Reviews of The Coast Cafe
If you’re like me and you just moved up to Boston from the South, you might be craving some fried catfish and no other fish will do. This is the first place I found so far that didn’t serve fried catfish as a sandwich or po’ boy.
ORDER: Fried catfish with 2 sides: macaroni and cheese, and green beans. Also came with cornbread.
PRICE: Given the portion size and quality of the meal, $22 is a reasonable price that is comparable to those of other restaurants. I ended up making 2 meals out of a single order.
FISH BREADING: Even after a 30+ minute transport home straight from the restaurant, the cornmeal coating was still crispy. Not too thick or doughy.
FISH MEAT: The meat was soft and flaky; it had absolutely no fishiness or toughness that catfish can have. The restaurant was not stingy on the size of the fish, serving it as actual fillets (I had 1.50 fillets) instead of narrow strips. And portions of it were thick; in the picture I took, the piece was as thick as my thumb, a little less than an inch. No part of it was chewy, remaining consistently soft and fully cooked throughout.
SIDES: The green beans were fresh and perfectly soft. More importantly, the flavor was well-balanced and not too vinegary. Not sure if it was the time it took to transport it home, but the mac and cheese was a bit dry. But the noodles were still chewy, and not mushy despite the travel time. The cornbread muffin was soft and sweet and not a crumbly mess.
SERVICE: Take-out is the only option at this time. But the person who took my order was pleasant and efficient.
CONCLUSION: YES, I would definitely go back. And YES, I would recommend it, at least for the fried catfish. I have no complaints about the restaurant (other than the double set of doors that was a bit tricky to maneuver) or the food. 5 stars from me!
Delicious. We live far too close to this restaurant to have taken over a year to finally order. I ordered the fried wing combo with collard greens and Mac n cheese. The Mac was out of this world, very cheesy. And the wings, so much flavor. My husband had the smoked BBQ pork ribs and loved it too. They were so incredibly nice here as well, you can tell they treat everyone like family. Cannot wait to try more on the menu!
So glad this local spot re-opened! I went with a friend to get the fried chicken plate and fried catfish plate.
Sides were amazing (collard greens, mac n cheese, green beans, cornbread muffins, rice and beans). We also got the sweet potato pie which was 💯💯 Definitely come with an appetite!
Did not disappoint! I am thoroughly impressed that they even allowed walkins the day before Thanksgiving within hours of them closing that in itself is amazing. The staff was really sweet. The food was amazing and tasted like home. This definitely will not be my last time here they found themselves a regular. I can’t wait to try what else they have.
The Coast Cafe should be the standard for soul food in Boston. I ordered the fried chicken thigh combination which comes with cornbread and your choice of two sides. The rice and beans were perfectly seasoned, the collard greens were tender without a single mushy leaf, and the cornbread completed the whole plate with its sweetness. But the fried chicken y'all -- juicy, not over-battered, and no gaps or sloughing off as you take your bite. That's extremely hard to do. Even before the pandemic, they mainly operated on takeout, and their experience shows with their friendly staff, attention to detail in neatly packing meal boxes, and maintaining food quality on the way home. Wish I still lived in Cambridge so I could be back sooner.
Food was good. Catfish was flavorful. Yams were pretty good not excessively sweet. Mac and cheese was good but seemingly luke warm, an overall good experience. Worth a try if in the area on a day they are open.
Awesome people and great food! By far the best fried chicken in Boston! I placed an order about 45 minutes before they closed and the food was made to order and take out service was fast.
Man oh man! The Coast Cafe has been on my to-eat list forEVER and I'm so glad I finally got takeout from them! First off -- the FOOD. Chicken thigh plate was delectable. Two big pieces of chicken thigh, fried to perfection, with the breading crispy and adhering to the meat instead of falling off the protein as soon as you tear into it. Similar story with the fried catfish: perfectly breaded, with a light, clean taste (it was almost a fattier, more delicious haddock, with none of that "fishy" taste.) Mac & cheese side was creamy and rich and the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the collards side was nice and smoky with bits of (I think) pulled pork. And the free cornbread? Holy smokes. I inhaled that so quick I couldn't even take a picture. It's Southern-style, so more like moist cake and sweeter, and it just made for the perfect end to our meal.
