’t tried their food you are missing out. I drive 2 hours from Central Illinois to order the Southwest eggrolls and Peach cobbler eggrolls from Food on the Run. I am never disappointed! I read a negative review about the items being too expensive, but we are in a time where quality costs! Small businesses still need to be able to thrive and keep going. Food on the Run is worth every penny even if inflation affects the cost! 5 stars every time I visit!

OMG! I've been trying to get some food from this location for a few months now. Why is this food so delectable and delicious! I can't stay away. Right in the middle of the block on 80th and Ashland, there's parking always. Can't wait until they open the dining area. Staff are sweet and helpful. Very polite and fast. The pictures DON'T DO THIS FOOD JUSTICE! I thoroughly enjoyed both meals that I've purchased from this wonderful establishment. I have now committed myself to trying everything on the menu assuming everything tastes great. I'm going today and tomorrow.

Had the stuffed salmon (which wasn't stuffed, it was a piece of salmon laying on top of the red skin potatoes)with red skinned mashed potatoes, mac n cheese & green beans. All of it was delicious. I went for the fried lobster tail and they didn't sell it on this particular Friday so I was disappointed however I decided to try something new and had the baby lamb chops and oh my they were delicious and I'm not really a lamb meat eater but I would definitely eat them again. Also the Mac and cheese. Was oh so good

The sweet potato salmon was EXCEPTIONAL. Chicken wings was killer as well. Appetizers were all great, but the corn muffins were dry and tiny. Small portions for the prices, but more filling than expected. Definitely recommend for special events and splurge days. Don't let the modern appearance of the venue fool you, this is old school soul food.

I was looking forward to trying their Shrimp and Grits. It was Saturday though so Chicken Alfredo w/garlic bread was on the menu. The menu changes daily so keep that in mind. The wait to carryout the Chicken Alfredo was ridiculous, 45 minutes. The Garlic bread was good, the Alfredo was good too, but to much sauce for my liking.

So I visited because a friend had ordered an i saw the food looked really good. Hey ended up getting the pot roast special. I was missing my sweet potatoes, and my top wasn’t on my greens all the way so it spilled in the bag soaking my lil muffin cornbread. I was just so disappointed I called an sat on hold , no one ever came back to the phone. I ate the pot roast an it was delicious, nice an spicy. The two orders of different Mac is weird for me , it was supposed to be seafood Mac an yams. The greens were ok just didn’t have much flavor but if I can get my sweet potatoes an cornbread corrected I would have given four stars. Because i drove 45 minutes away to try this .

For awhile now I’ve been trying all of the soul food around Chicago and haven’t quite found one that I enjoy. So recently I decided to try this place and I’m so glad I did. In my opinion this is the BEST SOUL FOOD IN CHICAGO. The taste of everything I’ve gotten is beyond good, everything is seasoned just right and cooked perfectly. The portion sizes are great for the price and the menu offers such a wide variety of options. Customer service is also the best I’ve had, I’ve been there twice this week and the staff is super friendly and pleasant. I’m so excited I’ve found a great soul food place and will definitely be going every chance that I get. Can’t wait to try more from the menu!

The meal was decent tbh. I thought it would be finger licking good for the price, but it was nice. I personally think it needs more seasoning, if your a spice connoisseurs than you would like the spicy kick it has. I think it takes away from the meal. Its a 6/10 for me.

All of the dinners I got via Uber Eats for a total of 124.00 from this restaurant was awesome, delicious and well packaged. Thank-you so much for taking care and pride in the food your preparing. This is the 1st soulfood restaurant I have ordered from that actually has good, well seasoned food. Who ever is in that kitchen keep them, they have a gift and cook from the soul. Also to the people that find the prices unreasonable that's simple not true food now a days is just very expensive. I have paid more at other places and had to throw the food away. So to the owner I understand the cost Thanks again I will be back!!!!

Food is great but cordial service is lacking ! My wife and I were the first customers in line on Friday .We stood and waited as they prepared to open. The waitress never greeted us ! She just sit there and looked at us instead of welcoming us to the restaurant. We had to step up and ask her if she was ready to take our orders. I think management need to make sure that the people who are waiting on the customers are trained an hospitable as I believe this will determine the success of the restaurant.

Experienced my Food on Run two weeks ago after work 7pm. My menu was Lemon Salmon, Mac & Cheese, stringbeans. I'm not a big eater, but I ate the whole thang! It was well seasoned, hot frm there to home, far Southside. I truly recommend. Thanks Chef of that night!

I was skeptical about trying this place out for the first time but I will say I am happy that I did. Today I tried the Fish fry and my sides were spaghetti and green beans and potatoes it was amazing. Soon as I entered I was greeted and even when I called the experience was great. Not what I expected. I ordered jerk shrimp but they were regular seasoned Cajun shrimp, still good though. The hot honey wings weren't spicy at all, more like honey bbq wings but still good. The signature punch taste like grape kool-aid. I gave them a 3 because my taste buds were expecting that "jerk" and "spicy" flavor but I didn't get that. And also the cheese used in the Mac & cheese had a cream powdery texture. Overall, it wasn't bad, I'm willing to try again, maybe one of the Specials would be better.

I ate there for the first time today after I heard about them this morning, the way she was talking about them I had to go see for myself I had the Pot roast, greens and sweet potatoes, and banana pudding. I thoroughly have enjoyed the Tuesday Special of Pepper Steak and rice. I plan to try other offerings in the near future. The wait time can be long but worth it. Call ahead because I have experienced they run out items before 7pm . The sides of greens, sweet potatoes and string beans and potatoes are GREAT !!!

