Reviews of Winslow Memorial Park
Shaun Senior
Beautiful park right on the ocean. It was a little busy during the day, but plenty of room to stretch out. The park was very clean and well maintained with nice walking trails and lots of spots for a good picnic. The campsites are a little open but it still felt private in some sections and it was very quiet at night time. Definitely recommend for either a day trip or camping for the weekend.
Buster Wologo
Clean, private, and low stress. I really enjoyed my time staying here for two nights. It’s close enough to Portland for a day trip. 4 stars because they charge you extra for truck camping vs tent camping. It makes absolutely no sense. Also, the generators should be turned off at 6. It got really loud with all of them running.
Amy Long
We really enjoyed this campground! It’s great for families and affordable. It has a large playground, beach and at low tide there are tide pools. Fresh lobster can be found on Rt 1 near the park.
They have a small clubhouse by the playground/restrooms with games, books, WiFi, electric outlets and tables. During a rainstorm my kids and I hunkered down in there with our dinner. I was able to get some work done on my computer at night thanks to that clubhouse too!
Only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because the bathrooms area six and not the cleanest.
Stef Pel
We had alot of fun here! A great park, and really pretty place to visit. They keep it very clean, and everyone was in good spirits and really friendly.
Wayne Clark
Exceptional campground . About 1/3 of sites are occupied by seasonal campers, most of whom are gracious friendly seniors who also serve as campground staff. The campground has amenities galore including a wonderful playground, walking trails, roads to bike and a shoreline to explore. Note: office staff blindly and unreasonably adheres to posted check-in time even when your site is vacant and ready for occupancy. So, don’t bother showing up early.
Carla Sinclair
Beautiful park and campground. There is a beach area, a stone pier, stairs to get down to the shoreline, playground, and nice spaced out camp spots. I would visit again and camp.
Marilyn Potter
Fun place for everyone in the family. As seniors, we come here to picnic and read. Love it.
Sarah Montalbano
Lovely little campground with a nice rocky beach and good playground. Clean individual bathrooms with private showers. Not a lot of other tent campers, but that's okay. Our spot was beautiful and near the lake side of the peninsula. Would definitely come back.
Robin Payne
A fun little park. Some trails were extremely soggy in parts. Has a small beach where we saw some little crabs. The campground area seemed really nice and well maintained. The gate person was friendly. Worth the $3 per person we paid to get in! The road inside the park is very bumpy, like a washboard.
lena rowe
Wonderful place to visit.be camping their this summer can't wait ocean right there.can bring your dog.come enjoy.
Zman Jace
Very nice small campgrounds with a play ground, basketball court and open field to do as you feel. Nice for a short walk if your already in the area. You do need to pay to get in even if you're just going to the playground or the short hike but it is very cheap with some pretty good views.
Anastasia Bilous
Very nice camping place. It has clean washrooms and showers. People who work there are very friendly. The area is beautiful!
Bev Stevens
Loved this place. Very affordable. Plenty of space to move around. Large play area for kids where they can be seen all around. The bathrooms are well maintained and the camping area is separate from the day visitors. There is a boat launch as well as foot access to the water. Highly recommend!
Britt M
I love this campground. My husband and I always try to book a campsite overlooking the bay so we can watch the sunrise from our tent site. The sunrise reflects on the water and its breathtaking every time. Very friendly people and relaxed atmosphere, clean bathrooms and roomy tent sites. It's only a 20 minute drive south to Portland, ME and 30 minutes to Higgins Beach. It's also close to some nice cafes and local breweries.
Olivia Bowley
Great park for kids, not so much for swimming, but really great for walking along the shoreline for little critters and cool seashells! Woman who let me in was really rude and made me not want to come back.
Kimberlie Carrell
If you are going for the day, plan around low tides for a great beach walking experience. (Not sure about the swimming yet but reviews suggest higher tides for that?) We stopped here to scope it out for an afternoon. And...got to dig up our first clams.
Beach access is fairly easy, steps or downhill path (not handicap accessible as it drops down a bluff to thw beach). Great shady, grassy areas with picnic tables and grills that looks over the water and the beach up by the parking lot. This was accessible for our whole family - young and old and provided a great spot to sit and visit for people who were not up for a walk down to the beach. (Noone felt left out of the fun.)
The playground and great bathrooms right across the little internal road from the picnic area and beach too. The playground is older and had lots of equipment you don't see as often - like a real merry-go-round. The little little with us needed a bit of extra minding on this particular playground, but it was definitely a great playground.
