Reviews of REI
Sara O
A fantastic flagship store. It's absolutely massive and has a good selection of just about everything. It was fairly busy when I visited, but there was plenty of staff around the floors and checkout moved quickly. Prepare to spend way more time here than you have at a REI before. Inside there's seating if needed and even a fireplace, outside of the shop you can find a test trail, seating, and even a fire pit. Worth checking out if you're in the area at all.
Miss Dee
Great Employees & Customer Service. Truly a friendly experience. I will definitely be back! Clearance prices are all over the store. I got a table normally for $150, I paid only $36!
I stayed a little bit late & no one was rude to rush Me out of the store, like other places do to Me. Very Professional & Enlightened experience. Glad to see great places & great people still exist! 🙏 Thanks 👍🏼

Great store! Highly recommend stopping by, even just to look around for fun. Has two stories and public bathrooms inside. There’s a large rock wall and small play area for kids, but both are currently closed due to Covid. Outside there’s a waterfall you can walk down to.
REI everything you’d need for just about every outdoor activity (clothes, backpacks, kayaks, camping gear, travel snacks, water bottles, footwear, swimwear, etc).
You can also rent camping/hiking gear from them, and they’ll even give you information about hikes in nearby national parks.
Staff are always friendly and helpful. They’re very efficient at check-out, I’ve never had to wait too long in line.

I went in for a quick pick up, and ended up digging all the details at the store. It is really well put together - not only the selection of items, but also the vibe of the space inside as well as the nature-oriented surrounding outside. A must visit if you love, enjoy, or appreciate outdoors.

This is a fun store to go to! It's massive, has everything you need, and the architecture is incredible. The staff was very friendly and there are experts in each section that are available to answer questions! Even if you are going just to walk around, it's fun!
Michael Barton
The flagship store is a paradise for anyone remotely interested in the outdoors. This location is pretty much double or triple the size of every other REI I have visited. The best way I can put it is that it's like walking through their online catalog. There is even a national park ranger desk because that's just how popular they are. I can't imagine a better REI, and I certainly can't imagine a better outdoors store.
Tarah M
Went to get shoes literally had 5 people help me would have been better if only one person had. At one point I had 2 different people get the same shoes. I was confused why he hadn't got the shoes we had talked about lol they looked alike. Oops. So better organization would have been nice.
Jade Wilson
Wow! Phenomenal selection and service. Found what we needed in no time, staff were friendly and very helpful. Massive store easily 5x larger than the REI in my hometown. Work the visit!
jade
I just stopped by here for fun, and it was super entertaining. There’s so much apparel you can explore along with a mini bike trail just outside. Employees are friendly and informative too. Highly recommend you go, even if it’s just to browse.

Finally got to tour the REI mothership and leave very impressed. I didn’t really need anything, but my Garmin wristwatch band was on its last legs (going on two years, REI-purchased) so I asked a friendly staff member named Adam for his replacement recommendation. He ended up comping me one from a stash of older model bands they hold on to; a new replacement band would have otherwise run about $40.
Wow - what great customer service. I’ve been a REI member for 25+ years, and it’s service like that which reminds me what.
Coffee was great, too. 👍☕️⌚️

It's a great and welcoming place. The staff is very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable for all skill levels. I appreciate this because I am expanding my outdoor activities and felt a little lost/intimidated but was put at ease and left more comfortable after speaking with REI employees about gear. I also try to do a lot of research on products when I shop but I think that REI does a lot of the research/sorting for me. So I feel confident that the items at REI have been vetted and are good quality and the only thing I need to do is determine my personal preference/fit. They also provide classes, workshops, and groups/clubs for the community to get more people outdoors and active!

Great service and convenient parking!
Parking is free for the first 3 hours if you go on a weekend (as of Nov 19, 2022 at least) though you may have some trouble with navigating corners and parking if you drive a vehicle larger than an SUV.
I went to REI with the goal of purchasing a snowboarding set-up as a beginner. Kelly was extremely helpful, and professional while balancing multiple tasks from other employees too. She was honest in her recommendations and was helping me make decisions for the long term. When I was trying on snowboarding boots, she ensured I found a perfect fit and discussed how the boot will change as I wear it. She taught me how to adjust my bindings to better suit my snowboarding style as I improved.
Kelly is awesome and I am super satisfied with my new boots, bindings, goggles, and snowboard. Highly recommend this REI for their great service!

Being an REI fan for years, I was so excited to visit the flagship store. Absolutely loved the store!! Staff were most helpful.
Garett Smith
I wish I could give this store 10 stars! I was in the Seattle area for a quick visit and this REI twas highly recommended by my coworkers. Walking around the campus it definitely did not disappoint! They have a dirt bike trail for testing out mountain bikes, waterfall/stream running, outdoor fire pits and benches and fun guides for local hiking trails. Once you enter the store you're greeted to two lovely stories of outdoor gear goodness! I didn't even know where to begin at first. Each section of items are lumped together so you can find what you are looking for pretty easy. Clothing/footwear is upstairs and bikes, snow gear, camping items, ect are on the main floor. I had so much fun just walking around and checking everything out. I highly recommend anyone check this REI store out if you are in the area.
saurabh gagpalliwar
Such an amazingly setup store, I’d also argue that this is one of the best REI I’ve been too. You’d find all your camping/hiking gear here. I usually get my hiking stuff from REI.
The staff at this store is very well versed with everything and gave me helpful recommendations.
Highly recommend checking this out
Dennis LaMaster
Flagship store was busy as always. Parking is free for the first hour. Many items to choose from inside. Many helpful clerks and staff. Gear is good. The membership dividend is fun to spend. I recommend becoming a member.

I loved visiting this store even before I lived near Seattle. Now that I am near the mothership coming in and seeing the seasonal change equipment featured inspires me... If you want it they have it here... and if you're on a budget check out the gear loft and the clearance racks. No reason not to make REI your number one outfitter store! Thank you green vests!
May 25th 2022, unplanned, came in during the anniversary sale!! Actually forgot how busy this store can be. Outdoor Lovers buying outdoor gear... Can't beat that!
Dariane Piehl
Great customer service. Always worth checking out the used section! I got a pair of $200+ hiking boots (last years) for $90-ish. Had only been worn for a mile. A lot of it didn’t even look used.
JETS
Being at the Mothership REI is not shopping, it’s an experience!! It’s got it’s own parking garage with 3 hours free, and even a little trail to come up to the entrance, but you can use the elevator too. It’s 2 floors, and the basement area has a rental and online order area. Everyone was very helpful, and there’s even a NPS ranger in their own booth to answer any questions you have about enjoying the outdoors in Washington.
Sid A
4 stars just because of the way they have their shoes section set up. It's just so much waste of time when you have to wait for an associate to help you get the size that you want for the shoes that you liked. There are no shoes available to pick up yourself and try.
Otherwise, the store is HUGE. I think you get everything that you want in relation to Hiking/camping and that too at good prices. The collection is impressive, and they even have a pre-owned section if you are looking for one.
Parking is available in the same building and the store is in downtown. Parking is free for an hour and then a nominal fee for every 2 hours.
Itay Inbar
Zack from Car racks gave me the BEST service I ever got anywhere! This guy helped me set up a full car rack from zero to 100%. He went out of his way to find all the parts I needed at the greatest discount possible! This is why I like coming here! The people here are AWESOME!!
Chris Brown
This is my first time living in proximity to the mountains, national parks, & definitely snowboard season full-time! I have been looking for a snowboard & bindings & what to get for a bit- I was kind of info shopping a couple weeks ago, & deal shopping- it just felt overwhelming. I came in today ready to get it done- but I didn't realize it would be so smooth & amazing. Ellie in the shop, came up & offered assistance, was super personable & easy to talk with.
She listened for my needs, & answered my questions along the way, took time to go search for the right size, & mounted my bindings while I continued to shop. I was able to get a much needed boarding jacket too- & was gearing up for the long line- she gave me a walk thru/demo on adjustments for my needs-waxing reco's; all of these gave me peace of mind & excitement for the season ahead! Also, she checked me out right there in the shop so I didn't have to wait in the long line- I've been in sales 20 years & really felt taken care of & got to learn a bunch to boot.
As we wrapped up, I was getting chills to be finished with the buying process & ready to rock n' ride. It's shredding time. Thank you so much Ellie! You made the experience so much better with your expertise, helpfulness, & guidance. It made my day & month! Happy Shredding all!
Go see Ellie in the shop for Snowboard & Binding needs at the Seattle REI!
Warren Jackson
Make sure to make your way to the back of the top floor where they sell returned items for deep discounts.
Kamron Cook
I am SO thankful for Enrique at the Snow Service station, he took the time to find me old parts to service my SUPER old snowboard. As a business owner; this guy could handle supervision responsibilities as his customer service skill & mechanical comfort is top tier. Thank you REI Seattle.
Christine Lam
Super cool store! Had a great experience getting fitted for a backpack with Aaron. Learned a lot looking for my first hiking bag :)
Tiffany Chou
The flagship store is great! It's huge and has a ton of selection. Most of the employees are really nice and want to help you out. It's great how they'll fit you with packs here. They have tents on the floor a lot of the time so you can see what they are like set up. They have a bunch of gear they rent out too, including bear canisters, mountaineering boots, crampons, and ice axes. When you rent, you get the day before and the day after you rent (technically for pick-up and drop-off), but since you can pick up and return at any time (as long as the store is open), you essentially get 3 days for the price of 1. Plenty of parking and fitting rooms. Prices can be a little high, but the amazing return policy keeps me coming back.

If you can't find it here, you must be in the wrong store. The mecca for all camping gear. The staff was helpful but overworked, the day I was there on the 20% sale. I got a great pair of hiking boots. I was less there December 2017. I found some big savings in the discount\discontinued room. The staff there are supremely helpful. Free, convenient indoor parking. Worth the trip downtown.
Nina Chepovska
This is the flagship REI store and it's the best one in the state. It's huge! They have a really big selection of items in all their departments: clothes, shoes, backpacks, outdoor gear, bikes, everything. They also even have a cool outdoor area with a small dirt trail where you can test out their mountain bikes. Free 1 hour parking is available in their garage, no validation required.
Benjamin Allen
Has an amazing high quality selection. I absolutely love and stand by my REI. However, their employees aren't the best subject matter experts. For their lack of knowledge they make up for in kindness. What a great team to help the community!
Aaron Rogers
Pretty impressed with the store. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The location is quite convenient. There's a large assortment of items, climbing wall, and mountain bike trial course.
Percy Pomeroy
FANTASTIC! Huge store. Two stories of top shelf merchandise. Mountain bike test track, REI garage sale items as well.
Brent L
Omg! I’ve heard legends about the REI locations on the west coast but I never believed ‘em. After seeing one for myself, all I can say is Holy Granola Bars Batman! The shopping area at this location is two stories tall and has a HUGE amount of floor space compared to the pitiful REI in my hometown.
Add to that, a three story, 100 foot tall, indoor climbing pinnacle for training classes. But wait. It doesn’t end there! They even have an outdoor mountain bike test track to test their mountain bikes BEFORE you buy them.
That’s one of the things I love about REI - you can test anything out before you buy it. You can even walk around their store for an hour in a pair of hiking boots before you decide to buy them. And everything in the store includes a one year money back guarantee. If you bring your hiking boots, back pack, or mountain bike back within a year, because you decided you didn’t like it, or it wore out quicker than you thought it would, they will give you your money back - NO. QUESTIONS. ASKED. PERIOD.
The staff are also superb. If you go in as a novice and have questions about hiking boots, camping gear, backpacking, etc. they can answer it all. If you are new to something, I recommend finding an REI near you for expert advice. Don’t go to an Academy Sports Store, or something that - those folks don’t know jack!
P.S. - pay a one time, lifetime membership fee of $20 and you get a dividend coupon for 10% of everything you purchased that year. You get other perks too, and you’ll make your money back in no time. Look online for membership details.

