Awesome experience at Checkered Flag Toyota! Beautiful place with large inventory but probably the best salesman ever! I highly recommend Daryl Trembay! From my first phone call about a used Toyota I saw on their website to handing me the key and taking my photo for me he was awesome! I came from out of town to purchase and he communicated through text for the few days before I arrived. He even offered to come into work early on one of the days he was not scheduled to accommodate my schedule. The testing of the car was not rushed in any way and he found answers to all my questions. The paperwork was done quickly, correctly and efficiently. I have already recommended Daryl and Checkered Flag to several of my friends. Many Thanks!

Easy car buying experience. We were looking for a lightly used 2022/23 Outback to replace a 2016 model that we were passing to our daughter. Ryan and his team did a great job. Did my research online, by my preference, we communicated via text, videos, and phone calls. Took my wife in to test drive. Inspected and test drove the car that morning. Yo! I purchased a 2005 Toyota RAV4 back in March this year from Checkered Flag and I have to say my experiences with a dealership were thwarted at this location. Ryan Moore answered all the questions I had and helped me feel more comfortable with my first purchase at a dealer. I always swore behind buying private owned, but times called for going big shop this time. I'm glad I stopped here and found a great daily driver. Ryan was patient and showed no mind to assisting me all day making sure everything was squared away getting the RAV4. Over the months of me having this car I've had zero to no issues with maintenance. Considering it is an '05 it's to be expected. I'm impressed at the condition and very happy with my vehicle. I highly recommend Checkered Flag to anyone looking for new or used cars, very friendly staff here! Take care, everyone.

I purchased a new Tacoma. I was looking for a scaled down version of the truck. I like to get in and out because I know exactly what I want. Peter Levitt was the product specialist I worked with. I’m not always able to make appointments because of my unpredictable schedule at times but I’ve never had an issues walking in to get car maintenance done. The representatives are always very kind, patient and clear in providing all the information I need to know. The shuttle service also comes in the clutch when I do a walk in, they take me back home so I don’t have to stay and wait all day but I can go back home and take care of other things while I wait. To know that they also pick you up from home to back to shop is great. Stress free transaction and my car is nice and healthy. Thank you for all that you do. We first went back to the dealer we previously bought our 4 Runner from. Listen to your gut people! Pretty much from the start I didn’t have a lot of trust in the person who approached us. After the little research I did in advance he said many things that were not true and changed his answers a lot. They had very limited inventory of what we were looking for (not their fault) but overall I didn’t get a good “vibe”. So as we were there, I called another dealership less than 10 miles away and asked what they had in stock and told them we’ll see them soon. Left the first place and headed to the 2nd. Almost instantly I already felt better arriving. Our salesman was very honest. He even admitted that even with our excellent credit, The dealer financing would not beat what our credit union offered (and I know dealerships make their money on financing). Once we decided on a vehicle, I asked the rep “be honest, how long will this take?” He replied “no more than 2 hours”. I told him I was going to hold him to that as I refuse to spend all day there (we had a long drive back home and I don’t like driving in the dark). We actually set a timer on our phone. 1 hr 45 mins later we were ready to drive off. I showed the salesman the timer and thanked him for keeping his word. I was in the market for a new truck and had a not great experience with another dealership so I reached out to Checkered Flag with really low expectations. I wasn't prepared for the level of service I received from Mikel. He stayed 2 steps ahead the whole process. From being a clear communicator and quick to respond and providing videos of the truck so I could make a clear decision about what I wanted. It was service I didn't know I needed. Buying a new vehicle is a daunting process and it didn't feel that way at all with Mikel. Great job....will definitely recommend.

I was in the other day to see about scheduling an appointment for an inspection with other services on my 2006 Corolla. Miss Stephanie MT was very helpful and explained how the state inspections work, but before she was able to help me I noticed a male customer that was quite rude. He came acrossed as a condescending womanizer and it seemed as if he was trying to devalue her knowledge and understanding of her job and the business. Despite the harassment, she remained professional and her care made me want to do business with her even more. I will be planning my visit to checkered flag with Stephanie soon.

