Ever since I moved to Florida I remember coming to this beautiful park. It just gets better with age, they do a great job keeping it up. This time I went part of the boardwalk was closed I'm sure due to all the rain, so that wasn't a disappointment at all. Just love coming to a place that can remind me of nice childhood memories. My son loved it here, he rode his scooter the whole way around. Then went and played on the super filled park as there were lots of parties going on. It was a blast nonetheless. Only a 2 dollar entry fee, so that's a nice weekend we'll spent with family 👪 😊 💕

A beautiful park nestled in the Tampa area. The 2 dollar donation is money well spent. The nature center is a great way to start then on to the boardwalk. This boardwalk and observation tower are in my opinion the crown jewels of the park. You will be all but guaranteed to see some amazing Florida wildlife each and every time you come. But make no mistake, the other trails and Canoe and Kayak rentals make this a park anyone can enjoy young or old. And don't forget the picnic areas located all over this top notch park..

What a lovely park. There are paved paths, nature trails, and boardwalks. Public restrooms and water fountains available. Kayak and canoe rentals available.
The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it costs $2 to get in. The cost is not a lot, but there are many parks that are just as great that I don't have to pay anything to enter.
Kristy Varga
Beautiful park! Well maintained with hammock trails, paved trail and a boardwalk. They also have a nature center, plenty of bathrooms, water fountains and dog stations. Lots of pavilions and a play ground. Only $2.00 a car or free with a park pass. We saw a lot of gators today and turtles. A few turtles and fish (pictures didn’t turn out right). Few birds and lots of beautiful trails. The hammock trails (dirt) are a little muddy but still doable.

Definitely worth the time to go around on the boardwalk. Saw turtle eating bread in the water, black-crowned night heron near by the watch tower and saw lots of birds across the lake.. Beautiful place to picnic and spacious too. Clean toilets. Very well maintained park. Thank you for the experience! I love it!

The boardwalk allows you to really get into the lake/marsh and get much closer with nature and see much more than you would otherwise.
This is one of those spots that we always take friends and relatives who are down visiting us. It's in a super easy and convenient location on the outskirts of Tampa.
We've been several times and at different times of the year and we've always seen an alligator or two, a range of birds, and of course lots of vegetation. There are signs a long the boardwalk teaching you about the various fauna and flora, and more can be discovered at the visitor center.
In addition, there's a fun play park for the kids very close to the visitor center.
Jim Slattery
Got to see lots of alligators, including some babies. Cool nature center that is like a mini museum.
Great boardwalk to experience the wetlands and wildlife from above, and a tower with impressive views. Several kayakers we're on the water -- looks like fun, if you don't mind the alligators.
Jessica Boulton
The boardwalk and paved walking trail make this a nicely accessible park. Many people use the park to get some quiet, nature-filled exercise. Call or check the website to see if canoes/kayaks are available to rent, and explore the far shorelines for birds and alligators. Pavilions are available to rent as well.
There's also a large kids playground area. Pets and bikes are allowed in the park, but they cannot go on the boardwalk.
The scenery can be dramatically different if you visit during different times of year, so be sure to come back and see what's changed.

This park is amazing. I drove about an hour from Largo because a random lady who I met in a different park recommended a visit here. I was so glad I listened to her. I saw and photographed so many critters: birds, alligators, turtles, squirrels - even a black cat! This park was so lush and green. I was there the whole day and still didn't get to do everything the park has to offer.

Great place to birdwatch and spot gators.
Large park with boardwalks through the swamp and along the Hillsborough River. I love climbing up the observation tower to watch birds flying over the river and spot gators occasionally below in the clear River. There is a circular hiking and biking trail around the park plus other unpaved trails winding through the woods and around the playground and picnic area.
You can rent canoes and kayaks to spend some time out on the slowly moving River. Rentals are paid for at the entrance booth. Park entrance fee is $2 per car.
In Dec 2021 the boardwalks were a little confusing. They are now 1-way and park of a boardwalk is closed off. The visitor center had a couple signs on the 4 or 5 doors to the building that directed you to use another entrance. All the entrances were locked even though all the lights were on inside. Lots of visitors were walking around the building trying to figure out how to get in. 🤔
Apphia Hilliard
My daughter wanted to see alligators in their natural habitat, and we found this place. Beautiful park, with lots of different trees with info cards and birds. You really do get a one with nature feel here. There was even a playground for the kids.
Gene Wines
Clean park with a long, winding boardwalk and different trails to observe nature and wildlife in their habitat. It was only $2 to enter and park (up to 8 people). Expect to spend at least 2 or 3 hours here walking the boardwalk and spending time at the observation tower, taking pictures if you like, and exploring one or more trails. You really need to look for most of the wildlife, because they naturally blend in with the surroundings. The park seems to close at different times throughout the year, so you’ll need to take that into account when planning to visit. Canoe rentals are available, although I did not explore that option this visit. Currently ranked in the Top 10 most popular things to do in Tampa.

