Reviews of Volunteer Park
Kevin Shah
An incredible park full of life in so many ways. A place where we get to join in community with amazing plants and trees. The air feels incredible. On a beautiful Seattle day this park hosts all kinds of perspectives.
You will get to see the happiest expressions of life around self care, love, community, friendship, and family.
We grabbed a blanket some edibles, sparkling water and just thrived.
A best of Seattle community and cultural experience.

One of my favorite parks in the city!! There's so much to do here, and it's all spread out pretty well. You never feel like the park is too crowded or loud. I always love visiting the Conservatory, or the Asian Art Museum. Today we saw the dahlia garden which was gorgeous and blooming (8/20/22) definitely worth checking out if you're there around the same time of year!!
John Morgan
I busked here, in front of the black Sun monument across from the Asian art museum. This place is incredibly beautiful, serene, and full of the most wonderful passers by. Each set I did was special- from picnics, to seated listeners, to dogs running around- everyone enjoying the beautiful day. There are views of a reservoir, grassy knolls, and the space needle in the distance. It was an incredible experience and introduction to Seattle. Thanks to everyone I’ve met- I can’t wait to come back and explore all that this place has to offer!

Great historic place for picnics and nice days to spend with family, friends or pets. Several attractions, nice views of the city and beautiful flora make this place exceptional. It’s easily accessible by car or public transport. Is it definitely nice for relax and chill outside the hustle and bustle of the city.
Shannon O’Keefe
Loved volunteer park! Not too big, not too small, a nice place to wander around for as long as you like. There’s plenty to see and plenty of trails for walking or running. They have the water tower where you can get a nice view of the city, an Asian Art Museum, a conservatory, and some cute lily ponds. Would love to spend every day wandering around here!
Victoria Martinez
We got a membership to the conservatory for the first time this year and boy has it been worth it. For a Couple/family membership, we paid $55 and you get discounts to events and gift shop. This membership helps support the educational events the conservatory hosts. Otherwise you can just get the simple $35 yearly membership for 2 people. Individual day passes are $4 each.
Danika Rockett
If you enjoy botanical gardens and conservatories, definitely check this place out! A nice array of beautiful plants, including succulents and other types.
Tom Wilson
This is a beatiful park and it has nice Space Needle view. Unfortunately Space Needle view is blocked by trees. Bruce Lee’s cemetery is also near the park. Park is clean and safe for families. Trees are beatiful in the park and it is a good place for photographers to get photos of the trees.
Mitchell Price
A lovely little piece of nature to visit in the city with some beautiful redwoods! Just a little disappointed in terms of accessibility.
The statue is surrounded by a 2 or 3 step staircase all the way around, making it so that people in wheelchairs (like myself, as an ambulatory user) cannot get up close to it.
Also, there is no elevator in the observation tower. My partner carried my wheelchair up the stairs while I slowly made my way up, so that I could rest and still see the views once I finally got up to the top. Luckily there are a few landings where you can rest, but the stairwell is narrow, so beware of people zooming past while you rest.
If you're ablebodied though, I'd highly recommend checking it out, as the views are stunning (esp. at sunset!), and its free to visit.
Edith Pawlicki
One of my favorite places in Seattle. You need to climb quite a lot of steep stairs to see the view from the water tower but if you can manage it it's well worth it. I keep messing up and visiting when the Asian Art Museum is closed, but walking in the arboretum and around the reservoir is very pleasant and there's a great playground (and water fountain in summer).

Volunteer Park is a 48.3-acre (19.5 ha) park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, USA.
Volunteer Park was acquired by the city of Seattle for $2,000 in 1876 from J.M. Colman. In 1885 it was designated a cemetery, but two years later it was named "Lake View Park," and Lake View Cemetery was developed on an adjacent plot of land. The park then became known as "City Park." In 1901, it was renamed "Volunteer Park" to honor the volunteers who served in
the Spanish-American War. J. Willis Sayre, a Seattle theatre critic, journalist, and historian, who had fought in the war, had actively lobbied local officials to rename this park. From 1904 to 1909, the Olmsted Brothers prepared formal plans for the park.

Seattle, WA
Capitol Hill neighborhood
A Park since 1884... Prime location in the hills above downtown Seattle. Volunteer Park spans 48.4 acres.
The park includes the Seattle Asian Art Museum, The Conservatory, and the Historic Water Tower.
A Seattle Landmark the park contains many duck ponds and 3 miles of trails. The perfect park for dog walks. Lots of green space...
Good park in a great location. Historically valued next to the old 'Millionaires Row'. Views of downtown.
arjun parameswaran
One of the good parks in Seattle. This is adjacent to the cemetery that has Bruce Lee's final resting location. The main attractions here are the Black Sun sculpture, the water tower viewpoint, the Asian Art museum, and the conservatory. The view from above the water tower is really worth climbing up.
Gater Nisbet
Went up the water tower. Amazing views! Checked out the conservatory. Really pretty flowers. Nice playground for the kids. Good bathrooms.
Jacob Brunner
Great park. The flower garden is beautiful and there are a lot of picnic tables and beautiful scenery. Can see the space needle from the park. It is beautiful at night and it’s a great place for some more cruising after dark.
Yü Wu
A decent park in the city, not the most fun or beautiful one but it has its own charm. There is the Asian Art museum with a nice reservoir view at the front featuring the Space Needle in the distance. There is a conservatory, a water tower with observation deck, and a few amenities including tennis courts and playground. There is a loop of running trail encircling the park, which is my favorite part.
Aplih A
Cool spot in the middle of city with park area is one of the historic places of Seattle. There ate lot of walking paths, little pond/water reservoir, museum, conservatory and space for outdoor events. There’s also a water tower building that you can climb about 107 steps to get a 360 degree view of downtown. Being on the top the view will be obstructed by window nettings for safety reasons. The park has ample parking available and more on streets nearby. A nice getaway for a nature walk away from busyness of the city!
Katia Ortiz
Parking is ok, there’s no signals for tourists who don’t know where each attraction is located, bathrooms were closed and this represented a big problem. The museum only opens Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays, the cemetery was closed.
Jeffrey Aikin
One of my favorite places to wander through. Always something interesting happening, a nice museum and pretty great conservatory make it a fun and relaxing afternoon trip.
Albert Wu
Nice park with playground, a pond, and a lot of green. Great place to spend a morning or afternoon to hang around. The restrooms need to be improved.
Dylan Plank
One of my favorite places of all time. Local park. Calm. Quite. Beautiful. Big enough to get lost in. Small enough to walk through. I. Here 2 to 3 times a week in one way or another.
Heidi Birrell
Always loved this park. Beautiful flowers enormous trees playground conservatory birds plenty of green grass a tower to climb peer into the centre of granite to see the needle dow town. I won’t post that portal and ruin the surprise
Bering S.
Its a big one.....
I for the longest time didn't even know there was a cemetery in the back left corner but there's a huge lake there's the center building there's trails that's great for dogs it's humongous all kinds of stuff to do highly recommended and for myself I like a nice evening stroll through the park if you know what I mean
Shreya Sriram
It's always amazing to come here! The water tower, the dahlia garden, the plant sale at the conservatory. This is all I need in life ❤️
Jordan Gamache
Great views of downtown Seattle! The pond at the park is fenced in and kinda takes away from the view at first, but I promise it’s worth it to walk to the Black Sun sculpture! Lots of beautiful flowers around also!
Victoria Kitirattragarn
Cute little conservatory! so many orchids and a cactus section. Ask for STUDENT DISCOUNT. They don't advertise it but they take off some $$ per ticket if you show your student ID.
Jeff Yuan
One of the best parks in the city , SAM located in it. Some picnic spaces, kids playgrounds ,etc.
Azhar Malik
Beautiful park with a ton of parking. There is a little museum inside as well. Lots of open lawns and there is a small playground for kids as well on the far side of the park. There is a graveyard right next to this park where you can visit the grave of Bruce Lee
Maria Miller
One of the best places in Seattle to come relax and enjoy nature. Such awesome flora. They have the Asian art museum as well as the beautiful green house. They have events some times, like plays, yoga and other. People come here to sun tan, relax, read,
Picnic, play with dogs and more! Don’t skip!
Cassie Huff
Nice park with many things to explore. Squirrels are not afraid to get up close.
650NINJARIDER
Great place to have a picnic or fetch a ball with your dog. Wish I had made it to the art museum but the park alone is worth the trip.
Brooke Byram
Clean, well maintained, great views with plenty to do. Could easily spend an entire day here
John Conley
Outstanding place to stroll, hike and take the family for the day. Great views of an old water tower, Arboretum and an impressive Asian Art Museum. Park overlooks city center and has great views of the Space Needle.
vamsi krishna
Huge park, lot of trails and benches. There is a plants conservatory ( $4 ticket). Free parking is available, the parking lots are scattered and are not huge, there is street parking at few places.
stuart forbes
Beautiful place to see plants and enjoy Seattle. $4 a person can’t beat that price.
Dominique Sherwood
One of the best parks I've ever been to. The weather was perfect so the park was hopping with life, many people enjoying the wide open spaces and facilities available. We climbed the old water tower and got a beautiful view of downtown Seattle and got to visit the reservoir and the Asian art museum. Even while busy, there were plenty of places to park and nice wide trails to be able to keep distance from others.
Scott Michener
Absolutely beautiful park. Black hole sun, Beautiful trees, great spaces to sit and relax.
Tony Da-Tiger
MUST SEE THIS PLACE!! If you don’t see this park before you die then your whole life was a waste and you never really got to see beauty as this is such a awesome place walk around and see the city from far and what’s in this park will keep you active all day and even in to the night you can find crazy things and people and places so get out and see!!
Mike Ryan
Went here to for the water tower
Observation view point up 104 steps
To the top. Some obstacle in front of
The Seattle views, but just climbing to the top was the experience.
Emily Rose Barr
I cannot come to Seattle without visiting Volunteer Park. This enchanted forest is the epitome of serene. I could spend hours sitting beneath the canopy of trees or watching the ducklings circle around the small pond. It's hard to believe how much beauty this one park can hold.
Joe Gorbea
A beautiful park overlooking downtown Seattle includes a historic water tower, an Asian Art Museum, a Conservatory, some native wildlife and leads into a historic neighborhood.
