Two nights in the town, love the ocean side walk. The parking is free on one side of the road, facing the ocean, you can have a comfortable view by seating inside the car. Sunset attracted people to raise their cameras, and you could catch more amazing views even after the the sunset. Unforgettable driving, slow down, enjoy your moment with the people you love.

Coming from the Mid-Atlantic, I am not used to seeing rocky beaches. It is absolutely beautiful and one of the best coastlines I've seen. The state park has plenty of parking and space that is clean and public restroom (port-a-potty but it does the job right?). The park rangers were there picking up trash. The ocean drive is one of the coolest things ever and if I'd come back to Rhode island I'd definitely go visit Newport again.

Beautiful spot weather you're looking for a beach view or an area to explore old horse stables this is a win for everyone ! This time I only sat by the beach side as it was sunset. Otherwise I would have ventured back to the stables and tower because yes it is safe enough for a female to go by themselves. I have never run into anything but the most pleasant people while visiting this sanctuary.

Very cool park if you like ocean view. Easy drive from downtown. Large free parking lot. Restroom is well maintained. Among the activities, flying kites is the most popular when weather is good. Walking along ocean on sidewalks or on the rocks during low tide is enjoyable. Here is also the best spot to see Sunset in Newport.

Nice walking trails. Check out the history of the old mansion that used to be on the property. The hidden building shown is the remaining carriage house and stables. Great views overlooking the water. Beautiful homes.

Great location for a family/friend picnic, adventure, or walk along the water!! Parking was a bit scarce and it was quite busy. There was a lemonade truck and kite store, among several other activities going on. Great fun adventure spot!!

Awesome place with an incredible view of the inlet and great sunset views. Plenty of parking, may be a bit crowded on weekends. A scenic drive precedes arriving there. If you're coming to Newport to sight see, 10/10 recommend

Beautiful spot to watch changing tides, sailboats, and other boating traffic. In the park area there are usually lots of kites flying. Because of the rocky shore this is a great place to watch stormy seas.

The park is nice. Has nice view of the sound. There are benches to sit. There are a few picnic sites. The breakwater and rock jetty were built as public works project during the depression in the 30s.

I told my wife that this state park has to have the best views in the country. We really enjoyed spending some time here on our visit. The restrooms were very clean, the grass was well kept and there was hardly any trash on the grounds. This would be a tremendous place to go and read, have a picnic or just play catch. Well done Park Rangers.

We walked the rocks for a little. Didn't find much other than tiny hermit crabs and lots a seaweed. The rocks are very slippery, so be careful.

I am a tourist and first time being here. I went there. It’s beautiful place and i swam and had a picnic there. Perfect place to be. Smells funky because of the algaes onthe rock and there is always low tide so it stinks but please go there it’s beautiful

This was the best park to fly kites! We had a terrific day, brought our picnic lunch and enjoyed the view of the ocean while flying kites! Great day out with the family. They have public restrooms that were clean, and within easy walking distance. You won't be disappointed with this park!

Lot's a kite flying fun! Great fun for the family! Scenic views and windy gusts off the ocean! But go early on the weekend - while there is plenty of parking - it does fill up and starts to get very busy, on those beautiful weekend days :)

Very nice spot in the southern tip of Newport. Great views of the ocean and Narragansett to the west. Very peaceful and relaxing. Parking is ample and free. It is easy to get to from downtown Newport. No real beach here fyi. Definitely something to check out when in the area.

Beautiful park where there’s always a breeze and the ocean is a bit more wild. On a nice day you can watch people fly kites, and there’s always a lot of boating/sailing activity out on the water. There are bathrooms on site as well, although they are basic at best. A great place for picnics, boulder climbing, and general sightseeing!

So pretty! Parking is $1.50 an hour but that's not bad at all! The walk is beautiful! People like to go on runs and ride bikes through the path! You get to see a mansion from a distance too! Amazing place to take a walk and just relax! Would 100% recommend!

The scenery at this state park feels like it was summoned from poetry. It's beautiful. Come here just to enjoy the view. There isn't much else here. It's a relatively small park. There are a few memorials and a monument dedicated to Portuguese explorers; hidden just behind the tree line is an old manor and tower that are in ruin and covered in graffiti. The wind in winter is biting and unyielding. Do not come here without gloves and a hat. This state park is only two miles from Fort Adams State Park.

