Reviews of REI
Pros: it’s an REI! The vibe is excellent, the employees are kind and very helpful, the selection and prices are great, you’ll always be able to find high quality products for all your outdoor needs.
Cons: There isn’t free parking (as far as I’m aware), and there were a lot of customers per employee, so it took a bit to be able to ask a question.
Love this local REI! It’s two stories and has a lot of great stuff in stock. In winter they’ve got a great amount of snow gear.
I’ve come here for backpacking, biking and yoga supplies as well
They even have a rock wall to test out rock climbing shoes
They have an amazing supply of sneakers sandals and boots
Friendly staff and very knowledgeable about all the supplies.
REI in Portland, Oregon. Geo is an absolutely fantastic sales assistant, he spent time with me, instructing me, giving me exactly what I needed to complete my mission. He genuinely cares for my comfort and success. Co-workers did complain that he was working with me too much as they felt they had inadequate coverage for the day. If not for this man, i couldve hurt myself as my gear was improperly stowed and too heavy to walk the US for a year! His expertise and vast knowledge brought my gear weight down from 61lbs to 38lbs with food and water. All this during my 4 hour Portland layover. Geo is truely an REI asset! This person is the real deal! Never let him go REI!!!
It's the outdoor community type of store.
REI is the must stop if you are an outdoor enthusiasts.
I like to visit REI for backpacking/ hiking, camping & inclement weather gear head to toes.
Great REI with an incredible staff, especially Geo from the Backpacking section who spent an extended amount of time fitting my wife and I for backpacks. His detailed expertise, patient guidance, and sense of humor helped us find the perfect fit. It was like taking a class on backpacking. We left not only with confidence we had the right packs, but an understanding of how to fit, adjust, and trouble shoot them ourselves. Strongly recommend heading here for your backpacking needs!
I've been coming to this REI for a number of years. While the staff is always very helpful and friendly, I had such a great experience recently I had to write a review.
While shopping for a new backpack, I pressed the button for assistance to get a second opinion on my pack setup. A gentleman named Geo came over to help, and guided me to a better fitting bag, along with a ton of tips on how to perfect my fit and weight distribution. It was both fun and educational. He even followed up with an email to recap what we discussed.
Geo is a pro! Make sure to look him up if you're ever searching for a new backpacking bag.
I came in to get fitted for my first backpack and Geo was there to help. He patiently fitted me (I am super short) and explained in very thorough and easily understandable directions the best way to tighten all my straps. This was so I could have an enjoyable time backpacking instead of having screaming shoulder pain. I feel more confident about my pack and how to wear it . Geo is excellent at fitting backpacks and I feel so fortunate to have made his acquaintance.
I came in thinking I would get a backpack and if it didn't work out, I would return it. I feel now that there will probably be no need to return it after using it because Geo took the time to make sure I had the correct pack for my size.
Nate in the bike service department was super helpful in getting my son's bicycle fixed. He went above and beyond with finding the best solution for getting the bike in working order, including the repair, finding the right parts, and fixing everything same day so my son could get out and ride again asap. It ended up taking more time than expected but Nate was really patient and always had a smile on his face. My son never got bored waiting because Nate was happy to have him watch, answer his questions, and explain to him everything he was doing. We will be sure to bring our bikes here for service in the future!
First time in an REI so maybe friendliness is their shtick? Either way, it felt sincere and I typically prefer undisturbed shopping, however, my personal experience buying new (vegan) hiking boots left me feeling like I gained a new friend. I had a rough morning on this particular day and Jesse turned it right around when he offered his product knowledge and outgoing personality to help me make the best choice for my feet. If Jesse isn’t actually an undercover boss, he should be strongly considered for a leadership role within REI.. Thanks for your recommendation’s! The boots and I have had a fantastic time so far!
Customer service is spot on! It’s a beautiful store. However I have my dogs with me most of the time but they don’t allow dogs. So typically if I need something that I could buy at REI, I have to go down the block to US Outdoors.
Great place! The staff is superb and helpful. Michael v. Was great helping me find shoes . Highly recommended but a bit pricey since their stock is usually higher end and durable.
Very good store with free parking in Portland and helpful store assistants that help choosing and fitting gear for adventures.
I was fortunate to have Geo help me in sizing a perfect backpack to fit me and choose other gear for backpacking.
A great store for all your outdoor gear. Knowledgeable staff willing to help and answer questions .
If you're ever in Portland and need to get your camping gear needs met, this is the place. Go to customer service an employee etc ask for Geo.
He will get you squared away extremely knowledgeable and patient. Pay that man!
This place has everything an outdoor person can ask for. So much backpacking equipment, skiing equipment, camping goods, hiking boots, kids outdoor equipment and cloths, warm weather gear and summer gear. Lots of sales associates to help and always quick check out time.
Had a great experience at this store replacing backpacking equipment that had been stolen. Geo was amazing and provided excellent customer service, going above and beyond to find a great fitting backpack, taking time to teach me necessary skills, and even recommending some better replacement equipment than what I had gotten. Great experience, happy with the gear I got!
REI always has great gear. I hope to get my next kids paddleboard from here to test on my Easysuprack.
Geo helped me with a new pack fitting. After watching him help the customer before me, I knew I was going to learn a few things while getting my new pack completely dialed in. Turns out I have been wearing the wrong size pack all these years, and not properly adjusted, either! I left happy and took my new found knowledge home and immediately went through and readjusted my old packs. What a difference that made! Thanks again Geo!
Lots of staff but it seemed like lots of trainees and few knowledgeable employees available to help simply find and purchase some parts I ordered through the bike service shop. At least everybody was nice about it and genuinely was trying to help. What seemed like a simple 5 minute or less task took over 15-20 minutes.
I love this place. Great selection of items and a great return policy of things don't work out.
They also have a miniscule selection of returned items for sale there in terms of footwear when I went. Scored some sandals since I forgot mine in Los Angeles.
There is free parking in a garage attached to the store. The employees are more than helpful. John and Jerra have gone beyond expectations in order to provide elite customer service.Every time I come to this location whether its the bike shop or shoes, there is always someone happy to help.Thank you!
Shopping in REI always feels like a fun adventure itself and this one is no exception. People say Portland is a heaven for outdoor enthusiasts and this REI definitely reflects that. Besides the usual hiking, camping, cycling stuff, there are also sections for water sports and snow sports, that's cool.
Just moved here from Mississippi and I'm in love with REI! Membership was $30 but I received $20 off my next purchase. Great selection of On shoes! I also picked up a collapsible water bowl for the pups and a picnic blanket with a water resistant bottom. Great service and selection!!
REI is great. Most people know by now that they sell great gear and they back it up with a great return policy. There are two things about REI that not everyone might know. First, they treat their employees well for a retail establishment. Second, their bike repair shop is a steal-so much cheaper than competitors!
