Reviews of Tom McCall Waterfront Park
This waterfront area is nice for walking, bike rides and a great place to hangout. The park was clean and had restrooms. Few homeless people in the area. We booked a lime scooter and strolled around the park for 5 miles.
The walkways are paved and there's a lane for the cyclists. Loved the scenery and the bridges over the river.
There are a bunch of cherry trees in the park which must be magnificent in spring.
When I visit any city, I always head for the waterfront. This is where the spirit of the city is best felt. You can start your walk in this park and walk along the Willamette River, which runs through the city of Portland. What I find amazing is the amount of bridges crossing the river. Feels like every road turns into a bridge.
Took a star off as there a some benches missing the wooden planks. There a lot of many homeless in this area. But overall the river walk felt safe.
I really have no words for how much I love this place. The trail is amazing. Takes me about 2 hours to walk the whole thing from the Tillukum bridge to the Steel bridge. A great workout! And beautiful while you're at it. Particularly great in summer and then in the mornings. The only downside is the amount of homeless people around. I've never had any trouble but it can be scary if you want to go for a stroll in the evening.
Nice water front park and trails. Lots of covered area for festivals and events. Large grassy areas but are covered in geese poo. Great views of the bridges. Not a lot happening this day.
Well upkept waterfront. Lots of joggers and walkers but it's wide enough for everyone to walk/run comfortably. The views are nice and it's very serene. My family and I enjoyed it very much.
Attended the Oregon Brewers Fesitval in the park. It was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed ourselves. The park itself sits on the Willanmette River and is a nice place to walk. It feels safe and has nice views of East Portland.
Couple of my favorite events down here: cherry blossom blooms, brewfest, pride, bridges to brew and Portland Saturday market.
With a wide, multi-use path and well kept lawn all the way along, this mile long waterfront park is an awesome place to walk, run, ride or just sit down, read a book or have a conversation.
The part close to Steel Bridge (from around Burnside Bridge) has some homelessness issue; the southern half is more touristy with a marina and restaurants and other businesses right by the path.
A fantastic place to run too, the views are great, and there is no need to worry about the traffic.
Beautiful place. It's nice to have picnic over here. Right now there are a lot of cherry blossoms. It's better to go here during weekday becuase it will have few people.
This is a great place especially in Spring when you can go check out the Cherry 🌸 Blossoms in late March, early April. Its a must see. Summer is also a good time to go there. …
Nice waterfront park ❤️😍 …
I love it here. It’s very calming and relaxing. Lots of cool wildlife. Go boating if you can! What a wonderful experience out there! It’s just beautiful. So much more to see if you are out on the river. This place is so beautiful ♥️
Very nice for walking and hiking. A little bit noisy due to traffic. Be careful about bird’s poops😂 …
Visited this place first time and throughly enjoyed our time there. Good place to entertain kids too. Enjoyed the lovely cherry blossom bloom. It was very pretty to look at. Lots of musician n artists.
Great place to walk around on the weekends. We went to the Saturday Market and then strolled the waterfront. Would not reccomend going at night though.
Beautiful water front and good place to spend some good time !!
A Portland Classic. Lovely year-round, but perhaps most especially when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.🌸 …
Great place to walk alongside the river and have an awesome relaxing time . Can't believe there is such a place in the middle of the city but it is worth going and taking good pictures with the Hawthorne bridge or the steel bridge
Great place to go for a peaceful walk. On weekends, there is the market on the north end. Popular place for joggers.
There are a lot of homeless here but they didn't bother me. They kept to themselves, although they take up a lot of the benches.
Nice place to walk around and on May 5 you can enjoy the celebration as I did this day
Great place to walk the dog on a Saturday morning or afternoon
Nice waterfront park with great walking pathways.
Lovely place in downtown. Its a awesome place to visit during Cherry Blossom season.
I used to do long walks with friends or sometimes by myself just to relax and connect with the surrounding, very nice place
Great place to enjoy the Saturday market..amd all types of holidays and events. This park is like the heart of Portland..great for walking ans jogging. Not that I jog...just sayin...
Nice place to relax on week-ends 😊 …
I seriously thought this was a joke so I had to check it out. Definitely a good laugh and I don't think there's anything else like this in the world. Be careful if you get close to it, if a crowd builds you'll be blocking the street since it's located between the steets on the middle island.
Great place to run and ride bikes. Absolutely beautiful during the evening. Also, a nice place to cool down when it is too hot.
Very nice place to just walk and get lost in your thoughts. There was a market to go to so, I went and saw what the locals had to offer. Lots of talent. The view and atmosphere was nice.
Perfect place to get some fresh air. Besides the overwhelming homeless around it's still nice. No one bothers you. Great place to read and first dates.
Late March/early April is the best time to go. Trees were in full bloom. Went on a Saturday and it was very very busy. Don't plan on taking many pictures if you don't want people in the background because it was packed.
Excellent community gathering spot! Great food and amazing city sights! Great place for a jog or coffee on a bench!
Weekends are best to go, as the market is on. Lots of local vendors and musicians around.
Have wonder over the market, everyone is really friendly and is not trying to push you to buy anything, as I enjoy this very much.
Try the elephant ears with cinnamon sugar.
Beautiful place
Except lots of panhandlers and most people on bikes are not even a little careful with others walking.
We walked through the park on our way to the Saturday morning market. It's very well kept and has a nice walk along the river. I don't know what accommodations it has as far as picnic tables or restrooms. But a nice walk nonetheless.