Martha Farnham
Great campground! Plenty for the kids to do, even though it rained a lot while we were there. We'll definitely be back!
John Petralito
WONDERFUL and peaceful place. A diamond in the rough. Boat access ramp, swimming beach, children's play area, campground, picnic tables and grills. Very inexpensive. Well shaded and open areas.
Bert Robbins
What a great location for a campground !
Quiet secluded camping spots.
Great for families.
Beautiful ocean views and trails !
Ken Haggett
We enjoyed our stay at Winslow Park Campground. The grounds were very clean and they do a good job of enforcing their 10:00 pm. quiet time. There is boat ramp and dock on the property so it's a great place to camp if you want to boat. The walking trails that follow the shoreline out to the point are very enjoyable any time of day.
Chris Lopez
$3 a person to just visit the park and not camp.
The cost was worth it, but it is helpful information to have.
The parking is very close to the shore. There are many places to sit and tables at the parking level. There are stairs down to the shore. It is a great place to explore the change in the tide.
Julia G
My favorite place in Freeport! Walking trails, beach, dock, picnic tables with places to grill and gather, playground for kids, low tide spots for exploration. There is really something for everyone. I bring all visitors to the area to Winslow!
Dan Tapper
Great location, pretty water views, wonderful beach, friendly staff, walking trails and less than 15 minutes from Freeport (LL Bean). $35 bucks for the night. (no hookups). Maine Beer Company nearby with great pizza, salads and of course beer.
Joanna M
I love the playground. It was open you could see everything. The beach is small but the view is amazing.
Monique Nadeau
Love Winslow Park.
Pet friendly. Beautiful Oceanfront camping 🏕
Full moon rising over Casco Bay. 🌕🌊⛵⚓🦭🐳 …
Tania Briceno
Nice playground, views, and picnic areas. The beach was very muddy at low tide but will come back to check it out at high tide. Maybe the swimming will be better then.
Dan Rembert
Clean & well maintained. I picture this park as perfect for those grumpy dads who wanna fish on the weekend but are stuck with their wife and kids. Dad can be down on the rocks fishing while the kids are on the playground and mom is grilling burgers in the picnic area. Win win for everyone.
T K
What an awesome place. Well run reasonably priced campground and a absolutely beautiful place. My only complaint is the boat ramp is unusable at low tide and if you go out not knowing you might get suck in the mud. See pic.
Yann BEQUIGNON
Great place for gathering
Plenty of space and the playground is nice
$3 per person over 7 years old
John
Maybe it was just today.....but friendly people abound. Amazing water views for long stretches. Kids: two playgrounds and various beaches. Likely more. $3 per adult.
Hannah Olson
Wonderful place for a family to spend the day or do some camping. Swimmable beach, good size playground, and open space for running around. Lots of fun to be had walking the park and scrambling on rocks looking in tide pools. Non-resident day use is only $3 per person.
Maniac Mustangs
We have yearly family picnics here with my Mustang Car Club. (Maniac Mustangs of Maine). Great place for kids with a huge playground. This place overlooks Casco Bay.
Jason Russell
Fun place to explore the shoreline. Nice relaxed campground with public use spaces. I'd like to camp here sometime and explore more.
david hamilton
Great spot for a quick staycation for me. Very quiet and clean area with stunning views.
Mike Mergenthaler
Great ocean front park for kids and adults alike. Great for swimming, picnics, walks, etc...
David Montgomery
Great park..for camping. Especially for kids..with all the play spaces
Nick M.
We were there for a memorial but walked through much of the park and it very nice. Losts camp sites but it was quiet.
Harrison Kilpatrick
Great camping spot.
Bathrooms are a key indicator of a how well maintained a campground is. These bathrooms are acceptable.
Shawn Campbell
Very nice and clean park. Great views of the ocean.
Lauren Beyea
Peaceful spot for a walk and a great view of the herons and gulls at low tide.
Mary Tracy
Beautiful and huge camping area on the ocean. Lots of walking trails. Clean bathrooms and helpful staff.
Karl Damal
Very nice, clean and well maintained park. A very nice balance of greenery, space, nice views and a very peaceful and quiet place. We love it and will surely return.
John Highstreet
Great park and campground, at first I thought it was going to be too crowded, but there still is a feeling of privacy and everyone was super nice, polite and respectful. I was amazed at how quiet it got when the sun went down. A fun band played in the field, the dock and ramp were easy to maneuver and the walking trails were well maintained, not too long, but offered really nice views.
