Reviews of Upper Tampa Bay Park
Berlin 1987
What a beautiful litte place. If you like to explore nature trails, there are three of them, all well below a mile. So this is not the place for hours of "hiking"/walking. Perfect for families with small children, with short trails, a playground and an educational nature center. Great launch pad for your own kayak, as well as available rentals. The ranger offers maps for on land as well as on water excursions. As previously mentioned by others, there is a $2 admission fee. Consider it a very small donation to preserve a beautiful piece of nature.
James Faurote
One of our favorite parks. On a nice day we walk the trails. You can drop your canoe and explore the mangroves and inner bay. Always see cool things while we are here.
You can rent canoes and kayaks. They have a little nature center that shows a lot of native species.
Bring your dog and enjoy the space. Worth the $2.
Rekha Hebballi
Well maintained park. Park Rangers are very friendly, they regularly empty the trashbins. Its very helpful, especially when we are hosting parties, get to gethers. Shelters need to book in advance. Otherwise small benches are also available for small family hangout. Trails are very nice. Entry ticket is $2. It has one nature center, mini aquarium kind of. Very informative, also we can see Snakes, turtles, some fishes too.
Hugo Stackel
Absolutely loved this park, it's a real jewel. We hiked the three trails: Bobcat, Otter, and Eagle. Each trail is different and enjoyable. The Bobcat Trail meanders through a salt barren, very pleasant. The Otter Trail skirts a salt marsh. The Eagle Trail passes through slash pines and palmettos. All of the trails feature well maintained boardwalks. On each trail you will find placards describing the wildlife: Black Vulture, Eastern Coral Snake, Oppossum, Armadillo, Cotton Mouth Snakes, Gopher Tortoise, and others. All of the trails are well maintained and very walkable, kudos to the park staff. Near the Otter Trailhead there is a nature center and canoe and kayak rentals. The park features many attractive shelters, a volleyball court, and playgtounds. The hiking trails are suitable for anyone in average shape. There is a $2.00 fee to enter the park, which seems fair when one considers all this beautiful park offers. We found parking to be no problem. I would love to visit this gem again, it's excellent! Highly reccomend!

Good park but bad management. My 10 years old nephew can draw a better map than what they have. I had to go in to see which shelter is close to the play ground. It looks like shelter 1, 2 and 3 are close by. Shelter 7 is far away from kid's playground. lot of nets were biting us, so bring bug Spray no matter when you come.
Carol DeAbreu
Stunning park. It's so quiet and peaceful. We ended our walk with yoga and light stretches. Plenty of other activities are well. Great for families, couples and folks that just enjoy outdoors
ZRinaldi
Very beautiful, with lots of different trails to take. Personally, the only thing that would help is adding a map of where the trails are, as you have to look for the signs otherwise. Other than that, gorgeous place.
Michael Byrd
Hiking, kayaking, fishing, picnicing, relaxing, and so much more. This place is amazing! Plenty of parking, shelters, and restrooms. Visit the Nature Center to learn more about the flora and fauna living in the area. Rent a kayak! See a Manatee. Bird watch. So. Much. To. Do! Even leashed dogs are allowed in the park. There's a $2 entrance fee, but it is well worth it.

We visit this park fairly regularly as it's close to our house. It's $2 for parking at the front gate. You can do cash or card at the machine. They have hiking trails, boardwalks on the water (you can fish there), a cute little history/info center inside the main building, a nice kayak launch (with a cleaning station and easy access launch dock). You can rent canoes, kayaks and accessories in the main building. Rangers are always friendly and they have community sunscreen and bug spray bottles available at the desk. The butterfly garden across from the main building could use some updating. Overall, it's one of our favorite parks to visit in the area :)
David Guttenplan
So much fun !!! So close to home $2 parking $25 double kayak 4 hour rentals with no reservation if needed so great!
Brian Brillinger
Nice little park. Kind of small for the two dollar entry fee payable at a kiosk at the entrance. Probably a great place to launch canoes or kayaks when the tide is up. Pay attention to tides for your return or you will have a muddy walk to the dock.
