I highly recommend RK Subaru, and especially David Fanning, Sales Consultant. During Hurricane Ian, a tree fell and totaled my Subaru Outback. A friend recommended RK, so I drove 1.5 hours from Elizabeth City, NC to Virginia Beach, Va. It was worth the drive. David was extremely helpful, but not pushy. He was the only one who found similar vehicles to test drive and look at for interior options (if you haven't car shopped lately, there is no inventory to test drive). I went to other dealerships, and they did not have anything for me to drive and kept me there longer than I wanted trying to "sell" me something.
I narrowed my decision to a Legacy and a Cross trek. I contacted David and he had the vehicles ready for me once again to test drive, along with pricing info and availability. I had to start a build, but once I did, David was able to search and notified me a few days later that he found exactly what I wanted and could get it in weeks -vs- months for the build.
My insurance only covered a rental for 3 weeks and then I would have to pay out of pocket. David and his team worked diligently and were able to get my new Legacy to their dealership and ready for me to pick up the day after I had to turn in my rental. Timing was perfect! David knew how stressed I was over this entire situation (also dealing with multiple damage to my home from the tree). He made this buying process easy, fast, and overall stress free.

My wife and I came to RK Subaru a few weeks ago just to test drive a cross trek for me. We had the pleasure of being greeted and helped by Cal. We made it known that we were not prepared to make any decisions or purchases that day and Cal respected that and was never pushy. & that interaction made a world of difference.
It went from only me trading my car in for a new Subaru to my wife also making the decision to do so as well. We will both be Subaru owners for life.
I seriously can’t say enough great things about Cal and how awesome he made the whole experience. I feel like we gained a friend. And to RK Subaru for having the car delivered earlier than anticipated and making the whole experience seamless!

My experience with RK Subaru is one of the smoothest and fastest transaction I have ever had with a dealership. Kudos to the RK team, especially to our salesman, Mr. Cal Green. The first day that we've stepped into their shop, he is very pleasant. He was never pushy to us, which I really like especially when we're trying to buy something that needs a thorough decision making. He is very accomodating.

I was looking for a new car and wanted a Subaru Outback. I walked in to RK Subaru and was greeted by Jason Credle, and told him what I was looking for. I put a deposit down on an Outback Onyx edition. There was an issue from the manufacturer regarding a computer part that needed installed so I couldn't pick up the car when it arrived. After a few weeks, Jason called me and told me it was ready. When I arrived to pick it up he and the finance manager Johnathon were very professional and extremely nice people to work with. I am very happy with my car and couldn't thank Jason and Johnathon enough. Anyone who is working with these gentlemen on a car purchase is in for a treat.

A hassle free experience when it came to getting a new car. I custom ordered a 2022 Legacy back in october and could not be more impressed with the vehicle and the staff at this dealership. David F. and Heather E. who helped me with test drives and setting everything up, as well as Justin in finance, were a complete joy to work with. They all had immense patience whenever there was a small bump on my end. Any question or concern I had was addressed and without any issue. For anyone looking for a Subaru, I would highly HIGHLY recommend going to see David Fanning at RK Subaru on VB Blvd. When I was looking for my car, my boyfriend (now fiancé) and I met David. We were impressed with him once we met him and sat down with him. I told him I wasn’t buying anything, just looking at the time and he didn’t press. He kept checking in to see how everything was going with my car and just so happened to keep me in mind when the EXACT car I was looking for became available. Once it did, he was SO excited for me that he called and told me the news so I could put my payment down to hold it. Loved the experience there and especially with David as my salesman. He also sent me a little card congratulating us on our engagement as my fiancé proposed like a week after I got my new car.
My moms car recently died and she was in the market for a Subaru and so I knew exactly who to contact. I messaged David and we went in the next day to look at the inventory. We got there and he showed my mom what was available and showed her a car that was exactly what she wanted, minus one thing, but he said they could add that no problem. So we went in and my mom was approved and she ended up driving away with her car that night. Spent 4.5 hours in the dealership, BUT with David there, we just talked forever and it didn’t even feel like it was that long. We had a blast and I knew my mom was in good hands. I’m about to send my grandparents over to him as well as they are also in the market for a new car and David is the one I trust with my family and their cars. Again, 100/10 recommending David for all your car needs!! He will become like a part of your family.

He answered all of our questions appropriately. Very helpful guy. He also texts us and keeps in contact to make sure everything is going smoothly. I would also like to mention Deangelo Bolden, who does the finalizing paperwork, and Nick Wilson, the General Sales Manager. Both gentlemen were also very polite and helpful with the car-buying experience. All in all, our experience at RK Subaru was very pleasant and efficient.