Service was friendly and fast; order came out on time, hot, and accurate. Great social distancing signage outside the storefront, enforced as far as I could see around the building and inside as well. Store looked clean and neat as well, for the brief period of time I was in it. Plus, they're a black-owned business, which really should be reason enough to visit!
Very tasty cake! We had the sweet potato pie and a vanilla and almond cake.
Can really recommend to taste them!
This is THE place for fried chicken in the Boston area. The flavors were amazing and the portions were large. Price was very fair for the quality and quantity you get. I’m going to back here soon I’m sure - the chicken is outta this world!
This food flashed me back to the soul food I got right after I attended mass at the Atlanta baptist church. I have been looking for good soul food in Boston and this is by far the best. Get the yams! My god!!!
Their fried chicken is really crispy not greasy. I also loved their sides, they were both yummy. I'll go again next time I'm in the area; it's hard to find decent soul food with good portions at a fair price.
This place isn’t bad but its not the best soul food I’ve ever had. The wait is about 45min which is ridiculous. The sides are already made and meats don’t take that long to fry. Parking is a bit hard to get but parking in lot next door you can be towed. Inside is very small. A few chairs inside just in case. I got the fried thighs and two sides. They gave me one thigh with a bone in it and one without I’m not sure why I couldn’t get two of the same. Food could have had a bit more flavor in my opinion. I probably won’t return.
I’ve been meaning to eat here forever, and wasn’t disappointed! The combo plates are a deal. My fried chicken was flawless, I could have eaten a pint of the mac and cheese, and my boyfriend was grinning ear-to-ear while he devoured the ribs. Looking forward to trying the chicken and waffles next time.
I ordered here prompted by Uber, early during the Pandemic. They did not disappoint. Fish cooked to perfection, great yams, and delivered timely. Delicious, almost like home. I'll order from them again.
I am SO GLAD that you guys are open again!! We moved here last year and feel so lucky to be down the street because this is the best soul food ever, ribs fall off the bone and the Mac n cheese is to die for. Literally they are the whole package. OBSESSED.
Awesome food and service. Nice southern soul food. Plenty to choose from
Like the puff and rib so good. The restaurant allows to get inside 2 people .
Get the plain, fried mix. The thigh and breast were crispy and delicious. We didn’t love the hot wings or jerk wings. The sauces weren’t great and the wings weren’t crispy.
I did a take out recently, and their service was a bit slow because of the pandemic, but the wait was worth it. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
I would definitely recommend the jerk chicken, and the mac n cheese and yams as sides.
The customer service was excellent the young lady was very nice!! The food overall was okay I loved the Mac and cheese the fish (haddock was dry to me and the chicken was dry) I will eat there again and try something eles but I was disappointed a little
My go to spot for the fried chicken craving. Order ahead as it usually takes 20 minutes to prepare the food. It is worth the wait! Not a lot of parking in the area and it's strictly a take out place. Try the Mac n cheese , mashed potatoes sides as well. The house hot sauce is amazing too.
Ordered the buffalo wings combination plate with coleslaw and fries. The chicken wings were excellent, spicy but not too spicy and cooked just right. The cornbread and coleslaw was very good, the fries felt a little bit moist and bland, but overall very pleased with this food.
Pretty decent soul food. As you have it, you'll get that fire deep in your soul. In this desert of delicious food, the coast coffee saves your day.
The best fried chicken southern style dishes very delicious if you come to Cambridge mass its a must have the vanilla almond cake is to die for 😋😋😋
Awesome experience. Great staff and delicious food. Worth the 30mins drive.
Like eating with family.
Dishes are outstanding.
Comfortable atmosphere
Have been visiting since they opened over 20 yrs ago. Quality and service have remained consistently good. As I get older I eat less of the fried offerings and more of the BBQ and grilled items on the menu. Our last order was BBQ ribs. We always get the collard greens (among the best we've ever had) and also string beans or rice & beans. We rarely get dessert from restaurants but make an exception for Coast's sweet potato pie, very smooth and not too sweet.
