My experiences with other dealers in the Grand Rapids area had me feeling like I was being pushed into a vehicle and that the offer was only good for 5 mins. Brian let me make the decision that was best for me while providing great feedback and useful information about the truck to help ease my mind. Brian and the team at Courtesy made something that a lovely dealership in Grandville said wasn’t possible, possible. Not only did they stick with the deal I was looking for, but they also delivered a significantly better product to fit within that deal (brand new fully loaded Ram 1500 eco-diesel latest gen3, with all the add ons that I needed for work). Unlike the other dealership Brian didn’t scoff at what I was looking for. His customer service was superb. We dove into scanning through all of Courtesy’s inventory to see if something was close within what I was looking for. Once we found something close, courtesy’s financial manager did everything in his power to meet what I wanted, and even went above and beyond what I asked for. Unlike the other manager at the other dealership who basically just laughed and gave me a bs counter offer with a take it or leave it. Which I’m glad I left it because I got a better truck and deal with courtesy. So needless to say, if you’re looking for a fair/good deal with amazing customer service I highly recommend Brian and the team down at courtesy. They will definitely take care of you.

I traded in a 2017 two door sport Wrangler for a 2017 four door Sahara in December because I needed more space. Matt was a wonderful sales person and very personable. I enjoyed his company during the process. When I purchased the vehicle I knew it would need new tires probably a year out. However, I already need new tires and I haven’t even had an oil change yet. One isn’t holding air and they are all dry rotting. I also noticed a squeaking in the breaks. I’m very happy with their service. They are meeting me in the middle by replacing the breaks and one tire free of charge. I only asked them to pay for one tire. While these things shouldn’t have happened in the first place I respect their response. I’ll continue to shop here knowing they will own their mistake and honor their costumers.

After months of browsing new and used vehicles, I made my decision to purchase a 2021 Jeep Compass. I already have a 2018 Compass in my household, so I knew what I was getting into. I called ahead and talked with Brittany and laid out what options were a must have. They found an 80th Anniversary Edition that had everything I wanted and more! It is a dealership so naturally you will see that reflected in the pricing, but with that higher price comes trust, attention to detail, quality certified parts, warranties, and reliable service. They will provide an honest assessment regarding the work needing to be performed on the vehicle, and a realistic timeline for when they are expected to complete the service being performed. They do have a quick service area that can be a hit or miss in terms of how busy it is/availability, which is why I call my service advisor to schedule appointments ahead of time. They offer a shuttle so if you are local and need to return to work or go home while the vehicle is being worked on, that is an option.

Updated: After finding out my car bought from Courtesy would need quite a few things fixed, I was clearly upset. Courtesy ending up stepping up to the plate and did several of the repairs for me, more than they promised actually. I’ll still be left with around $1800 worth of repairs to fix, but I bought a used car and that’s a risk. Jeff, general sales manager, and Kevin, service technician, were amazing at fixing the issues once it was brought to them. Excellent service just as I was expecting considering there high reviews and number of awards. Chris was a superb sales rep and forthright every step of the way. It has been an insanely busy time for the used car industry because of the pandemic and yet Courtesy was on top of things. For a little context, we tried to buy a town and country from over a dozen other dealerships throughout west and central Michigan with a range of experiences. Ultimately, Courtesy had the lowest price, greatest value, and excellent car buying experience. Carmax May have had a slightly smoother buying experience, but for the thousands of dollars more they charge to deliver said experience, it wasn’t worth it. If we would have bought a comparable car at Carmax, as soon as we would haven driven away with the car we paid $5,000 more for that $5,000 would have evaporated from the actual market value of the vehicle in case we needed to turn around and sell it. To me, the “smoother” car buying experience at Carmax is not worth that extra $5,000-$10,000 they up charge in comparison with Courtesy. If money is less of an object for you and don’t have the time to do an ounce of research for the car you want and don’t want to pay for AutoCheck or other “Carfax” like vehicle history reports (Courtesy offered it for free), then spend the extra 5-10k, or more, at Carmax.

Todd Whittaker (sales), he was hands down the best salesman that I have ever had the pleasure of working with when purchasing a vehicle. He was honest in word and deed; he listened; never tried to up sale; his level of integrity was refreshing, and he understood customer service. Believe me, I understand what the word integrity means as a former U.S. ARMY officer. He has high standards, that aligned with what I was looking for since I tend to have exacting standards and prefer to work with people of the same caliber. I was not a local customer; I came in from the Lansing area. He was involved every step of the way to ensure my satisfaction was Job #1. I had a few issues on my newly purchased vehicle, but this was one of the places where Todd shined the brightest. He organized resources and ensured the issues were addressed in a timely manner to my standards. Brett Bowman (Finance) was knowledgeable and did a great job answering questions and ensuring I understood things thoroughly. Kevin Gizowski (service advisor) was quick to determine what was going on. He quickly got my vehicle in and addressed the issue in no time at all. This dealership and Todd deserve 5-stars. If I could rate them higher, I would.

