Reviews of Madison Square Park
Alex Gonzalez
I come here to enjoy the view and people watch 😂😂😂. I love how the season had been changing in front of my eyes. Fall looks beautiful here with some amazing views. I’m from a small island but this park is cozy in my heart ❤️. The have a beautiful dog park and it’s always filled with the most beautiful dogs. It’s the best time 🙌🏻 …
Chloe B
What a beautiful park and area to walk and take a brisk stroll. It’s right across the street from the Flatiron building. I became alive in all the rich culture , the beautiful cold weather , and history of new world Vs old world at Madison Square Park . It’s a nice place to people watch and just take in the city culture and have a moment with nature . I highly recommend coming here for a walk in the park . It’s a dog park also and a nice book store close by .
Alyssa Cox
V chillll lots of grass to lay on, easy skate or bike through. Breakfast taco truck and a decently sized dog park! Very pretty pond in the middle. Was under construction when we went but there was still tons of room to roam

Nice place love nature and outdoors. Heard some singing and this lady is also on Instagram. I’m from the mountains so carriage rides and horses we did not do because very expensive but I understand it’s a tourist area. I would bring a picnic or your lunch and enjoy some areas or there’s actually restaurant in the park.
Yves Chiong
Went for a stroll at night and was just sitting by a bench. It's very relaxing at night! When the gates were closing, the security guard notified me where to get out when I wanted to. There are also very romantic lights and a fountain which is perfect for a date! ♥️
Justine Lemmens
A very peaceful place, perfect for taking some rest, talking with friends or just enjoying the weather ! Even when the trees haven't bloomed yet, the view is still so pretty. There is also a spot for dogs and it always is cute to watch them play together!
rachel co
Such a lovely park!
If you love dogs, They have the BEST dog parks divided by size. It's absolutely relaxing time to just watch the cutest dogs climbing on the hill and play with each other.
The only down side is that big side is closed due to the construction right now.
Maddi Petro
My favorite park! Love sitting under a tree, eating some food, reading a book, relaxing when I have downtime between my errands. There's a shake shack, but I always eat on a bench or on the big lawn with the art exhibitions. The animals are cute and nice flowers. Just so calming compared to other parks
Eloy Martinez
Lovely park in the heart of Manhattan. Perfect to catch a breather during a warm summer day or to sit down and read for a while. It’s close to many sights so also a great spot for tourists to visit.
Bonus: has a doggy park with lots of cute dogs running around.
Suresh Jayaraman
Amazing Park. Great location in busy Manhattan!
Visited during holiday season and the park was Decorated with Christmas Tree and lighting. JUST SPLENDID.
The Ambience is awesome. It's an Urban oasis, plenty of seating area, calm and quite.
Visit without fail!
Hollywood
Nice park with a great view on the flatiron building (although it was covered due to construction works). The cherry blossoms in April look beautiful and give this small park a really nice touch.
Roan Knowles
Stunning park. One of our favourite spots in NYC. Truly an urban oasis - you feel away from the bustle of the city, even when the park is busy. Feels strange to look up at the Empire State Building from here. In a perfect location next to Flatiron and by Fifth Av/Broadway. Seeing all the dogs in the dog run felt magical - we tried to go every morning during our trip. Plenty of seating and bins, and there's a fountain, a few statues and a grove area that felt like a woodland too. Clearly a lot of effort goes into maintaining this park. Visit even if you're not staying nearby!
Heli Mistry
beautiful park to visit, it has a lot of attractions. it is right in front of flatiron building. must visit in summers obviously such a huge vibe, lot of sun and activities to do. plus there are restrooms and dog parks around too.
it is one of the attractions for tourists.
there is easy access to trains and food around. it is close to 23rs street. there is a dog park too. this park is accessible, and also beautiful atall times.
Thomas Ploner
Short: Park and the flat iron building - nice place to catch a breath while running around the city
Long: Was not one of the biggest highlights on my list but still a nice intermezzo to catch a breath. Some nice restaurants, the well known Madison park (partially closed while we were there unfortunately) and the famous flat iron building. It's not so easy to photograph as you stand quite close to it and therefore easily get those falling lines (building seems to tumble over), I'd rather step back and do a panorama as in my attached image.
Balfour Smith
Beautiful urban park. Enjoy the greenery, the people, and the odd juxtaposition of the sounds of nature and the sounds of people and machines.
The dog park is coming soon!
Elora Gnassi
Nice park, and perfect during a sunny day for pick nick and rest. When I have been there there was even a jazz band playing. Amazing
Marina Gonçalves
Walked through the Madison square park on a Saturday night and I have to tell it's pretty quiet in there and it has an awesome view.
Recommend passing by it, it's almost as if you are no longer inside Manhattan.
Steve LeVine
A great little park to enjoy watching people, puppies (there is both a small and large dog play area) and friendly squirrels aplenty.
TGB
Cute little park in midtown area. The dining spot with shake shack/ eataly is cozy and convenient. Pretty crowded most of the time during summer and a bit dirty, but overall is a great place to take a walk or to sunbathe in the sun!
Antonio Gonzalez
I love this park. It's near my office and it's wonderful for an after lunch walk. There's always an interesting seasonal art installation. The dog park is fun to just sit and watch the dogs 🐕 running. …
j defendis
A lovely area to relax and people watch. It has a popular (heavily visited) dog park, and watching them was just as enjoyable. **Located across from Eataly, so grab an espresso to a go, a sandwich and a treat and make it an impromptu picnic.....
Wall Fish
Pretty decent park, not too spacious but there are some lawn options. Pro tip, get Di di pork dumplings nearby 😇 yummy.
Noise wise it’s pretty chill too, for being such a small park surrounded by streets the traffic noise isn’t too wild surprisingly. Nearby transit options. Not a lot of sunny spots due to the amount of trees and buildings (depends on time of day).
Nick K
A nice little park to have some fun and break. I can tell all the dogs love the dog playing area. Enjoyed my 15 minutes break there.
Ekaterina Lanas
Amazing park. They had great dog park there and even got an energy reading by some Chinese people there. Very cool. Highly recommend this spot.
Lance Dukes
Met someone nearby at Burlington. We shopped then I simply followed my nose and wandered here.. Need to accidentally get here at least once a month or more. Lots of lovely sights
Brian Bernal Sanhueza
Another NYC park you definitely need to visit. No matter what season, this park is in a very special location of NYC. Enjoy what the park offers and it's surroundings.
Jack Holden
Nice little park, dog park too. Shake shack on one end. Got to sit and eat and listen to a jazz trio play. Only reason for 4 not 5 is all the construction.
Calum Morrison
Historic park in the Flat Iron district. There's always lots going on with a busy dog park to entertain pooch and passers-by!
Handy for 5th Avenue, Broadway, the Lego Store and Eataly.
Helen Lin
Smells like pee but does have a great enclosed dog park area. One for small and one for big dogs. Good place to sit, pretty small space.
Aaron Prohaska

