I just moved to an older house that needed renovation and maintenance. Being that I was new to the area, I had to rely on user reviews to find a company for the projects. Based on the high-ranking reviews, I decided to go with Vermont Renovation and Remodeling. The other reviews proved accurate! Bill couldn't have been more efficient, friendly and professional. His rates were reasonable and I really appreciated his timely communication regarding project updates and when he'd be at the house. I find it amazing he knows how to do everything including replacing an old AC unit built into the all-wood wall with a new window (and it's so helpful he's got the business contacts such as a window supplier.) He's even going to cut out a matching window on the other side of the big picture window so I have even more views of the osprey nest nearby. I can't wait! I wouldn't go with anyone else in the future. Pics from inside and outside the location of new windows. Will update when new windows are in. **Update 8/23/22** New windows are in and look fantastic! I was worried about putting more holes in my house but I couldn't be happier with how they look and work. We had to wait for the window supplier to provide the windows but...then Bill was able to install them in one day! I will always go to Bill first for any remodeling and renovation projects.

Replaced the windows and front door in my home and they did a great job! They went through the trouble of sourcing and color matching new window trim when the stuff pulled off the old windows was the wrong size, and also replaced some siding that they damaged, so points for taking responsibility! It took almost a whole working day per window to replace each one, and while I saw opportunities where the job MAY have been able to be done faster, I much prefer a job is done right, not done fast.

Bill helped me with many different projects through out my home. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to do the work correctly the fist time and will not guess. He is honest and will tell you if he does not know something but will search and get the answers. Some of the repairs were big but at the end, they were like brand new. We've had Bill help us with several small jobs around the house, and most recently he powerwashed and painted all of the trim on the house, plus the porch. The quality of his workmanship was excellent and he got the job done in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable cost. We needed our screen porch doors repaired and some banisters installed and caulking of crown moulding. Bill is prompt, polite, and a good sense of humor. He is very conscientious and always asks if he did what we asked for. He is first handyman who worked with us and for us that did great work. Everything was done very well. We recently had a mold and water issue stemming from a poorly done bathroom job installed by our home's previous owners. Bill did a great job removing the rotten wood, pulling and resetting tiles, and generally waterproofing the area so that we don't end up with a larger mold/rot issue down the road. As many other reviewers have stated, Bill was very honest and forthright about the work. I am sure I will be calling him again for future projects.

Colchester Handyman is the kind of handyman service you want to keep to yourself. However, it'd hardly be fair not to share and promote such a good guy and his good work. Bill is timely and conscientiousness which seems to be hard to find these days. He also pays great attention to detail with every task that he does and he communicates the process along the way. He did a few scheduled tasks for us and even one very unschedule task for us while here for another repair. We had him out to install a couple bathroom exhaust fans as well as several drywall repairs. While he was here we explained how much of a draft that was coming from our sliding door. He examined it and repaired it on the spot. He pulled the trimwork to apply better insulation and a better ceil around the door. It made world of difference for us this winter. He was very meticulous with every task and he took the time to make sure the job was done right even if it meant that he had to fix something else that was in the way to make it right. We are very satisfied with everything he's done for us. We have already scheduled more jobs with Bill this summer because of this. We highly recommend and will continued to use him in the future.

I hired Bill to replace some rotten siding and trim, as well as to touch up some exterior paint. His quote was reasonable, and his reviews were good so we took a chance. I'm glad we did. Bill showed up every day until the job was done, did good work, and cleaned up after himself. As he got into the job, he identified additional areas in need of repair and I found a few other things for him to fix while he was at our house. Throughout the whole process he was flexible, professional, and reasonably priced. There are some shady people offering "handyman" services, thankfully Bill is just a normal guy. I had no problem allowing him access to my house while I was not home and I would have no problem if my wife was home while Bill was there. We will be hiring Bill again.

We're new to Vermont -- been here 3 weeks. Bill was so helpful with fixing things the movers broke, putting our electronic need together, and helping get the TV systems going. Then he helped us move boxes down to the storage unit and reorganize it. He did everything with a positive attitude and so we gave him a special project of creating a book case made of all of the books I can’t take to my office this time because it’s too small and I didn’t want to part with them. Can’t wait to upload pictures of his creative work!

Bill is a great guy and a consummate professional who can seemingly do just about anything. He expertly performed a ton of small projects in my new apartment, including: beautifully concealing the endless wires and chords that come with modern-day electronics; connecting a sound bar to my tv; repairing and painting damaged walls; assembling furniture; installing curtain rods and hanging curtains; hanging mirrors; and fixing my desk chair so that the arms are level and the chair slides seamlessly beneath the desk (which also required him to raise the height of the desk legs). He is extremely knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly, and his rate is more than reasonable. Should I need his services again, I will definitely be calling him.

The satisfying whoosh that my new door makes tells me I am no longer throwing away money on a drafty door, all thanks to Bill! I live in a drafty farmhouse as many people in Vermont do, and my old door was little more than a nuisance for cold air as it streamed into my house. Along comes Bill, helpful, knowledgeable, punctual, and reasonably priced to help fix my problem. By the end of the day, I had a fantastic near air tight door complete with a beautiful storm door for added heat savings! Don't think for one minute it was a straight-forward job. Nothing in my house is square or level, and there were surprises abound when he extricated my old door. But Bill used a combination of know-how, imagination, and ingenuity to make it fit perfectly and look great! I can't recommend him highly enough, because not only is he extremely capable, he's also an all around great person to work with!

Had some water damage to a single floor board by my sliding glass door. No one in St. Albans would come look and replace the board. Bill responded quickly, came by and gave us a quote. Little did we know, this floor board turned out to be a much larger problem. The sliding door had been leaking and growing mold since it was installed 3 years ago! Simple board replacement ended up being new french doors and flooring. Bill did a great job and will hiring again for other projects.

I feel so fortunate to have discovered Bill Wolkenfuss as my new and accessible "handy person." Because it is SO hard to find and schedule someone honest, able and young/energetic, I almost hesitate to post this review. Don't steal him, anyone! What has he been doing for me in the last 2 weeks?: removing an old TV and installing/mounting/setting up 2 new systems with necessary accessories. In addition, his youthful knowledge has been so useful in advising me what components to buy, what they should have to be "smart" etc. I also have him lined up to take care of new part installations for other household problems: closet, small plumbing and lighting questions.

Bill installed a bathroom mirror cabinet and the project went very well. There were some complications with a vent pipe in the wall and he had a good solution for it. He cleaned the space when he was finished and everything looked great.