Pablo Zayas
Still the best park in the area. From the play areas, the greenhouse, the mystery trees for climbing, a museum and a tower to climb. Plenty of areas for picnicking or playing tag, volleyball or badminton (bring your own net). There's also the wading pool in the summer for kids to take a refreshing dip.
Perfect place to spend a few hours, an afternoon or the whole day.
Mary Lou Borden
So much to do here! Seattle Asian Museum, watertower lookout, garden conservatory, hang out relax, walk beautiful paths.
Jay Schreiber
Great spot! The park can be a little hard to find, it's off a one way. You can't get there from the top of the park, that's the water tower, reservoir, black hole sun, museum and conservatory. There's a group of volunteers that help keep the park in beautiful order as well.
Anwesha Pan
Loved this park in Seattle. We went on Sunday during the heat wave of June 2021 and it was a perfect place to have picnic.
There is a shallow water near the kids activity area and it was so good to see the kids enjoy the water.
Drew Heerspink
My favorite park in Seattle, take my dog on weekend walks through here and he loves it. Always so many people enjoying the park from hanging out on the grass with friends, to dancing, to walking their dogs. Definitely a calm and relaxing place to walk and clear your head.
Dick Nicholson
Nice city park with interesting things to do. Asian art, a botanical garden, and a fascinating cemetery, although you have to walk a ways to get into it. Gravestones have all kinds of messages, some amusing, many poignant, and all reflective of Seattle's international past and present.
Melissa S
What a beautiful park! An absolute oasis in the midst of an active urban neighborhood. I was fortunate to discover this park during an incredible break from normal fall temps. Open areas for large, active activities, places for the kiddos to play, and there is no shortage of trees to relax under. Don't forget to bring your dog! Plenty of puppers were safely enjoying the park on a leash. You'll also find some indoor surprises to explore should the weather take a turn. Absolutely a place to experience for an escape from the busy-ness of Seattle.
Bella Gold
I would give it 5 stars, but there's literally a cemetery right next to the child's jungle gym. Overall a really beautiful park, great for playing some sports, going for a run, riding your bike, skateboarding or rollerblading. Great spot for friends and some awesome photo shoot areas. Great for all ages.
Barbara Norton
Great playground for the kids. Nice big beautiful Park right across from Bruce Lee's grave. We came to see Soundgarden. Big duck pond open bathrooms. Much more
Mitch Williams
One of my favorite places to run when I visit my son. The greenhouse packs a lot in a small space and if you catch the dahlia societies plants in bloom it can be amazing. An Olmsted designed park worth visiting.
Tonja Warner
Still love this place, always will. It's iconic and reminds me of when I was a teen, when my daughter was a baby and toddler and also when my son was little. They both got to be little in the same apartment on Cap. Hill. I moved back in when I was expecting my second.. So we walked the 4-5 blocks to the park to hit the wading pool or run freely on the forever grass...(grass that goes on forever, in case you don't speak kid)
Mark Brantley
I like to bring my dog here. She really enjoys roaming the open fields and greenery. Their is always something going on at this park. You can climb the steps of the water tower which by the way is still in use and offers great views of Seattle and Bellevue. A lap or two around the reservoir can make for a great warmup, or just enjoying the strip of green space on capital hill. Even at night time Volunteer is filled with park goers playing man hunt until the sun rises. I give this park 2 thumbs up. Oh and the new amphitheater offers a great place for shows, plays and movie watching from a projector. Tennis courts, kids play ground, history,
Adventure. It’s all here at volunteer
E M
What a great park. The bathroom has one of the best water pressure I’ve experienced in any public park even outside the US and there was still soap late in the day on a weekend.
Plenty of parking. Park near the museum or the playgrounds where there’s a lot of foot traffic and families around.
Alyssa Barajas
Absolutely gorgeous park. Very spacious, popular with dog owners but well-kept. And in the warmer stations, there's a really great wade pool.
Jennifer Lemus
Great walking park, with lots of stuff to do. Seattle Asian art museum, a water tower you can walk to the top of, and the conservatory. For sure a place to spend a day exploring.
Andy Au
Don't miss the water Tower!
Bruce Lee is buried along with his son in the adjacent cemetery.
Anna Banin
We are rare guests in Seattle :) that park is a jem! Especially on a ☀️ day like today! Daffodils are awesome ! Looking forward to greenhouse opening :)
sudeshna pal
Very beautiful park. Good for jogging, taking your dog outside. I went there to volunteer for spring clean up. It was organized by volunteer park trust. I did raking, weeding and finally mulching. Mulched first time. Great time meeting with the people in community. We had donuts and coffee sponsored by mad over donuts.
Thus, I loved giving back 4 hours of my Sunday to dear nature.😀
Elena
Great place for a quaint stroll, laid-back picnic or a run-and-sqeal session at the playground for the kids. Don't miss your chance to walk around the surrounding area. It full of charming old homes and well kept gardens. Capitol Hill is especially fun during Halloween, when the whole neighborhood goes all out on decorations.
Rohana Tooth
This is such a fun place to explore! Unlike Discovery Park, Volunteer Park has a bit more of an urban park feel (more accessible parking and smaller grounds), but is beautifully designed with a few outdoor garden spaces, walking paths, and fun features like the conservatory, Seattle Asian Art Museum, and the water tower. The water tower is a charming brick tower than be accessed by visitors (stairs only) for 360 views of downtown Seattle and the Cascades. The Conservatory is $4/per adult (card or cash) and completely amazing!
Happuccino Life
Volunteer Park is one of the most beautiful parks I have visited to date. The grounds are stunning. You wonder through tree coved paths where you come upon a beautiful monuments. In the early morning, it reminds me a little of Balboa Park in San Diego. Absolutely beautiful.
R D
very relaxing on a warm Spring day. (our visit). haven't been in a while.
The museum was closed when we were visiting but it's cool when it is open. It has an old Chrysler Building style to it.
The Conservatory (botanical garden) is nice, a short warm visit with lots of flowers. They charge you to walk through it now. (I guess the charge has been there for six years now, sad that it's been that long since I've last visited.) *if I recall, it was $4 a person.
Parking is VERY limited, so carpool or park outside (if you can find a place) and walk in.
The water tower has pretty nice 360 views of the surrounding city. It's a "climb" for an unfit person and is only biped friendly.
We'll visit again.
Randall Jeremiah
First time in over 25 years. This is a wonderful walking area we spent a couple of hours here. Part of that was in the conservatory. Worth it. Check out the cacti room and the fern that looks like antlers. It just hangs there. You will want to spend the $4 it takes to get in. While here you will want to walk up to the observation deck of the water tower and have a look around great views 360 degrees. Also lots of flowering bushes very fragrant as well as lots of cool places for kids to play. Enjoy the free entertainment of this park.
Jon Higgs
Beautiful park so many different kinds of trees I have never seen before! And it's next door to the cemetery that Bruce Lee is in!
Amy Lin
A beautiful park, perfect for skateboarding, picnicking, frisbeeing, rollerblading, and more. On a sunny day, the park shines with amazing light and has shaded areas too. A few tables and benches around the park.
Burton DeGroot
Great historic spot to see Seattle from. This little park is great to just chill in, lots of walking area's, lots of picnic spots, lots of views. The water tower is a great little feature with only a small climb up the stairs to get to for some amazing views. Bring a camera! I would put aside 3 hours or so if you want to visit the tower, the gardens, the art museum, and the greenhouses. But if you want to visit just one, or just hang out, 30 min to an hour is just great.
Christopher Stone
Ducklings in the spring and summer, bright colors in the fall, big trees, lots of walking paths in woodsy areas, amazing views from the water tower, wide fields for sitting or playing... this park is pretty much perfect.
Robert Alberg
Very good park to go to and so close.
Lots of trees.
Nice views of sunsets if it's clear or partial clear sky in the evening.
Nice views of space needle.
Good restrooms.
A few good park benches to sit on.
Beth Kelley
Great place for families. Big trees to climb. Open grassy lawns. Playground on the north east end. Beautiful views from the south end. of events take place here especially in the summer, which makes parking especially difficult, so be prepared to walk in on busy summer days.
Mark Heien
So many great activities here in the summer. Walking/jogging trails. Grass to lay in and have a picnic. Flowers in bloom. A nice getaway from the city in Capitol Hill.
K H
Fantastic place walk & run. Asian art museum. Water tower with great views of Seattle. Hot house with a huge variety of plants. Amazing park in the city.
scott russell
I went to an orchid show/sale which was very cool. The conservatory is filled with an incredible variety of plants, and I could stay in there all day looking at them all. The Cherry blossoms were beautiful as well but it rained on that day so I spent my time indoors.
Clara Baggett
One of the BEST parks I have ever been to. Gorgeous landscaping and so peaceful, with great views of the skyline/Space needle. The water tower is amazing, and the Conservatory is beautiful. Perfect park for walking/exercise or leisure and views.
Brian Ringer
The place in central Seattle to go for an early morning dog walk or evening hang out and stare at the view. Some construction on the outdoor stage still now, will be nice once finished. Climb the water tower for 360 views of the city through the windows.
Fateh-Karan Chohan
I would say this is probably the nicest park as well as area in Seattle. Feels extremely calm and happy. The paths are nicely kept as well the old tower honestly has a better view than the space needle. Highly recommend coming here for a picnic or a stroll to relax!
Victoria Provenzano
Loved walking around here and visiting the greenhouse. Such beauty!
Michele Dean
Really relaxing place to go read a book or watch dogs playing.
Note to self: conservatory and museum are closed on Mondays
Cindy Wells
Attended the annual Orchid show and sale. What a lovely and active park. Made a note to return to explore the Asian museum.
Dana Philips
Visited during the pride in the park event. Wide space , soft grass 10/10 would sit on it. Dog friendly. Will come back to chill sometime.
Matty B
I’m a big fan of the water tower; it gives you a great Rapunzel experience.
YS Z
Well maintained park
Kevin MacDonald
Stop by the water tower for a view and some great educational signs. The are stairs, but if you can make it up, it’s worth it
Rachel
The botanic garden has admission free day from time to time. They do an amazing job to keep their plants happy during the winter.