Cute little park with a playground and dog park. Always nice to see greenery in the city.
Adati Tarfa
Lovely park! There are sitting areas and not much else happens but it is a serene place to visit.
Kyle Cournoyer
The best park in Manhattan. Immaculately maintained, cute dogs, and the original Shake Shack.
Paulo Sousa
Love the place. I'm happy that people have this place to escape from city.
Malik Mazhar Sheikh
A great place to relax, enjoy the trees and views of Flatiron building. New Dog run and children's playground diversify the park.
Karn Seth
Beautiful park with wonderful areas to relax, a nice playground, and great views of the flatiron building and empire state building. Great place to take a break and rejuvenate!
Zarry Bizeva
It was empty on Saturday evening in February so we made friends with the squirrels. You have a beautiful view of Flatiron. And of course the OG Shake Shack is here.
Rafih Halyma Abiola
I love this park...so many people and good food around here. The place is always clean 👌..
Nice place for photographs , picnics and connecting with friends …
Daniel V
Very nice park to walk in. Plenty of seating all around, the benches are pretty comfortable. The park is located to a lot of restaurants, fast food places, and even a pharmacy.
Good luck trying to find a public restroom though! The nearest one might be at Union Square park. The bathroom located on the park grounds is rarely open or is out of commission.
Otherwise, a pleasant place to spend mornings or evenings after work.
Chelsea Hayton
Cool little park in the middle of the city. Lots of people walking their dogs and hanging out. Neat that there is a shake shack with seating areas. There was a worker picking up trash to keep it looking nice.
Cody Jones
Full of people doing fun activities with some good sites around the park.
Kateryna Tsyhankova
My soul, my heart, one of my favorite places in NYC! We took food and had breakfasts here almost everyday. We went to this park in the evening to listen to music and relax after the day in the city. I just love it. Love the location (you can find whole food just 5 minutes from the park).
Asha Singh
Lovely break in the city with green space and wonderful people watching.
Natashia Shields
Living in the middle of the city having this lovely park is heaven sent. Needless to say, Archer (the pup) is also a fan. There’s tons of benches, the summer is great for hanging out on the lawn. Shack shake is awesome & the dog park is cool too. It’s a nice ‘oasis’ for us.
Judith Brown
I love this park! I feel safer in this place than any other in the City. I live on Riverside Drive and have made a trip....other parks may have more activity; but this park is not crowded or isolated. I can sit and read!
Quezia Q
This place is so nice. Loved to eat shake shack at the park.
Lynn C
A small but beautiful park. The hydrangeas are incredible in mid-June and the park provides great views of beautiful nearby buildings.
MH
A place where you can feel relaxed in tight New York. You can look at the flat iron
Lyndavegandoyle
Nice park with lots of toddlers running around. Plenty of dogs being walked about on a leash . Older kids taking lessons in martial arts. Adults taking boxing lessons. And couples sitting together. Plenty of seats available for relaxing. I always enjoy my time here.
Joy Chen
The location of the park is really one of the best in NYC, but the management team doesn't seem to be taking a very active/creative/friendly role in educating its guests and promoting the health of the park including serving its neighborhood and community. It would be great if they can learn from Bryant Park's management team. The modernized bathroom is good but it still needs to be cleaned and care for so it won't be smelly.
Yearim Leslie Yi
A small yet relaxing park.
Feel free to bring a picnic blanket and some food to sit around the lawn!
There are enough benches for seating, although they get occupied pretty quickly during peak hours.
Jean Broese
Fun stop, very pretty place!
mike mcdermid
Such a little Oasis in Manhattan. We always come here to chill and sit and drink wine (from shake shack). So central and right near the flatiron building, so lots of photo opportunities.
Débora Martini Kryvoruchca
The dog park is so cute!
Aneri Ladhani
Small little park in the city with great views. Very centrally located and easy to access. The views of the Empire State is spectacular and the walk to Korea town is very short. It’s also about 15-20 minutes walking from Times Square. Got some take out and had a little picnic at the chairs
Stacey Pryor
At this time there is some construction going on. However I really like this park especially during the Summer. A plethora of venues pass through as well as art pieces.
Satwant Kaur
Till Nov 2021, when you come to the Madison Square Garden, you will find this stark group of trees amidst the park’s lush greenery, like ruffled hair sticking out on a pristine haircut. It is a beautiful exhibit sure to draw your attention. Impacts you immediately. Well placed and well done to the artist and park. Thank you for reminding us about the thread that binds us all and why we have to protect it - nature.
Local New Yorker
Beautiful park! I had a great time hanging out here with my best friend. Lots of nice sights to see, and landmarks. You can see the Empire State Building nearby too. Wonderful place for locals and tourists. Highly recommend!
Nicholas Kardos
Nice small park to relax while traversing the city
Vinny Vincenz
how to go to the doctor's office on 26th Street? how to open window for an hour? haven't been at the park in a while. there's a great morning. not like New York City
H. Yas
This is literally my favorite area in NYC. There is so much going on that you can come here everyday and see a new store. The park is GORGEOUS and always well kept. There's food inside and outside of the park. I love going to Eatly across the street, getting food, and having a picnic at the park! The fountains are so pretty and the flowers are colorful and beautiful as well. I always stop here on my trips to NYC. Definitely a must see!
Setpheap
Always love this park. I always walk pass or sometime stop by having my early dinner there that I get from somewhere else or shack burger 🍔! 😍 …
Justin Latham
I love this park. I used to live nearby and would come here all summer. The trees are beautiful and offer a good amount of shade. There are art installations that are put up on the lawn. The lawn is open for the summer but is usually closed the rest of the year. There is also a little dog park which is great for watching dogs. There are also a pretty good amount of benches.
Brenda Bendigo
Medium park, you have the area foryour dogs, kidds, surrounded by beautiful flowers and different restaurants to eat. You can also see the top of empires state building from the park.
Joey Cera
I'm near this park daily. Nice spot for a sit or walk. Almost always a seat available, even during peak park hours. Art installation in the center changes pretty often to keep it variable. Would be a good spot for a group meetup. Near a ton of connecting subway stops.
Gustavo Guzman
The park is beautiful. The Shake Shake local in the park it makes super cool. Always will be one of my favorites spots in the city.
Owen Stewart
Great vibrant park with lots going on to see. There was lots of live music and performers hanging out on the day we went. Big open areas of grass for picnics and sunbathing too. There are some public toilets and benches too sit on to enjoy the atmosphere. There’s also a place to let your dog run about and play.
Bea Eros
Like the parks in NYC, this one and Bryant park the most, not the Central park, tgat was disappointing. Good walk, nice view all over, close to every amenities. Recommend👍🏙️🌄 …
Benjamin Millar
Nice park, cool squirrels. Awesome buildings around make it a picturesque place to hang out. The Shake Shack does awesome burgers & beer with plenty of outdoor seating. Small dog park on one side.
Khalida Nurilova
Such a lovely park during all the seasons. During the holidays, it's dressed up in festive lights which is such a treat for the eyes.
sharona lee peterson
Fantastic park!!! My kids played for hours in this park!!
It’s gated has water fountains water for the kids to splash in and lots of kids to play with. There are no public restrooms at this park.
I even think there were Police patrolling this area... I can’t really remember because we went to a lot of parks this day. ‘Park hopping’ if you will.
Tanya Dovzhuk
"Bad guys last forever, but love never dies" was just one quote etched on the tree in the dog park, conspicuously signed TS quite close to wear a certain pop sensation lives, before the surrounding tree bark was rubbed out, perhaps by a stingy anti-fan. The park is a welcome daily escape for the usual run of joyous canines that come. The pups all recognize each other and greet each other with hearts bursting with love, and the owners briefly greet each other too. A picture of a man reading by the tree, normally a memorial to many deceased dogs whose names are engraved on it, went viral, after someone noted that the great white dog behind the man appeared to be more interested in reading his book than in playing with the other dogs.
Takashi Harada
Lovely family friendly little park in the middle of one of the finest city of the world. Easy access from subway, bus and many entrance to get in. Hear the music, watch performance sometimes, and grub a sandwich from the Shake Shack.
Mahshid Far
A park with a symbol of Madison inside . And view of some towers. You can walk there and see a different atmosphere of parks.
Rob Cooke
Excellent park with dog run and extra section for small breeds, a Shake-Shack and plenty of seats to do lunch outdoors. Soothing fountain and weekend activities abound, on the corner of the Flatiron Triangle and next to iconic Metropolitan Life Building. Landmark flagstaff and statue of James Madison, 4th President of the U.S.
Oli “OlidayTours” Grieb
Great park with a great restaurant!
Aditya Grover
The Madison Square Park is a place which I visited just for fun, I never knew that this park would not be an ordinary park. It has been designed in such a way that every corner gives a different sound therapy. Different time of the day also matters. It's a place where I found the original New Yorkers and I was the only tourist. I waited this place during the night at first as it was the closest green patch near me and honestly it was worth the visit. There is also a cafe where I ate a sweet dish which just melted in my mouth as soon as I took the bite.
Early morning walks or the late night ones are amazing.
Yusuf D'Almendra Qureshi
Nice to have a bit of greenery amongst the tall buildings, but it is very small and underwhelming- to the point where I actually missed it! The grass areas are closed off "for the season"- so I assume that's all winter as I was here in late December. There are a couple of stands nearby to buy food and relax whilst taking in the views.
Plum Health DPC
This park has great views of the Flatiron Building from the southern edge of the park. There’s also a two dog parks! One for little dogs like dachshunds and corgis, and one for big dogs like bull dogs and golden retrievers. Great pupper watching! Also, we were there in April and saw some freshly planted flowers 💐 and some budding trees. It made for a beautiful scene!
tony sudsangiam
The park is the best greenery At the flatiron district ,there is the original ShakeShack with the very long Wait line on weekdays, the huge dogrun is so crowded especially in the weekend, the public seat on the 26th are quiet better to sit back not very crowded like Broadway side
Marco Coelho
A really lovely place, definitely one of my favorite parks in the city. After Central Park, even for its size, Madison square is one of my favorites. Especially great for walking with kids or dogs. Great dog friendly area with specific dog area.
Nick Greenquist
Great place to walk before work. Great views of the Flatiron.
Jonathan McHugh
Great Park! Plenty of benches and seating areas, even during peak times. The OG Shake Shack is here, so that's what drives a lot of the foot traffic. But on the other side there is a playground for kids, nice plants and statues, and a gorgeous fountain. I love being able to come out here and eat on my lunch break!
David Joshua Ford
Best park in NYC! Well maintained, good surrounding shops like Eataly, Whole Foods. Perfect mix of inner city park + green space to unwind.
Adrian Evers
Lovely park in the middle of such a busy section of Manhattan. I have a lot of good memories in this place. It is lovely to simply sit on a bench or lay on the grass and relax. A great place to visit if you come to visit. Nice to play table tennis in the middle of the park as well.
Pritesh Gudge
Great location and usually lots of dogs playing around the fountain
Matt Mike
Great spot to kick back and relax with picturesque views of the trees and iconic buildings surrounding the area such as Flatiron and the Empire State Building. The area is especially pleasant when accompanied by some live music.
Matthew Oliver
This park has plenty of shade as well as benches for sitting. The two fountains that are where the foundation of the World Trade Center's Towers used to be are fully completed, and incredible to take in. The whole park has the smell of water which is very refreshing, and relaxing to sit ,and admire the architecture.
JOSE MANUEL GONZALEZ MENAYA
Dreams come true at this location 😍😍😍 …
William Clark
Small well situated park in the middle of everything. Stopped in and sat at an open bench for a little while and enjoyed the scenery and people watch. Only thing that I didn’t like was the amount of home challenged individuals laying on the benches. NYPD needs to do a better job at moving them along to a not so visited area. Other then that, thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Plenty of shops and stores to visit around the park too.
min ric
We visited during the Veterans day parade 2021. The vibe was lively. Parks could be cleaner but we always love visiting here. It’s near everything. A must visit when in the area: Eataly. MSP has no public restrooms. Eataly nearby will have everything you need including a clean bathroom!
Jeffrey Usher
This is a really cool park. The park is really close to the Triangle Building. There is the original Shake Shack, they have a dog park, and a playground for kids. Overall, the park is a staple of the park. Lastly, is near the N and R train.
Sara Swinehart
Great public space. Busy on weekdays. Lots of seating available. Great spot for lunch picnic and people watching.
Sarah Hartman
An unexpected green space downtown with well kept grounds and a few defining architectural moments.