Beautiful waterfront property and view of bridges is excellent at night with the lights shining off the water.
Has to be one of the best downtown parks in the country. On sunny days that is. It's like everybody's there. Parking is a pain but the walk there is worth it. The city is remarkably clean, even with all of the outside rural living quarters found throughout. Everyone loves being out doors.
The Saturday market was amazing. Great gift shopping and food to eat and the river is right there
Love this place! So many memories of playing in the fountain as a kid and going to different fairs and carnivals!
Nice stroll down the Waterfront and Saturday Market today...Mother's Day!
Great place to get away to (& not to too)
Amazon Truck happened to be across street this day. *WON all 3* woohoo
Beautiful place, there was a lot of people, because of Entertainment Games a nice weather.
Beautiful place to walk and see the waterfront
A great experience. Wonderful atmosphere and great vibe.
Went to the Portland Winter Light Festival. This waterfront is always participating in fun things like this, Rose festival, etc. You can walk on bridges and even take small cruise boats!
SOOOOOO beautiful during the spring time with all the cherry blossoms blooming! Definitely worth the visit especially at this time of year!
Nice to be along the water but a little dirty. Was there for an event Doggie Dash which was fun
Although the Tom McCall Waterfront Park had an absolutely gorgeous view of the two bridges and the water, the atmosphere was less than ideal. The grass was super dry and gross. I saw lots of glass and animal poop, which made me weary the walk or sit in the grass. It was worth visiting for the view, but it isn't a place I would want to hang out.
This is one of the places that really makes Portland. The views are phenomenal and it's very walkable. The bridges are all unique. There's a marina on the South end of the path, and shops/ restaurants. Further north on the roughly one mile walk there's boat rides. I've been on a jetboat, and Portland Spirit river cruise. On a clear day it's wonderful, but always worth seeing.
It is very beautiful down on the water front
Loved the park. A shining example to the world of what can be fine when the citizens come together for a good cause. Thank you Portland.
Love going there anyday. Needless to say, spring is so so beautiful and the cherry blossoms are icing on the cake!
Great place to bring family and pets, or enjoy lunch for downtown employees. Do checkout the Cherry Blossoms in mid March to start of April. They are towards the north in front of American Japanese Historic plaza.
Good place to go for an evening walk or run!
Always a great place to participate in a demonstration! Was there to support the teachers in an effort to get the state legislation passed for full school funding.
Yeah, this is Portland. Not a whole lot else to say about it other than what you hear is true. Waterfront is a nice place but there are a lot of homeless people who now call it their home, so it's a little less nice. Not tht I don't feel for them and their plight, I do. Either way, it's a nice place for a stroll to see the water and strange people.
Vibe check ❌
We were expecting a huge market but were pretty let down. The pride festival next door seemed to be interesting but we didn't have time to check it out.
There were some local artists with cool products. There were also a few homeless people messing up the market at certain parts.
A beautiful place to enjoy the morning sunshine.
I absolutely love the waterfront! Wether you are going down there for a lovely stroll, or a specific venue, it can't be beat! There is almost always something happening down there! I've been down there on a multitude of occasions, but most recently I went for the pride festival 2017!! It was such a spirited event filled with love and kindness all around! Of course right along the waterfront like every weekend(March through Christmas eve) was Saturday market! Which we also paid a visit to for some amazing food!! Great sights, sounds, smells. Handmade items for sale, what more could you ask for! All around great experience!
I guess the only thing I would warn anyone about would be plan on paying to park, and walking alot!! Or taking public transit. Be prepared to see quite a few homeless people around because they are around down there, but they are no bother, they are actually friendly!
Under utilised area of riverbank (was hoping to enjoy cafe by the river). Nice park. Bike hire available. Just felt it was missing something.
All the beauty of trees rustling, water lapping and the city bustling. I love it here.
Lovely place to chill during the summer. Plenty of space and ample tree cover. Just be sure to bring a blanket as seating is limited.
The northern portion isn't as nice, I generally prefer staying a few blocks south of Burnside.
A perfect day with a perfect guy! One of the few things that makes Portland worth it.
Loved it, great place for photo shooting or just to have a nice walk by the River front
Great view. Good for food carts.
Tom McCall Waterfront is always beautiful but especially in the spring, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom
great place for a walk, run or bike. clean with nice views.
This place is so beautiful! Plus on Saturday’s they have a lovely local businesses market!
Long park that is all along the waterfront.
Home to events and the everyday jogger. Bikes, scooters, and skateboarding along with the walker or even the meditation group.
Nice walk, but a lot of geese and geese residue. Pretty view out over the river and right in the downtown, with nice restaurant options along the way. Good for a late afternoon walk.
Just saw one of THE BEST SINGERS I HAVE EVER HEARD. THANK YOU BETH HART FOR THE GREATEST SHOW! And I would have to say about 2000 other people will agree with me because they were giving her a standing ovation.
Beautiful. But very large homeless population. Detracts some from the experience.
A great place to walk on a sunny afternoon.
A beautiful place to run, take in views of Portland, and on occasion shop at a local market.
Great place to go for a walk along the water in the middle of the day or whenever.
Sunday Market still has the best gifts for hard to find gifters! It's a beautiful run around the Waterfront!
Beautiful scenery. Got to visit for the 4th of July 2020. The view is just unbelievable and people were behaving.
