The online application was easy. I got a response quickly. I came in, finalized the application and test drove the car I wanted and within a half hour was driving off. No pressure from the sales department, Austin was knowledgeable and forthcoming with information. With a seven day return warranty, I had time to take the vehicle to my mechanic for a diagnostic test. 10/10 would recommend CarHop to anyone!

I sat with Alex to practice their customer service. They are working very hard. I was told in practice to leave a review. I like how I get a 18 month warranty that covers any repairs with just a $100 deposit. I can also build my credit effectively with 200 points in 2 years. All offered at a great deal with low monthly payments. Here is a one eyed cat I found. Very cute and gets to ride in a used 2012 Ford Focus. P.S I will remove this on the conditions we are privileged to Raising Caines Chicken Fingers.

CarHop’s program works! In January 2020, I found myself in desperate need for a reliable car that I could put a small down payment and then, make payments each month. My credit was abysmal. I don’t think it was even 500 – as I had previously filed bankruptcy and was unable to work due to disability. Everywhere I tried to buy a car, I was denied. I shared my story with Mike and Noah at CarHop Des Moines. They listened empathetically and were able to get me approved for a 2005 Honda Pilot with approx. 80k miles – excellent CarFax report – only 1 previous owner, who took meticulous care of the car and used their local dealer for regular maintenance. Each month, I made my payments on time and in full. In return, CarHop provided positive reporting to the credit monitoring bureaus, showing that I had been making my payments. Fast forward to today, September 2021, my credit score is 670! Plus, I’ve been approved for up to a $26k car at a 4.5% interest rate! Wow! I would not have been able to get here without the assistance of CarHop – they take chances on people like me who have hit rough patches. Noah is still the manager at CarHop Des Moines and Mike is now manager of his own location down in Missouri. I’m grateful to both of them and hope they keep doing what they’re doing to help people like me!

While ultimately I didn't go in that direction to purchase the vehicle the sales person was very friendly and thorough and answered all my questions if you're looking for a car it's a good place to start but before warned they will hassle you quite a bit to get you to come in but it's like that was most places I wouldn't recommend buying a car here but if that's all you can do that's all you can do

I CHANGED my review...At first I had the best car shopping experience ever. I worked with Austin and Mike and they were able to assist me in getting a new car that I love. The manager working was extremely helpful as well. They all managed to work hard and diligently to get me into a new car. Very helpful with tips and experiences. I should have went to Carhop in the first place. Their main focus is getting you into something you can afford and build your credit at the same time. I'm am very thankful for what they did and continuously do for their customers. I am editing my review because the customer service is stellar - 5 Star for sure. *See above* But after having the car a few months it seems that there is little to be said about the cars themselves. I do not feel they thoroughly inspect the cars before putting them on the lot to sell. I have had my car for a few months and there is more issues with the car than was lead on to be. But since there seems to be a discretion with what the actual warranty is - the issues I now face is not covered. I have had cars 10 years or longer and driven across the country in the same car and never had a power steering leak issue/rack and pinion. Sorry, but I do not feel or see how driving 9K is the cause or issue. Despite what has happened Mike was able to resolve the issue and ease my frustrations. He has gone above and beyond to come to a resolution... WE were able to discus the situation and come to a mutual agreement and understanding. Top notch service and I still recommend Carhop.

My experience has been great!! Not for everyone and it's a gamble like any used dealership!! Carhop is just a higher gamble. Find a car. Like a car. Listen to it. Take it to a mechanic and have it looked at within the 7 days. Not every car will be perfect. Like a car. Look into that car. Looks like a good deal with no clanking. Go for it! My car so far has had no problems with it at all. Been at least 50,000 miles and only basic maintenance has been done to it. Not all the cars will be the same. I promise that some will have problems. Some won't. Just make sure you listen to it and take it for a checkup like your own kid when you pull it off the lot.