Visit: July 12th, 2022
Absolutely lovely little green space in the center of it all. Lovely clean stone pathways, a small dog park, plenty of spread out seating, trash cans, and small green spaces good for small gatherings in the center of the hustle and bustle of transportation surrounding Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, broad streets with consistent traffic, monolithic buildings with health services, businesses, diverse cuisine and fine dining and long-standing historical landmarks. Cycling is not allowed in the park but there are designated bike lanes around it to keep cyclists safe from traffic and allow access to the park. It is also accessible and no fee is required for entry. Police present. Came to simply enjoy the park with an old friend in the evening to rest a bit and catch up, loving the magic of park and summer with its fireflies, longer days and all of the types of dogs people took in its designated area to socialize. Very relaxing.
cicchiamichael MAC (Philo)
Small oasis in the middle of MidTown Manhattan. Very nice space but is quite small. There are a few benches around the park and great city views from the benches. Lovely sculpture here.
Matthew Leavy (Matt)
Offbeat fact: This former cemetery still has bodies buried below. Nice oasis at an intersect of concrete canyons. Plus it has a Shake Shack. There are benches along the 23rd Street sidewalk for people watching.
Sonja Haynes-Schardt
A beautiful park to wind down and take a nice stroll in. Lots of squirrels to watch. We were in NYC for the Pride Parade, and they had some flowers in the park coloured in the colours of the rainbow flag and other LGBTQ flags 💜 …
Hannah Rose Schonwald
Love this park! And currently there is the ghost forest exhibit which is very beautiful in a haunting way. Unfortunately the lawn areas were closed after sunset. But the ghost forest looks like a very peaceful place to sit.
German Parra
One of the best parks in the city to unwind and enjoy a Gelato from Eataly in the summer days or a cup of coffee in the Fall.
Dimi
Love this park across my office. However, some parts have been under construction.
Laura Galbraith
Dog parks and nearby benches for those without dogs to admire the playful animals
Ajay Nair
A green park with a lot of trees in downtown New York city! Has a well kept children's park too. Currently some parts are undergoing renovation but still a nice park.
Davis D. Janowski
I worked nearby for a decade. A regular walking spot when I needed to clear my head during a break. Also a favorite lunch spot w/colleagues. Often there are public art installations on display as was the case today, where I got to see Maya Lin’s Ghost Forest.
John Z
Very nice park surrounded by historic buildings such as flatiron building.
Stanya Blakely
Very calming and peaceful. Just sat and watched the local dogs frolic with their pet pals.
Te-Sheng Lin
Very nice and square with a lot tall buildings surround it. I saw a lot of tourists with professional cameras. I always stop by when I had chance. I really enjoy the Herald square park, the Madison square park, the Union square park then the Washington square park. Love them all.
Henk Dreessen
Nice and cosy green area in the middle of New York. Not that crowded, good to unwind. Definitely a must see!
Also at night it is nice to walk here. The park itself is surrounded with several good restaurants.
Somehow it feels spacious here and you have room to breath so to say. The distance to Empire State is roughly one mile which is a easy walking distance and it gives you the opportunity To straw on 5th or 6th Avenue as well.
Definitely a recommendation to walk over here and enjoy your lunch here in one of the restaurants rather than doing this around Empire State.
Eylul Zeren BH Installation Inc
It’s usually nice to place walk, sit, eating lunch or just passing by ❣️
Jasmine Rivera
Lovely park, water fountain was cooling.
Abigail Colin
Small, clean and very nice park, ideal for taking a stroll alone, with kids or dogs. Has a small playground with swings and run around maze with slides, another one with sand to do some digging😊 a really nice water fountain, benches all along so you can rest, a beautiful canopy thank to the tall trees that host many extremely friendly squirrels, birds and pigeons that would allow you to feed them. If you feel hungry just cross the street to get a refreshment or a delicious treat or tasty dishes from an international variarity offered by the food stands with outdoors sitting to comfortably enjoy your meal.
M B
A great park with a lot of action. They sell beers and other booze nearby that you can bring into the park. Lots of young people, impromptu jazz concerts, a dog park, and views of historic Manhattan buildings. This picture was during the "Ghost Forest" art exhibit
Nikhil Joshi
A small park with plenty of seating in the middle of hubbub of NYC. Unlike the central park, there are hardly any vendors around. The only reason I give it a 4 star is cause there is no public toilet available and you have to find a nearby Starbucks.
Kiki w
Park was very lovely. I enjoy my morning stroll watching the birds and squirrels.
Raylan Damion
One of the nicest parks in NYC. it's a pleasure to come here and sit and watch the world go by. Nice view of the Flatiron Building and the surrounding area is fairly tourist free
Alexander Schneider
I love my local park! Great dog area, playground for kids, and the original Shake Shack (pro tip: their website has a live feed showing how long the line is). The grass is closed at certain times but there are always benches to sit on instead, and there’s always some kind of public art installation.
Roger Bultot
Wonderful park which often features art installations. Currently it is Maya Lin's "Ghost Forest".
Aniko Magyar
Recharge your zen at this oasis within the asphalt rat race which is Manhattan! This compact park offers some respite on comfortable benches (some inscribed with donors’ names and epigraphs). There is a fountain, statuary, ShakeShack and a playground (these last three with their own reviews on Google’s Maps). The Flatiron building points at this park’s southern tip. Mind you that at first glance the park may appear untidy since no leaves have been raked, but that is actually a measure to improve the park’s ecology.
Nina Fox
Beautiful relaxing atmosphere in the center of the city. Mini dog park and always changing environment. If you plan on going to Shake Shak be prepared to stand in very long line ! Bring your own picnic and take a rest admits the Urban Jungle
Lisa C
This is a great NYC with plenty of benches to enjoy lunch. There are now tables and chairs right outside the park in a prominad and lots of great lunch spots nearby. There is a children's playground and of course ..... The original shakeshack.
Alexandre Papanastassiou
A corner of quiet, peace and nature in a busy area of Manhattan. Most enjoyable to take a break, have a drink and read a book.
Gena Lord Chinea
Nice local park to sit and have lunch. Sometimes there are activities going on in the park such as musicians playing.
mindlessbuddha
One of my favorite small, bustling parks. Free wifi, great people watching, awesome views, close to so much food and shopping.