First and foremost, my wife was in a car wreck and our toyota sienna was totaled. When I went to the wreckage center the next day to get stuff out of it, the guy who towed it could not believe that she walked away pretty much unharmed given the state of the vehicle. My family is hardcore Toyota loyalists and will continue to be so as we had to replace our car this was our first stop. Very seldom would i give an auto dealership 5 stars as 90% of the time you buy something you leave wondering if you got the best deal possible, should you have negotiated harder, did you make a mistake somewhere in the purchase process etc... I have to say that as a buyer this experience went EXTREMELY well. As a knowledgeable buyer and someone who has worked in aggressive sales environments, I can smell b.s. and sales jargon as soon as it starts up and was very pleased with honestly how EASY this transaction was compared to other dealers i have been at. Vick was my sales rep there and I found him to be thorough and friendly throughout the entire process. I asked him multiple questions about different vehicles, found his knowledge to be helpful when narrowing our choice. Also, great stories. I will also add that the dealership was able to find a better lender than what i was pre-approved for that knocked down my APR by 2.5% and I really appreciate that. The only thing that I am not a fan of is the dealer fees at $799 as this is a bit of a charade in terms of adding on to a financed cost. While the "no hassle cost" is lower than what you would find on carvana/carmax the added cost of a high dealer fee does put it around other listings. I also used this total price (dealer fee+listing) as my benchmark and found that the overall price was still slightly better than other comparable listings. Given that I knew this going into the purchase, I won't knock the review down for it as they are pretty upfront about this cost. I will also update this review down the road if need be.

Had a Friday off, and after some errands noticed my low tire light came on. I had already refilled the RF tire a few times. Called the dealership at about 1:45pm and they said I can bring it in w/o an appointment. I live very close, so was there by 2pm, knowing that I would be there till closing. At 5:15 found out I did have a nail in the tire, but service had to check if a technician was still around to do the switch and if a replacement was in stock. I was in luck b/c it was in stock and someone was staying late on their Friday evening to install it! Was very happy I could get it taken care of same day and not have to schedule a time to come bac while driving with a compromised tire! I have had multiple vehicles from here and always have a great experience with Checkered Flag Toyota!

Our first experience with the Checkered Flag system, and I had no idea what to expect, except a fight. Looked at cars on the lot... no sharks... do they not care? Have they met their quota already? Did they not see me...? I walk into the sales building. A whole pack of sharks conversing near the front desk. They greet me. I prepare for the onslaught. They resume conversing. I don't know what to do. Do I make the first move? Do they? Nothing makes sense. I look around a little bit at a bright blue Corolla. I'm not interested in it, I just want to see if the sharks are on a time delay. They are not. A good tactic; I am thoroughly confused and on the defensive. For an offensive that refuses to come. I walk up to the front desk. The sharks wheel to face me. I stammer, like a nervous schoolgirl, that I'd like to test drive a car. They smile, eyes gleaming like ritual knives at high noon, and say "Sure, Mikel can take care of you! Hey Mikel, you got time for a test drive?" They are deferring? The sharks are passing on their prey? Mikel emerges and we COVID-bump. He is friendly. Too friendly. A shark putting his prey at ease before going in for the kill. He quickly arranges the test drive and brings the vehicle to the door for us per my request. I am moderately surprised when he doesn't come with us, his only parting advice to try not to hit any power poles. I wonder how big of a problem that's been lately as I drive the vehicle, a 2019 Blue Flame RAV4 XLE Premium. It's nice, but this isn't a car review. I come back, satisfied with the vehicle, but readying for the real fight: we aren't ready to buy it that day. I try to come up with what tricks Mikel will use to pressure us into signing that day, so as to counter them. We go back to the battlegrounds - Mikel's cubicle. It's a nice cubicle. The skylight above will well show the blood spilt in the battle. I explain my situation. It is an entertaining combination of complicated and stupid. We might buy it, might not, depends on outside factors we can't control. I wait for the inevitable counterattack. His mouth opens, a thousand soldiers pouring forth - "Sure, I get it. Lemme give you my card and if you do decide to get it, you can just come on back or call me. If you don't, no problem!" What? I blink. I blink again, still unable to process. A third time. "So I can just, like, go?" I haltingly utter. Mikel easily responds, "Sure, we don't work on commission here... I don't have any financial incentive to make you buy this car." No commission... no commission? Is that a thing? Can they do that? I look around, newly awoken. All of the salespeople are not acting like sharks. The tones of voice, the body language... it dawns on me that the only pressure in here was me on myself. They're not sharks, they're just people. The next day, the "situation" resolves itself and we resolve to buy this car. We show up, somewhat unannounced (no appointment). We have to wait a little as we came during lunch. Their Wi-Fi is good. Mikel arrives in a little bit and we let him know we're on. We go back to the battleground. The cubicle of doom. Now this isn't my first dealership car purchase - far from it - so I was expecting to do a lot of battle with the trade-in value. Value comes back... it's just about what I was hoping for. There was no haggling over the price of the car, which was already a good chunk under what I would've expected for it. I kept waiting to get four-squared. They never showed up. I had my calculator at the ready. I didn't need it. I kept waiting for this to turn into a dealership experience. It never did. Mikel's hands evince a lifetime of hard labor but you'd never know it by how kind and compassionate he is. Every time I think of a past dealership purchasing experience it's a negative thought, but not this one. So, Mikel McGurran, you have earned these 5 stars, and more. I don't give them out often. Especially not to dealers!

