Reviews of Estrella Mountain Regional Park
Rebecca Brinkman
This is the best time of year to go if you want picturesque views!!!! The superbloom is happening and you can’t miss it!!! Clean and quiet, this is my favorite hiking spot 💗 …
Jason Burlingame
Awesome hike, probably not the best time to go, August at 7am....it was still hot!! Take plenty of water. Amazing views!!
SO Roman
Park is beautiful well kept and worth entry fee!! Sunrise is beautiful and trails are easy to walk or run! Pet friendly too!
Brenda Kerns
Awesome beautiful scenery we had a long hike but got some beautiful pictures ur also able to rent horses to ride on the trails too which is neat too.
Jana Tingom
Hiked down to Flycatcher Trail to see wildflowers! There’s also currently some poppies and lupine around the Butterfield/Gasden Trail intersection. Kids loved the playground afterwards too.
Jeyree Reed
I loved here. Not to hard of a climb, some narrow paths. Love the peacefulness and all the Beautiful stones.
Todd Junck
A beautiful and well kept park in the southwest Valley of Phoenix. Very few people here when we came to watch the sunset. You have to pay to get in the park but that's what helps keep it in good shape and with good facilities.
Meghan Pappas
My family had a really great time seeing all the beautiful sites. We enjoyed seeing all the wildlife♡ the trails were great and beautifully taken care of and informative!! Only complaint would be the port a potty!! It was very nasty. But gorgeous place to visit with family. Just come prepared!!
Randy Watson
Awesome hike today. Make sure you have a lot of water. Parking is seven dollars. The lady at the window was nice and I had no issues with parking. Try to get there early as possible in the summer at the sun and heat can be brutal pit here in Arizona.
ACE
Beautiful park . Very clean and well kept. There are many different trails at different levels of difficulty. If you’re new, or you would just like a copy, ask the attendant at the entrance, for recommendations for any level and they’ll provide a map for any specific trail as well as a guide that list all the trails that equals 51 miles of hiking. There are many spots for picnics and or resting as well.
Tyler McGhee
I've had so many life experiences in this park. It is a second home. I got married behind the nature center. My family of 6 has been on many Halloween night hikes. I've hiked and biked 100's of miles here over the years.we miss you, ranger tippy (she once led a night hike wearing a white feather boa)! This park will always have a special place in my heart ❤
Shanelle K
One of the best regional parks! From the outside the mountains don't look that exciting but the closer you look you see they are covered in quartz and granite! One of the employees in the discovery center told us that their is an 8 mile trail that will take you to a piece of quartz the size of a car!!
We loved their playground and discovery center too!! THE BEST!
Corey Stohlquist
Great family area to play, hike 🚶♂️ and picnic. Several clean restrooms scattered throughout the the Park along with covered picnic tables, electrical outlets and grills to use-bring your own charcoal. Plenty of shade available. Entry fee is $7.00 per vehicle or a seasonal pass is available for purchase. …
Beth Carter
We love hiking here in the morning before the day heats up. We were visiting family recently and decided to go on a weekday. It wasn’t busy at all. The trails are marked but I would use their map to make sure you make the right turns based on the trail you want to stick to. The woman who was working at the booth was friendly and helpful.
E-Rock Christopher
This is a beautiful hiking area with lots of scenic views in every direction. Lots of variety for the trails. Not much elevation difference, so not a lot of steep climbs. Very child friendly and pet friendly. We went on Thanksgiving so it was very open with just a few people. Great place to enjoy outdoors without many people. It cost 6 dollars to enter, but happy to support this place. Very detailed maps and brochures are available. There is also a place where you can go horseback riding, but have not tried it yet.
Carrie Bocanegra
An easy little hike with family. A fun trail with information plaques with plant description. Plenty of super cool photo ops.
Jose Herrera
I've been going to this place for many years! It's amazing and plenty of space to go hiking, walking, have picnic and camping. Keep in mind there is a minimal fee to enter the park, I would suggest getting the annual pass as it allows you to visit other parks.