What a place contained a dog park and in and out burger smack dab in the middle of the hustle and bustle of NY with the iron building just off to the side. Phenomenal place to chill with a coffee and company.
Javi
Lovely change of view in the hustlin'and bustling city plenty of benches around to rest on and even on a rainy day the canopy of trees keeps most of the benches dry the center pond really pulls the entire place together nice for a rest before continuing on
CS Mo
We try and go visit Madison Square Park whenever we're visiting the area. My daughter loves the tire swing and the slide. I love the multiple benches and tables!
Also, it is very close to the Lego store, which might be a bonus or a great detraction, depending on the day!
Lila Botero
This park is family friendly. An oasis in the middle of the New York City. Beautiful trees that provide relief from the sun.
Leanne M
Love this park, beautiful with scenic views and lots of trees and benches. Great place to relax for a bit or to sit and eat lunch
Kenneth Tam
During the summer time, when lines are long they were nice to hand out a cup of water for everyone. However, their fries were expensive ($4} for a tray with only 8-10 fries. There was nothing special but the burgers were good.
Gustavo Mustafa
Very beautiful park located in the middle of nyc. Must go.
Harikailash Gopalakrishnan
Loved it... The two towers are awesome with flatron building beside. The park is awesome during the summer and it haunts you during winter. Fall is the best season to enjoy for perfect photoshoot sessions and other fun activities. You can find food trucks around during summer. This place is lit with different lights during Christmas 😍 …
Farzana Khan
Beautiful in the spring/summer time! Lots of benches to admire nature. Shake shack is also located here if you want a bite. Many other food places close by too. Dog park is also here.
Maximus Meridius
Great little Park, ever since they read of the dog park it has been really nice bringing my dog there to run around in the afternoon
Indre Ra
Cute little park with lots of benches, cute fountain and a few food vendors near by. Great place to come enjoy your coffee, meet a friend or just sit and relax.
Charles Martin
Five stars for the changes in this park over the last decades. It was a rundown and seedy hangout for dealers and the homeless and now it's a handsome, welcoming place to sit and enjoy noble trees and connect with the revived Flatiron district and it's eating place scene. Maya Lin's cautionary exhibition is on now.
Sakari Maaranen
A relaxing little oasis in the middle of the busy world
Mark Torres
Nice place to enjoy the day out while the sun is out. Good place to meet up with friends and listen to the occasional music plays or take kids out to the playground. Though keep in mind that the epidemic is still out and about, so wear masks and other precautions.
V Rider
A beautiful little park to have a walk or sit and enjoy the views and people. I wish there was a restroom.
Kara Connolly
Love the dog runs here (they have 2 - a big dog run & a little dog run) it's always clean, love this park in general not just the dog run.
Dion Khan
Lots of the park is still closed off due to construction... Shake shack in the middle of a park? Win!
Maximo Cardoze
My workplace used to be on 27th St so Madison Square was a good place to blow out some steam before getting back to business as usual in New York watching people and tourist walking up and down, the dogs set free on their playground or the occasional work of art displayed on the lawn.
Em
Parks are my go to places in big cities and this one did not dissapoint. Beautifully green and quite peaceful, even filled with locals and tourists alike.
Ali Vidler
This is my favorite park in all of the city. It's super underrated. There are always events happening here and art installations. Yearly, there are different parades that start here. There are also concerts that take place on Madison every so often. I also love bringing my dog to the dog park. Standing in this park is really beautiful because there are so many beautiful buildings to look at.
If you do a 360 degree turn you can see the Empire State Building, the Flat Iron building, Broadway, Madison Tower, Metlife building, New York Life Building, Credit Suisse, and more.
There is also a Shake Shack here with a queue you can never know the length of. You can sit on a bench and eat or there are tables there to sit at. Just make sure the weather is tolerable before making the commitment.
The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because you can't really go sit in the grass because they keep it fenced off to protect from be trampled. Sometimes in the summer they open the grass, but the dog park is a small win!
lingaesh a
Grt place at the centre of the city , has kids play area and also for dogs .
Located at the centre of the city opposite to flatrion building .
Food joint "shake shack" located in the park itself. Nice place to hangout on leisure time
Kirsti Menna
Nice park for animal lovers: a fenced area for dogs and a population of squirrels, which are larger than their North European relatives. In addition they are very tame, extremely pampered and somewhat overweight.
Sándor Bokor
A nice park with a Shake Shack. There are some tables which are busy during lunch hour.
Krafty Kre8tor
Always a a lovely place to stop by even in passing with nice art exhibits such as these. The details of the art exhibit is the brochure I included.
AMMAR AL AMRI
Have a break and grab a coffee or tea and read a book
Mario Rivera
My favorite park in the city. It is super convenient, lovely to hang out in, and has a wide variety of wonderful restaurants in its close proximity.
Maritta Harff
Lovely place to sit and watch. Flat Iron Building in front of you, art around you and round the corner the best fast slow food ever "ESSEN", I would highly recommend it!
Eric Esposito
Nice dog park with plenty of bench seats to sit, relax, and take in nature.
Abdallah abu ghalyoun
Opposite the Flatiron Building is this peaceful hidden gem. A beautiful little park hiding art. A great, clean, well maintained peaceful park, probably overlooked. Some great alternative views of the city. Give this park some of your time. You won’t be disappointed.
Taylor Wisler
Wonderful park, feels like a friendly neighborhood spot.
Anne Bradford
Always a lovely Victorian setting in which to recharge. We had a delightful conversation with the installers of the new exhibit, very spirited and interesting! It brought us out of our covid fatigue.
Rafael Cortez
There's nothing like grabbing some Shake Shack and enjoying a cool summer evening at this park. If you really want the full experience... skip the tables and chairs. Bring a blanket and make it a picnic. There's also a playground, a dog park, art installations and great photo opportunities of The Clock Tower, The Flat Iron and other iconic buildings. Not to mention the many nearby places to eat, shop and play. It's a great starting or ending point to a good day.
Daniel
Lots of sun exposure, great view of the Flatiron building.
Deborah Schwartz
Beautiful day, perfectly maintained park, incredible art installations!
Daniela de Lezaeta
Very nice area. The park ist very alive and feels save
Andrés Rodart
Small park to visit your family or to take our the dog by yourself. There is a shake shack where you can eat, but the area has a lot of rats, so I would not recommend sitting near the bushes. (Some areas under repair in 08/2022)
