Great wooded campground by the shore. Big pool with gradual depth (babies could go in one end and 8ft on the other) the pool is also open later than most campgrounds around (8pm)- impressively spotless bathrooms- friendly staff in the office/store- $6.99 for a decent bundle of firewood. we were here on a week night in late august $60 for the tent site for 2 people and $6 per kids so it cost 72$ total for us. Volleyball court by the river and you can rent canoes-kayaks- tubes. We will be back!

Really nice campground with a lot of things to do for our children. I was very impressed by the haunted trail. It was REALLY good for only $5! Everyone there was friendly. Our site was big and right next to the bathrooms which was a huge bonus! We will definitely be back!

Great campground! A few families and ours have be coming here for camping over 15 years. Great family owned campground. These are getting harder to find anymore and the Horsey family shows their care and concern for the campground. GREAT modernized bathhouse this year. Nice wooded sites. Some sites a little hard to extralarge trailers in, but they will help if needed. Many fun activities on holiday weekends. Good stocked camp store.

Fun river canoeing, not deep so it's good for kids to learn on. Hands down the best Halloween haunted walk through the forest with lots of staff participating. Scared the living daylights out of my kids!

Stayed in a cabin. Very rustic, but everything we needed. Loved our 2 hour kayak trip down the winding river. Pool was very nice. Lots of trees around campsites.

Loved kayaking here. I brought my own kayak but for $5 the guy brought it to the drop off site and gave me a pass to come pick it back up. Clean water. Alot of trees down though but great day trip with alot of friends

The Winding River staff was awesome. The campground was very well kept up and clean, and the other campers there were quite neighborly. We're planning another trip there but for a longer stay. Its a nice campground, bathrooms are well maintained. Ty( to the cleaning lady) The river is hard to navigate due to downed trees...I would suggest kayaks or at the very least get a paddle for your tube.

Everything you'd expect from a campground. Located in a great spot. The pool was nice to cool down in. The 2 hour river ride had quite a few obstacles, but was refreshing. The campground offers multiple activities daily for kids and/or adults! Winding River will see our group again someday!

All time most favorite campground! We go multiple times a year! Love tubing down the river! Can’t wait until our next trip! Great place for the kids they have a playground and pool. River that they drop you off at and you tube down to the camp ground.

We enjoyed our stay, close enough to the beach that we made the trip almost every day. My boys enjoyed fishing and swimming at the campground. The campground itself was so quiet and really peaceful with really nice people. The front was so busy every single weekend, which is great for the campground itself but it made it hard to leave and come back with people always standing directly in the road. Also the front staff seemed to always be so busy with so many people in the store signing waivers and asking questions or paying for their tubing experience that it made it hard for the campers to go to the store for their items or even to do the advertised crafts or events. All and all that is my only complaint. We really did enjoy our stay and everyone we had interactions with were really nice.

We went canoeing on the winding river. It was beautiful. I only wish it was less crowded giving it a more serene feel. The river was perfect temperature and the canoes seats where cozy. I would return for a drinking trip with friends again.

Great way to tour the natural beauty of South Jersey! A real lazy river to kick back and sip on your favorite drink. The tubes are comfortable with a cup holder! I recommend the bottomless tubes for versatility and the cooler raft to hold your belongings. Also bring a paddle to control your direction to avoid from "sticky" situations. Constant shade to keep cool, leave your worries behind.

Our family has camped there for many years. They have a pool and there is a river for tubing, kayaking and canoeing. Plenty of activities for everyone of all ages to do.

even though I live a half hour from this place the second time here for our anniversary it was the best I never stayed in a rv it was a cool experience the staff was great thank you very much to the husband and wife who took care of us we will be back

The wait time to get your ride up to the drop off is a little long but worth it. Nice relaxing and refreshing cruise down the river. Excellent day!

Great place, family owned small business. The campground is a clean, decent set up. We are in the middle of an extended stay and can’t say enough good things. Very peaceful mid-week, weekends are busy but tolerable. Our site is very large, well shaded. Amenities include a large pool, arcade, boat launch, new pavilion, camp store (with all my favorite ice cream) and kayak/canoe rentals on site. River and Atlantic County Park, Acagisca are short walking distance. Seasonal sites are well kept and clean. Highly recommend Winding River, we’ll keep coming back!!

My family and I went tubing here for our second time. All the staff were nice and the property and equipment were well maintained. Had a tube get popped while we were on the river and all I did was call and they had me meet them on a small beach clearing out in the woods and brought another. Price was fair and best of all my family had a great time.

