Our last camping trip if the season.
Mixed review.
Pros-lots of trees that shaded the campground, clean and kept nice.
Cool outdoor sinks and electrical ranges through out campground.
Our Yome was clean, but 1 bed not too comfortable.
The office hands out activity backpacks (to borrow ) for kids and a printed story.
Cons-campground has no close easy access to the water. Definitely not for mobility challenged.
Near the office their are trails to a dock (the camp host was not forthcoming with this information and did not give helpful directions). The website does not elude to this lack of easy water access.
There is no place to lock up water toys remotely close to the water.
There are nice walking paths from campsite, to day use area (they might continue to Marina). Enter @ site 43.
Grounds staff were nice but the person that checked us in provided the bare minimum information.
Note: the North Fork Marina is clean with nice staff. You can launch your boat, canoe and paddle boards but there is no place to leave them.

Hands down the best camping trip i have had. 30 minutes from gresham. We cought 5 fish. There is a dock at the marina that is handicap accessible. Nice hot showers. Friendly hosts. We stayed in a cabin number 38 and 40 they have an amazing view.

Great little campground! I wanted to share a couple pics of one of the cabins. There are two sets of bunk beds, with one bottom bed a double size versus a twin. It was so cozy and clean and really nice to be nature-adjacent for those of us who aren’t super into tent camping. There is a small overhang on the patio, which was great to sit under while it rained the weekend I stayed. Inside, aside from the beds, there is a small electric heater and one small wooden table and chairs. A broom, dustpan, and trash can is also inside. This cabin technically could sleep five, but I found it great for just two people, especially with all of our gear.
The bathrooms were clean, the host was super nice, and the campground was really well kept.
Can’t wait to stay here again!

Very beautiful locale, and everything was clean. Fishing was fun and super great at small fry lake, other than no fish caught or seen.
I would have appreciated less alcohol consumption as it was not allowed. Also, the dock near the campground had no ladder! You would think they'd have a ladder available as people will undoubtedly swim.

Camp grounds are kept up with and clean. I like they have cooking stations where I don't have to use my propane. They have an outdoor sink to wash your dishes. As well with bathrooms and showers. The only problem i have is there is no privacy. Campsites are sooo close to each other and they are little.

Very Unique Campground; No two Site are alike.
Equipped with Yurts, Cabins and Traditional Campsites, Cook Stations, Restrooms and Showers.
We loved the Dock, below the Campground; you can tie up boats overnight!
Some sites would be tough to get RV's in, and there were only 4 Sites with Electric Hookups, but we were self contained.
Gorgeous Setting, Store, Boat Ramp and Boat Rentals.
Jonathan Graham
Nice little camping spot. Tents are 20.00 per site and cabins 45. I do not remember the Yome (Yurt). They have flush toilets and camp showers. There is a small swimming, fishing, and boat dock next to the campground as well. They have little cook stations that have a hot plate and dish washing station. The promontory store is a short walkable distance away if you forget anything as well. It is also a short walk to a playground, fishing, and kids only fishing pond.
Tammy Z
Busy on hot days! Beautiful place to kayak.

Been camping here for 20+ years. The ranger/camp hosts are fairly layed back, they came around in the morning with activity packs for the kids, which is new to me. All around a good place for family camping.

Sites are on top of each other. The grandkids were using sidewalk chalk & we were told it was graffiti & they had to stop. They have a night shift gentleman that makes rounds until 1am. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but he was over the top about every little thing. We certainly won't return.
Corinne Phillips
So relaxing and beautiful weather there. Our family camping trips were well worth it from the campground to the nearby hikes and fishing excursions, definitely worth it and love the great outdoors💜 …
Brandon Andrews
Great place for your family and fishing .. can rent boats for fun . Go every year
Eric Chadwick
Nice area with inexpensive boat rentals. My son had a ball at the small fry lake fishing derby.

bigyellowlion Leo
Great launch with rollers for our kayaks. The area surrounding the river was picturesque.
Renee Wornstaff
Spent the day with my Doughter an her family. Had a great time, just wish that the boat rentals had anchors, it would of made the fishing a lot less stressful, the people who worked there were great, beutifull place.
Bob Stanko
Simply beautiful, great kayak launch its handicap ramped, you roll your kayak down a roller ramp with a hand rail.
Water is very clear

Great opening day of the season! Everyone was awesome there! The staff at the shop and the dock crew were all amazing. Thanks for a great day guys!

