Reviews of Hains Point Picnic Area
OMG, I haven't been to Hains point in years and it was great. The upkeep of the park has been awesome. My family and I had an awesome time. We ate, fished, and had great laughs. The weather was perfect. It was so good to be able to introduce my kids to a DC old classic and it not be ruined. Now, I wish they would re-vamp the mini golf place because it needs new greens. All in all...great day at Hains Point!
Well if you are looking for peace, this is the place. Must visit during early summer to see Cherry blossom here. This place is not much crowded as compared to the Tidal Basin Point. You can enjoy the serenity here for sure
Place has been pretty awesome so far. And some pretty spectacular views as you can see. Come see all DC has to offer with nature and wildlife included.
Great place to get away from the city without leaving the city. Restrooms are usually clean and well stocked with toiletries. There are beautiful grounds for everything from having a family cookout to fishing or a game of minuture golf. There's also a great clubhouse restaurant and a complete 18 hole golf course.
Went to catch the sunset but will do some laps on my bike just not tonight.
Great place to view cherry blossoms. Its a truly beautiful place to visit. Its quiet peaceful and aloof from the crowds flocking DC.
On the back of this book, it says, “The inmate with a mop / held back the inmate / without a mop.” I almost feel like I shouldn’t say anything else about this book, but I will. It has very little to do with inmates; except, as soon as I see that written, I’m thinking that it has everything to do with inmates, and that we’re all always inmates to something, and that the whole world is helping other inmates out, or not. So, maybe that’s exactly what this book can do. Sam and Sheila are boyfriend and girlfriend, sort of. Not a lot happens in this story; in fact, you could read it and say that it’s about nothing. But then you can’t stop thinking about it, so it must be about something. It’s supposed to be semi-autobiographical. And, if you know anything about Lin, you know that he’s constantly being a subtle genius. People understand him. This book reflects an alternative youth culture that tests the mainstream. Sam gets thrown in jail for shoplifting, more than once. He’s vegan. Life is repetitive. Pretty soon you’ll ask yourself what you’ve done today, this week, this year.

I have been coming to this park since the age of 2 yrs old and now 42 and was there last night ...love Haines point
This place is amazing. They a playground for kids, plenty of picnic areas. And the view of National Airport
Just here to fish and enjoy life. It was great
Great spot to see airplane takeoff and landing
The views are beautiful and relaxing. This spot is perfect for children, families or groups. There are jungle gyms, picnic tables and public restrooms. My office had our wellness day there. It was great. There was enough parking and plenty of things for us to do: tennis, golf, kickball, run, bike, walk or rest. The kids and dogs on leashes enjoyed the play area. Great place for the price and the views. The only thing missing were hammocks! Remember to bring your grill!
A beautiful peninsula with the Washington channel on one side facing the wharf and on the other side of Potomac River across from national airport. It has tennis courts golf course and a mini golf course great place for barbecues walking and a nice playground for the children
The MOST Peaceful place in a hectic city! Easy free parking (except for large city events like the cherry blossom festival) Beautiful view from all sides, 9 hole golf course, safe, well lit, great for walking, running 👟 and 🚲 biking! Good playground for children too. I Love this spot! …
Very nice area, beautiful scenery, nice playground for children. Never really crowded. Nice nice area, mini golf, cayak rental, boating, canoeing, fishing, bike riding, roller skating, blanket picnicking, bathrooms, slides, playground area, very Serene, nice people patronizing the park, police patrol but don't bother visitors. I take my daughter many times a week, month and year. We feed the ducks and birds and go to the playground. We watch planes take off and land on the southern side of the park. She's had fun on get bike, scooter, feeding ducks, reading books on a pic but blanket after lunch, taking pictures, waking, jogging, running, racing and having natural free fun!! Bring your child like SPIRIT. Monument visible for pics from the park area. Close to Jefferson memorial, cherry blossoms and paddle boat rental. Enjoy
the best to go out with the family very healthy with a lot of hygiene tranquility it is recommended to have fun with the family
I have been coming to Hains Point for over a decade now. It used to be a lot more secluded and quiet but it gets very crowded now. However a lot better than any other public park in DC. You get amazing view of Reagan National Airport and Potomac river. Great place to go to for cherry blossom if you dont like large crowds
Ths place is a favorite for me and my family. I have been going to Hains Point since I was a child and now the next generation loves going there as well. It brings up memories of good times with my my grandmother, mother and step brother who are no longer here with us. This place will always be special to me as I start new memories and fun times there with my grandson and my nieces and nephews . A place to relax enjoy each other's company and grill some delicious food.