I had a great experience here. I just moved into the area, and needed an affordable car asap for work. I get it, with shipping and supply challenges, it would be very difficult to meet those needs. Went to a few dealerships that day, but couldn't find the stock or anyone willing to work with me in anyway shape, or form.
Here, however, David and the management team really pulled through. Not only were they able to find an affordable car in a timely manner, they were able to get my car of preference.
Their follow-on service was consistent, as well. They checked in and continued to personable and professional.

I had a service appt today for my scheduled Maintenance plan appointment on my 2017 Subaru Outback purchased from RK Subaru.
Gabrielle my service writer was awesome and a welcome sight and has a great demeanor and happy positive attitude.
Overall the appointment went well, I was advised that I will need front breaks probably before my 2/22 inspection (understood and noted) AND that I need an engine air filter.
Here is what drives me and I am sure other RK Subaru customers crazy and scratching our heads as “why”?
This by far is not my first oil change at a dealer or anywhere else. I appreciate advising me that the engine air filter should be changed and showing me as I sit in the customer lounge how dirty it is and the recomendation for it to be changed. (like mine, enclosed picture)
It is an easy and cheap fix for me to do on my day off for $13 From Napa vs the $34 Subaru quoted.
This is not the issue!!!!
The issue and cause/reason for this email….. Why would the technician (Dennis James) replace the engine air filter back in to the air filter compartment WITH THE LEAF still in the engine air filter?!? I would think a quick pat to the side above a garbage can to remove it would be the least one could do, RK Subaru went into the engine and removed it, why put back the dirty engine air filter, specially with the leaf loosely sitting in the air filter , is this a jab at the customer (me) for not spending 3x the amount with RK Subaru? Thats what it feels like to me.
Again I appreciate RK Subaru but putting back the engine air filter with the leaf still in it is lazy and does not show good workmanship and attention to details and questions what other corners are cut by your service team (well I question it) Knowing I will need breaks before 2/22 makes me think to look other then RK Subaru for this service.

I've had my car for just about 2 wks and he has kept in contact, making sure I'm completely satisfied and it has made all the difference. I have taken way too long to write this review, but my leasing experience here has been wonderful. John C. was especially helpful and explained everything in a way that made sense (and was patient with the fact that I know nothing about cars). The car came faster than I thought it would which was amazing. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Everyone I've talked to at this dealership was super nice throughout the leasing process.

This has got to be the best dealership I have been too. The sales staff are friendly and aren’t pushy. My salesman was Cal Green. This is my second Subaru I have bought from him and he is very down to earth and honest with his customers. Nick, who is the finance manager is awesome as well as he will actually come out and talk to you about certain numbers without trying to force you into a sale. The other person I want to give credit to is D’Angelo, the warranty salesman. Although I didn’t get my warranty with my new car this time like before, he wasn’t pushy and didn’t try to force my hand. Another thing I like about Cal Green is that he took the time to teach me the basics of driving my first manual car off the lot. I will definitely be back to get my wife her first Subaru in the coming year.

RK Automotive in Virginia Beach, VA truly set the “Gold Standard” for car dealerships!! I have to agree with other posts that, “ I can’t say enough good things about my experience with this dealership.” It will change your opinion about car dealerships! I had only limited exposure to a Subaru years ago - it wasn’t comfortable and I knew very little about them. Cash was absolutely wonderful to work with. Definitely made you feel like family. He wasn’t pushy, incredibly informative, and helped us find options that not only worked for us but also made us happy about the purchase. I started my process of purchasing a Subaru over a year ago. I live on the peninsula, so had many resources from other Subaru dealers to Carmax. Some of the contacts I made were genuine, and others, suspect. Until the day I found RK Subaru in Virginia Beach, and Cash, my new friend and salesman. With no intention of buying a car on the other side of the water....well the story ends there. We exchanged info, my Subaru dreams, and I am the proud owner of a beautiful Crosstrek today. Funny aside...since Cash and I were only speaking via phone, and text messages, I did not know what he looked like. When I finally went to pick up my car, his face did not match his voice Ha Ha....he was so much better in person. To the whole team at RK, and all the dog lovers, I applaud you!! Thank you for the way you made me feel!!! The bow on my car brought tears to my day that full of happiness.