We needed to get a nice walk in an on cool Saturday morning. Have heard many good things about this park and the boardwalk, so today, we gave it a go.
Overall, this is a nice small park not too far from USF. The parking is ample and most of the trails are either paved or park of the boardwalk.
The boardwalk runs along the Hillsborough river, so there was no shortage of fish to see through the brackish waters, and certainly no shortage of gators to view as they sunned themselves.
We wold give this park a 5 star rating, except the trails are very poorly marked. Without the All-Trails App, we would have ended up taking multiple detours.
Also, there is a major concern about the paved trails. Be careful along the edges. In some places there are areas that drops off several inches. We experienced a fall when one of us accidentally stepped off the side of the paved path. The subsequent ankle injury will heal, but it is a cause for concern.
J Mucinski
We were recommended to stop here and do some nature hikes. We decided not to take the dogs because the rules say no dogs on the boardwalk. Which there were alot of dogs on the boardwalk. However this is a very large park with alot of walking trails including the boardwalk.. On our stroll we saw a variety of wildlife native to Florida, including alligators, snakes birds, turtles and large fish. The cost was 2 dollars to get into the park. And if you decide to kayak or canoe, they have the paddles at the front building. Would recommend this park.
Anne Barnes
Very nice park! We had a great time canoeing! Plenty of different birds, turtles and gators to photograph. The employees were all extremely helpful and pleasant. Definitely worth checking out!
Cara Mia
I LOVE this place! I could spend the whole day here! There are paved walk/hike/run/bike trails, nature trails, boardwalk, canoe & kayak rental, rentable picnic shelters, playground, and probably more that I haven't even discovered yet!
J
Nice park to visit…first time going as we just moved here a year ago.
Nice boardwalk trail and views. I was only there for just over an hour as I had to be somewhere else after but saw Barred Owl, Gator and a few other birds. Will be back to trek the whole trail next time.
Good size play park for the kids if you have.
I went on a Friday at 10:30 and it was pretty quiet.
Doug Lee
Loved the boardwalks but trails poorly marked but no worries they all loop back.
It is no Circle B Bar for gators as most are small.
Birds are beautiful and got treated to a couple Pink Flamingos .... To cool
Richard Ezzo
Beautiful park to walk or picnic, lots of shaded trails, an observation tower, boardwalks, paved and dirt trails. The $2 entrance fee per vehicle is very reasonable but the 8am opening time on the weekend seems about an hour late. Would like to get there earlier to enjoy the cooler mornings and the unique views provided during the brief time when the sun is low on the horizon. Great park don't miss it!
E
Beautiful park located right next to usf. Lots of trees, a scenic boardwalk that gives a view of the hillsborough river. You’re very likely to see wildlife of some sort here, whether it’s birds, gators, or turtles. It also has great paved trails, exercise stations, playgrounds, and pavilions. One of my go to parks, often quiet and peaceful, and always pretty.
Bollens
Such a cute park! Beautiful scenery, boardwalk by the water, affordable kayak rentals, a great trail for walking or biking, BBQ grills (bring a picnic!), Etc. Will definitely come back. Only $2 entry.
Cindy Baldwin
Taking advantage of the cooler weather and dropping in at Lettuce Lake Park for a stroll through the different trails, a bike ride, a jog with the exercise stops, a picnic or even a canoe paddle down the river is so refreshing, it allows your mind & body to take a break from our everyday tasks, work or stress. Give yourself that little bit of time, it's amazing how good it feels.
James Duffy
Great kayaking adventure! $25 per kayak for 4 hours of gator spotting was totally worth it. It's safe, just don't try to touch them, enjoy them from a safe distance.
Michael York
Excellent family park. The boardwalk and tower are great fun and well maintained. The nature center is informative and worth looking into while at the park. There is a small playground that would interest younger kids. Canoe and kayak rental is available onsite from the rangers but we did not do that while there, but it would be a good place to paddle. We saw lots of small alligators, turtles, birds, and a snake. It does cost $2 to enter but that goes to supporting the park and its upkeep.
J. K. (JK)
Very nice park, you can see many different animals (alligators, snakes, raccoons, hummingbirds...). Very friendly ranchers. At the visitor center you can watch hummingbirds. Very nice and only $2 entry per vehicle. You can almost save yourself the Everglades.
Rich Dugger
This park has a little something for anyone. A good size playground area for kids, some open fields to allow for some sports, boardwalks along the river for people like me who want to see some nature. There is also a paved trail or two. You can rent canoes and possibly kayaks. (I've gone out on the canoes here.) The River has a great many alligators, and as a native of the area, there seem to be more here than most places I visit.
This is a dark water river but the boardwalks go through some really nice areas of trees and plant life. I always see a few birds, turtles and usually a few alligators. There is also a look out tower along the boardwalks by the river.
There are a few restrictions for the boardwalk areas such as no pets, jogging, etc. Otherwise, a good sized park with many activities. I truly enjoy the boardwalks, one of the best places in this county to see the river from the comfort of a raised dry boardwalk. Certainly a good place for a group or family and with canoe and kayak rentals, there are a lot of options.
Laura
What a wonderful place for a hike, picnic, party. It's nature at its best. Clean restrooms absolutely beautiful. Alligators and babies were in the water. So cool
Crystal Deleon
Such a nice place. Stroller friendly. Nice bathrooms in front of the welcome center. Plenty of rest stops along the trail. A nice playground. $2 cash fee well worth every Penny.
Rajesh
A good nature park with a very well laid out boardwalk makes for easy walking through for all ages. Plenty of biodiversity to see.
Amber Smith
Not the first time I've been to this beautiful park! My favorite part is the boardwalk! Spotted many native wildlife species while walking through. The view from the 3-story watchtower is absolutely stunning! Plenty of places to have a picnic, just be cautious with the squirrels...plenty of signs that say "DONT FEED THE WILDLIFE"! Also along the paths are exercise stations! There are grills, bon fire pits, bathrooms and playgrounds!
Ning Song
One of the best park for hiking around here, really beautiful scenery, shaded broad walk is well maintained, with lots of view points. Highly recommended!
Charlene Trotter
Boardwalk and paved walking trail. Great hike for beginners and families. Saw lots of wildlife on the boardwalk portion of the trail. There is a visitor center, park, and areas to rent for parties. Gets a little crowded on the weekends but not unbearable.
Sir beachy Bumsalot
This park is nestled near the edge of the USF college campus. I was blown away that there's such a treasure of a natural preserve in the middle of the bustling and busyness of a city. There's a little bit of everything here canoeing, bird watching, and even Gators. If you're looking for a nice day out just enjoying nature this is the place to be with the city and all of its businesses are a rock's throw away.
Luke Freeman
Nice park not far from Tampa. Plenty of places to visit, pathways throughout the park for sightseeing.
Opportunities for gators, turtle, snake and bird viewings. Plenty of nice swamp views as well
Lindsey Tuttle-Cox
Nice little park with short and sweet nature trails. I love the boardwalk and enjoy seeing all of the baby alligators during the spring. There is a $2 cash only entry fee, so be prepared for that!
Dina Poma-Barnes
We had a wonderful afternoon at this local park. There were canoe rentals, plenty of covered picnic areas and BBQs for a lunch out, and Lots Of wildlife. We saw our first alligators (6 in fact), a stork, herons, and many more birds and frogs. October/November is a great time to experience this park:)
Nareshkumar Acharya
Nice park for all ages. Good for nature lovers. Well maintained. Playground available for kids. Features boardwalk, nature trails, kayaking, restroom, playground, shelters for picnic, etc. Bird watching can also be one of the activities in this park. The boardwalk takes one around the river where one can experience or see some wildlife like alligators, birds, turtles, etc and also various flowers and trees. There is also a observation tower. Entry fees is just $2 and is worth it.
Megan Walker
Beautiful park with lots of nice trails to walk, ride bikes, skate and see natural beauty. They have places to picnic, or have parties. Boardwalks to see lots of nature, and wildlife. Very great place to get some fresh air. They also offer canoe rentals, at pretty cheap prices. Entry fee at 2$, which I'm sure helps keep the park as pretty 😊
Ronald Lindsey
Beautiful park. Boardwalk winds thru the wetlands and around the lake. You see numerous wildlife as you walk. Usually always see at least a couple gators on your trek. They are usually sunning themselves on a log. Some swimming. 3 story observation deck gives a nice view of the lake and surroundings. Very nice way to spend an afternoon.
Bill Waller
Teaming with life and kush vegetation on my last visit. The large old growth Cypress trees are wonderful and there were wading birds and alligators right off the boardwalk.
Michelle Wacker
There is a 500 year old Cyprus tree that must be seen. The boardwalk is beautiful. We saw b my any birds and a few alligators. There is a nature venture and kayak rentals too. Only $2 to get in so it is a no brainer.
Stacy Vance
Very nice park. The boardwalk was really cool. Saw 3 baby gators. The views were beautiful. The walking trails were scenic.
Rosalie B
Very beautiful place! Met a lot of people over here that have been here multiple times. Saw a lot of wildlife! If you go to the building there is places where the birds are fed and that is where you can spot hummingbirds!
Avionics Vet
THEY STOP LETTING CANOES OUT AT 1PM. This is not mentioned anywhere on their website, so we wasted a trip out there and were extremely disappointed when we were told we couldn't canoe. Decent boardwalk to walk around and maybe see some gaters. We did see 2 of them. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE so people know the cutoff time for the canoes.
Pooja Apte
Family friendly and well maintained public park. Entry is just $2. Nice boardwalk along the swampy area and observation tower near lake. You can spot alligator, turtles and some birds along the way. They also have shelters, picnic area and playground.
james young
This is a place only had a few hours to enjoy would take much more time to see it all. The boardwalk was nice. Also nice to see many parties of groups enjoying cookouts and birthdays. There is also kyak and canoe rentals to enjoy the river. Great park.
Genevieve K
Peaceful place to canoe/kayak. Canoes/kayaks are in "lockers" and one has to take them off the rafters. You need strength!! You also have to drag the thing to the launch area on your own. It can be tricky for the tandem (2) canoes. Be aware that March is mating season for alligators and they can be aggressive. There are many picnic tables to sit and eat after an arduous day paddling.
Michael Mitchell
Wonder place for a quiet walk, playground trip, and/or picnic. Plenty of parking and bathrooms. Small charge for entry.
J P
A great park. Beautifully preserved nature with plenty of wildlife. Clean bathrooms, cleared and paved walkways, and an observation tower!!
Michelle Diane
This place was so cool. I was visiting for my birthday and wanted to see some alligators. Unfortunately I only saw two, but this place was so peaceful to walk through. I highly recommend taking a stroll through here.
Valerie Anderson
I had two lovely morning walks along the boardwalks. The scenery is beautiful and there is so much wildlife to see. Don't miss this amazing park.

cruzhia fuentes
It was beautiful! I loved that there’s so much to do and discover. The bike path was awesome, the boardwalk beautiful. I’m so disappointed we weren’t able to rent a canoe. My advice go before two of you want to canoe.
Tim Lynn
A lot to offer. There's kayak and canoe rentals. Gators, birds and many other types of wildlife. Wildflowers. Hiking paths. Pavilions and picnic areas. Plenty of bathrooms. A good size boardwalk with a 3 story overlook. $2 entrance fee. Did I leave anything out? Probably!