Max Pietsch (Max)
I went kayaking upriver, instead of down to the bay, and it was nice I saw mangroves and some open water. The kayaks aren’t sea kayaks, which is what you’d expect. Took me an hour to go up and back, would take about same time is my guess to go to the bay and back. The ranger said you sometimes see manatees and dolphins if you go towards the bay. One nice thing about this park is the water is only 2-3 feet deep for the most part (at least the route I went) and there arent waves because it’s a mangrove, so it’s nice for beginner kayakers who can’t swim like my dad.
Daniel Seror
My friend invited me to go here for canoeing once and it was a really good time. I think it cost $25 per person and you basically have it all day if you rent them early enough. We got there around 12 and started around 1 and had plenty of time before they closed but we didn't need to be on the water that long.
Ted Elliott
Around 2.5 miles of trails that are very easy to travel. Very well maintained. Lots of wildlife and wildflowers.
Also a very nice nature center staffed with friendly and knowledgeable people.
Canoe and Kayak rentals are also available. The word is that the fishing is not bad either.
A nice hidden gem for a family picnic and a pleasant afternoon walk
Ashley
Such a quiet and peaceful park. Gazebos can be reserved. There's a nature center. You can bring your (leashed) dog. Canoes are available to rent. No alcohol is permitted in the park. There's a horseshoe pit, volleyball, playgrounds, and plenty of trails.
jonathan salicrup
Very nice and clean. Good amenities for all type of visitors. Play grounds, gazebos, trails with animal viewing and informative stations with animals details. Down side heavy on mosquitoes. Take your repellent!
Mechell Lord
This is the easiest place I’ve launched kayaks in Tampa Bay. Nice safe park with the nicest rangers they are very friendly, engaging and informative. The number of bird varieties was incredible.
T. Williams
This is great place to take children for a hike, the trails are short and easy to walk. They also have a playground area and places to eat and watch wildlife ✅.
Stephanie Dools
Nice peaceful dog friendly park. Lots of short different style nature trails to walk. Has shaded areas, picnic pavilions, grills, play ground, bathrooms and even a canoe rental. Only $2 to park, worth the visit and will be back.
Steve Bertman
Nice little green area just outside the city. This is a pretty well maintained area with some nice light outdoor activities. Rental boats are available, and the party gazebos seem like a nice place to have a group gathering or party. Standard park activities like playgrounds and horse shoe pits as well. Not a destination in itself, but if you are in the area, it's a good place to spend some time.
K T
Beautiful park in Tampabay, perfect for picnic, walking, playing ground, kayaking
grace
amazing and beautiful park with great rangers, so friendly and they are always up for a conversation i really enjoy coming here
Anthony Coustillac
Beautiful park for kayaking. Took our inflatable kayak out at the launch point and had a dream of an afternoon. Water was calm, the mangroves we're gorgeous, and we even saw a pair of dolphins a couple times. Took about an hour and a half going to the Bay and back.
Will be back to check out the trails and maybe enjoy the outdoor grills
Jeremy Glover
This was a fun place to hike with the kiddos. There are multiple bathrooms that are well kept. If you like to kayak or canoe, you can launch here and also rent them. There's an environmental center with fish. The trails are nice, but make sure it hasn't rained in awhile if you plan to go.
Laura Duplain
My favorite place to go kayaking.
Defiantly recommend going during non peak times. The walk from the kayak drop off to the launch is a little walk but we’ll worth the trouble.
Drop off and pick up is easy, nice kayak wash station, and easy kayak launch area.
Rentals are available along with nearby restrooms.
Many mangrove areas that is great for fishing, be area that the water is affected by the tides.
There are causal smaller boats and air boats that use these waterways but they aren’t typically a Nuisance.
Kim Lewis
Beautiful water trails! So quiet and the launch is super convenient! Easy to access and the gate attendant was very friendly! Water trails are marked and easy to read!
Olivia Aman
Great place to put your kayaks in or rent for a reasonable price!!!! Also the service behind the counter is fantastic!!
Leslie Crider
Love this park and all the trails it has to offer. With that being said, be on the lookout for wildlife... it's definitely out there!