Incredible. Best fried chicken I've ever had by far (so tender and juicy and crispy), the ribs are great too, and the collards are so flavorful!
Really small place and they've got limited hours right now, so they were really overwhelmed with customers when I went right as they opened at 1 on a Saturday. Food took a while, but they were clearly slammed and it was absolutely worth the wait.
Called in an order for takeout yesterday for my brother's birthday. Got several combo plates - fried breast, fried mixed, and fried wings with mac and cheese, collards, and rice with jerk and bbq sauces. Generous portions and the chicken was delicious!! Even after bringing it home and heating it up in the oven later, the skin was beautiful and remained crispy, was nicely seasoned. Very nice woman on the phone who took my order and repeated it back to me to ensure accuracy. Thank you Coast Cafe for a delicious birthday meal for my family and friends!
I always order through Uber Eats and everything is perfect. I am actually amazed at how good everything is from here.
So far I have had the BBQ ribs, jerk wings, coast wings (flourless), the regular fried chicken, collard greens, rice and beans w/ gravy, mac and cheese, and the yellow cake with chocolate frosting- all completely delicious. It's real home made soul food!
OH AND THE CORN MUFFINS <3. They're included with the meals but I sometimes order an extra one because they are that amazing.
No matter what you order, you won't ever be disappointed.
Wow, the coast cafe definitely lives up to the great reviews. We got the pork ribs, fried chicken , the jerk wings, everything was scrumptious. I have never tasted anything like this, had southern food(can't comment on authenticity) in some places before but nothing close to this good. The sides like mac and cheese, collard greens, candied yams, everything was great too, favorite being the Mac and cheese. Good food takes time , so try to call ahead. We called at 6 pm on Friday and got a 7 pm pickup and waited an additional 45 mins as many people were waiting too. Thankfully we were not very hungry, so could wait .Definitely going back again and highly recommend it.
Amazing fried chicken, definitely my favourite place in the Boston area. The chicken is always amazingly crisp (and somehow avoids the dreaded steamed/soggyness that often plagues takeout fried food) but still tender and juicy, and the collard greens and Mac and Cheese are solid sides. Highly recommend.
Finally, flavorful, REAL, soul food. The yams sent me on a journey
Im so sad this place is closed now😭😭literally had the food once and it was so damn good. Now I am a picky eater because I am Haitian and our food is always well seasoned. This is why I have high expectations when it comes to food. That being said, this food was freakin AMAZING ! And I hope they open back up. …
Don't love the chicken, and the beef patties can be a bit salty, but otherwise, this place is dope!
The main reason they don't get 5 stars is because I always order the same thing and they routinely forget something (usually the extra cornbread or tarter sauce). And I've gotten rice and black-eyed peas instead of mac & cheese on two separate occasions. The rice and peas are very good, but it's not mac & cheese.
Food was seasoned just right. Did not have to add salt or any other seasoning. Bought a wing platter for my very picky eater mother and she absolutely loved it. Matter of fact we all ate from her plate as we ordered lack luster food from another establishment. I should have ordered all of my food from there.
Good fried chicken, good sides. I say good not great. The quality is great, the flavor is great, it isn't my personal favorite for the batter they use.
This is an indulgent restaurant. Very heavy, and rich sides.
Great staff. The interior is amazingly small, don't expect to stand around and wait the 15+ minutes it takes for your food to be cooked. They have quirky hours as well, make sure their open before going.
The food was phenomenal! I’ve lived in Cambridge, MA for about a year and have not often expanded my restaurant searches beyond Central Square when in need of a quick bite. Long story short, I’ve been missing out on The Coast Cafe. My boyfriend and I ordered (~30 minute wait) in early June as we were out on a bike ride. Our order included two fried mixed chicken plates with each side (candied yams, collard greens, string beans, and rice and beans). Unfortunately, we were unable to take any pictures because as soon as we opened the boxes and smelled the food we couldn’t waste time to take a picture. The chicken was perfectly crisp and the sides were delectable.
