Leaving Charlestown RI back to CT decided to stop at East beach. Never been here before but so glad I came!!!! Absolutely beautiful!❤️Soft white sand, (not rocky like in ct)beautiful skyline,water was so clear just perfect.

Beautiful state beach with access to a pond behind it. Specialty camping at East Beach is offered in two areas which contain ten sites each. Campsites can only be accessed by 4-wheel drive vehicles. Utilities ARE NOT available at this campground. Recommend arriving early due to limited parking. My favorite state beach.

An amazingly pristine beach surrounded by developed areas, this is AUTHENTIC OLD RHODE ISLAND! Get there early to find a spot to park your vehicle. If you have 4 wheel drive you can go past the parking area and enter the Ninigret wildlife area.

Great classic beach site. Great waves, short walk from parking lot through sand dunes. If you enjoy 3-5 for waves constantly breaking close to shore, this is terrific location. Not too crowded. Lifeguard present for section off parking lot but beach goers can go past guarded area. No umbrellas allowed in life guarded area so not to interfere with sight lines for guard. Parking lot holds about 100 vehicles only. Friday at 3pm had no problem getting spot. Loved this for waves more than West Dennis Beach visited next day.

Was really nice. Not a real lot of parking so the was not a big crowd. They do have nice built bathroom. No running water though. They have area for jeeps to go on but you will need a tire inflator to put air back in your tires afterwards. Unless you have balloon tires this is not a wheel chair place.

I must say it doesn't get any better than a visit to East Beach, RI when the wind is blowing. Absolutely beautiful for pictures. I've been here in the summer and parking is the big issue. The beach is one of the best in New England. If you get hungry , the Cooked Goose is a short ride from here, it's a nice spot to enjoy a great menu and great service.

We love coming here and try to make it at least once a year. Usually some good waves. The beach is never too crowded compared to other nearby beaches. I don't mind not having food right off the beach we just plan ahead and bring our own food, drink, garbage bag, and shade. I just wish they opened the gate before 8:30. We like to start our beach day early.

Beautiful sand, not crowded at all. Get there early the lot fills up fast. We were there around 945 and there were a few spots left. The water was cold but not too much seaweed. Lifeguards are useless, but we didn't mind... Perfect relaxing day.

Amazing, view and really lovely beach. Being a Jamaican however it not like Jamaican beached and the weaves were super rough. The sand also get a bit course when you go into the water.

Im only giving this beach 3 stars because I went with children, and this is NOT children friendly water. This beach has multiple hills made of sand. If your tent/beach set up is in the back by the entrance, you cannot see the water because sand hills cover the view. To get to the water, you go up a sand hill and then as you walk down the hill to get to the water, the waves come up and basically grab you into the water... by the time youre down the hill, you'll be waist deep in the water while TALL waves are crashing into you and knocking you off of your feet. It was knocking me off my feet and even tall men. You cannot even hold your children and walk into the water, it will knock you off of your feet and the waves will pull the small children into the ocean. If I had known this, I wouldve chose a different beach for this occasion. The children just stayed on the sand and couldnt get in the water at all on a very hot day. Besides this, the beach is clean and pretty. Also, we went on a Saturday and they charged us $40 to park at the parking lot... this may also be helpful for people to know.

Pretty beach but 3 feet into the surf the beach drops off unexpectantly to 8 feet deep. Didn't see any life guards.

This has got to be the best speech we have gone to in Rhode Island. It was recommended to us by friends in Providence where we just moved a month ago. It is really clean and doesn't get too busy. They have glorified porta potties that are better than some other places but are not actually bathrooms. You have to pick up your own trash so bring plastic bags to put your trash and cuz you can't leave it there. The water is clear and beautiful but there is some seaweed around. Luckily the sand is nice and soft not too many pebbles or rocks.

Great beach to hang out at! The water gets deep fast and the waves could get a little high. Not sure if this is normal since it was my first time here. The day I went would have been great for body boarding with the waves. Parking lot is on the smaller side so get there early on a really nice day. We got there at 9:30am on a Sunday and there was plenty of parking left.

Must get Seasonal Parking or it defeats the purpose of coming. Parking is over $25.00. The best time to come is after 4:pm when there are more Meters available. After 6:pm it's free parking everywhere.

Beautiful New England beach with great bathrooms! The composting bathrooms (white buildings) are so clean and tidy. They also have standard port-a-potties that were very clean as well. The beach was lovely. Parking was INSANE! We arrived on a warm Saturday morning at 9am (parking opens at 8:30am) and it was already full! We had to park about a mile away and walk. When you can park there, the parking costs are under $15. They also have a life guard on duty for a portion of the beach.

Nice beach - has toliets and on-duty life guards. The water gets deep pretty quickly as you go off-shore. Good surf, decent sand. Its biggest perk can also be an issue if you're visiting - it has a small lot, so it isn't very crowded, but it can be hard to get in. If you're not there at least a half-hour before opening, you're rolling the dice on being able to get in unless you're a 4wd vehicle accessing the 4wd tracks beyond the parking lot.

Another Five Star day on East Beach. Great fishing day. Lots of activity for site-"sea"ers Plenty of parking still in spite of the crowd of vehicles...they're mostly on the beach. Caught site of a lone Seal near us close to shore. This is going to be a monthly trek for us this winter. Too wonderful to miss. Fresh air.

