Reviews of Wolf Hill Forest Preserve
Absolutely love this place and the trails are perfectly marked, it is also listed on All Trails in case you're a beginner so you basically will never get lost. My hound LOVES it here. There are trails for beginners, intermediate, and advanced hikers and the view, WOW. Super dog friendly people who come here too so Leia made a couple friends along our hike. 10 out of 10 :)
Great forest trails. Fairly rocky at certain points, but still passable with sure footing. Except for the electric transmission lines at some points along a couple of the trails, Wolf Hill has good nature immersion.
Great trail to hike. A lot of great things to see and tye view at the end is spectacular.
a beautifully rocky hiking trail! the panoramic views are worth it! ☺️
Many a time have I visited this place, and in those many visits I have always found myself enjoying the hike and the views from Mercer lookout. This is a place where you can spend a nice fall morning breathing the fresh fall air and basking in the warmth of the late year sun. I would highly recommend brining a pair of binoculars to the lookout in order to fully enjoy the view from that point. I will always love this place and expect to wander back here for many years to come.
I liked this trail loop. Hiking on a Monday, very quiet. Enjoyed some of the views and amazing rock on green trail. I only got confused on the red trail near the power lines, so got to pay attention. Will come back later in the fall.
Beautiful place to hike! Doing the loop is a bit over 4 miles and well worth it for the views. Lots of rocks underfoot, might want to use caution if hiking while it's wet outside
Pleasant, well marked and easily accessible trails.
This place is pretty great. Well marked trails, great map, nice terrain. Lots of birds.
Nice trails, well marked, wear good shoes lots of rocks. Family friendly, dog friendly and lots of parking.
Me and my dog love this place. Most of the time we do a large loop. I'd say its maybe 5 miles give or take. There is a rock quarry with a beautiful look out as well as this scenic outlook that looks over providence. I do run the dog off lease. Hardly ever see people. 2 to 3 at the very lost at time you wont see a soul. During the rainy season and winter it does have large puddles so boots are good for those occasions. There is also a lake that runs along one side of the trial. 5/5 would recommend to any one.
Came during late in the fall season but the colors were still brilliant plus the leaves on the trail added to the effect. Loads of rock the trail making the trail remind me of the ones back home in Colorado. Was a great start for the morning with an easy work out.
Great hiking trails or spend a quiet day fishing. There are many trails to choose from that range from difficult to moderate. The trails are clearly marked with colors and very easy to follow.
I don't think my pictures do justice. I appreciate mother nature in all its forms. Highly recommend the hike!
Very nice trails. Lots to see and explore with some good challenging terrain.
Good place for moderately easy hiking. Multiple trail options.
Was pretty fun cool to get lost in the trails and forest is kinda interwined with the streets and nice quaint little houses and the people around were really nice definitely enjoyed my visit to wolf hill forest
Decent hike. Very hilly. Paths are often rocky and have a lot of roots. This would be 4 stars, but a lot of the trails are closed for habitat rehabilitation..
Super nice place. Didn't get to do it all tho, but I'll be back fer sher.
Large trail, decently popular but large enough you feel alone
So many places to hike in this area but none of them are marked. Definitely bring a map or use an app when hiking here. There is plenty of parking at all trailheads and it's pretty scenic and clean. I'd judge the paths as moderate+ difficulty, mostly because of the lack of direction.
Beautiful hike that you can make as long or as short as you want by taking different trails
Easily connected trails, good elevation changes and mostly clean. No trash cans so be prepared to pack out everything
Trails are well marked , great for dogs , good work out.
Great day hiking with my dog Apollo. We met some nice younger friends.
First visit. Great place to hike and trail run. The old stone quarry is rather hazardous due to loose gravel and cliffs well in excess of 12 ft, be aware when walking this area.
Great hidden gem hike in smithfield, nice view of prov skyline
Nice walk trail and scenery.
It's a very nice trail for a couple of hours on a warm day. Some people might need a hiking support sticks for some portions, but for the most part of it, it's not needed. Great day we had as a group
It is a Great place to hike if you have and energetic dog l. It was fun but the trail markers are confusing and we got a little lost but we found are way out, will definitely go again but only walk on one trail or two trails. But overall it was fun and had a great time
Beautiful!!! 1st time there. Great place to unwind, kayak, fish, kiss!!! Loved it all.
Very peaceful area especially in the snow. I spent about 20 minutes just listening to the ice move.
One of Smithfield's many precious outdoor spaces that can be utilized by the public. Incredible views with all variations in walking levels. Lots of beautiful rock/cave formations for picture taking or just exploring and of course climbing.