Ben Keene
Gorgeous park, found it by picking a spot at random in my GPS on the coast. $3 entry free but very happy I stopped here.
Kristi Peterson
I took 5 kids and camped out for the week. The price was excellent. There were bathroom/ showers on site. Huge playground, beach area and close to anywhere. It was great to see when we left I noticed someone placed flags at our entrance site due to our Veteran plates. Thanks to whomever did that. I would recommend this campground.
Catherine Germann
Very muddy & full of potholes in the parking lot. Great place for a walk/run and AWESOME views.
Yo Yown
A beautiful campground right on the ocean! Breezes, spacious sites, close to restaurants and shopping. Nice hiking trails, just wonderful. So relaxing.
We checked in on July 29, 2021 @ 1245. Check in is 1:00. The woman at the entrance was so sadly rude. We thought she was joking "you're early". Then she said" I'll let it go this time, next time be on time". Absolute absence of charm. I'm sorry if she's miserable. Did she think maybe we just wanted a weekend away from our own misery? A simple smile?
Karensa Killmer
Not a typical beach visit. The tide was low. Mud was deep and slippery. Beach area itself was very small.
Nate Hoy
Very inexpensive entry fee to a lovely waterside area with ample parking. Access to the water is heavily dependent on tides, but there are many charcoal grills, picnic tables, covered picnic areas, and of course lovely ocean views throughout.
At the time of this review, entry is $3 per person ($2 for Freeport residents)
Kevin Soucy
This is a great, out of the way find. Really nice playground with panoramic ocean views, picnic and grilling spots, camping, trails, sand beach and restroom facilities. Free in the late fall into spring, pay for admission during the season.
Mary Atala Lessard
When the tide is in, the water/beach experience is fabulous. Tide out means it has a mucky bottom, definitely need water shoes and it could be smelly. The picnic area is amazing. Dogs allowed only there. Clean. THE VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR. Looks out on the islands sprinkled out there in the Freeport area. Bring your own food or use the grill provided. Bring your own coals, and utensils. Fun for all ages. I live in Freeport and I a frequent visitor.
Bethany Bozzuto
Beautiful clean campground with friendly staff and spacious shaded sites.
Karen Brady
Nice park and campground. However don't drive through the campground or the camp police are really rude about it
Cherie est bien
It was outstanding. The restrooms were clean and had great showers that were spacious. The campsite had a beautiful view of the sunset and was about about at least 5 times bigger than the one at Wolfe's Neck Farm, for half the price....there was plenty of grass and beautiful trees at the campsite, too. We loved it......will come back again, definitely......
Brett Binns
Nice friendly campground not far from town and located on a beautiful area of water. I have managed to get a water site on each visit without reservations. I hadn't noticed the shirt but pleasant trail system on earlier visits.
Rebecca Prewitt
Was very clean. Beautiful views. Very nice trails with plenty of spots to rest if needed that had very pretty views. Trails were clean, not a lot of debris. Will definitely be back. Very nice place for picnic. Had a play ground for kids. Didn't get to experience the beach because I had my dog and they are not allowed on the beach.
nancy joneth
Beautiful and quiet park on a peninsula in a bay. As a camper I find the bathrooms could use some refreshing with maybe new floors and the toilets are stained but they are generally clean. There is a sink for washing dishes. No hookups make the park less crowded. It is a very nice place to stay for one night.
Alverta Johnson
Park was packed today. Parking was a problem. Quite a few people ended up parking in no parking locations. Beautiful day at a beautiful park.
Charles Cutler
Playground needs some attention. Sign says no alcohol but I observed many folks drinking. I liked the beach, it is natural and my son loves finding little sea creatures.
Ashley Thrasher
This campsite was beautiful! The only reasons we did not give it a raving 5 stars was: 1. No dogs allowed on the beach (ALL year round) and 2. The woman at the check-in gate (Sue Ann I believe) made us feel unwelcomed upon arrival.
We are MA residents who appropriately received negative COVID tests to be able to come and stay. She made us feel accused of lying, trying to sneak too many people in, being too young to camp, and being loud and disruptive at the campsite - ALL before we got past the gate. For the record, my husband and I are 30 years old with 1 very well-behaved lab. We were well under the limit for number of people for our campsites, and are quite respectful of campsite quiet hours. Her behavior was uncalled for, and really bothered us.