Purchased new bike shoes and peddles. The service was absolutely stellar! & The products top notch
We live next to a different REI and drive to this location because Geo is so knowledgeable. He goes above and beyond in every situation we have had with him. He truly cares about teaching others, finding the right gear for the right person. We had serious back pain with our child carrier. He not only helped us find the right bag, took the time to show me how to set it to my body and make our daughter more comfortable too. When we bought sleeping bags a couple years ago, it was the same scenario. He showed us proper care & took us through each step. I hope the owners know what kind of quality employee they have in him.
They had exactly what I needed. No line for checking out. Very friendly employees. Definitely a must go to if you need anything for hiking all the way to biking or stuff for your dog to keep them safe while in the outdoors.
Return was quick even though the line was about 50 customers deep. They had plenty of staff that made line go quickly.
To REI,
Please chill a bit out of pushing ppl to join your membership. I understand you guys have a nice stuff and friendly service, but why are you so pushy on customer who doesn’t wanna have a any more membership thing in this modern world?? If you don’t like us non member so much, please just say the shopping is only for members. Then I’ll decided if I wanna shop there more. Jeez. Every time you guys leave a bad taste in my mouth. Plus, I don’t really understand the concept of coop because of where I’m from. It looks no different than any other expensive sporting store. In fact, you guys are more expensive than other store for a same item. Like Wholefood or New Seasons Market. I respect you have a belief in your organization, but please respect customers with different beliefs as well. Sigh, you’d not care.
Edit: I’m giving one more star because a product I got here today really worked like a charm. They usually don’t have much selections for my taste, but it’s a good store, besides the annoying membership applying pressure.
My favorite store. I always find everything I need and more. And the service is excellent!
Mackenzie was super friendly upstairs helping my partner and I out with Altra shoes. Super kind and super helpful despite how busy it was in the store. Would be more than happy to return to work with Mackenzie again.
Love the quality shopping experience.
I came to look at jogging strollers, and mistakenly thought that they have some to look at in person after I had called ahead to see what they have in stock. Sounds like they don't usually have any available to see on the floor. But the associate was super kind and patient, brought out a Thule stroller brand new in the box to look at, and even offered to fully assemble it so I could test it out. I really appreciated the help! They have a great full year return policy as well and always a nice selection of the most premium outdoor gear you can find.
Purchased a cargo hauler in the fall of last year and finally got to try it out on a 2 week road trip. The item was perfect. I'm giving 3 stars because the sales clerk that helped me was condescending and made it an uncomfortable transaction for me. Should have just gone online but was already in the area.
Customer service at its finest.
Came in looking to purchase a small tent for my Girlfriend and I. We had a lower budget of under $200. We knew that there were better options and that we weren’t going to get something crazy nice. But wow were we surprised!
The associate that assisted in helping us find the right tent was very considerate about our budget and made us feel like we belonged! They didn’t try to upsell or show us something we couldn’t afford.
We received an amazing tent that fit all of our needs and we’re treated very well! Even if you don’t have $6,000 to drop on outdoor equipment, just come look around. You will be surprised at some of the values you can find!
Bought my Arc’teryx rainproof jacket here & became a member. I was promptly assisted with the entire shopping experience by Ronnie and was even told “don’t mention it.” Well, I’m mentioning it…& I’d go back. 🤙🏼 …
Everyone was very kind when approached with questions. I personally use crutches to walk so every employee was more than willing to help hold my products and deliver them to the register till I was done.
Update: took my bike in and they quickly reviewed the bike and what needs to be done. Immediately they took the bike to start repairs for a pick up of 2-3 days later. Fairly priced! Especially if you're a member.
Had a flat and took my bike in. Kirby was very knowledgeable as well as helpful. Would recommend.
This is a good store with very good vibes and excellent customer service.
Items are on the expensive side.
Ahhh! What a blessed experience. I didn’t think I could go to a general specialty shop and be treated with such tender love and care. Erol, Reza, Eden AMAZING. And there was one other over the moon amazing fella in the department at the top level on close to the shoes and mysterious employee room areas… I can’t recall his name but he had short brown hair and glasses. (Sorry so vague a description.) He spend so much kindness to help us find exactly what we needed and forfeited the Sing Up to the first person we spoke to, who was also stellar (Erol.) I wrote these names down because I knew I’d forget. And it’s a shame I can’t recall his name. Because they literally kick a$$. Overall service experience for the trip was 1,000/100. And lastly so proud of the company for their employee rewards incentives, level of care for working class, and the “garage sale” options helping reduce reuse recycle. I hope my understanding of the company is a true as I understand it to be.
Please keep lifting your employees up because they surely reciprocate that unto the entire environment as a whole.
Blessings.
— Kymil 🥳 (Purchase made under “Saul.” They also agree! Heheh.)
One could get carried away in here!
Although a quite pricey place, their sales are great and clearance even better. I scored a nice breathable rain jacket for $29!
Workers were very kind and each one that came in to my vicinity asked how I was doing or if I needed help with anything. Which was nice considering how big the place is, I wouldn't have had to go far if I had needed help
:)
This location is ALWAYS busy! But we got the help we needed and found what we were after. A successful trip, took one hiking pack home and ordered another online to get the size we needed.
Normally I don’t write reviews but so many complain and no one compliments anyone. I want to give a shout out to Zach z. He was so professional and honestly it blew my mind that I actually encountered a sales rep at a retail store that WANTED to help... he was super polite and friendly and let me exchange a hiking backpack I bought that was too small. I was initially somewhat concerned they wouldn’t let me swap it for another one but they did! Another guy helped me with the hiking bags and he was awesome as well. This is some impressive customer service. So many people get it wrong but REI does it right. I’d HIGHLY recommend shopping here for your outdoor stuff
employees are so nice. like are people in portland just the nicest or what??
very helpful, very happy, overall great experience at REI.
This store is nice but REI overall has high prices, and the products are not curated properly. The only products uniquely their own are the tents, which are better than competitors.
5 stars. Incredible service. Treasures galore. Incredible consistent awesome lifelong products. Amazing return policy. Great layout. Never a bad experience and have been shopping here for years.
You know when theres like 1 cashier ringing and three other employees right there talking (working im sure) and they look at you awkwardly and keep talking? Well not today, their employee actually helped me right then and there, ugh refreshing.
Stands out amidst the almost abrasive service I see in other companies' employees, and is much appreciated, obviously.
Always enjoy being here! But today Hailey made it especially enjoyable. I got the perfect Hoka shoes. And thanks to her I have many more prospects for the future! Thank you for all you do!