Gillian Graham
Had a wonderful half hour visit this afternoon during my walk. Listened to avtrumpet player and watched several members if a gym team practicing their poses and skills. Fabulous to see groups of folk relaxing gathering and having fine and fun times again!
Anthony Belotto
An unforgettable meal shared with a dear friend. The one aspect of eating here that was not perfect was the parity that I felt lacking in the meal for those with restrictions. I have eaten at other Michelin ranked restaurants and have always felt that I was not short changed when it came to my meal (vegetarian and gluten free) - unfortunately I did leave with a feeling that I did not get the culinary excellence I expected at what is the number one restaurant in North America.
Matthew Carroll
One of the best public parks in Manhattan for contemporary art. Popular dog run with decent viewing. Excellent place to sit outside for lunch.
[Summer 2022 note, there is some reconstruction of the pathways in the SE corner near Shake Shack.]
Samuel Zusmanovitch
Another great park in NYC. A great place to stop, rest and eat at the first Shake Shack stand.
Luciano Ryuichiro Kohmura
Nice and cozy park at the middle of a huge city like Manhattan. Lots of squirrels.
Krishna Ap
Had lunch at a Lebanese restaurant. Good food . Enjoyment assured Later on had extensive walk around Madison Square Park. From 5 Avenue end toFlatiron building then Park avenue returning to East 28 st. An aura of great feeling. Worth the outing.
Carlos Cortez
Fun park to walk around, there is a playground area for kids, plenty of different stores and places to eat around the park, there is a Whole Foods right in front, as well as stores such as DSW, there is a Barnes and Noble store on the other end of the park and the Irving Plaza is a block away....
T AA
Beautiful park in New York City. Great for kids they have an area for children. Beautiful green space with nice views of sorrounding buildings.
Devin Brown
Great view of the Flatiron building from this park. Madison Square Park was very nice to spend time and relax. Also cool views of the empire state building from this park.
Johnny Chan
Situated in the Flat Iron district, which is known for its uniquely shaped buildings. Good eateries here include Eataly. A few blocks away from the Empire State building. There is a nice dog park here with dividers for small and big dogs. What a great idea.
Nigel Walsh
Great place to be in good weather. Can get busy.
Annmarie B
Love the iconic park in the iconic neighborhood near fifth avenue and the famous flat Iron building and district.
Carol Gonzalez
It went quick! I passed by this Mexican Restaurant, and I saw that they advertised Margarita 🍹 $5... only Wednesday - Sunday....I was on my way back to take the train 🚆 and I saw some people getting ready with the tables outside and I decided to try my good luck and I asked them, if they could serve me just a Margarita, off course they told me yes we can! BUT you need to seat! In a super nice way! She said come on! And so I did try Margarita on the rocks with salt and tajin 😊 I promised Daysi that I will be back with friends to enjoy their food and OFF COURSE their margaritas for just $5...
It was super refreshing!
Jane Cook
Probably takes first ace in my NYC park choices now. Loved it! So peaceful, great sights.
Todd Mendez
Beautiful park with areas to sit and have a meal and soak up some sunshine!!
Imran Brown
One my favorite parks in nyc. There is always some art exhibition in the middle. Some grass to sit on. Tons of benches and the original Shake Shack sits right there. You heard right! The original one it’s actually outside. There is great Indian food near by in curry hill, eatly next door, a couple trains the F is not too much a walk from it. It was always a spot to eat lunch, especially if you work near by.
Jan Pullmann
Lovely park in downtown Manhattan …
The grass looks greener from far but the benches are comfy as well
John Campbell
Beautiful beautiful park in the middle of Manhattan. Great place to chill out and have a coffee. Great view from here of The Empire State and The Flat Iron buildings
Brian Henry
Great place to bring lunch and a good book! And there’s always an interesting art installation to explore.
Tola Famakinwa-Omoniyi
Lovely bit of greenery in the concrete jungle of New York
Emily Teel
Beautiful and clean park. A little slice of serene tranquility. A great place to just lay and relax or have a pic nic.
Satish M
Nice small park near the Flatiron building with a great view and often there is an art exhibit to experience too. Bonus is the Shake Shack in the south end of the park so you can enjoy the park as you snack and look at the Flatiron building. Popular location with the Instagrammers too :)
Bunji Fromartz
Have seen wonderful films in the evening, taking midday breaks after physical therapy, sneaking across the street to Eataly to check the bargains (yes they have tiny sales,) and avoiding the grease burger from shake shack. Yes the fat is where the taste is but not if it does down your shirt and on to your pants. Good people watching too.
Ian Abbs
Oasis of calm. Will be perfect again when renovations are finished. Often have free live music and interesting art installations.
Ingrid Young
Great place to sit and listen to sounds of the City and watch some very playful squirrels.
Cristina Herrera
A perfect place to stop, rest and relax after a long walk. Eventhough the Dhake Shack keeps the place busy, it doesn't feel crowded. Love the view of the Flatiron from there.
Andrew White
Beautiful well maintained park in the middle of New York City. lot’s of different plants and flowers. Great place to enjoy nature.
Irayda E. Tejeda R
A cool place to walk, rest and enjoy the fresh and delicious products the days of the farmers market. It's also great for street photography.
Kenneth Gray
MSP is a wonderful oasis in a bustling area. Great for kids. dog run, and peace. We do our T'ai Chi and Qigong exercises near Shake Shack M - F from 8 - 9. Feel free to join us doing the Micro-Tiger Form. Photo of the desk/tree artist and his dog at MSP art installation 2022
Edrees Elkayed
Lovely place to take your kids and grab a bite or drink, so peaceful and relaxing
Stefan “Captain-Chief” Thoerner
A quiet oasis in the city
A nice place to relax, to have a drink and a snack, to meet people.
I am here whenever possible...
Robert F
This is a nice park on 23rd Street , up to 25th, near 5th Avenue in Manhatttan. There is also a nice playground here for kids. The park itself has areas for sitting and picnicing .
There is a Shake Shack fast food resturant near the entrance to the park and various other fast food resturants close by. The subway (R, F, 6 train) is not too far away. Parking can be hard to find but especially on the week end can be found and there are parking lots not too far away if necessary.
Madison Sqyare Paek is by the standards of New York City Parks not too noisy orcrowded- I have been here several times .A visit, while you are in the neighborhood, is recommended.
Heri Mevel
Very nice. Trees 🌳 were amazing. Lots space to lie down and sit. …
Cédric
Nice Park with view to the Empire state Building but grass closed for the season
John Neild
Nice park, with separate area for dogs. Very close to the Flatiron building.