Joshua Cooper
Had a really nice hike here. They have plenty of amenities for day trips as well.
AZ Adventures Mike Wilson
Beautiful place. I really like that fact that the Estella county in southern Goodyear set this area aside. Rather than just developing as many houses they could fit into the subdivision.
Fancy
Very nice clean place to go any day any time. The staff are very friendly. Gave me a map of the trails. The restrooms were clean and trails were nice as well.
Julia Piland
Beautiful! And there is a hidden amazing playground. Wish my kiddo had the energy going the trails as he did going down.
Michael Peterson
Place looks very well kept and would like to go there for a large family picnic at some point
Steven & Tracey Jiles
Nice park. Less crowded than some of the others in the area because you have to pay to enter. My only negative is that the trails were filled with horse manure due to people horse back riding on the trails...
Michelle Markel
Beautiful park comprising more than 19,000 acres with a variety of well-marked trails suitable for all levels. Activities include: hiking, trail-running, mountain biking, picnicking in dedicated reservable ramadas, camping, equestrian. Nice visitor center with very friendly staff. Restrooms, water at visitor center and equestrian staging area. Includes a section of the Maricopa Trail. $2 entry if on foot or bike; $7 per car. Day use except for the camping area, which currently is only available at the equestrian center. Gem of a park!
Davina Barnett
Good hiking trails. Clean. Not crowded. They also have great playgrounds. It was $7 for a daily pass.
Cheryl Hillis
We were looking to do a little hiking while in Phoenix. This fit the bill! The lady at the visitor center was helpful in finding a nice hike. We did 2.25 miles. It was nice.
Melanie Brumble
This was my 3rd time going on the baseline trail. Im already aware of the many trails Estrella has to offer and one of the spots that are very popular with the Star Tower is near.
They have great visitor center if you want to know more about the animals in the area. The trails range in difficulty. From most of the trails you have a great view looking out to Phoenix, Goodyear and Avondale.
Erick Rook
I hold a hiking group here on a regular basis and I love the terrain, and expansive trails. I've never really seen it fully crowded like some other trails either which is nice.
Jennifer Goins
Beautiful trails! Plenty of variety no matter what distance or skill level.
Chuck K
A very nice day use park. Lots of picnic tables, hiking trails and playground for the kids . They have an Interesting nature center and have guided programs.
Mandi Ward
Bring sunscreen. We enjoyed ourselves on this dry but not to hot hike. I bet it's very hot in the summer with no shade on the trail of course.
enrique verduzco
Nice place. $7 entrance fee. During the Summer months go early and bring a lot of water.
Rob Gudgeon (Azraiderrob)
Nice nature center with a couple of snakes and spiders and a toad. They have allot of info about the park. $7.00 a car load for the day. Well marked trails through the mountain.
Teresa J
I love this park for hikes! Its great to just get out for the day and the dogs love it too.
Michael Robinson
Excellent local mountain park. There are great views and awesome trails for hiking.
Karl Davis
Good hiking. Restrooms provided. It costs $7 to bring your car and get a day pass.
Julie Diebolt Price
Estrella Mountain Regional Park is a wealth of information about the surrounding flora and fauna, as well as the plans to heal the Gila, Salt, and Agua Fria rivers.
You can picnic, ride bikes or horses, get fit with guided hikes, or go on your own on trails from easy, moderate, and difficult.
Latash Renee'
Very clean park, Nice trails and upkeep was good too. I would love to come more often but the $7 fee for a few times a week is over my budget. My daughter enjoyed our 1st hiking experience with a top of the mountain midpoint and Deabeau (my furbaby) enjoyed the New scenery
Rob the Foodie
Lots of space and plenty of trails for hiking and picnicking or riding your bicycle great experience
Michelle Teaford Wojcik
This is a nice park for a quick day hike. We enjoyed looking at all the large cactuses. There's a small horse rescue within the park and you're able to book rides. There's also a little nature center with a few live animals for viewing. They also have free postcards to take so that makes for a nice souvenir.
Cameron Brevard MS, CPLC
Out of the way, nice pavilions, clean bathrooms, and it was great they had a way to fill our water bottles.