Amazing place to go for a date, family picnic, or just because. This is a FREE beach! No parking fees, no monitoring, no homeless people or campers. Very clean and very relaxing 😌 On a week day it wasn’t busy at all and it was amazingly gorgeous! Would recommend 10/10

The ocean makes u feel like a new person the icean spray comes up on u and u can feel the salt on ur skin. Its a beautiful place to see nature and meet friends. There are grassy areas and trees to sit under. Benches and picnic tables. Its defintly a place for a romantic picnic or just a good place to meditate

Another amazing state park in Rhode Island. This one is a particular favorite of my wife and I. Even in this cold weather it's such an enjoyable place to walk. Not only do you get a great view of the coastline, but also a great trail to walk on, and the tower to observe from. There's a ton of interesting history behind that building, and the remnants of another on the coastline, but my wife is more well versed in that than I am! Highly recommend going here and spending a morning or afternoon.

Great place to watch the sunset or enjoy the ocean breeze. Kite store, lemonade and food trucks frequent the area and there are bathrooms in the main building. Often a nice breeze that can hold up a kite and frequently many kites speckle the sky. Sometimes a considerable amount of algea washes up and cooks in the sun, low tide can have a foul scent.

This is easily one of the best places to visit in Newport. This state park is right in front of the ocean and has stunning views. This is on the 10 mile ocean drive. The place has a huge parking lot and lot of open space to come and have a nice picnic with friends and family. There are picnic tables in the park as well as benches along the shore. There is a kite shop here that sells fancy kites both big and small. An absolute must visit place if in Newport Rhode Island.

Sunset are not just for the rich! This is a very busy road side park in a neighborhood of affluent folks. This is a fantastic place to fly a kite, and become part of the road side attraction! I relaxed here for the Fourth of July, and saw a great sunset with fireworks seen from several cities and towns!

A great place to visit in Newport. This park has all the feel of being in the ocean with some more quiet and seclusion compared to downtown. It's usually pretty busy but I've always felt the wide open space helps to give it a great atmosphere on a sunny summer afternoon.

This place had been really amazing until 2 yrs bk. But past last 2 yrs the amount of algae in the ocean water bear the banks have increased to such an extent that it was literally impossible for us breathe that pungent snelling air and to sit down there and admire the sunset..! I really wish if the authorities could get this into notice and can do something about the problem.

We stopped in later evening and watched the beautiful sunset over the water. We didn't go up to the tower or anything, but just spent time by the water. It was rather unfortunate that there was a lot of washed up seaweed as it gave a rather peculiar smell. The park was fairly empty except for a few fishermen and a few groups hanging out in the parking lot. If you are close and want a beautiful resting spot, I'd recommend swinging by.

Plenty of areas to be able to plop down, open up our beach chairs, and have a nice picnic, while still social distancing. Plus, it felt 10 degrees cooler here than downtown Newport. Only issue is that there are NO trash cans to be found anywhere!

Very nice view, complements of your creator! A great place to go to watch the storms visit the New England coast. It’s also a pleasant place to visit when it’s not stormy. Bring a kite you enjoy the breeze! It’s also pleasant to walk along the ocean! There is a paved sidewalk the traverses the entire park on the ocean. There is plenty of parking. There are some picnic tables available.

If your a 😤 be sure to #ODBC its an experience. If you see kites flying head on over to the van to purchase one to fly of your own. Awesome fun.Bring your dog for Frisbee or to just lounge around. By far...the best, semi-out-of-the-way, destination in Rhode Island if you want to experience the beauty of nature...without the tourist crowds. Just an absolutely beautiful, serene, landscape!

This is just a great place. everyone should go at least once. Behind the building near the flag there is a trail that will take you to a tower. Every year professionals come and fly stunt kites competitively. Down the road there is a bougie restaurant. The place has everything for a good time.

Beautiful drive by all the Newport mansions & along the waterfront, alot of free parking along with nice relaxing scenery of rocks splashing water & view of boats on the water, you can climb down walk on the rocks to take pics or just take it all in, always luv going there with the family & taking it all in, check it out if you can.

The beach area is incredibly scenic! It was nice to just relax and listen to the ocean, and breathe in the fresh salty air. Parking can be found for free, but there is also paid parking as well. I wouldn't recommend this area for swimming, due to all the rocks, but there were a few people fishing that seemed to have some luck. I enjoyed my time overall!

It's nice accept for the parking on busy weekends. I see rude people get a spot and they will take up an entire car space next to them so they can put chairs out. There is a huge field for that or even grassy space right next to ocean. The park rangers need to do a better job about telling folks that car spaces are not for camping out in chairs....it's rude

This state park is right in front of sea. We spent only half an hour as sunset was about to be over when we reached. We loved it and regretted to not to come here earlier. We definitely are going to come back to spend more time here. Spacious parking space across road which is one of the most beautiful drive in Rhode island. In front you can see vast ocean and can sit on benches on side or go down and take a dip in water. Other side is plain ground followed by big trees which make it even more beautiful. Dont miss this beautiful place.