What a beautiful place in the middle of a busy city. Love this place
Monique Douglas
This is one of my happy places!
Shake shack is at the entrance and the view is abasing!
Roger Guan
Great posh park. Has a nice doggy park with heaps of space. Pond is drained in winter, but the space is still good. There’s a shake shack in the southern end.
Bridgette Sabio
One of the most popular parks in midtown esp for tourists to visit, it's surrounded by so many places to eat and shop, Want to enjoy the night out? Jay' Zs club 40/40 is 1or 2 blocks away from the park, it's one of my favorite parks to chill and enjoy either by yourself or with friends, family or colleagues during lunch.
scott wells
Very nice park. Large area of tables and chairs near Shake Shack. Yes. Shake Shack IN the park. Lots 9f fast food on 23rd across the street. A nice place to eat.
Jamie Rhymer
Nice, peaceful spot to rest during our adventures in NY. Coming from Virginia for the weekend, weather, atmosphere really pleasant.
Steven Nunez
Quant park in the middle of a bunch of shopping areas. Sat down on a bench, ate some pizza, and saw some art. The evening brought some interesting people cueing my time to head to the Hotel.
Rasmus Pretorius
I always sit in this park and there is some food building there too, closer to the FlatIron building. It is fun to go there watch all the dogs and people just go by their lives. The Fountain is off during winter though.
Douglas Dimon
Well kept park with frequent art exhibits. Great place for a date.
Gligor Tashkovich
A friend and I had dinner in the newly-renovated bar area on 20 January 2022. When I came through the revolving door, a very pleasant young woman greeted me and offered to take my jacket. She also asked me for proof of vaccination and photo ID. My guest (who had arrived minutes earlier) and I were promptly seated.
This special occasion restaurant has a fixed tasting 100% vegan menu -- a larger one in the main dining room and a smaller one in the bar area -- and both come with optional wine/spirits tastings with each course.
In the bar area, there were six courses plus dessert and six coordinated -- wine/spirits tastings.
Importantly for a meal with so many courses, I am happy to say that my experience was well-timed and the cadence between courses was perfect.
The server checked for food allergies upfront and the kitchen graciously made small changes to accommodate preferences.
Of course, everything that was served was flawlessly presented, creative, and delicious. There seemed to be a different set of servers for each course and it was obvious that they each cared a lot about what they had brought to our table.
The only criticism I had was that many wore masks that were flat against their face and this made it consistently difficult to hear them present and explain each course. If they had been wearing tented KN-95 masks instead, the sound would have travelled substantially better.
At the end, we were each presented with a small signature bag containing a jar of house-made granola for breakfast the next morning -- which I am happy to report was delicious!
Steve Ciani
Good food. Nice setting. Will come back next trip into the city
Adam
Such a nice place to come relax. Took my puppy to the small dog run and it was perfect for him. Always clean and full of fun people to watch :)