L Setzer
A great place to witness the old Bay and the mangroves and wildlife that used to dominate this landscape. Also there is a great kayak launch point here for fishing and animal enthusiast
michael whitmore
You will love this park and the Rangers are truley some of the nicest people. Ranger B, and all the other Rangers make this park feel welcoming and really special. I am always greeted with a friendly smile. I enjoy all the trails, rideing my Bike and takeing pictures of the flora and fawna.
Ethan Hobbs
Great little park with a lot to offer and only $2.00 to visit for the whole day. (Great place to work too.😉) …
nita ostermann
The tide was low so we did have to walk the kayaks probably a half a mile. Just check the tires before you go. It's a very nice park but a tight canoe launch.
James Imhof
Great place to rent an affordable kayak for a day of fishing or relaxing on the water. The inter-coastal waterway leads out into the bay, it's about a half hour paddle. Well worth it for the natural sights you're able to see. (Fish, manatees, mangroves, etc...)
Gary Martinez
Great kayaking. Very nice park and good staff
Jeremy Miller
The park is kept clean there is a closing time. I enjoyed the few trails they had and a couple boardwalks there's a children's area and pavilions met some really nice people there you are allowed to bring your dog just keep them on a leash. Definitely a cool spot right down the road from where I live I've gone there two days in a row now I will make it a ritual there is a charge of $2 at the front door and there is park police
michelle masters
Love this park and the Rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable. They have nature trails, canoeing and kayaking....fun way to spend a day!
G García
Recently Visited this park, it is beautiful, not crowded and with nice trails. You cam do Kayaking, there are BBQ Shelters, Nature Center, Staff person was very nice.
Napoleon G
Very great site. lots of nature, beautiful landscapes, and endless roads👌👌 …
mseanv
Very nice, well-kept park with clean restrooms and nice rangers.
LINA
Love this park! It is so beautiful and it is on the water
Hugo Castro
Excellent park on the border between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. A small fee to enter with plenty to explore including kayaking among the mangroves, a learning center where you can see the conservation work being done to clean the bay and water ways
JRenee Mosteller
Nice park with easy launch for plastic kayak rentals, however, if you bring your own and its kevlar or other material...launching and re-entering using rolling wheels above the water line may crack your hull. Mine did. Floating dock is high and not conducive for alternative launch. I’d recommend installing alt launch points along the shore or a low rise floating dock for non-rental users.
John Stillwell
I've been coming here for years to fish, hike and play with the kids. Be ready for the "no see ums" the little bugs with a big bite.
The playgrounds are good and there is a big open area to play in. It's also a great place to launch a canoe or kayak. They have cheap rentals too.
The nature center is pretty good also. There are plenty of examples of local flora and fauna. At the time of writing this review they are in the process of updating the property.
Orion Maier
A nice small and quiet park. There are three short trails and kayak launch. Great place to see a large mangrove habitat and all the wildlife that comes with it
Dr Dan Edmunds
Very nice place to hike and enjoy!
Mark Flynn
This park is a SOLID 5. The trails are beautiful, with well-maintained boardwalks. Great inexpensive canoeing and kayaking opportunities exist among the mangroves. I took my kids out in a canoe on Spring Break. It was a memory that will last a lifetime. There are plenty of picturesque picnic spots and open gathering places. And the nature center is top notch. I actually had a staff meeting here. Inside there are learning lessons every where you turn, with real live creatures like snakes, fish, and a beautiful terrapin exhibit. Actually, those terrapin are adorable. This weekend I was there for the Hillsborough County Hiking Spree kickoff party. The Hiking Spree is a recreational challenge that is growing annually in popularity. The kickoff was a blast. Best location for this kind of gathering. Well done.
Ivanna Downes
Gorgeous park for kayaking and canoeing. Rentals available. I simply love it!! Ethan, great park ranger!!
Ric Rini
A fantastic preserve with scenic views of Mobbly Bay and Old Tampa Bay.
There are trails, covered picnic areas, a nature center and canoe/kayak rentals with a launch right on the bay. The trails are a very easy hike and are well established. There are bathroom facilities located in the park. For children a great experience with a large playground area included.