The sales staff at CarHop in Des Moines, IA is more than Awsome!!! I was at the end of my rope. My situation was so bad I didn't know what to do. The vehicle I was driving had been repossessed that week, and my credit score was low. I had bought two other vehicles in the past so I called CarHop. They were able to help me. Did I mention that I had no trade-in, no collateral, and nothing for a down payment. I was blown away! When I fell behind in my payments, Christy helped me alot! She worked, worked, with me and even when the vehicle had to be disabled because I kept missing my payment plan dates, She was still polite, never threatened me or made feel uncomfortable. Just make my payments on time. With help from family I was able to get caught up. Christy is very direct and to the point so you understand that making your payments on time is important. Issues in the past did not stop Mike from helping me get a car. There were a few bumps, but that's to be expected with some used cars. I am thankful to have a car now that actually runs! Edit: Beware, if you don't use autopay they will harass you with calls, emails, and texts about your payments - even if you're on time (-1 star)

First need to understand that this isn’t a normal dealership they specialize in helping people with credit issues so they work really hard to finance you first then they show you vehicles that fit ur budget an that the finance company is willing to take a chance on you with. I got my 2005 saturn vue from there and have had it a little over a year. Had some mechanical issues at first but the warranty they include when you purchase a vehicle through them covered everything and they fixed the issues right away and I have not had any issues since! It is in really good shape too. No rust at all for its age! Would definitely recommend them to people who doesn't have the best credit. I got my vue with nothing down. Please read this before considering this place. The only reason I’m giving this place a MAX of two stars is because I really do like my car that I got from them. But DO NOT go through car hop if you have ANY other option. I’m paying almost exactly double of the blue book value, they will not tell you any prices or miles unless you commit to a car. They give you a set bracket of cars that you can choose from. But my biggest complaint is how the pulled one over on me. I test drove a 2010 Nissan Altima that was the nicest car that “they could approve me for” (which I was approved for a 2014 Ford Fusion on-line but apparently I wasn’t really approved for that, just a way to get me in store). I did like the car which I told them a few concerns that I had for it. One being it pulled TERRIBLY bad to the right. So the (I would later find out ex store manager Ursula) told me they would throw in an alignment for free. Sounded like a great deal, got the car went and got the alignment, dropped the receipt off to Ursula like I was told to. So I waited two weeks before inquiring about the “refund” check I was supposed to get. Finally when I called it took TWO HOURS to actually get my “local” car hop. Kept going to corporate and had to explain my situation over and over with every call, as I had to call numerous times to try to get my Des Moines store. With every call they preceded to tell me they DO NOT do refunds and it is against company policy. Finally when I did get my Des Moines store I talked to eleck. Apparently eleck is now the new store manager and had no idea about this deal, may I add ITS IN MY CONTRACT, so he seemed eager to help. He told me to send the receipts for the alignment to him via email. Which I did. Now it’s been another 3 weeks and he won’t call me back answer my emails and I live an hour and half away so I can’t just swing in. To this day they still have not contacted me about the matter. It’s just so unprofessional that they seem to be dodging my concerns and all I want if not some sort of compensation is some closure on the matter and perhaps a sincere apology. The alignment was only 90$ and nothing else seems to be wrong with the car, but that is not the point. The point is don’t tell someone something and do exact opposite, while claiming you are so good to your customers. I will update this post if there are any new revelations. UPDATE: I have received confirmation that car hop is willing and has a check for me for the deal that was stated above. The store manager has seemed like he has wanted to help and I understand that they don’t do refund checks so this probably took a bit for him to push through. It wasn’t about the money all along it was the principle and I think he really understood that. Updated to 4 stars

Bought a car from them 3 weeks ago. I was stopped twice in 12 hours for illegal tint on the windows and lights. I had to get the window tint removed and still looking for someone to remove the tint sprayed on the lights and tail lights. When I called the 800 number yesterday they told me to get receipts and they would go from there. Today they tell me it's not their problem. It's not ok. They did not tell me this tint was illegal. I'm thinking they can have this car back. It has other problems that I was willing to fix but I feel it was quite shady to sell the car with all this illegal tint and not disclose it. Update: After I posted about this car hop responded asking me to email them. The next day I got a call, multiple apologies, they are reimbursing for the tint I had removed and ordering new head lights and tail lights. Thank you for making it right.

Me and my wife went to Car Hop to get her a car. She bought a 2005 Buick Lacrosse about 3 or 4 months ago. It has been in the shop every month. Now the check engine light is on. I just had to replace the heater motor and resister. The blowing motor came from a junk yard and someone had wired it by putting a resister in between the wire's.