Khadiga N
Another beautiful NYC park you must visit
Riccardo Amadori
A green oasis between skyscrapers
Kavita G
This park is a little oasis. Nice for a stroll in the evening where you can get an ice cream and sit and listen to the street musicians.
Lynn “Chompette” M.
It's a lovely park with seats and tables. The competition to find a seat with a table though is hard at certain hours. The shakeshak there was also pretty good, very popular location with a long line. Cookies and cream shake was worth it. Parks wifi requires lots of patience for pages to load on a laptop. Over all, it's still a lovely place to sit, study, and catch up with friends. Oh and the rain smell is my favorite part 😍 😌.
John Hewitt
Lovely park with great landscaping.
Devon Hillary (Mike)
This a familiar place to me, because back in my college days, I often used to travel on my way home by getting off from the subway and walk through this park to catch an MTA express to Wakefield, Bronx. I liked getting food from the Shake Shack (despite how somewhat pricey the food was for me).
Additionally, never have I ever visited the Officer Moira Ann Smith playground during its open hours, but I would like try to visit there sometime, especially on warm and hot days, though.
man s.
Amazing place to visit in the sunny day. In the spring and summer time, there are pop up food stalls with all kinds is delicious food and drinks of cuisine from all over the world available to be purchased ti bring to the park and eat while sitting on the grass enjoying the sun. This is also the place where the very first SHAKE SACK opened up shop. The main shake shack is still in business here and some time the queue could be long during lunch time and on weekends, when the weather is nice.
Mark LoGiurato
Terrific park to stroll, bring families, relax, enjoy the scenery and grab a bite at Shake Shack!
Ben Kramer
Love this park. Always has an interesting art installation and surrounded by great architecture. I come here all the time and love that it’s only a few blocks away.
Iwona Adamczyk
Lovely green area in the heart of Flatiron. Very busy around lunch, but a nice break for the hustle and bustle of NYC.
Les_June_ Grant
Great neighborhood park. Clean well kept. Great place for hanging out and on certain days some good live entertainment. Home of the original Shake Shack. But the dog park is a must visit. Love meeting new pet owners especially othe dachshund owners
Meriam El Mansour
Great ambiance, super nice sunny and warm day to sit in the sun and enjoy.
Karrim Randall
A relaxed environment where good vibes, music, energy and food is easily accessible.
Pedram Nick Aryan
Small park but infamous for two things ... the “friends” building and ShakeShack. It’s a nice place to sit down and have a coffee and a chat with a friend or grab some delicious burgers from Shake Shack. To this day, I still think this is the best branch and pretty sure it’s the original one. Lots of coffee shops around the park as well as well a large department store across the street.
German Guevara
The first Shake shack is there, next to Eataly, view of flat iron, a fountain and chill park to hang out
Ben Cole
Fantastic art. Lots of seats and a good kids playground. They are working hard to make it a fantastic park, they have great local projects to improve and bring the community together.
Alison Kan
Nice place for a walk or to sit on thr benches and talk. Also, there's a little dog park, so you can bring your dog or watch the dogs play!
Claire Crowley
Views of the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and Flat Iron building. Always a park bench available for sitting and enjoying the tree covered landscape. Also has shake shack.
DARNELL WALKER
Nice park. Kid friendly, pet friendly. Wheelchair accessible.
Carmen Daniel
The open field is nice in the summer to relax and get a tan while the kids can run around, play a game, or kick a ball. The playground itself it's no big deal, it can get over crowded and dam right dangerous. Not much swings, you have to wait for your turn. It's no big deal. Only because of the open field. But it seems as though they're not sure what to do about the park. There is always construction, always a path or two are blocked off, I've never seen a park gets a make over like this one. It's a turn off. I wouldn't recommend this park for now.
Damir Tadić
Legendary Park in downtown Manhattan🌿🌲🌳 …
Sonalodpics_93
Clean park, nice to go do some yoga, there’s a shake shack, nice views as well
New York Mickey
On Christmas they have gingerbread house display. Also, the original Shake Shack is located in this park. It’s a small park but you’ll find there a dog run, squirrels, red tailed hawks and rotating art exhibits. During spring the park is filled with flowers and you can capture great photos of these flowers with the Flatiron Building.
Sergey Gulyaev