I had a bunch to eat and needed a break so i went to this local REI and had a wonderful time. I even left with some bicycle tires and a new hat. they were able to tell me where to check ou t and I got to wash my hands as well. Highly recomend recreational equipment inc.
Michael
Overall experience was great.
This outdoor store is easy to find on Google maps located in downtown Seattle, Washington. The parking lot is located under the building in a parking garage and it is very tight down there. Parking is free if you stay for no longer than 3 hours.
The staff are friendly to greet you and help you find items you might be looking for in the store. It is a very big REi one of the biggest in the country at 80,000 sqft. It has the tallest indoor rock wall for all the REi store locations as well. There is everything you could think of related to outdoor gear in here. Clothes beyond your wildest dreams all for a very $$$$ price.
I would come back here again if I am ever visiting the area and if I come up with some more cash because it ain't cheap!
Mir Farrokh Salek
This is a gorgeous store with excellent costumer service
Items are high end
Michael Powell
A paradise for climbers and mountaineers. I love that the staff is very knowledgeable and can provide guidance for gear to make an adventure safe and memorable. My daughters love to climb and the selection here is outstanding!
Matty B
This is the flagship store, with a climbing wall (closed for covid), and a two-story treehouse (you can’t go in).
William North
I am not sure if this is the biggest REI in the world, but one cannot help but be amazed when he walks into this store. They have a mountain-bike testing area outside! Like, what?! The amount of gear in the REI members area was incredible. I have never seen so much good used gear in one place. Even if you don't like hiking, this store will make you want to try it.
Victor Nguyen
The best REI shop I’ve visited, tons of selections including clearance items, would visit again soon!
Johnny Stutsman
Sunday of Labor day weekend, about a 15 minute line outside and a 10 minute line at the shoes. They do not allow masks with valves, bandanas or neck garters. They have disposable masks out side the door. Fewer customers and less stuff means roomier comfortable spaces. There's plenty of staff to answer questions but all are hands off.
Andrew Elegante
Monstrous REI with all the wonderful things you expect, just more of it. Interesting displays like the converted microbus. New products. Big clearance area. Every department imaginable. Classes, helpful staff and great free/cheap parking depending on how long you are there
Oh yeah, I almost forgot but there's a kids playground area, too!
Nathan Derewecki
Flagship REI that has it all...and then some, to include a climbing wall. Friendly staff that's willing to help ya find what your looking for. To long of a visit can get expensive quick! But they sure do have everything outdoor related.
Max Lawson
Fantastic store for everything you might need for the great outdoors. We needed to pick up a few things for a long road trip round the national parks, like bear spray, bug spray, etc. The store is huge, has a great selection of stuff, and staff were also super helpful giving advice on how to use the products.
JB Soleda
You will find anything you need for an outdoor experience. REI has even partner with Toyota to sell you everything you need for outdoor travel!
Friendly and helpful staff are available to assist you. Handicap accessible store.
Nicholas Eckardt
Super helpful employees, great store.
My only gripe is that they rarely have the right sizes in stock. For example, yesterday I searched for a men's summer hiking hoodie. They had 3 different sections of hoodies and had all sizes between large and 3xl in stock. But only two hoodies were medium, and none were small: the size I was looking for.
I hope this review doesn't reflect badly on any of the employees, because they're great. I just wish the store were better at predicting demand for certain sizes of clothes so I can buy while I'm in the store rather than buying online.
N N
Pretty awesome store with everything you want and don’t want to wait for ordering. The bike area etc is huge with lots of collection. Pretty good play area that our kids liked. Parking area is ample but paid after 1 hour of weekdays and 3 hours for weekends.
Zach Fox
The best REI in the country - but shouldn't it be, given that it's the flagship? ☺
Huge selection, lots of demo equipment, friendly and attentive staff, generous return policy, great co-op benefits, rental gear, classes, and a big testing course for bikes and shoes!
Check out this REI, even if you don't think you need anything.
Steven Schauer
The REI flagship store is amazing! I have to make sure I always go in with a specific shopping list otherwise I may get stuck in the store for hours since there's so much in there to enjoy.
Tae Jones
Everyone is so friendly and their policies are amazing. I'm a co op member and it is worth it. I honestly wish I could shop here for everything and never have to go anywhere else.
T J
In general I’m not a fan of REI, but this store is amazing. They have so much in stock and the sales reps are very helpful. The return policy is good with no hassle. Spent way too much $$$ overall so be careful.
Jacob Miner
We love REI for all of our hiking, cycling, running, and camping needs. Huge selection of gear and knowledgeable, friendly staff.
Josh
Large store with good amount of free garage parking. Selection and stock of certain items was a little poor, and they seemed to be missing large and extra large for a lot of men's clothes at the time
G C
This great outdoor mega store has a great selection of hiking and outdoor gears. It is situated in a park setting with bike trail and rock climing wall.
Jim Williams (Jim)
REI flagship store is far more than an outdoor retail interaction.... It's an experience, an outing, a truly fun destination. The staff is top notch - most REI staff everywhere are engaging and helpful - but the flagship crew truly guide and advise you toward success and fun. They meet you where you are aspirationally and in terms of experience level to remove any inclination toward intimidation or apprehension. The service is authentic and genuine in every department and check stand area. Covid-19 precautions are the highest and most comprehensive of any public space.
Ge Yang
I felt treated as a valuable customer today! Exceptional service! I bought a bike rack. Apparently I was not really handy at assembling. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get all the parts fully tighten. One of the REI staff helped checked and found out that one internal nut was threaded likely due to I assembled it on a ramp while a flat surface was more recommended. He offered a small amount of charge for just replacing that one damaged part which would need to be shipped from the original factory. While I thought I needed to wait for days to be able to get my rack finally assembled and my long weekend would be totally ruined, he brought us a brand new one and took the half assembled one and said they would take care of the rest. I am able to continue my long weekend plan with my brand new bikes and rack. Thank you REI!
Anish Bose
This store is one of the nicest REI stores of all time. Enormous selection of items from apparel to biking, hiking, water sports gear and so much more. Very clean store and very well laid out. Employees are also fantastic resources and super friendly.
Ida Caley
I've only been to Seattle a handful of times but I always feel a need to visit this REI. Maybe it's the fact that this is the flagship store that makes me want to go back but darn it, I just like this place. The store is huge. The parking is relatively easy. The experience is also unique. The decor, the "running waterfall", and the rock climbing wall all come together to make it feel like the "great outdoors". Bu most importantly, they've got a huge selection and carry items my local REI does not. Get ready to burn some cash here!
Wendy Miranda
First time to the flag ship REI store. Everything was spaced out perfectly.
Sonia Mo
Look, the workers in the shoe dept. are amazing. I went in today and four of them helped me, one stepping in for another; Dept mgr. in blue, dude with glasses, long haired guy and lady with long, brown hair. Afternoon shift. The other two workers asked if I needed help as well! One dude spent about three hours trying to help me (the long haired guy) and he was incredibly helpful. My feet have high sensitivity and though I didn't find shoes, I will definitely come back for the service, when they have new models, if need be. I've been there a couple of times in the past month, same story, younger guy with the glasses helped me. Manager, please give your shoe dept. and the maintenence man working today who was also friendly, some pizza and give them a bonus. They well deserve it. Made my difficult experience much smoother, really. I've been suffering from my feet and will carry forward their persistence and kindness.
James K
Finally made the pilgrimage to the flagship store in Dec 2022. Wow! Awesome store, awesome architecture, awesome people, awesome service.
Sean K Hoyle
This is REI's flagship store and it doesn't disappoint.
We spent 2 hours walking around after the garage sale and it was fantastic!
Brett Worrall
I could spend a million dollars here easy. Honestly, I just want to buy one of everything. Been a member since 1993. Have always loved REI: personal friendly service, amazing array of quality products. Really can't go wrong with this place!
Lynn B
Stumbled upon the flagship store; a very cool mecca of the outdoors in the middle of the city. Several floors of expensive goods! Free parking in their garage if you can get in and out in under an hour. Took us longer to grab lunch, $15 if you hit the 3 hour mark. Probably on par for Seattle
Matthew Morgan
This is the peak REI experience. Filled to the brim with outdoor necessities and an attentive staff looking to ensure all your outdoorsy needs are met.
MSW
Seattle flagship store. Worth seeing if you are a outdoors person. Get fitted for boots here by Brant, EXCELLENT EXPERT HELP!!!!!!!
Garn Christensen
They always have great watersports gear. Hope to get my next paddleboard from here to test on my Easysuprack.
Peter Epstein
Bigger than other REI stores, but when I visited stock was limited in many departments. I guess supply chain disruption is hitting everyone these days. I was hoping to get a close look at some backpacking tents, but they had very few. Security guards and anti-theft devices indicate shoplifting is a problem. Parking is underground and plentiful, but parking spaces are tiny, so people seem to be ignoring the lines.
Josh Haftel
Love me some REI and doesn’t get better than their flagship store. Curbside pickup is super convenient and the built-in ranger station is super cool!
T S
Pretty cool to check out the flagship location of REI as an East Coast native. It's a good store, but ask someone where things are. It's easy to get lost otherwise.
Thomas Rindfuss
REI has very knowledgeable staff that are always happy to help. I look to REI first when buying hiking boots as I can bring them back within a year (even when you have used them) and replace them for something else (full refund in store credit) if it turns out they didn’t fit.
Priya Ball
Biggest rei store I've been to. Great selection. Be warned it gets crazy busy. The checkout line takes forever.
Ray Habib
Great place and hugs selection to get out door activity products. excellent customer service and price.
Be come a member for more benefit.
Brian Elksnitis
Looking to purchase a kayak. Great place to go for info! Dave was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Ended up buying 2. Came back the next day and received amazing help installing roof racks.
Don Hicks
Long time member. You can find deals but the trendy stuff is expensive. For kayaks and bikes you need to go to specialty shops.
Jing Chen
It's a very spacious, two-story Rei store. Have full set of gears for outdoor activities. But no many discounted items. Recommended.
Scott Gile
I went in today to pick up some mountaineering boots, and was helped by Tom in the climbing section. I can't recall a time when I received better assistance from a representative at any any retail establishment. He took his time with me as we tried many different boot sizes and configurations, and I never got the sense that he was in a hurry or wanted anything other than to help me find a great-fitting boot. Thank you Tom! You really know your stuff, and it shows!
Magdalyn Elizabeth
They have done an amazing job with this flagship location. If you’ve just moved to Seattle, just buy the membership. You’ll eventually go to REI more more. So just bite the bullet and buy it the first time you go.
Staff is always amazing. They go above and beyond to provide amazing customer services. REI must be doing something right because their employees seem so happy.
They have a phenomenal return policy.
Veronica Boe
Huge selection at the very large REI store. Friendly service too.
Taylor Gardner
This place is an outdoorsman’s haven in the middle of a giant city. All my expectations for the flagship were not only met, but surpassed. It’s just an awesome store with something for everyone.
While there’s likely some technical gear that’s better acquired elsewhere (like for mountaineering or whitewater-ing), this store very likely has the common gear for any adventurous activity.
Even if you don’t intend to purchase stuff, it’s a cool place to browse. It’s made better with it’s own parking garage and rock wall!
Prashant KC
Awesome place to shop for all your outdoor activities. It’s near downtown Seattle. The store is quite huge given that it is quite near downtown. The staffs are super helpful and more importantly full of informations. This location also holds classes for both members and non members. The parking is also reasonable. Importantly, the prices are reasonable and lots of variety. I am definitely coming back.
Sergei Opeshko
cool shop! there is everything you can think about, a beautiful interior, an excellent area around the store, an excellent choice of sunglasses, for those who want to save, there are shelves with discounts!
Ryan Ketterl
This massive flagship store is so impressive. I could spend a while afternoon here. Parking is fairly inexpensive and convenient
Baha
Huge very well organized store. This is flagship store. Must visit before you leave from Seattle
Nabil Pike
REI flagship store, for all your outdoor needs. Check out the wall, or test ride a new bike. They've got you covered!
Michael Lawrence
Cool Store. Return policy is good, at least with Patagonia products. I do wish things weren't outrageously priced but the tech crowd can afford it, and that's all that matters here in Seattle I suppose.
Carter Milnes
They're currently reorganizing- but they've made it incredibly easy to find what you need and get through their store.
Yuchen Zhang
REI has really kept me sane during the quarantine....well REI and the great outdoors but still.
I've never been a big outdoorsy person before moving to Seattle (I'm from the east coast and I just didn't feel like we had enough things to get me out there or at least it wasn't easy....). But here, we have amazing hikes nearby and there's like a million different trails during any season to explore. I know when I go to REI, I can depend on their quality, return policy, and warranties. I don't mind spending a little extra for the piece of mind. I became a Co-op member during one of their sales where they give you a $20 shopping card for your $20 membership which makes the membership free so how can you say no? So worth it!
Things that make this REI great:
+ huge selection
+ shoe measuring, backpack measuring and fitting. I found out I bought the wrong size bag and it was so helpful to get the low down on how to adjust my backpack straps and fit. Makes hiking with it so much better.
+ Classes!
+ Garage sale - check out upstairs in the back for the used/returned items. Sometimes options are scarce but sometimes you can get really lucky and find the item you need for a huge discount.
+ all the associates have been so nice - you can ask them any question and they're happy to help. For an outdoorsy newbie like me, they've really educated me on a lot of things.
Jasmine
Very knowledgeable staff and tons of selection. This is a huge huge REI store.
Katia Ortiz
This store is amazing! It has everything you need and more, the store is HUGE and the staff is very friendly. The nature decor around the store is everything, it makes you feel ready for a hike. I was looking for some new boots for hikes and I found them, the employee was patient with me until I found the right ones. Definitely coming back!
Bradford Fults
Really great REI, on par with the
one in Denver. Extensive bike section, a whole floor for clothing, good backpack section and plenty else.
Iman Ekong
Great selection and beautiful store. We went in to buy life jackets for paddling and we got 1:1 help from a very knowledgeable employee. He walked us through the options and we tried on several. We were able to make an educated decision with the employee's assistance. The return policy is also very gracious, just in case it turns out to be a bad fit once we actually get active.
Misty Swimmer
Love this store. It's so big. Has a play structure for children.
Lots of helpful staff.
Very roomy.
Clean washroom.
And the garden at the entrance us beautiful
Johnny Dasher
This place is pretty sweet! I've lived in Seattle for 4 years, and I should have come here sooner. I just came in for an exchange in size for a rain coat but it's a pretty cool store. Plus customer service was very helpful.
Larry Martin
Very cool store in Seattle. Parking was easy, and free if less than one hour. Friendly staff and amazing selection.
Johnathan Parker
Let me tell you about Jon/John Taylor (apologies for not aptly recalling the spelling of his name). He was COMMITTED to helping me find the proper outfitting for my coming trip to Switzerland + Svalbard. Sound questions to pull forth sound recommendation from him. Were that I lived in Seattle, I would make that my home store, but I live in Los Angeles.
..
..
Expect a pleasant network of sound experts who know when to weigh in, or to recommend someone else who's currently working in the store. Get the membership and check the used gear section before you get set on something brand new - the tags list the comments of the former owner. All-around very helpful place.