Almost don't want to leave a good review because it's such an amazing spot. I got there at 8 AM on a weekday and the lot wasn't too full yet. The lot can fit maybe 80 cars so the beach never gets too crowded. Great swimming and a beautiful clean beach. There are composting toilets and free sun screen dispensers.

Nice, clean beach. There was plenty of parking and it's mid-late July. Parking cost $6 in state $12 out of state. There is a sand trail available to drive on but you need a permit for it and it's only open seasonally. The swimming are is restricted sometimes even though the beach is pretty large.

Probably the best beach in New England. Very small parking lot, so if you get in it's like winning the lottery. It feels like a tropical island. Not crowded (trade off for a small parking lot). Huge waves. Gradual water entry. Limited bathrooms. No showers. Overall amazing beach, a must visit!!!

Amazing beach!! Our family got there around 4pm, which means we were able to park for free. Even with it being the weekend before the 4th, the beach so not packed. The soft sand, beautiful blue waves, and tranquil vibe makes this a must on any family trip.

Wow!!! Amazing beach! Clean and very long! Parking does fill early (12 dollars). I got here at 10:30 on a hot Thursday in July and the sign on the way in said the lot was full. Decided to go the last .5 miles anyway and we ended up getting the last spot after a couple of people left. We left at 2:30 and there were maybe 10 spots open, so I guess it is pretty hit or miss for parking. Probably only parking for 80-100 cars so it is probably tuff to get in on a summer weekend. No amenities here so make sure you bring all your food and beverages. 3-4 composting bathrooms, but they were the best smelling and cleanest composting bathrooms I have ever been in. Nice little waves. Very nice walking beach. 2-3 miles of beautiful clean sand.

Lovely, smaller state beach in Charlestown, RI, with compost toilet and 6 changing rooms. Lifeguards. No food. Carry in carry out. Empty on a July Wednesday. Careful bumpy road driving up to the gate.

As a visitor my day absolutely wonderful. I would love to go again before I go home but I don't think it's gonna happen. The water was wonderful and everything about it was totally relaxing . .I couldn't say enough about the staff because we came in just to look at the beach and it just happened that someone was pulling out. ONE of the staff said can you take this spot. it was amazing I loved it thank you so much thank you Rhode Island..

The perfect northeast sandy beach - classic long grasses blending into fine sand, uninterrupted for miles and rustic. If you want an old fashioned family beach excursion you can’t do better than east / west beach in Charlestown. We’ve been to sooooo many beaches and this one and Middle beach outside Newport are the tied for the best! This one is easier and quieter, though. Limited (but well maintained) seasonal facilities include life guards, designated parking and wood slatted (not port a potty) rest rooms. There is no food service and I’ve not seen any place to rent little boats. It’s just a gorgeous, huge sandy beach.

Just experienced driving along East Beach. Unfortunately at this time of the year you are not allowed to drive on the beach. There are areas you can park close to the beach within walking distance however you need to get there early to get one. Also buy a good portable tire inflator. It is still worth buying the permit.

Hello Rhode Island! Jersey girl here who is used to the Sound beaches of CT and Cape Cod. A lovely beach with beautiful bright beige, almost yellow, sand, zero shell.or rocks and beautiful pastel green, clear water. And waves that actually crash Not huge, but something I havent seen in a long time. Not sure if it was the weather or time of year, but the undertow was very strong. I'll swim almost anywhere but I knew it was too strong. Parking looks like it's about for 100 cars and there is no where else to go so dont think you can park on the street. It's barely on a street. It's a narrow, pothole filled sand path. There is also a section for on-beach driving but you need to get a permit for that. I arrived 15 min before opening and the gate was open but the parking area was chained off. There were 8 spots before the chain so I parked there. Other people unloaded and then waited by their car (on the road) until the chain was lowered. I left 45 min after they officially opened and the chain still wasnt down and there was still no one in the ticket booth. The lifeguard was there but was setting up, not guarding yet. There are 3 port-a-potties, and a few changing huts. No other beachy amenities so bring foods, drinks, etc. There were also no store nearby. But this is exactly how I like to enjoy the beach. If you want commercialism, go to Misquamicut.

East beach is the best beach for many reasons. Parking is moderately priced, restrooms are eco and wheelchair friendly and relatively clean. The beach itself if clean, spacious and great for all beach activities. The waves here are typically huge, which im a big fan of. You can walk for miles in either direction and its still beautiful. They have a designated lifegaurd zone so its very family friendly. Ive been to many other places that were unclean, smelly and disappointing. This beach is like one out of a movie.

Don't be fooled by the map. Right where the green shaded part of the map begins on the west side of the park is the parking lot which holds about 100 or so cars. Those other roads within the park are sand "roads" and you need to pay for a special permit to use them- if your vehicle is even up for the task. That means 95% of people park in that one lot and pour into the beach at the same location. I, however, kept walking for a good 5 to 10 minutes east along the beach with 3 bags to find a secluded spot in the sand. It was well worth it as we had near quiet for about four hours until a band of a dozen d-bags decided to setup next to us and cause quite the disturbance. We left shortly after. It was nice while it lasted, though. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is your best bet- but be prepared to hike for it!

East beach is a nice beach to bring your family to. It is very relaxing. You have a good amount of space around you for peace. The only thing is the seagulls will raid your plot if you leave food out. Lol. Also how can I forget it costs 25 dollars to park your car!!! If you are out of state 20 in state still expensive!!

CRMC trails allow for a nearly private beach. Best in area, considering a few miles south of here is probably one of the busiest, most overcrowded beach in the north east
