If I can give more than 5 stars I would. I had the best car shopping experience working with Daniel Fernandez. I told him what I wanted and what my budget was. My parents were in the market for an electric SUV for most of 2022. They've waited months for inventory to become available. I’ve gone with them to many dealers and dealt with their sales people. Some understanding and some really pushy. So when I write that our salesman, Luis Gonzales, is great. I mean it. We first meet Luis back in April of 2022 at City Volkswagen Of Chicago. He was nice, honest, not sales pushy, and he said that his dealership doesn’t do markups. Fast forward to today since they had the exact car my parents were waiting for. We had Luis and everything went smooth. Conversations were great. He made sure to bring up the IRS EV tax rebate, Illinois EV tax rebate, and signed us up for 3 years of free charging with Electrify America. He even drove us to Chase bank to grab our deposit check. Never would’ve expected that and it all added to a great car buying experience. And like he said back when we first meet him. He got us the 2023 ID.4 AWD Pro S in black at MSRP. No mark up. No warranty and protection push. I highly recommend Luis Gonzales to be your go-to at this dealer. Great car sales people are rare but we’re lucky to have him. And massive shoutout to Jennifer Stewart! She made the paperwork part such a pleasant experience.

Worked with Anthony Grassini on a purchase of a 2022 Atlas. I walked in with two kids under the age of 3 and he totally read the room when they were starting to break down and knew I needed to head out. Anthony kept in touch, worked around my schedule of working at home to talk over things on the phone, great experience. Honest guy too, if he didn’t have an answer, he didn’t make it up, he would take a minute and get the correct answer for you. Great overall experience.

I had been looking for a GTI for a quite some time and when I visited City VW of Chicago last month, they didn’t have any. My sales rep Alex Rocha told me that due to the chip shortage, most dealerships were getting some difficulties to get new units and in case they were going to receive one, he would reserve it for me. I had a good surprise three weeks later, when he called me, telling me that they had received one. I went to see it, had my test drive and took it home. Overall, I had a great customer experience, Alex was very helpful and very knowledgeable, he explained to me all the cool features about my new car. I would highly recommend working with him. The experience here was so easy from start to finish the way it should be. We worked with Luis and he was the nicest and most patient person you can work with. Service was quick, professional! I had work done on my car that warranty covered plus I needed to install a new battery (all was done at the same time). I was charged for the labor done on the installation of the battery which really made no sense since there was work already being done on my car. I understand that the battery was not covered by warranty, but the labor that was being done was covered, so why charge extra for the battery installation.

I wish I can leave 5/5, but the service dept. is horrible ☹️ We had a couple run arounds from fixing suspension, hazard emergency lights, TPS, etc. We literally had to call to make sure the part is in, I understand they are extremely busy, and they are running behind due to logistics and covid- but theres only so many excuses. Had taken my car for a free carwash was told it was going to take 1 hour, took 15 mins gave it back to me still with water, looked like it was done sloppy- why promote a complementary service if its half done and sloppy? For the service dept 1/5 stars. Laura was our saleswoman, she is so kind and caring. She made sure we were taken care of, and once we had to sign paperworks she had grabbed a mechanic to solve our problems & not have the run around. She was very professional and I will try to have her upgrade us to our next Volkswagen. 10/10 stars for Laura.

I had a complicated purchase experience in the sense that I was set to trade-in a vehicle that ended up getting hit while parked on the day of our planned transaction. Everyone at City VW of Chicago was communicative, understanding and compassionate. Furthermore, once my vehicle was finished being repaired after the accident, they were willing to work with me to find the best trade-in offer and purchase price for my new vehicle.

The shuttle service was awful. Even though we selected the shuttle option when booking the appointment, we had to mention it twice when dropping the car. They brought us back to our house after waiting for about 10 minutes while they figured out if there was anyone available. Once the car was ready, they had forgotten that we needed the shuttle to pick us up and had to see if they could track someone down. There wasn't anyone available, so we had leave the car there overnight. They told us they would call us at 8am with an ETA arrival of the shuttle... which never happened. We had to call the service department in the morning and ask about the shuttle. We finally got it sort it out but it was a mess. I understand that this is a complimentary service, but it shouldn't be this disorganized.