At 75 years of age I had to shop alone for a car for the very first time. An acquaintance recommended that I contact Cal Jackson-Green at RKSubaru. Cal (Cash) was wonderful! This was the best car buying experience ever! First, a HUGE thank you to Charlie, our salesman, for not making us feel like just another sale. He spent a lot of time on our first "drive thru and look visit" talking about the Subaru we wanted from front to back and inside to outside. He was like a person you've known for years. He answered, and probably re-answered, all of the questions we had without a miss. On the next drive thru, we spoke about the pricing and the reason they didn't have the "$5000" over invoice on their autos. He told us about the owners of RK being a part of the community understanding what is going on in the car business and wanting everyone to know it was still business as usual there. WOW! After those visits we decided to order our car from the factory, which is in Indiana by the way. We were told it would be about 3 months for the car to made and delivered. Charlie kept us posted throughout that time, even with some other than car friendly chit chat . Finally the day came, early too, we got the car. This was the day we got to spend some time with D'Angelo, in finance, and that will never be forgotten either. He is the best, funniest and nicest guy to take your money ever! In between that time Dwayne, sales manager and super nice man, came and introduced himself making sure we were unconditionally pleased with our service. Then the big moment arrived when we went home to get our daughter and introduce her to her new car, which we managed to keep a secret. When we got there after making up some stories for being there, there sat the car with a big red bow Charlie put on the hood. It took a few minutes before she realized that was her car. Charlie videoed and took pics of the whole event, smiling and laughing with our family moment. I could go on and on but will stop here saying, RK is one the BEST places you will ever purchase an auto from! Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart!

Not usually one to do reviews, but after my experience today, I felt it was appropriate. I took my 2002 WRX into service today for an oil change. RK called me and gave me some bad news. They found and issue (self-inflicted) and told me they couldn't continue. Totally understandable! When I went to pick my car up, I was sad about the condition of my motor. But after driving away from the service shop, I felt better just from the customer service. I was treated like I was buying a fully loaded Forester even after them knowing I basically wasn't going to have any work done. I will always be a Subaru owner just based off of reliability and performance. After today, I have another reason to be a Subaru owner for life. Thank you all at RK Subaru for the love you put into your cars and owners.

We came to RK Subaru a couple of weeks ago just to test drive a used Forester, with no plan in mind to purchase. We had the pleasure of meeting and getting to talk with Heather. She respected us, was very knowledgeable and was never pushy, which is what I most appreciated.
It went from test driving multiple cars from different dealerships to finally making an easy decision to get a new Subaru and do so with Heather. She definitely made the whole experience pretty easy and fun and kept us in the loop with everything to do with our car.

RK Subaru was above and beyond any dealership I’ve been to. I was afraid to branch out of Toyota brand vehicles and the staff at RK helped me understand all that I’ve been missing by not owning a Subaru. The technical knowledge of John Conrad and Cal Green was impressive. Given the parts and manufacturing issues around the world, they were still able to get me my vehicle within a reasonable and honest time frame and maintained incredible communication both before and after my purchase. Now that I’ve had my vehicle for a month, the handling of the AWD and the space and capacity of the Ascent is highly unmatched by any of the competitors. The option for the 10 year extended warranty is unheard of anywhere else other than Subaru and I love the fact that RK has their own maintenance facility and staff who are experts. I absolutely recommend RK Subaru to anyone looking for a versatile, safe and top rated brand of vehicle.

I can’t say enough positive things about my experience at RK Subaru. After a terrible experience at another dealership, I was so skeptical how this would end. With that said, Cal and the team at RK, made this the best car buying experience I’ve had to date. From the initial conversation to the financing, it was easy and painless. This Saturday was the SECOND time I have used this location to get a new vehicle and I always leave satisfied! I went to upgrade my vehicle to the new 2022 Ascent Onyx and requested for it to have everything I wanted. I will say that Mr. Fanning made sure to take care of us! He is very friendly and professional. He made sure to keep in contact with me about everything along the way. (my vehicle had to be ordered) He listened to all my concerns and made sure to get back to me in a timely manner. Mr. DeAngelo, the finance manager, was also very kind and professional. My husband and I went to two Priority dealerships before coming to RK Subaru. At the Priority Honda, the salesperson recommended that we buy a Nissan Rogue and at the Priority Toyota, our sales person left us unattended when he knew he had a sale and was looking for another "kill" while we sat at the dealership. The Camry we bought did not work for us as we preferred an SUV. We called several dealerships and we felt that sales manager, Chris Wilson was genuinely sincere in wanting to help us - Checkered Flag Toyota flatly told us there is nothing they can do for us. Upon our arrival at the RK Subaru, we were met by Heather Elliott. From the start, Heather was so different from the sales people at Priority. She was professional, patient, willing to work with us to meet our needs and always had a smile on her face. She searched the Subaru inventory to get the right vehiclefor us. She found the CrossTrek and she was in touch with us while waiting and gave us updates. The whole Team at RK Subaru was professional, accommodating and made us feel valued as customers. Duane, one of the managers, also took time to see us and ask how we were doing. We did not get this level of service at any of the Priority dealerships we went. We strongly recommend RK Subaru and Heather Elliott when buying a new or used vehicle. We will definitely be back when it's time for my husband to replace his Honda Pilot with a Subaru!