I like the bike staff a lot, but the service reached a breaking point today in regards to my derailleur. I've spent about.... 4-6 hours between driving over there, waiting in line and being patient, scheduling calls and appointments, and after 6 weeks, I still don't have a bike that can shift gears.
I did buy a separate wheel/tire/cassette combo there, and that was pretty effortless besides the tube going flat on me after 2 hours on the trainer (which resulted in another trip of coming in).
Maybe I have bad timing and bad luck for products.
Or maybe this is a place meant to get larger items both fixed, installed, and purchased. And these smaller cases are to detail centric to get accomplished.
Had a great experience at this REI today. The staff was wonderful and helpful. I was helped by Lindsay with hiking boots and she was very knowledgeable and helpful. She was attentive even though the store was busy and she was helping a lot of customers.
The size of the store and selection of products was great. They had plenty of options for the items I was looking for.
I would recommend this location to anyone else looking for outdoor equipment.
REI is a dangerous place for me, cause I love all aspects of outdoor activities. This day was simply shopping for some new minimalist shoes. The Merrell Trailglove 6 is my go to and at $100 bucks minus my member dividend I walked out with a new set of kicks for under $50. Always feels good to shop here as they support many of the same access causes that I feel are important.
I just bought a Gregory Jade 63 backpack for an upcoming trip. Rachel at the NW Portland store spent close to an hour fitting me and then helping me pick out and try several contenders. This is the beauty I left with, which was also her first recommendation. Thanks, great job! 👍🏽 …
Great quality merchandise and helpful employees. I needed an air mattress for everyday home use and their employee recommended an EXPED MEGAMAT over the other options I was considering. After 5 years, I have to say it's one of the best purchases I've ever made in terms of comfort and durability. Same story with hiking shoes that I wear every day. I also enjoy the conversations I have with their staff about simple things like Permethrin vs. DEET. REI's one year return policy is not only a reflection of their good customer service, but I think it means that they pre-select quality merchandise for longer term use and satisfaction. Special thanks for Fox who went Above and Beyond to resolve a recent customer service issue.
What do I need to say? Great store! Lots of great camping gear! My wife got a smoking deal yesterday! They were running a shoe sale and she got snow boots and hiking boots, both high end brand names, for $50 total! I couldn't believe it! We need to check for sales there more often.
Disappointing Service
Walked into the store and was interested in an item, asked the associate if the piece came in other colors. He answers that it "probably comes in the typical colors like white and black".
I ask for the price, he calls over to another employee if they happen to know the price.
I ask what "lifetime garantee" means, they say I could look that up under "Customer Service".
Man! Why put employees in the store if they are just totally unwilling to help with anything????
I love REI, and this is no exception. Great people, friendly and helpful. Had a few questions that had to be dug up from inventory, got what we needed quickly, really nice people here
Was here for hours picking out a good hiking pack. All the staff were so patient and understanding, working with us to size our different packs. You won't receive personalized attention like this to pick out gear at other outdoor equipment stores.
Its really a great place to get anything for camping, hiking, biking, walking, running and so much more. The employees know what they are talking about because they actually do all this outdoors stuff too. The quality of the products are great and REI stands by what they sell.
Excellent experience! I went in to buy a pair of ski boots, I was helped by Kali (not sure about spelling) and Pierre. They were both really easy to talk to. I didn't plan on trying many boots on, but Pierre was insistent on finding the right pair. I would recommend this team for finding the right boots, which isn't easy to do! Also, try to get in when it's not too busy ;)
Outdoor window for my online order made my pick-up easy.
Free parking was also nice.
There was a short line for people waiting to shop in-store(to maintain a safe distance inside for shoppers), but no line for order pick-up, so I had a quick & easy experience.
Great visit to Portland REI. The staff at the door was very helpful. The store was not crowded and felt very safe and clean. A very helpful staff member named Geo spent lots of time helping me fit a backpack, answering many questions and making additional backpacking gear recommendations. Will return!
So right now is a great time to go to REI! They are banning a HUGE labor day sale and lifetime memberships are basically free!! Also these folk are fin, friendly and SUPER knowledgeable about their gear. Best place to Gear up to get outdoors
REI is doing a great job with managing the Covid 19 situation. I appreciated that they sanitized the shoe-try stations and limited customers to only those customers that are currently at a station and working directly with a sales person. I also noticed downstairs that they had very good sales associate coverage. You don't spend much time looking at a given section without being offered assistance. Good job REI!
I had a great experience at this store today. The associate who helped me, Stacey, was awesome! She took lots of time to help me find a backpack that fit well and gave me lots of great advice about other stuff too. I'm fairly new to buying gear and she was super nice and helpful and made my purchase and shopping trip much easier than I'd expected. I've had other positive experiences at this store as well.
Had an amazing experience! Tried on a pair of shoes, but wanted to try a bigger size. Initially I was informed that they didn’t have the size I had wanted. The gentleman that was helping us ended up finding the size a few minutes later and came and found us in the store before we walked out so that I could try them on.
Excellent customer service! Thank you, and a big shout out to Doug (the man who helped us)! I appreciate you going above and beyond.
I like and dis like shopping online so it's great to go to the physical store and put hands on the product you see on the web. No guarantee that it will be in stock but normally they'll have something very similar. My trip today was as such, they had two items I wanted and one not in stock but I found another lantern similar to the first in all respects. Great place to also browse around also, found a Helinox chair I've been meaning to buy forever now and snagged that as well. Very helpful staff
This REI is a good one. Quite large with an excellent selection of gear. The staff is generally knowledgeable, and I've found the folks in the climbing department particularly helpful with ice axes, climbing shoes, and rope. The garage sales are well managed and well staffed (and still offer some good finds!) and their classes are well done. It can get really busy on sale days but they are good about opening all the registers (of which there are many) and the employees are consistently super friendly even when they are clearly being bombarded with customers. Customer service has always been great for returns and online pickups too. For your biking, climbing, camping, outdoor needs - a good choice.
Way better than a lot of outdoor sports stores. Huge selecting and great deals plus I walked in to buy a north face hat and walked out with a new hardtail Mountain bike🤣🤣. …
Large REI with well stocked shelves! Friendly staff!
So many things I wanted to buy! But the Hoka shoes I needed were in stock and I was able to get those! The friendliness of the staff put a cherry on top of the experience.
Always impressed by the help we get here. Went in to buy our first pair of skiis/boots and were fairly clueless regarding the details. The team at REI was extremely helpful and walked us through every detail. Wwe learned a lot and feel that we ended up with good equipment. Highly recommend.
Great business! Well stocked, well informed friendly people and a more-than-fair return policy. While you may get the commodity items cheaper elsewhere, the big stuff is reasonable if you factor in the value of knowledgeable staff and the annual rebate.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I was looking for a Northwest Forest Pass but they were sold out due to such high demand - they referred me to a ranger station near where I was going along with a couple nearby competitors who also sold the passes. I really appreciate that they care enough to help out potential customers even if it means not getting an actual purchase in the short term. I'll definitely be back here again!