Gorgeous place to watch the cherry blossoms. The colors during a bright sunny day are amazing and worth the wait. This beautiful spectacle only happens once a year and lasts for two weeks but it's so worth it! Families come here with their kids and walk around or just sit under the shade of a tree and relax. Tourists can also be seen here as well as couples and friends just meeting for a chat. Others come here to run or bike around and be weird. It is lovely and just what Portland is all about.
Beautiful place to ride a bike, go on a walk, or even go jogging. The temperature was perfect when I visited in the summer and the waterfront was not crowded.
Good views. Great place to run or just go sight seeing.
Where else could you see the best bands in one place during the Pabst Music Festival?
Great place for a walk
The Saturday market sets up on the North end of this Riverwalk below the Burnside bridge. It offers excellent views of east Portland. There are plenty of places to grab a quick bite just across the street.
Great place to get some sun, people watch or jog!
Best part of portland. It is majestic to see the bridges along Willamette open for passing ships.
Downtown Portland. The market is just behind us here which is good for wandering a couple of hours soaking in the river and art.
Cool little park with a good view!
2019 Waterfront Blues Festival. One of the best times and experiences in Portland.🎸🎸 …
Portland blues festival 2019! Had a blast and enjoyed the food.
Great walking path. Watch out for bikes.
Great open waterfront. There was a concert there in the summer.
Great place to people watch or wait for the Portland Spirit
Really pretty waterfront area. I'm really glad we made the time to check it out. There's also a museum on a boat that is open 3 days of the week over there .
Beautiful river, what else? But they shrunk the big float
Nice view of the waterfront, and a lot of open space to walk around and relax. (Apart from the goose poop everywhere at the time)
Great stretch to walk during lunch or on the way to work. Not a good spot to bike during lunch or after work as it's crowded. Nice view of the bridges and Mt Hood when it's clear.
Tha best place for walking on summer with family
I've loved Waterfront Park for a loooooong time! Always a great vibe with all kinds of stuff ongoingly going on :)
Beautiful place to relax, people watch, catch some rays, walk or bike around .
Beautiful park with many sights of the river!
Nice place to stop for a break and watch the sailboats.
I'm interested in the free ,rose festivals... I know i had fun fun fun fun fun fest time...
The park is a nice place to stroll along the river. The weekend Market is a lively place full of interesting treasures and lots of of treats. I enjoyed watching the boat traffic and seeing the diversity of the people who were enjoying the park.
Beautiful views of the river and the bridges, and lots of cool looking people stroll through (people watching is impossible to resist here).
Beautiful and good size park, good for kid and dogs friendly. For run or chilling on the grass. I just wish there were more trees, it's always better to have more shadow and benches too in a park :)
Awesome riverside park. Jet fountain that kids will love. Saturday market with like 1000 vendors and awesome restaurants, bars and dispensaries. Parking cost $ but it's Portland so expect that.
Nice green area overlooking the river. Good for a picnic or to chill out.
Best time and beautiful park and people
A place to jog around the whole water front 💪👍✨💪👍😊 …
Cherry blossoms are at peak bloom 3/12/20 go within the week while you still can
This park is so nice. Great views the whole way. Wide walking & biking paths allow plenty of space for transportation. There are only a few spots with bad traffic noise but mostly the nose is drowned out by either the river or public fountains and wading areas. Tons of friendly geese and pigeons at all times of day. Not aggressive like some birds in other parks - bring some grain for them and they love you!
There are a few 'urban camping enthusiasts' in the park, but none that seemed threatening. Maybe it was just due to the sunny weather, but everyone seemed chilled out and happy to enjoy the park.
Great place to take in Portland. Lovely place to go for a walk.
Love this park in the spring and the beautiful blossoms. Only drawback is so many people.
IG:@cookingchihuahua
Amazing park, Portland's best gathering place for parades, protests, outdoor concerts or just a picnic or walk in the sunshine
Beautiful place to take a slow stroll.
Lot of nice stores around. Good place to hang around with friends and family.
Lots of food tents/carts. Plenty of vendors peddling their wares. Lots of people watching. Bands on different corners. Plenty of fun for a Saturday.
I love waterfront all the different events all the time going on and to different water parks to play with kids love it
Saturday market one of my favorite things to do in the summer, a lots of different kinds of delicious foods, a lot of people, art, live music so much fun.
Dog loves swimming in the river lots of sticks for gim to play with, and i cant get him out of the water foutain.
Beautifuly appointed area along the Portland waterfront. Great biking and walking trails as well as places for people to hang out and relax. Awesome place for concerts and houses the amazing Saturday Farmers Market.
Saturday Market is the best place for unique, handmade items you can't find anywhere else. Food is great too and there's music / entertainment as you explore. Only open from Spring to Christmas. 😕 You can spend a whole morning and afternoon there. When the market is closed, you can still walk the beautiful waterfront park. …
It's a great place to people watch, with a beautiful view of the river.
Nice place to talk a quick walk in city...free!
Chill, no one bothered me. Peaceful. The geese and ducks weren't paying me any mind. Relaxing and easy to be in. Bring a jacket
Great place for a sunny day walk on the water front
Haven't been in a while, not many people great time to be in Portland, unusual but not for what has been happening in the evenings
I’m a over the road truck driver and while on my journey this is where I decided to take my break, best part of my mission hands down!
We always drop by for the cherry blossom trees in spring!
Riverfront with beautiful bridges right in the heart of downtown Portland... perfect place for a perfect city!