He spent over an hour with me, explaining the difference in models, the many features, and let me sit in one. He answered all my questions and was extremely patient and kind. That alone was impressive and unusual.
I visited some other dealers, drove some other vehicles, but I always kept coming back to how nice Anthony had been, and how wonderful the Forester had felt. By the time the Christmas sales ads came on TV, I knew what I wanted.
When I came back to RK Subaru, Anthony was busy at that moment, and I was help by Cal. What a kind and gentle soul. SO informative and patient. I asked to see a couple of different Foresters. Each time I asked questions, and Cal had the answer. I got a very reasonable quote. I came back the next day with my husband. We took the car for a few hours drive and he loved it too.
When we came back Anthony was there to help us complete our sale. He made sure I was set up on My Subaru and Starlink. He even called my insurance company for me. Every conceivable question I had was answered by him. Justin in finance also got us a great rate, and explained everything about the warranty. There was Never any strong arm tactics or running back and forth to get different managers. They always respected your intelligence.
When I took it home I enjoyed learning about all the new features. Cal reached out to me a few days later to ask if I had any questions. I love driving my new Forester.

My experience with RK Subaru all started with my son, a young inexperience car buyer who went to RK Used Auto Sales to look at a used 2013 Subaru after a hit n run driver caused his previous car to be totaled out. He’s excited to get another vehicle, and he ended up signing paperwork for “as is”. He didn’t realize at the time what this meant and when he finally received the car it was total disappointment. My son showed this car to a friend who was getting ready to go to RK to look at vehicle to buy. His friend quickly changed his mind about buying a vehicle from RK and ended up purchasing elsewhere. His friend couldn’t believe that this dealership would sell my son a vehicle that looked this bad. The car did have a Covid cleaning, but that was all. The battery looked like it could cause the car to not start and the overall appearance and price for what he had spent was not what I expected from RK. My first thought was that how much money he had spent on this vehicle. This made me very upset so I went to the dealership to talk to them about it. I was directed to Greg who explained that since he signed “as is” nothing else was legally required from them. But, Greg turned around the situation, understanding that my son was inexperienced in buying a car. Greg had the battery acid cleaned up, the engine pressure washed, the heavy oxidation removed from headlights, tried to get rid of scratches in back window and inside and out detailed, included two oil changes and a state inspection. I see why Greg is the General Manager, he understands the value of customer service and cares about the reputation of this company. Plus, since I had to wait while my sons car was being cleaned up Greg let me test drive a 2020 Outback so I wouldn’t have to wait at the dealership. When I returned to pick up my son’s car, Greg had his 2013 Subaru parked outside in front of the show room, it was a unexpected surprise. Because of Gregs actions of going above and beyond for customer service for my son and me I feel confident that I would highly still consider purchasing a new Subaru in the future from this dealership. My son is very happy with the outcome of his purchase and finally has his well deserved excitement of his car. I personally believe when a company sends out a vehicle in this shape that it hurts a business’s reputation. It should be mandatory or at least offered to the customer to have a complete cleaning and detailing of a vehicle for the sake of a company’s reputation of their business and for customer satisfaction. I only have 4 stars, because of the used sales department not giving my son any type of warranty included with the purchase price and selling the vehicle “as is”. If it wasn’t for Greg I would of gave 1 Star.

I can say that I had by far the best car buying experience in my life at RK Subaru. I initially went to RK Chevy to look at a vehicle and ended up asking Justin (the RK Chevy Rep) if I could look at the Legacy also. Despite being a Chevy Rep he got the keys, we went on a test ride and I was sold. He drew up the initial paperwork ordered the car and when I came to pick up the car and sign documents Subaru Steve got involved. The transition was too seamless to be real. Normally, we think of going to a car dealership as in incredible inconvenience to replacing a vehicle, which should be a pretty simple task. You’re swarmed by salesman like sharks in the ocean as soon as your feet hit the pavement, and you’re fed the typical nonsense about their “no haggle pricing” and how much they’re better than the other dealers. RK Subaru is a different experience because they prove it with their actions and customer service instead of a sales pitch. Our salesperson was Winndie Darrow, who helped my wife and I through navigating which vehicle would best suit our needs patiently and thoroughly. She didn’t push us to a more expensive vehicle or more options just for the sake of it - she took our wishes and satisfaction into account at every step of the process. She showed a level of professionalism and attention to detail that set that dealer experience apart from the dozens of others I’ve been to over the years. The finance and sales managers were also incredibly helpful and honest in their roles during the buying process and made sure paperwork took only the time it needed to. I’d highly recommend RK Subaru to anyone looking for a more refreshing and laid back car buying process.

