My fav campground near NYC. If weather is not perfect, book site with platform as you can easily add tarp on it.
You can checkin till 9pm even though website says 8 and they do sell woods at the checkin window.
Also try to find out location of tape water before dark as it will not be listed in the map.
Be sure to take a hike in Harriman state park. Specially the pine meadow lake trail easy level

Beaver Pond Campground was beautiful! And a great first camping experience. My children and I enjoyed the sights and environment. The platforms to pitch our tents on were greatly appreciated. Even through hurricane Elsa we were able to enjoy. We will definitely be back 🏕
There's showers, bathrooms, beach, picnic tables, fire pits and platforms available at this site.

I had a great experience, we when camping for two days. Beautiful Nature, relaxing nite around the fire. Lake Welch walking distance if you go during the summer, if you stay at the campground you don't have to pay entrance fee.
The staff maintains the are pretty well. Even though is every one's responsiblity to keep the parks clean. Picking up after ourselves helps nature and maintains the beauty of this places.
Fellow campers were kind, friendly and very courteous.
Can wait to go back👍👍🙂🙂🙂🙂

I would have given this campground a 5 star if quiet hours mean quiet and not playing music or operating generators till 1am. The park police makes the final round around 10pm. And after that, it’s upto the campers to follow the rules or common sense.
Post pandemic, the problem is that everyone is into camping without truly knowing the essence of camping. Most new campers are into picnicking - talking loud, playing music, operating generator way beyond the quiet hours. I tried to call the park police around 11:30 pm to make a complaint but there is no one to pick up the call. So, you are left on your own.
Other than that, the campground is better than what I expected. There is a private access to the clean beach, bathrooms are clean, wash basins are accessible and many hiking trails near by.
If you prefer quiet campgrounds, book the W site. It’s new, has more privacy and away from the main campsites which is A-F blocks. A block is little crowded and could be noisy sometimes. Also, go for the one with platform if you with kids.
Each site has fire pit, picnic table and tent spot (platform if you go for it). It’s a take in and take out campground. Perfect for family to escape the city life.

Noisy at night. A group of people partied until 12:30. Other than that, the beach is big and beautiful. But it’s currently shutdown to address some algae issues. The sites are not very far from one another, good for group gathering. The staff members are very friendly. They came yo inform us about bear appearance and what to do. Overall it’s a nice experience for us and the kids.

We really enjoyed our stay, there were not a lot of campers around us when we went. The fire pit was very large. There were plenty of hiking and biking trails. We would come back!

Its a good family camping area yes there are many people close together but it matters who is near you. If you have a great bunch of nice campers with you its awesome if you have loud ones its bad. Everyone was quiet at 11pm. The staff are wonderful and helpful. There are bathrooms and showers and a community sink for washing dishes and getting water.

I love it here I camp here every year I usually camp here with my godmother and her family in section c or d section I really don’t like because I hate when tents are on ramps and section a has ramps for your tents because it’s a very rocky area. there is a lake/ beach which is nice it’s not too crowded it’s lovely and in section a There’s a path which you can go through and it leads you to a beautiful river and waterfall that comes from the lake

Not many attractions within walking distance but the campgrounds are very spacious. Plenty of sink areas to wash dishes, showers are kept clean for a camp site. We did see some wild life also. A deer ran through our camp area and some chipmunks were running around.