I believe it's the first REI store and also the largest and most stunning I've seen.
Jiayi Chen
Staffs are friendly and professional in outdoor activities. They’re super helpful with choosing the right equipment for you. Checkout staffs are very nice too! The store basically has everything you need with even more choices. The store itself is like a park in the middle of the town.
John Erickson
The store is open for business. Most staff aren't wearing masks any longer. The floor layout still feels like things are spaced out, but the crowds are also back.
Alex
Impressive size. And definitely updated nicely from when I last arrived. Very disappointed in their inventory management though. There was an item that was said to be available (not limited) but the staff did nothing more than quickly dismiss it as “if it’s not out then we don’t have it”. Pretty lazy compared to other locations I’ve been to who would’ve attempted to look and ask around for alternate locations within the store. If I had not been passing through and short of time I would’ve just ordered it for pickup from the website, which was an option.
It was not busy at all while I was there either.
Jason House
The best REI I've ever seen. Even if your not shopping, it's a really cool experience.
Mike Wilson
Massive store with very friendly and knowledgeable staff!
Max Bellmore
amazing experience. You have to go. Friendly and helpful staff. Layout is superb. I need to come back more often.
Chris Bannister
The best outdoor store I've been in. Nothing in the UK compared. Lots of helpful staff, even when trying to by shoes!
Davis Moon
If you need any gear repairs or rentals, Will is the person you want to see! I called REI and asked what the turnaround time was for restringing my tent poles, which needed new shock cord. I had just planned an impromptu backpacking trip, and was really hoping to have my poles by then, which was only 4 days away. I lucked out and got Will on the phone, and he said if I brought them in that night he could probably have me on my way, repaired poles in hand, within an hour.
30 minutes later I had my poles back good as new! He even offered to teach me how to restring them in the event I needed to do it again. On top of some the best customer service I've ever experienced, he was great to chat with. If any of my gear ever needs work, I'll be headed back to Will.
David Villablanca
It's REI, what's not to like? But seriously they have everything you need for an adventure outdoors from gear to training, there's even a ranger station with permits, maps etc.
If you're not ready to buy, there's a gear rental desk with almost everything, bring your own underwear.
J
Huge store
The entrance is creative and interesting.
Nice design of the outdoor area with waterfall and fishes.
Parking is available

I buy my yoga gear all the time, great selection
derpy cookies
It has almost all the hiking things I need but the only bag thing is that it quite expensive
Christopher Joy
Best place to buy shoes they had everything I needed to go fishing
Misty DeChant
Went in to try on Hokas and Blundstone Boots. Wonderful, friendly, clean atmosphere. Shoe salesman was so helpful and gave us a lot of useful options and not a lot of BS. Appreciate that! Was easy to use street parking. BIG store! So fun! Took the dog in as well! Love that the most! PS got the Blunnies!
DIEU TRAM NGUYEN
This is Disney land for all the outdoor enthusiasts! Love this place!
M. Scott Beaton
Do you need equipment or supplies to enjoy outdoor activities? REI is the best outfitter for all of your needs. The co-op mothership has a huge assortment of gear for just about every outside activity you can imagine, and probably some that you can't.
The staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
Scott Poppenhagen
I almost always enjoy shopping at REI. The flagship store has a great vibe and with Vivace Coffee just across the street, what's not to like?
Brian snow
I visited the REI Seattle store today and feel so inclined to write a review. I love this store. I was assisted in the shoe department by Patrick who was incredible in helping me purchase the perfect shoe for my next hiking adventure. I then went to the cycling department where I was greeted by Mike. This gentleman has helped me out in the past and I seriously can't say enough about how kind, helpful, and patient he is. He helped me fit my bike and get the perfect adjustments for my next ride. These two humans made my day. They deserve to be recognized for their exceptional customer service. I love REI because of them. Thanks Mike and Patrick!
Rebecca “Lady Reebs” Dinette
This REI is huge and had an amazing variety of products! The staff were very friendly and the design of the building (with a bike testing track and a wooded area) makes it feel like an escape into the woods from the busteling Seattle streets.
Ben Brazee
I never have a bad experience shopping at REI. All their employees are knowledgeable about the equipment for sale and respectful. The store is clean well laid out.
Yaier Ron-Rubinstein (BaBa)
Flagship and for a reason.
You must be active and an outdoor person. Then it's your heaven!
Jonah
REI is great, and their flagship store is awesome. From the foresty bit outside, to the giant open interior, it’s got everything outdoors from bikes to climbing gear to camping equipment. Highly recommend!
Juli Ross
Went in today with my 18 month old because I needed some cycling shoes. Staff were super kind and welcoming. Store was clean and they had a good, safe flow for store traffic. The experience felt almost normal thanks to the upbeat staff.
I could only try on one pair of shoes but they fit and I appreciated that the wonderful store associate pointed me in the direction of a sale option.
Brandi Montalbano
Lizzy in the shoe department gave the next customer service we have ever encountered. My husband had medical problems with his feet and she was so knowledgeable and wonderful helping us find shoes for him. Also, Saul, at the cash register was a total joy and wonderful to end our time there with. Both these two are just incredible employees. 🙌🏽
Jackson Cenusa
Amazing store, being a co-op member is definitely worth it. I always find what I need when I go and their employees have always been helpful and knowledgeable about their store. If they personally don't know about something you're in search of, they know which other employee to direct you to that can better help.
Nelson Sherry
It's hard to beat that campus. Mostly super freindly and helpful staff, albeit one was a bit of a snot. They had the European travel power adapter i was looking for for less money than I expected to pay. Their bike department was somehow depressing in that it didn't feel as alive and engaged as I would have hoped. It felt a bit like it was just doing a perfectly good job of going through the steps without much of any inspiration. Bikes should be inspirational and aspirational, please.
LR L
Ok I’ve just gotta say, I had a terrible experience at this place, but I still give it 4 stars and here’s why. I brought my tent poles here to be restrung and it took them 4 weeks to tell me that they didn’t actually have the cord my tent needed. Not only that but I was informed that if I wanted the tent restrung I would need to pick up some shock cord at a hardware store myself and bring it in. I was more than a little frustrated by this considering it’s the middle of summer and I was told it should have only taken about 2 weeks. However, when I brought in my shock cord today, a nice person named Grant that worked down in the repairs department went above and beyond to make the situation right. He personally restrung my tent poles on the spot, and didn’t charge me for the fix. Grant was kind and courteous, and even though I went in there feeling angry about the situation, I left with a smile on my face for the efforts that this man went through to make it right. Really all the employees here were very kind and helpful, I was asked multiple times if I needed help finding anything while I was shopping. It was generally a pleasant experience today and I am grateful to finally have my tent back and in working condition! Thanks again Grant, I hope you see this! :)
Margaret K
Walking here is a nightmare, which is so funny since it’s an outdoor store. Please go to the weird basement online pickup area (through the bike zone) and visit the guys down there, they seem lonely
Stephen Bohlen
Great store - - love the climbing rock, the test mountain bike trail, and the rain forest enshrouded entrance (also, awesome products to buy too!)
Steve McGrory
Gus in the men’s shoe Dept was genuinely helpful. He spent time with me and brought out lots of shoes to try and find the right pair! Great experience for me.
Jordan Stewart
Got fitted for a hiking pack today and Ben was so helpful! I feel prepared to hike the Enchantments this summer. We had an overall great experience at this store today, even with the chaos of the anniversary sale.
Will Cappon
Awesome, big REI. Apparently there is even more to it that i didn't see or it's closed.
Bucky Dodd
Like the smaller stores, the Seattle Flagship store send to be hurting for inventory. Didn't have the shoes (either model) I was interested in, but the salesperson was able to suggest a good alternative. Staff in the sunglasses and gps watches were knowledgeable about various models and very helpful in making a decision.
Apparently, somebody decided shorts aren't a thing this year, unless you want short shorts for running our hanging at the pool. Essentially no choices for hiking shorts.
Ali Williams
This is a great REI, and it was cool to see the mother ship! Fantastic selection and friendly/helpful staff.
Robert Houff
REI's flagship store is a must see even if you're only slightly interested in the great outdoors.
Alex E
You can return anything, almost any time. They are a coop with good ethics. They offer reasonably-priced, quality classes for all outdoor pursuits. Their customer service is top notch.
Tyler Neyens
Beautiful store with friendly staff. Walking in felt like a nature hike.
Darren Van Soye
The parking information was misposted. When we arrived there was a sign that said we would have to pay after staying for more than one hour. We watched the time very carefully and left so we wouldn't have to pay. But then when we left, the machine to take our parking slips and our money was turned off. Would have liked to stay longer. Felt cheated in the end.
Alex Bourdages
They have an incredible selection, and their membership plan is awesome. Was dissatisfied with all of the attendants standing around and almost avoiding my party when we had questions.
Brandon Lu
Amazing store for an amazing experience. Didn't find the specific adventure cycling route book that I was looking for, but I'm glad I made it out to just be able to walk through the store. It's an experience.
Todd Lyon
One of the main reasons I choose to shop in store is to get help from the sales associates picking out items that I'm not familiar with. In the past, REI has been great for this, but the last several times I've been to the store, I was never approached by anyone, had to aggressively flag someone down to get help, and was then met by somewhat un-interested sales staff. The flagship store itself is beautiful, and the quality of their products is really good. I just wish the staff was more helpful given the additional premium their products cost over online competitors.
Joel Dazey (Joel)
Always great customer service here, fun hang out areas outside the building (waterfall, fire pits, benches, etc)
Good inventory, and large selection
Ruth RH
I hate shoe shopping! No, no, no! Hate does not even begin to express my feelings toward shoe shopping. However, REI‘s staff made it such a pleasure that I not only bought the shoes that I went in for, but I bought a second pair and was browsing for other shoes I want to go back to look at another day. I never do that! I am normally so exhausted after looking at shoes that I never want to touch another shoe for the rest of the year. Their staff help me navigate the very few pairs that were likely to fit me. They didn’t waste my time making me try on a bunch of shoes that had no hope of working. Bravo! Where is the sixth star so I can give it to you?
kid exit
The store is difficult for me to navigate but I'm happy to explain that the REI staff are more than helpful and when I left the store today not only did I have a quality bike lock but I also had a few good chats with the staff that helped me. Turns out I never needed a super complicated combination I just needed a good big lock and 🗝️ …