We go here at least once a month and always see something new!
Baby alligator on its mama's back, various birds, one bird was diving and swimming 20 Feet and popping up and did that 5 or 6 times!
The park is great for kids and they always have clean bathrooms 🚻 and a cute museum
J K
Big, peaceful well tree covered park to get your outdoor fix fixed. Good boardwalk and flat walking.
Lee Roye
I've been to this park in the past to enjoy the boardwalk nature trail in the wetlands. This time was there for a leisurely bike ride on a 1.25 mile paved trail. Entire grounds and facilities were nicely maintained with signage at points of interest. Facilities were clean and adequately supplied. Somewhat surprisingly, again no notice of insects in this swampy area. Playground and several picnic shelters make it a great place for families to joy a day outdoors.
Christopher Johnson
Beautiful park with big trees and plenty of wildlife to see. First time visiting and will definitely visit again. 5 star.
Polly Haze
Perfect location to walk and take in nature. Plenty of picnic tables and workout equipment available along the trails.
Cody Varga

Victor M Forno
Really enjoyed the boardwalk that allows you to securely watch wildlife , nice to have those pictures with descriptions of the animals and plants
Aranxa Joseph
Love this park!! It only costs $2 to park and it’s good for the whole day. There’s so many different trails you can take, some are dirt trails some have you walking on narrow bridges over the water. You’ll definitely see a few alligators on your way around! My favorite part is the canoeing/kayaking. It’s only $25 to rent the boat, paddles, and life jackets. The waters are just so peaceful and that view!!
Lison I.
Love this spot! Lots of nature scenery, lots of open lovely lush grass for picnics, playgrounds for the kids, a nature trail! We regularly visit here with my grandson, he loves it.

Two dollar fee for cars.
Lots of picnic tables. Nature trails.
Come here during covid-19, and drop your depression, by being among nature.

Excellent facilities at the work. It is peaceful and calm place for a nice day out with or without kids. You may have to book the shelters in advance.
Frank Xie
Beautiful small park. Rest rooms and boardwalks are closed too early though
Kalo S.
This is a great park. Especially if you are visiting Fl. You will see so much wildlife. Especially gators! Take the boardwalk its wonderful and that's where you will find lots of gators. Dont worry you will be safe you are above the water on the decking.

This park offers a perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of Tampa. There is a lengthy boardwalk following the shoreline, an observation tower with beautiful views, wide paths for strolling, boat rentals available, multiple playgrounds, and numerous picnic tables and pavillions. The entry fee is just $2 per car. The nature center has large picture windows overlooking a garden area with multiple feeders, making bird watching a special treat. During our visit, we were excited to see several alligators and numerous bird species.
Karla Wilson
It's my favorite place to go. Easy walk on the boardwalk and lots of nature to see.
DucHien Vu
Well kept park with clean facilities. Has kayak and canoe rental for exploring the lake. We were there in the heat if the summer but the park is surprisingly cool since practically the entire park is under the canopy if large trees. The park has a short but nice walking trail.
Ronald Lindsey
Beautiful place. Water was crystal clear. Boardwalk is wonderful way to walk about the swampy area near the lake. Birds are beautiful. We saw a small alligator sunning himself on a log. Great place to get away in nature and still remain comfortable. Much to learn here also!
Laura C
Beautiful, well maintained, and family friendly public park, showcasing wild and beautiful Florida! Park includes several shelter houses, a visitor's center, a wheelchair accessible boardwalk around beautiful Lettuce Lake, and hiking trails through the woods. It also features canoe and kayak rentals, a playground, and is pet friendly! Bathroom facilities are well maintained. Highly recommend!
Rebecca Larrea
Had a season kick party for my son's baseball team. The park itself is beautiful. A paved trail, good signage & plenty of parking. Note the $2 cash only entry fee. We rented Shelter 11. It was right next to bathrooms & only 1 other shelter. So lots of room & secluded apot foe the boys to play. Probably not the best shelter selection if you want a playground. There were only swings next to the bathroom. 2 regular swings & 2 baby ones. The staff & park rangers were so nice. You can tell they truly care about the nature, condition & cleanliness if the park. Their presence was almost constant so if you need anything while you're there you will get help quickly. The trees are a whole vibe themselves. It's absolutely beautiful here. Highly recommend. If the scale is 1-5, Lettuce Lake is a 10!
Riot
This park has room for many families to visit. Very nice park.
L BHS
This park has a long boardwalk. It also has a very tall tower that can be climbed for a lovely view of the water. There are shelters so you can have a place to eat and enjoy time w family and friends. The nature I beautiful.
Doulasforlife Jennings
It's one of my favorite parks. The park is always clean. I love all the trees and the board walk is a must do. Be sure to bring mosquito spray if you decide to walk near the water.
Charlene Font
Had a great time with my 6 yr old. Plenty of things to do and see for all ages
i pm
Very nice, well maintained park. Not too crowded. If you want a glimpse of Florida's fauna and flora you got it here.
Madeleine Krebs
This is my favorite place around. I see animals constantly (gators, bunnies, owls, turtles, tortoises, armadillos and more) and it's very well maintained. There's a paved path through the woods that's perfect for roller skating and the veiw from the tower is always beautiful. I HIGHLY recommend visiting.
Pam Gittings
Seen so many nature aspects of the park including a mama gator with 14 babies. Such a unique experience. Has been interesting to see the water levels increase so dramatically with the two hurricanes. Also, kudos to the staff for their tremendous efforts in cleaning up ll the debris after the storms. Great job!
Brett Jimenez
Always a nice park to visit whether it's for a walk along the mile plus trail or on the water with your own or avail. rentals they have to get you on the water beautiful sights, birds fish gators snakes turtles flowers trees
Adrianna “Dri” Tennison
Really nice park, I love the nature trails and especially love the boardwalk. You can see all kinds of animals, they have a couple parks, you can rent kayaks, there are outdoor exercise areas along the trails. It's beautiful. There are a lot of people out and quite a bit don't wear masks so if you don't want to be around a lot of people I suggest going as soon as the park opens or a couple hours before it closes.
David Melendez
Very peaceful place with a great viewing tower and wildlife worth every camera shot! There's even an excellent playground for the kids! Perfect for quiet or romantic stroll along the paths.
Randal Ketchem
Great boardwalks over the edge of the lake. We saw turtles, storks, armadillos, and several alligators.
STEPHEN
Excellent park. Great trails for bike, walk, and rollerblades. Kept very clean, even the paved trail is kept clean of debris. Friendly staff. You can rent canoe and kayak here as well. I am lucky to get in for free being a disabled veteran and having the hillsbourough County park pass. The state park pass does not work for here, you have to have the county one. I saw other reviews saying they wouldn't let the person in, but you probably didn't have the correct county pass. Not the parks fault, just the rules that staff have to follow.
Chayan Gupta
A beautiful park where you can go on a Kayak for an adventure, you can probably find turtles, gators and beautiful birds.

