Reviews of Roger Williams Park
Roger Williams Park is my favorite place for walks and enjoying the nature. You can relax, do some exercise, have a picnic, read a book or enjoying some music. There are events at the Temple to Music and food trucks some Fridays. They always offer recreational and educational attractions. The Park is huge, with trails, beautiful lake and a lot of cute animals. I really recommend this place for you, your family and your dogs. Everybody loves it ❤️
I went for the Asian Lantern showcase. It was beautiful! You could still view most of the animal exhibits. The lanterns were even more gorgeous after sunset. Great event to take an evening stroll with loved ones and family.
The park is always a great day for the entire family whether your visiting the animal exhibits or just hanging out at the carousel, paddle boats or just picnicking. The Christmas display is second to none though. Best set up around. 5 stars.
We visited the Roger Williams Zoo today. We saw so many different type of animals including giraffes, zebras, otters, toucans, elephants, cheetahs, etc. I'm always weary of zoos because I worry about the habitat enclosures the animals are in. Is it spacious enough? Do they have enough greenery? But I felt for the most part the animals had plenty of space and their habitats we're close to what they would be in nature. You're able to see the animals from more than one viewing area, which makes it less crowded. The zoo also had a food area and a gift store. They had interactive stations for goats and armadillos which the children loved. Aside from the zoo, we made a full day of it by visiting the Botanical Gardens and the Carousel for a minimal fee The park also has swan boats you can ride on the pond. Overall, we had a full, fun day!😊
Easy to get to with a lot of entrances. Good 3 mile loop around the lakes. Lots of other walking paths as well. Good spot for and evening picnic or walk. Went to food truck friday a few weeks back and was able to find parking easily.
We love this little zoo featuring a number of amazing animals. You can easily spend a day if you are not in a hurry. Currently, they have a beautiful Chinese lantern animal display. It is a separate ticketed event in the evenings, but they are still impressive during the day as well.
I live a stones throw from the park! I enjoy early morning walks with my dogs. Everyday offers beautiful landscapes, plays of light between sun and water, hidden serene getaways to reflect and meditate. I love my park!
We went to Roger Williams Park to see the Asian lantern display and visit the zoo. It is definitely one of the better zoos I've ever been to and I was happy to see how large the animals enclosures were. The Asian lanterns were very beautiful and interesting. The zoo is a good size and takes a while to leisurely walk through the entire zoo.
Very nice park within providence. Very scenic to drive through. There is a lot of different attractions within. I went on a Thursday, so there was plenty of parking everywhere.
Very clean! Much appreciated! I just hate now that you have to drive all the way around the park to get to the playground area if you come in the main entrance. I don't like how they made it all one way just about. Still a place I love to take my family to and get photos of my clients at times :) Always has been one of my favorite parks to go to. I am lucky I got to grow up next door to this park. I have many memories :)
Beautiful place to visit! The swan boats were our favorite. The garden was a little disappointing but maybe my expectations for a Japanese garden in Rhode Island were too high. Would definitely go if you have the time!
Gorgeous zoo in the heart of Rhode Island. Perfect for a day with the family or a great place to inline skate, ride your bike or run. Also great for product photography ;)
Roger Williams
Park has down S excellent t job updating their trail systems. Take a quick loop walk or a longer one around the whole pond. Check out there trail maps on their website. The trials are a combination of dirt paths, bike paths and some road walking.
Such of Beautiful & amazing family park 💯 ✔👍Fully -loaned carousel 🎠 little train 🚂 lake 🚣♂️ japanese garden the zoo is beautiful specially at night with the Lantern 🏮 spectacular food trucks 🚚 😋 ✔ and entertainment what more can you ask for❓ …
Really nice Zoo. Accommodating for families. Two large eating areas. Benches throughout the park. Great animal exhibits. Clean and reasonable admission prices.
My family went to the Jack -O-Lantern Spectacular!! It was more Spectacular than you can imagine ! Such great talent and amazing work goes into this. My second time and it never gets old. Great for ALL ages. Watch my video below...enjoy ! 🎃 …
Pumpkin spectacular 2021 was incredible! First time being able to catch this event, and it certainly did not disappoint. It was seriously crowded with people and parking was a chore. However, still 5 stars for the incredible pumpkins and overall experience.
Spent my Halloween evening there. The park was great and had a lot of fun. There were 6000+ pumpkins crafted and painted. It was spectacular and a must visit place!!!
Loved loved the jack o lantern event. So beautiful! Definitely worth the money. Will definitely make this a yearly thing for our family
Great zoo for a school field trip. The 1-3 graders had a great time. Will be going back with the family.
Pretty good place to walk with your family. Many areas to explore. Especially during fall season.
What a great find with so much to see and do. Park is extremely well maintained and home to at least 3 weddings today
Fantastic animal experiences, loved most of the exhibits. Was well worth the money. Only downside, most food locations were closed and only option gave a cold burger, fries were surprising good though. You don't go to a zoo for food but just sad there isn't something better since they have you as a captive audience.
This was a fantastic park in which to spend the afternoon with the family. We rode in a swan boat. There was a merry-go-round and small train for the small kids. It was busy, but there was plenty of parking.
I absolutely love this place. Every time I go, I always find something new. Great place to picnic, walk, bike, even go to the zoo. There is a really neat carousel in the park as well. It is also a fantastic place to take pictures.
A fun place to spend the day with family.
Clean environment.
Kids love the " Our Backyard" area.
Originally came here to see the Japanese garden but had to leave due to another appointment we had (gondola in Providence, highly suggest you guys try it out)
My dad was so impressed by this place that we had to drive back the next day and that we did. The Japanese garden wasn't as big as expected but that might have been an error in our judgement, since - well - it's a garden. However, the little that was there was absolutely stunning. Perfect place to catch a book or just even the sun. The tiny bridges that there were really cute and a perfect place to take some photos.