Came for 30th annual Blues Fest. Had wonderful time!
Beautiful place..just lots of homeless people in the area:/
So beautiful with all the bridges.
A nice park with some fountains and a cool view of the city lights and bridges on the other side of the river.
Went to pride here and it was amazing. The park is great.
Still beautiful year after year.
Great location for the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival
Great. Day on the waterfront
It is never a bad day to walk down waterfront park!
Beautiful scenery but don't know if it would be safe at night.
Beautiful park, Saturday Market fun.
Waterfront is amazing this time of the year.
The Portland Waterfront can be crazy at times, busy, but it's so nice just to chill there, or skate, walk, run :) There are better places to ride a bike, just sayin :D
A fun park with lots going on, the Saturday market is worth checking out for a few hours
Beautiful in every season, especially during the blooming of the cherry blossoms.
Nice place to read or enjoy a rest.
Really like the market
Great rides ... a lot of fun ... but way too expensive
Wonderful walk, all the bridges were wonderful
It's not as good as I remember when I was a kid but it's still a lot of fun
Gorgeous views of the river!
Great park, just too many duck poop :-)
You'll never know what you can find on there I met a pet turtle it was moving very fast I I took a video so I don't know if I can share it
Fun place to people watch. After dark be weary of sketchy people about.
Magnificent view at night. Dope photo spot.
I'm so grateful to have a beautifully maintained piece of Portland to enjoy. Whether a leisurely stroll along the Willamette River, a sunny meditation on the/whilst rolling grass, or a springtime treat of all the pink petaled blossoms carpeting the ground, this park will always be a Portland Staple for me.
Always the best time people watching. This is the mermaid parade.
Nice place lots of ducks and geese
Awesome place on Independence day as it was lit up with firecrackers
My husband and I just walked the waterfront for the 1st time since moving here in July and had such a great time!! It was a beautiful day and the water was so nice to be next to. The walkways are nice and wide so there's more than enough room for everyone to get through. There's a cool looking maritime museum that was closed when we were there but we plan on going back to check it out. 1 star is knocked down because of the smell when you go under the bridge where that old sewage plant is. I'm not sure if it's up and running or not but that threw off our carefree vibe lol otherwise though it was great!
Such a beautiful and relaxing area my wife and I enjoyed walking around. It was a nice view of the city on the other side, the bridges, if you want to get a little out of the main part of the city with all the buildings. Its cool to see Portland from a different angle. I do wish there were some more vendors out by the water, it would attract much more people. I get they have events there, but for all of the people visiting the area, who probably don't know about these events, we're stuck walking for a while. Maybe promote bicyclists to carry people from place to place around the area?
Great park to ride a bike thru, or have yourself a leisurely stroll. Stop by the Oregon Maritime Museum right in the waterfront. There are beaitil views of the bridges and water. Really a lovely place to go. Also don't miss the cherry blossoms in March/April!
Great people watching, beautiful scenery!
4th of July. Just go.
Can you zoom in and see the sealion?! It caught a fish!
Beautiful place i would go back again and again!
you have to rent a scooter or a bicycle and enjoy this great area of downtown Portland
Always a local favorite!
A place you can never miss in Spring when you visit Portland!
Excellent gathering place for hundreds of different events during the year, from dragon boats to music festivals to rallying points. Tom McCall waterfront park is very versatile!
A great stretch of greenery along the river along with Portland market on the weekends.
Great events all the time here
Loved it. There's a deep sense of patriotisim as you get on the deck of all the ships docked there.
Catching the cherry blossoms in spring has become a family tradition.
The people the food the river great place !
Absolutely breathtaking. I love to come here because it is so beautiful and lovely. I have always enjoyed taking a walk along the water, seeing the skyline glimmering (when it's sunny!) to the right. Nice to see bigger cities with great, accessible parks in the midst.
The best way to experience Waterfront Park is by going to Blues Festival!
We come down to this park annually for Oregon Brewfest. Great pedestrian walk way along the water. In the summer, there are geese which the children enjoy looking at. There is also a large fountain at one end that’s great for kids when it’s really warm.
Lunch at Saturday Market. Lots of vendors and food options, and we were told the elephant ears are "life changing". Should have changed my life for $5! 😂 …
I love walking/ bicycle touring the water front! There are so many activities to do around here! Saturday market, rent a bike, fountains to play in and more! There are also many events that take place on the waterfront as well. Its just a great place to hang out if you are bored and looking for a good time!
Great place to walk around and see the waterfront. So many events held here year round.
Loved their summer blues FESTIVAL
Beautiful day for a ride down the waterfront! Portlands parks are part of what makes thos such a great coty to live in.
Nice to visit when in Portland, plenty of colourful characters here
A little meet and greet with the 'Corridor Digital' crew. It's refreshing to meet some You Tubers who work hard, can carry on a meaningful conversation with youth and give solid advice to their followers.
I went to the Waterfront Blues Festival over the 4th of July weekend
Very lovely place lots of beautiful thing s to enjoy especially on the week end
Literally my favorite thing I did at Portland! We rented a double coupe for $25/hour, but there are also bikes and tandem bikes for rent for cheaper! It's a great thing to do on a sunny day in Portland because you can bike around the waterfront and see the city view! It's a really nice thing to do with friends or significant others. I prefer the coupe over the tandem bike for rental since you can sit next to someone and just talk as you're taking your stroll!
We had a great time at the rose festival!!
Nice place to visit the river and take a stroll.