It was my first experience tubing…if you have little kids it is a bit difficult & can be scary so I would def recommend rope to tie together. As other reviews noted, there are obstacles (it’s a natural river, after all) but my kid thought that was part of the fun! Keep your feet up & it makes it easier, someone else suggested a paddle which I would absolutely try next time. I said next time bc I’d do it again! (With alcohol and no kids 😉) Thanks so much for a great day.

Just visited for the first time this past weekend. As my family planned our trip we made 2 phone calls for more information, both were quickly and politely answered. Packing anxiety was released learning they have an on-site store open late with just about anything we could have forgotten (hot dog buns, ice, and wood!). We arrived after dark and had a trailer to navigate, resident campers jumped in to help before we even realized we needed it. The bathrooms were sparkling clean and we felt welcome and comfortable. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Review of the Tubing adventure they have here: Super fun time! You can spend the entire day going down the river. The whole thing is at your pace. They take you from the campground to the drop off in a nice large passenger van. They were very nice and accommodating even for a large group. The river was a ton of fun as well plenty of places to stop and hang out and a rope swing as well. For anyone who might have bad knees or trouble walking there is a slightly steep hill at the end you have to walk up to get back to the parking lot. It overall not bad at all!

We have been enjoying our summers here for 21 years. There is a reason we keep coming back. Kayaking and swimming in a dog friendly, family-oriented paradise. Not to mention the best staff and the best owners. The restrooms are cleaner than most restaurants. I’ve heard some reviews with negative comments about navigating down the river, but that’s like renting a car and complaining to the rental agency about potholes and flooded roads. Lol. Watch the weather, ask questions and the great WR staff will give it to straight. Be safe, enjoy this paradise and God Bless!!!!

Just got back from a three day weekend from Winding River Campground. Had a great time. Even though the staff was swamped with kyakers ant tubers they moved everyone along quickly and efficiently with a smile. We took the three hour kayak trip down the river and couldn't have had a better time. Can get a little challenging for a beginner but that makes it all the more fun and gives you something to talk about later around the campfire. Thanks for a great weekend!

I will go 3 stars on this review - but please read whole review before you direct business anywhere else but Winding River. The place seems really nice but I had a poor experience. First, parking was great and we were able to unload our kayaks right near the front door of the office and then we were able to get a ride to the mouth of the river. We rented 1 tube, and brought a few more tubes. My wife and I had Kayaks. I HIGHLY advise you rent the tube, or bring a really good quality tube of your own. The gentlemen who loaded up our tubes was a little mean to us. He had that impression of being very passive aggressive with undertones of threatening. Very little communication, make you feel dumb the whole ride to drop off the tubes. He was mean when helping us load everything as well. He drove a little unsafe and hes not a guy you trust your life with. The river itself is beautiful, but not very maintained. There is a lot of trash in there and a ton of pointy edges. 2 of my friends tubes popped pretty early on. The bottom of the river is very sharp and dangerous so we had to basically try and swim, float and walk back which was brutal. We are all cut up and hurt from this. It seems a bit unsafe so not have any means of communication on how to get back to the road or the campground. No one comes by in a boat to check on people or keep order. There is a lot of trash left all over the place for this reason. I feel as though a call signal or a way to get in touch with the campground would have been a safe idea. When we got back, the employees were a little rough. Took a while to get some direction on how to retrieve our Kayaks from the lake, but once they explained it, it was easy. I guess that closes my review. If you have a kayak and have some experience doing the river tour - its a great place. if you are new, or a kid, or cant swim very very and have a tube - I'd advise against this. Please only see this review as my takeaway from the river tour. Everything else is probably very nice.

We were there on the very rainy and cold memorial day weekend lol. The office staff was awesome. We thought been needed propane because our gauge said we were low. We asked the office if they could fill it.. they said no problem and charged us to fill it. The nice gentleman brought it back to our site and said he doesn't think it needs to be filled and gave our money back, we said we weren't too sure because of the gauge.. he was kind enough to go top it off to make us feel better. The staff seems to go above and beyond for the campers. In spite of the rainy weekend everyone seemed to have a good time. Because how the office staff treated us with such kindness and went above and beyond for us we booked for another weekend in July (hopefully no rain!! )

Very friendly staff. Affordable fun for the family. We went tubbing. The river was very twisty and there were tons of trees and logs to maneuver around. The entire adventure was about three hours. We had a blast. A few scraped shins, but only to those who regrettably were not sitting in the tubes. Overall we had a blast, and WILL do it again!