Our car buying experience was not typical. After an exhausting process of narrowing down the vehicle we wanted and dealing with many pushy/hard-to-trust car salesmen, we determined that the best deals (hands down) are found at Checkered Flag. We were all ready to purchase the vehicle we wanted, but due to a miscommunication (and because it was obviously an excellent price) our car was sold to someone else. We were disappointed, but the staff wasted no time in coming up with a plan to rectify my situation. They could have left me out to dry, but instead the sales person (Jennifer Harold), the managers (Paul and Ryan) and the general manager (Josh) quickly found us an even better vehicle, more luxurious and with more bells and whistles than we ever wanted! My daughter was visiting from DC over 4th of July weekend and her car developed two codes on Saturday evening after all shops were closed for the weekend, of course Murphy's Law. I dropped the car off to my mechanic and he fixed the check engine light but he could not take care of the ABS light. He said we needed to go to a dealer for this repair. The service adviser Wayne called early in the morning and then texted at noon that the technician could not find any ABS code and test drove the car twice. He said we could pick it up any time Wednesday. At noon we went in to get the paper work and the Wayne said there was no charge since no code appeared and the tech found no entries when he had it scanned. Experience was great! I showed up looking to trade in my Dodge Ram for something with better gas mileage before a couple of planned road trips, and Alex Suarez hooked me up with a 2016 Toyota Rav4. I had an idea of what I was looking for and he found what I wanted and put it in front of me. It's AWD for when I visit some friends up north while the snow is still falling, and it's much better than the 13 MPG I was getting in my truck. Plus it has more than enough leg room in the second row, and the seats fold down to maximize the truck space if I do need to move something like I would have with the bed of the truck. The appraisal and auto loan application process were quick and painless, and his upbeat personality made sure it wasn't very dull either. I had a great experience here at Checkered Flag Toyota! It was my first time buying from a dealership, and Cecilia made it very easy! My wife and I have been looking for a newer corolla/camry. We started our search at Priority Toyota, and that was our biggest mistake! With the way the market is they felt like they could get anything they wanted for their cars! They hid the price from us, until it was time to buy the car. They ended up wanting $41,000 for a base model corolla with 57,000 miles on it, and with an msrp of $22,0000 brand new. After that experience, we thought we would never find a car at a good price. Then I decided to give Checkered Flag a chance, and they blew me away. We found the same corolla brand new for around $24,000! There was also a used Toyota Camry for around the same price point, so we ended up upgrading to a corolla instead. I went from a 570 whp Ford Mustang to a very smooth Toyota Camry, and I couldn't have been happier! Everyone there was so nice and engaging! The only con I had with the dealership is their detail department. We ended up finding gunk in the cup holder, and in some wedged in places. Floor mats were also dirty. That all being said, it was late at night, and I'm sure they all wanted to go home. I ended up cleaning the rest of the car myself. Overall, if you are thinking of getting a new or used car, I highly recommend Cecilia, and Checkered Flag! We'll definitely be back the next time one of us needs a new car!