Really great zoo, we got to see the elephants close up and one of the giraffes and it was awesome. I imagine that winter is rough on zoo's but it was awesome to practically have the zoo all to ourselves in such a beautiful park!!
A nice state park near the Providence downtown. The park is huge and has multiple entrances. There are multiple small lakes and is really picturesque. Some of the attractions are the Temple of Music, the zoo, the Rose Garden & the Japanese Garden. There is a Corousel village at the center near the Japanese garden where there are food trucks and music shows arranged. The Japanese garden is beautiful with a lot of bridges over water bodies. You can spend the entire day here with friends and family.
Thrle light display was very good with music and themed areas. So many different colored lights and scenes. Worth a trip with the family.
It's ok, pretty regular zoo, similar to what we've seen in other cities. Kids liked it alright. Nothing super unusual or fancy, regular fast food, cheap Chinese gifts at the gift shops. The park around is pretty.
The Christmas lights were beautiful and the event was reasonably priced. They even had a fire which was an awesome touch!
Great place for a day trip. Gotta have a car to get out to and around this large park.
This large park is great to walk around in or have a picnic while enjoying nature.
Came by to see the holiday lights and was absolutely delighted! Beautiful decorations and music! Will be back next year!
Wow. I have travelled across 42 countries but i have bever seen such a unique family fun Halloween event as the jack o.lantern illumination night at Roger William's Park Zoon. The themes expressed on the pumpkins were incredible. Great for all ages. This year was a TV show theme from 1950-2000.
I went to the Halloween event at Roger Williams park. It was a lot of fun it took about an hour but watch out for the parking when you get there too many cars everyone wants to be in a hurry. But a great time for everyone.
Signage for the Pumpkin Spectacular could’ve been better. It’s especially hard to see where you’re going late at night. There is plenty of parking though and the zoo is nice.
Nice park with many paths to walk. Many beautiful areas to photograph.
Nice Park and Zoo. There is summer camp at the park. Kids have a blast.
Beautiful zoo with a nice park surrounding it. Worth visiting when up this way.
Went for lanterns decent food but parking was hard. Free parking took longer but you could’ve paid $15 for closer parking.
Massive park with so much to do. In the summers, they have food trucks out there every week and the options are really great. There's also live music during those events. Very family friendly. Haven't had a chance to explore the whole park, but I definitely plan to.
Family friendly, lots of animals to see .. very clean...
From the carousel, playscape and zoo for the kids to the Japanese garden, duck pond, seal house and casino, there's so much to see and do at historical Roger Williams Park for the whole family. My only real complaint is the litter eye sore through out the park not being adequately addressed by the parks crew.
A bit crowded on prime nights (weekend), about a 30min walk-through. People are not spacially aware of themselves, but otherwise I always enjoy the pumpkin art. Buy tickets online, it saves time.
I feel like I'm in Guatemala.
Nice park attached to the Providence Rode Islands Zoo.
Beautiful park. Great to take the dogs, go for a long walk or check out the botanical center or history museum.
We had the best day! Monday morning at 9 am and the park was pretty quiet. The animals have decent enclosures and are well cared for. Lantern festival happening, we were not there at night, but they were still pretty cool during the day.
Went to see the RI Philharmonic play ‘A Night At The Oscar’s’ at the Temple to Music. Beautiful park and amazing concert.
We came here on a bus trip. Suffice it to say it was an amazing day and night with the zoo, the included dinner and the awesome illuminated pumpkin trail. Got to see it to believe it. Highly recommended.
Reminds me of Central Park in NYC. So breath taking, clean and scenic views are amazing. Great place for parties and weddings
Great park to spend time with your family and your love one., Doesn't cost anything to get in the park and many activities to do here.swan boat ride,Zipline, horse back ride, safari of different wild animals and mammals ,species check it out you will love it.
Just stopped to eat my lunch overlooking the seal pond. The zoo is a great way to spend a few hours, rose garden is really nice too. Enjoyed the museum in the past too. A lot to do and see.
Great time with family. The wife has a family pass for the kids and goes quite often but looks great even during covid times. Weekend was pretty packed but from what my wife says is they are often pretty quite during the week days. So if you have some kids and have time during the week it might be better to take a small day trip
Didn't go to see animals but to see the Pumpkin walk. Quite amazing. Would have given a higher rating but the parking attendants forced us to pass dozens of open parking spots and park far away. They wouldn't even let us drop off my daughter with a ankle injury and she had to walk a long distance and was in bad pain at the end because of it. This is a well known problem and they need to do something about it because someone will get seriously hurt.
This was a great zoo, always enjoyed the atmosphere, the animals, the staff, everything, however our last visit (April 2021)was a night mare, the wait for the rain forest was an hour & 30 minutes. The design of the new bldg is awful when the sun is blaring in -- you can't see any of the displays... Staff was rude on several occasions during the day...And it was MOBBED on a tuesday... felt like Disney- lines everywhere... I understand the pandemic but I ordered the tickets on line & pretty sure everyone ordered at the same time!!! We thought the idea of ordering on line was to keep the crowd limited....pretty sure some rules were broken that day!!!
A nice park in Providence. They have a very nice zoo with plenty of parking. There are fields and lakes and the Temple to Music (which reminds me of something you would find in Washington DC). Dog friendly, obviously not the zoo.
The park was great. The grounds were clean and well marked for different exhibits.
We went mid week and had a young kid (7). Unfortunately some activities were not up and running which was a bummer. I am not sure if activities were not running due to COVID, heat or because of the summer camps around the area.