Nice spot so close to the city!!!
You leave the noise pollution and concrete of Providence just ten miles up the road.
Hikes are serene and fairly challenging....inclines and declines throughout!!!!!
Great for families!!!!!
It's been increasingly visited by folks and we bring our covid-19 masks with and carry around our wrist for application upon passing others.
It's very peaceful place to visit and get some exercise.
Not too strenuous. Watch out because after a snow or good rain parts of the trail disappear like the Red Trail.
This was a great hike. Short section of steep up hill. We hiked most of it in the rain but the tree helped keep us from a complete wash out. Looking forward to doing this again!
There was a bit of confusion over powers line crossings but it just added to our mileage so it worked out. We went the wring direction, bring a map and keep looking at it is the best advice I can offer.
One of the nicest places for bushwalking I've found in Rhode Island. It has some hills (which I like) and views, and is big enough for spending a couple of hours walking and reflecting.
Nice place for a quick hike
Nice place to hike with my dog
The view of the lake from above was breath-taking.
Great place for a hike. Not too challenging for our kids but enough variation to keep all of us interested. Canoeing in the reservoir here is also nice.
Very nice walking/light hiking area, trails are a maze and not marked well in various places
Great hiking trails. Just be ready for some hills, rocks and tree roots. Not suggested for smaller kids.
Delightful bit of nature to escape to for a few hours. Steep ascent from free parking, then choice of several gentle wooded loops.
We love coming here! It's always so gorgeous and we've never encountered anyone who wasn't ready with a hello and a smile!
Great hiking spot for a quick trip if you're local. Easy to get in and out of and there are just enough trails for you to get a variety of hikes.
It's an awesome set of trials. Good moderate hike. some places can be challenging for young ones in the rain, but it's great.
Nice hike thru woods; mostly level. Good view along lake.
Lots of different options with the trails. It was a little crowded, but still very nice
Definitely a workout. I suggest you take a picture of the trail map before you go if there's to maps to grab. After the hike, sat by the lake and watched swans while cooking off
Nice hike. Trails are well marked. Somber moment at crash site of military plane in 1943.
Very nice place to hike, as long as you aren't looking for any elevation.
Was very Peaceful not 100s of people bothering you, trails about 4miles , paths clearly marked.
Nice trails to go to. Not much elevation, good for littles and dogs
Great place for a hike with multiple trails. Not too many peak views if that's what you're looking for
Good trails. Some steep uphill trails. Some rocky. Stayed mostly on the green trail. Trail map at entrance, take a pic.
Fun! Somewhat rigorous hike. Although small first waterfall I have ever seen in RI.
The map may need to be revisited as to which trail connects to another.Where the Wolf Hill trail meets the Power Line area needs clarification.
Rusty had fun on our walk!
Not very well marked trails. Nice area though. Can get crowded.
Nice woods, not extensive, but a few steep rocky climbs.
Great for the disabled perfect place to get shade when fishing
I've recently gotten into hiking locally, and this spot offered various type of trails whether you want a flat trail or something more challenging.
Nice weather for a hike. Went different trail today and loved it
Nice hidden gem. Trails well marked, some places steep.
Great place to hike and great place to bring an energetic dog that loves to hike.
Beautiful trails. You can go for a short or long hike.
I love this hiking trail.
Nice lake and awesome trails. Only problem is the sound of cars in the distance while on the trails.
Pretty long, windy & rocky hike up to a vista of the Providence skyline. No water views to speak of though.
Great hike. A lot of the trails are closed for habitat rehabilitation
Great easy hiking trails, well marked, dog friendly
Beautiful place to hike...varied levels of challenges..
Very well marked trails.
Great fishing spot for kids. Nice deck area for easy casting.
What a beautiful place! There are even hills, a rarity in RI hiking.
Beautiful trail. Moderate. Bring good shoes
Awesome!!!! Just watch your step. Lots of rocks to roll an ankle!
Wonderful, peaceful trail with nice views.
Close to Providence, nice network of trails, seems bigger than it is.
Love these trails Awesome nature walks

Bueatiful!
Awsome time
Had such a fun time! Trails were well marked and there was a beautiful view overlooking Providence. I will say I almost didn't go all the way because the trail passes through a massive powerline trail and I almost didn't realize, that was the only hiccup
(Translation) Beautiful place, you can also go in the company of your dog
(Original)
Hermoso lugar, además puedes ir en compañía de tu perro