Stock levels never match with the website. Even for things locked up in cabinets or off the ship floor. I will not return to this store but head to the Clackamas store to see if it is better.
Love this REI. There's also a free parking garage attached.
Awesome selection and knowledgeable staff. Jackie was amazing helping me choose a backpack, thanks for all the advice and help.
REI is hit and miss for employee knowledge and customer service, which seems to pretty much always be the case in large stores with a fair portion of seasonal employees.
That being said, I want to give a HUGE thank you to Zach (working behind the customer service desk this afternoon). He knows his stuff, was super patient and easygoing in what I’m sure can sometimes be a thankless position, completely respected my own experience, and went above and beyond in helping me out.
Clean, well organized place. The staff are generally helpful. They are great with exchanges. I brought back a pair of hiking boots my sister told me were too small for me (apparently you need one size up for real hiking). I had already wore them a few times so wasn't expecting anything but they exchanged them free of charge!
Customer service!! 5 stars, no doubt! I bought a pair of climbing shoes 9 months ago (in Nevada) and they never stretched like I thought they would. As a result they still were far too tight even after many uses. I came in today with just the receipt and the shoes; the original box got thrown away by accident. Not only did they let me return them, they got me the exact same shoe in a half size bigger. No questions asked, no hassle. I was shocked that their return policy was so generous! The staff were friendly and the store was very well organized. I'll gladly be returning here for my other outdoor gear needs.
This particular REI store is great. All REI stores carry a nice variety of outdoor equipment to meet your needs and they all support REI's outstanding warranty. This one has all of the typical REI offerings and also has a number of helpful staff. I've never had a bad experience and the staff are always willing to help and provide feedback to your questions. This store offers equipment rentals and outdoor classes for you to level up your outdoor game.
If I had one suggestion for an improvement, it would be to increase the amount of available space where the quarterly garage sale is held. It's a popular event, with lots of people and gear and it gets crowded. Other than that, it is a great time.
Every employee I have ever had spoken to was very knowledgeable and super nice. I've never felt judged shopping there.
They have a rock you can walk around on to try out the fit of your shoes/boots. A membership is only $20 for life!
I went to the garage sale today and scored a $113 pair of boots for $14.
If you like outdoor activities, here is the place to find what you want.
I love rei and normally shop there all the time but, I refuse to wait an hour in line to get in the door just to pick up a prepaid online order. If they don't start offering curbside pickup or have a line outside for pickup orders then I will won't be shopping there this year at all because I also refuse to pay $10 in shipping for $40 worth of stuff at a time.
I just cancelled my order and went to Amazon unfortunately.
REI is a staple source for outdoor gear, and is staffed by friendly people who will always go the extra mile to help customers. I'm grateful to everyone there who's ever helped me find something in the back, or given me good advice on an alternative to the item on my list.
A little of everything but they tend to have more apparel than gear selection. The staff is hit or miss in knowledge, but always polite and try to help. Just not always as knowledgeable about outdoor gear as you would expect. There has been occasion when I have overhead an employee giving bad or wrong info. A step above a big box sporting goods. If your looking for good advice on gear decisions your more likely to find it at your local gear shop than at REI. If you know what you need and the price is right REI has a great return policy.
GREAT service. The staff is knowledgeable, available and friendly. Although I am active, I am not a typical outdoorsy super fit person who shops at REI. I still received gold-star customer service. I only wish they had more stores locations.
Love REI! Just used my dividend for my baby's first bike helmet! Beyond exciting to get him behind my bike in a trailer. Love REI for all my camping, cycling and hiking needs! Always friendly staff, and fun to look around. Only giving 4 stars because of their changes to their return policy over the last couple years
Great place to shop for outdoor gear. I bought a day pack today and got just what I was looking for. Very knowledgeable and helpful employees.
Really great experience! I had been fitted with the wrong size ski boots last year, and Leah diagnosed the issue right away. She found equivalent ski boots in my correct size and took the time to make sure the fit was right. In addition, she showed me the proper insole that would work best for my arch. I was able to easily exchange the boots and am now looking forward to shredding the gnar in my new kicks!
Bought a rain jacket on clearance for $100 less than the Arcteryx store had it listed at, and the cashier rang up the non-clearance tag on the item. I didn’t notice the discrepancy because of the fact that my toddler was having a total meltdown and I was just trying to get out of the store as soon as possible. Checked my e-receipt while boarding my flight and realized the error. An REI rep named Chevette and the store manager of this location fixed everything for me. Really solid customer service. Thank you from Oman!
The NW Portland store is my baby. REI's Brand of rolling luggage is Super Duper !
I paid 250.00 for 400.00 quality. Best selection of Osprey
Parking sucks horribly, and if my past seven visits they've been out of stock of everything I've ever looked for. Kind of a waste of time visiting just shop online. Then return to store if they don't meet your needs.
I am not generally a huge fan of REI, but I do love this particular location. The service is always super friendly and helpful. They have great sales from time to time, particularly the used gear sale where you can get some great stuff for almost nothing. be prepared to wait in line though!
I am positively phobic about shopping and hate it with a passion, but my well-used hiking boots of 15 years needed replacing so shopping I was forced to go! I called and spoke with a compassionate young man, Billy, who though incredulous at first over my issues with shopping, but soon compassionate and eager to find me a solution, made arrangements for a veteran of footwear to meet with me one on one. The next morning, Anne Galle, spent -I kid you not- over three solid hours helping me try on and assess various boots. She was a trooper! She was endlessly kind and patient and used her over 20 years of experience to help me identify what I needed in a boot and what my priorities were in making a selection. She endured and thought outside of the box and did searches on her phone and explained. She is nothing short of amazing!! Zack, also in footwear, came by several times to offer encouraging support and stories about his Mom and her search for another pair of hiking boots after 15 long beloved years. After boots, Anne and I shopped for hiking poles, then Buffy's, and then this goddess angel sent from God above rung up my purchases and WALKED me to my car in the adjacent parking structure. We stood there and talked and made plans to get a beer my next trip in. I am telling you, the REI in Portland hires good peeps. I cannot recommend a store more highly and I am even -if somewhat modestly- anticipating my next trip in, because I need a new tent! LOL
I love REI. The staff is always so knowledgable and very helpful. Pierre stayed with me close to about 45 minutes, assisting me with bike gear specific to cold and wet weather. REI also has a huge variety that I'm grateful for.
Love, love, love REI! Sale people are extremely helpful and focus not in selling the product, but in helping the consumer find the best product that it needed. Their return policy is easy. I have shopped there for over 20 years and highly recommend REI.
