Very nice place to go and enjoy a quiet evening with your family and or girlfriend. My girlfriend and I always go there to unwind and just walk around with my girlfriends son's 🐕. Such a beautiful place to go any time of the year. If you are looking for a place to relax for a little while, RIFLE CAMP PARK is the place you want to go to.

It’s very convenient they have 2 dog parks and they are big nice parking but it could be more because sometimes is not enough. There is one dog park for small puppies and the other for big dogs but people don’t respect that big dog mix with small one a lot of accidents could happen my small puppy almost get smashed when a 60 pounds dog jump on the top of her . I hope people understand and read signs . There water and potty pages.and play ground and around the corner there is a path rooms for dogs owners.i hope u get the pictures

The yellow and red trails are a great morning hike. Just under 5 miles for both. Lots of wildlife and great views! Heart attack hill!

Great park to visit with family. Top of the mountain has an observatory and there’s a chain link fence (safety first!) . If you can look past fence, you can enjoy view of city. Cool trails too.

I love bringing my dogs to the dog park here. Additionally, there are some nice trails to walk along that are well marked and easy to traverse. The only thing is that I wish there was more access to the nearby reservoir on hot days. Still, is a very nice area to visit at cooler times of the day.

Such a great new Kids playland park with so many different activities for the kids in gated wood chip shaded area. Lots of space and parking & a bathroom that is open 24/7! Shaded by huge trees. There really is no better place in all of northern New Jersey that I know of compared to this playground! It should be advertised more but for now I'm glad that we are one of the few that know about it.

Real nice park with about 4 parking lots throughout. A dog park for large and small breeds is also in here with water fountain, benches and dog run. Two kiddies playgrounds for them to have fun in. Picnic area and walking trails make this place one of my favorite parks to visit, gets crowded in the afternoons and weekends if the weather is nice. Be ready to walk for 3 hours just about if planning on taking the yellow trail, wear proper shoes too, lots of roots and rocks on some paths. The view over valley rd towards the east is spectacular.

Overall, a decent park..context: I lived in NY long enough to know what a great part looks like. This park is large with an assortment of trails which are in decent condition. Some mushy areas but overall a fun easy trail. The main water attraction or body is off limits technically since it seems to be part of the water supply to Passiac county. Saw some deer and an entire family (I think!) Which was cool. Nice views of NYC from top of RED trail and some nice spots to hang out on yellow trail back. Personally I walked on trail about halfway and hiked my way across to the other and went back. It was fun overall and worth it if you're you're within a 15-20 min drive. Otherwise, odds are, something local is equal or better. I had fun tho.

A great park in a densely populated area. It's amazing that you can escape from the noises of life and not have to drive hours to have it. Super views of NYC as well.

You can see New York City from the observatory, and the trails are very nice to walk. We didn't make it to the lake, but even the small pond has wildlife, and the cliffs surrounding it are fun to climb. Final plus: when we went in autumn, it was so fun to swish through all the leaves on the trail!

Hidden gem in Clifton, the outer loop is about three miles and gives the hiker a good mix of inclines and straightaways so you can run and work hard to get up the hill all in one visit. Beautiful views of the sunset if you time it well.

Great place. Similar to Garrett Mountain, but not as well known which means much fewer people. Lots and lots of wildlife to see if you know where to look: deer, birds, squirrels and chipmunks, toads, and crawly critters. There are places to picnic, to grill, to hike, small shelter structures, and even an observatory, though it's not currently open.

Rifle camp is a wonderful place to observe nature and the beauty of the surrounding area. There trails, an observatory, a pond, picnic areas, a bird trail and much more. Less crowded than the neighboring Garret Mountain, it's a terrific refuge for solace and families.

it's a very quiet pretty park. I have met a couple of deer. It makes me feel a good for the day. If you like less clouded in high season for relaxation purpose, I would recommend to go there. Before you make a relax, better make sure for the location of the bathroom.

Beautiful and serene park. We took the yellow walking trail and had it to ourselves. Lots of deer throughout, as it is very quiet and peaceful here. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun walk through the woods. Lots of parking is a major plus too!