Just made my second visit to the REI flagship store downtown Seattle since Covid. Bit of a light line that moved pretty quick. Once I was inside there was no issues wasn't crowded never felt like I couldn't keep proper social distance. Some great clearance sales plus picked up some camping stuff for my daughter definitely be back.
Laura McLeod
A visit to this store is an experience in and of itself. Wander through and envision the possibilities of an active life. You can find almost anything you could need or want here (exceptions apply; I didn't find what I went for), and plenty that you didn't know you needed or wanted. Prepare to spend money and dream of new adventures.
ABlun
Huge store but still your standard REI store. If you bring your 9 ft tall van you are parking on the street.
Not Becky
I love this REI store. The staff is friendly and helpful. The women that work in the shoe department are very patient and despite being ridiculously busy, they manage to remember shoe sizes and styles for multiple customers at the same time. The store is huge and the staff is friendly and doesn't treat you like you're a criminal once you walk in the store like they do in Portland or Eugene. Love this place!
Michael Dorado
Biggest REI I've ever been to. Huge selection and friendly staff to answer any question you have.
Maria
Ok, so I’ll start by saying I love REI and everything they make is great quality. If you know anything about REI, you know you’re going to be spending a lot of money going there. That said, the flagship store is so insanely busy that I just can’t handle it anymore. Maybe they need more cashiers... so anyhow, I just order what I want on line (they usually have videos for what you’re ordering, so that is way cool). You can order something at night and pick it up in the morning—awesome! With the first hour of free parking, it would seem almost effortless. Sadly, the pick up area is all the way to the back of the store and down two flights of stairs. It’s pretty hard buying a large tent and air mattress and having to haul it up all those stairs while watching out for people coming down then maneuvering your way through the store without knocking something or someone over. It’s a great thing to be able to just go in and pick up your items without standing in line for an hour but it would be great if they made a spot for the online orders upstairs or an entrance/exit downstairs. Either way, I’ll always go back.
R Churches
The best thing about REI is the knowledge of the staff; they’ve actually used the products and are outdoorsy and can make recommendations tailored to your needs. The downside is that REI almost never has your sizes except when you order online (which is easy to do and I highly recommend). Their shoe selection is top notch from trail running to street running, so is their food selection. Some of their camping cooking gear while being an extensive selection is only useful if you’re glamping or have an RV. Very very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Zach Burgess
Excellent bike shop. Good prices, surprisingly fast turnaround, and I've never had another shop give such detailed notes and explanation of the work they have done.
Denise Zbozny
Easy to find. Lots of parking in REI's ticketed garage. The first hour parking was free. I did a jacket return. The setup and people traffic flow made social distancing a snap. Staff were helpful and courteous. Thanks!
Nozomi J
I was getting frustrated waiting to be helped for shoes and almost walked away. So glad I didn't! Jai is the absolute best and they were SO patient with me and my very specific needs. They are super knowledgeable, kind, and a joy to be around. I came in not even sure if I was ready to commit to a pair, ended up walking away with 2 new pairs of shoes and I feel very good about it. Thank you Jai! You deserve a raise!
Alex
Can you guys stop using OnTrac for shipping in the PNW? Nothing has ever arrived from OnTrac. REI is amazing and luckily they have resent products I never received, but just for improvement on customer experience, stop using OnTrac. It’s not just me, it’s literally almost everyone, especially here in the Seattle area.
John Hanske
Had a great curbside pickup experience today. Very easy and the wait was less than 10 minutes. I responded to the email that "I'm Here." Staff was very attentive and wanted to make sure I had responded to the email. It was a smooth and organized process.
John Baty
My wife and I went a little after 1pm on a Sunday. The store was really busy, but there was plenty of on-site parking on the basement level. If you ordered stuff on-line for in store pick-up and you want to buy some other items that you didn't order on-line, you can avoid the super long check-out line by paying for your additional items at the rental area downstairs where you pick up your on-line order. Even though the store was busy we didn't feel crowded and we didn't have to wait at all when picking up our online order.
Ray Glaze
I always get great service at REI. They didn't have what I wanted, but they work very hard to try to meet my need.
Hans Fritz
Friendly workers and a great selection - such a fun location too. There are waterfalls and forest paths, a rock climbing wall and other wilderness immersive elements. Definitely worth a visit even if you just want to walk through. Often great sales too
Brookstorm Honorblade
Every time I've been in this store over the last 6yrs I have been able to find someone with specific answers for gear and very thorough unbiased answers. Employees are friendly. Store is always clean. Returns/exchanges have been low stress. Product selection and availability have been consistently wonderful.
Aaron Johnson
Always have great service at this location. Ignore the temporarily closed info that is posted. They are 100% open. I called them to ask if they were open and the guy asked if I was referring to the Google info cause they don't know why Google marked them as closed. So no need to call them, they are open normal hours.
Karen Mason
The most friendly, helpful employees. I needed mosquito repellant for my grand kids and I an employee stayed with me as I picked various ones letting me know which had Deet aand the ones without. She helped me find a natural one that I felt comfortable applying on the kids and myself. We got our annual park pass ( Fed) and the Ranger station employess explained how to use it and made sure we had any questions answered. Also the little hike to the store was so nice and relaxing.
Nicole Linnea
First time going in today to find some hiking boots and had a great experience. The shoe department personnel are very knowledgeable and were able to find the perfect fit! Even the cashiers are very welcoming a friendly.
David (David Soto)
Amazing products and amazing people support REI all the way!!!
Dustin Brown
It was my first time in today. I had not realized how massive this store is. It has an excellent selection of every type of outdoors items. They also have a clearance section and they do garage sales of lightly used return items. We ended up bringing our puppy to get fitted for snow boots and also walked out with some new climbing shoes. We will definitely be going back. 10/10 store.
Keenan Benjamin
It was my first trip to this magical store, and I could not have had a more wonderful experience.
Victoria quickly helped me understand that my backpack had a lifetime brand warranty on things such as zippers, before sending me to customer service for more information.
Then Rob at customer service quickly diagnosed my zipper problem and fixed it with a pair of pliers he had in his pocket!
If I was not blown away by his service enough yet, he then offered to add back a couple straps that had fallen off my zippers.
Such a wonderful experience, in a wonderful store, nestled inside a forest in downtown Seattle!
Missy
Expect to spend more than nothing. This isn't the store for "just browsing" because there's something for everyone and you might believe yourself to be an exception, but you'll be drawn in, I too. No one can withstand the powers of REI
Mikaela Keller
I always love REI and the the people who work there. My experience here recently was awesome! I did curbside pickup up for a dog vest that is supposed to help them cool down it hot wheather, I looked at it and was thinking It might be too big for my dog so I went inside the store to make an exchange for a smaller size. I can't remember her name but at the returns counter there was a woman who was helping me and they were unfortunately out of stock in the size I was thinking I needed. However she asked me what kind of dog I had (husky mix) and she also had a husky. She looked at the vest and told me "my advice is to maybe just go home and try it on your pup and if it doesn't work then order the smaller size, cause this looks like it would fit my dog!" Her knowledge and advice helped me so much and saved me a huge trip of back and forth to the store cause I came home and it fit him perfectly 🙏 Thank you REI!!
Joshua Brinkerhoff
Well... For a outdoorsy person, this place is absolute heaven. They have everything you could possibly need with all the sections well organized and fully stocked. And of course, the staff is more than helpful and knowledgeable about anything located on site. I make just about all of my outdoor purchases here.
Also, parking is free for the first hour in their lot located underneath the store.
Give it a go. You won't regret it!
Mary Jones
Oh my gosh...REI has a beautiful outdoor atmosphere with trees, waterfalls, and a bike trail. I felt very safe with a greeter reviewing COVID policies upon entrance. There was an abundance of hand sanitizer, gloves, and masks. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I can't wait until my next visit!!!
Jay Bob
As always, the staff, the store, and it's mini park were outstanding. A very good method of COVID entry restriction was in place. About 5 min of standing around, enjoying the sound of the waterfall before getting in. Then, of course went across the street for the must do Cafe Nico.
Patrick McGreevy
There isn't a better outdoor shopping experience in Seattle. I've bought shoes, skis, coats, and socks at this store and I'll be back for more, soon. I found the shoe department staff extremely helpful
Nick Simpkins
Thank you! Sally #172564
Super helpful on helping me find the most compact sleeping bag/sleep pad today for my next camp outing.
Kendra Johnson
I don't wanna say they are terrible but the customer service does need a little bit of work. I went to go buy a new backpack for a year-long traveling trip and not knowing anything about backpacks I needed some advice and they let me leave with the wrong size backpack and without adjusting the straps for me. So I ended up wasting an hour going back and waiting around for someone to help me again. So I think it would just be nice if the store employees could be a little more attentive and double check that the customer has chosen the right sized gear that they need.
Hank Stephens
REI is great. They have top quality outdoor gear and great selection. They aren't cheap, though. The help is helpful and not pushy. The lines at the cash register were long but moved fairly quickly. This was on a Saturday three weeks before Christmas. There is a parking structure. It was busy, too, but there were lots of spaces left on the lower level.
Amelia Peh
The service was superb! I was looking for hiking shoes and Lizzie and her colleague really went all out to make sure that I had a good fit. We tried it on multiple times, she got an additional insole cut for me with no obligations. I love the shopping experience and my new hiking shoes!
Sandy Robertson
Amazing flagship REI store. Very large and very impressive. Even on the very busy 12/23 the staff was friendly and the lines moved well. The amount of inventory was staggering. I hope they open a store in Tampa, FL!!!
Jean-Sebastien Normandeau
What a fantastic store.
The staff were very well informed and took their time with me helping try on different styles of clothes or brands.
During one trip I mentioned what I was looking for in a jacket, and they knew they were out of stock. but, they still have me the full treatment on what to expect for the jacket and let me try things that would be close to what I wanted. Even though they knew I wasn't going to be buying anything from them.
Mary Hornsby
Great place to find outdoor clothing and equipment of all kinds. Very knowledgeable personnel, wide range of sizes and brands. This store has a climbing wall, and free parking for the first hour. I like to go here just to look around. Spacious, and has high ceilings. Hiking, camping, backpacking, biking, climbing and other sporting equipment.
Ned
Great selection of products with a separate area for cycling and outdoor sports such as paddle boarding and kayaking. Lots of staff always around who make themselves available to answer any questions. Upstairs is all the clothing and shoes, as well as the kids’ playground. They now have a tiny coffee stand right as you walk in the main doors which is a nice addition. About an 8 minute walk from downtown, this location is super accessible.
Curt Hayes
REI downtown has the most inventory and the best service of all of the REIs in my experience. I'd buy everything, but I'd be broke with a bunch of stuff I really don't need.
Guru pragaash
Took rock climbing beginners class. Great experience:)
Eva Hoerth
I want to give a shout out to a REI employee named Gregg. I visited REI yesterday, seeking a hiking backpack. I'm a frugal shopper so of course my first stop was the clearance section. I found the perfect backpack that was hanging on the rack under a sale tag (along with other backpacks that looked just like it). When I went to pay, the backpack was ringing up as full price ($50 more than I expected). The cashier I had was not helpful (older woman). She didn't believe me when I said I found the backpack in clearance section. So I walked back to go ask an employee to help me figure out if it was on sale, and a man named Gregg was there to not only kindly and patiently walk back to the clearance section, but went out of his way to sell me the backpack for the clearance price. Turns out REI made a mistake and had a bunch of backpacks hanging under clearance when they weren't actually on sale. ANYWAY. Thank you, Gregg! You saved me $50. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have wanted to go back to REI after that negative interaction with the cashier. Gregg restored my faith in humanity. I owe you a beer (or maybe 3 or 4!).
Alec Elgood
Reasonable selection, although not quite as good for high end/technical products as they used to be. Cashiers are far too talkative when there’s a long line. Get the line moving and people out of the store
Sarah Strachan
I just had the best shoe shopping experience ever. I had an exceptional salesperson, Arieh, help me find the right pair of running shoes, he got me into a much better (who knew I was a wide?) size and made it quick and easy and pleasant bringing out 3 perfect options. He was the best!
I’ve always loved this store. Not only does our member dividend always make for fun spring shopping and I love the guarantee on all the products, they allowed me to exchange a cracked suitcase damaged by baggage handlers, no problem. Never change REI, you are the best.
Eric Ringger
Labor day sale offered great deals.
Outdoor World
Excellent customer service. Never disappointed when I come to any REI stores in WA. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable. My favorite REI store.
Patrick Sullivan
This REI store is so cool! They set the bar for outdoor equipment. I realized as I walked in that everything I was wearing I purchased at REI. They also have great deals. It's hard to restrain oneself from spending all their money there.
Angela Reed
It's huge! My only concern is that it feels like a maze, but it is truly an experience. If you want quick go to a smaller store. The downtown store is not a quick shop. Come for the experience come to enjoy it. I bought shoes here a couple weeks ago, and I was very impressed by the patience and knowledge of the staff members. They didn't just try to sell me the most expensive shoes. They wanted me to find the right shoe for me. They have weird sizes for big or extra wide feet. I didn't have to order online without trying them on.
Przemek Wojtowicz
Great store for outdoor recreation. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff to help you make a decision. The return policy is fantastic and being a member gets you money back every year. Highly recommended for getting outdoor gear that you can touch and use before buying. It's a huge store and you can get lost for hours.
Suzette Rangel
Such a great and fun experience at this flagship store. There are several opportunities to try out gear before you buy.
Anne Cisney
Always a good experience. Great shoes.
Qasim Gill
This is the best REI store I have ever been to. Check that this is the best sports store I have ever been to. The store is huge and spacious, the outdoor cycle track is rad. Incredoble experience. As always the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly.
P Tp
The service was very good at the Seattle REI can't say the same for the one in Tacoma where the manager was quite rude to us when we asked them to get a item that was up high because the floor version was scratched up pretty badly. The Seattle REI looks great with much more selection than any other camping store. They also had a loading area where they helped us find the item we bought and taught us how to use it. The employees are friendly and even gave us extra information on the item we bought to make sure we didn't damage it while putting it on and taking it off our car.
Scott Bruns
The flagship location is something to be experienced! I’ve always had lots of fun coming to this location. Great selection of gear, knowledgeable staff and free parking garage. You won’t be disappointed!
Brendan M
Smooth operation with curbside pickup. Definitely worth ordering ahead and using this service (even with the 3 day processing time). While picking up I saw a line outside that must have had a couple hundred people waiting to do in store shopping due to limited capacity rules!!
Alan Nelson
I tend to like more violent outdoor activities like hunting and fishing but this flagship REI store is full of a lot of cool outdoor gear. The staff is super helpful and friendly and the selection is quite amazing. The only downside is the cost. This place is not cheap but you get what you pay for and when I'm out in the wilderness I want gear that isn't going to quit on me so for certain things, price is not a deal breaker.
Anyway, if you love the outdoors and you've never been, you need to go to this store. The eye-candy alone is worth the trip.
Joshua Newman
Wide selection of great gear and a knowledgeable, friendly staff. Definitely become a member; the rebate pays for itself quickly. Only quibble is that they also sell lots of frivolous/fashion stuff, so you need to do your research.
Robert Malka
Amazing place. Everyone in the store went the extra mile for me to make sure I had hiking shoes that were great. Got some from clearance whose soles were falling apart and Chuck on the bottom floor glued them together for me -- and some other staff helped me clean them!! Can't recommend this place highly enough, they're really invested in your well-being.