The park has a lot of shade and my only negative would be that the food areas are all outside. It was a very hot day when we went and I would have loved a few minutes of AC outside of the gift shop.
Due to the weather the day we went a lot of animals were not out and moving around the exhibits.
It is a park. The summers brings on relaxing, joy, laughter, exercise and the winters bring us cold snow to bring our kids to run and play. It has been the park my family has always visited and will always do so. Thank you being clean and safe.
I love this park! It’s always so clean and in most days is not busy and it’s very quiet. Lots of green areas where you can take your pet for a walk, exercise, have a panic or just hangout. It has a few attractions like the Botanical Garden, the zoo, the swan boats, the Japanese garden, the children’s playground, the Carousel Village, and more! It’s also family friendly! One of the best parks in Rhode Island!
This place is awesome for looking at all the carved pumpkins.
The lantern of lights was amazing!!!! Please try to visit before it ends. Make sure to go when its dark out...its a better experience.
My family and I really enjoy going to the Roger Williams Zoo & Park. Amazing display of wonderful animals. Very clean and hospitable.
Great park with a great zoo.
Went for the pumpkin spectacular an it was awesome lovee all the Jack o lanters they were beautiful!!!! but just alot of ppl I recommend going towards the end of ur time less busy.
I like exploring Roger Williams Park it brings back wonderful memories of being age 4 with my grandma and parents being in this park. At early 1990's I went together with my woman friend to this park and spent the most amazing day with her . it is here in Roger Williams Park I made the final decision to marry Maria and I have no regrets for 24 years marriage with us..
One of my favorite places to relax
Love this zoo.so different and unique.friendly staff .lots of animals made out of art all around the zoo.very cool..also check out the carousel and swan boat rides...
Gorgeous park with so much to offer, there is a rich history located in this park, ample parking, and many places to explore, you can easily spend more than a day in this park!
Asian Lantern Spectacular 😍loved it!
This is just a few of the many many photos taken . These Lanterns were "spectacular" Highly recommended. …
I was only here for the Christmas lights show but it was extraordinary! I was really impressed with how many lights there were and how long the path was. Definitely worth the money!
Always have to go its a family tradition.
This was an absolutely wonderful experience with the family. Even though some of the exhibits were closed, those that were open were delightful
It's such a cute park to go walking around, and prefect for Pokemon Goers! There's a few gyms and lots of pokestops all over the park.
The Jack O' lantern fest was one of the coolest memories of our honeymoon! So glad we went. The line of cars to get in told us this was going to be amazing, and it was!
I've been going to this zoo since I was a child it's a wonderful place very friendly staff
Roger Williams Park is a must see when you are in the area. This large, spacious park offers plenty of things to do for the entire family. There are several walking paths, a large picnic area to take a break and take in the gorgeous scenery, the zoo is spectacular. The park is very clean and has plenty of parking. Its hard to do everything is one day. The Swan boat is an added bonus and makes for a fun photo. We spent the day enjoying our surroundings, taking photos and making memories... after all.. that is the meaning of summer vacation.
Great place for a walk or even a little fishing in the pond. During the summer is most best as there's more to do.
Great baseball field for leagues and even fun games for anyone to just get a pick up game.
The park dos have its down sides but not much to keep me away from coming back from time to time to just relax and enjoy so time in the sun.
My family and I went to see the Chinese Lantern Festival and it was thoroughly enjoyable. It really was a beautiful display especially as it got dark!
If you plan on attending in the evening for this event I have a couple of suggestions-
1) register for the earlier entrance time. The lanterns encompass the entire park so it will take more than 2 hours to see everything
2) go mid-week if possible. The docent said visitors can number in the thousands on peak days. We visited on a Sunday and it was moderately attended.
3) take the time to see the show. Even if you aren't a fan of the particular style of dance, it was great to see them expressing their culture and sharing it with us. I have zero exposure to K-Pop, but I appreciated the time and dedication it took to choreograph those routines
4) don't expect to see too many of the live animals. Since you'll be entering the park around dusk, the temperature is usually dropping so many of the animals are brought in due to the cold. Plus, the enclosures themselves aren't lit for nighttime viewing. Just know that if you want to go primarily to see the animals, the Festival will disappoint.
5) bring appropriate clothing! Layer up, bring or wear a hoodie or jacket because there's a large wetlands loop and it's cooler near the water and the temperature drops as the sun goes down
Overall I think it's definitely a great value plus it's a great opportunity to support the zoo. In fact, I would consider attending again while the event is still going on.
Best Zoo experience I have had with a very good variety of animals.
Huge park with a lot going on! There’s so much space here, you must roam around! Great for picnics, tennis and sports, walking, and hanging on a bench by the ponds. There was a major event going on when we went, there was backed up traffic for awhile. A good place for all ages and people.
It was so nice the entire park is decorated for Christmas. So beautiful!
My daughter abs I went to the Roger Williams Museum and Planetarium for a Halloween night presented by Ten31 Productions. We had tickets and waited only for 10 minutes and away we went into the museum. We walked upstairs and then we started our journey into the planetarium. Each room we went into had a different character from Ten31. It was truly an experience.
We love the zoo, but love the pumpkin spectacular even more! A must see every year. Best in the world of its kind! This is truly art that they whole family can enjoy!
We went to the zoo to celebrate a little boy turning 5. We had 6 kids with us and no one got hurt. Everyone had fun. And we didn't lose anyone. I call that a good day. Lol.
Seriously though, it was clean, the animals we well looked after, there were trash bins and recycling bins throughout the entire zoo. Every zoo staff we interacted with was nice. Prices weren't too terribly outrageous in the gift shops considering we were at a zoo (depending on what you were looking for).
