Reviews of Max’s Deli Cafe
The eggs were okay and the breakfast potatoes were overly seasoned but the coffee was hot and fresh! A nice little, out of the way, corner deli, with a few small tables or you can take your order to go. Next time I'm in the area, I'll stop by again.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Easy to find and worthwhile stop. Interesting variety of sandwiches and good eats.
Got the hot pastrami on marbled-rye w/mustard, a diet coke and small bag of chips = $21 and change. A little expensive, but the Pastrami melted in your mouth! The rye was properly toasted and crispy and held up well. Recommend the sandwich but get it to go with your own chips and drink.
Service was fast and friendly, however.
Our BEST breakfast while visiting Boston. Delish food at reasonable prices. Loved the French toast. Owners even stopped by our table TWICE. It just has a “good feel”. Great location near freedom trail.
Really great Breakfast in Boston. Open early. I ordered the Meat and Eggs. Friendly people.
I love this place - growing up in Chicago, it feels like a city cafe - not like Starbucks or other corporate entities. Their food is better than anything you’ll get at those places too. Love their breakfast wrap - add grilled veggies for a healthy addition. Great salads and wraps as well. Worth every dollar. Also, everyone is so friendly here - makes my day every time I go! =)
What a phenomenal “taste of Boston” place. We were visiting a nearby hotel and a staff member recommended it. Phenomenal breakfast and sandwiches for travel, authentic working class clientele, kind and helpful staff, and the food is tasty and substantial. Don’t miss it.
A great place to grab a breakfast to go or sit for a bit. The omelets were superb!
Good portions and prices for our breakfast. Lots of local construction workers were there at the same time as we were - which usually is a good sign of a good restaurant.
This deli has great wraps and a good selection of beverages. Even better is their breakfast menu which is affordable and extremely filling. I had the buffalo chicken wrap once and an omelette breakfast another time. Both were flavorful and enjoyable although, I wouldn't say excellent. I'll still give it a 5 star rating because it's great for the price. Both entrees were below $10.
The people are nice and they feature a lot of sandwiches and wraps. There are tables, once you order grab a table they'll bring it over. Lunch averages $12.00 with a drink.
Excellent breakfast. Fast service. And the price was right. Highly recommend.
Max's is a local staple. Excellent breakfast and lunch options. Food is always on point and the staff are very friendly!!
Great sandwiches. Pricey but worth it.
Awesome basic breakfast. I got a bunch of food for the price I paid and it was well made. An omlette with potatoes and bacon and toast for 8$ in downtown Boston, can't ask for anything better
We stopped in here hungry off the plane from Phoenix. Breakfast was VERY good, staff was attentive and informative. Food was served quick and hot.
Great, no frills breakfast. Authentic American cafe well frequented by local trades and business people.
This is a good place for delicious sandwiches, be they breakfast or otherwise, with great staff, reasonable prices, and a friendly atmosphere. This isn't a fancy place or big sit-down restaurant. But there are tables, with plenty of people using them every time I've been, so dining in is a real option.
Both times I've been here are when visiting from out of town, but I would happily frequent this place for lunch if I lived here, or if they were in my hometown. While there isn't anything particularly amazing about this place or the food, it is absolutely worth a stop for their huge omelet selection and fantastic sandwiches- everything I've had and tried has been something I'd be happy to eat.
This is a great place for sandwiches, hot or cold. I was there last week and hang an overstuffed BLT that was excellent. Crispy bacon but not burnt, fresh lettuce and tomatoes on rye toast, yum!! They have good wraps too!!!
Came in 10 minutes after they stopped serving breakfast but they offered to make us Breakfast sandwiches. We got the classic with bacon on a croissant and they were delicious! Good price too. Diner feel with some tables to eat at.
Great place for a fast and inexpensive breakfast in downtown Boston. They also have a lunch menu
Love this place! Come here for breakfast every time I'm back in Boston.
Busy sandwich shop and deli that does a huge rush of business at lunch time, primarily takeout but they do have tables. I thought their jambalaya was delicious and filling, especially for the price. Service was fast even with the place packed.
This my first time at this deli so I choose to go with one of the specials listed on the board. My coworker ordered his sandwich on marble rye which sounded good so I asked for the same too my suprise to discover I was given a white roll. The sandwich was still excellent and I would understand the mistake if it was busy but we were the ones in there at the time. Would be 5 stars without the wrong beard.
Quick and very good thanksgiving and Italian subs!
When my boss and I are in town, this is our go-to place for breakfast. Can't go wrong with an egg, bacon, and cheese bagel sandwich. Service is always fast, and if you get a seat by the window, you might even get the added bonus of being entertained by watching somebody try to parallel park in one of the tiny spaces just outside.
food here is great - service however is deplorable. I have never felt so unwelcome anywhere as I do here. If you want good food but could care less if you're treated as though you are interrupting staff's day then by all means go on in.. I literally left this morning feeling uncomfortable & baffled by the experience. I have been in the service industry for years, never have I had such a bad day that I did not greet a guest or at least fake a "have a good day". It's not the first time this is happened but will be my last. Unacceptable.
