Such a warm, clean, welcoming cozy atmosphere. Delicious fresh on ice oysters. Happy hour special was 3 dollars off 12 oysters. The deviled eggs were also yummy!

Hands down the best Oyster Bar experience I've ever had. Well done to Chef Sean. Thank you for the amazingly fresh Maine Oysters and awesome Seared Scallop. Honestly everything was phenomenal.

Such a funky little place-you would never know it was here-thanks google! Met w/super friendly staff and cool atmosphere-wish I had made dinner reservations! 18 oysters to-go and staff helped me pick them out-loved the local stories behind the oysters. Left w/oysters, 2 different mignonettes, an ice pack and a oyster knife! Full of flavor, clean and crisp-absolutely perfect and worth the drive. A must stop! Thanks so much!

Fresh as can be, delicious and incredible customer service/communication. I look forward to using them for future events here in Colorado and beyond. So thankful I can source high quality, sustainable oysters in a landlocked state. They even threw in a special vial of a unique minonette sauce. Highly recommend using Maine Oyster Company.

Did the shucking class which was a lot of fun and very informative. I have a new appreciation for oysters. Oysters were delicious and a good price. Also got a lobster roll which was delicious and had so much lobster meat!

The best oysters I've ever had. Found this place down the street from the Airbnb we were staying at and glad we did! Service was quick and the servers were very friendly. Our drinks were delicious and the oysters were so fresh. Will definitely come back if in the area again! The best part of our Portland visit.

This is a cozy, intimate, friendly little restaurant. This place takes their oysters seriously and they are very clean and well shucked. I love that they have Prosecco on tap!

I just happened upon this oyster shucking class when looking for a location to eat some oysters in Portland. It seriously was the highlight of our trip! The class was wonderful, the oysters were fabulous and we learned a new skill! Highly recommend this to pick up on some local culture and enjoy some fine dining! Slurp!

This place is highly recommended! Cozy atmosphere playing relaxing classics! The oaster's are very clean and beautifully presented! We highly recommend the Hot Pear with the sweet little shot of Prosecco! If you are coming to Portland this place is a must!

Great oyster selection, local and fresh. Great hosts that are very warm and sincere. We got in as oyster ignorants and got out as people who now know what they like and want. Everything coming out of kitchen is great too. Overall, nothing is less than great, highly recommend fed.

The freshest oysters, and a cute, quaint little spot. The people who work there are a joy, and go out of their way to make the experience memorable. It's a small shop that could maybe fit around 20 people max, and that's the best part! They have the oysters out fresh on display, and they have a few other items that looked pretty tasty as well. My wife, young daughter (under 2) and I were there to grab a quick snack before dinner. A good variety of local craft beer on tap. They cut my daughter's hot dog up in a very fun way that she loved. Will stop here again for sure next time we are in Maine!"

We've had oysters from all over portland and these were by far the ones we liked the best! Very nice, small oyster bar and the staff was so nice and very helpful. Don't let the area it's located deter you from stopping here because you will not regret it. Call for reservations because the seating is very limited. I will recommend this place to everyone who visits Maine!

We decided to do Oyster happy hour here... walking in we assumed all oysters were half price because of the way it was presented in the ice box. The waitress never shared with us that only one oyster was on “special” for happy hour. (She wasn’t the friendliest) The Oysters were delicious! The menu was very descriptive with details about the Oyster and their locations.

An absolutely wonderful spot you should not miss if you enjoy oysters. Great relaxed atmosphere and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. I learned a ton about oyster farming and how valuable that process is to the ecosystem. Also they have a great happy hour special, $1.25 for a particular oyster and $5 draft beer (and it's good stuff like Maine Lunch). Come here!!

Amazing place--totally dedicated to oysters, with a fantastic (rotating) selection. The company also does a ton to support local aquaculture and market local oyster growers, which is awesome. Great hospitality (thank you Emily you're the best!), and one of the best (albeit completely under the radar) lobster rolls in the state. Plus they almost always have Lunch on tap.

A great experience. Our first night in town and the first place we tried. Nice interior with super friendly staff. Very enthusiastic and very interested in providing a great experience. I can highly recommend. We tried loads of different oysters and a number of other plates with lobster.

We were looking for an oyster bar for raw oysters and some cocktails. Great little spot the oysters were absolutely fresh. We did a selection of all their options and we’re not disappointed with not even one! Highly recommend. Cocktails were delicious too!

The best oysters we have ever had. Fresh as if we had picked them ourselves. Will be making a special trip just to visit this wonderful little hole in the wall. The staff were friendly and attentive. Loved the fact that the person behind the oyster bar explained the oysters origin and even showed us how to shuck. Loved it!!! Number 1 lobster roll.

if you're in any kind of reasonable distance to this place, you need to eat here. So much more than oysters but the oysters are amazing and cheap. i don't think anyone in this area is afraid of the neighborhood but if that's making you hesitant, don't worry about it and eat here as much as you can. worth the trip and whatever bill they hand you.