This is the best park in the whole State. Always so many things to do and see. There is a playground for kids and toddlers with a "snack shack" cafe and they even have a small train and large indoor carousel you can ride on for a small fee. Bathrooms are available and we recently found the little arcade game room! That's all just one area! You can also find a museum, an entire zoo, botanical gardens, an event space, swan boats, and plenty of walking trails with tons of statues, benches, and picnic tables all around. Very well maintained and plenty of areas to park or bike.
They do a great job with this place. You forget that you're in Providence. I came here a lot as a kid, and they've done a great job keeping it up to date. The animals all seem well-cares for, and the special events (like the lantern festivals) are always super cool.

Roger Williams Park is a little slice of heaven in RI. It is very well kept & a very large space. They have a playground for the kids too which is huge & has many different age group activities. With a carousel, ice cream, pedal boats and plenty of serene walking paths; RWP is definitely a top destination for some relaxation.
Wonderful park and Summer Friday’s will get lots of food trucks. Had a great time here.
Incredible night for a date with your other half or family.
Knowing the proceeds help the animals warms my heart too ♥
This is a large and beautiful park with bike and walking trails, a zoo, multiple gardens, water courses and lakes. Its a great place to bring a family or go alone to walk.
My favorite place to go exploring.
The 70 degree day in November made it a great place to spend a few hours out. The lack of certain animals took away from the overall experience.
Potential for so much- all of the renovations are amazing. Love the new stuff & love the white crocodile exhibit this summer !
It's a really beautiful zoo, albeit on the small size, what they have done with the space is awesome! We are members every year and love going with our kids!
The zoo is beautiful! Right now they have an Asian lantern art exhibit 🎏going on. It's a must see!!!! 😍 …
What a hidden gem. Beautiful setting, lots of animals, and an overall fun time.
Amazing must do stop in Providence give yourself atleast 5 or 6 hours if you want to do the entire park and zoo. The zoo far exceeded my expectations and Was way bigger than expected.
Awesome experience every single time!!! What a great place to spend some time with family and friends!! Friendly staff, clean restrooms, a wide variety of animals and the lightshow!!!
I absolutely love this year's Jack O'Lantern spectacular! It was a little bit crowded but it was still amazing it was only a 10 minute walkthrough and the pumpkins were amazing I love all the designs on the pumpkins!!
It’s a great park with lots of areas to accommodate whatever you want to do really. Food truck Fridays are the BEST.
Temple of Music is one of my favorite fields to bring my dog :)
I went for the Jack O Lantern walk. However, RWP is a great place to visit with the family or friends to enjoy the zoo for a day out
Light were Beutiful will go again next year
Awesome time so many awesome pumpkins
We had a wonderful day first the play ground with the kids then a picnic by the temple of music. Just a wonderful day.
This is my second time visiting this Zoo.Today more people than ever.Kids adults and others have good time.
Our boy absolutely loves going for a walk there, just wish folks were good about picking up after their dogs.
The jack-o'-lantern spectacular was great. Good portions of it you didn't even realize you were in a zoo.
This is a beautiful park, with lots of little spots to have a picnic or quite time, do some fishing. The zoo is spectacular especially for the little ones.
The Christmas light festival is amazing for the young and young at heart. Worth every penny
Great Zoo! We had a great day seeing the animals. We returned later for The Asian Lantern festival was very pretty and great to see lit up. The performances were great! The only negative is the Asian food for the festival was awful.
Was here for pumpkin spectacular and it was a great display
Beautiful zoo but why do you still require mask in only 1 building? They don't provide any and they charge you $1 a mask if you want to walk around the Amazon building, but every other building doesn't require a mask to enter. Foods a bit pricey but still nice
We were gifted a membership for our family this Christmas (by request) and love to go as often as possible. Our last visit was right before Easter and they were setting up the Asian lanters which were amazing even in the daylight! We actually saw the artist with her crew as she was giving instructions for placement and such and we told her how impressive and beautiful they all were.
But because it was before the official season opened (which is an issue when we told our hungry 4 and 1 year old we'd eat lunch as soon as we got to the zoo), the first food area wasn't open but there wasn't any signage saying if/when they were opening or instructing where to go/how to get to the next food court area. We had to ask if the first would be opening at all, which it wasn't. But the employee instructed us on where was serving food at that time. But that's the only issue I've had at the zoo. The animals seem well loved and cared for and very content.
This is truly an amazing park. Even the water in it's ponds come from a river. This park has the potential of being a miniature Disney Park. It's absolutly beautiful and situated right in the heart of Providence. The Temple to music, the Zoo and the Museum are a must see.
We visited a number of the attractions in the park. Unfortunately, the Botanic center is closed on Mondays, so we couldn't get in to enjoy the greenhouse and plantings.
Wonderful venue! Highly recommend. We went to the Halloween Spectacular and it was!
Roger Williams Park contains at least three good sized “ lakes” and the trails around provide miles of shade and partial shade walking. There are bike and pedestrian lanes on the road, Food Truck Friday by the carousel and kid fun features like a playground. By the zoo, yes, the zoo, there are ball fields and tennis courts. It was designed by some of the same people as NYC Park and the Biltmore Estate in NC, You’ll recognize that in the bridges. It’s the sort of place that makes Bostonians wonder why they don’t live in Providence..😂
Our favorite place to be any time of the year..
It was great, went for the Halloween pumpkin spooktacular, it really was amazing to see, if you get a chance to see it you'll love it.
This was my first time to go see the Halloween pumpkin fest. I enjoyed it but once you seen one pumpkin too many they all start looking the same.
Perfect place to have a picnic and walk the dog!
Had a great time. Just relaxing until those grumbling teenagers wanted to leave.