MrSmashNMash
This is a great place to take your horses out. Plenty of different terrain and spots to stop and enjoy the day. Well before it gets too hot.
Matthew Burtis
Great spot for hikes! Love the horseback riding option too! Worth the visit
Aaron Barbee (A-A-Ron)
My 11-year-old son and I were here early on a Saturday morning for the Cactus Flower 6k race (part of a trail series). We were only in town for a few days and managed to find this race on the calendar.
The park itself is pretty plain. The cost to get in ($5 or $6?) seems peculiar to me, since I don't know what the return was on my investment. Maybe that's just how the parks in Arizona/Phoenix work? Either that or I'm spoiled by all of the free parks in the midwest.
We ran on a very challenging course: lots of hills, sand gravel and so forth.
Hitting the trails for a long hike or something? Bring lots of water and snacks. There's not much in the way of shade or anything out there. :)
Brooke Csikos
Very nice! Tons of hiking, trails are nice and clean too! Lots of spots for biking too. Saw tons of little wildlife out there.
Chuck S
Very good hiking, biking and equestrian trails in this regional park of Maricopa County. Mild to moderate trails, plenty of parking.
Victor Granados
I've been coming here for years, it's well kept and trails are fun for everyone! I personally like to mountain bike and have picnics with my family here. The park is so big that it usually feels private whenever I arrive, which is pretty awesome if you ask me!
Eric Robinson
Wow!! What a perfect day to be up here.
Jimm Burton
Great hiking. Go early in the summer as the temps can climb quickly and there is no shade. Many different hikes - mostly flat - pick your length. Horseback riding available in the winter.
Karissa
Great park to come and hike, take photos, play with the pups, relax, and just have fun. Many cooking areas and Park tables. Clean. Restrooms have water and are clean. You can even camp here!
Robert Atlas
I mountain bike ride here weekly. Easy access and a beautiful area to get out and hike or ride your bike. I appreciate having such an awesome place basically in my back yard. I live in estrella mountain ranch and appreciate how easy it is to get in and out of. Thank for such a beautiful place so close to home.
Baby Rosales
Nice hidden back mountain trails. Great for jogging or beginning hikers.
oscar jimenez
great place for birthday parties and families meetimgs
David Mills
Fun place when it's not so hot. Some amazing wildlife here.
Update: Still good. Great for families.
Griselda L
In love this park, you can really appreciate the sunset from the top of the mountain. They have classes for kids at the nature center, there is also camping there. I really enjoy this park, specially in February when its covered by flowers.
Darrel Gilbertson
We love this park for hiking, mountain biking and the play ground is amazing.
DesLauriers Adventures
If you are a family and or a person that likes to go on hikes, then Estrella is the place for you!
There are miles of trails to choose from with difficulty levels from very easy to difficult.
If you don't want to hike, but maybe have a family celebration or just a lunch, you can do that too!
There are many covered areas that have bench tables in them.
Will it cost you money? Yes
For a car load of people it was $7
For a group of us and hours of entertainment that's a great price.
***Prices may very due to activities or vehicle size ***
I highly recommend this park
Brandon Noia
Place was super nice. It's $7 to get in. They close early too.
Jsique Blue
This has always been my favorite park but the last few times that I have gone with my family all their bathrooms seem to be out of order or closed and there's no mention of it when you pay the fee to get in. We had to go to a bathroom far away from where we were having a birthday party. After a while we had to drive people to the restroom, We ended up finding a porta potty that was closer for people to use and I think that's unacceptable if you're paying to use park services. I hope they can address this soon.
Jenn F
In the Estrella Mountain Region for a trail race by Aravaipa. Beautiful area!
Leticia Flores
Nice place to hang out with the family n grilled.
sheltie rving
$7 a day but nice trails to walk and or hike.
HazeGray
Great place to hike, they have a huge park and areas for BBQ. The staff are always very nice. If you have not made a visit you should.
Tabitha Garrison
Absolutely love this mountain area. The rocks are awesome. I've started tumbling some of them.