All that said, the campsite was in great condition, beautiful views, and awesome amenities.
Kris Jarrett (Kris Jarrett Photo)
Sites are a bit close together for my taste, but overall clean and a welcome atmosphere.
Andrew Nason
We just found this park a few years ago.
We love it, go here for picnics, such a lovely spot by the ocean.
Normand Ménard
Nice park with camping facilities in season.
Mitch Jenneman
We enjoy coming in the off season. There is no entrance fee and parking is always great! Its the same park minus most of the amenities.
Things are further closed up currently because of covid and i doubt anyone is disinfectanting the playground, but we still took our kids over the weekend to get that excercise they so need! They can play on the playground, we picnic in the grass, and the beach is still fun to explore in the colder months.
During the busy season, the fee is minimal. We still come but not as often.
Sarah Mulcahy
I've been going to this campground since I was four years old - that was over 20 years ago. It's very quiet, idyllic, and has amazing views of Casco Bay. This is a family campground and they are good at enforcing the quiet time rules. No dogs allowed on the beach - something to be aware of if you have a dog.
Patricia Riley Odone
It's always very quiet, not many people here but the beach is very mucky mud when the tide is out. Having said that it is a beautiful location and if you have kids it's really fun for them... there's a little playground an decent changing room/ bathrooms etc.
Eric Hanson
Site #8, was perfect. Nice, quiet and full ocean view.
Niki Nickerson
Winslow Memorial Park is the perfect place to experience all that the great outdoors has to offer. Winslow Memorial Park is one of Maines finest. Fun for the whole family. Trails, beach, campsites and more. Now offering live entertainment Thursday nights.
Snowshoe Dancer
A town owned campground (101 sites) and day use area (beach, playground and nature trails). Don't expect the KOA or anything in that league. No utilities on any site! Quiet hours are strictly enforced. The beach is only Sandy at the top of the tide. When the tide goes out its a muddy mess to get to the water. Day use facilities are open to the public with a fee so expect more crowds. CG sells firewood and ice only. Very few pull through sites. Lots of pluses for those looking for a quiet, scenic overall chill experience on the Maine coast.
Paul Simard
State park, small fee, free off season, small beach, camping, nature trails walk, ok dogs, great views.
Oscar Daniels
Nice place for a winter walk and to look out over the water. The wind can be quite strong so dress warmly. I’ve never been in the summer but the number of campsites and the playground area make me feel like it could be crowded and busy. If that’s what you like, great. But I think I will probably visit most in winter.
Alton Benson
Hidden jewel coastal waterfront camp sites.
Tf Kiv
We went to kayak. Our car of two paid an $8 fee. I think it was $6 for a single. There is a boat launch, kayaks not welcome beyond it. The bad news, we arrived at low tide and the water was a good 100 yards from the boat launch . We lugged/dragged the boats to the water though calf deep mud. Unpleasant. Landing at high tide was a breeze.
Friends of Mike Conners
Great beach with an adjacent playground, get there early for parking. Very low cost.
Adam Archer
We truly enjoy coming to Winslow Park. It is a town park with a beautiful campground. There are no hookups for travel trailers but you can run your generator 3 times a day. We use a 100 watt solar panel to keep our battery charged and have no problems. The inland sites which we use are a good size. We will keep coming back as much as can. Thank you Freeport, Maine for a beautiful park.
Nathan Brassard
Beautiful views. Peaceful setting. Great playground. Stop by for a few hours or stay in the campground. Don’t miss the views from Stockbridge Point. Easy walking. Pet friendly. Free for seniors. Small entrance fee for non-Freeport residence.
Jennifer Moon
This campground is an absolute gem! The views are extraordinary. It’s very well kept. Staff was great. We were thrilled to discover it and can’t wait to return.
Beverly Miller
Visited this park on Sunday. I was very impressed! The beach and picnic areas were nice. Walked all around the park. The campsites and restroom facilities were also nice and scenery is beautiful!
Pavel Staniczek
beautiful place, hot and clean shower, lake view is spectacular :)
jeremy D
We were there swimming and having fun very nice day we also have a camper and wanted to drive through the campground to see if it was something or someplace that we would like to bring our camper and stay However they do not allow people that are there to swim to enter the campground not sure why that's why I only gave the three star. Maybe they don't want you to see something until it's too late and you've already reserved a spot. We had to pay money to get in, we just wanted to look around a little bit to see how it was in there, I guess that cost more money
Jim Mohler
This is a great campground right on Casco Bay. After the summer season you it's a nice place to walk and enjoy the view across the bay to the islands. There is a ramp for small boats and it's a good place to launch your kayak or canoe.