Just got back home from 3 nights of camping and couldn't wait to write this review. This was one of the best campsites ever! Level, large and clean, with full hookup! Tons of shade. Staff and campers are friendly. My husband and I enjoyed our peaceful weekend very much. (even our dog had a nice time making new friends) Actually thinking about seasoning here next year! Thank you Winding River!

This was my family's first trip in our travel trailer. We picked Winding River because my wife had visited there when she was a kid. From the ease of making the reservation to the nice and helpful staff, everything was awesome. It was clean including the bathrooms, the pool was very nice and of course the river was nice and cool. We will definitely be making it one of our yearly trips.

I love this place. I've been coming here since i was a little girl and i just took my daughter for the 1st time Sunday. The ONLY DOWNFALL is that i got a ticket for EVERYONE'S children being in a lake that wasn't even my own child. It says NO swimming, but NOTHING about sitting or ankle deep (child ankle deep) child and children was not swimming. No one was. I was extremely upset because I have been at this lake since i was 5 years old. Besides that, I LOVE this place and its so beautiful and relaxing, is such a great time. I will continue to come here, love the fact that this place is still running and is family owned. Just don't get how without a sign of NOT being able to be in the water at all, and it just says no swimming, how is ONE person of 25 adults and 11 children, i got the ticket for everyone and my daughter who was ankle deep, but was rinsing her hands off to eat. Again, is quite, relaxing, just a great time there and the fact that it is so clean and EVERYONE is so friendly.

I go to this campground for kayak and tubing trips. The river is easy to navigate and easy for beginners. It's also a plus that you end up at the campground at the end of trip making it easy to load your kayaks. If the weather is nice during the summer, I suggest getting there early to avoid a long wait to be given the ride to the beginning of your trip.

Family owned. We rented kayaks here. They provide the kayaks, paddles and life jackets. Transportation is included. We choose the 3 hour trip (1,3, or 5 hour trips). They took us upstream and we ended our adventure at the campground. It was a great time. I loved being able to spend time as a family with no technology!

My girlfriend and I rented a trailer for a weekend getaway. This campground has beautiful nature scenery. Great staff. Clean restrooms and rental units. The kayaking was so much fun. They drop you off and paddle right back to the Campground. It is a perfect get away for those who enjoy great outdoors.

After a prior disagreement about not getting refunded for the campsite deposit because of the incoming hurricane, Winding River campground staff handled the situation great. After receiving a full camp ground credit for my deposit to be used by July 1st of spring next year, I can't wait for a great weekend. I have heard wonderful things from friends and family.

Just reviewing the tubing section of the campground. The front desk customer service was great...the trip down in the van was ok... I feel that they try to squeeze way too many people in the van... Kinda in an unsafe way... But it is what it is. This tubing trip it filled with downed trees as of June 2018. I know it's not there river but if they make money off the river maybe they can put some man power to cleaning up the river. (There are other people that make money off the river that could help too) I would not recommend this trip to someone with kids as it will take some maneuvering. If you wanna try tubing somewhere new ... The experience will be so so. Oh last thing ... It isn't explained when you buy the rental but you float until you see the dock for the campground.

Nice size sites for tents with water and electric on site. They have accommodations for larger campers and motorhomes with hookup for sewage. They also have washer and dryer on premises. Friendly staff. Nice campground for tubing, kayaking and canoeing. There is a pool on premises.

Rented tubes from the campground to go down the Great Egg Harbor River...river was great. Parking was cramped at the campground and we had to cram 18 people in a 15 passenger van. Means to an end i guess but not safe. Nice location on the river though. Can't attest to campground amenities

Fun police are in full force. Don't bring anyone with volume control issues. They'll be asked to leave. Sun's down? So is the volume on your radio... However, if you want a quiet weekend, there are cabins and campers to rent for a reasonable fee.

Great place to rent tubes and kayaks from, the river is very shallow and has alot of underwater debris. Wear water shoes and stay in the tube and you’ll have a great time. Recommend leaving the kids home for this adventure

Really great camp ground. Pool, fire pits and more. However if you go tubing be prepared there are a ton of obstacles in the river and the current can be strong in some spots so be ready to work as team to get back.

Gated RV park keeps some of the riff raff out but not your high end resort. We didn't have any problems during our visit but I think we got lucky.would stay again as it is very close to the dog beach in Somers Point.

This is just a fun filled Campground to spend time at...situated in the woods, the river is so much fun for canoes tubes or whatever. There are nightly activities for one and all-Winding River Campground will not disappoint.
