Reviews of Croton Point Park Campground
Great campground close to NYC. Mostly 30 amp hookups but shady and room between sites. Beautiful county park all around the campground.
Great campground, went with the Scout's and had fun,we stayed in the tent only section but would like to come back with my camper
Beautiful park. 2 playgrounds and lots of open space to run around in, and picnic tables you can bring food too. Gorgeous waterfront setting.
We've been traveling from Texas to Maine and on our way back. This is the BEST RV place we've stayed. The places are well spaced. Amazing walks everyday to Croton Point. We visited West Point (highly recommended. Take WP bus tour) and went to NY city. We were sad to leave. Very relaxing.
Beautiful 500+ acre park with playground, beach, and campground
One of the best places to park your RV and relax. The water and small beach is right near, a kiddie park, it is clean, friendly, well maintained, and just beautiful walking or riding paths. Close to small town if you need anything but come for the serenity and this time of year you get your pick of campground!
Beautiful well maintained campground on the Hudson River. The ground staff are all friendly and hard working. The two gals in the office, both of them named Jen are wonderful and efficient. Love coming here for the summer months! ☀️
This place is amazing!! The manager Jennifer is excellent and goes above and beyond to help. The park is beautiful and always clean. There is so much nature and the bird watching is unbeatable. We travel for a living and hands down this is one of the best parks we've visited. The spaces are a good size everything is well maintained..they will even bring you free firewood. I highly recommend this park and standing ovation for management!!
That is not a picture of Croton Point Park. That is the Croton Gorge approximately 10 mins from the Park.
We loved it! Jennifer was outstanding! Nice and clean place. We came back to our RV very late every night, there was never a problem, it was very quite!
This park is beautiful and the campground is lovely and quiet. We camped in early May and the water in the bathroom is only solar heated and it has been mostly cloudy during our stay so there is no hot water!! There is an older bath house with propane-heated showers near the cabins but they were locked because the cabins are not open yet and the park management decided not to unlock them for us. That is the reason for the three stars.
I LOVED my stay here! Will definitely be coming back. Another campground nearby that we had reserved weeks before waited to tell us that there were no spots available AFTER we drove 4 hours there! We came to Croton very last minute and we got an awesome spot for our tents. Theres places for 2 or 3 cars on every tent site and there's still PLENTY of room for a couple tents! The pool has been closed down for over 10 years but there's a couple of pools in the county if you're willing to pay. The showers and bathrooms are a bit of a walk and there's no hot water. Other than that, we had an awesome time! Great service overall.
Quite honestly one of the best local camping and activity venues I have experienced downstate. The facility is always clean and the staff go above and beyond in every aspect, so much so that one of the staff members, Jen, noticed our front tire was low on air and grabbed a portable compressor to fill the tire! That's above and beyond! The campsites have fire pits with grill tops and Porto pottys right in the tent campground with full service bathrooms , showers (with hot water) just a short walk away.
This review is for the RV sites... My experience here so far has been great, very quite during the week, electricity is great, plenty of water pressure (bring your pressure regulator), price is reasonable due to the proximity to NYC and the train station... You can swim in the river while there is lifeguard on duty.
Although the distance to the train yard is not a problem you can hear a faint train horn every couple minutes and diesel engines humming all day and night.
The reservation system could be improved by an online system without the need to call and ask if they're are available...
The reason for a 4-star review and not 5... Low hanging branches, any 10" rv will rub them (I'm 12ft high), the gate card system is rigged for a small vehicle, any truck or tall vehicle will be difficult to scan your card, and as the gate does not fully open you will likely rub your side against the gate when coming in with your RV... Not super spacious but I stayed in more crowded places...
I'm still trying to find out how to become a seasonal here, there are lots of units that care learly stationary and don't move for a few years at least...
We came from Montpelier, Va., bill and linda lane. Just spent 3 weeks in Nova Scotia. Fabulous! Found the hospitality in Nova scotia refreshing and so very welcoming. They extended themselves to make you feel one of the family. They looked after your every need. So trusting... Everything here was good except for no warmth, hospitality or nice cozy welcome. But the following day the folks ar the park were helpful and friendly. Since we are self sufficient in our camper, we didnt use the park facilities. So not fair to judge the amenities but they looked great. Really wish they would cut back the weeds and shrubs that block the water view. Dont know about you, but a water view is more important to most folks than the quality of food being served. We saw a turtle laying eggs right beside a picnic table. This campsite probably offers more than we can attest to.
Somewhat quite clean not to crowded personal very accommodating
The main thing that this Campground has going for itself is the Metro-North Train that takes you to Grand Central Station. Other than that, it has extremely high water pressure and the bathrooms are kept clean. It has a lot of stray cats that hang out by the trash dumpster which could be alleviated by putting lids on the dumpster. This place could be a 5 Star Campground if the county invested some cash into it.
Great location to catch the train into NYC!
Inside the Croton Point Park. Really enjoyed our stay!
Great location, place clean. Just wish whoever leave bathroom dirty don't ever go back. Just the few messed up for the others.
The bathroom is not as clean as it can be, many long term residents there. Staffs are friendly.
Awesome campground. Tenting, RV hookups, playgrounds, beach, and trails.
Outstanding staff and RV sites. We are having a great time. I highly recommend it!