Flag ship store. 2 story with lots of selections. Nice place to spend a couple of hours either day dreaming or planning your next adventure. Stock up on gear. We came on garage sale weekend and found great prices. The fireplace in the center is a great place to sit while you wait on the rest of your shopping partners.
Patrick McIntyre
I LOVE the entrance to the store. From one side of the street it looks like your entering a trailhead. With the trees, dirt path, and running water, it truly embodies the essence of REI. It seems silly to enjoy the entrance so much, but it's such a cool accent to a cool (IMO) brand.
Michael Natkin
Most comprehensive selection of outdoor gear you can imagine. Expensive. Generally knowledgeable staff. Great customer service, they will accept returns for any reason with no hassle. They also do ski and snowboard tuning and repairs.
Corey H
This store is incredible. They have a huge climbing tower right in front. The grounds outside with tall trees and streams make you forget you are in the city. You won't find a better variety of items so this is truly one stop shopping for any camping trip. They have rental options for equipment. The most unique thing is a station that is manned by the forest service. You can have all your questions answered about parks, trails, and services.
Priyanka Mitra
The store is massive with a huge collection. You will get everything you need for camping, hiking, biking, skiing and many many more sports. The staff are very friendly and co-operative. The collection is amazing. One stop for any recreational activity. Also, the place is so well set up - trail for trying out bikes, fireplace, a climbing pinnacle.
Varun Jain
Great flag ship store, best quality outdoor gear with lots of selections. Friendly staff and really helpful with the right knowledge. They also have rental tents and other camping gear if you don't need to buy them. Their mountain bike test track is pretty epic as well.

The entire staff at REI’s Seattle downtown store are an amazing group of people. Always superb customer service through and through. There’s such a good variety of clothing, gear and tech for just about any type of outdoor adventure seeking person from very young to old. If you have any problems with your purchase, returns or exchanges are handled with ease.
The staff are animal lovers! They’re always kind to our cats who appreciate lounging in front of their gargantuas gas fireplace.
Michael Hintze
This location is amazing. are I truly spared no expense when creating the space for this store. The natural park land, lush waterfall, test bike paths, and Rick climbing wall all make for a top notch experience. Couple that with the typically knowledgeable staff, immense selection, and you have no where else to go for all you outdoor needs.
Anna Riley
What a great first experience going to REI! Charlene in the shoe department was incredibly helpful and kind. Everyone was personable and friendly, even with their social distancing policies in place. Cannot wait to come back
Chas White
The Mothership! The REI that all others should hold themselves to. I loved all the product not normally found at other locations.
Anna Gonitzke
Best response I've seen from a company in handling the pandemic. All the employees have positive, upbeat attitudes, but it is clear that they have strict safety guidelines to maintain. Lines move quickly, keeping your distance from people is easy, and counters are wiped after each customer. Special shoutout to Carter for going above and beyond with my complicated transactions!
Pablo Cuellar
Though not exactly an apples to apples comparison, this is hands down the most awesome REI store I've been to. They have by far the largest selection of any other store in the West Coast, and the coolest layout. The constant is the friendly and knowledgeable staff that is ready to help make your shopping experience that much better. If you're in the area, I'd recommend stopping by even if it's only to check out the place, though chances are, you'll leave with another piece of quality gear or expert advise for your next adventure.