I've only dealt with their parts department, but I love them. I usually hate dealerships, have had nothing but bad experiences with them my whole life. I do all of my own service and repairs on vehicles, so I usually shop online for parts because dealer prices are stupidly high most places. I like to use OEM parts in my Subaru's though, and RK is the first dealership I have found that doesn't have insane markups. Their OEM parts prices are usually competitive with what I can find online. Even if they don't have things in stock, I often order parts online to pick up from them and it still ends up being cheaper and faster than other sources. The parts guys are super friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that they are real Subaru enthusiasts. I'm glad to give them my business and wish more dealerships would follow their example.

Wes was awesome in showing me the Forester and Crosstrek I was looking at and explaining everything about them inside and out. Unlike another dealership I visited previously, I never felt pressured or like I was being talked down to for not understanding something. After finding out we we're already in a horrible auto lease situation. She didn't stop at any point. I do get service here however, and while it can be a little slow sometimes, the quality is high and the staff is both knowledgeable and friendly.

My husband and I went in today knowing exactly what brand new vehicle we wanted. We purchased a 2019 Forester Sport. We picked this dealership specifically because of there wide range of choices not only in color but style. Jasmine Brown was the car saleswomen that helped us from beginning to end. We communicated with her a week prior to going there. She is very on point. Let me tell you she knows her cars well. She even took the time to take pictures of every color they had and sent it to us so we didn't have to waste our time going all the way there and be disappointed with the lack of choices. I recently leased a 2019 Forester from RK with the help of Subaru Steve and I would absolutely recommend them for exceptional customer service and a low-key, no-hassle approach. It's always off-putting to walk onto a dealership and feel like they are trying to shove a contract down your throat right away. Alternatively, it's nonsensical to walk onto a dealership and have to flag someone down for assistance. RK and Subaru Steve were the perfect blend of a professional yet friendly and "family-like" environment. Subaru Steve is highly committed to and knowledgeable of the company and took as much time as was needed to go over all of my questions and concerns.
The follow-up correspondence has also been appreciated and not overbearing. The app features make keeping track of your "car's health" a breeze and to top it off, I love my Forester.

I knew within a few minutes that I was going to purchase my car on the spot from Cal, I have bought many new cars mostly Toyota‘s through my life, I was set on getting a Subaru because I was very thorough on what the best car, especially a midsize SUV. Subaru is always rated the best, in fact most of my family on the West Coast are all buying Subarus now, I actually had a better offer from another dealer for the same car but I decided after five minutes with Cal I was going to get it from him, he isn’t your typical car sales person and I’ve experienced many of them, there was no pressure even though I got there at closing and spent the next three hours and drove off with my new Subaru premium 2.5 SUV. I love the car and more than that not just Cal but each of the individuals and manager that I talked to, even the finance person were great, I actually went up in price for a slightly better car and even bought the extra insurance which I know never to do from experience of all I have read over the last 50 years. She did not try to convince me to get the extra insurance but made it easy to understand it would be important with today’s vehicles especially the electronics and the reasonable cost if anything goes wrong over a seven year period. Again I want to thank Cal for his expert and polite service and helping me to buy my first Subaru

I had a bit of a frustrating experience. I dropped my car off on a Wednesday for some warranty issues. I was told at drop off, which took over an hour between dropping off and getting rental car, that it would likely be there through Thursday, but that I would get a call end of day Wednesday. I didn't get a call until Thursday after 5pm. Was told I would get another call by Saturday, I never received a call. I called Monday morning, got bounced around several times and then they had to take a message. I received a prompt call back and later that day my car was ready. When I got home I realized I left my garage door opener. I called and was sent to an extension, I left a message. Tuesday afternoon, no call back, call again and leave a message. Finally get a call back from Amy. She says no garage door opener and that only she had access to the car if I dropped it under the awning, I explained it was left with the gentleman in service. She said she will speak with him and call me back. Never calls me back. Call service area on Thursday and the lady says they have it. Very poor communication with customers and with one another. Everyone with the exception of Amy was very friendly and I have received good service on my Subaru. But the communication issues are very frustrating. I'm glad I continued to follow up, so i do not need to up and program a new one.