Even with no plans of buying anything, I go in here all the time just to ogle the wide variety of gear, clothing and anything outdoors. When I do find myself in need of something, however, I've had nothing but excellent experience with the REI staff. Whether it's shoes, backpacks, bikes, camping, etc..., they always seem to be expertly informed and equipped to answer any questions you may have. The only con is that on busier days (beginning/end of sales) they get a bit understaffed and it can take a while until you get someone's attention.
Great store, very helpful and knowledgeable staff, and we got lucky enough to find the perfect shoes at an excellent price! Score another win for REI!
Need better instructions on where to pick up orders. Such as, "Go to the 14th street entrance where you'll meet an REI associate who will retrieve your order. Curbside service is not available at this location."
This is the best REI in Portland. They have a very good seasonal selection and a surprising variety of products for the seemingly compact space the store occupies.
There is onsite parking available to REI customers in an attached garage so don't let the fear of not being able to find a parking spot deter you. It is a little snug though, so prepare to be courteous.
Great selection, great staff.
Great customer service! They really helped me with my ski boots. I had taken them to 2 other ski shops to correct the fit and they were the only ones knowledgable enough to get it right
Recently my wife and I decided to get into Alpine Touring. Many friends advised that getting the right boots was the most important step. We stopped in your store to see what we could learn. Pierre was in the ski section. We described our plans and off we went. It was three hours later when we both were fitted. During that time Pierre helped other customers find what they needed or politely found someone else to help them. Pierre was a font of knowledge; he had obviously had a lot of skiing experience and a good bit of training in fitting AT Boots. He was very polite, patient and professional and was excited to get us fit in the right boots as we were! .
He had his work cut out for me as I have "Fred Flintstone" feet and they don't pair well with narrow hard shelled ski boots. It took trying on multiple pairs of boots, sock and insole adjustments and two "bakings" of the inserts with pads, until they were just right! When I said that they fit his smile was as big a s mine.
It is great to be served by someone so intent on great service! It was literally the best sales experience I have ever had in my 50 plus years. I hope I bring the same passion and professionalism to what I do!
Thanks So Much Pierre! Thanks RIE for hiring such good folks! Give that guy a raise!
Diane was so amazing and helpful when I was trying to buy a hiking backpack, she helped me go through all the different options and made sure everything feels right before I picked the perfect one for me!
I've been coming to this store for years and have always had a great experience. They have a good selection of clothing, footwear, camping equipment, maps, and cycling gear. I can pop in and grab what I need for a quick trip, or take my time and browse during a longer trip.
REI is a little overpriced - but they have every right to be as they are pretty much a one-of-a-kind one-stop-shop for anybody who has literally any physical activity as a hobby. Bikes, hikes, camping, and the like - they do it all. My most recent purchases include 2 Eagle Creek travel bags for our 3 month overseas trip, Columbia Sportswear shorts and a shirt, and walking sticks for a Mother's Day gift. I love this place.
Very helpful staff, and there was a lot of them to answer questions while shopping.
Thanks to Reid at this REI location and my caring neighbor, I was able to get my stolen REI bike back. Thanks for the awesome and responsive customer service!
Excellent. Twice, someone there helped me to fix my hiking poles. The 2nd time, it was a used gear garage sale item. Still, I was provided a missing piece and it was installed for me free of charge. Despite of how busy the store was, customers were attended promptly. Thank you!
It's a great outdoor place!
Plus, they have a lot of very nice outdoor stuff.
Plus, the customer service is great!
The biggest and best REI I have ever been to! Very helpful staff in helping us in our rather interesting situation. Biggest selection of gear, so you will definitely find anything and everything you could possibly need on whatever adventure you are planning.
These guys are so helpful! I came in there the other day looking for a road bike and got all my expectations met in the price range I wanted to spend! The clerk there was knowledgeable and understood what I was looking for in a bike, and showed me a Scott Carbon Fiber road bike.
Now, its been a week and the bike is everything I wanted. Easy to ride, balance and light weight. Not disappointed in my purchase, and absolutely no buyers remorse!
I think i'll come back for a roof rack. :)
Great store, super friendly staff. Lots of interesting things to look at. Great gear you didn't know existed and lots of things you already knew about but didn't know you need. There are cheaper prices available but you get what you pay for. Sometimes you can find things here on sale. You always got to pick and Shop as a consumer! I definitely recommend checking out REI
Huge shoutout to Mike at the bike shop! Spent at least 30 mins with me explaining everything to someone who doesn’t know bikes very well, and making sure I knew exactly what repairs were necessary and was extra or could be dealt with later. Once he knew I just moved from Texas, he then proceeded to tell me all kinds of knowledge that I wouldn’t know about biking up here. Not sure about pricing but seems to be pretty on-par with other bike shop ads I’ve seen and I’m very pleased with their work. Not to mention that it all goes towards your REI member dividend!
This location is the best in PDX for sure. It's two story and has a huge selection of clothing, shoes and anything outdoor related. The only downside is I had really poor service here. I went in specifically to buy a pair of shoes and I couldn't get anyone to help me. Two associates walked by me several times without an offer to help. When I asked for my size, one of the associates acted like I was annoying her. This isn't usually my experience with REI but this location isn't the best unless you need zero assistance.
Friendly and helpful staff, but it might take a little bit before you get someone who really knows the stuff. Their return policy keeps you safe, in case you don't like what you've bought. They also offer free parking in a parking garage.
Nice store, Easy online pickup outside, parking is ok but you have to pay, friendly staff and good selection. I had been searching for an MSR dragonfly.
Great store! Good selection of outdoor gear and decent prices and specials. The staff is always very helpful.
Rei is cool and all but y’all need to figure out your online order pickups during COVID times. What’s the point of ordering online for pickup if I still have to wait in line for an hour? Make an online order pickup line separate of the regular shoppers and staff it, it’s not hard. Kthx.
I come here all the time, especially on days when I would never shop elsewhere. I have been here on Black Friday, but with the size of the store, the crowd size is manageable when you are in. Also the parking structure and surrounding areas offer plenty of places to park if you don't live in the area. Talk to the staff about anything in Portland and appropriate gear and they will be able to help you.
Great REI facility and right in the Pearl district. If you are into the Northwest great outdoors then this is the place to get what you need. Their sales are fabulous, definitely the time to purchase the higher end and big ticket items.
Superior camp store with a great return policy. Staff were so quick, kind, and helpful! True every time I come
I can have my order set to the store which is within 5 miles from my house....for free. No worries about someone stealing the package on my porch. Returns are a breeze. It isn't the most perfect store, but really who is 100% of the time? It is one of my 'go to' stores.
Awesome climbing wall and a great selection of outdoor/exercise gear. They also do equipment rentals!!