Eddie was very helpful and made sure I was taken care of and passed over to sales. I had no idea what I was doing or what to even look for. After sitting down and discussing the pros and cons, Alex actually found me a 2021 Passat. I had originally come in for a used vehicle but he thoroughly explained the carfax report, let me test drive, and answer all my questions. My car had been available long before I called at 5pm to check. I brought it in at 12pm for a recall. When I did arrive, a service tech had me walk outside in the cold to the other service door because some woman was sitting in the driveway in her car, blocking the service tech from pulling out. Instead of asking her to move, he had me walk to the other end, in the cold. I waited several minutes before he pulled out the same door anyway, having me to walk back down there.

I wanna give Kudos to my favorite salesman Charles... he listened to my concerns and made sure I had ALL the information necessary in my purchasing decision...It was a very busy day at the dealership the day I went to pick up my truck, Charles never left me alone the whole 2 hours that I waited. He sat in the car and turned on different things while i looked under the hood and listened for loose belts, looked for anything out of place, leaks or anything shaking or rattling that shouldn't be. Not once did he show frustration or impatience. We shared family stories while waiting at different stages of the purchase. When I thought things may not go my way he knew exactly what to say to keep me uplifted and hopeful. The service manager, Javier walked me with a flashlight under the car, combing through every part, answering every single question. And last but not least, Ernie! The finance guy wrapped up the whole experience with a "bow" lol. This team works like a well oiled machine. I highly recommend this dealership. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

The finance manager on the other hand I was not to fond of. He lived up to the typical car sales stereotypes. He tried to give me a high interest rate before even checking my income and credit. I always check my credit and knew I was at 800+. I would suggest coming in with your own financing if possible. But definitely ask for Alex. He is very knowledgeable and his post sale follow up is great!!

Having heard a couple of weeks ago that VW was discontinuing the Beetle (and always wanting one) I knew the time was now. The finance manager was off for the day so he did my financing paperwork. Somewhere along the line he messed it up and I had to go back to get that fixed. However, the finance manager was awesome! Super kind and great to work with. A true professional. My poor review is based solely on the sales manager. Everyone else made my car buying experience great and he himself ruined it. The service department was also helpful and professional and promptly ordered me another key for my car. Again, had it not been for the sales manager this would be a five star review! Don't be discouraged from shopping there as everyone else I worked with was nothing but a pleasure. I should also add that at no point in time was I pressured. Most car dealerships want to sell you all the extras and push hard for them. Not these guys! Wonderful experience and I wish I could give it a five star but unfortunately one man changed that.

I switched from my last dealer to here even though it’s farther away and I’ve never regretted it. Service staff are thorough, experienced and never try to push you to do anything you don’t need. They stick to their time estimates - my last 50,000 mile maintenance was even done early when I said I had a meeting to go to. If there are any available discounts, they apply them even without you asking. My partner and I bought a 2020 GLI from here, and our sales associate was Enrique Garibay. We popped in without a scheduled test drive just because we happened to be in the area (and we also happened to have our small dog with us). Enrique was amazing!! He was kind to us and our little ankle-biter. He made the trade-in and purchase SO easy and we feel very confident about our purchase and the service. The car we liked had a crack in the windshield, and Enrique made sure that that would be fixed and that the numbers would match our budget. We are a pretty young couple (or at least we *look* awfully young), and sometimes being young can lead to dismissive service, but Enrique never made us feel that way at all. He was upfront about costs and concerns. We also ended up getting the 4-year maintenance package partly because this dealership was so great. We plan to keep this car for a long while, but if the need arises to trade in or purchase another car, we will definitely come here first. Someone give Enrique a raise!!