Pros:
Camp hosts specifically Bill and Linda.
Fishing and boating activities.
Clean well maintained facilities.
View from our campsite to water.
Park ranger packs for kids activities.
Cons:
Lots for the most part are pretty tightly packed.
Not a quick walk down to water.
Above and beyond:
One of our family members had a non life-threatening emergency after hours. Bill really helped out to get a call to emergency services and to coordinate transportation for my nephew and I. Linda stayed with my nephew keeping him calm and in good spirits even with all the commotion going on. Thank you to you both. We really appreciate your time, kindness and professionalism.
Justin K
Absolutely love this place. Everyone is catching fish and the kids love it
Paul Corbin
This campground is in great shape and all sites seemed clean and well organized. The bathrooms were clean and equipped with power plugs and all the other essentials. The cooking stations are clean and the two burner cook top very nice condition and not rusty or scary looking.
I give this score of 3 because of no direct water access and the main sticking point for us was the Noise….semi trucks driving on the highway (224) at all hours of the night , they start early morning (7am) emptying the small dumpsters pulling them with a gator ATV which you hear throughout the campground. Then there’s that one group who doesn’t realize it’s 6am in the morning and talking /laughing loud probably woke up from the truck traffic so thought everyone should be up at that time . The last grip was at 4am we heard something right behind our tent wrestling around banging into stuff… I got up and looked around and flashed the light on a poor skunk with a Dixie cup stuck on its head walking blindly stumbling around and trying to get that cup of its head …felt so sorry for the little guy …. Anyway this was what we observed at this campground
Destiny
Amazing fishing spot! Cool tunnel to jump from. Caught a few trout it's an amazing place to go with the family especially when the weather is nice. Tons go forest all around gorgeous place. No cell service but that's the fun part. Lovely hosts and a good spot for the family.!
William Bodine
Buetiful campground quiet at night. Our family went camping there july 2020 from Wisconsin worth the stay with reasonable rate for tents. Didn't want to leave. The only down fall the campground is if your not back by 10 pm you got lock out. They close a gate across the drive way. But over all I would recommend it.