The best place to fly a kite in the area on a open field next to the Potomac River where the winds blow through (where the Awakening Statue use to be), and such a beautiful sight at sunset over looking the water. I really love to take my foil power kites out there and I love spending time with my girlfriend there too. Also, there are a lot of locals who like to bring out their coolers and fish, so that is a recommendation if that is your thing. In Spring during the Cherry Blossom Festival, Hains Point is a great resting place after hiking around the Tidal Basin, just another reason to visit the area. FYI, be careful of hitting bikers around the roads.
When I'm stressed, I just drive to to Hains Point, park my car, drink coffee, read some book while overlooking potomac river once in a while. So peaceful. Avoid holiday day tho.
Beautiful, Peaceful and Lovely Park. I've been visiting here since I was kid. It's always nice to see people of all ages and races enjoy life, like it's supposed be!
Very nice with picnic tables, grills, restroom facility, playground for children and a nice view of the river.
Truly a beautiful place to go bike riding, walking or running. Very peaceful. Great place to also sit and relax and feel the breeze.
Nice visiting and fishing place.
I love running around Hains Point. The views along the water are beautiful, and for some reason it is never crowded here. It's also a great place to have a picnic or just hang out with friends. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. It can be a bit dirty along the edge of the water as this area occasionally floods and when the water recedes the trash from the Potomac River is left behind.
Hains Point used to be more of a destination before the city moved the larger-than-life Great Awakening statue to National Harbor, but it is still a lovely place to visit -- especially with children. There are two large playground structures, with ample parking, a large gated grassy area containing picnic tables, and free restroom facilities during the spring and summer months. You can watch airplanes take off from National Airport, fish off the point or fly kites in the field surrounded by cherry trees loveliness in April. This is definitely an underappreciated spot in the DC area - bring your camera when you visit!
It's a great place to watch the planes take off and land also fishing and picnicking if there is heavy rain more than likely they will close it because it floods badly
This is a great place to have a picnic in the DC area that's relatively close to all the hustle and bustle. Has a great view of Reagan National Airport you can see the planes come in and take off just kind of a fun overall place I would have read the area when it's windy.
Perfect place to meet family and friends.
During Cherry Blossom season, this is a wonderful alternative to the main chaos of the Tidal Basin. There is a playground, picnic tables, and grills available for use at no cost with bathroom (albeit aged) facilities onsite.
Parking is usually pretty easy to come by. The area does appear to flood (by a recent visit) and the sidewalks along Hains Point that edge the rivers is in desperate need of replacement (not just repair). If you are in the playground park area though, great place to hang out for a day and picnic!
This area has picnic tables, parking for cars and commercial buses, and restrooms. There is a children's playground area. You can fish, bike or hike, and a golf course nearby. You get views of boats traversing the river and views of nature as the seasons turn.
Beautiful location! Plan ahead, and watch out for disrespectful fisherman leaving garbage on the picnic tables. People cleaning fish on the picnic tables is beyond not cool.
Great park lots of space. Good fishing spot or just family picnic.
It's nice to see the helicopters and fisherman. You can also park a motorcoach for free there during the day. The racoons come out at night. Very funny but true. Life is real.
I really liked the park. The view is nice!.. It has plenty of space and the parking is free. The best is that there are 4 bathrooms locations.
Hang out in the park twice weekly.
One of the more comfortable locations in Washington DC good spot to get away from the main city area, or pull off to relax for a bit.
Spent some time here for a cookout. Quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Good for fishing, long walks, nice playground for the kids, tennis courts and public restrooms.