Me and my partner stopped in quick at VW on our way to a Subaru dealer just to compare the trunk size of an Atlas to the car we were planning to buy. We were pretty quickly greeted by Enrique Garibay. He just asked if we needed help and pointed us to two Atlas that were close to us. While we were looking he asked what we were going to use the car for and things like that. But it never felt like sales pressure. It just felt very chill and conversational. The Atlas was larger than we thought, so we started to turn to head out the door when he pointed towards a Tiguan, a model we hadn’t considered. It was perfect. My partner and I both looked at each other like “we found the one”. Then Enrique opened the back and there was a third row (jaw drop). He’d already very obviously nailed the sale, but he still took the time to show us the car’s features. I thank him for that. I frequently get carried away with one thing about a car and it isn’t until I get home that I realize, it doesn’t have what I need or it has more than what I needed. It was later in the day on the weekend (which I later figured out was closing time) and they were prepping for an event the next day. It probably wasn’t an ideal time to start the buying process, my partner really wanted the car, but realistically I wanted a little time (I was pretty set on Subaru until this beauty of a Tiguan popped up). Enrique picked up on that. He was ready to start the process even at the end of the day but he gave me his card, told me to call, and we could set a time to go over the features I want to find and see if they have the car in stock. I forgot to make an appointment because I’m an awful human. But we came back a couple of days later and Enrique greeted us again. He remembered exactly where we’d left things. I’ve owned 7 cars. Every car buying experience has been edgy, stressful. Everything always just feels like a scam. Nothing feels sincere. Until I bought this Tiguan. Enrique just kept the process very calm and low pressure. He found the car we needed and it even had the things we said were just “nice-to-haves” but not essential…in a market where there are no cars on the lot. Everything felt like it was my choice. Every option he showed me felt like he was trying to help me make a decision about a useful tool in my life rather than just a sale he was trying to make. Maybe it was just really good luck that we landed with Enrique. I had my first great car buying experience. I’m super happy with the car we got. I left this long review because I think it’s important to recognize great work. The car is just an expensive piece of metal with a label on it until someone shows you the value it can add to your life. Thank you Enrique!

Buying a car can be a pretty stressful situation but buying a car under the recent conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic can make it a more stressful environment, so I was pretty nervous/stressed going into it. However, to my surprise, I was so pleased with the process! The dealership was clean, they practiced social distancing/masking rules, and they made sure to follow all guidelines by wearing gloves while on test drives, as well as disinfecting/cleaning the cars. This, hands down, is an outstanding dealership all around. Having owned multiples cars in the past, I would go to say that this has been my best car buying experience yet (very smooth, quick, and straight to the point). I’d like to thank the car salesman, John Gordon for taking the time to get me exactly what I wanted. I can be pretty picky and stubborn when it comes to things that I want and he handled the situation with total patience, and even went above and beyond and found me a deal better than what I had expected. Not only that but Mark, the finance manager, helped expedite the finalizing process and was very knowledgeable on what to recommend to ensure I got the best buy for my car. When the dealership opened I got a call from JP and he answered all my questions and we set up an appointment. He was very helpful in narrowing down my choices and I test drove several vehicles so I could figure out what works best for me. I got several great offers and was given plenty of space to make my decision. They gave me a fair deal on my trade-in. The guy handling the paperwork was very helpful, flexible, and thorough. I just had such a great experience here. My husband and I recently moved to Indiana, and didn't want to drive in to Chicago to get the car we wanted unless we knew that we could get it for a good price. The dealer worked with us on the price over the phone. I've had others refuse to do this in the past. Once we were there, Allen was the best. He was the most genuinely friendly, competent, and helpful car salesman I've ever worked with. I didn't feel like I was being "sold to." I purchased my vehicle from City Volkswagen of Chicago the first week of April 2020. Originally my contact person was Malcom, who set up and confirmed my appointment. However, upon arrival, I was assisted by Luis Gonzalez. Luis was conscientious about my safety due to COVID-19 and provided me with latex gloves for the test drive. Upon my decision to purchase the vehicle the negation got a little suspect when the manager wanted to increase the price of the vehicle above the advertised price, stating the price to certify the vehicle was not included in the advertised price. Although the advertisement clearly indicated the vehicle was certified along with the advertised price. We agreed on a price and there were a few other minor issues that came up that I was disappointed about. However, a week later I made a follow up call to Luis who referred me to the used car manager named Richard. (Not the same manager I spoke with when I purchased the vehicle) Richard listened to my concerns and he even went as far as to correct an issue that was brought up before I took full possession of the vehicle.