I bought a car yesterday and was very pleased with ALAN as the sales representative. His information delivery was smooth believable and helpful. He did not pressure too much and I felt like he was trying to get a good deal for me not just make a sale. When I asked a question he knew the answer or went quickly to go find out what the answer was. He made sure my test drive was for as long as I needed and helped me connect to the Apple music in the car. He also got me better financing than even Navy Federal credit Union and I save money there. Explained all the add-on products such as the clear coats and warranty programs and offer a price reduction and was not too pushy. I even accidentally spilled a cup of coffee on his desk and he remained composed and polite. Buy a car was much shorter and easier than I thought it would be. I was impressed that I didn't even have to go to DMV and they could get me plates in a registration sticker right there. he made me feel welcomed appreciated and answered any questions that I had. I would definitely recommend Alan. One of the things I do not care for after the sale though is you'll have to spend over $400 just to get a replacement key. They do this on purpose and it's ridiculous no key should cost $400 I don't care how many electronics or widgets or programming it has to have this is just outrageous.

Checkered flag makes it very hard for their employees to ‘win’. I scheduled an appointment this morning at 0930 for a 50k maintenance, an oil change and multipoint inspection. Terry was my advisor was very good at letting me know the shop was backed up and offered me shuttle services If needed. I declined and decided to wait. In the end I didn’t get my paperwork until around 1330. I have done every single routine/ recommended maintenance on all of my Toyota’s since 2013 and I have never waited four hours for an oil change. If checkered flag wants to over book appointments instead of making appointments for what their shop can accurately manage they need to set a standard wait this amount of time before they start offering discounts on their services. Also. Only once did I give into the pressure of buying a Toyota extended warranty. It’s a scam. Not worth the hassle of a few extra free oil changes. Don’t ever do it no matter what ‘scenerios’ the financial employees throw at you. Learned my lesson the hard way. Biggest waste of money and time.

Because all time slots were booked for August, I had to drop my car off at the service center first-thing in the morning without an appointment. I received my car back at the end of the day with an approved inspection and all the brake work I needed to get done. Great Customer Service Experience!! We needed to have our alternator looked at and tires replaced. Service Department Opens Early, we were able to get in early, Keisha wrote us up and took all the information. She gave us some good tire recommendations. What I liked best is that their everyday Tire Prices were 25% off and that they had tires in stock for our Camry SE. They even opened the Toyota rent a car a little early for us so we could get off to work. What we like is the rent a car was right on site and we didn't have to leave or go see someone else. Not the best time for buyers to purchase a vehicle but I had the pleasure of coming across Checkered Flag Toyota in Virginia Beach in search of my Toyota Tacoma. I'm located in NJ and with the car prices the way they are, I thought it would serve me better to expand my search and luckily I did. I had the pleasure of dealing with and meeting James Mckee at Checkered Flag and ALL correspondence was through text, phone call and eventually in person to pick up my new vehicle. There were local dealers in NJ adamant that I had to present to discuss pricing, options, etc. to get a deal done, but James gave me the courtesy of working it all through remotely. I greatly appreciated the fact he explained everything upfront, he gave me straight up answers and continued ongoing communication without knowing if I would actually purchase or not. The only concern we had and the reason for the 4 stars was that our sales rep Tatiana had no knowledge about the car we were purchasing. Other dealerships gave us a overview of the vehicle before test driving, this one did not. We just got the tags and were sent on our way. We understand she was fairly new, however, I think you should know something about the product you are selling. There was not a lot of effort made to get answers to questions we had about the car features, the emphasis was more on the car purchase. But overall, not a bad experience.