The park is well maintained. Great picnic areas with charcoal grills and tables. Paved walking trails for roller blading, and biking as well. Nice place to take your dogs too.
Shirley Steele
Paved trails as well as a really nice boardwalk that leads to an observation tower. Some paths are dirt as well which we found to be quieter. They have bathrooms and lots of parking. There are pavilions and picnic areas as well as a playground. We observed lots of alligators and some birds. The placards along the boardwalk describing the different animals, birds and plants was terrific. Unfortunately the worst part is the loud people.. use library voices please.
Laura Wendt
Beautiful well kept trails. Great for hiking, roller blading and biking. We saw lots of wildlife including alligators, hawks and birds of all kinds. They have a great nature center too. The cost is $2 was well spent.
William Davis
This is a very well taken care of park with many-many piers in the area enabling you to see a variety of nature and wildlife. The parking is very abundant and there are trails around the area where you will see people jogging, running, and riding a bicycles. It is 240-acres and is located between Interstate 75 and the University of South Florida.
When we visited we just walked around the park utilizing the piers. The piers are not very far from the parking lot area, but I would recommend wearing comfort shoes and to always look around your surroundings since this is Florida after-all :-).
There are many beautiful parks in Florida and this location is one of our favorites. I highly recommend this park for anyone looking to escape the grind of daily life or just wanting to go and enjoy the sounds and views of nature.
Baha Amro
A great park to spend the day.
Very well organized and bathrooms are clean.