Be careful with the parking lot, there have been some break-ins. Every month they have a bunch of awesome classes and activities, make sure to check out the events board or online!
Still outstanding service. Seems like a lot of places change as they get big and the customer starts paying more $ for less. The REI co-op equipment is really becoming excellent, top line gear.
If you need outdoor gear, REI is a one stop shop. The PDX location has a great selection of quality made clothing and gear. As an added bonus make sure you hit the clearance rack. Tons of great deals stashed here. If you are a co-op member, the clearance items do not count towards your yearly dividend check. While this is a bit of a bummer, the discount makes up for it.
The one thing that seems to be a common practice throughout all of the REI stores I've visited, for some mysterious reason the staff has an inability to fold clothing before putting it into the bag. A minor irritation.
Visited this REI on my way through to the Columbia River Gorge. I was purchasing a new sleeping bag and the woman helping me was extremely helpful! I love the consistency of the employees and products among all REI's.
Hard to say anything new about REI. They carry what you need AND what you want, but sometimes what you thought you wanted wasn't what you needed. I purchased a camp stove almost two years ago and for the first year, it just sat in a box until my old one FINALLY gave out. A few months ago, I pulled out the new (almost 2 year old) stove for recent camping trips, and it was actually defective.
I went back to REI and by simply looking up my membership number (phone number), they were able to see when I bought it (10/2015) and howuch I paid ($109) and even though they didn't have a direct replacement (item now discontinued), I was able to get a DIRECT VALUE replacement!!! So, I walked over to the dept and pulled a brand new stove off the shelf.
Mind you, it wasn't a "no questions asked" encounter as my stove WAS purchased well outside their "365 day return window." But, by looking at my PURCHASE history vs my RETURN history, I was able to demonstrate that I wasn't one of those "buy it, use it, return it" people. So, they quite literally, did what they needed to do to make me a happy camper!
Can't say enough good things about a national business that still treats custoners the way a small business would/should!
Thanks, REI!
REI is amazing. If you enjoy exploring the Pacific Northwest, you will need supplies. REI has you covered for your outdoor apparel and products needs. This location is very convenient with parking in NW Portland. The REI team members are always incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Most of the REI team members are avid outdoor enthusiasts with first hand product knowledge.
Great store if someone else is paying. Great selection and quality, but if you want good prices, you'd be better off at the Mountain Store or Andy and Bax on the east side. Sometimes there are good sales, however.
Staff is very helpful, although they often try to upsell you. There can be a wait to pay.
A two floor, fully stocked, outdoors store where everyone actually knows what they are talking about. You can reference hikes or recreation sites in the area to gauge your merch buys, and nine times out of ten, the employees will know what they're talking about! This location is always hustling and bustling due to the outdoorsy nature of the city, but service is always quick and helpful.
REI used to be such a great store with great prices. Now it is outrageously expensive. Every last item comes at a premium. They do have a good selection and most of their lineup is well made. That said, you can find the exact same items at local stores for a lot less. If you're in PDX try Next Adventure.
Great place for outdoor goods. They carry top brands and quality products. The advantage of shopping here vs online is their return policy. No hassles at any point and most of their products last a lifetime.
Great service from Michael (C?) in shoes.
Busy Memorial Day Friday. Long lines but they had all registers open and it went fast. Typical outdoor offerings you would expect to find. Did have local Chrome bike messenger bags. Good job keeping the lines moving!
This REI is the best. I went in to exchange a jacket because I bought the wrong size and they took care of me so fast. No fuss, they just got my information and shipped the new size.
Just bought a TRX to train for an instructor course with NOLS and I’m super stoked to finally one of my own. I’ll also be using it to create content for Jaybird Sport which will be fun. Glad I had the chance to have surfin hottie Douglas at the register ;) Find me on Instagram to follow along with my training
This review is long overdue! I was looking for a pack to go backpacking with and Mariah was so helpful. She was patient, made sure that it fit correctly, and that it felt right. Thank you for going above and beyond for me! Next time I will have to check out the Bromptons :)
When my rain jacket began leaking, even though it was 2 years old, they took it as a return because of the wear on the inner lining. The clerks helped me find what I wanted, even though they were busy. I am friendly and kind to clerks - they have a rough job at times, and I never have a problem.
Friendly, informative, attentive. These workers really focus in on whatever your outdoor needs are. You won’t be pressured into the most expensive options, and you won’t walk away disappointed with your gear. Special shoutout to Danielle in the shoe department. Everyone is top notch but she takes it to the highest of altitude. My feet thank you Danielle :)
Very convenient location for me after getting off work. Staff are usually there to help you. If not, ask a cashier and they will be sure to point you in the right direction.
There is a wide selection of different tools and accessories for your outdoor adventures. Upstairs is almost all clothing and shoes. While downstairs is where you will find camping gear, bikes, trekking poles, freeze dried food et. al. Nothing I couldn't find here. Prices sometimes are a bit higher than elsewhere but membership does have its perks. 10% member dividend (like cashback) that you need to factor in when bargain shopping.
Store is kept clean and tidy with nothing out of place.
Best REI in town. We'll stocked. Free parking.
I experienced some of the best service of my life here at the bike shop and cannot recommend it enough. I'd received a poor tune up and follow-up adjustment at REI Clackamas, so when my bike still was not riding properly, I decided to try the REI on NW Johnson. The guys were more helpful than I could ever have dreamed. They took 20-30 minutes adjusting my gears, took it out for a test ride, and put a new chain on for me when the shifting still wasn't perfect. All of this at no cost to me. Awesome.
Friendly staff and nice displays!
love that they always have things in stock and helpful staff to provide insight
It's a nice store. There are less racks so customers have more room to walk around during covid. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable.
Great place to find all the quality outdoor gear, clothes, shoes, equipment you'll ever need. Great staff. Efficiently run. Rewards program is awesome. They even have parking!
My favorite sporting goods store in Portland, with an excellent selection of everything from ski shoes to canoes. Even better, it is a Co-op, meaning for a one-time $20 you become a member, and get dividends on your purchases. Staff is knowlegeable and helpful, and everything is generally well-stocked, though the checkout line can be long when the weather is nice!
Friendly and helpful people around every corner. Been a member for a while! Gear rental is my next experiment.
This REI is only ok. I felt it is a little small given how big the area it serves is. They have quality products at good prices. The staff is really wonderful and i doubt you will be disappointed. I just wish it was more like the flagship store in Seattle.
LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP......SUPER CHEAP BIKE REPAIR & FAST.
The staff is always so nice, and lubes me up for FREE.
Thanks you!!!!!!
Staff is super helpful and warm everytime. Even returns have been smooth sailing. My go to for my bike commuter supplies and I love the dividends lolz.