Don't like the hills if with a wheelchair. But love how close you get to the animals!! Go early to see animals outside and maybe eating.
Nice little zoo and park kinda small but nice walk and atmosphere esp the play/learn/touch area for the kids had lots cool stuff
Went for trick or treat. Had a great time with kids ❤️
My wife and I had an enjoyable stroll through the park looking at the lanterns. It was nice in the afternoon but the lanterns definitely look better in the evening.
Beautiful park and every Friday they do a Food Truck festival. Great area for walking and they have a Japanese Garden with authentic bridges. So much to do and see.
Good park with a lot to do. The is the carousel, food truck Fridays in the summer. Different hills for sledding in the winter. The botanical garden, the zoo is in there, the duck paddle boats in the summer.
An awesome place I would later judge all other zoos by. Growing up they didn't have a lot of animals, so they had large enclosures before that was a thing, lol. Everytime we drove on 95, my brother and I would try to see if we could spot a giraffe outside. My friends and I would ride our bikes to a trail that led from Park Ave to Deep Lake and we would explore the edges. The history attractions were very educational about the founding of RI. They shared the good and bad of the story, which gave me a respect for history. The park and gardens were always wonderful and the Japanese gardens were my favorite. When I visited Japan in 1996 I saw that RWP was exactly on point! They did their homework & it's still my favorite. It's a shame they have a casino. I won't set foot in it. All the reviews are of the park, historical buildings, and the zoo. That should give the managers a clue. This is a major part of my childhood from family time AND school trips.
I went to the see the holiday lights at the zoo with Dad, Lori, my brothers, Dave, Erin, and Trix
My family and I really enjoyed the zoo!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful park. So much to do and see inside the park.
Great area and well maintained. The playground has lots to do and there is a stand for food and goodies too!!
We love Roger Williams Park. The yearly Jack-o'-lantern show is spectacular! Thank you so much!
Good zoo ,just not many animals in there!! Proces on foods and ice cream etc very high!! The toys teddy bears etc is like $25 each!! Way too much.
Big park, very clean, nice walking sidewalks around ponds.
Beautiful, but too many people not picking up after their dogs
I've went to the zoo in October when they had the carved jack o lanterns it was such a cool experience. Definitely a zoo that has alot to do all year round. 100% recommended visiting
That's our park and let's keep it clean and looking great for our children, childrens, and for our next generation to enjoy as well.
Love this place ❤️ summer or Xmas season is exceptional for the whole family.
My daughter loved it, animals were roaming about and the staff was very pleasant.
Great park to visit. The botanical garden was nice. Loved how big the park was and the path they have. Perfect for a group or just want to get a breath of fresh air.
This zoo is extremely well organized and clean, and the exhibits are laid out very well. Each animal exhibit has almost 360° views and you can get such an up close and unique look at the animals!
If your looking to take pictures, this is one of the places to go in R.I. 😉
-I love it here, there's so much to do (on any budget) besides the Zoo. Enjoy one of the festivals, have fun paddleboating, picnics, kite flying, playground & merry-go-round, take pics, or visit the Planetarium (for just a few dollar donation) 😃
The museum is very interesting and worth visiting. Park is a gem inside the city.
Rose garden needs help! It was overgrown with weeds. Trash cans were overflowing and it seemed a bit dirty. Roses were beautiful.
My family and I have always enjoyed spending the day at Roger Williams Park and once again, had a great time. Went with my 17yo son and we really had a fun day. Very clean. Animals looked healthy. Very nice staff. I recommend this park for families with children. Zoo is big enough to see a lot of different animals which would keep older kids interested. Would suggest a stroller for younger kids. Under 4. Only negative that day was no elephants outside. Only one inside. We were disappointed but it didn't ruin our day. Recommend with confidence!
Great Visual/Audible experience with their Christmas Light Spectacular! Fantastic displays with a different song playing in each section.
Also, gift shops, concession stands and bathrooms were open.
Highly Recommend!!!
Loved the lanterns. We spent over 2 hours enjoying the evening in the zoo.Saw a few animals up close too.
Always a nice place to relax, eat lunch, take a jog, go to the zoo, and play tennis.
Cute little park, but the things you have to pay for are over priced for how small they are.
Great Place for a small picnic date and read books
A very nice park in providence, great zoo, temple of music is great area
What a mess Sunday for the 1.50 tickets. We expected it to be busy but they had no control over parking at all. We had to park over 1.5 miles away. Then we get in and half the things don't have animals. The best exhibit the rainforest indoor with the tiny money's was closed. I know it was early in the season but it was not handled well at all. Overall though it's a pretty ok zoo
Small zoo, had a good time here with the kids. Beautiful area surrounding the zoo for a picnic or stroll.
I loved the zoo. I have lived in Texas for 9 years. The San Antonio zoo is great, but I have to say that bigger isn't necessarily better. Every exhibit was special and the animals seemed to be engaging with the public. I loved the landscaping surrounding the enclosures. It made both animals and humans comfortable.
This park has really come up on the last few years! I grew up coming here and loved it, then it quickly deteriorated. Water was gross, old signage, delinquency abound. It has since been cleaned and updated and they are holding events here every week! Love the new bike/walking path, the cleanup of the hiking path and the new signs. The updates to the Temple of Music are awesome as well as Food Truck Friday by the carousel. Best event yet!
Beautiful.. peaceful. Love spending time there
Wonderful place! Always love coming to the zoo!
My dogs love the grounds here. Great walking and they can cool off in pond.
Went to the pumpkin spectacular last night and had a great time !
So much space to walk! There is a playground for the kids, paddleboats, and a zoo! If that's not enough for you I think there is a planetarium here too. I love how green the park is. Great place for a picnic
So awesome to see the different animals and excited children so fascinated by them!