Cost here is minimal at $2.00 per person.
Ramya Kysetti
We recently did my kiddo's third birthday party at the class room and the experience overall was amazing.. The park rangers over there are the BEST. I cannot thank them enough for all the help from booking the room to conducting the live animal show to allowing us to decorate the room previous day.. The party was a big hit.And the facility was well maintained. Thank you everyone. I would recommended this place any time.
Rick Mottola
The park was clean and had excellent signage. The Nature Learning Center is fantastic and incredibly educational. Ranger Allen was a pleasure to talk to, and gave us insight about the area and things to do with a young infant. Parking is only $2.00. Highly recommended.
Nate Mosley
Great park, has a few Trails not too long. Kayak/Canoe launch dock. Kayak canoe rentals. Nature Center was closed due to Covid. $2 entry fee for park
Ashish Ahuja
Nice park specially for Kayak for $25
Kristen Ali
Big shout out to Ranger Brian and Ranger Lucy for saving our dog Max today who was being attacked by 2 neighborhood dogs who made their way into the park during our afternoon walk. They were quick to the rescue and we're very thankful to them for that 🙏 …
Jackie Martin
Beautiful park! I try to take my dog through once a week and we always enjoy our time here. The eagle trail has beautiful sunsets and the rangers are always friendly! Enjoy!
Russ Widger
Park is nice and clean. Gazebos for parties and trails for walking or running... **BUT** rent a canoe or kayak, even if you don't want to. $25 bucks and it's really beautiful. You'll surprise yourself.
J D
I took my nieces today they love the aquarium and having fun playing at the park. At closing time while the rangers were collecting trash Ranger Ethan took the time to answer never ending questions from my nieces. He laughed with them and made their visit just that much better. Hands down one of the best parks out here and with rangers like that it's a win win for family gatherings.
Attorney Ron Frey
A wonderful spot to take a walk outside and get some fresh air.
Garry Grissom
A Tampa Bay treasure! Nature at it’s finest all within a short drive. Ranger Brian is super friendly, helpful and answers all your questions. A must see, take the family and enjoy some peace and quiet on the nature trails.
Abha M
I like the park overall but it's a bit lonely. The play area is good and other amenities are nice too but if they can remove the fees for local people then it would see more people coming in to enjoy the park. Specific amenities can be charged but the play area should be free to access for children.
Kayla Lancaster
Beautiful area. Nature center, trails. Dogs on leashes allowed. Great place to grill out and picnic or hit the trails and see the diverse landscape. Spiders, crab, snakes, squirrels, raccoon, deer and bobcat can be found here.
Greg N
Hats off to Ranger Brian and Micka who assisted my family and I with our canoes. We couldn't have done it without their help. I would highly recommend this park. Great amenities, helpful/friendly staff and clean bathrooms.
Christopher Clubbs
The kayaking is great and affordable. Rangers are super nice and friendly as well (and that's saying something coming from me). Don't go expecting a good trail, but for what it is, it's a nice little park.
John Blind
This trail can be accessed through Hillsborough county park. To access the park, there is a $3 fee. Park and trail are opened during normal sunlight hours. The trail is about a 5-15 minute walk to the dock. With plenty of crabs and possible snakes to see on the way. Normal walking shoes are reccomend.
Jerry Joseph
Nice park. Watch out for the poorly marked speed tables (bumps) the first time you drive in towards the park. The first one is near the Church. If your going any faster than 5 mph you're going to chip a tooth going over them.
katherine hernandez
Beautiful and very relaxing. Just nothing but wild florida at its finest..but a little desolate at times.Very nice park staff.parking is cheap.
Calyb Stebbins
Beautiful park. The visitors center is really cool.
Johnny Dejesus
What a great park to take a walk and see animals in their natural habitat. The nature center is great and they offer canoes and kayaks for rent. Its certainly worth the $2 entrance fee.

What a beautiful park. There’s a $2 entrance fee, but you can tell the park has a larger than average budget for maintenance and upkeep. Would highly recommend.