Campsites are very small and close together. If you are camping with others this is great, if you like privacy & space I'd suggest staying elsewhere. Our group stayed in a Yome (15) & a cabin (14).
The cabin has electricity & very tall ceilings, 2 bunkbeds ( twin/twin & twin/queen) a small table w/2 chairs. The cabin was in great shape and very nice. The space around the campsite was very small and sloped, which could be tricky for having many people around the firepit, however, it was away from other sites so there was decent privacy. The Yome also had electricity (a power strip and a small light) The yome is like a smaller version of a yurt, basically like a tent on a platform. It had 2 bunkbeds as well (twin/twin & twin/queen) this site was also very sloped & uneven. The firepit and picnic table sat very close to the neighboring sites firepit and picnic table with no trees or bushes, etc to separate them...if we had known the neighbors it would have been a great set up, however with it being strangers it just meant we didn't spend much time there as it was uncomfortable to be in each other's space quite so much.
There was no water access for the kids to swim directly at the campground. We were able to go down to the marina and rent a boat for the day which gave the kids access to water that way instead. The marina gets very, very, busy expect a lot of people there on a warm day.
The staff/camp hosts were all very kind and said hello anytime they passed by. They do have flush toilets and showers available. The bathrooms were well supplied and clean each time we went to them. My kids enjoyed riding their bikes thru the campground as it has lots of fun hills to coast down. We ended up hearing a lot of noise from the main road, also, having the campsites so small and close together there was a lot of "people" noise as well. This is not a "relax with peace and quiet" type of space.
Lisa Landreth
We had the best time renting a Pontoon and fishing on North Fork! So many fish, they were biting non-stop! The owners of the store there were fantastic and friendly and the rental process was fast and simple! Great time!!
alexandria kakalia
The camp grounds are well kept and the staff are friendly. It was close to the river and the trails are well managed while keeping the integrity of the natural beauty of Promontory Park. The camp sites are well priced and I cant wait to go back! I LOVE the Yomes!! So adorable! And they provide a fire pit and you can purchase wood for burning next to the office.
Justin Lowmaster (Chivalrybean)
It's a matter of preference, but I wasn't keen on this campground.
It's very open, little to no privacy. It isn't woodsy at all, feels more like a parking lot with spots for tents.
That may appeal to some, but not me.
I'd prefer the camp sites more sectioned off with trees and the like.
Some nice features like fish washing stations, spots to wash dishes and use electric devices (to cook, etc) was a plus (even if we didn't use them).
The Gardening Ho
Had a great time staying here. Campgrounds were clean and well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff made everything better. Not the most accessible for swimmers but plenty of spots for fishing or kayaking. Will definitely be coming back.
Nate Drews
The campsites are all right together. That was nice because we had three families, but not great for privacy. On the weekend we went, there were a lot of kids riding bikes and other wheeled objects. Very family friendly.
Dawn Anderson
First, it is completely packed on the weekends. There is no social distancing nor masks.
The kids play land is closed. Parking was impossible. We will return another time. Looks nice enough with the new marina features and kayak rental.
Brett Downes
Campsites are very very close together, with little to nothing separating them. The sign is very close to main roads, and you're not allowed to park your vehicle by your campsite. The check out process was a simple is leaving, however the check-in process took a while for us checking in on site, we did have running water available at the campsite as well as electricity which was weird but if you're looking for a fancy campsite this will work, was very close to the water which is the only upside to this place, being able to fish off the pier
ShelleM
My family have been visiting since 2012 and with each visit we appreciate it more. It's a nice, clean and quiet place to escape to from the city. It reminds me of how Oregon used to be; the civility and respect shown by other fellow campers, the familiar smell of the numerous old growth pine trees, and above all - the clean and satisfying taste of water!
We enjoy the fishing but that's not the real reason why we continue to go back. It well be interesting to see how well the park held up since the forest fire last summer. The best time, in my opinion, to make reservations would be in late June during the week days. We're definitely plan to go back this summer.
Skye Jones
Wonderful place to camp with family and friends. Lost two stars for the amount of bees and seeing many children accidently stepping in hives and being stung 15-30 times by large swarms of bees. In our group alone 3 kids (ages 4-12) were attacked, the youngest was hospitalized. No beach access to water for swimming, only a short dock mostly used for fishing.
Devin Young
Really helpful having the kayak launch
katarina elliott
Had a great time and stayed in one of the yomes. It was perfect for the kids and the bathrooms were very clean. There was a Katen who told us to quiet down while we were having a good time with our kids but besides that we really enjoyed it.
Chase Davis
Great boat launch, good people at the store & nice fishing.
Family Akhmetzhanov
Pros: 1) restrooms and showers are close to campsites 2) sink and stove area for shared cooking and cleaning 3) each campsite has a table and fire pit 4) good river if you have a boat