Jena Tate
Nice place to relax, hike and have a picnic
Chris Summers
Love this park. Rangers are great. Been going here for 7 years almost daily. It's usually quiet. Less people. Keep your dogs on leashes please and leave nothing behind. There are coyotes around daily.
Michael Calcinari
One word- amazing! The natural views, spectacular desert views... places like this is why we love AZ!
Angela Ogden
Always a great easy hike. Get the annual pass if you go go more than 12 times a year at any of the parks (i.e. White tanks, Usery etc.). We've used it all the parks!
Michael Trippanera
Always a beautiful time. Very well maintained trails
Jared
It's a nice park, with good trails. If you just want to have a hike that's not going to take all day, this is the perfect place for you. The trails will take you anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour, it really depends on your speed. It's neat for picnics or little family gatherings. The area around the picnic centers could use some more grass, but they don't get much funding so it is what it is. It's a nice park either way though!
Joshua Taylor
This is another amazing place to go hiking in the West Valley!
Theodore Tulle
Very quiet, secluded, spot. Still somewhat isolated despite encroaching civilization. You'd have to be looking for it to find it. Haven't explored all the trails as yet, because of a knee injury; but, I'll be back! Great spot for family picnics and get togethers.
Pyro Parrish
What an amazing place 7 bucks to get in. Easy to navigate enjoyed it alot.
Michael M
Ran the the Fat Ox race out here. Nice area with clean bathrooms.
Joe Crofts
This place was awesome. The playground is just amazing. My 6 year old cried when it was time to leave.
Dave Arreglado
A lot of Good Trails for Bikers, Hikers and Horseback Riding. .. had a great time doing 11mile bike trail..
dan hoban
Good place for riding a horse! Walking is okay but scenery isn't the best the valley has to offer
Nickel Kratzer
Nice park. Huge. Miles of hiking trails. A rodeo. Lots of tables and plenty of shade. BBQ pits. Easter is PACKED. Restrooms are spread too far. I feel $6 a car is too much. Not a lot of grass, and a lot of stickers. Still give it 5 stars though.
Stephanie Camello
This is a really amazing piece of nature in the heart of Goodyear. It's a huge area where you can camp, hike, bike ride and let the dogs and kiddos run around! One of my favorite areas is the museum which has an outside path with a artistic timeline of interesting tidbits about the Native American Indian tribes that inhabited the land and the progression of the city of Goodyear throughout the centuries. Plus, there is a cute little hiking trail called "Quail Trail" where you are bound to see some beautiful quails! A day trip to this mountain park is just the thing you need to reconnect with nature and learn a little something about the history of the land. Just make sure to bring food, a ton of water and try to go on a day where it's under 90 degrees!
Samantha Winslow
Good fun ride today and nice hike.
Jax Marshall
Pretty, but busy.
The ANNUAL Pass is worth the $$
Norma Clayton
Plenty of ramadas and tables with grills all over. Bathroom was stocked and decent. Nice play area. Plenty of water available all over the park.
Elizabeth flores
Its a nice place to hike and i like how there is a play ground as well. Just wish that people would pick up after their dogs and themselves as well
anni miranda
Always a great experience. Great place for a easy hike.
Mitch Allaman
I mountain bike here often and have taken my family here for hikes and biking. Lots of trails to match whatever skill level.
Rebecca Hood
I like the trails for hiking. Most are medium difficulty but well marked and you can combine them together for some pretty long distances without having to cover the same ground twice.
Claudia Juarez
Wow!
I didn't realize how much Estrella Mountain Regional Park had changed.
It's been years since I last visited the park.
I really like all the improvements from the new entrance to the new trails.
Mark H.
This is an amazing park. It's huge, it has a great playground, and lots of well spaced ramadas. The hiking trails are beautiful and well kept. There is a $7 per vehicle fee, but it's totally worth it. You can camp here, but it requires a special permit. Be aware, this is a desert habitat, so there are scorpions and snakes.