Bryce Pielage
A great Seattle park with very pleasant walking trails and an art museum.
Randall Weers
I recommend a trip up the water tower. Lots of great info about Seattle parks history and the Olmsted legacy. Also good views. Only 106 steps to the viewing platform.
Lyndsy Urban
There wasn't a ton to do or see in the winter; we went in December. The views from the top of the observatory were really nice and you can talk a small walk and see Bruce Lee's grave at the cemetery next to it.
Lisa Ingram
Definitely worth a visit. The dahlias are excellent at the moment.
Nick W
Lovely area for a picnic, and make sure to go up to the water tower at night!
Tor Fredericks
Surprised the hell out of my fiance and I. Sprawling, beautiful park with a water reservoir, water tower with observation deck, art museum, water Lilly ponds, and a conservatory smack-dab in the middle of a very urban Cap Hill neighborhood!
Isiah Sevenly
Run, kick, stay and play. One of my favorite parks in Seattle and a good walking distance from my house. I enjoy the spaces, the verandas of the West views of the city and the water. I have youthful memories of visiting this park on a school filed trip and now I bring my kids here on a regular basis. I sometimes Teach Wing Chun Kung Fu up here as well as accompany my daughter to her outdoor Aikido classes. I have visited the green house countless times and have enjoyed public festivals and picnics on the lawn. I have even performed live as a teenager at the small amphitheater. There's ponds with ducks and squirrels that will come right up to you to get a bite to eat, a reservoir, a play area for toddlers and children and a nice large wading pool. Don't forget to check out the Water Tower and play some tennis on the tennis courts and of course there is also the Seattle Asian Art Museum which has now been expanded.
Coco
This is a great place to watch a sunset on a warm summer evening.
The ponds by the Asian art museum have orange koi fish and often has ducks and baby ducks during certain seasons.
Krista MacDougall
Incredible park and conservatory. Beautiful and well taken care of. Sweet lil gift shop. Go visit!
Sara Camille
A great park to visit. There’s a nice playground for the kids. There’s also a tower that you can go where you. An see a cools view of downtown Seattle. You can also bring a blanket and some picnic food fo lounge in the grass and spend time with friend and family.
Gabriel Andrés Cáceres
Is so spacious and full of grass to go sit or lay down and relax for a little bit, without any worry or care in the world. It can get busy sometimes but as I said is a pretty big place so it doesn't feel crowded and you often find people playing some friendly sports or hanging out so it has a very lively vibe.
yvonne perez
Beautiful trees and park!! Got sidetracked and never made it to Bruce Lee's grave site! None-the-less worth the visit! Could have spent all day here! Even saw some sun bathers?!
Rose Walden
Great place to bring the kids and dog. The trails are well maintained, there are beautiful flowers and other foliage, there's a great park with swings, bordering the cemetery with the bruce and Brandon Lee grave sites it was great . I thoroughly enjoyed it and so did my 7 year old son.
Angel LeHuquet
I love this park, it was part of my growing up on Capital Hill. Its still kept up and for the area, fairly safe too. Highly recommend the Arboretum and the Museum.
BJ BAX
Finest park in the city with s beautiful brick wster tower that has two elclosed sets of stairs which take you to the top observation level where you have. Views in all directions. That rival those from the space needle but free to access. The dahlia garden in early septmber is amazing. The asian art museum is world class. One of tthe nation.s bbest urbsn parks
craig lee
The Amphitheater is a fantastic place to see a concert!!
Desiree Smart
This place is so beautiful!! I had such a great time just walking around and looking at all the amazing plants. Soooo calming!
Laza Hart
This was the first year we've held Trans Pride at Volunteer Park and despite some accessibility issues with the grounds, it was so received and everyone had a great time.
Oxinflames
It's a big ol park, but even so, it gets downright crowded for an outdoor space. It's a good park, just not a good park if you're wanting more of an outdoor quiet alone with your thoughts kind of place.
Ann Ravitch
A lovely gem. Natural and architectural beauty along with views of the city. I missed the art deco museum which was closed, but the greenhouse was incredible.
Banna F.
Really beautiful park with a surprising amount of trails and good views during sunset. Feels like you’re outside of the city.
Gabe Medina
Beautiful park. Highly recommend going up the water tower. It's the highest spot in all of Seattle! Here's a view of sunset from the top.
There's really so much nature and fresh air here. It's an absolutely gorgeous place to visit all year round. Especially when there's a fresh coat of snow.
If you're ever in the area you should take a few minutes to stroll through this beautiful park.
Tom Hoffman
Extraordinary history and views. This bark embodies the soul and history of Seattle and promotes it's future culture too. Large areas connecting the Conservatory, Asian Art Museum (former/original Seattle Art Museum), the water tower overlook, , reservoir and cemetery. Acres to Explore and lots of fun to be had. Water tower has a full 360 view of the city from the University of Washington to the Port of Seattle, with view stretching simultaneously across Lake Washington and Puget Sound.
Jess Nault
Amazing. If you show up ten minutes before closing you get zero percent off. That's ok, they put in a lot of work. They need the dough. So go early and get your money's worth.
Karen Zellers
Volunteer Park is one of my absolute favorite parks in Seattle. The park encompasses many different elements, including the Conservatory of Flowers and the Asian art museum. However, unlike some parks featuring museums, there is lots to do in the park itself. You can climb up the Memorial Water Tower, catch a play at the outdoor stage during the summer, or visit the rose garden. The park is also a great place to walk, jog, or run.
Lindsay
Nice playground with a wading pool. The garden is really nice. $4 per person for the garden.
Jono Hanks
My favorite park in Seattle. The gardens are gorgeous. The path around the park it's a great walk.
Thabata Regiani
Probably my favorite park in Seattle. It is great to visit all year round, and it has lots of things to do and visit - like the Asian Art Museum.
Peter Breyfogle
Nice views, walk, and attractions.
Matthew Miller
If you want a place to get away while in the city, I recommend this park. I've seen outdoor concerts in the Summer, gone to the top of the water tower and toured the conservatory. It's a place where you can take in the views or just sit on a bench and relax. There is also a museum that used to be the main museum before the downtown one was built, now it houses the Asian Art museum. This is a large park with plenty of parking and room to walk.
Mike Durham
Although the Asian Art Museum was closed for construction this a nice stop to check out. The observation tour does have wiring over the openings on the top that obstructs camera's, but still a nice 360 look-out.
Alison Kane
Beautiful! Peaceful. A bit muddy in places, but totally worth the walk around and the many steps up the watertower!
Noam Yogev
Great huge green park, very quiet and pastoral. The black hole sun monument is beautiful.
Crystal Garcia
What a great park in the city! Lots of climbing trees. We came of a light up art event and had a blast
A.R. H.
Volunteer Park is quite beautiful and one of the most peaceful corners of Seattle--a small sanctuary from the urban hustle. It's got lots of shade and paths to explore (none long enough for a serious hike of course, it's a strolling park). There are always many other people there with dogs and children but the park is just spacious enough that it still doesn't feel crowded. It has a wading pool for kids right next to a graveyard which I think is a striking juxtaposition of life stages. Other features of interest include botanical gardens, a water tower, and an art museum. And the houses that surround the park are quite stately, of a more traditional style with larger lots than any that are getting built nowadays in Seattle.
Tim Baer
Beautiful panoramic view of the city and beyond from the historic water tower. Asian art museum and conservatory.
Teysha Villanueva
Huge and beautiful park with amazing views. Me and my fiancee love this park. Pet friendly!!
Steve Thomas
What a really nice greenhouse and accompanying park. It's beautiful, lush and spacious.
Mary Lynn Bryant
Volunteer has always been one of my favorite parks since the 80s. Beautiful and never crowded like most natural settings in Seattle these days. I am overjoyed we were able to purchase a condo close-by. I walk our pup there nearly every day.
charlie sliwoski
I don't consider this a large park compared to places like Magnuson or Discovery but it is rather large for a neighborhood park. Lots of space to hang out or play frisbee on a nice day, take the kids to the kiddie pool or large playground, visit the conservatory or go to the Asian Art Museum. Bonus, you can go to the graveyard next door to the north and see Bruce Lee's grave or a number of Seattle's founding fathers.
Krystle Rose
Beautiful park. I didn’t realize so many things were in easy distance from here. Suggestion park at the museum.
Denny Bolton
This park has great views of Lake Union and downtown Seattle. It also has the wonderful Asian Art Pavilion of the Seattle Art Museum. Nice conservatory too. And it's a pleasant place for picnicking.
Bri Milot
Really beautiful park with lots of grassy areas and things to see and do. In the fall they have gorgeous dahlias, that I absolutely love!
Anushree Kulkarni
Little gem in the Seattle area. Enjoyed the views from the tower
Luke Skywalker
Checked out a few locations, wondered around and saw a man painting a realistic photo of the conservatory, there were dog training classes happening, lots of group picnics and much more. All things you'd expect to see at a public park.
Ihor Leshko
Lovely Capitol Hill park with a conservatory of flowers, museum of Asian art, water reservoir, and a water tower that’s open to visitation.
Zach Adams
Climbed on the trees here as a kid and it's always a good time to go back, some of the areas were fenced off for what looked like construction but I was able to take photos of the statue and walk around.

We were fortunate to have visited on a first Thursday, as admissions are free on these days. I am not sure how much ecxactly is the admission fee. Not too many people were there that day. The foliage were thriving, and as we were entering we were greeted by lush green landscapes, park-goers, and other visitors who appreciate the outdoors like us. Flowers of different colors and varities are a sight to behold, and side the greenhouse the ambience was soothing, though it was a bit warm, given that we are still in the summer. There is shop for visitors who wish to purchase items ranging from plants, garden pots, mugs, and other souvenirs. We climbed up the steps of the observation/water tower (100 +) for a 360° view of the park. The volunteers and benefactors are truly doing a wonderful job of keeping and maintaining the place in it's present state. There were renovation works on-going at the exhibit area, but hope to see it when it's done.
Rick Christiansen
Coyld have explored the park a little bit longer! Lots to see 😊 …
Cassandra Hibbs
Incredible park with a museum, amphitheatre, and plenty of open space to exercise in. Good view of the Seattle skyline and Space Needle.