Terence McTague
One of the nicest camp sites I’ve ever stayed at– gorgeous views along short trails. Very quiet and picturesque. My dog had the best time!
Paul Dececco
Beautiful views and comfortable walking.
Sam
This is our second time camping here, and we love it. The view alone, is enough to make you want to visit again. Its a nice quiet campground, that overlooks the bay.
Anylia the Inspired Artist
This is a great campsite and this is coming from a Rural Vermonter!
We didnt think the sites would be as private until we discovered ours nestled between the trees. This campsite offers a lot. The scenic views. The great people. Some little girl named laylah helped me pick shells in the mud when the tide was low! She just said hello and became my friend though I of coarse introduced myself to her parents and they were super cool about it. Maine locals are the coolest!
Gave us good advice about the resteraunts here. The people who run it here are pretty active. They have no problem chatting or checking up on ya. I feel that gives us extra security knowing who's coming and going
Well job you two :)
We are spending a few more days then sadly have to leave but thank you, Laylah, for the unique shells you happened to have found. Even let her hold a little hermit crab! Told her to show you both lol
Anyway thank you for this wonderful and beautiful area. We plan on coming next year and years after that!

Great local place to camp, swim or to have a pinic.
Joseph Ogden
Always an enjoyable experience. The price of entry has gone down, especially for non-locals! The views are always stunning and the trails are relaxing to trek. I will always come here on my travels!
Hanna Collins
I come every year for the annual Close to the Coast 5k/10k in June and they do such a wonderful job hosting. It's very beautiful, surrounded by ocean. Bathrooms and showers for comfort!
Susan Evanik
Nice park to spend the day. Free for seniors.
Warren Braman
What a way to finish a wonderful day of shopping. The raw rugged shore of Maine, a great place to stretch your legs and the pups. Beautiful sunset!
Gina Snow
One of the best. Dry camping only.
Andrew Boyd
Awesome campground! If you can, get an ocean side campground. The views are well worth it.
Keith Andrews
One of Freeport's best public parks. Offers a boat launch, playground, tidal beach, concerts in the Summer, and camping. Just 10 minutes from downtown Freeport. Admission fee or annual pass is required.
SANDY LEE PORTER
Lovely park on a beautiful summer day. Went for a walk on the trail with benches and multiple views of the sailboats in the bay. Wasn't able to swim due to low tide.
John Cawthorne
Friendly, clean and beautiful camping spot. Lots of room and not overcrowded. Perfect! If we’re back to Freeport again, this is the place!
Anca G
Great place for a winter walk next to the ocean. Has a playground which the kids enjoyed. Would love to return for tent camping in the summer.
Ronald Valade
This is a great camping park. Beautiful, shoreline views on well manicured property. Being a tidal location, it can be pretty buggy. Bring the deet!
Carol Doyon
Great place for everyone. Clean and so much room for everyone from day swimmers to camp sites
Valerie Flanagan
Well maintained private park and campground. Cute little beach. Fee to put in kayaks and boats. (Biting flies took away from the relaxed atmosphere.)
Rhonda Reed
Such a nice place to look at ocean and picnic and so close to town. It's a hidden treasure for passer-byers like me. Nice break from travel to Portland or shopping in Freeport. You should check it out.
Carlos Elias
This is a gem great spot for family's and picking the view is incredible
Denise Higgins
We absolutely love Winslow! Quiet & waterfront sites are amazing! We love the easy back access into Freeport. We are looking forward to more visits in 2020!

The world famous desert of Freeport! It's gotta be famous for a reason. The sign reads "sands from all over the world" However, I did not go inside so I don't know if it lives up to the hype.
Kimberly Watson

For the location it can not be beat. I prefer wilderness camping over this style, but I also can not complain about one thing from the eight years of staying a night or two per summer.
David Hamel
We camp a lot...we go all summer long...this is an anazing location 2 hours from home and well AMAZING...
Jenny Russell
Nice waterfront sites. Clean restrooms and showers. Good playground for kids.
Sandra M Chickering
Small piece of heaven, so peaceful here!

Better at high tide than low tide—beach leads to mud flats rather than water at low tide.
Julia Johnston
Nice place to put in a kayak, though you do have to pay an entry fee.