We know we will make it back again soon since we missed the Mac & cheese, hopefully I can share pictures then.
Thanks for a wonderful meal!
Love, love, love! This is the place to go for the best fried chicken in Boston.
The coating on the chicken is fantastic: Thin, crispy, and well seasoned. A thin coating also means minimal oil absorbed, which makes the chicken less greasy... though, by no means is a meal here very figure friendly! The chicken itself is also seasoned, too. I love getting a double order and letting some chill in the fridge to have it cold for lunch the next day.
Ribs are not too shabby either.
My favorite sides are mac and cheese and stewed collard greens. Yum. If you go there later in the day, they'll often be out of mac and cheese. Do not let this happen to you, as the mac and cheese is divine. I'd avoid the sweet potato casserole as I found it tooth-achingly sweet, and also the green beans, which tasted like it came straight out of a can.
I moved up to Massachusetts 5 years ago from the South and have been lamenting the fact that there is not good fried chicken here ever since. Man, am I happy to be wrong! Thank you for bringing a little bit of that Southern comfort (or soul) to this transplant. If you haven't checked out The Coast Cafe, you should! The empanadas were delicious--so moist and not under or over seasoned! The sides...the collard greens and cornbread were sooo good! And don't even get me started about the mac 'n cheese. Tastes like your mother just baked a big batch of it fresh! I'll definitely be back when I get that hankering for some real, good, fried chicken!
Bomb food, the best and the staff here are great!!
I’ve had the fried chicken and waffles with sides. Was hands down the best fried chicken you could get and the portion was quite big
Usually have to wait 20~40 minutes for my order but I just plan around that and it’s very much worth the wait 😋
Very tasty local spot for southern style food. I had the fried thigh plate and a beef patty.
Once again you and your wonderful staff at Coast Cafe, have outdone yourselves!! Joshua's birthday celebration was an amazing time and partly due to your delicious food. Everyone gave high praise to every dish and went back for seconds and thirds.
Thank you so much for being such a Beacon of Light in the Community!
We love Coast Cafe!!
All the Best!!
I got the Fried chicken thighs, Mac & Cheese and candied yams. The fried chicken was crispy and not too greasy. I enjoyed my food. The only thing I was concerned about was the long wait. I recommend if you are going to come to this place. Call ahead to order.
I visited this establishment after a client meeting nearby, and simply put, this is some of the best fried chicken and ribs I have had in a longtime. Service is not fast by any stretch of the imagination, but that was fine since the food was great. It is a hole in the wall, but if you find seating, it is comfortable enough to eat-in. They have takeout service as well, and I wish I lived close enough to utilize this.
Excellent fried chicken, nice that it comes with real maple syrup. I got the thighs, would recommend. Cornbread muffins were very sweet but buttery and tasty. BBQ ribs were pretty good. My companion really enjoyed the collards with smoked turkey.
Great little place, we got the mixed chicken plate with two sides of mac n cheese and sweet potatoes. The mac and cheese was simplistic and basic, sweet potatoes are sweet and had great texture of brown sugar. The fried chicken here is the most important component to the dish....and it was burnt. So we were a little disappointed but overall not bad for a southern joint in the northeast.
Saturday I had some really good macaroni and cheese and fried chicken. Hot, tasty and seasoned very well. I will definitely be ordering some more again!!! The other thing I love about this place is that it is owned and operated buy a Husband-and-Wife team that were both raised in Cambridge. #cambridgeroots
These guys are the best! They were near closing time but still graciously took an order for me and my three friends as we got ready to celebrate my 30th Birthday. Then they asked if I liked pie and threw in a slice of sweet potato pie (my favorite) and even wrote Happy Birthday on the pie container. Also the fried chicken is amazing. What more can you ask for? Amazing service, amazing people, amazing food. Thank you!!!
Really I'm just reviewing the fried chicken. The sides were good but the fried chicken makes me so happy that I don't bother eating anything else. I just get the 3-piece fried chicken box and save all of my appetite for that deliciousness. They're closed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Really, it's safest to call ahead to make sure they're open. Takes 20 minutes to fry the chicken so I like to call ahead anyhow so I don't have to wait for my food to cook. Tiny little space with just a few seats if you want to eat there. Most people seem to get takeout.