Newsha Makooi
Beautiful park and a great place to play, relax and spend time. Easy park to get to. People go there to relax, read, have picnics and play. There's plenty of space and ample parking. There's a flower garden and some water features. Fantastic place to spend weekend summer afternoons here. Right in the city, but easy to forget that you're in the city because it is so peaceful. 👍
M K M A (Jordan)
Unfortunately the museum was closed till 2019 for upgrade work😞. Nonetheless great space for picnics and catching up on good old Stephen King or John Grisham, if you wish... …
paul jones
Great for bringing kids and walking around, lots to do and see.
Alexander Burmistrov
This park is amazing during the summer. They even have classical music playing some evenings. Great place to chill with friends.
Brad Burford
Summer concert series very busy. Need more food trucks to handle load. More Honey Buckets needed. Parking very tight in neighborhood.
Kyle Barber
I love walking up the water tower and visiting the greenhouse. A rare part of Seattle that hasn't changed with the times, for which I am grateful.
Denise Jefferson
We went to Volunteer Park today for the grand opening of their amphitheater. This is a beautiful park and we saw Brittany Davis and Leroy Bell and his only friends. They rocked the house playing some great music.
Daniel Hanson
Nice park, dog friendly, lots of walking paths and grassy areas. There are she bathrooms by the conservatory.
Jonathan Duyker
Much needed park in the middle of cap hill. Sometimes has events like Shakespeare in the park. Check out the greenhouse, museum, water tower, playground, wading pool in summer etc
Aaron Zaremsky
This park is just gorgeous! I spent a lot of time here with friends and had a great time enjoying the park and Conservatory in the park as well.
Lots of people bring their dogs here and the atmosphere/environment is just too enjoyable/relaxing.
Wayne Balsiger
Nice park. Has conservatory with nice plants, Good view of Space Needle
Fes N.
One of my favorite places to go to in Seattle. Especially early in the morning. Peaceful. Serene. Beautiful views. Regardless of where you are in the park. Love going there with my little one in summer for wading pool goodness.
Anna Z
Love this park! It's absolutely beautiful and my dog loves to chase squirrels here (don't worry, she'll never catch one )
Kate Lowe
Wonderful park with so much to explore! My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised by all the different aspects of this park!
Amber Eddy
Great place to walk around and take in new textures in the Flower Graden. Also great place to toke and exercise or just walk.
William Fang
It is right next to a cemetary, with Bruce Lee and his sons grave there. It also has a water play area, where you can get your children to play in the water. It is relatively shallow, so your children don't need to worry about swimming, its just around waist level for toddlers.
Narine Harut
As always beautiful place to visit, clean and well-maintained, great customer service, very friendly, beautifully designed and decorated.
Dorothy Chow
One of the best parks in the city. Go up to the water tower for an antiquetic view of lake union and the space needle. Asian art museum needs to reopen soon so people can go in there. There’s a pool for kids and a playground as well.
Rebekah (Beka)
What a gem!! The park has a water tower you walk to the top of! At the top, it has the history of how the park was created and some other surprises! It also had some spectacular views of the city! It's a great place for a break or hanging out with friends!
Debbie Spicer
They have a lovely play area for the kids and the conservatory is beautiful!
Margaret Warner
We were Geocaching there and the park has alot of nice shady trails to wslk on
Simmi Mourya

John Lipe
Nicely landscaped with plants and flowers. Great place to relax and go for a stroll.
Heather Wilson
Big park! Huge with parking. Lots of walks or visit the conservatory! Sadly the museum on the grounds was closed. Otherwise this is a good spot for kids, dog walks or just needing some open space!
Kris McClain
Beautiful little oasis on the hill. Also the home of the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
Ihor Soroka
A park that is suitable for a walk with friends or family. There is a building with African plants on the territory, and a water tower that can be climbed. The park is very cozy and clean. I recommend for a good rest.
Courtney Civiletti
I loved the cacti!!! Theres 4 other gorgeous rooms to see, all pretty.
Tanya Dean
Love this park! Sometimes we come here just to walk around, have band practice, lay in the grass...this place is great!
Anji Baghel
My dogs and I love the park. On a sunny day, There are more dogs than humans 😋😋 Have a picnic, jogging, walk, wedding ahh... One of the rare, nice and big parks in the area. …
Mark Tellius
Volunteer Park is a 48.3-acre (19.5 ha) park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, USA.
Volunteer Park was acquired by the city of Seattle for $2,000 in 1876 from J.M. Colman. In 1885 it was designated a cemetery, but two years later it was named "Lake View Park," and Lake View Cemetery was developed on an adjacent plot of land. The park then became known as "City Park." In 1901, it was renamed "Volunteer Park" to honor the volunteers who served in the Spanish–American War. J. Willis Sayre, a Seattle theatre critic, journalist, and historian, who had fought in the war, had actively lobbied local officials to rename this park. From 1904 to 1909, the Olmsted Brothers prepared formal plans for the park.
chad Bunton
Great things to do all year. Nice walking paths. Lots of space to run for both kids and pets.
Avery Martin-Chadwick
Great for a casual walk and very close to cafes/shops. It never seems too crowded here either!
Egan Fo
This park is a gem. You can never tire of coming here regardless of the season.
Michelle
Beautiful space. Spread out enough to social distance and still enjoy being in a public area safely.
Ryan Marshall
One of my favorite places on the hill. Great to go for a long walk or to get in a scenic run. Lots of small private areas to relax with friends or family. There are friendly squirrels in abundance. If you bring peanuts they will come right up to you. This can make the whole week for a toddler or a pre-K little one.
Tricia Collins
Such a lovely environment. People just doing their thing - walking, playing Frisbee, picnicking, reading, visiting the Asian Art Museum or the Conservatory, or bringing kids for fresh air, taking family photos and making memories. Parking is not a problem. We walked and found a good coffee shop. Highly recommend this place.
Sean Fear
Nice park, beautiful views, cool museum on grounds, 10/10 would park again.
Cruising with the Clemons
Lovely park, the conservatory is fantastic.
Chandu Kurali
Awesome place to relax, walk and enjoy the colors during the fall season. There is a Conservatory and Asian Art Museum in the park.
Audrey Henderson
Great place to get out of the city and relax. Perfect for meetups and gatherings. The surrounding houses are gorgeous and there are some great views by SAAM.
Kari Smith
Used to go there as a child and not much has changed. Even the camel statues are still there in front of the museum. Still a lovely place!
Andrew Yiu
Small park with a nice loop full of trees that looks really nice during the fall. The park has a conservatory, an art museum, and a tower to explore as well.
Arlan Kyllo
Closed when I was here but it looks fantastic from the outside along with plantings. Beautiful.
Carlos Curry
My Wife & I Vacationed In Seattle.
During Our Visit We Visited Volunteer Park.
We Made The Long Journey To The Top Of The Water Tower To Take In The Views.
The Sites Were Still Beautiful & Serene As I Remembered.
After Departing, We Were Satisfied With Our Visit.
Tricia
The art is beautiful and amazing and laid out well. Enjoyed the experience.
P. S...Not allowed to talk on the phone while around the art. Disturbs other guests experience. If you need to take a call, you have to take it in the lobby or outside.
tovvaar
There is people living in tents in a couple of areas, but very respectful.
Alex G
Great place to walk around with kids. There are ducks to see, fields to run in, flowers, a wading pool, playground etc
Patrick Hyde
The best park in the city! Gorgeous trees and wonderful buildings. The perfect place for a pick up game or reading at a picnic
Ben Kemkes
A wonderful place to take wedding photos, senior photos, or any photography for that matter. This park is a serene and peaceful place to take a walk, and is home to what I'm sure are some of the oldest trees in the city (if size and height are any indicator). Also to be appreciated are the beautiful and grand mansions that line the perimeter of the park. 10 out of 10 every time. Also not to be missed is the Seattle Art Museum's Asian Art building, which calls Volunteer Park it's home.
Loridutting 4loveofdogs
Beautiful large fields, paths, observation tower on capital hill.
Luigina del Pozo
Great place to play frisbee or have a pic nic. Family friendly. Pet friendly. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Milla Rojas
Very big park, Asian museum, giant splash pad, plant store, and so much more in this park!
Soli Salazar
Amazing sights and great park. Had a blast with my kids and family.
Ximenna Hofsetz
So much to do at this beautiful park! Awesome views at sunset and really beautiful trees to walk among on the paths. It's nice to hang out in the open grass areas during summer but can get busy. Also fun to watch the baby ducklings traversing the ramps to get into/out of the ponds in spring! If the conservatory is open and you're at all into plants, it's really amazing to check out! Don't forget climbng up the observatory tower or the Asian art museum... once it opens back up 😷
Alfred Meza
Beautiful park with plenty of space to lay out and enjoy the day.
Matthew Beyer
What a beautiful Park! With a towering water tower and an amazing park, Volunteer Park is stunning. The water tower is super cool to walk up, all 107 stars, and the view is stunning. The park is also very captivating. With beautiful sunset views over a enticing lake and the surrounding contemporary art, it is a treat for the eyes. The park is clean, the walkways are nice and it is definitely a trip for the whole family!
Xtian Gunther
3.75 stars. Not an amazing park but, surely, a pleasant one. A reservoir and its aerator system double as a lake of sorts. There's a cool water tower that one can stair-climb, hang out atop and catch views of downtown's ever-growing skyline.
Speaking of, looking to The West, the skyscrapers pop up above the trees here, mostly blocking the waters of Elliott Bay beyond. The Seattle Asian Art Museum and plants-centric Volunteer Park Conservatory are here, too.
Of course, there's a little human-made bird bath/pond that has ducks and other bird residents, and there are the requisite fields and trees, too.
As this is an Olmsted park, some of this is sculped and landscaped with care. Most, however, is not. For a park designed by the best, it gets the job done but lacks the grandeur of many other Olmsted parks. A perfectly fine respite spot for locals, with a few good attractions to satisfy visitors, if not a park that screams for one to keep coming back. It is on the small side for an Olmsted.
PS- Bruce Lee fans, his grave and a few famous others rest in the adjacent cemetery, just north of the park.
Grendle81
Quiet, scerene, when it rains you can barely smell the piss from the hobos!