I have an annual park pass for Hillsborough County Parks so this gives me access to all the parks. While I typically visit Lake Park, Lettuce Lake was on my bucket list and after visiting for the first time, I was quite impressed. I took a walk on all of their trails and it was super refreshing. I’ll have to come back again on a less humid day to hit the trails a bit more! Definitely recommend!
annamalai sivaraman
It’s a beautiful park with gorgeous view of the hillsborough river and nature from the board walk . there are couple of shelters , biking trials , child play area , lawn, many parking spots , kayak launch pad and 2 volley ball court . You can see lot of birds and alligators around the board walk . The view from the tower is amazing. The entry fee per car is $2 . The park is well maintained and the rangers are very friendly
Simply Raw
Love nature and this park has asphalt trails, a few dirt trails and a wooden boardwalk a park with kiddie swing. due to co-vid the park benches and tables were not in use you could bring a blanket or what not if you wanted. they also have geocaching their too. we enjoyed our stay three hours is plenty time to walk boardwalk go up to top not high at all just a level up for viewing the Hillsborough river you are allowed to fish on the boardwalk once you get towards the end. Be quite and observe you too may see some Gators! birds of a sort and ya never know what else nature will present.... I like it .... The cost is not bad $2.00 per car Check it out
Michael Simpson
My kids and family loved the whole experience. They keep asking when we're going back. 😎 …
Stephen Reardon
The boardwalk is great. I suggest you take the time to read the info plaques along the way since you will frequently see the creature they are describing somewhere along the pathway. My group really loved it.
Kristin L
Very cool park, 2$ admission fee per car. Board
Walk opened until 5:30pm and park open until 6:00pm. Park reopened at 8:00am.
They have pavilion rentals and kayak rentals as well, check out the pix for kayak info. They also have grilling and restrooms available throughout the park.
Off trails and boardwalk along with an observation tower.
Use your bug repellent this is old Florida! Dogs are permitted in park, however dogs are not permitted on the boardwalk (please be a responsible pet owner and obey the signs).
This is a great place for families and large groups. They offer a playground and many trails that include gravel, boardwalk and off trail. You're sure to see wildlife, snakes, gators, birds if all kinds and deer too. Enjoy the outdoors and have fun.
Rich Nameth
Amazing place to go for a soothing boardwalk stroll. Few alligators enjoying the warm sun. There were alot of people in the park but alot of room to spread out so no one on top of each other. Be sure to have cash on hand to enter the park as they do not accept credit/debit.
Michael Encinosa
I love lettuce like park! They're boardwalks are awesome, the facilities are amazing, lots of good playgrounds and nature trails. Not to mention the canoeing and kayaking. All around great county park!
Anastasya Strauss
Beautiful park to observe the wilderness of nature 🍀🍀🍀
Kajal Malani
Park is really big. Have facilities of water outlet and restroom. Good location for photoshoot. Park is almost covered by trees and so many trails. For kids they have play ground area as well.
Robert Imrie
Lettuce Lake Conservation Park is in the north part of Tampa. Full of tall trees and wildlife, it has over a mile of paved walkway, hard packed sand trails and about 2/3 of a mile of boardwalk along the lake. You can drive in and park for $2/car, or walk in free like I did. I wouldn’t go to Tampa just for this park but if you are in the area anyway you won’t regret spending an hour or two here.
Alejandro Valle
We visited Sunday during the fall season and had a great time. We had a picnic by the playground, then took a quick stroll on the boardwalk. Highly recommended, for visitors and locales.
Schmitty Schmit
Lots of wildlife to see, beautiful nature bridge walk. Lots of picnic tables and a playground for the kids. You can rent canoes here :) Overall great park.
Megatron
This is a very lovely park. We went rented a canoe, it was $25 for 4 hours. The canoes are in great shape. After we were done on the water we hiked some of the trails. The boardwalks were super nice, the park is incredibly pretty, and we even saw an alligator and what appeared to be a nest. The bathrooms near the canoe launch were very clean. Was truly a lovely afternoon spent at this park.
Cristal Soto
We love that this park is so close to home yet once you enter you feel so far away. The trails are great and the Hillsborough River did not disappoint. We got to see a few Gators which we love so much and a few Birds we rarely see. The canoe launch was beautiful..If you have a trolley for your canoes/kayaks I suggest you bring them along when coming here.. the walk from the parking to the launch is a hike in itself. It was a great way to spend a weekday afternoon. We recommend you visit Lettuce Lake Park & see for yourself. Only $2 entrance fee
Bobby Kohlbrenner
From water fountain available for the pups as well as their human companions this park is awesome! Friendly, knowledgeable staff is almost always visible and working hard to maintain the parks beautiful grounds. Birds all over the place. Beautiful playground. Wounded picnic pavilions. Fantastic boardwalk that leads out onto the Hillsborough River. I could go on and on but you get the point. A well deserved 5 stars for this park. Well worth the few bucks to get in. A must for the vacationing nature lover!!!
Monica Shogreen
Shelter 7 is the perfect spot for canoeing, hiking, and enjoying the view from the comfort of your bench. Boardwalk is within walking distance. Bring a wagon. Short hike from parking to the shelter, but it's worth it. Nicely shaded under the natural canopy.
Nancy Samuels
We always enjoy the stroll on the boardwalk at Lettuce Lake Park. Today (mid-March) we saw 5-6 small alligators, the largest being about 4’ long. Sometimes they are quite close to the boardwalk so you can see them well. Today, one was swimming slowly toward us, and then circling away.
We saw many water birds from a Great Blue Heron down to small robin-sized wading birds. Many White Ibises and smaller ibises. There were several taupe colored wading birds with long straight sturdy beets and red feet. They poked their open beaks into the bottom of the water while using a red foot to stir the mud nearby as if to disturb their prey. I wish I was good at identifying birds so I could tell you the name.
The only animals we saw other than birds and gators were squirrels, turtles, and fish.
Mostly the boardwalk is shaded or partly shaded by the cypress trees. There is a tall observation tower on the lake. We were hot today so we stayed at the bottom where the tower shaded the deck.
The trail was about 1.5 miles round trip and there was a nice clean restroom where we parked. There are also picnic tables, some covered around the park.
At one point we saw a rack of orange canoes or kayaks which were probably for renting, but we didn’t go over to investigate.
Frederick Davis
If you're in Tampa an looking for something to do look no further this place has a dock you walk on through this reservation of some kind an you get to see multiple types of animals in there own environment. It was a great time try it
Sonias Makeup Addiction
I looooved this park! Its huge! I'm a nature lover so it was perfect. The Nature Boardwalk by the water, we saw soo many Gators it was awesome in their natural habitat. Birds, ducks, Blue Herons, etc. They have canoeing, picnic tables , great walks. Very clean and well taken care of. Def will be coming back. We had an amazing afternoon hubby n I.
Victoria Johns-Paradise
Beautiful park with so much wildlife to observe! The boardwalk is very shaded, so it's a comfortable walk and there are plenty of places to sit and take in nature. It's also spacious, so even on busier days, it never feels crowded. I love seeing the many different types of birds and it is always fun to spot an alligator. The squirrels are also very entertaining.
Majeed Belle
Good trails for biking or walking. $25 4-hour rental for canoeing. My son enjoyed it.
Matthew Me
Absolutely blown away how beautiful & well kept. Canoeing was fantastic only $25/4 hrs.
Lots of Families taking advantage of nice day.
Thomas Manteiga
The park is beautiful and well maintained. Renting a kayak is always a pain, between payment machines being down, to rental workers not being there, to dirty kayaks for rental. Beautiful park, rental stuff poorly managed.
Douglas Fullwood
Me and my nephews had a great time seeing the gators
Kurt Peterson
Lots of trees providing shade on both paved walkway and trails. Lots of wildlife to see from the boardwalk and tower. Rent a canoe or kayak if you to venture out on to the river. Two playgrounds for kids to with and plenty of open space to throw a ball around.
Rodrigo Otero
Very wheelchair accessible with great views from a very sturdy, several-miles long wooden boardwalk; playground, rental canoes, fishing- great for all ages and levels of mobility!
The Nature Center is very informative and such a great place to take children to learn while having fun.
LaNe NaDeCar
This is a hidden gem! We love this place! There are plenty of pavilions you can rent for your special events, playgrounds, there's an area that you can rent canoes and go down the Hillsborough River, there's a boardwalk to watch plenty of birds, tortoises, snakes, snails, different types of native plants and trees including 900 years old cypress trees. The visitor area has plenty of info of things you can find while exploring also history about the native Indians who used to live there. So many to explore here and you don't have to go far if you are from Tampa.
brian Mulholland
Beautiful park lots of wildlife
Bean17
Great park, I feel like the passes should be for whoever is in your car not an individual person. But that’s the county. Overall beautiful park.
Walter Logan
Well shaded, kid friendly, nice play areas for kids and adults. Pic-nic perfect!!!
Stacey Dowse
Its got a great paved trail . a wooden boardwalk trail and biking trails. No matter how busy always seems to be alone in certain times. They have pavilions for picnicking or parties. Canoeing and kayaking. Of you lobe nature its a great place to go.
Denny Gay
Great park. The boardwalk is great. Be sure to go all the way to the tower and get a clean look at the Hillsborough from an elevated view... Last time we were there, we saw 5 baby Gators - 3-4 feet long - fever saw that many Gators in one visit anywhere
Ethan Fletcher
For the Tampa/St Petersburg/Clearwater area, this was one of the best walking parks we visited. In our search to see alligators in the wild, we visited 4-5 other state/county/city parks. Not only was this the only one we saw Gators at, we saw two. This was also the most beautiful of all the parks we visited. I would definitely go back.
Raghavendra Dronamraju
Had a great family time, the shelters are very clean and well maintained.
The board walk gives you a close to nature like feeling, with a lake running by it's side, birds flying around, few Gators in the lake.
The tower view was beautiful too. Definitely a place to get away with your family for a barbecue and peaceful walk.
Safa Khan
Like you’ve heard from the other reviews this park is outstanding, They have many trails, a boardwalk, you can even go kayaking! They have shelters where you can have a barbecue. A playground for the kids too. Definitely go check this park out, it will be worth it.
Tyler Brown (TampaTraveler)
Wonderful place to go to get away from Tampa city life. $2 cash at the entrance, plenty of parking spaces, and a great chance to see some wildlife! Will definitely be back!
Leon Reed
Nice park with picnic areas and beautiful scenery. We spent an afternoon having lunch and exploring the wooden walkways with friends. We were able to spot several varieties of wildlife including alligators which is what we were hoping to find. It is hard for those of us from the northern states to contemplate canoeing and kayaking in a river so full of alligators, but there were a lot of people doing it without much concern.
Tara Zook
If you have your own kayak or SUP it's not the best place to launch from. The walk is bit of a trek, but not super terrible. Once out on the water heading towards 75 was so beautiful. Definitely one of my favorite paddling spots so far! Even the alligators made the trip fun & exciting from my board. 12 footer I saw did get my heart racing! Happy trekking!
Alex Noe
Lettuce Lake Park is beautiful! If you have a few hours to burn, this place is certainly worth checking out. The boardwalks take you through the nature area and around the lake. You can see many different plants, gators, and birds! Entry is also very cheap for the whole family.
Turiya
A lovely spot to walk the paths. I rode my bike throughout the park and really enjoyed the views. Saw and heard some unique birds and overall I really love all the nature gems all over Tampa.
Ashley Dodge
Lettuce Lake Park is a wonderful place to escape and get outdoors. The walkway to the observation deck was a bit crowded on a weekend but such a fun experience. It's only $2 per vehicle to get in.
Cody Schwarzenbach
Had a great time walking our dog around the park. Lots of places to explore. Notably the canoe launch where you can rent kayaks and canoes for daily exploring of the hillsborough river. Nice boardwalk to view wildlife as well. The park is kept very clean and people are respectful.
Brandi Fletcher
Beautiful views, we got to see two gators & the trees were beautiful back there! They had some really nice walking paths.
Ashlee Hempstead
First time being there and for 2 dollars it was worth it. Really really enjoyed the outside breeze and to make things better the mosquitoes weren't around Ha just my luck. Great nature getaway
Nancy Shepherd
$2 per car. Beautiful Park! Lots ok trails which all loop around. The board walk is a must to do and tower. We saw alligators, birds, fish, lizards, squirrels, turtles you can also rent a canoe but we opted not too after seeing several alligators ;)
Ari X
This is such a beautiful place to hike!!! The views are amazing. Hiking the Boardwalk alone with all the snake / alligator warnings was scary but id do it again.
Lynne pilkenton
I love this park...well kept, great trails, boardwalk to see all kinds of wildlife, peaceful. Pavillions and playground. Dogs allowed except on boardwalk.
Aditya belhe
This a good park for a quick visit. It has a big boardwalk that really takes us right over the river. You can see lot of birds around the boardwalk. There a watch tower on the boardwalk which gives a descent view of the river and greenery around. You can see lot of Florida's native alligators from the boardwalk. The only negative think abt this park is lack of clear directions on the way. While inside the park there are very less markings or direction boards. Also there is not much information avaliable abt the things that can be done at the park . There are shelters but not all of them are at single locations. Shelters are spread across the park also not all shelters would necessarily be near a park or washrroms. Another downside is anywhere we could not see any camp grounds. So I think camping is not allowed in this park not 100 percent sure though on this!!!! Also just to add currently visitor information center is closed for construction work.overall this is pretty decent place to relax in an afternoon and enjoy the nature's serenity...
S S
Very beautiful and enjoyable park. If you love nature, wildlife and trails, this is the place. Been here twice already in 6 months. They also have several trash cans placed, benches to rest. If you are lucky you can spot gators, several kinds of fish, turtles, owls, eagles and their nests on big tall trees. Its a nice place to enjoy it alone or with the family. There is also a beautiful lake/ river. Its a must see place if you are in tampa.
Zephyra Moonlight
$2 per vehicle entry fee, but the ticket is good all day and can be used at any of the other state parks in the area. Good Pokémon go spot. Has a playground and some work out areas and some shelters to reserve for parties and such. There’s also canoe rentals here. You can spot wildlife here pretty much everyday.
Greg Stockford
Beautiful park, boardwalks by the Hillsborough river with a nice tower, kayak rental. Park was well kept and clean.
Sergio
This park is always a joy to visit. We walked for almost 4 miles and met tons of friendly folks that were out for a walk as well. I would highly recommend for all forms of activities and functions. Rangers are always very friendly and helpful.
Caroline Recio
I really like the boardwalks that go over the lake and the observation tower gives you a really good view of the lake with a nice breeze. There are bathrooms which is also a bonus. Parking is $2 which is steal for such a nice park and trails. I hope I can rent a kayak or canoes soon. I will definitely be back.
David Leach
Beautiful outdoors area for the entire family, a date, or just a peace of mind. Beware nature is very abundant here.... VERY!!! We saw Gators, snakes, exotic birds... For us this was a welcoming to FL! We will come back for a picnic, but you can forget about me ever kayaking on this lake! 😳 …
Destiny Parrish
This park was awesome! Lots of trails to walk through and see alligators, turtles, a few types of birds and of course the scenery. Only a 2$ entry fee which is very reasonable. You can also rent a kayak, play tennis, skateboard and other outdoor activities. Shaded picnic areas for gatherings and restroom accommodations. Would def recommend if you are in the area.
Thomas Engelmann
Great way to view the local environment! $2 per Car load. Please, Don't litter! They offer Kayak rentals & the observation tower on the boardwalk is free. Many places to rest, relax, & soak everything in.
Deven Vernazza
Lettuce Lake Park is beautiful. The boardwalk is one of my favorite places to walk because you're surrounded by nature and wildlife you normally aren't able to see. It's a great place to go and relax. Parking is $2 per car.
Francisco Velez
The views are simply serene. I have been coming here since i was 7 and it hasn't changed much over the years. $2 entry fee. Beautiful scenery. Little turtles. A great park for the kids! Kayak rentals. Fishing spots. I can go on, but i rather you experience the rest for yourself. This place is your next weekend destination.
Michael Kovac
It's nice to walk along the board walk and view alligators, turtles, butterflies and birds. There is a visitor center that has wildlife displays and a bird feeder set up that is fun to watch many different species of birds fly in grab a seed and go!
Praswin Prakash
This place was a pleasant surprise. I was actually planning to skip this place and head out to Clearwater Beach but went here as I had some time to kill. I really loved the place. It's a marshy area with a boardwalk from which you can see alligators turtles and a lot of birds in the wild. The entry fee is just 2$ per car. The place is well maintained and quiet and a really good place for a getaway. There are areas to barbeque, playgrounds for kids canoeing, kayaking and bird watching. There is a platform that gives you a beautiful view of the area. Loved the area altogether.
Jmack3d M
Awesome park for nature. The boardwalk takes you right next to many types of birds and aquatic life. Also saw a swimming alligator in the lake, as well as a fairly large snake. There's a tall lookout tower where you can spot a large bird nest (eagle maybe?) near the top of a nearby tree. Great for families.
Ian Johnson
I’ve been to this park hundreds of times and it never ceases to please. The boardwalk is great, as well as the nature trails and the paved loop. So much to see and it’s hard to remember you’re in a city. One wish is that they’d ban bikes on the paved loop trail. Even polite riders disturb pedestrians and anyway people need to get off their duffs and walk.
IAMCHARLIEE 4235
Grrrr I wanted to keep my photos because I take them seriously 😫 but here you go I can admit I feel In love stayed about 4 hours trailing 🖤🍃❤️ …
Jennifer Jasper
Lettuce Lake is our favorite park in the Tampa area. Its only $2 per car to enter, so its very affordable. There's a beautiful boardwalk that follows part of hillsborough river. You can enjoy the sites, watch for gators from the safety of the raised boardwalk, climb a tower for amazing views, and discover true Florida wildlife. There are also dog friendly hiking trails, bike paths, a playground, picnic tables, and a nature preserve building to learn more about the natural habitat! It's a seriously super fun place to go, even just for an evening stroll.
Dave Newell
This is a very nice county Park. It's only $2 to get in and there is plenty of parking. There are tons of trails as well as a paved walk/bike path. The boardwalk is probably the best part with lots of Riverside views and a lot of opportunity to see wildlife.
William Martin
Awesome nature park, very affordable! $2 for a car load. Lost a star because my cousins car was broken into there but the guy was caught and it seemed to be an isolated incident. Secure your belongings but please visit! I’ve posted pics.... every time we go there we have a rewarding experience
Cindi Mundy
Great experience for the whole family! We saw 4 gators, birds, snails, turtles, and more all in only 2 hours! The kids love the tower. Also, they gave us a pack of mask for free!
Robert Brandenstein
The quiet surreal drifts your imagination to a past time of peaceful bliss. No hassle and bussle . No city noises drowning the songs of the forest. A simple pleasure
Suzette
Wonderful park for the entire family. There is a playground for kids. It's a great place for the kids to bring their scooters. Boardwalk views are scenic. The canopy of the trees allow for shade with muted sunlight. There are also fitness excursions along the path. Magnificent park!
exoskins1
A great place to enjoy nature. Lots of birds and gators. The boardwalk is excellent. Great for family and photography.
Anand jayabalan
Beautiful place which has boardwalk and nature trail. You can do cycling as well. Kids have play area and adults can take canoe.
Kian Huang
lovely place for a midday stroll, $2 entrance fee 🐊 …
Teampridgen
Nice place. Boardwalk is nice through the big cypress trees.Only negative I have is that , at one of the shed rentals a family had there music booming loud. Who would come to a place like this to boom there music?? I want to hear nature, not mankind.
Jeremy Blythe
Beautiful park. The boardwalk with the lookout tower was amazing and provided awesome views of nature. Be sure to bring binoculars!! Lots of wildlife and sunshine.
Looked like an awesome place to rent kayaks and canoes to cruise down the Hillsborough River.
Christina Black
So much fun there, so glad I found out about this near the hotel I was staying, (courtyard by Marriott) very beautiful nature and saw a alligator and learn new things and got good exercise. Was visiting from California. Good experience.
Michelle Fernandez
I always love visiting this park. The boardwalk is my favorite. The views from the boardwalk and tower are breathtaking. Always see gators, snakes, turtles, tourtise, and other cute and not so cute critters. The park is very well maintained and offers canoe rentals if you're brave enought to canoe down the Hillsborough River. If you are a local or just visiting the Tampa area, make sure you stop here to see the nature Florida has to offer.
Gavin Wilson
I read about the park before arrival in Tampa and visited a couple of times. The weather wasn't great but I really enjoyed the walk. More than happy to pay for entry especially to see a big wild gator feeding!
Ted Mark
lettuce lake Park has everything first of all it's beautiful colorful has a very long boardwalk about a quarter to a half a mile probably lots of alligators on the side they cannot get near you beautiful birds playgrounds watchtower it's awesome I recommend it to anybody in Florida great for kids if you have nothing to do with your kids this place will wear them out
Andy Norman
This is a very nice place to go paddling but yet you are still close to the city. The only complaint is that if you bring your own kyack or canoe you will need to carry it a good distance if you do not have a cart. Carts make it easier to transport your vessel to the put in location.
Susie Moore
Love this place. Great way to spend a day. Nice boardwalk. A place to see wildlife.
N Yadav
Great park
Walking trails
Observation tower
Play ground
Slide swing
Dogs park
Shelter for birthday or any events party
Ryan Copeland
Visited this place based on reviews per Trip Advisor. It was decent, just a lot of woods and water. I was hoping to see more wildlife, but only saw a little. I did get to see my first alligator in the wild.
Sounida Bounphakhom
This is an amazing park!!! The kayaking and canoeing is so much fun here! Also, you can see so many animals from gators, snakes, birds, and especially Turtles! This is one of the best parks I've ever been to in Florida! Definitely worth the visit! The park is so much fun!!!
Jake Botticello
Beautiful park with plenty of space to walk around and explore. I went determined to see a gator and wasn't disappointed. Lots of wildlife to observe in a peaceful setting.
Jan Broucinek
Nice park. Very pretty and an awesome place to walk. The boardwalk is a bit narrow, but is worth it for the view of nature that it provides.
Sara Eikman
Love this park! It offers everything- nature, water, canoe renting, hiking trails, and an awesome playground! I've been going there since I was a child.
Rachel Munds
Love this park! I often come here for a run as they have a great paved trail. After my run I do a cool down walk on the boardwalk and enjoy the nature. You're almost always guaranteed to see an alligator or five! And the birding is spectacular!
Jim Martin
Great park. Easy to get too. Only $2 per auto. Pavilion's throughout with grills. May have to reserve or first come first serve. The boardwalk is really cool.
joshua rivera
Beautiful park! It's very touristy, so it does have quite a bit of people visiting. I absolutely love the boardwalks that take you out to the lake. You can see plenty of wildlife, and the park has information about the local fauna along the paths! I frequently walk through the park and it never gets old.
Daniel Randolph
This is a super cool park.
John Rickerson
The best park in Hillsborough county. Sunrise/sunset are the best times as their are fewer people and it'll be easier to view the birds and animals, without the screaming kids and teenagers and their radios. It can get busy during the day. Very cheap for the hours of enjoyment.
Steven Davila
An amazing and beautiful conversational park for going for walks, bike riding, exercising, sightseeing, and much more.
Steve Zamek
Nice park with boardwalk, observation tower, gators and Turtles. $2 fee, cash only
N B
I snapped pics of, I believe, a little blue heron eating a spider, 5 baby gators, an adult gator, and turtles today at Lettuce Lake Park. I had such a wonderful stroll on the boardwalk and look forward to returning.
Jeff Giroux
Great place to rent a canoe and see lots of wildlife. 25 dollars per canoe or kayak. They even rent tandem kayaks. We saw plenty of gators and huge turtles.
Heather Hodges
Great park to view all sorts of wildlife. There are wooded trails, paved bike/walking trails and an extensive boardwalk with observatuon tower. It is my favorite park in Tampa!

