I showed up to Carter’s and asked them if they could get me in a new vehicle within 2 hours since I was short on time. My guy Jason made it happen! I was able to test drive two vehicles, get my trade-in valued, get approved for great financing with low interest, and sign and drive as swift as possible. I was very impressed with the professionalism, transparency, efficiency and friendliness of everyone in the shop. I did not negotiate the list price as I thought Carters provided good value in the 2013 4runner I purchased. They even provided a complimentary fluid film undercoat and alignment to make sure I was happy. Great reciprocal transaction, will definitely go to Jason @ Carter’s for car help in the future ✌️

I recently purchased this 2014 limited from Jay at Carter’s cars. Jay and the whole team where very helpful, honest, and willing to work with me. Didn't send me to a million banks trying to get me approved. This is the second vehicle in 7 years I’ve bought from this company from when they were teeny tiny to them being bigger now. Nothing has changed. Still here for their customers and that goes all the way from the mechanics, who put oil in for me a few days later when i noticed it was low, all the way up to the owner who drove me home at 15 with my new Honda back 7 years ago. I wanted to say that I was impressed with this place. I got a Subaru Outback (2019) and it looks even better than in the ads! :-). We were able to communicate over the phone and text which is so convenient for me since I am Deaf. They made paperwork easier because they understood that I had a very limited schedule so the communication was great, even before meet in person. For me I already decided to get this car so when I arrived there. I was guided to the office then signed papers. Got keys then go. It wasn’t even an hour. IMPRESSIVE. GO THERE!

I would definitely recommend Carter’s Car’s. I purchased a Audi Q7 in 2019 had a great experience, I worked with Tim and Kevin. I was in need of a second vehicle and went back to Carter’s I worked with Jason and Tony once again excellent service. I did have something come up with the vehicle after buying it that was not covered. I called them told them and they reached out to the owner Mort Shapiro. Mort contacted me after hearing what was going on and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. He contacted the other dealership where my vehicle was and paid for it. I can’t thank them enough!! I bought a used car from Carter's Cars late this summer, and a few days after driving it home I found several problems with it which took a few months to resolve. The car would not pass inspection. For each of my problems, Carter's Cars took my car in and fixed it up at no cost because the problems came with the car out of the lot. What Carter's Cars does, which most other dealerships don't do nearly as well, is hold up to their name. Carter's Cars is reliable and trustworthy, and truly values their reputation. I am so glad I got my car from them instead of somewhere else.

I had a really great experience doing business with Carters Cars. In the market for a small pickup truck (like everyone and their mother, it seems), I found a 2011 Nissan Frontier on their lot with only 58k miles. They let me take it to a different mechanic in town to get a 3rd party opinion on it, which was a thumbs up. This was a must-have for me after not doing this and learning my lesson the $3,000 way with my previous car (bought elsewhere). Carters had put a fair amount of work into the car after acquiring it, including new snow tires and new cats and exhaust. The only panel rust on the truck was a small bubble above the rear wheel, which Carters fixed on their dime a couple weeks after I drove the truck home. They also replaced an old caliper that I discovered was seized while doing some of my own brake work, again on their dime. I'm close to 1,000 miles in since buying it and the truck is running great in all kinds of road conditions, from highway to mud to steep ice and snow. Thanks to Tim and the Carters team for a great car-buying experience!

It was a great car burying experience. After a horrible private sale experience with a 2004 Volvo, (graduation gift for our son), it was a pleasure to deal with a dealer who cares about integrity of the word and vehicles. Living in Montpelier, I wanted to get the vehicle to my mechanic to look it over. (They had documented all the work that had been done on the Honda since they received it) They stood behind the sale saying that they would fix anything that my mechanic pointed out was wrong with the vehicle. My mechanic gave it a clean bill of health but pointed out a number of small, but not insignificant issues, that would total a tidy sum to repair. Carter's was true to their word and fixed every item on my mechanic's list. Very impressive.