Tom B
Designed by the famous Olmsted brothers for the city of Seattle, this beautiful city park sits atop north Capitol Hill. Home to the Seattle Asian Art Museum, a wonderful botanical garden housed inside a 100+ year old conservatory (modeled after London's famed Crystal Palace), a brick water tower with stairs leading to an observation deck with a 360° view above the treeline, an outdoor performance stage, and several huge lawns great for picnics or other outdoor recreation. Great family park with something for everyone (including a playground with a huge, seasonal wading pool for kids & adults alike).
Kelly Elizabeth
I love that every visit is a new experience!
PNW Review
I love this place. Good for walking with dog and for exercise also finding "love"👌 …
Prateek Sharma
Plenty of walkways to walk, and ample room to sit and relax.

Mohammad Alqudeihi
Nice and quiet place but smells weed “which I don’t mind it” but some people do.
Jared R Delo
Plant sale day! This was all around a great time.
The folks running it were super helpful in helping me pick a plant that'd work well for the space and amount of light I've got available.
Cyndy Woods
Great views from the water tower.
Sean Evans
New stage is great for shows. My third date with my wife was to this park, and it's just a good place.

S.R. S.R.
Yep, classic huge park. Not a bad way to spend the day. It's a busy spot but pretty easy to carve out a space of your own
G C
Truly a sanctuary within a short walking distance from the city. Quiet, peaceful , and gorgeous view of the city and cascade mountains.
Macy M
A little difficult to navigate while walking, the walking paths aren't very intuitive or circular.
Isiah Sevenly
A great place to take a walk. I have always enjoyed the western views of the Olympic peninsula and downtown Seattle. There are nice open spaces for your pets and trails for your fitness.
Karen Alexandra Martinez
The park is really pretty and big. Depending where you are, you can see the skyline of the city. The tower used to be open, and it was really nice to go to the top. I hope they open it back soon. There are some tennis courts, too. In case you want a pretty pkace to play.
Lukas Kucinski
One of the best parks in Seattle. Affords great views of the space needle. Surrounded by a cool upscale neighborhood that's worth wandering through as well.

This is must see if you're visiting Seattle ,lots to see and do! great iconic photo ops! Botanical conservatory is really great, the lookout tower is worth the effort bring your favorite local takeout and camera and spend a great day
Rik Schutte
Hands down my favorite Seattle park. Vast expanse of beautifully kept lawns and gardens with several points of interest. Climb the stairs inside the old water tower for a killer view of the city. Visit the victorian glass conservatory for a living art gallery of expertly curated flora. Visit the ducks in the little ponds, see the dahlia garden, splash in the wading pool, or even take a quiet stroll through the cemetery.
Kumaraswamy krishnan
Good park to view sunsets and lot of parking options.
Yuri Kuroda
Great park with diverse scenery and landscapes. Recommend entering from East Prospect to see the mansions and walking around the old tower. I hope they open the tower back up soon! Looking forward to seeing the Asian Art Museum when the time is right.
Lindsey Clark
Loved it for my maternity shoot last year
AKS Hun
Absolutely beautiful park. Lots of events happening, wonderful place for a picnic or just kick back and read a book.
Tomas Rodriguez
One of the best parks in the city to run around, or chill under the sun. A lot of areas with grass and there are some tennis courts.
Tommie Griffis
Beautifully landscaped. Plenty of picnic tables. Very well maintained.
Jayme Nathason

Soroush Yousefisahi
A serene escape inside the city with a panaromic view of the landscape from the top of the historic waterpipe.
Bukkake Allstar
Fun fun time with the guys out and really just great manicuring and upkeep of the place for all the fun you want to have with just yourself, your friends or even the new friends you're down to have fun with at Volunteer Park. 💦 😜 …
Cheryl Hoyt
Museum was closed making parking easier than usual. The volunteers do a wonderful job making the flower observatory a place worth your time. The water tower stairs are a work out but the view is fantastic. Lots of decent walking and picnic areas. Kind of nice to avoid walking around the downtown park tents. Place was clean and patrons seemed respectful.
Lou Daprile
Best park in the city, it's beautiful and full of history!
Joyful
Beautiful Park in the city! Great place for a short, lovely walk or run! Nice, quiet, beautiful place to relax, read, nap, sun, hang out! Love sitting on the platform with the GIANT "Donut", "Tire", whatever you want to call it, it's definitely a cool piece of art that attracts lots of photo ops!! It looks out to the Space Needle and if the sky is clear you can also view the mountains!!
Great playground for the kiddos! Nice greenhouse if you're into that sort of thing - there is a charge and certain hours. There's also a decent bathroom next to the greenhouse!
Parking inside the park as well as on streets surrounding is usually plentiful, however, with summer fast approaching, I'm sure parking will be filled at times!
Shawn M269
Many many memories, from age 5 visiting with my grandmother, 12 spring break spent with monastery friends...19 air force visitor. 20s, 30, 40s and 50s the park has always been a destination to feel like I'm home again. A seattle staple.
Jakub Kaplan
The areas of the park surrounded from all sides by trees are great to relax in - we live in one of the apartment buildings nearby and come here to get a quick "escape into the nature". There are lot of ducks too, so it makes for a nice walk around. Finally, I have practiced pitching my tent for the first time here too. The biggest feature of the park is that you don't have to worry about needles/other mess as in other parks - it's safe and clean. If I had kids, I wouldn't be worried to take them here unlike some of the other parks on Cap hill.
Beverly Sarchet
First time visiting Volunteer Park, two weeks ago, now a daily ritual ! There just isn’t enough good things to say about this beautiful park. So much to see, kind people, and plenty of people with there dogs, which is always nice to see.
I don’t remember seeing a park so clean, everyday ! I know because as I said, thanks to this wonderful place, my dog and I are now walking everyday for up to two hours faithfully, most of that time is spent at the park :)
Sadly Were not from Seattle. When We go home, we will miss Volunteer very much, and yes we will still walk :)
My hope is that Volunteer park will alway be beautiful and enjoyed by all, and some day we can come back and enjoy our beloved park.
Galen Wahlmeier
I was there for the fiesta 5k. Perfect day for it. Food trucks, beer and margaritas. It was a great way to experience the park that day.
Evan O'Brien
This park is beautiful and clean. So excited for the summer to see the flowers in bloom! The Black Sun sculpture looks out over the huge, retired reservoir down on the Space Needle and out over downtown and the waterfront from on the top of a breathtaking vantage point on the tallest hill around, which it shares with an old brick watertower--also no longer in use but is sometimes open to the public to climb the difficult spiral staircase to the top for another great vista on downtown Seattle. The Asian Art Museum is here, as well as greenhouses and a conservatory, and tennis courts are available for reservations online. The surrounding houses are complimentary to the green space of the park and the neighborhood is usually pretty quiet.
I've been wondering what that small concrete stage at the bottom of the field could be used for. There are restrooms built-in and it looks wired for electricity but I've never seen anyone using it for any reason. Might be a cool place for a free concert or something. Idk, I'm just spitballing, here.
Oh, there's a small duck pond, too. Very peaceful little corner of town.
Kendra Rocha
This is a great park, quite large and lots of trees and bushes and large areas of grass. There's also an amphitheater, conservatory and Asian Art Museum. Nothing is open aside from the park (to pedestrians only) at the moment but it's still a nice place to find quiet, walk the pup or have a lunch/snack.
John Zulauf
The botanical garden is small but wonderful.
John Maurer
Great public park. Very peaceful.
Ford Tuff
Amazing public space with a conservatory and a water tower with amazing views of the city.
Emily Vilbrandt
My favorite park in the city. Big enough to feel uncrowded even when it's pretty packed. Beautiful statues, a cool monument by the reservoir, multiple gorgeous views of the city tucked away in hidden corners. It's even got a giant old growth forest feeling greenbelt tucked away by the tennis courts.
Teresa Powers
Great day today with my bestie!! LeRoy Bell and his Only Friends were thee best choice for the opening concert of the new Ampitheatre!!!
Ginger Terrell
Beautiful space to walk or have a group picnic!
Ronda Mitchell
Wonderful park! Enjoy every time I am there for an event.

Stopped off at the park, while travelling through Seattle, such a great, clean mellow park!
Monica Jones de Borges
Well appointed park. Clean. Lovely conservatory. Wonderful places for kids to play. No places to cook. Cool wood sculptures to climb on. Some picnic benches but not a lot.
Andy Chamberlain Music

Ana Marta Carvalho
Nice park with a beautiful view of the needle and ample space to relax.
Jack James
Exquisite park in the daytime. Gorgeous greenhouses with a lots of exotic plants. Plenty of space to keep everybody's masked faces 6ft apart. The park also has a really cool newly renovated Asian Art Museum.
morgan guthrie
Beautiful 😍 kids jungle gym was great …
Emil Holmgren
Nice and quite. Not crowded. Good view to Space Needle. Small tower to climb (107 stairs).
Craig Seyler
This review is for Pablo's playground. Fun place for 3 kids under 6 years old. Parking was easy. The park was clean. The bathrooms were close enough and fairly clean as well.
Mitchell Griffin
Very peaceful and mysteriously quiet here in the late-late evenins//early wee mornings. Well-lit pathways, although of course, probably not playing by the rules by being there at such times and therefore I usually just go the paths less traveled by..... Dark, foggy views of the Space Needle from up there at the fountain near the water tower are well worth the risks though. Completely unobstructed, intriguingly unambiguous, and ridiculously small it is.
Laura Lewis
So beautiful! The trees and plants are amazing!
Barbara Porter
Great park with lots to see and do. Here is the Seattle Women's Steel Pan project performing in the amhitheater
Michelle Moore
Great views. Just lovely.
Artyom Kozlov
Always a beautiful park especially this time of year, very peaceful and relaxing. Bear in mind, the drinking fountains and dog waterers are turned off until spring
Derek Bushnell
It was out at the park for Pride, and it was packed and really enjoyed seeing so many people come out and celebrate pride in style love ya Seattle.
János Ratkai
One of my favourite public park in Seattle.
Linda Maxwell
One of my favorite park in Seattle I've spent lots of time there I love the Dalia's in late summer, but I did miss them this summer, since I don't live in Seattle any longer, so I only get back to the park every few years..