Mannnnnnn, I was going to smack everybody mama in this place. I ordered mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, and smothered wings. The food was delish it reminded me of my grandma's cooking. Only complaint, they need better customer service, lose the attitude black queens. There was only one girl that was pleasant on today and she was the one handing out the orders. If they get that customer service game up, I definitely see great things in the future.

OMG! Delicious!!!, tried for the first time yesterday, had the shrimp&grits, husband had the lamb chops, at first I thought it was pricey but me and my husband both agree it was worth every penny!! Felt so good to sew seed in to a well deserving black owned establishment, and it was great to be able to get a quality meal in the neighborhood!! I was really excited about this place but the pot roast ruined it for me. 😔 The pot roast didn't have gravy and instead had oil covering everything. I was soooooo disappointed. It had no flavor. Just grease. Also, during my 1st experience, the mac&cheese was spicy as if it contained nacho cheese. I was so hurt because the rest of my meals were great and I loved the atmosphere/decorations.

I'll be back someday. I placed an order for 8; and all 8 raved about the food. I was one of the 8. I was trying to recreate a summer food party because the former caterer is no longer available. Chicago Food On The Run filled in quite nicely. I checked a day in advance to see what food was available. It gave me plenty of meal delivery preparation time. I don't live in state mostly so it will be awhile before I get back but I've found a new favorite spot.

My 5 stars is strictly on the food taste—I’ve only had 2 run ins where my order was messed up but the food portions and taste is BOMB. I appreciate that they are black owned and they put some soul in the food.. I’ll always eat from here. My favorite so far is the jerk pot roast dinner and the fried lobster tail dinner.

I got there about 30 min before closing ordered what was left and it was really good. I like the decor the staff was really nice, but the lack of enforcement of mask and social distancing almost made me leave. None of the staff had on mask and too many customers were inside either waiting, picking up or ordering without mask on. When I asked is mask wearing enforced the response was yes but clearly it wasn't. Covid-19 is real and it should be taken seriously. I would love to come back and try another dish but I'm worried that the staff in the back preparing my food is not taking the proper precautions.

Food is flavorful and prepared just right everytime! Be prepared to spend some extra money tho, this is not TOO expensive but more expensive than one would think. 4 hotnhoney wings are 9.99 with no side...that is a bit much. Call your order in as well because there is a wait.. but the food is good!

I have been to this restaurant at least 5 times and hope to see them continue to improve and thrive, so that when things are back to normal, I can visit more often. My only issue as has been stated by others is that they run out of desserts too quickly and it is my hope that since they know these items are very popular, they adjust the amount they prepare or maybe limit the amount sold to one person so that more people have a chance to buy. I also think that as creative as they are with their cuisine, there is room to expand their dessert offerings- cakes, pies, cobblers, tiramisu, cheesecake, sweet potato pie, cinnamon rolls. My other comment is in response to the recent episode of ChgoFoodToGo, where it showed the restaurant had delivery. Imagine my excitement when I saw that only to find there is no delivery according to the Google listing, where there is an "x" for delivery. I don't consider GrubHub or those other delivery services desirable, safe or reliable for accountability and will never use them, but if you ever hire in house delivery persons where their services will be held directly accountable by your restaurant, I am totally in and will be doing business with you more often. Right now, during this cold snap would be a wonderful reason to have REAL delivery people and continue to get locally supported. I'd love to be ordering every day.

First I’d like to say that this place is pretty decent . The staff were super nice and professional, I even called before I came in and the lady on the phone was super nice professional and explained everything so well . I had the Creole bakes chick , with mashed potatoes , with Mac and cheese . It’s was good , the only thing I would say is it’s super greasy . Other than that I had no problem. I would rate it an 8/10 I would go back and bring others with me !! GREAT JOB GUYS

I ordered the smothered chicken, (they only serve smothered wings) the smothered chicken wasn't really smothered in the gravy, it was more like drip in gravy, l like my meat really smothered in gravy, but it's seems to be popular, cause people were coming in and out, but for my taste l love 💕 Morrison soul food, where l don't have to season the green's, or add hot sauce or anything, at Chicago food on the run, their green's wasn't season enough for me,(and I'm not into spicy food,) and their yams, wasn't sweet enough to me, and the woman at the counter keep the corn muffins under the counter, l feel the muffin, should be in the back with your order, not under the counter, l don't mind these business, being a little pricey, but I want my food to be done right, where I don't need not to add anything,(but a fork and my appetite) it's a good place for some people, but not for me,

Today Was My First Time I Found Them on Instagram.. When I say That Stuffed Turkey Leg Was AMAZING 🤩 OMG‼️ EVERYTHING was fresh and flavorful a HIT.. Even Have Plenty Left for Lunch Tomorrow lol.. I Will Definitely Be Back cuz somebody granny in there 😭❤️

I l have been looking forward to trying the food here. I ordered thru uber eats but I guess I should’ve went to dine in. I ordered the fried salmon with seafood Mac , sweet potatoes and green beans. I received a tiny piece of salmon and my sweet potatoes taste like it was out of a can instead of fresh. Also the Mac didn’t taste fresh, more like it was microwaved from the previous day. My husband ordered the beef short ribs and those were fatty with mostly vegetables and barely any meat. We paid $80 and got baby portions for our money. I gave 3 stars since the food didn’t taste bad.