The REI flagship store is the epitome of an outdoor recreational store! And, it definitely screams the North West. I can’t believe this place has an outdoor mountain bike testing course on site. Where else would you go to buy a serious mountain bike? The selection here is incredible, even better than MEC. That being said some regular priced items are still a bit cheaper at MEC even with the exchange rate. But sale items are amazing and did I mention the selection. It’s just even fun to peruse items for my wish list.
David Cy
Large store and has almost everything you need for recreational purposes. 1 hour parking is free
Lucas Atencio
The flagship REI store in Seattle is one of my favorite stores. It has all of your outdoor adventure needs. I started mountaineering last year and was able to pick up everything I needed. I have a pretty sweet dividend from all of my trips to the store. Parking is provided for free for one hour but the drive out can be a pain if you catch evening rush hour.
Michael Markley
Always a great place to shop. Some clothing had limited size choices.
Michelle Moore
Excellent store with huge variety of items. Friendly, helpful knowledgeable staff. I always leave with more items than were on my purchase list. I'm glad they brought back the used re-sale section!
John Metzgar
Biggest REI I have ever been to, they have everything you could want for the outdoors. There are always people (customers and employees) around more than willing to help you out with anything. The atmosphere is awesome, both inside and out. Quality selection, quality gear, great people, awesome location.
Clare O
Mary in the shoe/hiking boots section was a game changer. I had lost all hope after 90 minutes of trying to decide on shoes that were either too ugly or too tight or too expensive. (I’m an 11wide and a lot of women’s boots don’t have a wide option) I hugged the lady when she found the perfect shoe for me. All of the staff were super friendly and not overbearing which was nice. I wouldn’t mind going back to hang out with these people 😆😆 worry a trip regardless of whether you need anything or not.
Steven Farnell
This is my favorite clothing store. They have a great return policy which really lets you try out your gear before you commit to your purchase. You can find classes and helpful employees that will get you out into the wood and back in one piece, and then you can get all the gear you need. This location, the flagship location, has a great bike shop with everything you need to get your bike ready for commuting here in Seattle, and they will also help keep your bike riding through the woods as well.
Tim Courter
This is the flagship REI store in downtown Seattle. For an in depth look at any product line available, this is the best branch to visit, we occasionally drive over from the Eastside. For example, looking for a new bike, they have an outdoor test track unlike any other REI. Looking at backpacks, unbelievable stock on hand to try out. The helpful employees and quality gear are all standard, but when online shopping is not going to answer your questions, and you want hands on time with many options, this is the store to go to. Parking garage isn't great, but 1st hour free, self service pay kiosk on the way out, all in all worth it for the experience.
El
Love the merchandise. Initially, had to beg for help, as 3 sales associates we're busy conversing. After having one fail to help us,we were approached by another associate, and he was awesome. He found an item, the first associate said was out of stock, and then provided great information and assistance.
Crew Moss
The staff is always incredibly helpful. The selection at their flagship store is amazing. The only downside is the amount of money I spend with each visit. If they could somehow figure out a way to do all of the above while making everything free that would be amazing!!
B KOCTOB
Helpful people. Great products as well. This is the flagship store. If you visit Seattle, I recommend you see this place. Love the indoor playground, outdoor park, the fireplace and the pinnacle for indoor climbing...and the sales REI has! Proud to be a member.
jojo munoz
Awesome place for whatever recreational gear you need for the great outdoors. Much mahalos and aloha REI.
Rob Reid
Just made a quick return of some boots I've been trying at home. I didn't have the box. And they didn't make a big deal out of it.
They are taking social distancing seriously. So I felt safe there.
Aaron Parker (HeauxbisLec)
REI- don't just stand there, buy a big pile of stuff, load it onto your back and walk to the middle of nowhere!
black bird
Very patient and kind staff in their shoes department. They spent good 3 hrs with my husband helping him select hiking boots. They even brought us some snacks while we were there ❤️
kiana ehsani
I love this place..it has everything you need to be outdoorsy. It's more expensive than other places but you can find great deals in their garage sale and online Black Friday sales. Every now and then they send you discounts and gift cards if you become their member. Membership fee is 20 bucks and you can return any shopping item you don't like for a full refund
Dorothy Chow
Really awesome outdoor shop. They offers help desks for a great variety of equipments: bikes, snowboards, sleeping bags, climbing shoes, etc. The store is huge, and the lot is even more amazing — there’s a bike trail around the complex. Parking lots are plenty and free for a reasonable amount of time. Head to espresso vivace next door for coffee!
Matthew Dean
Today I went to REI for the 1st time in really enjoyed my experience it fell just like home I just recently moved here from New York and have been a outdoors men all my life walking into the store was Very comfortable and relative to the business. Play I think if they didn't give you such a realistic store front I probably would have bought anything today but I was sold on my experience and the wonderful help that I had today. Thank you Chad for helping me with my new pair of sunglasses a hammock and discussing about the headlamps. Chad is a great sales representative for the store and we need more people like Chad. Thanks again.
HANSTERS
Love the products from here. Set up nicely to keep the clients safe!
Lura Miller
Awesome customer service! I've only been in 3 times and met the same staff member each time, who recommended great restaurants in my area and knew me on sight. Worth a visit, but definitely worth joining the coop too!
John Forrest
I love REI and go there whenever I can. Their sales are fabulous, but you have to contend with crowds. Even with the crowds, the line to check out usually moves quickly since they have all registers open. The staff is always cheerful, and are especially helpful in helping you buy the product that is right for you. This location is the best by far, but it is also the biggest, so perhaps I am biased.
Emily Michael
Open during Covid-19! But fitting rooms are closed so ladies wear leggings and a tank top, they have mirrors and racks so you can try on over your clothes. Bathrooms are open. Stairwells go one up and the other one is down. Super low-key mid week. Good luck!
Ariel Bravy
Awesome place and one of the best REI's in the entire country. There's 3 floors, and LOADS of good stuff for hiking, camping, backpacking, and all sorts of outdoor stores. This is my go-to place for everything outdoors. Their return policy is great too (bring just about anything back within one year for a refund if you don't like it) so while their prices may be higher than elsewhere, it's worth it for the selection, the quality of customer service and answers the staff can provide, and so on.
R. Arce
Took only 20 minutes to get in the store on a Sunday which was a pleasant surprise. Once inside it was not crowded and there was plenty of help to answer my questions. They had in stock what I wanted which made my day. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Benjamin
Absolutely huge REI store. Largest selection of any outdoor store I have ever been to. Plenty of ski and snowboard stuff, hiking gear, climbing equipment, and outdoor clothing. Tons of parking in the parking garage, and some street parking as well. The clearance section is massive as well.
Pan Darius Kairos
More incredible gear than I know what to do with, fantastic employees, and member only discounts that immediately pay for the one time $20 fee for a lifetime membership.
A very, very happy customer.
10/10, would REI again.
Emily Yi
Jess in the shoe department was super helpful with helping me find a pair of trail running shoes.
Amol Natu
Best place to buy various types of sports, adventure and hobby gear. The product quality is excellent with various brand choice. The staff is knowledgeable and provides great service. in-shop experience is extremely nice. You should visit it to experience it.
Reid Hemlock
What an experience. I'm going on my first 3 day camping/hiking trip and decided to get real gear rather than just whatever for day hikes. Having no real knowledge on shoes or packs I went in armed with the internet at my fingertips. To my surprise; it wasn't needed. Andy, with his 11+ years at REI and vast experience held my hand and guided me through everything I needed help with. I gave him a price range, and he not only found me packs that fit my body.... but he spent an hour teaching me how to wear, strap, pack, and EVEN PROPERLY WALK with a loaded pack. Unreal. And he blew it off like this was a normal customer experience. If this was a normal customer experience, I couldn't help but recommend this store to anyone and everyone. This is not just a great camping store, this is a great business that offers unparalleled service when compared to other businesses. I went at 5pm on a Saturday during peak hours and still received this level of service. Props to Andy and the REI team.
Miguel Sanz
Awesome staff! Just rented snowshoes and track poles. I do not have experience but Grant has been so helpful, patience and he also gave me really good tips. Thanks Grant.
Hal Carleton
Their selection was abismal. They had one kayak paddle and it was $500+(probably why it was the only one left). The entire "Paddling" section was pretty much empty. A number of their other sections were picked clean as well. Not worth the trip.
Franklin Pace
I've been a member of REI since the early 80's, and I still love this store. If you are the adventurist of heart, mind, and body, this is the place for you. The staff at this store were extremely friendly, courteous, and professional in their actions and manner.
Katherine Goetter
Went to return sandles I bought on line. I recieved help getting a replacement. Was able to use an electric wheel chair and was given good directions in the store. They're keeping all safe and clean. 👍 …
Tom Tregilgas
Got superlative service form a park ranger, the repair shop, and the cashier.
Pretty normal day.
George Mihaly
This store is what every outdoor store should model! The staff is super knowledgable, the selection of gear is huge, and the space is really really cool. I stopped in one day to ask about a local hiking trail and ended up having one of the best hikes of my year!
Chad Phillips
Incredible store!! My girlfriend and I don’t really enjoy shopping all that much, but this store is an exception. They make it a whole outdoor experience - it’s not even close to your average store. We happened to be there during their “biggest sale of the year” which certainly didn’t help restrain us from buying things. Don’t miss the opportunity to come here if you’re even just a little bit outdoorsy. Did we walk away as new REI members? Maybe.
Dave Warren
This REI is by far the best around. I had a friend in need and we were not sure what he needed for his few days on the streets but the manager Jeff helped us out by suggesting just the right stuff and not just being a sales rep. Jeff was knowledgeable and straight up on products that would work for what my friend needed.. Kudos to Jeff and his staff, he's running a smooth operation and goes out of his way to put the customer first. Thank you Jeff and thank you REI.
William Whitwell Bailey
I've been going to this REI for over 10 years and they have always been helpful! Camping, biking, hiking, and snowboarding once upon a time, they've got the best gear available and so many knowledgeable employees willing to get you the right gear.
aidan lang
I live this store i have been to it before when u was younger. As always great place to shop. However the staff didnt have a lot of knowledge on hiking and were pretty rude.
Nicole Assumpcao
Came in to find mountaineering boots and ask about my very well-worn hiking boots and was floored by how amazing the service was! Delsey (?) answered all of my boot related questions and was such a pleasure to chat with and Krystal helped with a somewhat convoluted checkout and helped us get our sale discount when the online ordering wasn't giving it to us. Thanks for the wonderful experience:)
Marie Zahradnik
If you're looking for excellence in customer service, REI is the place to go. Their staff is amazingly knowledgeable and will take all the time you need to get a comprehensive understanding of whatever outdoor equipment you're purchasing. They are a member owned cooperative and it shows!
Miles Taylor
This REI location is phenomenal. I have never come across one this size, nor with the amount of equipment. At this location, you pay for quality, along with excellent assistance. They have well-experienced staff who are always willing to offer help.
J. Bernard
Due to this being the flag-ship REI of all REI's, it's little wonder how truly incredible the inside of this massive store is laid out.
The staff are very helpful & do not run away from you when you approach them with a question. The exciting interior design presents itself as a wilderness Disneyland for adventurous folks from all walks of life.
The only con I have is that the bathrooms are so freaking far away from the entrance; in a city with a homeless population as horrid as Seattle's, this design makes a whole lot of sense.
If you haven't checked out this REI yet do so, you'll be happy that you did.
Sriram S
Pandemic times review: This store is open for online orders and curbside pickup. When your order is ready you'll get an email to pick up your things. When you get to the store you'll need to check-in by clicking the link in the order pickup email and fill out your vehicle details and sometime during this you'll be directed to a numbered spot and a store associate will bring out your things for you. The handoff is contactless. You can have them put your order in the trunk or they'll leave it on the suitable place for you to pick up.
Harpreet Arora
Hands down! The best customer service ever. REI is the epitome of customer trust and service. I will always consider buying equipment for outdoors from here. The folks at your store are very knowledgeable and helpful for any questions we have on equipment we are there to buy.
Josh Asmus
Layout is open, easy to find what you're looking for, staff is always incredibly helpful and knowledge - I've been shopping at this REI for 4 years and I've never had a negative experience
Martin Paris