Dummy D
Very peaceful and a lovely sunset view
Anetha Odegard-Morales
Fantastic park.... great to spend the afternoon here
Katerina Luchistaya
Very nice park with lots of headen jems. Little ponds are right by museum with fishes and ducks. The iconic black hole sun from postcards. A playground is by restrooms. There is a nice greenhouse, check the schedule and price first. There is a tower by the way, lots of steps for few historical pictures and a view from narrow windows. Seasonal chestnut and dahlia blooming.
Michael Macnab
One of the most beautiful spots in Seattle nestled in a really nice community. The view from the top of the water tower is awesome and the Asian museum at the base is really cool. In the springtime when the greenhouse is open it's a special place to get local flowers
TheCHIEF BIGFAITH
Come play ultimate frisbee every Sunday at 11am - all skill levels on north side of Asian Art museum. Big group.
**
Fun to walk around & you can see the space needle in the distance . also a wading pool for kiddies .plus asian art museum & indoor conservatory (fee for each). Parking is ample & free 👍. Also an old water tower that you're supposedly supposed to be able to walk up to the top with a nice view but it was closed every time I was there in July 2021😞
Michael Barto
This park is excellent. Definitely go to the donut sculpture and up the water tower for some great 360 degree views of the entire area. 180 steps according to the sign, but totally worth it. The conservatory is also a must see. Their spring flowers are beautiful and smell great.
Queenie Sunshine
It's a beautiful park, one of my favorite parks in Seattle. The down side is many people choose to run their dogs off leash there, which makes my dog go insane, because he wants to play with them. It can be pretty crowded on the weekends.
Zachary Williams
One of the best parks in Seattle for a picnic, hanging out in a hammock, slacklining, or simply enjoying the view of the space needle. I love the climb of the observatory tower too, but it has been closed the last few times I've visited (maybe because of COVID?).

One of the best parks in the City. Great view of the Space Needle. So much to do - enjoy the Seattle Asian Art Museum, Volunteer Park Conservatory, the Volunteer Park Water Tower with 360 degree views of Seattle, the Lakeview Cemetery, you can play tennis, talk a nice stroll, lay under a 100' tall trees, and see all the beautiful homes and mansions surrounding this historic park.
Kevin Lewis Lee Jr.
Love this park, great place to see and share in a smile and good feeling of wellbeing with others. The guys are cute too 😁 …
M Y
Beautiful historical artifacts, historical pieces, Asian cultural displays!
Anmol Sarin
Perfect for evening walks with dogs. Amazing to have weekend picnic and great view of Seattle space needle from far away
Charles Kim
One of the nicest parks I've been to in a while
Theresa Bowman
Love this park! They have a lot of community and trust events here to include pet parades, Shakespeare in the Park, Food truck during hosted events, yoga in the summer time. This is a photographers paradise. Dog watching is great. The squirrels are bold and will sometimes come up to you since some folks come around to feed.
Bring a blanket, pack some food, and enjoy a spot in the lawn areas. Great for a date walk, family outings, groups of friends.
Pat V
This is a long time Seattle park here in has nice features but they recently closed most of the roads in the park. Not sure why they did this there was not a huge amount of vehicle traffic in the park but it was nice to be able to drive to different locations. Now roads lead primarily to the greenhouse the art museum and the water tower. There's so much more to the park and exploring on foot when you've never been before will likely lead to missing out on several sites.
naomi crilly
Beautiful and very large park. Great for social distancing, picnicking, or general goofing around. There is a lovely veiw of the Seattle skyline, a medieval looking stone water tower and a picturesque duck pond. Great for photoshoot, nature shoots and just the crisp air. The neighborhood is safe and comfortable
Kira A.
I use this park for running. There is a nice mix of sidewalk and ground path to go over with various elevation. There are two bathrooms; the one near the greenhouse is nicer and better maintained. Lots of area to picnic. It's an overall nice park.
J
Great park, lots of tree running can happen here, big giant trees to climb, sit in, children play on, SAM (museum) is here, pretty empty in the winter but packed in the summer. Nice local park, not anything to eat but there are bathrooms at least.
Dan K
We didn't see the whole park, but we spent 2+ hours at a park bench reading while waiting for our flight. There's a paved walking path and plenty of green space for pets and people. Great place to relax on a nice day.
Justin H
Great park for families, very wooded with lots of shade. Playgrounds for different ages and what looked like a ankle/knee pool. In a great neighborhood and seemed very safe.
C.J. Collier
I love the tower and the donut. It was also fun to play with the kids at the play area today. And trees!
Reine
Nice park with a few cool things to do on the grounds. The water tower is a nice walk up and offers a good view of the city. Large open lawn to toss things about if you’re into that sort of thing. The park is host to many a festival.
Jim E
The water tower is a fun and free tour stop in the park. Not ADA accessible.
Jeff Hinman
A humongous open park that just let's the imagination go wild. Truly a gem in the city and a great place to congregate. This park is also family friendly and gas restrooms. Would recommend.
Matthew Thomas
The conservatory is very nice. The park itself is mainly grass and sparce trees. The tower is kind of fun but the views are blocked by grate windows. I want to see the Asian art museum but have not yet. The cemetery is kind of nice if you like decorative tombstones.
Steve M
Took my dog for a walk. A beautiful in-city park with water, a view, and the Asian Art Museum.
B. Bruce Bare
Lots of open, grassy areas. Children's play area and wading pool. Nice stair walk to top of old water tower for great views of Seattle with descriptive sign boards. Conservatory in Park. Public transit via #10 bus from downtown. Tennis courts available. Located near Lakeview Cemetery. Seattle Asian Art Museum on property. Nice views of Space Needle.
J.H.W “JOHNNY”
This Is My Friend’s First Time To Seattle And Visiting Volunteer Park. What A Wonderful View Of The Space Needle From This Point.
James Dean
Lots of open space to sit and enjoy being outdoors!! Great old trees and nice duck ponds, walking around the tower is cool too. Can be a little crouded at times, especially while walking so bring your mask!!
Nick Lange
Lovely park with different areas for relaxation. Can usually find a nice spot to yourself. Suggest taking the trip up the water tower at the South entrance for pleasant viewing. Good history of the park and area on the placards up there too.
Jamison Johnson
Gorgeous spot nestled in upper Cap Hill area. Nearby a historic cemetery.
H Cabaya (SANtANA)
Beautifully set on top a hill with a botanical garden, playground, luscious large green fields and trails spread throughout, plus great place for dog meets. Standing in front of Seattle Asian art museum (now open and classically remodeled with modern accents), gives a perfect serene panoramic view- a gorgeous 360 degree artistic view of the landscape.
Evan Newton
Visited during the snowpocalypse. We fought off a band of furry demons with a secret weapon. Frozen divine intervention.
Ethan Mertz
They shouldn’t call this volunteer park. It should be mandatory to visit this iconic Seattle locale. Whether gazing at the ducks or taking a stroll through the greenhouse, every Seattle resident is required to go.
Laura McKinley
The conservatory is quaint and cozy, a decent place to visit on a rainy day. The grounds are very pretty with amazing trees and duck ponds. Walk up the water tower for a little view of the city. All together a very nice park!
Holden Wilkinson
A good spot for sitting in grass, playing tennis, viewing ducks, maybe a picnic. Many people will sit out to tan, meditate, yoga, etc. You also see runners, some dogs on and off leash, and people socializing. A good place for a relaxing city stroll. Bathrooms are in the park too.
Darryl Engerdahl
Such a beautiful park must do visit.
Booyaka Stubbs (ExplorewithStubbs.com)
Can be a very tranquil place depending on what time of day you arrive. So many things to do and see. We initially came to take pictures of Bruce & Brandon Lee's grave site and pay our respects. We basically just happened to come across this beautiful place. There was a wading pool and playground for the little ones, let them tire themselves out. People were super friendly here and would strike up conversations with my family and I, let us in on what else around here could blow our minds. An awesome Asian museum too. Definitely worth the trip here for sure. Highly recommended for any time of day...
Grant Gonyer
Always a favorite for a quick stroll in the Capitol Hill Area, or a group picnic. It's quite popular so there can be crowds at night, but it's more than large enough to accommodate.
As of 9/4, the parking was closed, but street parking was available nearby.
J
I absolutely love this park. Nearly 50 acres of nature and fresh air. Perfect spot to sit and read while watching the dogs run by. If you're in Seattle, you have to visit this park.
rkng1 garcia
Beautiful walking trails. Wheelchair accessible. The Museum was closed the day we went and we didn't find any public restrooms. Small $4.00 per adult charge to go through the hothouse gardens which have a large variety of tropical plants. Small gift store with a few plants, variety of books, some T-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. Money goes towards maintaining the gardens. Free parking. Roads leading in to the park are very narrow and need repair. Still worth the visit.
Katya Monday
Beautiful park with amazing scenery and lots of space to roam! My husband and I enjoyed exploring this park on our honeymoon and will forever cherish the memories we have of this serene atmosphere!
(Also, if you’re there on the right day, you might see a group of people LARPing)
Tyler Lund
A very nice park that has a water tower, reservoir, and gardens to explore. The water tower is a nice easy climb up the stairs and gives nice views of the park and downtown. The gardens are also quite nice and a good place to escape the noise of the city. It also must be a great place for a wedding based on all those we saw going on while visiting.
Jennifer Lovett
Great park, has tennis courts, trails, a greenhouse, rose garden, kids playground and in the summer Shakespeare in the park. It's huge, if you'd like quite alone time you'll be able to find a spot that just right for you. Leashed dogs are always welcome.
Robert Smith
Great park located on the north end of Capitol Hill. Lots of trails for walking or running. Lots of open grass spaces for picnicking or other outdoor recreation. Great views of the city skyline as well. The conservatory is also beautiful. Great place to visit year round, but shines the most in spring and summer.
vee garbutt
Enjoyed the CarribeanFest w the whole family ñ! So amazing
Christopher Quinteiro
Lived here 29yrs and didn't know this place existed, really cool plant conservatory.