My Husband and I went to Carters Cars back when they where located in Milton Vermont and purchased our 1st vehicle, a 2006 Ford Explorer. It ran past 250k until it was totalled by another vehicle. By the end of all this, Carters Cars moved to Shelburne Road in South Burlington. So we tracked them down to buy our 2nd Vehicle, a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. After being in that vehicle for two and a half years from being in a Ford Explorer, we really just felt that it wasn't for us and really missed our Ford. So Carter's Cars went and picked up a car specifically for us and boy, they hit the nail right on the head. A 2014 Ford Explorer with everything we said we where looking for and lower mileage than the last. This is our 3rd car and all of them came from Carter's Cars. If you need some work done in the shop, like an under coat for winter, a fresh set of tires, chipped windshield, have a tear in that fresh leather, or simply some low maintenance work that needs to be done, they're your people to call... Carter's cars is there every time when you need them. My experience keeps getting better every time I go in, So if your having a bad day with a bad car, stop down to Carter's Cars on Shelburne Road. They will fix you right up with whatever your needs are. I also like to note that the staff is super friendly and are awesome people to get to know. Dealerships are defined by the people who work and manage them. I bought the SUV I had been looking everywhere for. They had 1 GMC Yukon on the lot. I drove in, saw it around 5pm on a Friday. I drove it off the lot on Sat (the next day) at noon. Im from Florida up here working with UVM on a long contract and needed a vehicle that would perform in the snow and weather up here. In Florida I have a Cadillac Escalade but rear wheel drive. Yhis Yukon is 4 wheel Drive. My 1st 4 wheel drive. Kevin and Chuck are extreamly talented when it comes to selling a car. They are not Used Car Salemen at all. They are good, honest men. Not only am I a car buyer but now I consider them friends. For an out of towner , I could not be happier. I live in Florda and when my contract is up and I go back to Florida, I will never buy a car from anyone else. I will come back up here, buy the vehicle and drive it back. That is how good these guys are. As any used vehicle, when you start driving it daily you notice when something is not right with it. I had 2 issues that I had to have worked on. The automotive guys that work there are excellent and welcoming. I learned a new term from the gentleman that fixed both of the issues on my truck...A reveal is a term used when a customer brings the car back in after they bought it because a problem revealed its self with daily use..These guys just ordered the parts and fixed it on my lunch hour the next day. Literly stopped working on other cars because I was waiting AND....wait for it.....for free! Dealerships and thier owners are usually rude, pompous jerks...it is the people that work for them that make the dealership...Period. Where ever Kevin and Chuck work, THAT is where I will buy my next car!!! Well done guys.

I did not expect to find a buyer for my car from a dealer but they helped me trade it in and get me a car in my budget. I bought my car there, used “as is” and they made sure to take care of any issue free of charge right after I bought it without any obligation to do so. They even gave me a vehicle to use while mine was being worked on. The car dealership you didn’t know you needed in your life!! These guys helped me get into a nice car against all odds. As soon as I called to inquire they were accommodating to my not so great credit score and my bank being reluctant to give a loan again. My vehicle for trade had some lengthy repairs needed- they took the vehicle in order to get me into a more reliable vehicle. Not for any reason! Just to help ME. Now, where can you find that kind of service?! I am blown out of the water at just how helpful these guys were. At first my bank denied for the vehicle I wanted.. but these guys went above and beyond to have me approved by taking my trade and offering more to my bank in order to make this happen for me. I was so shocked and happy because I got a great vehicle that I love!! After offering a free oil change for me, Austin even took the car and filled the tank while I was getting insurance switched over. He then laminated my card, and then on top of that he helped me empty my car of the heavy things in it... some tires and installed the car seat !! 10/10 would recommend this great used car dealership.

Soon after buying the car, it experienced a significant issue that hadn’t been identified by Carter’s Cars. My husband and I just purchased a Toyota Corolla yesterday from Carter's Cars and worked with Austin Mayo. This was actually my first car and therefore my first experience purchasing a vehicle. Austin was very helpful, but more importantly, very transparent about the whole process. He informed us about the condition of the vehicles they accept (which was very reassuring) and the thorough processes that the vehicles undergo before it becomes apart of their ready-to-sell inventory. Their vehicles also pass a state inspection before it's added to their inventory, so it was nice that we didn't have to worry about taking it to a third-party mechanic to get checked out. It was also evident that Austin knows what he's talking about, which made our decision to buy much easier. The rest of the staff at Carter's Car were very friendly as well. Lastly, it's worth noting that if you purchase a vehicle here, you won't have to make a separate trip to the DMV. We were able to take care of all the paperwork at Carter's; it's a one-stop-shop essentially. They can also connect you with a company for car insurance while you're there, though we opted out. So after a couple email exchanges and a couple hours at the dealership, I happily drove home in my new vehicle! All in all, it was a great experience. I highly recommend checking out Carter's Cars' inventory and working with Austin if you're looking to buy a used vehicle that's in a great condition.