Cons: 1) too pricey for what is offered 2) no beach like access to water. There is only a wood ramp for walking and fishing. The water has lots of seaweed and we didnt see anyone swimming. Not that they can do anything about it, but they should reduce the price because of this 3) no access to river from campsite. Only one entrance to the river that leads to the wood ramp where we only saw peope fishing 4) most campsite areas are tiny, probably enough to fit a two-person tent. The only one we saw that fit two tents was #17. On some sites the fire pit is about three steps from the next one, which gives no privacy 5) the freeway is very close and you can hear the trucks driving through at night loud.
Nicole S
I loved this camp ground from when i was a kid to adult. Hot showers, and toilets. U are kinda close to other people but u have lake for swimming and fishing or boating. Near mt.hood forest so u have plenty of wooded trees near by. Quit at night not to bad noise from the road. They need to make it bigger as the get full fast all summer
JP B
Great place to boating and Kayak!
Torrik -
Many times have I went there, fishing, riding the boats, or just enjoying a good time at a campfire with family and friends. I would describe my visits peaceful. Whenever I woke up early, I would rest there listening to my favorite bird songs, while waiting for the entire park to once again to wake up. Over all it is really worth it.
Drew W
Promontory Park as a campground is great, friendly staff and a wonderfully arranged park. The Marina and Store is good to have but is a bit... much. Lots of signs and the music playing is always a bit too loud. Great to have them right next to the park though.
Brian Croft
We camped in their little yurt things for a few nights. We had a fun time as a family but the area they had us had pretty mushy ground and mosquitos galore. The kids trout pond is pretty nasty and must not be stocked... the only thing we caught was mosquito bites.
We rented pontoon boat which was fun. It was like new and we ran the whole reservoir (caught no fish) but had a fun time as a family. The rental folks are pretty clueless so plan on waiting around a while to get your rental. Lol.
Autumn Bateman
Pretty darn crowded, and not a lot of water access. A couple nice trails, though, and family friendly. A good spot for kids.
Eugene D.
Nice little place. You can throw a birthday party for dirt cheap for the covered area. Has water, lights, 8 or 10 tables, can have fire (when allowed by law), BBQ, playground, and bathroom. That little reservation area feels like the park is entirely for you.
M Ilf
Clean, and lots of things like bathrooms, showers, fish cleaning stations. Tent sites are very small, some staff not so friendly but some are. Have to park your boat off camp site where it's unattended even if your vehicle parking space is big enough to park the boat.
Shelli
This is the most fantastic campground. If only the construction crew could turn off the generator at night, but the road is closed, so its understandable.
Zach Young
Awesome spot to fish and stock up. Staff were sweet as heck. Expect to spend a little more for beer and food, they aren't very close to town.
Purnima Bheemaneni
Good place to relax .. trails are good . Riverside camp , well maintained.. we were so glad that we met nice people , kids enjoyed the out door nature . I Definitely recommend it.
FATAL
Nice park. Very clean bathrooms and showers. No fishing/no fish and no a nice place to swim at. Very nice rentals on Mondays and Tuesdays. Swimming holes very close if you drive
Tom Salisbury
Free to launch your boat and park truck and trailer all day while you fish. Then awesome bbq when you get back in. Needs bigger selection of tackle! Trolling gear!
Don Bixler
Great park to fish, swim, kayak not big enough for jet skiing or water skiing. Nice just to relax. Very clean and easy to use.
Alex Houston
The boat ramps were all closed for habitat reconstruction, but the place is nice. Kayak ramp was a great feature and you can rent paddle boards or kayaks!
Martin Shine
Steep hills !! Watch your animals or little ones, make sure you have your Ebrake on or...you'll be sorry. Not great for hiking, and close campsites. Good thing is Promatory lake and store are here or it would be a 1☆
Jonathan Harrington
Would be five stars I know it's not there fualt but the grass is out of control in the lake but the fishing was great and the ramp like always is great
Gerald Koellermeier
They have really made that a great place to hang out , the fishing is always good, swimming is great , it's always clean and for the most part peaceful, been going g to this place for 43 years now it has really grown into something great and the store us awesome and always great food and the boat dock is super cool and the boats are cheep to rent and there really good boats
Dana B Schaffer
Excellent boat ramp. Nice little store for whatever you might need out on the water. Only issue is that they lock the gates at 21:00.
Larry Larison
I get Promontory at 4 stars or new boat launch is sweet it's not quite deep enough but you got to back your rig into the water but that's usual for a lot of the boat launches
Lori L
We have been coming to your park since, 1978. We just spent the week of june 20-25 and coming back again july 25-29th. Soooo glad your back open!! Love all the new improvements!! We love your park!! 💖 …
Loyd Garoutte
Quiet very well taking care of
Matt
Amazing time, great boat rental rates.. haven't been in 20+ years, and yet the new owners of the marina made it feel like i was a kid again.
Michelle noteboom
Other than not being able to check into our cabin until 4pm it was pretty nice staying here. Linda was very helpful with all my questions.
Ondrea Grey
Boat rentals are a little expensive however the reservoir is beautiful and calming and the staff are really great. We had a wonderful time.
Justin Palmer
It’s a great park. Camping, yurts/yomes, and the dock are great. It’s a bit small and not private enough to give it 5 stars.
Rajasekhar D
Spent quality time with family and friends..no phones no communication with outer world. Yome was awesome and the place was so peaceful..We enjoyed kayaking and boat ride..
Tony Marquez