Wow, I tried the catfish sandwich and was not disappointed. The sandwich was amazing and a good sized portion. The Mac and cheese is home made and delicious. I can't wait to order from here again and try the chicken and waffles.
Made a special first-time trip here with a friend from out of town. The cook knows what he's doing. The food was good, but meat portion sizes are too small for the price. Disappointed that they didn't have sweet tea, especially since this is a soul food restaurant. Roof needs repairs quickly, buckets were set up all throughout the interior to catch rainwater leaking through.
Having been raised on soul food, I have only tasted the delicious home cooked food from aunties and relative whom have since moved on to the ancestral plains. And I have eaten soul food from everywhere east to west north and south. So I know what great soul food taste like.
I have been trying to order via GrubHub for weeks now to no avail because I quest Everett is way off the map. Sic...With great determination, I decided to go there on the bus, train and hoofing it. From the moment entered the Coast Cafe’ the vibe was very pleasant, service was professional, and the food was worth the wait and effort to get there.
Today I tasted the chicken wings, collard green, MAC n cheese, and cornbread that was perfection.
Don’t let the small size of the place fool you. Big ups to Coast Cafe!
I feel so silly for having lived close by for a year before trying this place. The fried chicken and bbq ribs were great. (I advise skipping the waffles though.) Sides were also fantastic. I hope this place thrives -- it's a great thing to have to an area without a lot of good food.
The staff here are very honest to be honest. The front guy charged me triple the amount of the food and then told me about it and he and the kind lady made it right. Since I am vegetarian I got the sides of green beans, candied yams, black eyed peas and brown rice. Yumm yumm in my tum tum son
Coast Cafe has the best fried chicken in town -- and great sides, and excellent ribs and fried catfish and... well, so far we haven't had anything that wasn't excellent. Without a doubt, though, start by trying the fried chicken. The greens and the sweet potatoes are great sides, as is the mac and cheese; I'm getting hungry just writing about it. And the folks there are very friendly.
There's only three stools inside for seating; this is definitely a to-go place (especially in the summer, when the kitchen steams the whole place up). No delivery, either. But it's worth driving out and picking up a plate of deliciousness!
The food is consistently great tasting and fresh. It's the closest you get to Big Mamma's cookin'! I recommend the cat fish or chicken and you can't go wrong on any of the sides. I hope they open up a larger location with more seating in the future.
Great southern food served by an amazing staff!
The fried chicken here is unbelievable. I got the fried thighs plate, and my GF got the fried wings plate. The skin on the chicken is fried to perfection, without large clumps of breading that you get with KFC-style chicken. And the spices, my goodness! SO good. To complement the meat, their collard greens and mac & cheese are also delicious.
From the moment we walked-in to moment we were done eating everything off our plate, the service was one of. The best things I’ve ever experienced. THE FOOD?! Literally, everything was absolutely DELICIOUS. Everything. And we ordered everything but, ribs(next time) and BBQ sandwichs(next time) HANDS DOWN THE BEST SOUL FOOD PLACE IN BOSTON!
Expensive, but every bite is worth every penny. Truthfully the definition of quality over quantity, the short beef ribs & fried chicken combo is everything. The cornbread muffins melt in your mouth after a crunchy bite, no butter needed, also served warm. Limited parking order ahead or uber if you choose to dine in.
First Time Tasting their Food Since Moving From NYC and I Can Say, Speechless
The BEST fried chicken in Boston or 'Camberville', and I promise you: I've tried it all. Pretty much everything here is amazing. The chicken, Mac n' Cheese, Green Beans, the works. And almost above all else: the corn bread. It all surpasses words, you have to taste it. Know that there really isn't any seating, maybe two or four in the entire place. This is strictly take-out.
Not exactly near anything, Central Square is probably the closest major square.
Food is actually very good. Well seasoned. The only con is that the chicken is a bit tough... could be much softer for a fried chicken. Customer service is great. Will be back to try more items.