There's a cute little kite shop setup and food trucks here and there and if course a couple of Dell's lemonade stands. They have a store to buy kites now. Trailer style store, fairly expensive but what a great place to fly a kite.

Must-visit park in Newport if you've never been before. Even as a local I love this park- the views are great and the trails you can walk are neat too. There's even a tower hidden in the trails you can climb up. There's also plenty of room to sit/walk by the water if you'd like. During the summer (normally, anyway) this is a hot spot for flying kites, since the wind by the water is usually perfect for that.

What a really nice area. All the parking spaces were filled but people come and go. If you go in the afternoon, you are likely to find where one of the morning folks already left. Visitor Center and bathrooms were closed while we were there. The rocks and waves are why we were there and they did not disappoint. It is beautiful. Lots of kite flyers present. Lots of those little rent-car/scooter/golf cart thingies on the road too. That looked like fun. I wish we did that.

Love this park! The views are stunning. We held a large picnic here in August, and it was nice and cool being surrounded by the water. There are grills and picnic tables that are first come first serve. I recommend getting there early afternoon if you want to use them. Parking is limited, and it gets very crowded around 1pm in the summer.

This is a must see location in Newport. The drive out to the point is filled with mansions and fancy seaside estates. The point is an excellent place to watch the sunset. It is the kite flying destination for the area. Everyone flies kites there. It's so easy as it is always breezy. There is a big meadow for flying or running or seeing bunnies. I felt this one is a better place to enjoy the sea except that the beach is fully rocky and very nice place for viewing sunset over the ocean, plus it can be viewed sitting in the car itself. There are plenty of parking spots and a restroom nearby. There is small field where ppl fly kites, it's very breezy and can turn chilly (even until late May). The grass is littered with dog poop though so that was the only one down side.

Always love to come here every time we visit. Great views of the sunset, and plenty of parking. There is only two entrances for parking, and they are quite far apart. This is also a place where they have kite festivals and other events. You can also walk along the rocky shoreline to enjoy the waves crashing against the large boulders.

This is a state park located in Rhode Island. It was just one of the stops we made on our trip to the Northeastern United States last year. It offers beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, has rocks that just out into the water, waves that splash up, birds, etc. Its a beautiful, peaceful location to visit. It would be a great spot for a picnic or fishing if you're interested in either of those. We were just there for the views and visiting states we'd never been to before.

Brenton point is a wonderful place to go and relax with the family. It also happens to get really great wind for kite flying. Home of the annual Newport Kite Festival in July. The grassy field works nice for tents and cook outs. Parking surrounds the park though can get busy at times. The panoramic view of the ocean is picturesque especially when boats are sailing by. The waves crash up on the rocks which are fun to explore. Many people go fishing too. Lots to do. (and it's free)

We drove on the Ocean Drive and eventually ended up here. It is a nice point and well organized. There is parking here, which you can enter from both ends, so if you miss one entry point, there will be another. You can park here and carefully cross the street to the rocks/cliffs and the ocean.

Kite fliers aren't elitist like some other obscure hobbies so during setup a few kite flying dudes came over to help me get set up. 20 minutes later I was flying like a semi-pro. Brenton Point is a great park nestled among the craggy shoreline near Newport. It's a great place to escape the town and get some super fresh, if a bit windy Atlantic air. The wind is also great for kite flying and there is even a truck selling kites here. The rocky shoreline is also pretty spectacular and worth exploring as the surf crashes up behind you. It's hard to overstate the breathtaking primordial nature of this place.

Nice place but not alot happening here. Great breeze. Bathrooms smelled bad, worse than some of the composting toilets that I've been in. No garbage bins, carry in carry out which is obviously kinda inconvenient. Worth a stop after ocean drive but don't go out of your way to get here.

Hot, sandy beaches, cool breezes, and a plethora of public restrooms can all be found at Brenton Point. Surprisingly there are no warning signs about jumping down to the rocks, so make sure you keep the kiddos held right. Some hero whipped out his glizzy next to the shore and rocked the lettuce, so just think about that. The bicep bois house close to the Breakers is an excellent destination(it’s the house with the Kia parked in the driveway). Leave you tennis racquets at home because the population seems to have a hard time keeping up their courts.
