Customer service is always awesome at this store. Staff was very knowledgeable, helpful, and patient while helping me and my son pick out our packs. They gave us several tips that made the trip more enjoyable. I made several visits to this store while getting ready for my hiking trip, and always had a good experience with the staff. I even had to exchange a couple of items, and it was a breeze. Some items were more expensive than if I would have bought online; but others were quite a bit cheaper at the store. Regarding the comments about masks, I do agree that this store was a little over-the-top about enforcement; but the mask mandates are over for now. It's time to move on.

I wish I could remember names, there were two gals I spoke with on the phone and two guys that helped me at the store. Everyone was very helpful and very personable. I was so impressed. They were all very knowledgeable. I would say you have a great crew at the REI in Wichita, Kansas.

This is probably one of the best REI in the country! Brand new with super helpful staff - Carlos and Zach answered all my questions in search of the perfect shell jacket. Anyway, Wichita is lucky to have such a well run store! Plus their return policy is one of the friendliest out there.

Outstanding Customer Service!! This is the absolute best and smoothest experience I have had with a return in years. And, for big ticket item. I joined REI when I purchased my ORU INLET (which is awesome) folding kayak and thus received a substantial discount This was in March of 2022. I took it south of Udall and rode with it down the Arkansas river. Although it was a beautiful day and the scenery was magnificent, the kayak had some damage. When I called to inquire about warranty information, I found out I was covered for a replacement for a year. CARLOS helped me through the entire process and kept me informed on a daily basis when I would receive my replacement kayak. I definitely wanted a replacement, since I had received such a good discount. REI had it shipped to my front door and week later, I am back out at the lake. Thank you, Carlos and the entire team, at REI Wichita for a pleasant experience!! Just a note; the kayak performs great; the river was low and I really got hung up in the sand. I have been to many other Kansas lakes and to Beaver lake with it and encountered no issues.

Everything you could want under one roof! This location opened up approximately 2 years ago before the pandemic struck. The store was busy with casual and very determined shoppers when I was there. Get your bike worked. Get fitted for a backpack. Buy a packaged meal. The only thing a think was missing from this huge place was kayaking items. But hey, I could have just missed them. I didn't sign up for the membership this time, but a helpful associate explained it to me. A 1 time fee if 20 bucks and you will get the privilege of being able to buy from the garage and clearance racks. If you are on a limited budget they are worth a look. Average was about a 50% discount. The merch IS pricey. If you are going to be a frequent shopper, get a membership so you can get discounted merchandise. If you have been meaning to go it will be worth the effort.

Zach (Zack?) at the Wichita store did a great job of helping me in selecting some new hiking shoes! I'm currently in a walking boot due to a foot injury and I needed something on the other foot that would balance out the height of the walking boot as well as be a good overall shoe to provide stability and comfort. Zach listened to what I needed, sought out options, and ordered a pair to be delivered directly to my home. I am very pleased with the shoes and his level of service! We have previously bought shoes at this REI; I didn't think to get the gentleman's name that helped us then but we had an exceptional experience that time as well. The employees in the shoe dept at this store are wonderful!

We wanted to push ourselves further from the daily walks and try hiking. So we came here to find out more about that. That’s when we met Tim, an experienced staff member who shared so many backcountry stories with us. We further fell in love with getting out and going on adventures. I purchased my very first trail runners here. REI is a great place for anyone interested in getting to know more about outdoor activities. We left the store with great advices and a promise to come back and share our memories.

I love having an REI in town and have been many times now. Each visit I encountered friendly staff and a good selection. I found some really good deals with “garage sale” items on top of membership deals and the dividend. While it brings the star rating down, the reviews complaining about REI enforcing its mask policy actually give me a higher appreciation for the store. All in all I look forward to spending my money at such a store.

Ridiculously excited to have a local REI. I'm probably not a huge spender compared to some patrons, but appreciate the customer service I receive anyway. They're always happy to explain merch or help me shop for something new I'm thinking about. We usually pop in to the garage sale / sale section and are always happy when we come away with something cool.

Ordered a cargo box to be delivered to this store. It was delivered on the date promised and I picked it up the next day. The staff did most of the installation on my car and gave me pointers and tips. Great store and wonderful staff on all our visits. We've even been advised that a shirt we were looking at was going on sale the next week, but if we liked the color go ahead and get it now, then bring the receipt back to get credit when it went on sale.

So happy to finally have an REI in Wichita. Customer service is awesome every time I go. Shoutout to the Bike Shop and Austin the bike tech - he not only fixed my bike, but explained how to fix it and gave me pointers so I can fix the problem myself. He went above and beyond by not only fixing my derailleur, but noticed that my chain needed some service and went ahead and fixed that too. He gave me so many pointers on how to maintain my bike and answered all of my questions. I’ll definitely be using the REI Bike Shop for everything from now on.

I went in with a few questions about the difference in roof racks and left with a ton of knowledge. Martin spent around 45 minutes answering my questions, showing me the difference in models, and helping me figure out which models I needed. At the end, he wrote down the models I needed to order and showed me which locations had them in stock. He was a great help and was very friendly! The Wichita location has some rockstar employees and are doing a great job. Thanks Martin!

First time in an REI and the one in Wichita did NOT disappoint. All of the staff were great! I ended up becoming a member thanks to Jack who also helped me in the shoe department. I had my eye on some blundstones for a while and he helped me get the right ones for sure. A couple hundred dollars later and I’m ready for my upcoming Colorado trip!!!

Let me start by saying that the only reason it's not 5 starts is that it's a smaller store in a smaller market. Other than that, this is a great store with incredible employees. I've yet to use the membership to the max of it's benefit, but I'm looking forward to it. I've always received immediate attention after walking in, but never feel hounded. The employees are passionate about the outdoors and adventures they are selling. Great store with great people!

The bike shop did a great job. I had an E bike with internal gears in rear hub. I got the parts from the company I bought the bike from and the installed it. In and out in just over a day. Bike works great. They adjusted the breaks and i was very happy

My husband and I had an excellent experience getting fit for a pack, learning about sleeping bag ratings, and we learned a tremendous amount from Zach (and other staff at the store) who were excited to help us prepare for an upcoming backpacking adventure. We left the store much more confident with our plans and that we have solid gear. It is well worth buying good gear that fits rather than cheaply made stuff that could put a damper on a trip.

Went in yesterday (3/29/23) looking for hiking shoes. I work in a warehouse on concrete floors and have managed to destroy my ON sneakers in two months. Figured hiking shoes would be sturdy and light. I was looking at shoes when a young associate named Zach approached me. I do not have enough nice things I could say about Zach. He was beyond knowledgeable about the REI's products. He was a great listener, and recommended some amazing shoes for me. I did not feel pushed to buy anything and enjoyed his personable nature. I could tell Zach cares about his job, and that is a rare quality these days. 10/10 would recommend

I had some issues out on a bike ride and rode into this REI. The bike shop manager and staff were extremely kind and we had conversation while they fixed my bike up. When I attempted to pay for materials and labor, they refused and instead told me to get back out and ride! I will definitely be back!