Lolli
After a long day of looking for a nice and somewhat quiet place to have lunch and play with our drone, we remembered that there was a lovely state park with trees and hiking trails just minutes from home. Don't know why it was so empty on a beautiful October Saturday but, lucky us! Very peaceful and plenty of room to play with our drone.
DeLynn Hodges
Nice hiking trail for first time hikers.
Erin Vermilyea
One of my favorites to always hike!
Jerry Smith
Nice park for hiking. Many easy to moderate trails of various length. Trails are well marked and intersect often so you can hike as far as you want. Views both near and far are outstanding. Ample Picnic facilities, bathrooms and water available.
Tracy Chmielecki
Nice park with many trails to explore.
Bill Lawrence
Hiked 5 miles today. I'm a novice hiker and it was doable although admittedly a challenge in a few spots. All the staff and fellow adventurers were very friendly. Beautiful scenery. Just keep your eyes on the trail, especially while going downhill. Don't get so busy hikung that you forget to pull over and look up. Magnificent!
Mike Lawry
Stopped by in the morning to explore a bit before a flight out of PHX. Entry is $7 per vehicle with some odd 20 trails to choose from anywhere from a mile long to several miles and multiple picnic areas. Great if you're planning on spending the day here with family/friends or just want to get in a quick hike.
Jamie Wollwert
Love the park, hiking trails, and mile long paved walkway in the middle. Very nice.
Mrs. Mosely
Really nice just be prepared to pay for entrance. $7 per car load. Not expensive, and so many trails to choose from. I’m definitely going back. Their hiking map though is not for the inexperienced.
P. C.
There are all types of trails here. When we had our kids, we'd even take a stroller out on the Gila trail, which is fairly flat and round. There are camping sites and a fun playground for the kids. Not a fan of paying 6 bucks to get in, but not much you can do about that. Worth it if it's a once-in-a-while type thing.
Rachel Chapman
Beautiful park with great views and lots of trails. Lots of ramada space for gatherings and a playground for kids too. There is also a nature center that hosts many educational events throughout the year.
Spent two hours here recently and hiked about 5 miles. Path we took was easy, not many other parks have long, easy trails and we're usually done in less than an hour. I was very happy to get a nice leisurely hike here. I'll definitely return.
Geneva Martinez-Ohton
Love the trails! Lots of horses
Jacob Scott
This place is very well maintained and very well signed. Trails and map are easy to follow and didn't have any issues finding my way around.
Views here are pretty awesome as well with plenty of opportunities to take some fantastic mountain pictures, not the best spot for taking pictures of the city though.
I did find the gate a bit odd in terms of payment and access. But the process is very straight forward. Pretty keen to visit again.
Rajkamal Gaddipati
Ramadas and kids play area are good, but flat grounds needed to spend more fun time by playing volley ball, others sports..
Kevin Glynn
Loved it. Well maintained trails, not busy at all. Nice mix of easy and moderate difficulty level trails. Picnic areas available, at least one with a play ground. RV parking area as well. Beautiful views of the mountains, and valleys both up close and in the distance. Very scenic, great for photography.
GoBeDope
There were some coves that were serene. Met some cool ppl too. Good vibe- I’ll go back again
scarlet jarid
Love the outdoors? Great place for kids too. I took my niece their and she had a ton of fun!! Trying to do something non electronic...no cell phones actually getting outside and exploring nature. Take your kids there they will actually like it.
ana juarez
This us a good place to hike, it seems quiet and clean;however I believe it is $6 or 7 to enter the park
Sabrina Vigil
I brought my parents to join the full moon hike. It was a guided hike. A good group of people showed up. Amanda led us through and she would stop and tell us facts about the park, its wildlife and plants. You could tell she cared about what she does. The hike was 2 miles long and about 2 hours- although it felt much shorter. Amanda and her four helpers were great! Both, my parents and I, loved the hike.
Laura McKay
This is a nice big park, perfect for day outings with plenty of picnic areas, hiking, golf, rodeo & horseback riding. Limited camping available with some sites (16, 17, 18) that are not level & basically right by the rodeo arena, literally in the parking lot. The other sites 9-15 are developed with concrete pad/picnic table, fire ring & full hook-ups. Bathrooms are there, but not close to the better sites, no showers. Kinda pricey at $32/night in our opinion.
