Reviews of Hunts Mills Museum
Nice museum with lots of local history information available. Open every 2nd Sunday of the month. I have visited several times in the past and always enjoyed it.
When the museum is closed you can still enjoy reading a book by the falls or going for a walk on the well maintained and marked trail.
Really nice walking trails shaded from the full sun on a hot day. The 10 mile river is a pleasure to walk along
The museum is closed but the trails are open and great trails. Very easy and well marked/maintained. Dogs allowed but must be leashed at all times. I recommend bug spray. Great picnic area a cool old amusement park area to explore (but be careful). Will be going back for sure.
We visited the area mid-morning when the sun danced among the petals of the tulips, pansies, and other blooms. Breathtaking views! Photos taken in May 2019.
Today I took the girls there again and we walked a bit of the trails. Last few times, a few ticks. Today 16 so far. Mostly all deer ticks.
Not sure if it's the park or the trails or both...
The dog park is great.
Quiet clean and lots of space.
We added a bowl, water and some toys.
But loaded with ticks on the trails. The dogs each had one tick on them and my hubby had two. And all three had the proper protection. I didn't have spray on. No ticks on me. Got lucky?
Also near the waterfalls, there are a few large rocks with names and dates carved into the rocks. They are over 100 years old. This place is historic and a great place to explore.
A little walk in nature is possible when you want to get away from busy downtown of providence. It has little reservoir type falls and few stops in the trail has benches to sit and the little trail or walkway is well marked.
Awesome wide river, slow moving, ducks everywhere. Very cool historical plaques and info along the trail. The herring run is interesting and you can sign up to count them!
Lovely quiet scenic place near a running river and a fish ladder! Great waterfalls (small) w/ some nice paths to investigate. We enjoyed having a picnic at one of the picnic tables overlooking the water falls. We visit whenever we can, definitely recommend checking out. :)
A most excellent walking area with a skip across the street for a longer hike around Turner Resevoir.
A place of stone lined with red, an accompanying tower, nice little trail, and one stubborn tree in the middle of a water fall. Some cool burnt stuff right nearby too.
The museum is no longer open. However, the park is wonderful and very peaceful. There are picnic benches a waterfall and a very nice gazebo. I highly recommend it.
The trails need some work, but our daughter loves to see the waterfalls!
Easy trail about a mile. Follows river, good for dogs! Cool herring run!
Enjoyed the area. Unfortunately some dog owners do not abide by leash regulations .
Nice experience! I decided to try out the trails and will definitely return back.
Interesting history but kind of creepy. You can feel eyes upon you while you explore the property. A good place to bring an Ouija board i suppose. The large quarried stones set in a circle reminds me of an ancient portal.
Chill place, check out the waterfall and nearby reservoir trails. Good place to learn about plant names, look around the main house for all the plants and tags. Don't forget to check for ticks when you done! I have seen deer, foxes and coyotes around here!
Please be careful bringing your dog here! My leashed dog was attacked (not badly, but it was scary) by 2 UNLEASHED dogs. I told the woman to please leash and she just said sorry, then walked off. My dog is 14 and was really spooked after this. On a side note...PLEASE HAVE YOUR DOGS ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES!
Beautiful and peaceful place 💯💯 …
Nice peaceful place to walk your dog an learn a little History.
Building only open on some Sundays but space open at all times. Waterfall due to damage with fish ladder. Nice loop trail through woods along river. Interpretive signs.
Nice place to walk around. It just takes 30 minutes to complete the trail, you can walk with your sandals too. Not so crowded.
Two men's softball fields in good shape and taken care of, 2 basketball courts, large parking area..
I've been playing softball there for years and enjoy it, it has one of the most competitive mens leagues in the state, can almost always get in a pickup basketball game any night of the week in summertime
So peaceful and the sound of the water
Absolutely beautiful grounds to just walk and relax. Haven't yet, but want to tour the Hunt house. Only open on the 2nd Sunday of the month from 1pm to 3pm in the summer months.
Lovely park with walking trail, waterfall over the damn, fish ladder and the headquarters of the East Providence Historical Society.
There are picnic tables and bar b q grates.
A nice, relaxing place to hang out by a stream and have lunch. Make sure you visit when the Hunt house is open to see some East Providence history.
Lovely Place. Very Much Underrated. Not Much "Fanfare". Doesn't Get the Love It Should. Off the Beaten Path. Set-Back, Boarding the Rumford Seekonk Line.Very Quiet and Serene, Complete with a Waterfall and "Bubbling Brooke" Open Spaces and Trails
A Lot of History There. Site of a Former Ammusment Park Attraction with a Carousel, Dance Hall. Burnt to the Ground December 12, 1923.
A Large Stone Pump House Is On the Grounds, But Is Not Accessable. Built of Stone, Which Is in Good Shape.
Would Be a Fantastic Resturation Project.
Don't Know What's Inside.
But I Would Sure Like to See It.
If the State Can Afford a 22 Million Dollar Footbridge. Think They Should Be Able to Find Money to Fund a Historical Pump House Resturation.
I only utilized the hiking trail behind the house. It is easy to walk and not too long. I enjoyed it. There is also a second trail right across the street from the entrance to the house.
Historic museum open 3 seasons- home of East Prov Historical Society Beautiful grounds and trails on the Ten Mile River. Fish ladder
At Hunts Mills dam for viewing the spring herring run. Bird life on the river spring and summer. Trails to Turner Reservoir across Pawtucket Ave
Very nice ! The waterfall is fantastic..a nice place to have lunch or to just get away. Worth checking out !
Local history at it's finest. Fascinating place to discover for Rhode Islanders. Great hiking trails too!
Great quick hike away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Trail is well marked and took about 20 minutes to walk.
Nice little historical park with picnic tables and a large field. Beautiful curved waterfall.
I love the history and the scenery. The house, waterfall, flowers, and trees are all very beautiful.
Great place. Beautiful waterfall and river view. Hiking trail across the street.
Beautiful water falls. The scene and the sound are good focal points for meditation!