Beautiful Park on a nice summer day. Great crowd of people just hanging out
Love the scenery and the walk 🥰 …
Went to this carnival as part of the Portland Rose Festival activities. Wife and I got in free, because I'm retired Navy. Paid $8 for my son. The rides are mostly disappearing, but we did pull some serious G's on one of them. Cost for rides was $5 per ride per person, which is crazy expensive. Just keep your expectations low, and enjoy the people-watching.
Awesome place to listen to a concert!
End of March, beginning of April, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom! Plenty of trees for some nice pictures, and people are generally friendly during my experience.
Portland's waterfront on the river is a perfect place to stroll to clear your mind, or catch up with a friend. It's great for jogging, and during seasonal weather, great for people watching and part take in the Saturday Market near the old square. It is also home to many of Portland's houseless community members.
City fair was a blast
Went here to see the cherry blossoms. Had a good experience even if it was little rainy on the day. There are few cherry blossoms on the side closer to the bridge. It is a nice location for someone who wants to do portrait photography. You can get nice pictures with a long lense.
Amazing place to view Portland.
Great place to go for a run/walk/bike ride with little shops and restaurants along the way!
Attended the mermaid parade this year ... 12 minutes of curiosities fantasies and portlandia
The river is gross but still beautiful none the lesa
A lovely place to go walking. Nice views. Carry a stick
Beautiful park with wonderful views.
There's a needle drop off box, always a welcome amenity!
I like it. You get the random homeless person screaming at you and they have a lot of events that take up the space in the warmer months, and the bikers will fly right past you walking which bothers me and my bubble but I like to take the occasional walk. My favorite is when people will bring out there music and start dancing.
It's Portland!
Great place to walk especially during the spring, summer, and fall. Both sides of the water front have a different feel to it, and the full loop is around 5 miles while you can choose to walk through the various bridges in downton Portland.
Cherry blossoms! Also tons of open area for the dogs to run around
Pretty nice place to be at during the Memorial Day weekend. The fair is in town with live bands in the evening. Fireworks show was excellent and I highly recommend watching on Friday when they are scheduled.
Beautiful! We loved the water! :)
Just a normal park with a nice view
During 2019 Pride, the ground stayed dry, not dusty in the non-grassy area. Great park for walking long distances with laps, or a nice lay in the sun in the grass, maybe by a tree. There are great parks in Portland, this one is specifically for the items listed above.
Fun place for the day... drink water and eat good food
Used to be a freeway and now it’s a park. Thanks Tom McCall! (It
Wasn’t really Tom McCall...
Wonderful place for a walk with lovely places to stop and great restaurant options along the way.
Great place to relax. Always something fun going on here, like watching the fireworks on the fourth, or several different beer or food fests. Also nice just to walk along and look at the river.
Enjoyed the park. We were there for the Blues festival. Bring your own chairs, the park benches were filled with homeless people. We were unable to walk for a while then sit to enjoy the river and the park
This is a wonderful venue for any event or protest or demonstration or festival or party or gathering or meet up of any type I absolutely love this park
Nice place to go, especially if you have family or friends in town..
A very good place too take the entire family. There is a great place for kids to cool off when it's hot, and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat even have a picnic I highly recommend water front park. Or even work out this is the place for you
Come here for the nightly crow pre-roost just after twilight and into the early evening. Also, the site of wonderful seasonal events, relaxing, walking, biking along the river and more. This park used to be a highway!
I had so much fun. Thank you to my amazing Husband Jeff Utterson
So beautiful. Nice place to relax and take in the sights. Beautiful at night if you like to gaze at the city lights.
Cool place nice people
Used to be a road that ran along the river, now it's a beautiful park. Fun walk around down here on the waterfront
Beautifully place
Nice place to go to enjoy the river view and relax a bit...generally well maintained and fairly safe for families as the police patrol regularly
I absolutely love this park. Over looking the water and seeing the bridges are breath taking. The park itself hosts many events and festivals. The best part about going to the water flexing is the lifestyle it comes with. A lot of people walking and biking around. It’s beautiful and gorgeous
Great people view is beautiful.
Great place to walk or jog people watch and there's usually some event happening down there so it's a good place to gather
Great park. Great place to hang out, ride your bike, people-watch, load up on the Portland Spirit water cruise, etc
Nice views of the river and bridges. Great place to walk with your sweetheart.
Absolutely beautiful!! My fiancé and I got engaged here, the view of the river and the city at night were so perfect!!
Beautiful waterfront views anytime of the year. Always a great place to walk to see the city views.
A get part of what makes Portland special. Walk, run or cycle along the Willamette right downtown and enjoy the city, the views and the River, and of course the wide variety of humans that make Portland unique.
Brewfest and Llamas.... Always something fun going on here.
Nice place to do a walk or jog especially during sunrise and sunset
Its a beautiful park, but I don't go down there in cool or wet times as I don't care for that type of weather.
Love this park in the city on the waterfront. Beautiful views and lots of space for events or just hanging out. Can be a little sketchy at night due to expanding homeless population.
Great day for a bridge tour !
Waterfront park is a great place to walk the dog, and it's wheelchair friendly.
It's a great place to walk up and down the river and see the bridges. It does attract all sorts of people so be aware of that, but I have never had any problems there. I like the variety. It's fun!
I love this place. In the summer, the kids and I could spend hours here.
she cute ❤️🤩 …
All in all, and in general, this is a great place to walk year around with caveat about days and times.