Best oysters in Maine. Great service. Owner/manager gave us the process of farming oysters, walked us through, and the food was phenomenal. Also I visited Boston before Maine, tried lobster roll at a lot of places, this place has been by far my favorite lobster roll!

Amazing raw bar but my partner, who is not what I would call a shrinking violet (we live in the heart of la and see plenty of crazy stuff there) was genuinely stressed out by the location which featured a large group of the unhoused cavorting across the street, so, keep that in mind.

Maine Oyster Company is a hidden Gem in Portland. The atmosphere is sophisticated, but also very welcoming. The staff was super friendly and provided great service, and the owner took the time to come and chat about the oysters and shared some knowledge on the new caviar that was just added to the menu. The oysters and the caviar were phenomenal! The drinks are great here too. It's one of my new favorite places and I encourage everyone to stop in and experience this wonderful restaurant!

This was the best experience of our entire trip! What a FANTASTIC place! I thought it would be kitschy, commercialized, and jam packed...the total opposite. This was a neighborhood place with prosecco on tap, and fantastic oysters that were only overshadowed by the excellent serving staff. Note: all the shuckers were women! Then, one of their oyster farmers came with a delivery and they gave us a half dozen of his fresh catch COMPLIMENTARY. Holy cow...what a great place!

First time there tonight, very good first impression. Easy to make reservations and the staff were polite and patient. Very good oysters, caviar and seafood chowder. Will be back again.

Great seafood place, and the staff are incredibly nice and helpful. The best part is the oyster menu, of course, which explains where each variety comes from and what to expect from the taste. They also brew their own Oyster-stout, which I haven't gotten to try yet, but sounded quite good. The place itself is a little out-of-the-way, but definitely worth the trip.

No wonder this place has an avg 5 stars. It is *outstanding*. The oysters are wonderful and below market price, the drinks are inventive, and the service is hands-down the absolute best in Portland. I just want to live here.

Tried every oyster in the house. All scored over 7 on 1-10 scale, most 8-10. Emily and Zoey complete a picture of perfection here. Worth the few steps extra to get there, great environment, beer selection, and oyster shooters ! Won’t be disappointed!

I had my first experience at Maine Oyster Company during a seaweed event a few months ago during a seaweed event. I had a blast. The Oysters were delicious. I can't remember the origins of the oysters I tried, I enjoyed each type. The dipping sauces were really good as well. The cocktails that night were seaweed themed and delicious. There service was friendly and helpful. I was not embarassed at being an oyster novice at all. It is a wonderful addition to the renewal of the back cove area of Portland. They seem well informed and supportive of the aquaculture community that it depends on. It was a fun night and I hope to get back soon.

I've ordered from them twice so far during the pandemic, once to CT and once to NH, and they are just fantastic. The oysters come quickly, are absolutely delicious, and they come with a delicious mignonette and information about where they come from. On top of that, the folks at the company are incredibly helpful and friendly. If you love oysters, support this company and order today! Brilliant little oyster bar offering a wide variety of oysters from all over Maine's coast. Cozy, comfortable, and casual vibe, with new modern rustic decor. Staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about oysters! Happy hour is a fantastic deal for late lunch.

My partner and I went for the first time tonight. Writing a review right away as we had a great experience. Excellent food for sure, everything seems sourced locally which really came through strong in the flavor department. Best oysters I think I've ever had. Good atmosphere and we had some enjoyable/educational conversations with the staff. It was also significantly less crowded than some of the other restaurants just a 5-10 minute walk away. This place was worth the short walk though, will be back.

The oyster marionette was so good you can drink it on its own! The oysters are hands down the best I had in Portland. Take a walk if the beaten path and explore MOC- you won't regret it. The lobster roll and oyster shooters are fabulous as well!

not keen on giving reviews but wanted to share ordering experience. placed 2 orders on december 5th; 50 oysters for december 23rd and 50 oysters for december 31st. didn't get any shipping notification so called. the receipt was for the two separate dates but they combined them and planned on sending 100 oysters on december 31st. too late to get anything sent for christmas since it's the weekend. hoping for better luck on the 31st. update; ordering snafu rectified; very professional and courteous! oysters arrived today; freshness, quality second to none! highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again.

I went here for my birthday yesterday (and I NEVER write reviews-- everyone was so helpful and passionate about oysters (including a nice fisherman at the bar) I was treated like an oyster queen and got the supreme oyster treatment. I had never tried them before and everyone was so helpful in teaching me and my love how to shuck/eat/enjoy oysters. I even bought a shirt to commemorate. I loved it here! Cannot recommend enough! Thanks for the great birthday, guys!