when i first went to this dealership, Tony had helped me out look for a specific car that i wanted and that was also in my budget. they didn’t have it. however, i had changed my mind later on and started looking for corollas. i went back to this dealership because they had a 2018 white toyota corolla available that i have been wanting and that was also in my budget. The best part of the experience was how patient and professional that Van Eric and Chris Berger were. We had to redo paperwork a couple of times and they stayed professional throughout. I really appreciated my car-buying experience at Checkered Flag. I was deliberating between a Honda Accord and a Toyota Camry. Fortunately, Checkered Flag has both product dealerships and the sales associates are willing to help in any way for a side-by-side comparison. My sales associate, Jeremiah, was extremely patient with my indecision. He listened carefully and was able to reflect my needs and preferences in his guidance. Jay Sawyer showed us the car, took us on a test drive and showed us the price. He was thorough but never pushy! When I got there I decided not to wait around but to go get some exercise while my oil change was getting done. Billy, my service rep, was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He called a shuttle for me and then the nicest veteran pulled up to drop me off at my favorite nearby park for a workout. We had the best conversation while riding and then he picked me up from the park when my car was just about ready. Did I mention that before I left for my workout I was able to grab a few complimentary mini-water bottles that helped me get through my workout? How cool is that ?!! I’ve been having my car serviced at Checkered Flag Toyota for several years now. It seems their service just keeps getting better and better. I was able to change into my workout clothes, get dropped off, and come back to pick up my car without missing a beat in my daily routine. That type of service is not easy to come by. I feel like this goes without saying because I’ve gotten used to this level of quality work from them, but I can’t end this review without saying that the mechanics’ work is remarkable and that the team there has earned my trust over the years. Having bought a used vehicle from them to have it break down in under three months, to having to call 3 different managers to get them to honor the warranty they sold me, to having to wait over 3 months to have it repaired, which still is not completed. *Update* After speaking with the GM, and him hearing out my frustrations, this issues that have arisen, and explanations for them, things have been set in order. Would I say I've had a five star experience? No. But, if the company is doing wrong, they do seem eager to set things right, which is more than most would offer.

The service here is outstanding and I'm glad that I bought the car here, so that it can be serviced regularly at Checkered Flag, even though I live out of the area now. When I went for my first 5,000-mile maintenance for my new car that I just bought in August, I was greeted by nothing but prompt, courteous, helpful, and friendly service. I had a mysterious noise that I also needed checked out and went on a short 5-minute ride with a nice mechanic to try to recreate it. Unfortunately, it never resurfaced, so we never could diagnose it. In addition to that, I didn't have a pin stripe detail on the passenger side of the door and asked them how much it would cost for it to be applied to the car. I assumed that it got washed out with the last professional car wash that was done. Come to find out from the guy that applies the pin stripes, that it was never applied to the door which was strange. They did it for free, on top of the 5,000-mile service, noise diagnostic, and complimentary car wash! Overall, I would highly recommend this place for anyone for setting up service at any time. It's got a friendly and helpful staff, atmosphere, and a comfortable waiting area. This is a 360-degree turn from the attitude at the sales department (which needs its own review for another time). If it weren't for the amicable service staff, my overall review for Checkered Flag Toyota would've been a complete thumbs down. I highly commend the service staff for all of their help and friendly demeanor, besides good work. I look forward to the next service appointment in the near future.

I already had the car picked out days before. We filled out the financing online and were already approved for the best credit. Yet we were there for 5 1/2 hours. We were pleasantly surprised that Tatsiana Aliaksakhina and Christopher Robinson came out to assist us. I tried to do the right thing and made an appointment for tomorrow but later received a phone call that state inspections by themselves are a walk-in service and my appointment would be cancelled and I could come in anytime before 4. I decided to come today to avoid the snow storm tomorrow. I arrived a little after 3pm. I was rudely greeted by Allie and when I stated I was there for a state inspection, she huffed and said "it could be until 8pm". I questioned about being here before 4 and she just snapped back and said "take a seat in the lounge and we will have it done by 8, that's all we can promise". My inspection is due this month and I am expecting my first child at any moment so I am simply trying to get my inspection done by the dealership that I bought my truck from before I go into labor. I am not impressed by the way I was treated today and I will most definitely not work with Allie again. It would be worth going somewhere else and being treated as a loyal costumer than to be treated as a nuisance.