Sara Malhiot
Parking is a nightmare but we had a great time here, the park is clean and safe enough for people to sleep while sunbathing (not a good idea tho. A tan isn't worth the risk for Melanomas/skin cancer). Great for kids and easy walking paths!
Nicole Miller
Favorite park in Seattle. We love the little shady grass in front of the wading pool. The pool is shallow so my baby can enjoy as well. The playground is right next to the pool so the kids can run back and forth having a blast. It's a nice walk around the park as well with plenty of grassy spots for picnics.
Aazhie Ryakes
Lovely park, I chose a bad time and the Arboretum was closed (Mondays) but the park itself is gorgeous and surrounded by wonderful houses with some great views. If you get the time check out the hillside community garden a few blocks away towards freeway. Also, under the freeway overpass is a cool park with fenced dog park. Lots of steep hill and stairs but worth it for a cute adventure!
Billy Sanford
It’s a pretty park but the air traffic is kinda annoying. Like every five min there’s a plane flying directly above you. Kinda
HIKING VIKING
Beautiful large lush park you can easily get lost in. Make sure to check out the view from the brick tower and take a peak at the greenhouse place here as well.
Squirrels here are definitely too friendly
J P
Volunteer Park remains one of my favorite parks in Seattle. It’s a pleasant walk away from the busier part of Capitol Hill and right on a bus line. Get hungry or thirsty, need a coffee? Just stroll down 15th to the business district right down the way. While it can get fairly busy on sunny weekends, it never feels crowded, and you can always find a quiet corner.
The landscaping is exquisite and well maintained. The views of Seattle from the park are stunning, especially from the Water Tower and across the reservoir. It’s also home of the Seattle Asian Art Museum, a beautiful Art Deco pile that’s definitely worth a visit.
Finally, with all the well groomed open space and the playground and wading pool tucked in the back of the Park, it’s a great place to bring kids.
Drew G
I love this park! I grew up a few blocks from it and it has everything you could ever want from a park and then some. Great views, an art museum, a historic water tower, water reservoir, outdoor amphitheater with great classical concerts and impromptu rages during the summer, and a kids wading pool and playground. And of course, one can’t forget the outdoor tennis courts and plant conservatory. The best park in the city, period.
J C
A great little (but not so little) hideaway in the city of Seattle. The grounds keeping does excellent work to keep the grass and foliage neat. Lots of open areas, great views, and plenty of good fresh air and shady spots. Highly recommended.
Jordan Weyer
I'm currently renovating it as far as where the audience will be standing. Tearing down the old amphitheater was challange but with the new one up everyone shall a much more enjoyable and safe place
Katie Stiff
A gorgeous & well loved/well used park for the city. Water tower with good views and stairs for climbing, plants/flowers, park, shade trees - something for everyone. There is enough space to bring a picnic blanket and spread out on a field. The play area can get crowded, as can the wading pool in the summer, but well worth visiting.
Gregory Anderson-Rosendahl
This is a great park; located on Capitol Hill and the heart of Seattle. The park is a safe haven for many Gay people in who frequent it, knowing that hate is not tolerated. It is a beautiful park and very peaceful.
Allison Simon
I love Volunteer Park because it has so much to offer if you are looking for a family friendly park to visit with your entire family. I especially like the conservatory.
Anthony Flemings
Stunningly awesome and beautiful park. I would have loved to have spent all of my time in Seattle at this park. Great for everyone. Young, old, adults, children and/or animals. Great views, walking paths, exploring/ picnic areas, water playground for kids. I could go on all day about this place! Loved It!
Lydia
The park is quite beautiful. The grounds were taken care of, the bathroom facilities clean and pleasant with both soap and hot water for the washing of hands. There is a greenhouse conservatory, which I did not go into, and also the temporarily closed Asian Art Museum. Drawbacks: although they seemed currently to be cleaning that duckpond, it has gotten so filthy that asst lest 4of the newly hatched ducklings were floating around dead in the water. I'm from out of town, but I don't understand how such a beautifully kept park could have this severely neglected otherwise asset.
Akhil Sakpal
Love this park. It has a lot of offer - running trails, picnic areas, museum, green house, children's park. And the best - lots of dogs playing and having a good time. The evening sunsets from this park are very picturesque. Don't miss it if you are an out of towner.
Viren Aggarwal
One of many Seattle parks; though this one has multiple attractions- the original Art Deco Seattle Art Museum building, now home to Asian Art Museum. It also has an architecturally beautiful conservatory. The entrance now is by donation but free on first Thursday and Saturday of each month. The historic water tower is a great building and worth climbing the steps. Occasionally musicians play here with its fantastic acoustic dome. Summer also hosts amateur plays and music. It is also has a fantastic collection of dahlias display by volunteers.
David Lyman
Check out the conservatory for a peak at some amazing rare plants. Spend a few hours at the Asian Art Museum (currently under construction in 2018) meditating in their calming themed rooms. Climb the water tower, the highest viewpoint on Capitol Hill. Finally, hike/picnic on the spacious grounds. This historic park can easily fill a whole afternoon.
Mariano
I really enjoyed this large park right in the middle of Seattle! The indoor conservatory was a nice break from the winter weather of Seattle. The water tower is a really nice hight and gives a good view of downtown. The information inside the tower gives interesting information about the history of the Seattle parks. It's definitely a must see if you go to the park.
Ayush Garg
Nice place to play tennis. Free courts, you can also book just for 10$. They have 4 courts out of which 2 have lights also.
Cons: they are made from concrete and are little slippery at few spots.
Alison
Lovely to have this in-city park so close. It's a wonderful place to spend a sunny day. Always on our tour for our out-of-town visitors. We love climbing the water tower and checking out the 360-degree view of our amazing city and beyond. And the conservatory is wonderful!
Kiomars “Q” Nassiri
Great place to take an early morning or evening walk and see the sunrise/sunset. There are also quite a few lookout points that have a good view of downtown and the needle if weather cooperates.
Laura Bensona
This is a really nice park with some ponds and sculptures. There is a water tower too at the end of the park and you can climb there to view the city. They also have an exhibition there about the parks in Seattle area. You might also want to visit the Conservatory at the other end of the park. Very nice park area, too bad the Asian Art Museum is closed at the moment, you could add that to your trip and enjoy the different aspects of the park on one visit.
Luisa TP
This place is beautiful my daughter had a high sch senior pix session there 4/28/17 I love this place
let's react
Very relaxing and peaceful environment I have found my place for tranquility👍🤗 …
Helen Jentry
Volunteer Park is absolutely beautiful, with so many types of plants, trees, and creative artwork; great place to go for a walk, picnic, and bring your kids.
Luan Roberts
The best part about this park is the trees. They create little canopies where you can sit and read all day. Second coolest thing in the park is the old tower nestled in one of the park's roundabouts. This park has restrooms and parking. It's too small of a park for a proper hike but still large enough to get lost in.
Loretta Pompeii
Lovely view and because of Covid the park is closed to driving traffic so you can bike and walk in the streets. Asian Art Museum and Conservatory are closed although walking trails and lawns are open. Masks required... stop whining and enjoy the outdoors.
Anna M
One of my favorite places to walk around. You've got the observatory, conservatory, Black Hole Sun statue, and Bruce Lee's grave site within walking distance. Another super cute small park with a killer view is between Volunteer Park and the cemetery - basically Volunteer Park is a great place to start from and wander!
Andrew Brodie
My go-to park because of its size and location. There's a playground and wading pool for kids, large open fields for group games, lots of shaded areas with picnic tables, and great trees for climbing or hanging up hammocks. The Conservatory is a cool experience and there's an Asian Art Museum as part of SAM. The climb up the tower offers a cool view as well as a nice view of the space needle. Public restrooms beach-house style.
Jacob Schmitt
I took a walk through Volunteer Park after visiting Bruce Lee's grave at the nearby Lake View Cemetery. Although it was a late afternoon, wet wintry Sunday the park was a pleasant place to walk and I can imagine that in the Spring / Summer on a nice clear day it must be very nice indeed to spend some time exercising and relaxing at this Park. There are a couple of duck ponds, a museum, conservatory and a water tower you can go up to get views of Seattle. I did not do any of these things as it was starting to get dusk but I would recommend that you visit this nice green space and enjoy what all it has to offer.
Shawna Williams
Came here for the first time today and was impressed! The park is set in an upscale gorgeous neiborhood. I didnt see any homless people. This is a very large park with huge trees, large green fields and beautiful flowers. The observatory is a wonderful place for a plant lover! There is a nice playground for the kids but its right next to a cemetery. If you're taking a city bus go with the number 10 and not the 49 otherwise you'll be walking for about 30 min to get to the conservatory versus 10 min
Winthrop B (Win)
Gorgeous Park at the crest of North Capitol Hill. Museum, Conservatory, water tower, plenty of lawns, tennis courts, kiddie pool, and more! A piece of advice: Don't let your dog off leash here. At all. Ever. The park is heavily patrolled by Animal Control and they give out off leash tickets ($150 I think) like a Chinese restaurant gives out fortune cookies.
Shawn Paul Jr. Bertrand
I love this beautiful park. In a way it’s my home.
Ellen Kaandorp
Great park for family outing. They have some great playfields and nice loop around the park. Unfortunately the museum was closed for renovations. Instead we went into the conservatorium (beautiful plants and flowers and nice temperature on a cold day) and the water tower (great 360 view from the top).
John Palmer
Its a beautiful park that hasn't been overrun by tents and rv's and the inevitable trash, that tends to be the biproduct of these encampments.
Charles Ponti
Definitely go here. Gorgeous view of Seattle and Mount Rainier.
Ben Trevor
Nice place for a walk or a run. Good views from the water tower as well.
Eric Magers
It's a beautiful park with beautiful views
Sachin Doshi
Nice walk. Everything is closed right now except for the observatory (paid).
Ananya Datta
This place is so much fun! With gorgeous weather, you can do loads of stuffs here... perfect for picnic/stroll/run. I visited the park to meet with some of our friends.
Matt
Nice place for a picnic, or a walk or a run
Dorin Jannotta
Fantastic place to visit for the whole family as a local or traveler looking to unwind. Large playground and wading pool for the little ones. Extensive grounds, gardens, botanical consevatory, and Asian art museum(closed for now due to construction). If you are able go up the 300 foot water tower for some amazing views of Seattle.
