I had a bad experience at Shannon Motors on Cranston Street in the late 1980's. Well, a lot has changed in 30-plus years. The location on Killingly Street is a stark contrast of my initial encounter. The staff are great, the prices are competitive, and the cars are in excellent condition. While they didn't have the particular model I was looking for (a Chrysler 300), I spoke to the manager in great detail. The fact that he took the time to speak with me knowing I was not buying any other model speaks volumes. Based on a consensus with other reviewers, this is a fine establishment. In any event, I ended up buying my car at The Car Palace in Taunton, MA. A 5-star establishment.

Brad (salesmen) is one of the best I've dealt with. He is pleasant and transparent everytime I've interacted with him. He got me in a car I love and working on my credit. All of the people in the main building are really good to deal with.... but the women in the the payment and transaction building across the street are awful to deal with. They are just miserable and act as if your bothering them. I've had to go in that building 3 times and I've gotten more eye rolls, bad attitude, and deep breathes blown at me more times then I've ever gotten in my life. Sales people in the main office are great people, especially Brad. I would recommend him to friends and family but they need a whole new crew of secretaries. It's really too bad they are so miserable. Getting a new car is supposed to be exciting and a happy time and they drain the joy right out of it.

I have to say I had an interesting experience with Shannon Motors of Johnston. Eddie was very personable and made the buying process stress free. There are several reasons why I am updating this review that I was asked to make when I had purchased through this dealership. Within a couple days of purchasing my vehicle I had needed service with a small issue. I called back to visibly notice a change in demeanor with the sales staff. I was then connected to the service center where no one picked up to help with my issue. I've called several times since and have not gotten in touch with anyone. I understand a salesman will do what they have to to sell a car, but I had called back to be treated much, much differently than my initial interaction and it was as though my call was not important. I felt that the staff couldn't be bothered with such a menial issue. Two months later there is now several issues with my vehicle. The ease of getting into a car was nice, but was in the long run not exactly worth what I am paying for. I will not be using Shannon Motors again in the future.

An amazing car buying experience! I purposely waited a few weeks to write this review because I wanted to see if the follow through was as great as the car buying experience. I can tell you it is! I searched for a minivan for months and test drove many. While my husband and I were test driving a minivan one day, I spotted a beauty in the Shannon Motors car lot. My husband pulled over and I quickly ran into Shannon Motors to ask about the vehicle. The year and price were pulled up in seconds and I told them we would be back for a test drive. We returned the other vehicle and walked into Shannon Motors minutes later. The keys were already waiting for us on our return. The van was in such great shape upon inspecting it! It had all of the bells and whistles and we were not expecting that for the price. It looked and drove like it was brand new and because the price was shockingly low, we thought there had to be something wrong with it. We were told that all vehicles bought at Shannon Motors leave the lot with a 24 month/24,000 mile warranty. Could this get any better? We ran to the bank and the buying process was so smooth that within an hour I was beaming as I drove away with my new minivan! The following week my registration and plates were ready for pickup and I am still enjoying this wonderful van. I get compliments almost every day and still can't believe it's mine. An amazing car buying experience from A to Z. I couldn't be more pleased with Shannon Motors!

I was greeted on the lot by Shawn with a smile and a handshake. Shawn was incredibly knowledgeable, easy to talk to, understanding and 100% helpful. wanted to start by saying that I have horrible credit and didn’t know where to begin when my car broke down. I am like everyone else at one time I had perfect credit but life happens and I was unable to keep my credit in good standing. I knew I couldn’t go to a regular bank so I searched bad credit financing and Shannon popped up. I was very put off by the reviews but remembered hearing one time that if you have a good experience you may tell one person but If you have a bad experience you tell everybody. So I ignored the reviews and gave them a try. All I have to say is thank god I did. I met Paul Reis at the Johnston location. His knowledge of their programs and how to work the banks against each other to get the best approval was amazing. Within 1.5 hours I am driving my new car with a lifetime warranty and on the road to rebuilding my credit. He also went as far as to give info on additional on ways to improve my credit score even faster. This is actually my second review. The first one that I posted was not the greatest. When I bought my first car from Shannon I was new at the whole car buying thing and wanted what I wanted when I wanted it, but I had ruined my credit years earlier when fresh out of school. So I had no choice but to buy a car at Shannon. I had no money down and no other options the car was older and had high mileage but it did have a 1 yr service contract that covered all the important things. But I was determined to upgrade as soon as possible and get out of that car. So I did what the sales person Paul Reis told me to do with my credit and made all my payments on time. Now fast forward 1 yr and I am writing my second review and I am so happy that I listened to him and bought that first car that year flew bye. I have just taken delivery of my upgraded car a 2012 Altima traded back in my first car and my credit is back on track. Thank you Paul.