PROS: Great people watching | Oregon Maritime Museum | Saturday Market on Saturdays and Sundays | Fleet Week | Summertime events | Running and walking during no peak hours | Always close to good restaurants just across Naito | Cherry blossoms in Spring | Large grassy areas along entire Waterfront path | Plenty of public restrooms (Portland Loo's) | Safe during day-light hours | Walking access to all the bridges for crossing on foot | Plenty of room to stage family events or just to hang out | Friendly geese!
CONS: Can host a number of homeless day or night | Kind of sketchy after hours - homeless hangouts near Steel Bridge, Hawthorne Bridge, Burnside Bridge, well all the bridges that span the waterfront - If you plan on exercising after hours, wear lights | You will see an occasional drug needle | Some folks do not clean up after their pets - watch out when you and your kids play in grassy areas | Sometimes the homeless lock themselves in the public restrooms (Portland Loo's)
OVERALL: Look, all places have their cons. The scales are tipped in favor of the PROS. If you can soak in all the goodness that the waterfront has to offer, the CONS mentioned will be a fleeing memory. Just keep your wits about you, especially after hours. ALSO, please keep in mind that the City of Portland does an outstanding job maintaining the grounds and amenities. I don't think I have ever witnessed the park void of a few city vehicles and employees cleaning or performing some type of maintenance or general work during daylight hours.
Great walkways along the river, but the open green spaces get pretty torn up with concerts, festivals and general activity. It’s not very welcoming or inviting and it doesn’t show off the beauty of the city to tourists.
Nice place to walk along. Lot of events in the area.
Nice place when the cherry bloom is out or there is an event. The rest of the time parts of it can get kind of sketchy with all the homeless, especially at night.
Skid row! But they get help at the park so that's why I do give it 3 🌟 s …
Nice walk along the water but a bit scary due to aggressive people around
A good place to go for a walk or eat lunch on a nice day.
Great relaxing space in the city. A place to just watch the world go by.
Great walking running cycling trail along the Willamette River in downtown Portland. Bridge access to for the pedestrian trail offers a nice 3 mile loop. These trails also extend south and East for 20+ miles to Boring along the Springwater Trail.
Rose festival fireworks was amazin
Nice place to take a walk, see the river and just hang out.
Saturday Market was great! Interesting fun place. Great music and many great food's to choose from and lots of free samples, like the jerky section for example. Tried some amazing things I've never had the opportunity to before. Tried wild boar - sweet & spicy, ostrich - peppered & sweet, alligator was actually pretty good - tastes kinda like tuna, antelope was good as well, my favorite was kangaroo an amazing flavor with a KICK to it (bahaha) my lil' joke & lastly had some elk, smoked salmon & bison which I've had those before. All were very tasty. Definitely a must do booth at the market. So much to see & do here. Finding amazing things you won't or can't find anywhere else. Have fun.
I love to ride my bike down the waterfront & look @ the Willamette River. Great place to sit & relax or to just people watch. Joggers, bikers, walkers & stoner's all welcome!
Great place to buy a gift for friend family or loved one. Visitors-must see! A lot of hand made art, clothing, foods, nic-naks. Can be pricey depending on what you buy but you get your money's worth in my opinion- you are supporting local artist and/or people of the community, small businrss owners and such- spending your money locally helps support a strong local economy.
This year's Blues Festival was very disappointing. There were very few really good Blues. It couldn't even compare to the last 4 years. We will give it one more try. Please have real Blues Bands like the Mavericks.
A great place to hang out and chill. One of my favorite spots for a picnic.
Nice views. Clean park. Great pictures. Would like to have spent more time.
I like Tom McCall Waterfront Park primarily for the Saturday market. They do have a lot of events there throughout the year. It's a great place to people-watch if you want to truly know how the heart of Portland beats. If you want to know something about Portland just ask pretty much anyone who hangs out at Tom McCall Park. You can see the Moda Center across the river and you can take a boat ride down the river. A great place to hang out on a summer afternoon.
Free to go to this ev
Great park for a walk and good view of the river! Must see if you are visiting from out of town.
Great section of the water front to enjoy a calm and peaceful veiw of the water. Brigdes are equally distant and noise from vehicles is not to loud. Directly in front of the Marriott Hotel.
Good place in the town to catch a cool breeze on a hot afternoon or evening. If you can plan to get a little wet the water fountains make cool you down for a nice breeze.
Great scenery, awesome Saturday Market. Puts out great events in this park. Love the atmosphere!
Nice place to walk. Big green space and several restaurant at walk distance
Truly a wonderful part. Every season had it's own feel there with spring Cherry Tress and the rose festival over the summer really makes it a great place and an icon of Portland!
Beautiful location for a walk or a bike ride. During the summer there are many events worth checking out.
Best place to enjoy the Portland spirit
Really nice views but there were fast too many people there that day
cinco de mayo fiesta salvation army youth program boxing under the Morrison bridge
Pretty little place to walk around. I think it's only really hopping on sunny days, which don't seem to happen too often...
Beautiful park to walk around and look over the water.
So cool music fireworks it was GREAT
Best area for a show. Loved the Wayerfront Blues
I love to visit the waterfront and walk the loop a bit over three miles. You don't even notice since there is so much to look at, friends to talk with, the river, the board, the people. All lovely.
Great park along the river. Such a great place to spend the day!
Great place for a walk or to relax and people watch.