Anne Maxwell
A wonderful, but very heavily used, park. Trails are relatively easy to navigate and staff at the visitor center was very personable.
If you're looking to head out on trails and be by yourself a lot, this is probably not the park for you. However, if you're looking for a taste of local plants and native birds, etc., this is the place to go!
Matt Prielipp
Nice local hiking spot.
Rochelle Linares
Beautiful trails and scenery!
Sonia Sundberg
Went there to do a little star gazing. Close enough to the city that the drive didn't take long but far enough away to see quite a few constellations.
Travis Morato
$7... New York parks are cheaper but they definitely don't have the accommodations this park has. Had a pretty good little hike. Loose gravel paths in places, be prepared.
Pat Thompson
Great place for riding, running, walking
Mark Iversen
Fun trails.
Debra Campise
We went to the park on a whim. Only $7 per car. There is a nature center where you get a map and very helpful knowledgeable guide
gave us an easy path to take as beginners.
My mom is on a walker and even ahe was able to join in.
The store inside has snakes frogs spiders the guide there knew each animal by name
It was a fun experience.
We hope to go there every week.
Tom Weech
Great hiking trails and views for the west valley folks. The recently opened 202 expansion makes it easy to get to even from the east side.
LL
So many trails to hike and it's rarely crowded in the early morning, great trails for dogs and kids. Lots of beautiful homes to look at as you're hiking the numerous foothills. Not too steep of a climb, I have 3 small dogs that are ok with it. There is also a park fee of 7$.
Lisa Jones
Has a variety of trails, perfect for our young family. Helpful information at the nature center. Dirt trails made the kids feel like it was a "real" hike. We took the rainbow trail and had to watch for horse poop.
Hujaji Blamble
Fun park, low crowd during the week.
Shaun Moser
Great place for short or long hikes. Absolutely Love the desert scenery.
Beverly Taylor
Excellent park with extensive trails configured in a way you can create a variety of loops and courses. Nice variety of terrain, large staging and parking areas near trailheads that I saw. Clean facilities and friendly staff that I interacted with. As usual, Maricopa County provides an excellent park and outdoor experience in a Regional Park. If you're local, even part time and stand any chance of using the parks 20 times in a calendar year, I definitely recommend the annual pass and visiting all of them. So far each park has been a unique and pleasant experience.
Phylliss S
Nice park with good easy hikes.
Moving Forward FCO
Nice park, lots of space out the hustle of the city. Not to far from town. Down fall you have to pay 5 a car load I think. Not much, 1 for motorcycle. Don't know if that deters people, but both times I have been, no people really. Sad. Cause it is a nice place to go spend a day. 😎 …
Malamarey
Fun place to hike not to hard has easy to hard trails great views
Jason Champagne
In eight years I have been here three times. Once with my kids, once to run a trail run 6k, and just recently on a date. It has many beginner to intermediate trails. They all connect for the most part. The entrance fee is a little bothersome, yet the nice roads and amenities are a bonus.
Steve Koz
We had an amazing time! We love the very well maintained trails. The doggie waste bag stations are very helpful also because we always forget to bring our bags. We love that the trails are not over crowded and the views are fantastic.
Pendraqon
Amazing trails, nice volunteers/staff, clearly marked hiking areas. Great for a short hike with kids or dogs and also good for long hikes for more serious enthusiasts. Mountainous and flat terrain both available to all levels of skill!
Kelson White
Pretty place. It cost 7$ for a day pass if you drive in.
E Blanding
Love the actual park!!!
Love the location.
However, an employee told us the park was only for people that lived in the neighborhood by the park. He told us we had to go home and we couldn’t sit there to rest after our walk. No, he didn’t ask us if we lived there.
Frederickthe Photographer
Nice hike, was a very busy place today! There was a long line of cars waiting to pay the $8.00 to get in on normal days it $7.00. They had what seemed to be a car show. Lots of families, music, old cars, and food.