Five stars for not allowing the person below to shop without a mask covering their nose, in addition to being a great store with a great business model all around. Love rei!
I know that everything I buy at REI has durable quality. Plus, the salespeople can always tell what will fit me and recommend exactly what I need for whatever activity.
I bought one of my favorite jackets here! Be sure to give yourself extra time though, as the lines can get long. It's a popular place, after all.
Well stocked outdoor store with knowable staff. You can check their we site to see if the store has what your looking for before traveling to the store.
They were surprisingly sold out of Columbia River Gorge maps and rain pants smaller than XL last time I was there. Otherwise it's an inviting place to check out the latest in freeze dried foods and solar powered tent gadgets and the staff usually walk right up and ask if they can help you find anything.
Always a little overwhelmed when I go in here and usually walk out with a bunch of stuff that I don't necessarily need for a short hike but you have to love REI.
Pro tip: Become a member. It's only $10 I believe and you get 1% back on all your purchases in the store + access to their members only sales.
REI is the best place to find any and all of your outdoor needs. This store is absolutely the best place to get whatever you want or need to have a great outdoor experience. I am a member and thanks to Janice I am going to have an excellent summer!!!
My preferred outdoor equipment store in Portland. Been going for years. I can always find a helpful sales associate and I can't recall any bad advice received.
went to look at 50 liter backpacks but didnot buy one. most packsare much to heavy empty.
Extra help to locate piece, told me about discount, looked up my membership when been gone from Oregon for 15 years. Fantastic..carried 20 pound box to car.
been a member for years. just had a great experience getting my ski boots fit with the manager of that area. great service
Great variety of quality outdoor gear. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Checkout lines and customer service lines can be long, so bring your be patience.
Great service. Check out the garage sale on the first floor. Some people return items because they simply didn't like it.
Wanted to thank Michael P. for being so helpful and friendly! Helped me find the perfect pack I was looking for. Thanks!
Came looking for a camping hat, Jonny helped us and gave amazing customer service :)
The employees were helpful and even asked if I knew anyone with a REI membership so I could use theirs. Customer satisfaction 10/10.
Parking is easy with the attached garage. The selection is impressive and the prices are what you would expect. Now's the perfect time to go and use your 20% off member coupon!
Always love some gear browsing. They keep it clean and sanitized there. Plus no tent cities, so you dont get hassled coming and going.
Service is hit or miss. I more often than not come away feeling like I was able to get what I needed, but sometimes I it's not the best. I am a fan of the store, though. Good selection of stuff. The place is always insane busy.
Great staff! Helped me get pedals and cleats, while sharing kind and funny stories about biking. Helpful and human
Always a great place to come and browse but I always end up with a couple things because I never know I need them till I see them hahaha
do you monitor parking lot? I parked 4th floor in the corner, street side for guest parking. when I push the remote to unlock the car after get out from elevator, homeless man popped out from drive side of my car, left just opened needle and other stuffs behind him on the ground and he rushed left the site but this man walk back to site as we drove down the parking lot. probably this happens open. you should regularly monitor!!
Lifetime member now that I shopped here. Custom fitted me for shoes at a competitive price, extremely generous return policy, the employees so far have been great.
So REI is pretty incredible. If you aren't very used to camping they will set you up very well. It is an expensive place, so if you know more you can find better deals somewhere else.
A little bit of everything out doors at prices that are, well, better bring the platinum visa.
Great control of numbers of people inside, sanitation, mask requirements, and maintaining distance. I ore-ordered online, and pick up was smooth and easy.
Very nice selection of outdoor items. They also have replacement parts for backpacks and other things which can come in handy. A bit expensive but sometimes there are good sales.
Good selection of outdoor equipment and recreational gear. Not a lot of bargains, but solid equipment aimed at the casual user.
The store is very huge with a wide variety of selection... I went to buy a pait of binoculars and am perfectly happy with the quality of the product as well as the customer satisfaction provided by REI
Super convenient location that also has off street parking in an attached garage. They've got an excellent selection, helpful staff, a very nice layout with two open floors and everyone should experience one of the used gear sales at least once in their life.
Needed to exchange an item I bought online. Found the replacement, proceeded to checkout. Was in and out in under 30 minutes.
We like REI. Good products at full retail price. Not a bargain store, but good customer service and no-pressure sales.
Friendly staff, cool gear
If you love outdoor equipment stores and are on the west side of Portland, REI in NW will probably have what you're looking for. Membership definitely has it's benefits.
Nice store, great people, parking in downtown Portland can be a challenge. Parking was the only reason I went to 4 stars
not always the cheapest, but good outdoor selection. membership is a must.
Showed up here during the midst of a Labor Day clearance sale in a pandemic year. Big lines all 'round, social distancing in full effect. They had it covered pretty well
Needed to return after two mishaps and am pleased to have met courteous and helpful Associates. Thank you for the service.
Helpful staff and generous return policy. I've been more willing to take a chance buying something here that might cost a bit more than elsewhere negate I know they stand behind their product.
One of my favorite stores. Great, quality gear, knowledgeable employees, free classes, garage sale can be a great find and good return policy!
They've got their COVID procedures nicely setup. It feels pretty safe and almost normal. Good job REI!
REI is one of the best outdoor stores around, and here they have good parking for being on the west side. The store is huge, and the employees are always very helpful.
This place has it all. Sometimes hard to get help because they are so busy. Only the best quality items are sold here so you know you will get the gear you need.
Friendly, helpful staff. Exchanged shoes I had bought at a different REI location without any problems.
Great customer service. Variety of supplies, unfortunately everything is made in China. Nothing like made in the USA. Maybe one day let's keep our hopes.
They had a spiny foot massager. The store design is nice. The store does attract Greenpeace activists.. typical granola-types.
Awesome store, staff, and selection. All you could hope for from a REI store!
Super good customer service!! Worth the 30+ mile trip to go to this store. Thank you for being so helpful.
Staff is helpful, if not a bit too hip. There are issues with the way the space is organized, mostly due to trying to cram as much stuff as possible into location?.
This store has so much more stuff than the clackamas store. It is huge. I love the warranty. One years returns for any reason!! Awesome!
The employee was super helpful. It was a great experience. All employees are helpful.
Pretty expensive and the staff is a bit snobby. A great place to stop and use the bathroom, as they are clean and you don't need a code to get in.
Got some climbing gear, the staff was super helpful and helped us get started. Appreciate the service and courtesy.
So much of everything anybody would need to have any kind of adventure you could imagine. A friendly and knowledgeable staff that is eager to help. We will definitely be back!
Great place to get your outdoor equipment, though they don't always keep everything stocked, and it can get crowded. If you really love the outdoors, this is probably the best place to blow your paycheck.