Great place for kids. Zoo is awesome and they have great events for kids and adults.
Beautiful! Not packed and very sanitary. We visited the zoo and it was great! We arrived a little after our timed ticket time due to traffic and they didn’t give us a hard time about it. I
Loved the elephants!!! And petting the goats. The donkey and my baby were buddies lol.
Try the botanical garden inside the park.
Thank me later.
My phone died so i dont have photos
Beautiful and lots of space. Variety of things to see and do.
Always a great place to visit, great sceneries.
Great park. Practically our back yard. One thing though. They need more trash barrels around the water trails. Playground is huge. Carousel is awesome. And the activities they have are great for the kiddos.
Beautiful zoo! There is soo much to see and do there. My kids, my husband and I loved it there. We did it all except for the carousel ride. The soaring eagle ride was amazing. It's quick however the height was insane. Also being able to go indoors to see free roaming monkeys and birds inside the rainforest exhibit was amazing. They don't go to you however they're everywhere and so close and adorable.
Roger Williams Park, a zoo in Providence, RI, was very nice. It is well-suited for families as a lot of people took advantage of a beautiful July day to visit the animals. The zoo has a wide variety of animals on exhibit from elephants and giraffes to a white alligator and gorgeous bald eagles. The animals seemed well-cared for and the children seemed enthralled with the variety of exhibits. One thing that I thought was lacking was that the signage was very minimal. I like to read about the animals and was somewhat disappointed not to have more information. Otherwise, we had an enjoyable day and would recommend visits for families with children at least 2 years old.
Beautiful spot for a walk. Great zoo!!
Holiday spectacular! Definitely worth the trip!
After hours events @ the park are well organized & enjoyable.
Very clean zoo & the animals were very well cared for. The zoo had alot of different animals. I can't wait to go again.
Beautiful Gorgeous Zoo inside Roger Williams Park! Fun visit and Knowledgeable Staff! Great Place to go and experience many interesting Wildlife Species! Some animals can't survive in the wild due to injury and are rescued.
Awesome experience! Parking kinda dicey, but worth it.
Nice visiting especially for children .
Always loved our zoo! It's much better than when i was there a couple decades ago. Had a wonderful time!
It looks like a great place! We wanted to go to the zoo but they were just about to close! So we will definitely be back!
A wonderful time. Beautiful zoo. Nicely spaced exhibits allow for maintaining social distance. Warm and friendly staff. During covid would recommend packing a lunch as limited access to food points results in longer than expected wait times.
Nice, quick 5 min walk around to take before or after the zoo. Good area to lounge about with friends (or play frisbee or Cornhole) /walk the dog /let kids roam around. Good amount of people fish in the ponds. Be careful of ticks and bugs near the wood areas though.
It's a great zoo for families. Lots of animals and exhibits available to enjoy. The food and gift shops are very overpriced.
Great place to bike ride, play sports, canoe rides, carousel, play ground, gardens, zoo, museum.
First off, how can I not love this amazing place? A gorgeous scenic park with a brilliant lakebed where you can ride paddle boats filled with endless activities all involving the world around us. An amazing museum of wildlife including a life bee farm, a planetarium where you can see the stars displayed in a brilliant show of constellations based around the seasonal solstices, a vibrant botanical garden with numerous types of flora and exotic plant life, an oriental garden and so so so much more I haven't even fully explored yet!
Not to mention the zoo. I've had so many great times at the zoo! If you don't have a membership, you should absolutely get one. It really pays off!!
Went to the zoo on Sunday for my daughter's 2nd birthday. While it was crowded on this particular day as it was the zoo's 150th anniversary, the visit was still enjoyed by all.
Brought my toddler to the carousel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything seemed recently cleaned and there was hardly anybody there. Stayed about an hour and only spent $8-10. There is an option for a day pass for $20 which would be great if it was nice out and you could go back and forth between the playground and the carousel. Great activity to take your kids to get out of the house for a little bit and not have to worry about crowds or Breaking the Bank.
Great collection of animals. Beautiful grounds. Food was really expensive and bathrooms were horrid
Fun park but no activities for all ages
Great experience. It was an afternoon visit, so it was uncrowded. I had a leisurely stroll in the park and enjoyed the many animals on display. RWP is doing a wonderful job. It's a beautiful park.
I came here for the Asian Lanterns and had am amazing time. Everything was super pretty, especially at night and I'd recommend anyone to go here when the chance return's.
Went on a warm winter day and all of the animals were out and active except for this adorable "hibernator!" ☺ Zoo was clean and busy but not over-crowded.
The Red Panda having its breakfast is SUCH a MOOD. ❤️😎 …
One of the most beautiful parks I have ever seen. ❤️
A very nice park with two-person Swan Boats powered by pedaling, a nice experience. Nearby is the Japanese Garden which is nice but seems somewhat neglected. A seal house appears deserted. The Rise Garden is pretty and well cared for. We missed the zoo not realizing that it closes at four pm, but it is all known as a good one. The Lovers Bridge is nice but could use a paint job. One negative is that a major road cuts right through the park and care in crossing is essential.
It's a wonderful place to spend the day whether it's alone or with a family you can relax take your time and enjoy the scenery.
Always a great time at the zoo with the kids. Make sure you make a reservation online. The capacity was recently increased so be ready for large crowds again. Though it's busy, it's well organized and handles the crowds well. Staff was very helpful and the grounds are always well kept.
Such a beautiful park!!
Nice park to enjoy different activities 👍 …
Had a good time there. People are very friendly
Decent zoo, most of the glass made it seem as though people press their toddlers faces too it and purposely smear their snots on it as to make it impossible for anyone else to enjoy their time or to see animals. Other than that and the outrageous amusement park prices on drinks and food, it was a decent time.