Beautiful time I expend here, I saw many deers and a huge hawk but the most amazing thing was when I got to the top of mountain and saw the amazing view of new York, I just couldn't believe how great it was. Thank God for it

Ah, Nature! The other day I was here for a quick hike near the pond and saw at the start of the fitness trail no less than 4 people just sitting in their cars, engines running, windows up and AC going, heads down in their phones. Maybe it's some Pokemon thing(?). If any authorities are enforcing that NJ idling law and have a quota to fill, you now know where to go...

Close to home but still secluded enough to camp or hike. Has a ton of wildlife - deer, turkeys, and even some hawks. Plus the observatory atop the hill is mostly free and has very little lines.

Started at the base(Valley Rd.) opposite the entrance(Rifle Camp Rd.) and went all the way up. Quite a workout but great cardio. Would not recommend trying if YOU have a bad throat. Great views once you get to the top!

Nice for running or hiking.. There’s colored reflectors on the trees for help. The red trail is easier for people with kids or who like to take a nice walk. The yellow trail is tougher/longer you will definitely need running shoes.

Ample amount of parking, option of only two trails yellow the longer one about three three and a half miles versus the red one which is about 1.6. we went on a Friday afternoon and only saw a few people there so great during this covid-19 time with your trying to social distance.

It's a great park to take walks in the wood trails and to have a family gathering and cook out. It feels safe because of the security driving around the park. But if there's one thing that needs to be added to make it an even better park, would be swings or a play area for children and outdoor exercise stations for those who love to work out like myself with my fiance.

It's a very simple park with nothing special in particular but has some pleasant and easy hiking trails. There is plenty of parking throughout the park road and at the end of the road there is a Nature center that is open on weekends. Nearby there are also great views from the top of the hill. With Manhattan being visible in good weather. The reservoir at the bottom of the hill is unfortunately not accessible and has a fence all around it.

Rife camp park is a great place to get some fresh air year round. There's plenty of parking in many different lots and the trails are nice and serene. This place gets less foot traffic than the nearby garret mountain reservation, but it's just as nice. There's also plenty of wildlife to liven up the place.

One of my favorite parks in the area, I've been doing hikes and off trail running for years here, great spot to see some wildlife, deer, Turkey, birds, etc... no dogs allowed kind of sucks but is out of concern for bird watchers which I do respect. Great spot to take the family for a bbq as well. Just please keep the park clean, carry in and carry out save the hassle of garbage overflowing. Respect the park and the little land these animals have left. Please dont feed the animals either just makes more trouble for them in the winter when your not there to feed them anymore... thanks alot enjoy the park!

I've been visiting Rifle Camp Park since I was a child. It's a quite park, with a few miles of wooded trails. One of the trails actually has a portion that overlooks Clifton and the surrounding areas. One thing I did not know until recently was that the observatory holds star gazing nights. Some friends and I made it to one of these star gazing nights, and the view was just incredible considering how close we are to NYC.

This is a nice park separately located from where the deer Mountain parkers. It is located closer to where the 7-Eleven is across the street. There is 1 Main Rd. that traverses the whole park although there are several places you can pull off and park in parking lots. Hiking here is a Good distance as there are many places you will see along your hike. If you start at the bottom you can take all the way up along the fence line by the reservoir which will eventually take you all the way up to the edge of the cliff where they have built the condominiums. There's also a pond here and an observatory at the very top. Among the things you'll see other than the regular birds you also see turkeys and deer. ( Especially since Clifton in its greed for taxes has allowed half the mountain to be torn down ruining the habitat for the deer.) The observatory at the top is a great place to visit and look out over Patterson and Clifton. The observatory is something I've never actually been in as it is never open when I go up there. There is even a meeting once a month or so for UFO interested people.

The park has some nice, hilly, not too difficult trails for hiking or trail running. Trails are equal part dirt paths and single track. The outer loop of the park, the yellow trail, is about 3.1 miles, with around 400 feet of elevation gain.

The trail from the top of the mountain is great. My kids and I really enjoy it. If you're behind the observatory, the city view is perfect. Quiet and pleasant.

Very interesting park. The old and fallen trees are untouched. There is a lot of picnic areas with benches and walking trails. I haven't been on those but it might be safe to bike here.