Hands down, they have the best fried chicken in the Greater Boston area. We have tried several places here and no one can top their chicken. Being that we are from the Dirty South, I was amazed by their mac n cheese. No powder cheese baby, just like we make it back home. Last but not least excuse my language, them damn collard greens off the chain baby. Like we say down south, those greens will make you slap your mama. Time to go to sleep
I'm eating the food not the tiny eat in location or the fact that they aren't open enough during the week.
The food was awesome. Its made fresh and if youre in a rush is advise you to order ahead of time.
The prices are a bit on the high side but the foods worth it. if You're not trying to feed a bunch a ppl off one plate you'll be satisfied. Portions are kind of small but again the foods worth it
The food is so amazing! Wow the Collard Greens are mind blowing! Everything is so delicious! I can't wait to come back! What's even better is that my kids who are picky eaters love the food too!😍😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤❤❤🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯😘😘😘😘😘 …
Actually my favorite place to eat in Cambridge. The chicken and waffles is crazy good. I've never had better fried chicken. Their plates are mmm and their sides are yummy. Plus, they deliver!
I'm from the South and I was needing some fried catfish.
Not the Southern food I was expecting.
The fried catfish is expensive for what you get (one filet instead of two) and it's not battered with a light & crunchy corn meal dry batter like in the South.
Also, the cornbread isn't a true cornbread and is essentially a yellow and sticky cake.
I'm not sure how people up north cook "soul food" but it must not be the traditional southern way
Food to die for, and they cater too!
Tony, his wife Jasmine, and their crew can cook like no other! Their food is so good that we had them cater our 25th anniversary party, and I can tell you that our friends and family still talk about how fabulous the food was.
My only problem is that every once in a while, we have a hankering for their fried chicken or ribs, set out to go pick up some, and then remember that they're closed Sunday-Tuesday. After I shout "NOOOOO!" I remind myself that they HAVE to rest sometime.
It was a one hour walk from my apartment to Cambridge, and a one hour walk back. Nevertheless it was definitely worth it. Best chicken, hands down. I ended up getting 3 sides but I should've got some corn muffins as well.
The chicken and waffles is great... will put u in a food coma 😁😁😁 …
Chicken was immaculate, crispy and not dry. Seasoned mad well. Cornbread was also banger. I don’t usually rate but i had to for this one!
Eat here. Seriously. Just do it. The food is phenomenal, the staff are super friendly. Call ahead if you have time restraints. This fried chicken made me want to call my mother!
Great variety, excellent quality. I have gotten it for myself and had large events catered. It's bbq, so not fancy, but they do a good job. They're friendly and fairly well located in Cambridge.
Incredible chicken, the waffles are good too. Very small seating area, so perhaps plan to have it to go.
First time here, but definitely not the last! I have been searching for the perfect spot to grab all my soul food favorites and this place has it all!! Well worth the trip everything was seasoned and cooked fresh.
Love this cozy, delicious local nook. Best fried chicken anywhere, but everything in the menu is solid! I almost don't want other people to know about it.
Best potato salad EVER, great E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g! Can go wrong with anything u order from here. We live in the South Shore and drive here just for their food at lesdt 3x a month!
Ordered the chicken n waffles with a small mac and cheese. Everything was exceptional. You can tell it's family owned great atmosphere
Incredible gem! Had the thigh plate, and it was perfectly crispy and tender. Definitely call ahead to order, gets busy and everything is made to order.
The food was so good, had the fish and collard greens and mac and cheese. It reminded me of home cooking food. This place is a gem and great customer service
Great place for take-out fried chicken. Waited in line for 1 hour my first time and the wait was worth it. Called ahead of time next and the chicken was so-so. Hence, dont call too far in advance to get the best.
This little cafe has phenomenal food and a very friendly staff. Love that it's family-owned, which comes through with every delicious mouthful. I highly recommend this place.
The hidden gem of Central Square. Food is so cheap and so good. Call in your food, head over to pick it up, bring cash. Those are really the only three steps you need to know. There's no parking, but you can put your hazards on up front or pull into one of the side neighborhood streets for a few. 50 cents for cornbread? Count me in.