I looked for a 3 row midsize SUV for over a year. I had my van for 16 years and was ready to move on. After waiting so long to buy a new car, I wanted to be sure I bought the right one for me. For about a year, I drove various models and in the end, came back to the 2021 Subaru Ascent. At RK Subaru, my husband and I were soon greeted by a nice gentlemen named Dwayne who, unlike so many other sales persons at other dealerships, knew his Subaru cars inside and out. As Greg started us out with the paper work, the three of us had a great conversation. It was like meeting a new freind. We picked up the car the next day and met Joshua, who was friendly and funny during the warranty service discussion. Later, I drove away in my beautiful blue new Subaru Ascent. Update: Doug, the manager, called and was extremely apologetic. After I explained that my car was making a new noise, he told me to bring it in at my earliest convenience so they could diagnosis the issue and put me in a loaner car for the time being. When I went today, Jordan was extremely helpful. John, the technician, rode with me to hear the noise and took my car in right away. They fixed the problem within 20 minutes and showed me exactly what the issue was (a simple missing bolt). We took one more drive before I left to make sure the car was no longer making the noise. John was very personable and took his time to explain what the issue was. I appreciated John and Jordan's hospitality and eagerness to fix the issue. I dropped off my car for service on Saturday and was told it would be ready on Monday. I asked if I could pick it up Wednesday and she said sure. Great. I go out there Wednesday to be told it’s not ready. They said they were waiting on parts. I understand many shipments are being delayed because of the current pandemic but a phone call updating me would have been nice, considering I don’t live close by. They told me they think it should definitely be ready by end of the day today (Thursday). I called and left several messages and just now (30 minutes before closing) got in contact with them for my car to still not be ready until tomorrow morning. When I was trying to confirm that it will actually be ready tomorrow and started to explain that I dropped it off nearly a week ago, she cut me off mid-sentence and told me it will be ready tomorrow. I found it to be rude. I wouldn’t have had an issue if someone just communicated to me that it was going to take longer than expected but I never received a single phone call. The communication at this facility is non-existent.

Cal was really great and helped us out from minute one get into the exact 2019 Forester Touring that I wanted. It was a great experience overall, but here are a few things they could possibly improve on:
1) If it is a special financing offer, it would be nice to know if that interest % changes once credit is approved before sitting in front of the contract hours later.
2) For the first time you get a loaner vehicle, you need a declarations page that you can fill out before you go which would avoid having to spend time back and forth with the auto insurance company
3) I had to call a couple times to make sure the DMV tags were ready for pickup, would appreciate a little better communication.

Came with a loved one to trade in a lease and purchase a new car. Lynn was very attentive and friendly throughout the 5 hour process. There was a decent amount of inventory for it being end of month and they were very open to showing us all available options. Finance process was painless and did not get a slimeball factor like I have with other auto dealerships.
Overall, great experience. Only recommendation: on Sundays it might not be best to trim down to half staff. This made the process a little less enjoyable and could have moved us along quicker. Other than that, each employee we encounter we fabulous.

I bought my first, and only other, Subaru 23 years ago and it was still running but a few things had begun to go wrong and needed repair and the interior was wearing out so it was about time to start thinking about a new car and, well, Subaru was the only choice for me. I had gone to another dealership but they didn't seem very eager to sell me a car because no one came out to greet me when I drove up but I stayed and did speak to a sales person but was very nonplused by him so then I went to RK and there I met Lynn Tichey. I initially was going to look at an Imprezza, the same model I had for the past 23 years and was very happy with but Lynn saw that I was walking with a cane so she recommended the Crosstrek because that way I wouldn't have to struggle to get up and out of the car, the seat is at a much more comfortable height where I can just turn around and sit into the car and she was right about that. I have a bad hip and degenerative arthritis in my low back and hips and the Crosstrek is much less stressful on me physically and Lynn knew that because she notices things about her customers and what they need, she's not just there to sell cars and make commissions. Now don't get me wrong, she's there to make a living but she looks out for her customers as well, you don't find that everywhere but I got the sense that that was more the rule than the exception at RK. I had occasion to visit RK several times, before and after the purchase and Lynn wasn't always available as she sometimes was with other customers but no matter who I dealt with the experience was always pleasant and left me feeling good that I had purchased from RK and Lynn. I am hoping when I need service that the service experience will be as satisfying. Overall I highly recommend Lynn if you are looking to purchase a Subaru, and I highly recommend a Subaru if you are looking to purchase a car and RK as your dealership. I am sure you will be as pleased as I have been with them all!!!