The store was pretty busy, so the wax technician, Jared ended up helping me, he couldn't have been more helpful in trying on a million pairs of boots. The store overall os obviously great but the customer service was unexpectedly great.
Daniel Kessler
Very aesthetically appealing. It's a nice place to shop or browse for outdoor gear and merchandise. Much of the Cascade/South Lake Union neighborhood has been redeveloped, but you'll find a stark contrast if you approach the REI building from the south via Stewart or Howell St. Though not particularly egregious, I felt a bit uncomfortable walking through those blocks at night. I imagine those blocks will transform over the next several years.
Jonathan Roybal
The Mecca of everything outdoors. This place has its own bike and hiking trails, a creek and waterfall, a fifty-foot climbing wall, and pretty much everything you could ever need to adventure outside. A fitting crown jewel for a quintessentially Pacific Northwest store.
Ky Yont
This place is really cool, free parking for 1 hour, cheap parking afterwards. There is a short tail you can test bikes on and a huge rock wall. The walk up to the main store from the garage feels very woodsy and fits the theme of the store. My only complaint is that the prices are pretty high and the staff seems a bit overworked.
Kyle Huber
Always a great experience with REI employees. Made the mistake of buying a pair of ski bindings from a specialty ski shop. When they broke I had to wait 6-7 weeks, whereas had I bought them at REI I would have gotten a new pair swapped on immediately...
Steven N. Johnson
Visited the DT REI Sunday 8-09-20. If you go during Covid, prepare to wait in line to get in. We waited about 15 min. You must enter on the south east corner. Not the usual main entrance. Plenty of hand sanitizer at the entrance and the staff announces what is sold out (lots of things in hiking and camping). Bring your own socks if planning to try on footwear. I found that the best thing to do is shop online and pick up at the store if you want to avoid shipping charges. That way you don't waste a trip and find what you are looking for is sold out (like me).
Jonathan Weber
One of the coolest stores I've walked through. Bought a nice jacket on sale so I could walk to Pike Place Market without getting rained on. To get the full experience, park in the parking garage. You'll love it.
Victor Chudnovsky
At REI''s flagship store, you'll find a great selection of hiking and athletic equipment. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the return policy very generous (perhaps overly so). Their garage sales often feature great deals.
Derek T
It's great! Best outdoor toy store in the world.
Staffing can be light, but employees know this and do their best!
Dan Partington
Public restroom review
REI flagship store, Seattle
Odor: medium strength urine smell
Stall door latch: robust, functioned well
Toilet condition: structurally sound, some graffiti carved into the seat though. Auto flush was not working.
Cleanliness: good for a very busy bathroom
Lighting: well lit
Overall: 4/7 acceptable
Woody
A big store with a lot of choices for gear, but it's quite obvious that it is becoming more and more orientated towards the local SLU tech-workers market. For example, the biking section is very limited to mainly "commuter style" bikes, the clothing and footwear sections are very directed towards day/weekend hikers (a disproportionate number of day hiking boots/day hiking packs compared to full camping gear), and any seasonal equipment such as ski gear is completely non existent from early spring (which seems odd considering such a large number of Seattle locals are still skiing/ski-touring at this time of year).
The service is decent, and there are still a number of enthusiastic employees who have decent knowledge of outdoor equipment. However, I still kind of expected more from a flagship store of such a large outdoor equipment supplier.
Nicholas Wagner
Sign up for their email list, check their REI Outlet page online, and browse their clearance racks at the store. If you are patient, you can get some incredible deals on name brand clothing.
Once a year, they have a "Garage Sale" in the basement of this flagship store. The best deals can be found at that time, but from what I hear, you'll need to be comfortable with "door buster" crowds. Ask an REI representative for more details about timing for the Garage Sale.
superpollo116
Any store that has its own mountain bike trail is going to be good. Tack on the REI spirit to every inch of this warehouse size building and you have a very cool place. Just wish prices were a little lower, but you get quality or your money back.
Matt K
Amazing store all the things you would ever need, beautiful displays and a great presentation. These stores are an attraction a new experience every time I visit one. Also unlike other rei stores you have to ask for help you need to track down an employee to get help, exept for Tim he was awesome and was the first to ask if we needed help after being in the store about two hours. Tim was awesome!
Michelle Ishimitsu
Great selection, some stuff seems to have inflated prices, but not too bad. One big complaint, they allowed too many people to shop at one time inside the store, it makes it hard to stay 6 feet apart and makes it stressful to shop.
Robert Smith
Flagship REI store beautifully set in a little forest created in the heart of the city. Lots of great products. Everything you'll need for an expedition to Antarctica or a weekend camping trip. Prices are fair, just know you get what you pay for and what you buy will last.
Duuk Duud
Great spot to rest after a hike around Lake Union. They have fireplaces inside and out to warm up if you need to.
Jenny Mach
Never written a review like this before but I just had to say that I seriously had one of the best customer service experience here. Pete and Adrianna were exceptional in their customer service. They were so so patience with me and just extremely helpful in helping me find the perfect snowboarding boots! I was at Evo prior to coming here and had one of the worse customer service experience there. I was in the market for some new boots but weren’t actually planning to buy anything that day. I just really wanted to try on some boots to know my size and see what is out there. When I left REI in Seattle, Pete and Adrianna sold me on a pair. Although Evo had the same pair with 10% off. I definitely wasn’t going to go back there to buy from them and it was all because of how I was treated at REI. I left so happy and so proud to be a new member of REI :) So thank you for being so kind, patience, and nice!
Asad Rehman
Had a wonderful experience buying a bike, test riding it and customizing it with accessories. William was an outstanding sales rep and made the entire process painless and enjoyable. The bike workshop was a little busy but accurate with their time commitments.
Tommy Kim
Don't really shop at the store often, I mainly use it to pick up online orders that I have delivered here. Good service to get packages delivered securely. Keep an eye out for events, sales and email coupon offers. Some good deals could be found through them. Staff here are helpful and make the store an inviting place.
Taylor Carmines
I always like to stop in when I'm in the area. I've never had my bikes serviced here, but their selection of apparel and gear is great and the staff are knowledgable!
Cameron Lowell
I'm primarily a shopper of the bike department, and have unfortunately had negative experiences more often than not. The salespeople are often not very knowledgeable, and while the mechanics usually know a lot - they generally refuse to help you without making you cough up the $$. Tighten a bolt? $5. Use their wrench? No dice. I've developed knee issues due to their poor fittings, and have gotten intense judgement when I need to return items. It hasn't always been this way, but I don't feel welcome here.
JaneA Kelley
Beautiful building packed with everything an outdoor athlete, camper, whatever, could possibly need--including (I kid you not) Birkenstock-style wedges for the hiker who needs some fancy shoes for an evening out. The staff is courteous and helpful, and I love the indoor waterfall.
Eric
Awesome outdoor equipment shop.
Nicole Armour
They were busy on this summery Friday night, there were lines with well marked socially distanced spots. We received friendly and very helpful assistance in several department. The checkout lines were long but moved swift
P Fernando S
I really like the REI store, it has a wide variety of products from different outdoor activities. The staff is very experienced and knowledgeable but also very kind and nice, never pushy. I always come back here!
Tom Fryzel
Wow!!! What a place this is!!
It is 2 very large stories with everything for every outdoors sport that comes to mind. In addition to just a "wow" experience outside, they also a test drive area for bicycle purchases. There is also a urban forest with a delightful little foot path. I am not sure if this is the flagship store or not, but it certainly far exceeds what I would think of when I think of a flagship store.
Worth seeing and experiencing if you like the outside sports.
Jess Tupper
I used to work at the Redmond REI, so it's a bit of an addiction. They have a huge selection of stuff, from Arc'Teryx to Columbia, and the store is incredibly well set up.
If you're looking for a deal and have some time, check out the garage sales. This is when returned gear is resold at steep discount, with tags explaining why each piece was returned. The Seattle REI just keeps everything in a sale area in an area underneath the cycling gear (go to cycling, it's to the right of the gear counter) but most stores have garage sale events. Choose wisely, but I've left with $10 trekking poles with no wear.
If you shop there more than once in your lifetime, just shell out for the membership. It's $20 as a one-time fee, and you'll make that back the first time you buy ski gear or a tent. (And members get to climb the Redmond Pinnacle for free on the weekends.)
It is not a cheap store, but the staff rock and know their stuff, and the return policy is stellar. Follow the sales, shop wisely, and try the Pinnacle at least once.
Sonya Reasor
The giant flagship store! If you need outdoor gear, it's here. The service is usually good, but sometimes a wee bit snotty, though it's getting better. And sadly the prices are high. But the selection can't be beaten.
rusticle40
First time at REI's Seattle "Mothership" store. Quite an impressive place! Very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Will probably just go to the Bellevue or Issaquah stores in the future. Seattle can be such a pain with parking ($$$) and getting around.
Sarah C
The most beautiful outdoor store you can ever hope for and the customer service staff has remarkably improved over the years. They host siminars for the general public to learn more about fun activities. If you're a member and paying cash remember to let the cashier know or kiss those dividends goodbye.
Richard Guboynytskiy
While I do realize that they're interested in making a profit like any other retailer, it nevertheless feels okay to spend money here. The staff is always knowledgeable and passionate about outdoors, so it seems worthwhile to support their livelihood.
Anastasia George
Anne Kelly went above and beyond helping us today, I moved several times and changed my number even more which made finding my membership no easy feat. She did not give up and kept patient the whole time.
Thank you Anne for being the epitome of good customer service!!!!!!!!!
Benj Shasha
Flagship store so what's not to like. Overall I'm very happy but every once in a while you get a sales associate who knows less than they think they do. Kid friendly, lots of great FREE courses for members and a selection as good as any site you can find online.
Peggy M
The very best REI location. The mountain bike test area in front is neat. HUGE clearance section. Free parking all day Sunday and an hour free on the other days. Every staff member who helped us knew where to find what we were looking for. Special shoutout to Justin who picked out new hiking and trail running shoes for me and my husband.
Rod Doe
REI has implemented a rigorous covid process in the flagship store. It was somewhat sad to see the store without the typical shiny happy customers about. On the plus side, there were no lines.
Heather DelaTorre
I love this store. Always clean and available parking. Never had an issue with staff with shopping or during an event. The rock wall is super fun. The staff at the rock wall is REALLY helpful and kind.
Nick
3 stars based entirely upon their selection of sleeping bags which I was thoroughly disappointed in for a flagship REI. They did not have much variety in the 0 degree down range at all! Also, the store in SLC has a piece of paper with all bags and their stats listed so you can quickly narrow your search. This REI had no such convenience.
The store is huge but so is their oversight on sleeping bag selection.
Jennifer Louie
Diverse selection of outdoors gear and friendly staff. Other stores in the area may have a better selection of more sports specific gear (e.g. Feathered Friends across the street for climbing gear), but you can't beat REI for the broad selection and good prices.
Faron Presley II
I needed some shoes, so I decided to stop in to pick some up. I couldn't believe how big this place is! Once I found the men's shoes, I was off! The staff was great, very helpful and helped me pick out the size I needed in several styles that I liked. I was in and out with a new pair in a flash!
Ric Rini
Basically the mothership! I have never been into an outdoor gear retailer as large as REI that just specializes in outdoor attire and goods. The place is like a minnie theme park for outdoor gea and you really can end up spending hours there, no joke!
the staff are super friendly and most of all very knowledgeable about the their area of expertise and if they do not have an answer, they get another staff member to assist. It really is the one-stop-shop. The venue is incredible and even if you are not into outdoor gear it's still worth the trip to stop in and check it out.
donna cochener
REI is always a great place for the outdoor enthusiast, but they've also done a great job reconfiguring the store and their services to accommodate distancing for Covid. Well done.
Raphael Hyde
Having been to several REI stores around the country, this one certainly takes the cake. Not only is this space world class, The service and staff are incredibly knowledgeable and always going to help. Seattle is certainly a granola city, so you can expect to find most of your answers under one roof. This location also has the prize possession of the gear loft, used and discounted products for your choosing. REI holds their brand to a higher standard than I think most other companies, I would hope that you don't need her writing to prove to you that they've done a great job with they're flagship store :)
Anthony Pena
Every time i come into REI downtown Seattle I have a great experience. Every associate is very knowledgeable and helpful. They help me pick the product that is right for me. I would recommend this store to anyone wanting to get new gear for a great deal.