Deepak Arora
Beautiful park with a large pool and museum in the down town Seattle. Go for a walk or jogging.
LinixMD
Beautiful! Great for kids and families!
Jeffery Agyekum Adjei
The Asian Art Museum at the Volunteer Park is quite nice and has a very decent collection of Asian art on display. The park itself is nice and clean, and spread in different directions. It has nice and quiet areas for private picnics, and also has big open grass spaces for games like frisbee and soccer. My two toddler sons really liked it there. Hopefully, we'd go up the tower at this park next time :-)
Stephanie Allison
I bet this place is just beautiful during the spring... Today it's a slush pit!!
David McCardell
Had a blast with our kids (ages 1 and 3) playing on the multiple playgrounds, walking various paths (some open, others covered with trees), walking to the nearby cafe, and spending time with the ducks and fish in the nearby ponds. The wading pool was closed, but they're preparing to open it in a few days. Lots of trees to make a 8 hour visit in 85 degree weather enjoyable.
Donald Keating
Not too shabby! Really cool place
Ryan Tompkins
Volunteer park is a beautiful sanctuary in a busy city. Their children's playground is a great spot to let the kids run, climb, slide, make sound, and play in sand. Great place to bring a bagged lunch and avoid paying for lunch. Plus the place hosts Pride!
Mark Cheeseman
Beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Well worth the walk- with all the hills you encounter getting there and in the park, you'll need to treat yourself with a tasty coffee and snack!
Vicky Tran
We had our first cousin picnic hangout since pandemic. Good times. All vaccinated and great park to just sit and hang
Jasmijn Kösters
Great to enjoy the sun and hang around with friends
James Sullivan
Beautiful area to walk around and explore. The hard walk up the water tower steps was definitely worth it for the view. As someone from an over-congested east coast city, I was really surprised to see how much free parking there is throughout the park.
James “JP” Gordon
If the city works open the entire loop for cars again I would love this park. But the mayor decided to close the loop off to cut down on carbon emissions from vehicles driving. I call bs. I'm pretty sure it was a way to close down gay cruising.
WM Li
Nice park nice view when the nice weather
M Gray
Playground, wading pool, greenhouse, reservoir, amphitheatre, water tower and Asian Art Museum.. These are the tangible delights of the park. The sense of camaraderie, tranquility, curiosity and creativity are a few of the intangible.
And if none of that is "your thing", the graveyard where Bruce and Brandon Lee are buried is practically attached to the park.
Eleanor Bonikowsky
The gardens here are beautiful!! There are separate wings in the green house for very genre of plant. It's quite and provides benches for people to come in and do schoolwork as well. The only side effect is that multiple people come in through out the day and do photo shoots. ☹
Malia Villani
this park is awesome for all ages. the park is great for little ones, the park as beautiful views and the conservatory is a great little bonus. if you have the energy to climb up the water tower, it's beautiful up there as well.
Corey H
Great park! I viest with my dogs weekly. The grounds are well taken care of and there is plenty of parking. They have 4 tennis courts that can be reserved through the park service. There is a nice playground off in the far corner so the noise is out of the way. The Conservatory is interesting, and I've only been there when it is free (1st Thursday and Saturday of the month). CHECK OUT THE WATERTOWER OBSERVATION DECK
Puget Sound
This would one of the best park, but it's kinda weird at first playing next to the graveyard.
Other than that the park has awesome views with lots to explore.
Hannah Richardson
Best City Park I've ever been to. It's long wandering trails and enormous old trees makes me forget I'm in the middle of a major city. The recent constant smell of marijuana has gotten out of hand. Otherwise, a fantastic park
Christopher Dempewolf
A lovely spot of green in the north of Seattle, with a great view from the water tower
Fredrik Jonsson
Wonderful park offering a rich variety of music events over the summer.
James Lugo
The jewel of Seattle. A perfect park which must be cared for and protected at all cost. Amazing views, wonderful landscaping, and prideful history. The best park and most ideal neighborhood in Seattle. Please visit and respect this shared land. Let's maintain and share it all but never abuse it. This is not a camp ground for drug users to shoot up. Please don't this park become a decayed, drug infested danger.
S Nerdrock
Even under gloomy, rainy, chilly conditions, this park is a great refuge from the city's sharp angles and ordered chaos. It's a beautiful place for a walk, some meditation, or any of your favorite ways to reset and recharge.
KN Yurk
what more can you ask for. Huge old growth trees/a warm conservatory with awesome grounds around it(donation suggested)/a tower to climb with a 360 degree view at top/huge fields/parking all around the park/a museum that is a treasure in itself just for the architecture. There isn't really a play structure here for kids but they will not care. even when it is crowded, it is not crowded.
Dale Morgan
Great park. Great arboretum and greenhouse. Museum undergoing renovation and expansion. Next door to Lake View Cemetery where many of founding families have been relocated too. Also the resting place of Bruce Lee and son Brandon.
Seattle has made it a no smoking park like I think all the others are which I object too even though I have quit smoking.
Amber Nicholson
Great place to lounge, people watch, take a walk, picnic. When it opens back up, the conservatory is really cute and the Asian Art Museum has a lot to offer. Nearby are Bruce Lee's grave and the Volunteer Park Cafe, must stops in my opinion!
GREG MACKENZIE
Beautiful Park. Nice s.conservatory.
Daniel Sullivan
I discover something new every time I walk in this park. Beautiful landscape!
Andrew Barker
Spectacular city park just go there it is amazing
Javier Alejandro
The park is a great place for locals to walk and play with their pets, and a great place to have a feel of the magnitude of redwoods if you haven't seen them before. There's an observation deck you can visit, and there's a section of the park where you can see the Seattle skyline. I'm glad I visited here.
Shree Madhavapeddi
This park is a real treasure in the city of Seattle. Beautiful conservatory, kids play area, amphitheater and the Asian Art Museum. Set amidst tall, 100 year old trees, the park is majestic and the views are incredible.
Hannah Colwell
Volunteer Park is one of my favorite parks in Seattle. It is beautiful and has a variety of scenery to take in with large old trees, open spaces, view of the Space Needle and skyline, the conservatory, etc. You can walk up the old water tower for great 360 views of the city. In the summer, there are often concerts and plays at the small outdoor stage. My absolute favorite part of the park is the dahlia garden that starts to bloom late summer.
Lillian Sun
Honestly, one of my favorite neighborhood parks. Lush green grass, beautiful old trees, peaceful, walkable, bikeable, picnic-able Lots to do: playground, Asian art museum, plant conservatory, reservoir, go up the water tower for free (get that heart rate going) and great place to dog watch.
Tyler Deming
Beautiful park with a rich history! Nice hydrangeas, rhododendron, and water lillies! Definitely pop up to the top of the small tower and read about the history of the park. Pretty great place to check out near downtown!
Atle Straume
Very nice Park, vading pool for kids on days over 70F. Playground is nice. The swings could need lubricants or new bushings in the pivot point. Sounds like a donkey 😅 if someone over 30lbs is using them …
Justin Perry
Beautiful landscaping with benches, grassy lawns, fountains, and shady areas. A museum and a conservatory, both free on the first Thursday of every month. Check out the water tower - you can climb it for free (!) and get a great view of the city. Hop over to the cemetery next door for some gorgeous views and a dose of the city's history. This is a Seattle experience you won't get downtown.
Paige Youderian
I love the atmosphere here. The park is clean and casual with a mix of families, teen and single adults. Everything about it is refreshing. There is a wading pool, multiple open fields for everything from picnics to frisbee pickup games, an open stage, a botanical garden, an art museum, tennis courts, numerous trails and duck ponds... It is by far one of the better urban parks in Seattle.
Aldo Porcallo
Great park for a walk with the family, the playground area is great.
Wes Phoenix
Great park to take the dogs on a walk.
Ally
I had the wedding of my dreams here ❤️ such a beautiful magical greenhouse!
Kathy Fletcher
Lovely views, nice picnic and playgrounds, tends to be very crowded on weekends. Parking is a bit haphazard, along the street. Gorgeous flowers and trees.
Greg Garland
I love volunteer park. I've got so many memories going there throughout my teenage years. 2003-2004 I had some of the best times of my life. All the local "popular" crowd hung out there and blasted our car stereos. I haven't gone in a while though.
Chip Bell
I just love this place. It's an oasis in the midst of a very busy city. I don't have the words to describe it's calmness and relaxing beauty. It's more than a park, it really is a place that is separate from it's surroundings. Go see. You won't regret it.
Bryan Gonzalez
Today it's raining. It seemed like it's been weeks since its rained. The birds and squirrels seem to be really happy about it. Its beautiful shades of green really pop when it's like this. The aromas of all types of different native plants come out as life is given back to them. I'm currently under an enormous pine tree in which I found cover under and I couldn't have chosen a better spot to pop a squat. This is truly a wonderful place to be whether it rains or not. But if it does happen to rain sit under a tree you like and enjoy the blissful sound of rain.
Spencer Monroe
Gorgeous park to relax in the sun or shade. The slope with amphitheater is where it is at!
Chan (我的世界 - My world)
One of the most popular attraction spots of Seattle.
North of Pike place market. A good walking distance but a great chance to see the downtown area, the new condos and shops.
Not far from Space needle and most people will stop by after the space needle visit. No parking on site but best way to get around downtown should consider the public transits IMO.
Joshua Mathias
A nice walk, lots of trees, and interesting things like statues. I recommend going up the tall old circular building if you don't mind stairs. Great view. I also saw someone using the stairs for running exercise.
Michelle Simon
Cool park, great place to unwind and have a picnic!
Sosan Shah
This is a very nice and beautiful park. Very spacious and lots of sitting area With shade. Looks like a lot of activities go on in this park. They have live concerts every Tuesday this month of September
Patricia Cavanaugh
Wide open walking spaces for dog walking or general strolling, killer playground for kiddos and a fun little wading pool for the little ones in the summer months. Also offers a great photo op with the Spaceneedle if you're looking to entertain out-of-town guests. Finally, If you want a bit of history coupled with exercise, trek up the tower.
Joanna Oster
Beautiful and peaceful. The best time to go is during spring when the baby ducks are in the little pond. So cute!