I bought a new Subaru Ascent and had a great experience with RK Subaru. First off, I had called to see if the Ascents were in so I could come and see them. Shantelle Hunter answered the phone and was so excited to show me the car. She immediately texted me some pictures of the car and took a picture of her business card. I came in and she was so welcoming. She started to show me the touring model but had to step away as she had a previous appointment already scheduled, so she had Hannah come and show me the other 2 cars on the lot pointing out the differences between the premium, limited and touring models. Both of them were so kind and welcoming. Shantelle gave me information on the cars and I went home to review all of the information. She called me a few days later and I scheduled an appointment with her for a test drive. She was so knowledgable about the car. She answered all of my questions and showed me all of the features. She knew that car inside and out!!!! She helped me pick out the exact car which ended up being the limited model. I asked about carplay and she had her "cord" with her and hooked up my phone to the car. That was so cool! I never felt pressured. The ascent was exactly what I wanted. I didn't purchase the car just yet. I wanted to think about it for a few more days. I called back a few days later and bought the car. Shantelle helped facilitate the car purchase before I got there as I didn't want to be stuck there for 4 hours closing on the car! Purchase was pretty fast and the car was all cleaned and ready for me. My experience with RK Subaru was excellent. Working with Shantelle was great. She is so personable and she listened to what I wanted. She was very patient with me when I was asking about the prices between the different models. I feel I can call her anytime if I have questions about the car. :)

Update: Had to take my car into RK for an airbag recall. Spoke with Doug about the issue. They admitted that they should have offered further testing to see exactly where the issue was coming from before telling me the part needed replacing. Unfortunately they wouldn't buy back the part, but they did offer to put the part in free of charge, which is about $400 of work. Since my car has 114,000 miles I figured it was a fair trade. They were very nice and did their best to make up for my trouble. Changed my review from 1 to 4 stars.
Disappointed. I took my car there to get an inspection and a tune up. They called and told me there were multiple problems with the car. Close to $5,000 estimate. I paid them around $1,300 to fix the more pressing problems and I'm wondering now if I was ripped off. They sent me with a list of things, including a power steering rack and pinion, which was very expensive. I decided to buy the part and check around for a better price. Well I found one and when I brought it in the very honest mechanic told me that it did not need to be replaced. Hopefully I am able to return the part I spent almost $400 on. I'm not sure you can trust a mechanic that is also working with people that want to sell you a new car.

I've never owned a Subaru but thanks to the recommendations from my brother and sister-in-law who've owned many Subarus, I decided an Impreza should be my next car. I've been researching Subarus, dealerships, and Imprezas since last fall and kept an eye on the inventory at RK. I've talked to many people who own various Subaru models and asked which dealer they'd recommend. Almost everyone said go to RK.
I finally decided which Impreza I wanted and last Friday I called and talked to Leander. He was so helpful on the phone when I asked what they were asking and also requested the dealer invoice price. Yesterday, I went in and I was amazed with the entire process. Leander and all of the staff I came in contact with were so nice. Leander educated me on all of the features and then we went on a test drive. I knew immediately that was my car.
The buying process couldn't have been easier. Their price and the trade-in they offered on my car was more than fair. I highly recommend RK Subaru and if you go in, be sure to ask for Leander.

I absolutely love the Subaru Service Department!! I started coming to them when another auto shop shorted out my entire electrical system in an attempt to install interior lighting. After they fried my system, they refused to fix it claiming that they "don't have the proper expertise". I took my 2013 Crosstrek to RK Subaru Service and not only did they completely fix my car, but the service manager (who unfortunately has moved) managed to make the auto shop not only pay for all of my repairs, but cover the cost of my rental for a week while my car was being repaired. Since then I have only gone through RK for any of my automotive needs, and even traded in my 2013 model for a brand new 2016 Crosstrek. The service managers are always more than happy to help me with any needs that may arise, as well as doing what they can to make sure I take advantage of any coupons or discounts that I am eligible for. I have been coming to RK for almost three years now and don't plan on going anywhere else.

10/17/2020 update: So 6 weeks later, I can say unequivocally that RK Subaru has not only done right by me, but they have restored my faith in the humanity of car dealerships. I was wrong, wrong, wrong about this shop when I questioned the work they had done for me to replace the recalled airbag and install the headlamp replacement. Lesson learned! Be careful when making uneducated assumptions. Trust your experts. That is why they are experts.