Great views and abundant parking. Completely surrounded by waters makes for great views. Grab a friend and a blanket and spend a good day together with your significant other.
Peaceful. I enjoy the charter/tour bus parking that Haines Point allow for bus operators. A definite plus. Haines Point, needs repair work to portions of the aging walking paths. I still love Haines Point though❤
Hains point is very nice. Great view. I over river of DC. So come on down And get ready to , BBQ.
So peaceful a great place to chill with your family wife or girlfriend
Nice place to walking and picnic
This place ia good for walking and to relax while not getting ate up by the mosquitos..bring plenty of bug spray and sun screen ..
Great place to go with the family for a great picnic, or by yourself for relaxation and a peace of mind. Definitely will be returning for years to come.
Nice area to bring a basket and food in DC. Has restrooms but not the cleanest.
I love it there 😍 …
It was better before the national harbor took The Awakening statue... great place to run, roller blade or ride a bike!
A great place to cook out, watch the aircraft from Reagan land and take off, enjoy the skyline from DC and Virginia.
I enjoy eating lunch and watching the boats and planes. Restrooms are usually fairly clean
For this spot my suggestion is to get a lunch or dinner to go from the nearby fish market and enjoy it here while watching aircraft arrive and depart from Reagan.
A great place to just sit and think about things I love to come and watch the boats and the ducks on the water.
Love it
Great place to have a weekend picnic. I love the river view, people watching, and fishing.
Great views of Waterfront, peaceful, and secluded away from the city. It's like a mini vacation to the non existent country side of DC
Peaceful and minimal people walk down here. A great time to do it is during the Cherry Blossom Festival.
I really like this place when I was in town I walked around the hold place no one bothered me and when I return back in town I will walk there again.
Wonderful place to do picnics, amazing view of our nation's capitol!
Nice place to hangout for picnics or even go for a walk by the riverside under the trees.
Always a great weekend to get away and unwind. Plus fishing for fun!
I was trying to get the pinic area with playground! But was directly across from it and it was lovely. I really loved it.
Lots of space and great environment.
Great place for cycling and a wonderful view during the cherry blossom festival.
Hains Point is so BEAUTIFUL!!! Take your family there with a blanket and some food and enjoy the scenery!
Wonderful place to go to. Nice scenery.🙋 …
Great place to bring a blanket and watch the planes land across the Potomac. Lots of fishermen out here!
We love to come here chill, barbeque and fish with the family.
Beautiful scenery... especially at night. Enjoy the stars, planes, and your company.
Thank you park service for giving us a beautiful place to seek peace of mind and enjoy life .

Lots of space to play, playground area, restrooms and shady trees!
A peaceful spot along the Potomac. Pack a picnic and enjoy.
Great view of sw water front
Right on the Potomac river. No fees, cool place to picnic or watch fireworks
A plenty of available fishing area for large Blue Cats.
Wonderful place in the City...
A lovely picnic spot, but limited table space
Go here if you want to see birds in DC during migration
100% better than 15-20 years ago
Order your food from Dc Wharf and enjoy the park
This is one of my favorite place in DC.

High water will destroy a beautiful park

VERY RELAXING
Beautiful place
If you live in the district, don't get mad, but this is by far my favorite area to find some peace in a crazy day in the Nation's Capital!!
Just historical
The west side of the island is very suitable for watching planes take off and land at Reagan Airport. It is also a good place for bicycles and running, with convenient parking and few cars on the road.
Beautiful Park to enjoy with your family, with your partner or just to walk, there is a lot of parking and you can settle in anywhere, the view is very nice. I definitely recommend it
Great place to relax
I bought a fish sandwich and soup at the fish market across the river, moved here, and had lunch.
The taste and scenery of the sandwiches eaten while sitting on a bench in the wide lawn and enjoying the cool breeze of the Potomac River were superb.
Parking lot is also ample.
Spectacular place. It has a nice view of the river. There are many spaces to use. And you can have a picnic and don't forget to bring a grill to roast meat
I love it sings very beautiful