I love this place.. people are really nice and keep all areas clean all the time. We saw alligators, turtles and exotic birds. I will continue visiting this place!!
Theeuw Both
Great park. Beautiful nature, The boardwalk is nice, not to long. Saw alligators, turtels, birds fish. Go there!
Jake and Dannie Littlefield
This is a nice shady park with plenty to enjoy. We had a picnic at one of the pavilions near the playground, then went for a walk. There is a really long boardwalk over the water that eventually leads to a lookout tower. We saw two alligators and a turtle, as well as many birds.
We went briefly into the visitor center, which had displays about some of the park wildlife. Our daughter especially liked seeing what a hummingbird nest looks like.
As first time visitors we found it a little easy to get lost in the park, but it's not huge so it wasn't a big issue.
Note that it costs $2 to get in, and they only accept cash.
Kayleigh Camacho
I've been going to this park since I was a child, and always see numerous wildlife. Great for those that are not athletically inclined but still enjoy getting out in nature. Don't make the mistake of forgetting your nice camera.
Candi Hogan
We had a wonderful trip even though the boardwalk was closed due to high water but we saw many native animals including snakes and predatory Birds fish and tortoise. Parking was only $2 and we spent a lot of the day there it was a very wonderful place for me and my family to share we will definitely be back
Naomi Brinkley