After 32 years, and seven new car purchases, Lynn (& RK Subaru) is the only person (and dealer) from whom I will purchase a new car. This is the second Subaru I have purchased from Lynn (my fourth Subie overall) and it was a terrific experience. She knew exactly what I was looking for and the entire process took less than 90 minutes. It is rare to find someone who is as knowledgeable, honest, and helpful as Lynn. I currently own two Crosstreks (I bought them for my kids) and will be purchasing a new Ascent from Lynn withing the next 12 months. There were other SUVs and cars I considered but I chose Subaru again in large part because of the folks that work at RK. P.S. The RK service center and body shop are stellar, they offer top of the line maintenance and repairs at extremely fair prices -- don't waste your time at other shops--even for tires because RK beats Treadquarters, etc. for quality, service, and cost. My 2008 Tribeca has 265,000 miles on it and it saved my life twice and my daughter's once. Thank you so much Doug, CJ, and Roger for a decade of superior maintenance & service. Suffice it to say I had a complicated situation regarding a relocation and the need to replace my current vehicle within a very short window of time. I visited 2 different dealerships in Virginia Beach and 2 dealerships in Tampa - and Hannah was by far the most outstanding sales associate I encountered from all 4 dealerships! She exhibited the most perfect blend of car shopping knowledge in general and Subaru knowledge in particular along with professionalism - all while being personable and so easy to work with. Had my 2004 subaru forester in for 4 new tires and an oil change. Needed the new tires due to a side wall bubble on the car and drove the car in with an almost new spare on and the damaged tire on the standard rim in the trunk. First, getting the new tires delayed because of the incorrect size being ordered. But the real reason for the 3 stars is that one of the 4 new tires was put onto the spare tire rim and the damaged tire was left on the standard alloy rim, leaving me with no good spare. Went to pick up the car and discovered this when I inspected the vehicle. Jordan was extremely helpful in correcting the situation, RK Subaru maintenancrle staff did make the situation correct, putting the new tire on the correct rim and replacing the discarded spare tire. While the situation was corrected with out any hassle, it still concerns me that their quality assurance processes may be broken for allowing the situation where a damaged tire was left on a standard rim and the spare tire rim getting the new tire. There wasn't an attempt to contact me to confirm that I wanted the new tire on the spare rim and left on the car instead of the standard rim. It is extremely obvious that the spare is installed vice the standard rim (standard rims are alloy spokes, the spare is a solid steel rim). It is concerning that something caught via a simple visual walk around is missed by the staff, both maintainers and supervisors. I appreciate that the situation was made correct, but I will be taking my Subaru to a different shop.

Ray was extremely courteous, and I was clear that I was not only not buying that day, but likely would not be buying from RK, since I don't live in the area. He got me a test drive with Roger, who was also very courteous and professional. The test drive was long enough to get a good feel for the car, and Roger introduced me to another salesman who's had a succession of Subrarus, and who walked me through the engineering of the car and the differences between the baseline WRX and STI. If I lived here, I would definitely work with RK first.

Leased a car from RK about a year ago. That transaction was fine enough, and the staff was helpful in setting us up a lease (but, then again, you'd expect professional salespeople to be good at this!)
A year later, the company RK underwrites their leases with – Chase Finance – failed to pay the Virginia DMV, and we're now driving around in an unregistered car.
I know RK isn't the company that actually underwrites the lease agreements they sell, but we've been repeatedly calling RK and leaving voicemails – trying to get them to maybe figure out why the leasing company they outsourced us to isn't doing their job and to help us out, since we're caught in a lurch. Zero replies.

"1st off, I love the car. I am very happy with how I was treated throughout the whole process. My salesman "Kris" delt with me over a weeks period as I pondered the decision. He made every effort to help me find exactly what I was looking for. At the end, they managed to get the car I wanted. Went to have just an inspection done. Service writer was pleasant and seemed genuine. Mechanic did his job for the inspection and was by the book. So service was all in all good. My only complaint was that this was a reinspection due to light bulbs thanks virginia for being slightly retarded...apparently I had to change my license plate bulbs....194 style bulbs which they charged almost 10 dollars for the bulbs. Definitely overpriced....by a lot then they also charged .4 of an hour to change them out to break that down that's 24 minutes to change 2 194 bulbs that I literally changed back to my old bulbs in 5 minutes when I got back home and I took my time. I feel they need to re-asses their job times. Feel a little ripped off.

I went to have a recall of the Takata passenger airbag completed and was told it would take 4 hours and I was dreading it but I stayed and waited and they did that recall plus the recall on my hood latch. I had a 9 am appointment and I was back in Hampton by 130 even with HRBT traffic, so I was out of RK long before 1 pm.