I recently purchased an Audi Q5 from Carter's Cars. It's been a long time since I've purchased a used car from a dealer so I was apprehensive. However working with Austin and Jason set me at ease through out the transaction. They understood my priority getting back on the road, even equipping car with snow tires at a great price. The little things make the difference. After I purchased the car I noticed something moving in the corner of my eye. It was the passenger visor not clipped and secure. I noticed the clip was missing, broken off. When Austin called me to check in on the car and how it was going I mentioned the clip. He had already ordered it a week or so before and it was on the Service Manager's desk waiting for me to come in finish some paper work and install the clip. Starting to think maybe it's not necessary buying a new Audi after all. I have purchased two new Audi's and while I think some of the best engineered cars and addicting to drive the initial quality when new was not what I would expect from my experience. These guys are honest and can be counted on at times I've been brushed off by other dealerships. They were very direct with what I was getting with an inexpensive SUV and were efficient with the sales process. When it became clear that the shop which inspected the car before it was traded to Carter's failed to fix things which really should have been caught and left the SUV unsafe to drive, Carter's stepped up and made it right even though they had no obligation to, that's class. For starters if your looking to buy a car you must come to Carters Car first, they have a wonderful staff. I came all the way from Florida in hopes of a great deal, as promised Kevin and Christie both delivered got me in a nice vehicle well below book value so I definitely got my money's worth. Best car buying experience of my life (and that is NOT what I expected when I realized my family needed a car in the middle of a pandemic). From my first phone call to the shopping to the paperwork, the entire thing was a breeze. Because I'd called ahead and spoken with Kevin, our salesman Austin knew who we were, what our situation was and exactly what we were looking for when we walked in the door. I was expecting to explain everything again, but didn't need to -- Austin was already prepared and ready to show us what he had on the lot that met our needs. Normally when you give a budget range, you expect to see cars at the top end but Austin had no qualms about showing us cars that were well below our maximum. Again, not a "normal" car buying experience (in the best way). We left an hour later, new owners of a perfect Subaru and with a few thousand dollars in the bank that we'd expected to spend. WOW. On top of that, he was friendly, took the time to chat with my 3 & 5 year old and engage them in the process. Austin immediately showed us the perfect car and when we said we needed to see a few more (just so we didn't buy the first and only car we saw) he was ready with 5 more. We went with the first car he showed us (again, it was the perfect fit) and he immediately provided the Carfax and service report -- we didn't have to ask, he just printed it out and handed it over. WOW. He was friendly and efficient, got us in and out in an hour, took time to give local recommendations and made sure we knew that Carter's Cars would be available for any servicing in the future. This is just NOT the type of service I'm used to, which means I'm gonna have a hard time ever buying a car anywhere else. This is a HUGE thank you to the entire staff -- Austin, Kevin and Chuck -- who made this experience easy, efficient and saved us big bucks. My wife and I were put in an urgent situation where we needed to find a new car within a few days because we found out our current car wasn't going to pass inspection due to holes in the floorboard. We entered Carter's cars on Thursday May 21st. On Saturday May 23rd we drive away with a newer, safer car. Chuck made sure to take care of any of our concerns with the new car. Including a little body work that was needed, wheel alignment, and some other minors issues. We were given a fair price and incredible customer service. Carter's Cars really took care of me. They were open and honest about the vehicle I was interested in, and worked with me on buying it. They were very honest about the condition of the vehicle when it was traded in, and openly disclosed what they needed to do to it to get it into the condition that I was buying it. Once things moved forward there was an unforeseen issue with the vehicle and they quickly and efficiently fixed the problem, with no pushback and no cost to me. This is what you want in a dealership. Over the years I've been involved in the negotiating and purchasing of multiple vehicles for personal and business needs, new and used. I've walked out of bad dealerships and on bad salesman. If you're paying, especially for something important and expensive, then you want the experience to be good all the way through. My experience at Carter's Cars was very good. The sales staff (Chuck, Kevin, & Tim) were professional, considerate, friendly, diligent, and ready to deal. They worked hard on even the small things. When I went to look under the used car I was there for they immediately offered to put it on the lift for me. I am writing this LONG-overdue review after experiences with Carter's over the last 3 years or so: I went to Carter's to buy my first car in 2018, nervous and alone. I was helped to pick my 2012 Corolla by Tim, who was energetic, kind, and knowledgeable. I got plenty of time to look on my own, test drive, and make my own decision without feeling pushed. The car even came with both a set of all-seasons and snow tires! After 8 months of driving, my Corolla's engine literally melted into itself. Carter's allowed my car to be towed there. Chad, in the Service department explained to me exactly what he was seeing--and that he's never seen it before. (And I even got a second opinion to confirm that this was a FREAK accident, because I am a very cautious individual.) Not only were they incredibly compassionate, but they allowed me to use one of their cars as a rental (for free) while it was being looked at AND offered me a very preferential deal on another car. You may be reading this saying, "Wow, did they sell you a lemon and got you to buy another car?" But no, because they went above and beyond what could be reasonably expected from any dealership ever: They actually paid off the rest of the Corolla loan for me, so that I could start fresh with a 2013 Civic. This all happened right before my wedding (so I was stressed!), and was all handled by Carter's within just a few days. I adore my new-to-me Civic and bring it in to Carter's every time there's an issue (only minor, expected ones so far!) They offer amazing deals and quality of work on their service. Chad is so kind and clearly has a ton of experience, as well as Tim in Sales. I recommend Carter's to everyone because they actually seem to care about YOU and YOUR CAR. My husband is from Montreal, and I'm from small town South Carolina. I've been to dealerships and service shops literally all over the east coast, and have never felt better than when I'm at Carter's. (And Kevin's adorable poodle does not hurt either, haha!)