Great selection at this store, very friendly staff , I love their garage sales as well but you have to stand in line super early to get the best deal
If you're not a member, you should be. They have some pretty decent discounts. I'm not a huge fan of the service, but it's usually b/c they are busy.
Decades of shopping at the Portland REI with consistent excellence of the overall experience: high quality goodies to enhance outdoor activities.
I feel like writing a review is pointless. If you don't know what it is then you've been living under a rock. It's also just about as dumb as writing a review of 7-11.
I found people very helpful. However due to unclear price tag it created confusion at check out.
If you are looking for a new backpack talk with Geo!
Staff were very helpful, and the store has a LOT to offer all kinds of people. There is a car park round the back of the store, so super easy to park
Very helpful they really know there equipment they offer
Great store! They sell everything you need for your serious outdoor activities. Knowledgeable staff.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. They don't have the biggest selection of goods, so you might be stuck ordering your gear online.
Great store, with plenty of high quality inventory. Kind and helpful staff. A little expensive.
First time visiting this store and I enjoyed shopping here along with the customer service!
Like Cabela's, but is strictly outdoor camping, hiking and travel. Helpful knowledgeable staff. Gives back to the community and cherishes the northwest outdoors.
Got a set of snowshoes for the family. Convenient online ordering and very quick in-store pickup.
Long line to get in. If you are picking up an online purchase, you still have to wait in line. Great customer service.
This is one of my favorite stores the people and selection were second to none, I bought my Mountain bike here and plan to visit this store again and again.
Very helpful staff (though I have had issues with their bike department) and a great selection. Love this store.
Rei line with buzzers is a good idea. It was smooth and uncomplicated.
Thank you REI for having amazing customer service!
First time visiting this store....I'm flooded with choices. Will return with my truck and more money. Terrific values!
Great customer service but inventory was limited. Call ahead of time or look at store inventory online.
THE BEST place to get outdoor gear. Great deals, super nice staff, and lifetime warranties on all their stuff.
I had a great experience in this store. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the layout was easy to get around.
Good Wi-Fi
REI has lots of cool stuff, and is always fun to browser around in. Always a great place to stop and find some cool gear.
Good location. The displays were a little crowded but there's a lot of cool stuff to find in there.
Great selection of outdoor gear, super friendly staff. Decent "Clearance" sections as well.
Lots of good selection, just wish the prices were a little cheaper. Have free WiFi that wasn't working when I was there, and wish you could checkout and pay by phone.
Amazing store! Wonderful staff. Excellent service. All retail stores could learn from this one!
Shop at Next Adventure, support local. If next adventure doesn't have it, go to REI.
These people are really good they even helped me cut my inserts down on the spot so I can insert them into my shoes and relieve my feet of the pain of being on my feet all day
Heaven on earth. Free parking in their garage, two stories of gear, free classes offered by their employees, and awesome garage deals for members, what more does one need?
Super friendly customer service experience and found a stellar buy on a pair of shorts.
They stocked the Wahoo Desk, so happy to buy it right away without waiting days for shipping
Great place for finding the right outdoor gear, clothes, advice. Excellent staff. Go now!
Wonderful store. Three levels. Rock climbing as you enter. Many checkers. Lots of help.
Sat in shoe section for 20 mins with no service at all. Lady completely ignored me. Nice selection though.
Great selection of outdoor gear, mostly of the non-motorized type. Very reasonable prices.
Great place to get Hiking equipment, the only downside is that the selection may be small, but they usually have everything I need.
Still an industry leader in customer first approach. Other than the parking issues, this is a fantastic REI location.
Great store. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Wide selection. Best quality.
Great customer service as with all REI locations. Passionate staff give amazing classes.
Great service. Can be busy at times but they do a great job staffing the cash registers.
Good outdoor selection. Parking is hard. Staff is great. Willing to help as much as possible and very knowledgable
They were great! They helped me find a great hike to go on during my visit to Oregon.
Helpful staff. Good prices. And a member owned coop. Not just an ordinary store.
Everyone is so nice. They told me about their. Member program in an un pressuring way. I wanted it naturally.
Great adventure store chain. Good location near downtown Portland. As expected -- nice and clean.
Perfect location downtown with a great selection for such a small store. Definitely go to a garage sale when you get a chance
You really need more people in the bicycle area. You guys just lost an $800 sale. Just now. I've been a member for a few years. This was only time I couldn't get help.
Great for camping and hiking gear. I shop here for shoes as well. Fantastic store!
Expensive. Staff is very helpful and selection is great. Great place to buy bike lights and helmets.
REI staff are always knowledgeable and friendly. The selection and service are always great.
Excellent customer service & knowledgeable employees
Great products and great customer service.....from folks that understand what is required for your recreational activity!
Great customer service! Thanks for the help! So happy to test drive the new wheels.
Lots of great outdoor options. It's a shot REI store so they have a bit of everything outdoor.
Standard REI. Love my sleeping bag and had a great time at the sale
Fairly small for an REI. Camping selection a little disappointing. More of a biking & clothing store.
This is always my go-to place for outdoor gear. Staff can be extremely helpful if you're not sure about anything.
Never had problems here. Very helpful staff, and you can't beat the return policy.
The have a huge selection here, and he staff has always been super friendly,
Parking available next to the building. Filled with all of the outdoors gear you could ever want and zero membership required.
It was very busy and the staff was very unhelpful. Walked around forever needing some one to get a bike lock for me.
I have had the best experiences in this store every time have been in to shop.
Picked up a great hiking hat. Great selection and excellent customer service.
Fantabulous....love this store...bought a new down vest today...
Good everywhere. Great staff. Open late. Good prices. Useful classes.
my dad loves to come here for hiking boots
Not Flagship level but verrrrrry good selection. As always the staff are super well informed and helpful.
Good but pretty much all items are online.
The store is amazing. And the employees are very friendly and helpful.
Everyone at REI is helpful in helping you find what you need, even if it includes finding someone else to help!
Always a large selection of quality items. I drool each time I visit.
Best place for outdoor clothing and gear. Member since 1973 and recommend it.
Nice store. Good selection of outdoor equipment and clothing.
Good selection, inventory well stocked, staff helpful, but busy...
Year after year since the 60s....
consistent quality in thoughtfully
selected outdoor recreation goods
and services!
Great place. Had a lot of fun. Lots of employees to help, and great selection.
Great location, easy parking, and smart and friendly staff.
Great place but could not find the right beanie size for me.
The staff are very helpful and friendly and merchandise is of high quality.
Great selection of stuff, but the guy at the register was pretty rude.
Nice store, but the price tags hurt. Be prepared.
Low quality service and biased customer services. Avoid if you're not a Portland native.
They had everything I wanted on my most recent trip through Portland. Knowledge staff!
The footwear lady was awesome. The guy showing the watches and gps was a douchbag.