My wife recently purchased a used Subaru Forester from Courtesy Dodge. Aaron in the used car office was outstanding; very pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and supportive rather than aggressive as many used car salesmen are. This was a really good experience. We have nothing unpleasant to recall; no buyer's remorse, no wishing the sales person had told us more about the car, no wondering about warranties or the history of the car. In short, the entire sale and transaction was a real pleasure due to Aaron's people skills and technical knowledge. We were very impressed! Courtesy Dodge has a good used car philosophy and they seem trustworthy. If you are in the market for a used car, ask for Aaron. He's the exception! Over the first two months of ownership, we found our Forester had a weak battery. It went dead on three occasions. I called Aaron. He said they would check it out and transferred me to service. The service person I spoke to seemed pleasant and helpful; he said to bring the car in and they would check it. The next day I brought the car to service. Attitudes were different there. The battery was weak and we have a $139 battery we can put in - you pay. My advice is to go there with your determination locked and loaded and be prepared to be stonewalled, be ready to go toe-toe with these people. I contacted Aaron and within 45 minutes had a new battery, the kind that should have come in a $21,000 dollar car. The Forester starts strong and fast now the way it should. Bottom line: Aaron stuck his neck out, dealt with "service" in my behalf and saved Courtesy (Really??) Dodge a One Star review for service. Thank you, Aaron! My original positive assessment of the Courtesy used car staff, Arron in particular, remains positive. Five Stars all the way! Our buying experience was really good. However, don't count on "service" backing any warranties or being helpful in any way. They are a One Star belligerent, surly, unhelpful part of this dealership that could use some training or replacement.

I called Courtesy Dodge to have my battery replaced. I was told then that I had two recalls on my vehicle and so I made an appointment to address them as well as my engine light being on. I was given a free rental during the service appointment. The recalls were fixed along with the catalytic converter for less than what I had been quoted at a garage I had used in the past. Sydney V. was excellent to work with! She had me set with the rental car, even extending it while parts were ordered. She kept me informed with the progress and pricing for my vehicle and made sure that everything was addressed with the repairs. I was on my way into (around 4 pm on a Friday) town for the evening from Detroit, 6 months pregnant and my husbands car started acting odd. I brought it straight to the dealership and they were able to squeeze me in, stay late on a Friday, help me out to the best of their ability and have my care safe to drive home later that evening. I completely recommend this dealership, their staff is attentive, friendly and put me as the customer first, understanding I had a 3 hour drive home that evening. Their waiting room is comfortable, clean and accommodating (yummy cookies too). I came in for my 1pm appointment for a recall which I was told involved a software update. Over the phone I was told a half hour for the appointment, when I got there I was told an hour. I was on my lunch break, and it ended up being two hours. I asked about it at 2:15pm and was told it was just being finished, yet it took another 40 minutes. I drove the vehicle away and noticed my oil change gauge was reset and that I had a new oil change sticker, even though this service was not supposed to be performed. I had to call and ask about this, the mileage on the sticker did not match my Jeep either. I was told that one was done, but when inquired further due to an upcoming trip I'm taking, I was told it was not done. There was a mix up with my Jeep and another and it was prepped for an oil change but did not have one. I was also informed about a mix up with my keys being lost for a bit of time in the beginning. After this call I did get a call from someone else explaining again what happened and to apologize. The four stars is for the lack of communication while I was there and the extra time it took with no explanation of why while I was there. I have been a customer for a long time.

I also asked that they check on replacing one of my front headlight bulbs as the replacement bulb I purchased from AutoZone did not match what I saw when I tried replacing the bulb myself. The service rep came into the lobby to tell me that replacing one bulb would cost $250 and explained the high cost was due to the "brains" of the light that is required. I trusted that this was a fair price (by dealership standards) and told them to go ahead and replace it. After looking for replacement bulbs I found that they usually max out around $120 for a pair. I do not blame the dealership for me deciding to allow them to do the replacement. I take responsibility for that. The reason that I am giving a bad review is that I would hope a dealership would try and build trust with their customers by letting them know when a particular part is extremely overpriced (400% markup on this particular light bulb) and that they should explore replacing the part on their own. The service rep said no such thing and so I will not return to this dealership for any service as it seems they do not prioritize building trust over gouging their customers. EDIT: The service and parts manager reached out to me after my original review and talked me through their process. He was professional and respectful and offered a partial refund on the amount I paid for the replacement bulb. He reiterated that they are not trying to take advantage of their customers and wanted to gain back my trust. I appreciate the effort on his part and so I have changed the star rating from 1 to 3 stars.