Saif Al-Alawi
As I've said before this is a fantastic park for a novice or beginning hiker. Many of the trails will lead you out into the desert Abyss. It is wide open and seems to be very popular with horse and bike riders.
An Gi
Nice hike. Not too steep, unless you go looking for that. There are ramadas near the entrance for picnics and BBQ. Might need reservations for those. I don't know. But it does get busy once the weather gets nice. For out of staters that means when it gets cold -- under 90 degrees F. That's around 30ish degrees C for normal people.
Kiana
NOT A STATE PARK as Google suggests. State Park pass will not work here. This is a Maricopa county park. Beautiful nonetheless!
mary rodriguez
Easy to moderate trails.
Mark de Guzman
Easy to hard trails, love this place.
JD Harris
We went for horseback riding lessons and had a great time. The rescue horses were awesome and our granddaughter loved it. Bring some apples or carrots, great treats for the horses. JD
Alicia Douglas
Today we took the family to the Estrella Mountain Regional Park for their annual Halloween festival. They had lots of fun with the "creepy" critters on display. They even had a bonfire with all the goodies for roasted marshmallows! My granddaughter had a blast!
Kasie Nicole
Nice easy little hike can even take small kids with you. The star tower has been slightly vandalized over the years from teenagers most likely but still a cute area. Take your significant other on a picnic date here!!
Raymond Berkoski
Great hiking location that was well kept and great views. Cost a few bucks to get in and it was surprisingly quiet the Saturday morning I went. Not the most beautiful scenery in Arizona, but if you're in the South West part of Phoenix, if definitely give this place a shot. Plenty of variations on hiking difficulty and lengths for any type of hiker.
O'Zandra
Great park to spend the day. Easy to moderate trails. Horse corrals. RV parks. Scenic views. Peaceful and quite. Become one with nature; visit Estrella Mountain Regional Park. 😊 Lots of parking. …

Beautiful park. Great easy hiking trails, and lots of shady picnic areas. Good place for family, and pets.
Ben Reindl
This is normally an absolutely fantastic place to hike and mountain bike. I took away one star because the day I was out there an obviously inexperienced worker had taken some kind of machine and plowed up one the trails (pederson to crossover) to a dangerous state this lodging Rock and crashing into the cactus everywhere, don't know what they were thinking takes years for these trails to get packed down. An example of inexperienced and untrained workers being unsupervised.
Fred M
Take the base trail and head to the top for some great views at sunset. Quail trail is the one I think was the hardest because it had many boulders. The ramadas are awesome for a picnic. The staff at the nature center are just the coolest with a lot of useful information
Pamela Garvey
Loved the trails and all the cactus
Tim Jackson
Great regional Park with decent trails. FANTASTIC playground for the kids. I noticed a lot of red and yellow beetles around the playground, these are Iron Cross beetles and they secreet a poison through their joints that can cause painful blisters, don't let your kids pick these up!
Deborah Abernathy
There are trees and grass. There are elaborate ramadas and picnic tables, and camp sites with utility hookups, as well as restrooms. There is a nature center and gift shop. Steep hills are right there to climb. The Gila River is across the road, although it is very low most of the time. Also, Goodyear is only about four miles away.
Ignacio Juarez
Nice and peaceful, the family enjoyed it

I'm glad it was "National Take a Hike" day because paying an entry fee for any taxpayer funded park is ridiculous. That said, it was kind of pretty but the dead saguaros and other plant life is unfortunate and dismal. That's nature I suppose. Worth a visit just to say you have.
Jake Patten
Good hikes. The front bits are a little easy and not too scenic (encroaching housing developments), but everything picks up if you're willing to hike out far enough. Rainbow Trail has a nice grade with good views at the top. Toothaker will take you out into the bush if you want to get far away from civilization.
James Hagans
I live close and it's just a Beautiful place to take the kids and play
M M
The park is lovely and the trails are fun. The visitor center is clean and stocked well, restrooms are clean, but the $6-$7 entrance fee keeps us from coming here too often.