Great seasonal light shows at an awesome.price, but just dont buy food or drinks. 3 regular s'mores, the simple kind u can easily make at home cost well over 36 dollars. Eat before u go trust me.
Never disappoints ! Always so we kept. Such a beautiful park.
Very clean and family friendly a lot to do
A friendly little zoo, needs some updates on various areas of the zoo.
Fabulous place for families and kids and nice place to enjoy a summer day.
Roger Williams Park is an impressively large, lovely spot that is a great escape from the heat downtown Providence and the chaos of 95. The Zoo is an absolute classic with elephants, giraffes, a harbor seal, and a fantastic rainforest building being the highlight of my trip. The rest of the park is great for picnicking, running around with the family, longs walks, or even just a brief drive through if you're pressed for time.
Went for the spooktacular show. Super fun, good music.
Always a great time
The light show was awesome a must see
I visited the Halloween Pumpkin show. Or was outstanding. Going early, just after sunset helps avoid the crowds, especially if parking outside the Zoo parking.
Have gone here since a little girl, shared so many memories with my family , Check out the bees! They’re adorable hard workers , Also, the museum is to die for 🖤 I give this park a 5 star because of the beautiful memories I took with it , now I’m trying to get it all back after 13 years I need help 😔 Come check it out ! …
There is so much to see and do in Roger Williams Park. We have been to the Zoo, Botanical Center and Museum. In addition, we walked the Japanese Gardens and surrounding area. Did you know there is a Seal House in the Park? This house is located near the Casino and once housed Seals outside of the Zoo. There's so much to see here.
Very nice park I took my wife my kids my whole family to enjoy a nice family day and I also go for a jogg on my days off , besides loud music it would be a five star ⭐
Awesome annual event for JUNETEENTH was held here. Nothing but love, great vibes, history and of course the food!
Awesome place great for walking around it has so much fun stuff in it like you can get food you can go to the museums great place 5 stars
Love going to the zoo and seeing all the animals. We saw all the animals except for one when we went this time. The weather was perfect and it was an amazing day! Highly recommend visiting the zoo!
Been going there since I was a child! Played in that Park, and rode my bikes through there all my life! The Temple To Music is always a good place for any type of gathering.
Lovely laid out park!
Great outdoor space in Providence.
Very fun place. Big park with lots of attractions and even a zipline ride where you can see the city skyline
Nice place for all age of people. Specially kids enjoy a lot here. Carousel, toy train, playground, nature trails, swan boats, etc..., All are available to have fun.
Awesome time with the kids even though some sections weren't open yet for the season. We plan to go back
We went to see the Asian spectacular which was awesome! We always have a good time here. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable. And the animals seem very well cared for.
Rodger Williams Park is a staple in Rhode Island and especially in providence. We bought all of our kids to the zoo we slid down the hills near the Temple of music we experienced fireworks at the Temple of music when we were kids we've had picnics at the park it's open it's beautiful it's clean yeah it's Providence
A great park with a zoo, carousel, botanical garden and trails to explore
The trip to the zoo was OK. It was the 1st time for the season and not all the animals were available to see. It was a nice day non the less.
Could use some maintenance, but a beautiful space overall.
This is a beautiful Park were you can enjoy nature with your family and friends. There is a zoo with so many types of animals, a baseball field and there is a place where there are duck rides in the lake❤❤❤
We love the zoo! Definitely worth every penny to get the membership!!
Right now they have an albino alligator named Elsa! My daughter is obsessed!
We really enjoyed the park as a whole. The carousel area was great along side the many different things there were to do and see.
ii Love the Landscapes ..
and evenTs are aLLways happening .
Well kept grounds. Some gatherings were inconsiderate playing very loud music on the lawn from their cars. Deafening.
Very nice to take a walk and enjoy the nice view
Nice, big park that's open all day. Lots of places to unwind, and often many events during the spring and summer! Check out the zoo if you get the chance :)
Love the Nature Trails
Congress in Washington, DC, needs to allocate Proper Funding to Roger Williams Park, because according to Employees, the Roger Williams Park, hasn't had a Proper Budget in over 19 years ,The Park is in Very Tired Conditions, though Very Beautiful, The National Parks HAVE TO HAVE A PROPER BUDGET TO KEEP THEM STAYING BEAUTIFUL, THE BUILDINGS HAVE BEEN LET GO, WHEN PARKS ARE OPERATING ON SKELATON BUDGETS THEY SHOW THE RESULTS, THE G.O.P IN CONGRESS ARE TO BE ASHAMED OF THEM SELFS ,THERE IS NO EXCUSE. AND ANY HONEST PERSON WILL AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT. Donald Trump is a Embarrassment from his administration who didn't allow the U.S. Parks to have the Proper Budget to Keep all the BUILDINGS, Equipment, Waterfalls, Amusement Rides, and Proper trash 🗑 barrel s, throughout the U.S. Parks. This is TOTALLY UN ACCEPTABLE.
An annual trip for us. Well maintained and rarely crowded. Misting stations today were a plus too.
Excellent place only draw back was wearing masks even after the mandate was lifted
This park is amazing there's my favorite snokones and pizza ice cream hot dogs all my favorite food and best part was snowkones
Beautiful place except trash about the landscape. Nice walking park and things to do.
Went to Asian Lantern Spectacular it was amazing!
This a beautiful and historic must see! The museum and zoo are have amazing displays and the parks are always kept so clean allowing for mesmerizing walks.