Breakfast was very good. Had a lot of choices. Couldn't have been better.
Go to sandwich shop in the Financial District. Step up to the counter and choose from all the varieties of bread on display, pick your fillings, toppings, and slide in down to the register. It's that easy. Lots of seating for those with some time and an abundance of staff means your order will be prepared and I your hands fast. Specials rotate daily so check the board that day.
Really fresh and good food. The staff were so nice and helpful.
Friendly, fast, affordable and tasty! First visit and got a breakfast sandwich (egg, bacon on English) and it was perfect. Even had decaf coffee ready at 6:30. I'll be back.
Best shop to get coffee, breakfast and a start to your day! Family owned shop, they make everything in house, get the cheddar biscuits they are insane! Great grab and go options and hot breakfast in minutes, all home made.
Nice little breakfast place in Boston, good food and friendly staff
They called me on day offering a tasting for my office. I am so glad they called because they have become one of the company's favorite catering companies. They always arrive on time, the food is DELICIOUS, the people that take my orders are very friendly, the variety in their catering menu is huge, and (one of the most important to me) they are very sensitive to allergy requests. I highly recommend ordering stuff from them or going to the cafe to try their food.
Love Max's! Great food options, very friendly staff and the prices are very reasonable for their location in Boston. Haven't tried anything I don't like....but the Salmon dinner with garlic mashed potatoes with a side salad is my fav!
The service is good. The food is delicious and always fresh mo matter what I order. Its always full for breakfast. There are daily specials. Too bad I don't have reaaon to cater because I'd definitely call them!
It's hard for someone new to find somewhere to take someone for a basic sit down breakfast in downtown Boston. Most places are geared up for food on the go. This place is basic but it's good value and close to my office.
Great service and good portions. I wasn't a fan of the sandwich I ordered, so I got a salad instead. The meal deals are well priced.
Best Jewish deli I've found in Boston. NY style corned beef on rye was delicious! I prefer pastrami, but I don't typically like Boston style. Will try the pastrami though next time.
Great bagels. Custom made to your request. Range of Boston style coffee (all drip) and friendly service
Friendly with a homey atmosphere. They retrieved a big cookie out of the back for me.
Pretty good, fresh food. They're clearly focused on catering, but it can be a tasty spot to drop by for breakfast or lunch. Good portions.
Affordable breakfast options. Lunch can get expensive. The Salads while not very diverse are massive and a decent deal. The Sandwiches are big but very expensive.
Food is decent but a little overpriced IMO, $12.50 for a chicken salad sandwich
Good prices and thickly made sandwiches.
A large variety of food.
The staff is friendly and accomodating.
Lastly, much care is taken to keep the area clean and the food sanitary.
I had two omelettes from here back to back days. The staff was friendly, prices were pretty good and the food was very good. I would certainly come here again.
Great busy Deli with awesome food at a reasonable price. Very old school with the managers desk/office area inside the cafe - friendly staff who are busy but still time to be courteous.
Fast, affordable, delicious with great friendly service to boot!
Pulled pork on a bun with coleslaw and cheese! SO good and the man working there was super nice and let us try the brisket that cooks alllll daaaaaaaaaaay long!
Great little eatery, awesome place for breakfast if you are near by or staying at the Hilton. It's right down the road!
Quick service and friendly staff. I usually grab food from here on the go, but there is also a decent amount of seating space.
Great basic breakfast. Lots of food for the cost.
Good breakfast food. Very fast and affordable. Only breakfast available until 11 though.
If you are in boston and want breakfast it's a must. Great home fries.
Breakfast, breakfast, breakfast! Good food but lots of hustle and bustle. Not the spot to leisurely browse through that morning's Globe.
Best cornedbeef in the area. Never disappointed with their breakfast either.
Great as far as downtown deli's go. Good food for a moderate price.
Great inexpensive breakfast. Great for on the go. Several tables also available
Excellent breakfast with real home fried potatoes.
Food is ok. A little on the expensive side. The baked scrod plate is decent
Great food at a good price. I would recommend to everyone.
Best bacon egg and cheese ive ever had. Get it on a croissant, it is lights out
Breakfasts here are pretty basic but good. Portion sizes are solid.
Good pastrami and breakfasts prices are okay but not great
I have been here a couple of times and have enjoyed the food here. The staff are nice.
Good food, decently fast service, busy little deli.
Great portions, good price, and even better employees!
My experience at Maxx's Deli was awesome, the food was fresh and very good
The gumbo is amazing and their staff is great.
AWESOME. Food was great and you get a lot of bag for your buck.