Always an interesting place to visit. Sometimes people are friendly and nice, other times people are rude and unfriendly. You have to take the good with the bad. And sometimes its really hard to be so optimistic.
Beautiful location. Always something going on and a great place to run.
This is a special spot in Portland. Great for dates, outings of any sort, or field activities, and close to everything downtown! Bring your kids, your dogs, your kites and frisbees, this is a spot for having fun. :)
A great place for people watching and activities for everyone. It is a great park space on the river.
Great place to walk, jog, run, or whatever. A lot of events and festivals. Great location and a great atmosphere.
Beautiful place and right day to be here. Love the waterfalls but too cold
Super neat place
Great to hang out
Holds lots of events near by
Is amazing place relax and fabulous when they have events May 5th, July 4th and much more
Always a great place for walks. Lots of people watching and sometimes the random crazy going on. Good old Portland keeping it weird!
Portland blues festival and Saturday market
One of my favorite places to enjoy a walk.
Great place for a stroll, people watching, and entertaining the kids for a few hours.
Great location to chillax and enjoy the waterfront. I love going to Voodoo Doughnuts and grabbing one (or a dozen) doughnuts and heading through the Saturday market, people watching all day long. Fun way to spend a lazy afternoon.
Always have awesome events here. Plus beautiful view of the river and various bridges!
Great place to hang out meet people beautiful view
Cherrybloosm are now popping!!!
My favorite place in Portland Oregon.
There are many events and fairs held at this location. It usually only takes half an hour to reach it from Vancouver. If you're looking for a bustle and sights it's a good place to keep an eye on.
Really pretty. Great views of the city and you can even see Mt. Hood from some spots. Slightly reminded me of the River walk in Savannah GA, if you've been there.
Technically I love this place. We like to walk along the river. But boy, you cannot make it through anymore without the stank of pot. That's a bummer.
Usually a lot going on. Saturday Market every weekend, and special events throughout the spring and summer. Can get a little crowded and people riding bikes aren't always very considerate.
Excellent views
We stay in a hotel near by. It is a nice place to walk and hangout. Had lunch in one of the local restaurants and watch the boats and the ships. Nice city by the bay. I will go back again.
A nice time with the family. From Street vendors to quite river walk. My first time there.
Great view but its a small park and feels more like a part of the city then a park.
Amazing views
Great place for friends and family lots of history, tour, food
Beautiful place for adults to sit and chill while the kids play in the water
Such a nice place to visit. You have a choice of going on a 2 hour sightseeing tour on the boat, or you could just sit and relax and watch people jet ski on the river.
Nice public place. It's good to visit any day of the year.
Great place to sit and people watch have a picnic or just sunbathe
Fun with the family.
Awesome views, Great location, close to lots of eats. But man! That goose poo!
Beautiful park with nice views of the river! Must see for anyone in town
Nice place to hang out good for a walk pr bike ride
Nice view to the willamette river very pleasant promenade to go nice ice cream shop we bike here
Pretty place. Very nice in the summertime. Beautiful views. Architecture and nature
It's such a great use of space thst really seems to hit the marks for what development should be. Bringing community together in beautiful outdoor active living. (For free in the middle of the city. )
I love this place personally. Awesome place to walk, bike, skateboard, picnics etc. They have the saturday and sunday market here during the summer which is fantastic. Only downside is the recent influx of homeless people in portland
The park is great but the people that go there... if your not from Portland they wouldn't like it that much
Was my first time going and had a blast. There were all sorts of things to do
Very cool place
Beautiful park that hosts lots of fun festivals during the summer months.
Awesome park. Love walking and people watching
Beautiful.
This is a great place to hang out if you are brand new homeless. I found plenty of other homeless to talk to and they were guiding me through the process
Crowded for the Blues festival but a super spectacular fireworks display!
Great view, great place to walk or ride bikes. Lots of different events are hosted here.
Great place lots of music great food beautiful handmade products beautiful sights lots of people be patient
There just is something wonderful about walking at dusk under cherry blossoms, smelling the aroma of human fecal matter. Looking up at the portland sign, while sharing the view with tweekers and drugs users. They even offered me an injection. Portland people seem nice.
It's a nice place to take a walk, or eat your lunch, or ride your bike, or read a book.
Great area next to the water. I saw a blues festival out there that was awesome.
This park with its grassy knolls, river trail for walking and bicycling, people walking their dogs, Willamette River views, boat watching is a fantastic area of downtown Portland. Summer month bring many festivals including fleet week where visiting ships from Canada and the U.S. dock along the waterfront for public tours.
Must visit! So beautiful and always something fun going on.
It's a great walk along the river. Just don't let your little kids play here, it's full of trash and transients.
Beautiful park to walk around. Lots of stuff to see
Great place to walk, jog, run, or bike at the river's edge of downtown Portland. Visit the Battleship Oregon memorial, the historic Skidmore fountain is nearby, as is the historic Old Town area. A wonderful walking loop will take you along the west side, across a walkway on the Steel Bridge, along the east side Esplanade, and back across the Hawthorne Bridge. Also the scene of the annual Cinco de Mayo and Portland Rose Festival fun center. Worth the visit.
Nice place to go for a walk along the river.
Very nice place to walk or lay down in the grass. There are a number of things to do here such as watch street performers, rent bikes or play in two different splash pads. Great place to visit if you are a local or just visiting.
Good place for a walk, exercise and hang out with family and friends.
Awesome place!