Intown for work and I want some Food good for the soul! I walked 2miles from Back Bay area. It was def worth the walk. When I saw the cook cutting up fresh greens.. I know I was at the right place!!
This is the spot..way better than any soul food joint I've been in the Boston area. I'm a big eater and I couldn't finish the plate..
Delicious food awesome people!
Great fried chicken and ribs, incredible Mac and cheese, and the best corn bread I have ever had!
Love the collard greens! Always order them when I go. And my daughter loves the beef patties!
Yummy..yummy..great fried chicken..yams..mac n cheese..the best around will def be back here!!
They have very good service. Their staff were very accommodating. It feels so comfortable to eat here with their good selection of appetising dishes.
random tiny little southern comfort food spot in cambridgeport. cheap, fresh, big portions, simple delicious southern food. fried chick, collard greens, candied sweet potato, corn bread.
Food was excellent! Chicken and waffles, mac and cheese, yams, SP pie...all good. OMG the cornbread!
GREAT food. Weird hours. Very frendly. My favorite meal is the smothered pork chops with sweat potatoes and collard greens.
Great food, enough said. Only downside is they always run out of sweet potato pie.
The food was outstanding. Best fried chicken I've had in MA.
Very covid cautious, excellent food 10/10 would recommend. The food really hit just right.
Great food, I recommend calling in your order. The food never disappoints, extremely delicious.
This place was amazing. I'm glad I found it. The fried chicken was delicious and the macaroni was out of this world.
Honestly I love this place, the fried Chicken may take a little while but it's well worth it.
Awesome food, even better people. Vacationing from IL and found this place near where we were staying- so glad we stopped by!
Great fried chicken. Just a small handful of seats inside. Do yourself a favor and order ahead.
Excellent customer service and the best quality of food and seasoned just right and desserts are mmm delicious 😋 …
I love it here, it's the Mac n cheese, the yams and the collard greens for me.
Awesome costumer service food is fresh and it’s not bland
Wonderful hole in the wall for great comfort food. Just trust that this place will be able to do your favorites justice!
Food is so good just like my great aunt used to make it brings back memories
Food here is okay. But nothing close to real southern fried chicken
Amazing bbq...every side was delicious. I give this small joint 5 stars because it was amazing!!
Fried chicken was awesome. Potato salad with egg, so good.
Hey tony X here the man who has been going since a young boy your food is to die for and thank you so much for everything I have great memories of your food and when I go it is still amazing thank you so much for this experience in my life
This hole in the wall soul food restaurant is unbelievable. All the staples you'd expect from a place serving this kind of food. Do it. Do it now!
The best fried chicken in the Boston area. The mac and cheese is also fantastic.
Cooked fresh, filling, and the closest to the delicious home-cooked soul food from my native St. Louis that I've found in Boston
Very quaint soul food joint.
***EXPERT TIP***
Call ahead your order for expedited food if you're in a hurry.
Amazing food...best fried chicken you'll ever have.
Service was Excellent, food was filling.
Desert was wonderful.
I would recommend it to others
Great Experience !!!
Came from Boston to try Coast Cafe & they did not disappoint. Will definitely be back!
Amazing food, great people working there. Will definitely be back!!
Picked up meals for my whole household and everybody was raving about how delicious it was!
A hole in the wall with phenomenal southern food. Definitely not a place to bring a date but great for takeout!
Re opening July 13th!!! Hell yea!
Phenomenal-best southern food in Boston. Just wish it were open a little more often.
Good good good cooked from the soul. Beautiful family that takes good care of its community. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
Other than being closed all the time. They have one of the best soul food available in Cambridge.
Always great, best chicken in the Boston area
Great fried chicken. Perfect place for some take out dinner.
Sweet potato pie, mac and cheese, and the chicken are all super good
my god the southern food here. this is the real deal. fried chicken... ridic. fried fish... ridic.
So good! Soul food! The empanadas and the fried chicken are out of this world!
Awesome soul food. Nice service