My previous car's transmission was shot and I was in the market for a new car. I found Carter's Cars and told them what I needed in a vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised when they found a pickup truck that met the specific needs for a hobby taxidermist such as myself. The vehicle came with plenty of extra storage under the bed that would be perfect for transporting supplies. That as well as it being an easy place to spot clean as well! I've had the truck for a couple weeks now and had zero issues. Put more than 2,000 miles on it. Went off roading, through ice and snow, and just casual rides. Not a single problem! Had my mechanic look over it. He was surprised at how clean the undercarriage was and how well maintained the vehicle was under the hood. I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend them!

A few months ago I got an amazing deal on a 2016 Honda Civic with low mileage. I worked with Austin Mayo and had a great experience. In the past, I felt as though I was getting pushed into certain vehicles at dealerships to help with certain sales goals. But when I went to Carter’s I didn’t get that impression at all! Austin listened to what I was interested in and was patient as we went on a few test drives before I made a final decision. If you’re looking for a reliable vehicle at a price you can actually feel good about when you drive off the lot. Carter’s Cars is definitely the place to go. **Need to add to my additional review post from several months ago. The entire sales team is still fantastic but I have to give a shout out to the service department. I had a Uhaul put on the back of the Jeep Grand Cherokee my girlfriend ended up purchasing from Carter's a few months back. The lighting on the trailer wasn't working for whatever reason. Chad and the rest of the team were quick to help trouble shoot the issue since I was due to move the next day. After running some tests, Chad figured out that I needed to go to Goss Jeep to have code run on the computer system for the vehicle which he didn't have on site. He even told me a person to ask for that he knew personally would be able to help me. If that wasn't enough, it being my first time driving a vehicle with a Uhaul on the back. He took the time to actually get in the Jeep and show me how to properly back up in it and what to do if seems like it might jack knife. I greatly appreciated that and was able to back out of some pretty tight parking lots (impressing my gf in the process lol). Top to bottom, Carter's Cars will take care of you from the beginning of the car buying process to the end. If anything happens to come up, they are more than willing to help remedy the situation as quickly as possible!**

Now they found a pretty big problem under the vehicle that very easily could have been covered up and I would have never known until the next inspection (year later), but Austin called me and told me what they found. To me that was huge so I went back and he found me another one which is in good condition with a couple miner issues which they are taking care of for me. Now I HATE buying used cars because I have seen so many people burned by used car dealers. But so far these guys are awsome, and I would definitely recommend!

As with any used car you have to do your due diligence. My husband and I just bought our second car from Carter's today. We originally purchased a 2010 Mazda3 from them back in December 2017 to be our second car. They worked with us to get the Mazda for us at a price that we could afford and gave us an amazing deal on it to do it. They also ended up completely replacing the transmission on it a month later at no cost to us even though they sold it to us As-Is. Today we purchased a 2012 Nissan Versa to replace my 2006 Toyota Camry that we unfortunately had to get rid of due to a minor accident that pushed her into the too expensive to keep any longer category. Carter's again gave us an amazing discount on the sale's price of the Nissan, gave us an impressive $1000 on our trade, and just all-together worked hard to find us a car that would work for us and our budget. Carters sold me my car and helped me with financing at a great rate for a first time car loan. Sales guyse were super helpfull and not pushy at all. The car has been rock solid. I had one small issue after purchase and they fixed it completely free of charge! Since then then i have had them do all of my inspections and maintainance. The service team is great and fairly priced. They even agreed to stay late on a saturday to do an inspection before the end of the month. I want to share my comment about Carter's Cars service department. They recently stepped up their service by bringing in a new highly skilled and trustworthy service manager. Chad Bushway has been servicing and repairing my cars and truck for over a decade. He does great work at reasonable prices, and he stands behind his work. He has saved me lots of money over the years. Most recently, he diagnosed an electrical problem on my aging F-250 pickup truck. The battery and charging system checked out perfectly. The problem: a faulty cable -- a simple and inexpensive fix. Another mechanic with less scruples could have taken advantage resulting in an expensive repair. I have peace of mind knowing that Chad, with his quiet and focused manner is somebody that I can trust. I recommend that you give Carter's Cars service a try, knowing that Chad is leading the service department.