Beautiful park. We went during a thunderstorm and was super cool! Also very clean facility's.

Have come here over and over. Definitely my favorite park in the area and I don’t think I’ve ever come and not seen a gator on the boardwalks.
Steve Tanner
Beautiful boardwalk trail through the wetlands. Lots of wildlife. Just $2 for parking. Worth a visit!
Chelsea Monayao
Very cool, there's wild snakes, gators, squirrels, and other animals. Lots of folage and trees for shade too

I did not find any lettuce but I did find the lake. Good. We are safe. Here is a picture of my dog at the park.

It is a very pleasant place to spend you afternoon. You can see a lot of different birds and alligators during kayaking or just by walking on the boardwalks.

Nice nature preserve. We walked along the Boardwalk over water. Nice. Birchwood trees Birds & water lettuce hence the name Lettuce Park. Nice time 👍🙏😎 …
James Nawotny
Great piece of nature. No guarantee you'll see an alligator, but several called it home. I've been 6 times and photographed an alligator each time

Lettuce Lake is a regular on our Florida park adventures. It is easy to get to and is just a few minutes off the interstate.
My kids love the boardwalk and tower. Gator sightings are almost guaranteed along with tons of other wildlife.
If you want to get a good look at florida beyond the beaches, this is a great place to start.

The negative thing some lanes are closed because of the high level of water, but the park is still fantastic.

EnviroSteward
OOOHH BOY! This was an experience of a lifetime for me! Even more marvelous than the wildlife was the lack of mosquitos! I Spent hours, over the course of a few days, in this "swamp" in June and only ended up with 2 [barely noticeable] bug bites! Alas my schedule didn't allow for me to rent one of their low-price kayak packages (~$25 for 4 hours) but I'll be sure to when I return. Come during midday hours during the week, and early morning if you're seeking solitude. I was able to find a nook ON the beaten path and caught 45 minutes of calisthenics and breath time, alone and unmolested. It was a great workout, with a cool sound track featuring the grunts and hoarks of wild fowl and amphibians. The place can get touristy on a weekend during prime time though.
Orcatronic Studios
Great walking trail, it’s about 1.25 miles and is a wonderful jog for me and my dog. While canoeing, you can just keep going on in the Hillsborough River which is a gives a wonderful canoeing experience. Only complaint, I didn’t see any allegations the few times I went but I guess that’s a good thing.
Deborah Vines
Such a beautiful park in the middle of Tampa. Well maintained . Signage and informative postings throughout the park. Lovely surprise in the middle of the city!

David Bulson
Great place to see some swamp wildlife, right on the outskirts of Tampa. Near Temple Terrace near Tampa. Up near I-75 and Fletcher. There is a gate you go through where you pay 2.00 per car. There is a boardwalk that winds through the swamp and goes by that lake where there is a tower that's 3 stories high. You get a awesome view of the lake and surrounding area. We also saw a couple turtles swimming in the lake. We also saw a Racoon and an armadillo.Had a great nature walk and some good video.
Joshua Santillan
Great park. Tons of wildlife, great views, well maintained, and clear directions posted.

I absolutely love this park and the serenity that it brings...i have been here plenty of times and have always enjoyed myself...the park rangers and very nice and helpful as well..today i took my wife canoeing for the first time and we had a lot of fun...its $25 for boat rental and they give you 4 hours on the water which is cheaper than a lot of other places...i would definitely recommend for a family outing or just a get together and wanting to enjoy nature
Kamaria Jackson
The park ranger was very helpful, and althogh we went at a later time and most of the trails were closed because of flooding. It was a beautiful place. I plan to take my niece next time I go.
Nasasha Harvey
Amazing park! Just don't bring your dog on the boardwalk or the crazy bird people will get mad! Ended up doing 3 miles total. Lots of shade and things to look at!
Trash
Got to see about 6 baby/young gators when we went today ♡ Lots of bunnies too. Quite a few people not obeying the "no dogs on the boardwalk" policy though .. :/

Danni Lynn
This is my cream Chow Chow, Klondike and Lettuce Lake Park is one of his favourite places to go. It's not overly crowded during the weekday and the weekends are only moderately so. There are several water fountains available for people and dogs (although, I can't account for the quality of it as I bring bottled water) and plenty of pet cleanup stations spaced throughout the park trails. The park also has several covered picnic areas, a canoeing area, a playground, nature trails, and a boardwalk. The only downside is that pets aren't allowed on the boardwalk, but I can understand the reasoning for it. I do wish there was maybe some kind of air conditioned area within the park where dogs were allowed to cool off (since it can get ridiculously hot outside) but making trips back to the car really isn't too big a deal. The park is well-maintained and the area is kept clean whenever we go. Staff are helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend this park for doggie outings!
Griffon Dahrk
Rented a canoe here by myself. Everything was easy and fun. An adventure. Next time I'll go during the week, because there were a lot of other people on the water.
Fletcher Erwin
One of the best parks in Tampa. Canoes and kayaks drop offs and rentals and the nature trails are the best

Ashley Myers
This place is beautiful!! It is kept very clean! If you love to walk and enjoy nature.. this is the place to be!
Carrie Hart
This is a nice park, but it’s very crowded on the weekends. So, you won’t get that “away from it all” feeling. But, it’s nice nonetheless. There is a long boardwalk that at certain parts, runs alongside the Hillsborough River. There’s an observation tower where you have a beautiful view of the river. There are lots of pavilions with picnic tables. Plus, you can rent canoes in the park as well. There’s a few low mileage hiking trails. These were well marked and easy to walk. There’s also a paved loop with some exercise stations along the way. Overall, it’s a pleasant park really close to USF.
Patrick Jochum
A must see for nature and scenic walkers . Great nature study facility. Ample parking. Bring the family!
Natalie Moss
Guaranteed Alligator and Turtle Spot! Visitor Center is worth going into to know what birds and wildlife are in the area, and to see the birds coming to their bird feeders. We keep going back and my kids love it. We take the boardwalk to the lookout tower and continue to the canoes for optimal viewing. I always see turtles and alligators in the lake. Plus a tortoise in the protected square near playground. Love this place! Totally worth the $2.
Sugar Bee
This was my first time ever visiting this Park. It's has beautiful surroundings to enjoy. Me and my family actually played volleyball in the play area.
Jon Focht
Nice riverwalk! The raised board walk lets you get close to wildlife without getting so close that the alligators get to see what you taste like. Enjoyed the observation tower also.
$2 per vehicle entry fee is well worth it!