Chris S in used car sales and Brent from the financial department were great to deal with. Brent went above and beyond to find financing for me and got me in to a sharp Grand Cherokee . So special thanks to the two of you. It’s unfortunate that the service department and Courtesy leaves a bad taste in many of their customers. When the car was purchased it came along with tire warranty, about a month after driving it I got a screw stuck in the tire so I took it in to get looked at, the service department deemed that the tire was irreparable and said it would be replaced under warranty. Well I wasn’t told that I would have to pay a fee for the mounting of the new tire, so when I picked up the car I had a $30 fee that needed to be paid. I also asked for an oil change since I was coming up on 3000 miles which I thought was standard for an oil change, which wasn’t the case the car was scheduled for 6000 miles till the next oil change which I was only half way too the tech did not advise me and performed the service anyway. So I ended up walking out of there with a $99 dollar bill for a service that wasn’t yet needed( they have this info in their system) and for a service fee that I wasn’t aware would be charged as the tire was under warranty(tire replacement). To top it off 3 1/2 months after purchasing this $24000 car I get stranded on Christmas because of a bad key so I call the dealership the day after Christmas to ask if I had any coverage on the key and was told that the 90 day warranty was up a couple weeks before that. Mind you these keys are about $300. After all this I still brought in a different car for a $800 repair, I made the service department aware of my discontent about the Jeep I was told to call the service manager and here we are 2 weeks later and he has yet to return my voicemail. I’m not one to bash businesses but I hope my review will help Courtesy better understand some of our discontent with them after spending $1000s of dollars there.

Ok to start this review off. I gave it four stars because of one reason in particular. Unfortunately my vehicle was a lemon that I got from this dealership. Now I purchased a used 2012 chrysler town and country from the dealership and it worked fantastic. The fatal flaw was that it had a bad transmission. I called the dealership and thankfully they covered it for me. Now I can't say that will happen for everyone, but I got lucky. Also the buying process was amazing, Dale and Matt were the two people who helped me out. Dale being the salesman and Matt being the finance guy. Other then getting a lemon at first I would still say this dealership is a good place. I would maybe recommend purchasing from a dealership in your own city because grand rapids was a bt of a drive for me. All in all though 4 stars.

Key was left in the lock position of the ignition for several hours and, unbeknownst to us at the time, the dome light was also on, and couldn't start the car. Was completely dead. Tried twice to jump it and nothing. Reached out to a mechanic friend of ours, told him the symptoms, and he had us preparing us for the worst, as in the communication board of the computer being completely shot and in need of replacement to the tune of $1,800. Had it towed the next morning to Courtesy Dodge and, instead of jumping to (expensive) conclusions, Sydney, the service rep, proposed looking from a simplest-to-complex approach. She set the battery up for a full recharge and load check. She fully charged it with her state-of-the-art equipment, ran the load check, and it passed with flying colors. I cannot tell you the relief we felt when we heard the good news. All of this was done free of charge and we were so incredibly grateful that they didn't use it as an opportunity to take advantage of us. We felt we were dealing with friends, but professional ones. Cannot be more appreciative and can't wait to take the vehicle into Courtesy for regular service and repairs. It's earned my trust. Thank you, again.

Apologies- this was actually from 2018. It didn’t post. The A/C went out on our certified ‘15 Town & Country. Upon purchase, we followed Matt Hoople’s strong suggestion, to buy the Lifetime+ extended warranty. I brought the van in this morning to get it diagnosed and fixed. Jason Miller called me back a short time later, saying that it was the rear compressor that had failed, and a leak in one of the lines as well. When he looked it up, he found that the codes weren’t showing up as being covered under the warranty. He could have left it at that and the dealership could have charged us over $3600 to repair the issues. But, instead, he contacted Chrysler, directly to investigate. Indeed, there was an issue with coding, but his tenacity saved us almost $4000, and it is now being fixed properly. The service, and honesty, that I’ve experienced with the staff at Courtesy Dodge, has been fantastic. We will definitely be coming back for both service, and future purchases.