I bought an Outback from Carter's Cars a couple years ago. That experience was great, so after my son broke that Outback I went back to CC for another car. The car I chose had problems, but CC made good on the 30-day warranty and provided a replacement engine. The replacement engine had problems, so they found another one and put it in. Throughout the process--which was a drag but was not their fault--they assured me that I would be taken care of. I absolutely was, and I know it was at the expense of many hours diagnosing and fixing my car. My car appears to be fine now, but if it turns out not to be, they will help. A friend of mine recently told me of a place that took good care of him, and he's been their customer for 30 years now. CC has earned that kind of loyalty from me.

BEST service, beginning to end! After a long month of vehicle searching, I finally found out about Carter's Cars from Google. I had many different experiences while searching at other dealerships, most of which were disappointing. I walked in to Carter's Cars and was greeted by Chuck Lipke. Chuck pulled up a few vehicles for me that met my criteria. I test drove them all and loved the Highlander. Upon my request, He let me bring it to my mechanic to check it out. My mechanic suggested a couple updates and when I brought it back to Carter's they had no problem with doing the work, free of charge. I asked for new wipers and new tires because I am driving across country. They put on new wipers free of charge and they split the cost of 4 new tires with me. When I was there it was fast easy service and I found the car I wanted and I found out the payment was going to be a little high so I wasn’t going to be able to do it. They knock the price down some which reduce my payments. Also my insurance was really high. It was $151 a month for full coverage and I shopped around and got it down to 138 a month. They called around for me and found me insurance for $74 a month for full coverage. So I was able to get a Honda cross tour 2013. The cars are all Carfax certified. It looks brand new. It rides brand new. I was referred to them through a credit union. Imagine that. Sure enough that’s the place to go. I tried heritage I tried goss dodge I tried Scherer Chevrolet. What a letdown. I didn’t have good credit, not bad credit either just not enough credit. They referred me to the credit union and I was able to secure a loan. While I was there this other guy was pretty happy about buying a car from there as well. He bought a Toyota RAV4, pretty nice one. So I recommend them before you try the big ones. Test drove an 2009 Impreza elsewhere that was cheap, but have a few problems so I wanted to check out my options. First time buying a car. Saw a 2007 Outback here. Staff was as friendly as it gets, and went out of there way to help with little things. Asked if we need anything, came out when the hatch was stuck, let me haggle over the price including taxes and registration, totally accommodating. In fact, after I bough the car, and paid cash so the whole sale was done as far as they were concerned, they noticed I was fiddling on my phone and asked if I needed help with setting up my insurance. Very much above and beyond. Bought as is, but insisted that if I had any problems to bring it back because they want to do right by their customers. By coincidence, my neighbor just barely bought from Carters as well, and had a similar experience. I recommend them, and will be top of my list next time i'm in the market. ::Edit:: 3 months later, I noticed that all my tires were losing pressure way faster then they should as it got colder. Called Carters, and they were swamped for the November holiday, so I figured Id call back in a week or so. Called later, they told me to bring it in tomorrow at 10. Called them next day to say I was stuck at work, they said I could bring it in at noon, no problem. They immediately recognized me, I dropped the car off, they asked me about any other concerns and I went back to work. Few hours later I came back, all 4 tires were re-sealed. They said I was all set, didn't cost me a thing. Nothing but a pleasure to deal with these folks, still highly recommend.

Customer service was great! We had a blast hanging out chatting while paper work was being printed off. Down side. We thought we were getting a good deal. During our own visual inspection everything seemed great for a car of its age. Ran and drove smooth. Then we take it to get an oil change. Through our own machanic. This is where we learn the air filter box bolts were so rusted that they could get it out. We have them fix what we thought was just the bolts. Nope! We had to replace the box itself. The air filter was so old and messed up that it was just a nest. We also learn there is an oil leak and the top engine bolt is cracked and needs to be replaced. These were all existing problems that they failed to tell us about. For that I’m not happy with the car we were sold.