Great trail, roughly 1.21 miles per lap. Paved entire way with side trails on either boardwalk or gravel/ground through the park.
Kristopher Gates
Lettuce Lake is a pleasant pleasure and a great release in the USF area. I live almost next door and enjoy the boardwalk regularly for its views of the river and examples of Florida scrublands, cypresses and close-up views of birds and alligators.

Nice place for picnic and family walk. Variety of birds and we see alligators all the time
Jeff Sharpe
This is a nice park just outside Tampa. It has some nice walkways and canoe/kayak rental. There are some pavilions that you can rent for parties, or just excessively private lunch, I guess. Admission is really reasonable and year passes are available. There seems to be enough parking for most days, though you may need to look around a bit on busy days.
Tracey Murray
Pleasant walk on the boardwalk. Saw a large striped frog, birds and bugs, lol. Spiders and bees. Amenities closed but beautiful outdoor area.

If you want to see an alligator from a safe distance, you need to check out Lettuce Lake Park! They do a very good job keeping the walkway clean and safe to walk on. There is also a really nice observation deck for you to see out further. Great place to go on a walk!
Jenn Brown-Whale
Visited alone in early February. Entrance is free if you walk in! Great place; lovely hike along the water and wetland on a boardwalk. Saw two alligators, several bird species, two turtles, and LOTS of squirrels. Great bald cypress habitat! Best destination of my four day trip here in Tampa (also went to Zoo Tampa and Museum of Science and Industry)
Kathy McDonald
This is a lovely shaded park near University of South Florida. It is wheelchair accessible as they have a paved one mile path through the woods. While it's surrounded by corporate offices, you wouldn't know it when you're inside the park as it's a quiet little oasis.
Chuck Wuthrich
Many raised walkways with lots of shade. Inexpensive to get in, and the personnel are nice.
James Anderson
Park admission is $2 but totally worth it. There is a 1.25 mile paved trail for joggers (I saw several people take advantage of it but it's not crowded at all when I came on a Wednesday morning.) There are several picnic shelters for barbecuing that can be reserved for groups. There's a small visitors center that shows you some of the fauna/flora found in the park. You can also rent a canoe for $25 for 4 hours at same place where you buy your $2 park pass)! You don't have to rent the canoes immediately when you enter; you can always walk back to buy the rentals (it's not a far walk).
I came in at exactly 8am as it opened and that was the best decision. There's hardly anyone around at 8-10am and you have the place to yourself. This is an excellent place for birding and everyone knows birds are most active early in the day. I saw lots of birds (anhinga, egrets, herons, woodpeckers, thrushes), including a closeup of a limpkin about 10 feet from me getting breakfast by the shore. Start on the boardwalk right away and just start looking around. I saw a small alligator from the boardwalk. I was disappointed about not seeing a roseatte spoonbill but I suppose they migrated further south already. Renting a canoe to go birding would have been a cool experience (I wish I knew about it earlier.) You can also go fishing in the canoes. By the time I left around noon, there were quite a lot more people and not many birds to see. You definitely would want to being binoculars if you like to see birds.
Demonrulez Leiva
I honestly love going to parks. Its one of the reasons I love Florida. This park is so beautiful that it has a breathtaking look at the lake. This park is really big and it has playgrounds as well as picnic areas. There aren't a lot of alligators but do watch out for some. I saw a baby. It was adorable. It was under the bridge which goes by the lake. Really cool place.
Linda Shaw
The boardwalk is such a beautiful place to walk! The views of the river are awesome. We've also enjoyed walking the nature trails. I highly recommend this park, especially for lower-traffic times (e.g., during the week). It's a busy place on weekends, but still enjoyable.
Andres Niebles
It's always fun when I'm here with my kids great spot u can find all kind of wild animals
William Siler

Stacy Guerrero
I absolutely love this Park. My kids get to play on the playground, but also enjoy nature. There are many hiking paths and the woods are beautiful. There are different covered areas for stopping to relax, have a picnic, etc. The park is also located on the edge of a river and they have a fabulous wooden walkway that takes you side by side and over parts of it. For those who like to get out on the water, they have kayak rentals. I highly recommend this place too anyone who enjoys the outdoors and wants to make a relaxing day of it!
Elliott Goltz
My family and I were looking for a place to spend a few hours before our flight at the Tampa Airport. We walked the boardwalk and were blown away by all the wildlife we saw: tiny alligators, a snake, various birds, etc. The park was pretty busy, but that's to be expected since we were there on a weekend around spring break.
Julie Hayes
Excited to explore all the parks in this system! The gentleman who took our $2 at the gate was very enthusiastic about Lettuce Lake, giving us lots of information. Wonderful customer service and a really great park!
Meghan O
Beautiful, well maintained park. $2 entry is well worth it. A half (ish) mile paved loop for activities (perfect for blading/skating) with a long boardwalk along the river and observation tower. Great spot for lunch. Ive been in the rainy and dry season, both fun and different. Always see a ton of wildlife and some alligators! Perfect little park.

Mark Zanetti
we called ahead before making the long drive out there and asked if a dog was o. k. They said 'yes'.
A better answer would have been. Not on the board along the water.
Which is the main reason to visit this park.
Stephen Sansing
Love this park!! Great scenery!!
Amanda Reid
Beautiful park just on the outskirts of Tampa. Nice elevated boardwalk and an observation tower as well as trails. Kayak rental is also available, and there are several picnic areas. Abundant flora and fauna.
Michael Salamey
For 2 bucks, there are ample walking trails, canoe rentals, biking, picnicking, and more. Great park in the middle of the city, next to the college campus. Exercise stations along walking paths. The nature trails are great for taking a trip with your pup (leash is required).

Rachel Gonzalez
Great nature park! My family loves going to this nature park. Opportunity to see wildlife and beautiful scenry along the trails, boardwalk and river.
Amanda Palmer
I have thoroughly enjoyed living so close to this park. I will miss being a regular visitor! The paths are well maintained. I would highly suggest the unpaved paths and boardwalks for a serene experience. The views of the river from the boardwalk are amazing! Make sure that if you have a dog that the rules are no dogs on the boardwalk. This rule is enforced. When my friends have brought dogs to walk with us, there are, however, many paths to explore!
Stephanie K
Nice park with very nice shelter houses and restroom facilities. Lots of nature to see. Watch for lizards, rabbits, frogs and big and small gators
Dan Keith
Great park, east end of the boardwalk is still closed off
Anita E. Long
Love it! Great place, shade trees. Family oriented.

I used to work near here and love distressing by taking a boardwalk stroll to the tower. Such a beautiful view up there...alligators and all.
Damien Ceparano
We had a great time just enjoying the quiet of nature on our walk. We weren't really there that long but it was so worth going that day. We both hadn't been there in years even though we live and work fairly close by. We can't wait to go back and do some exploring next time.
Travis H
Had fun exercising in the park then finished it off with a nature walk!