Bhaskar Raj B M (Bhaskara)
A pretty flat 9.8 mile hike, in the Estrella mountain wilderness. The trail pretty much is tailor made for mountain biking. However the hike offers one amazing thing for those who rely on the limbs (like me) and that's, 'the solitude'. The ambience is amazingly filled with silence except the roaring race cars now and then on one part of the trail. However as I kept moving towards the other part, its just the screeching crickets, the wheezing winds from amidst the mountain creeks, the birds chirping and the howling pack of Coyotes that we could listen to. It's one good place for those who love solitude and are interested to experience and learn an unique geography, the unique plant combinations it hosts & the marble mountains.
Eddie Garcia
I love it! I'm 50 years old now I used to go there when I was a little boyI just noticed that they charge a $7 fee but I don't mind it I love it because it's away from the city and from the people it's a secluded little Park for you to be with your loved ones on your days off
David May
Great place to hike. Tons of great trails with differing lengths and elevation changes. We take our dog out and have seen other dogs and people on horseback. Great views of the west side.
Steve Vejcik
Well marked great place for a few hours to stretch get some movement in the limbs and enjoy the beautiful Arizona outdoors. My spouse and I had been to a springtraining baseball game and it was the perfect way to end the day.

Kristine Duarte
Lived in the area for 20 years and just went to EMRP for the first time. It was a great time!
Went for a free archery class, beginning and then a tiny bit more advanced 2nd class.
Ranger Amanda was knowledgeable, helpful, and fun. So was the volunteer who is a certified archery instructor.
I think everyone had a great time learning & playing some target games.
Great for kids and adults.
100% would go again. Actually thinking about going for the next classes in May, which will be the last until October (too hot).
I'm also now going to check out the other free classes they offer.
What a fantastic resource!
Bring water and wear a hat. You'll love it!
Beth Bernier
Our first visit and a perfect trail for us seniors. The guide at the entrance gave us a map and recommended which trail would suit us best. Great views. We'll try another soon.$ 6.00 entry per car.
Jonathan Coffey
Awesome park with barley any people. Awesome for hiking around, relaxing or bringing the whole family. Because there are so few people you get to really enjoy the outdoors without the hustle and bustle of SOMO.

nushay ginn
Such a beautiful park into our surprise the recreational area for the kids were very unique with spiders cactuses and different animals for the kids to climb on
H S
totally underated, lightly trafficked with amazing views. once you cross the mountains to the other side, the size it's hard to explain but you're in a complete vastness totally surrounded by the desert for as far as the eye can see with no sign of humans. try the toothaker trail, it's about +7 miles total out and back.
Martin Ruiz
Nice 6 miles hike, mostly flat. Easy hike.

It was a quiet place to stay. We dry camped and had the place to ourselves for over a week! They have "grass". The park was kept clean and they had a water spicket so we had plenty of fresh water.
SnafuSoFauq
The views are nice. There are a good range of easy to hard trails. The reason I'm only giving two stars is that there was a lot of horse and dog poop on the trail.
Laura Hill
Great hiking trails, good restroom facilities in the park. Only $6/per vehicle to get in. Update: it's now $7/per vehicle for a day pass.

noneya business
Watch out for the talking horses that hang out here. They roam around in the desert and talk. They are massive and they will just go up to you and talk your ear off. You can't out run them, you can't out power them, they will follow you everywhere and talk to you. They are very irritating. hope you found this funny.

Before Bonnie and Clyde there was Irene and Glen. Irene Crawford Shroeder, The "blonde menace" was captured in an 8 hour gunfight by a posse of Pima Indian Scouts, Maricopa lawmen, and local citizens using cars, horses and a small plane in 1930 in the Estrella Mountains where the Gila river meets the Santee. She was the leader of a gang that was followed with high profile media coverage across the USA from 1929-1931. She was taken back to Pennsylvania to stand trial for the murder of a law enforcement officer. She was the first woman to die in PA, the fourth in the nation, in the electric chair. Very colorful story occurs right there.