My experience with shannon motors was AMAZING. They gave me (not the exact Jeep I wanted) but none the less one I love. They had it ready for me the same day I applied, and when there was an issue with it a few days later they got me RIGHT in the shop to have it fixed. They fixed everything that was wrong and because I had to wait a while for it to be done the head mechanic that was at the front desk (I think kevin?) had extra of his lunch and shared it with me cause I had to sit there all day and gave me water as well. Had my repairs rushed cause I had no ride home (even though it was supposed to stay more then a day for repairs) and had it done by 2pm cause of my no way home issue. By far the best experience ive ever had with a car dealership and service for a vehicle.

My experience was pretty good. Carmine was a great help and I do recommend him. I knew what I was getting into coming in because of my credit score but I did it anyways because I was desperate. So the sales experience was great. My issue is with the mechanics. When I bought my car it was fine. Now it is making a squeaking sound. I took it to the mechanic and he greased it and played around with the screw and said to wait a bit and the sound will go away. It has been 2 weeks and the sound still hasnt gone away. I know I pay a mechanic fee but at this point Ill probably take it to a different mechanic bcuz idk about these guys. So sales experience was great. Other issues with my car .. not so much.

Seems to be some split opinions here, so I'll voice my own experience. After being in an accident that was not in any way my fault (two other cars collided, and one pushed the other into mine from another lane), I had to replace my wonderful Honda Accord. We went to Shannon Motors after hearing they can work with less than stellar credit (ours was around 620 after some history with student loans, buying a new home and other incidentals). We went to the Providence location and was treated well by Daquiri, a sales rep normally stationed in Johnston. They were able to secure a loan for us but wanted to offer us a 2012 Ford Fusion (in my opinion, the worst car on their lot - by their own website, it was the oldest model available). I noticed a 2013 Toyota Prius for the same price, and received no hassle about changing to that car. Great sales experience, the price is right about where KBB shows this model, and the financing terms were acceptable. Our only less desirable experience so far was we have had the car for over 2 weeks and have not yet heard back regarding the new license plates or registration. I literally just today called Daquiri to find out what was going on with this, and was referred to another person who was handling that (this is standard in the auto industry... sales sell the cars, and the back office deals with the minutia). The car is great, the terms were reasonable, and the only negative I can cite is that they didn't call us to let us know about any hold-ups with the registration, or to pick up the plates. I am following up with them this week but I do feel they should be more proactive about this sort of thing. It's just sensible "360-degrees" customer service. Overall, we are pleased with them but they didn't quite earn a 4 or 5 star review from me.

Before I went to shannon motors I tried JD Byrider. The difference in the two experiences were like night and day. At JD Byrider i test drove a car, filled out paperwork, not once ever finding out the price of the car. I had looked up the Kelly bluebook value of the car and it was around $5,500, once they had all my information they told me the price of the car was $11,999! The payment plan they tried to put me in was outrageous. When I declined their offer another salesperson came in and tried intimidating me into the deal and basically told me "you can afford this, we did your budget plan so you must of lied on the application." I walked out. Shannon motors on the other hand treated me with respect. They were honest and up front with prices and payment plans. They took the time to go over everything and help me make a wise decision on a purchase of a car. I was in a relaxed atmosphere and not once did I feel pressured. Everything was explained to me, I had different options in payment plans and they set me up in something I was comfortable with. Also letting me know of refinancing options in the future to help lower my payments. I would recommend shannon motors to anyone looking to get into a nice new car who may or may not be able to get a traditional car loan. Their inventory was top notch and I am VERY happy with my 2012 Nissan Altima.