There were way too many people there on April 10th 2021 for the current stage of the pandemic. The entire parking lot was full. Timed tickets did nothing to reduce the number of people. I went last summer and was very impressed with their pandemic precautions, but not so much this spring.
Roger Williams is beautiful and peaceful. The zoo, botanical gardens and Japanese gardens are a must see. The food trucks are amazing. It is an experience that can’t be explained. Go and see.
so. For the holiday lights and it was spectacular! Well worth the entry price to walk through and see the tons of lights. Would go again.
Haven't been here in like forever
Jack O Lantern Spectacular
10/18/2021
Awesome experience love the fast service and it makes me nostalgic. Great date night love feeding the animals
Great times. Nice and peaceful.
My favorite zoo.
Had lots of fun with the kids. Good experience all around.
I've said it before...Roger Williams park is a jewel of Rhode Island. The City does a great job of keeping up such a large facility.
Food Truck Friday is a blast with live music and very interesting menus. Lots of fun !
the animals look healthy and they have large habitats while still allowing good viewing points
It's always a nice place to go when you need to get out the house great for walks an great for running an they have. Bike park that's crazy fun!!
Beautiful place to go any day of the week to enjoy with kids and the family.
Awesome zoo, fun after hours activities during holidays. The swan boat rides and zip lines are fun and chill too
Absolutely wonderful.
This is just such a beautiful place to be. We did a guided tour of the botanical center today and it was beautiful and inspiring and we sat in the grass and had dessert and tea afterwards It's such an absolutely calm and inspiring environment, highly recommended
One of this states hidden gems, weather it's just a walk through, paddle boating, visiting the zoo, or one of the many gardens. This is a must stop...... Things to do year round
It's a great place to walk. The "Chinese Lanterns" nighttime displays were awesome.
Lovely zoo but on the smaller side. Friendly staff and pretty clean facility
Great a lot of nice updates at the zoo
Lots to do new stuff added. Revisit an old place.
Loved jack-o'-lantern spectacular!
3rd Oldest Park in the good ol' U.S.of A
Along with one of the Best Zoo's in Newengland Animals look Happy & Healthy
5Star's all day!!!!!
I only went to the gift shop. They were nice enough to let me in. My granddaughter lost her "Jaggy" and that's where she got it, of course, to my surprise, there wasn't a stuffed animal Jaguar in the whole zoo.... Strange
Great experience.
Went to the Pumpkin Spectacular and it definitely was spectacular!
A must for fall foliage photos, and all occasions!!
Amazing park it's hear everything. Zoo, playground, panda, ducks, paved walking paths. So many beautiful places and swan boats!
They have quite a few different animals on site and you can come very close to a lot of them. The food was pricey but it was worth it. All in all, we had a great time.
Kids love it and it's very clean. The zoo is great.
Was very crowded for a day in February, maybe because it was Presidents Day and a beautiful day at that! Clean and so many animals to see!
Always a really good time! We love the playground at the carousel village, but it can get very crowded.
A great idea for the whole family... some exhibits closed but 95% open.. need mask in the indoor jungle area.
Fabulous zoo ! Reasonable entry fee. Clean and fun
Amazing park with something for the whole family! They had snacks that I haven't eaten in a long time like churros and snocones! I felt like a kid again!
Absolutely fantastic. We'll laid out and easy walking.
The best place great people great staff clean place and safe 😃 …
Jack-o-lantern spectacular was worth the time
Jack-o-lantern festival was really cool. Have also been there for the Japanese lanterns and that was equally awesome.
We went to see the Fairy Garden. A lot of work went into making it, and it was well done. It was our 1st time to the park and hope to go back to see more.
Come for the zoo, stay for the scenery and exemplary park design.
Pumpkins in the Park... Awesome. Still had a few situations when people were way to close for comfort... But other than that, what fabulous Art work these people create.
The Botanical Gardens are AMAZING! So beautiful and fragrant! The whole Roger Williams expirience is well worth a visit and so close to home. Love it!
Great park to boat, eat, relax, drive around for the day!
The Light Exhibit is AMAZING. Very well put together, employees very friendly. Family must for a good time.
Very cool little zoo. We went for the lantern exhibit. Will go back to see more of the zoo during the day time.
Wonderful place for families.
Good size zoo, well laid-out some of the animals were missing, camel, moon bear, snow leppard
Was a great day for it but as usual not many animals were out again and they are charging full price admission
Did not like the walk in pumpkin event
Nothing to say except one of the best!
Great zoo for all ages.
Beautiful park in addition to the zoo.
Our go too zoo. Perfect place full of activities and events!
Had lunch with my girl, sitting by the waterfall.
the gorillas are cool and I like all those statues around the park it's fun to be there.
Beautiful walk...
Love this place going again but this time in the night with my grandkids to see the the lanterns on my grandson's were so happy to see all the animals .
Great Pumpkin Show but a very long walk to get to it. Staff was very obliging and helpful to some very senior members of our group
Beautiful, well maintained park. They have a carousel, and playground for very small kids.
Beautiful, full of surprises
The lanterns were still up at this point and they were so great.
Great atmosphere and tons of stuff to do with your family all day
Beautiful place to visit with your family any time of the year.

Halloween Jack o lantern spectacular was pretty cool!! Tons of pumpkins beautifully decorated!
It's great to see kids becoming in love with seeing animals. I loved going here as a kid too.
Great family spot.
Beautiful scenery. The Asia Lantern Spectacular is interactive. It is more of a display of animal lantern.
A great park for families!
I like the Zoo. I wish it's path was marked a bit clearer as I did miss a part. The Asian Lantern Spectacular was/is great!

Nice zoo with decent enclosures. Lots of shade too.
A Rhode Island treasure. Well marked trails. Good birding opportunities. Family fun at the Carousel.