Nice place along the waterfront for a leisurely stroll
A decent easy trail for walks, running and jogging in the city of Portland. When I visited 3 weeks back on a Sunday night it was all dirty and trash everywhere.
A great place to walk and run. Also, dog watching is top notch here. Big ones. Old ones. Young ones. Also the Saturday market is in your path so why not check that out too if you happen to be down there on the weekend.
I enjoying taking my daily Naps & enjoy a great view.
Loved the dragon boats..especially the one boat that wins alot run by the blind! It was amazing! Beautiful park and quite pleasant to walk the river...😊 …
This is the first place to catch my eyes when I arrived in Portland. With all the bridges, and it was fleet week, there were ships all over the place. Good for jogging, biking, and sight seeing. 👍 …
Love this park great views nice place to bring the kids splash area
Beautiful park. Lots of places to walk or ride a bike. Grass and benches to sit on and have a picnic so you can enjoy the view.
Great place to take a walk and jus relax.
It's a nice place to walk or run during the day just on the edge of downtown.
It's a park, and it's nice. A nice park, you might say. There's a river, if that helps.
Lovely little park with good views. It was rainy when I visited, but still very enjoyable.
Beautiful place to relax multi cultured plenty to do and eat
Cool place to chill out and people watch. Great for riding bikes or napping.
One of my favorite places to go on nice warm days. Beautiful park great view of the river also good place to go for events at certain times of the year . Blues Fest ... Rose Festival etc..
The water is my favorite place, if you love going out to the water just to relax I recommend
Nice place for a festival. Fun cool breeze from water and great for people watching.
Beautiful location. Usually quiet and peaceful. Wish that more businesses were open after dark here.
A great place to go directly at the corner of SW downtown. We have our weekly run there. I'd give 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 if there would be a running trail. …
Great place to take your kids and have a good time :)
This park always has something going on. It is a wonderful place to spend a Saturday. The market, music and food is incredible! If you enjoy "people watching" this is the place!
Nice park but the winter weather and temps didn't let us stay very long. The Park is clean and green. Its a great park for an afternoon walk.
Went to the Rose Festival City fair. took my daughter and friend. they had a blast on all the rides. always a great place to go. Summer time fountain to cool off in.
went down to see the Saturday market took a walk along the Waterfront nice cool breeze Sunday afternoon's is the best is not too crowded if you walked in the Steel Bridge down to the Hawthorne Bridge it's nice exercise and there's always a Breeze by the water
Nice view over the river. Good for a walk or run.
If u like crowds and paying a cover charge to be a part of it, go to cinco de mayo. You can pay to hate your life and then pay again when u get inside. No less than $100 per person for some time consuming, personal space violating -good time. My preference is when the amusement parks and festivities are over. The waterfront is an amazing - all the time great place to bring the family, bicycle, people watch, picnic, sightsee, exercise, or meet up, or simply be alone. Peaceful enough for meditation, reading a book, and eventful if u like that sort of thing lol.
Wow everything is popping
Always love coming here for events. Great space and usually well used. It's also maintained well and kept decently clean.
Awesome, we got there during a market. Even without a market. there is so much to do. Voodoo donuts up the road. And lots more.
Beautiful surroundings and views. A great place for a stroll.
I loved the blues festival like i do every year lol! So much fun and a huge amount of diversity there. Love it!
Great area along the waterfront to explore and enjoy
Would highly recommend taking a walk down this park after eating downtown.
I love walking around this park. I go here every time I come to Portland.
Excellent place to visit.
A public place, complete with excellent river walk, well maintained park, excellent security round the clock, well planned and affordable riverboat tours in clean and comfortable large boats. Fine restaurants and five star hotels nearby, a very family friendly orientation. About as good as it gets.
Clean and well kept. Beautiful views of the river. Weekend market is great. Plenty of other planned activities and events going on here.
Great place to view the downtown sights....but also be aware we do have a homeless population that lives down along the waterfront....and yes the grass is nice to see and walk on .......but just like everywhere else there are some pet owners that just don't care if you step in their dogs excrement!.......Sooooo watch where ya put your feet!....otherwise a wonderful place to spend some time...😀
Great park. I just wish it didn't smell like urine all the time.
Some parts of the walk around the water front could do with some guardrail like over near OMSI, but other than that I do like the water front.
We really as a city need to do something about this growing population of homeless. I get it, we are all a contributer to our society as a whole and this have some responsibility for the result of which it ends but I will say this comming from someone who grew up homeless.
There has to be solutions for this problem. It cant all be from donations or free services either. I would love to seethe water front not afflicted with the problem of homelessness. Apparently it doesn't enrage people enough to literally start fixing this issue. Lets all work together to change it.
The park itself is very nice. I love to walk there on the weekends. However the restrooms are not very well kept at times.
A beautiful place to take a walk or ride bikes!
Fun place to be! Love to come here when the City Fair is in town.
Went for Cinco de Mayo, very crowded and only rides and food, no music. Normally the park is wonderful and you can be on the waterfront. Too crowded and noisy.
Went there for Saturday Market! We had fun with delicious Food!!! Go check it.
My favorite place in the area to go skating and enjoy the beautiful city we are so blessed to call home.
Nice place but trashed with litter and no descent bathrooms. Not a place to spend the day with junkies. Don't let children run around without shoes
The park is very nice overall .. however, the very underused (1 bike per 25 cars ratio) full-lane wide bike path that stole the northbound right lane of Nato Parkway greatly congests traffic.