Well knowledged staff and super helpful.
There are real good brands with high quality stuff and other well known brands but still affordable. Their clearance section (at the far end on 2nd floor) is worth exploring on every visit as every once in a while you'll find something great for a fraction of its marked price.
Time flies in this store as there are a lot of items to check and explore. If anyone hasnt tried out rock climbing there is one inside the store which you can try out. Its totally worth it.
Greg Garnhart
If all stores looked as nice as this REI does, I’d probably work in retail.
Radu Dragan
Generally a great store with a large selection and knowledgeable staff. Today it was very busy and sold out on many snow items, at least the ones we were interested in.

This is the flagship store with an amazing 3 floors of outdoor gear with an enormous selection. A 30 ft rock wall located inside, an outdoor mtn bike trail to test out MTB's and a little rock surface located next to the shoes to test out hiking boots. They have thought of pretty much everything!
It's super organized with room to roam around without feeling like you're in a sardine can. THIS STORE HAS A RANGER STATION LOCATED INSIDE THE REI itself.
The workers here are all exceptional and willing to help with any questions or queries.
Come by this store when you're here in Seattle. You won't regret it (until you get your CC statement) but it's a long term investment in FUN!

Great place for large and small. REI have a fantastic range of products both performance and casual.
Consider the great design of the building, healthy food options and kids play area and there is little not to like.

REI is a really great place. The entire staff is super knowledgeable and their 100% satisfaction guarantee is great. Even if I find something cheaper elsewhere I'll still buy from REI because of the guarantee. I'm never worried about buying a bad product.
Thomas Deml
Cool stuff, but expensive. Ever bought a box of matches for $8. I did at REI. Ever bought 15 blister bandaids for $10. I did.

You will definitely find some piece of useful camping equipment or clothing, but it could be of a noticeable price. Solid place to browse at least.

Stopped in to the have my ski bindings adjusted to my new boots. When asked if I could pick them up later I explained that I had a time restriction and had to hit the road. Not only was Tennan super accommodating, getting me dialed right away, he was extremely knowledgeable and willing to explain the nuances of my particular bindings. Most importantly explaining why I don't need to overthink it. Thanks for the peace of mi
nd and the stoke Tennan!

This is like the REI theme park. This is a flagship store that is worthy of the flagship designation! I bring anybody who's remotely interested in the outdoors here. It's easy to feel like an enthusiast when you're inside this REI playground.
Ilisha
This is the biggest REI I've ever been to. They even have an indoor climbing wall. I went there to rent a tent and sleeping bag but just be warned that they run out of rental gear pretty fast so it's safest to reserve before your trip.
Ashley Gould
The flagship REI does not disappoint. Three floors, with extensive sport section, rentals downstairs, and plenty of clothing and shoes. There's also a climbing structure for the kids, a rock climbing tower, and a waterfall out front.
If you're not familiar with REI, it's an all-around outdoor goods store. Pay $20 for a membership and get money back on every purchase in the form of a yearly dividend. Also check out the garage sales in addition to the outdoor events and classes.
The bottom floor can be accessed by elevator or by the stairs in the bicycle section.

The flagship REI store. I've loved REI since i was a kid, and it was great to go here. They have so many things a normal REI store does not have, in addition to it being the prettiest REI iIve ever seen. If you like outdoor stores this REI is the best place ever.
bensommers
Awesome service as always! Had to return one item and pick up another. Process was smooth from start to finish and I appreciate that they were enforcing masks and social distancing. 10/10!

I met Amanda, a PT employee of REI on a camping trip in GNP. I had a brand new backpack from REI. I was never properly fitted for it. She stopped and helped my adjust it properly. It was very ill fitting before. She helped make my trip a success. She went over and beyond her job dutied. Thank you very good.

It's the best outdoor/sporting store out there. Very helpful and friendly staff! A shout out to Alexa and Paul who helped me choose my bike and it's accessories! You guys are the best!

Is it weird that I wanna live here? This store has an amazing selection. I couldn’t believe it. Every time i go I’m amazed and I spend way to long in here. It’s a trip i always look forward to
Sean Aryana
Friendly and helpful staff, great selection, and no pressure what so ever when trying things out. If you have any questions about getting new gear, this is the place to go. While you are at it get a rewards card for 10% cash back at the end of the year.
Tracy A
Always a great experience. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful staff. If you are an outdoor person, this is the place to shop!!
Esther Lin
Amazing service! Tsetoh (sorry if i spell it incorrectly) spent 1.5 hours helping me to find the best hiking shoes to fit my strange feet (women size 11, so it’s long but also thin and flat), I tried like 6 pairs of shoes based on his profession suggestions. HE IS JUST AWESOME!
Hannah Hudson
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Beautiful location with a test out bike trail, a walking path, a waterfall and a climbing wall. Everything you'd want and come to expect from a quality brand.
Tyler Lund
REI is a really cool shrine to all things outdoorsy. They have a waterfall outside, a trail for testing bikes, a climbing wall, and a giant fireplace inside. The selection is unparalleled from hiking boots to winter coats to avalanche survival kits. Prices can be on the higher side but nowhere else will you find such a huge selection. They even have a small hiking trail to test new boots on!
Chok Sheak Lau
I haven't had much experience with the store, but it looks great like a small amusement park, and you can expect excellent customer service. Not sure about pricing and warranty details but I think paying a slight premium for a vast selection is worth it, especially if buying something that will last for several years.
Naomi Anelapumehana
Ranger station inside REI is very accommodating. They have an impressive range of products. I can always count on REI to get our family outdoors and living!
This flagship store sets standards for customer service, presentation/display and sustainable awareness for all wanderlusters! The Jansport children’s tree house (play area) is a tremendous help when I shop with my kids!
Luis Congdon
One of the largest REI's with lots of helpful staff and all REI stores have a 1 year return policy. One of my favorite places to get camping, hiking, and outdoor gear.
Aryn
Flagship store! Every employee we have spoken to is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. There is no sales pressure and honest opinions on gear options.
Ken Bergmann
A wonderful place to poke around and shop. But good luck finding some help in the shoe department! They do their best but it's just too many people. So make sure you aren't in a hurry.
Elle Thompson
High end outdoor gear. Great selection of items for rock climbing, camping, backpacking, bikes (including an outdoor, on site test track to try them out), books about the natural world for adults and kids, maps, and lots more. If you want to do something outdoors REI has the gear. Unfortunately, REI is rather expensive for my budget but I did buy some carabiners for my keys that were reasonable.
shreyas gandhi
Outdoor sports equipment & very knowledgeable staff, esp Jim from the bikes section.
Garrett Albers
Beautiful store! The perfect stop for all your outdoor needs. The store features a rock climbing wall, large fountain, small restaurant and even a forest ranger at a desk!
Gregory Susinger
Love this place, I always try to provide them with my business. A very close friend of mine was employed by them for many years. The company culture extends through the practices of treating their employees with great respect and that is evident in the care I receive with all of their staff.
ohad meiri
The store is huge. It has a great variety of camping gear clothing, daypacks - you name it.
It is located in a busy area so parking can be an issue.prices r a bit high but if you are a rei member you can use a member discount.
Jonathan Dinh
This is the flagship store. They have everything here including a used good section. The store is clean and organized and have I already mentioned, it has everything. They also have a rock climbing wall that I wanted to climb.
Barbara Wilson
Got a roof rack installed on my car. My appointment started right on time and Chris did a great job on the installation and gave me a demo once it was complete. The whole experience was professional and courteous. Thanks REI.
Claire T
Love supporting local! Great experience ordering online and using curbside picking up. I appreciated the helpful email updates on the order and the staff were super helpful and friendly.
Bryan North
Friendly and informative staff w quality products!
8/16/20: the ranger at the ranger station was extremely rude to me, my girlfriend & others. Too busy looking at theonion.com to care about his job.
Miranda P.
Greatt selection of outdoor gear! The store itself is truly amazing complete with a bike test trail, climbing wall, bike repair shop, water sports area, restaurant, and the first corporately maintained forest in Seattle.
Bobby Young
What more is there to say that hasn't already been written. This store is a wonderland for outdoor enthusiasts. I don't know how many times I've gone in to get something real quick and an hour and then two hours go by. I wish I had more money but I'd lose it all by spending it here.
Justin Rose
REI has never let me down. They always have what I need at a reasonable price compared to its competitors. This specific store was very impressive though, if you're in the area check them out.
Seth T
Great place for camping and outdoor equipment. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices seem a little high but it is a co-op and you get 10% back if you are a member so it isn't too bad.
Michael Hampton
If you can make it through in less than 1 hour, parking in the REI garage is free. Great selection of higher end outdoor gear. Most of the shoes are cheaper online though.
Teresa Rojes
Such a beautiful REI. There's a great sale and clearance going on right now. I got these sherpa lined suede Tevas for only $38 normally $100!
Max Kingsbury
Great selection of outdoor gear and lifestyle clothing. Very friendly and helpful staff. May come up a little short for extremely specific gear, but covers all the bases well for outfitting.
john spickelmier
Learning something new every time we come to this store. Main source of all our outdoor and traveling gears. Best of all....100% customer satisfaction policy. Staff, knowlegable, always helpful to help.
Robert MacIntosh (Robert2remain)
The feel of the place is so warm and welcoming
Brieanne Mirjah D'Souza
A true REI experience. Parking structure is free
James Barnett
If you want to know a particular Seattle personality you'll find people with these traits at the downtown REI. Most of their product is useless, but you can find great buys on used gear upstairs.
Joe Bowser
REI Seattle is AWESOME. It's more like a theme park than an outdoor equipment store with an actual US National Parks Ranger desk right in the store!!! There's also an outdoor Mountain Biking trail for testing out mountain bikes. This is just over the top awesome!!!
Laura
I really appreciate the folks in the shoe department who helped me try on like 50 pairs of shoes. There was no pressure to buy. Very helpful folks!
Shivani Pant
BEST staff and great location!! The lady helped me with finding the right shoe for me so so patiently.
Amy Taylor
I was fitted for a backpacking pack by Steve and he was INCREDIBLE!! Such wonderful customer service!
Michael King
Great. They do not have what I am looking for or anything close, but the stuff was nice and there was plenty of walking room and hand sanitizer was required and given upon entry. Plus a friendly helpful staff trying to help.
Charles K
Love REI! One of the best places to get outdoor gear from hiking, climbing, riding bikes and camping. This location has a large man-made rock wall you can climb. There is also an outdoor walkway to test out your hiking shoes before purchase.