Great place for a kid to play safely. There are several play structures and some water to help on hot days. Beautiful location, too!

One of the more underrated parks in NYC. Or maybe not. Good seating, lots of art. Very nice people watching spot. If you are a tourist, one of the few places in NYC to take a load off and gather your wits…for free. And eating options are decent. It’s the realz NYC, at a bargain karmic price. 🤛🏽💗 …
Beth Ellor
Great place to meet up with friends, spacious seating, close to the subway, and well maintained.

fadi jiz
A lovely lively square
Stefany Melendez
Beautiful park. They have a mini dog park and a water fountain. They also have some nature art exhibitions plus some jazz musicians playing lovely music. The only down side is the lack of social distancing and people willingly crowded in certain spots.
jon muzzarelli
Great place to relax and people watch.
Frank Mancuso
Fantastic park downtown, with a Shake Shack included!
Stacey Pryor
Madison Square park is in transition again. However there is music, art, dog park and a place for a number of homeless and mentally ill that sleep there at night. They are building a better more efficient dog park right now.

An oasis of a park, beautifully planted, set in the heart of Midtown Manhatton - definitely worth a visit.
Annasha Ramdass
I used to go to this park with my friends back in middle school. It was The park to go to. I had honestly forgotten about it, until I found it again while working nearby. It's as beautiful and peaceful as I remember it, just more than before. This park is very well taken care of, in my opinion. And I can't wait to go back and enjoy the peace again 😌
Katie Y
Lawns are currently closed, but my son loves this park. Features a dog park that is well-secured and fun to watch. Close to everything. Green and well-maintained.

Another great NY Park that provides a place to relax in the city that never sleeps. With its very own Shake Shack and Eatetly across the road, it's a great place to explore.
Geraldine Glassman
This park is small and beautiful. Wonderful foliage & statues. Maya Lin has an art installation in the park called Ghost Forest. There's a Shake Shack where you can get food & tables & chairs to sit on to eat & drink. Very nice park to visit.
The Critical J
PROS: Very nice looking park, indeed. It has fields to relax on, a dog park, a children's park, a memorial of I believe Washington, a shake shack restaurant, and a beautiful fountain on the side of it. It's located in the heart of the Flatiron district making it a hot tourist attraction.
CONS: The place has no ports john bathrooms and the crime there rises at night. You're almost never allowed on the lawn and the people there tend to be rude
OVERALL: Nice spot to go to and to sight see, especially the Flatiron building. Just make sure you don't make eye contact with anyone and you're fine
Dj Stokes Jr
Great environment I just wish it wasn’t so cold
Laura McCormack
Really nice park, peaceful and relaxing spot.
Soumen Sikder Shuvo

Ana Lucia Varon Ocampo
Lovely park with lots of seating to rest and people watch
Chris Aldrich
Pretty park in the middle of some iconic buildings!
Chris R
Stopped by and had a seat and passed time, peacefully, on Thanksgiving while waiting for my next event to start. This park is in a great location and surprisingly quiet seeing as you're right on top of a subway, in front of the Flat Iron building and a busy intersection. Check it out and sit by the fountains or grab some Shake Shack
Larisa Litvinchuk
Great place to mingle with the tourists and hawks (spotted one right next to the burger place). Gingerbread house is a must see! Hop on a Swarowski bus while you are there!

I really like the location, as it is close to many stores. It has a great ambience, very chill. Shake shack on the park is very helpful when looking for food.

What a nice oasis! It’s a really nice break from the busy city. A beautiful green space. There was a concert here once when we stopped by, and it was just a nice place to sit and catch our breath for a few. There is also a dog park, and dog watching was entertaining. :)

Chill spot. Nice place to lay on some grass...a babysitters spot for sure
Andrea Petreri
Small and cute park on the 5th avenue, very close to flatiron. You can enjoy your time having lunch or just relaxing by reading books surrounded by squirrels :)
Maria B.N.
The dog park just re-opened which looks nice but a lot of people without dogs come in thinking it's a petting zoo or dog cafe.
Isaac Steele
Really great facilities here, was sat right at the back on the barstools which were very convenient having a little table area and food stall behind you as well as the bathroom but still had a great view down on the court even though we couldn’t have been further back. Very nice place, easy to navigate about and great, friendly staff there.

NYC City Authority should take action, who make the street and the walking Path very dirty and untidy. Please refer to the attached picture.
NYC City Authority should implement Law, to take action who throws Bubblegum on the road and walking paths.
Gareth Parker
Popular with dogs. Plenty of seats. Good views.
Bernardo O'Rourke
Loved it. Great to take a break and relax or have some lunch and clear the mind for a while.
Sean Faison
I love coming to Madison Square Park, they always have some cool art installations.
This park is great for it's location. It's near the Flat Iron Building and is a short walk from the Empire State Building.
I always enjoy sitting near the dog run and watch all the different types of dogs that get to enjoy the park too. There are many Squirrels in the park and I spotted a couple of reddish/brown grey squirrels. I have never seen them in this color!! They were all very inquisitive and looking for handouts. I would be careful hand feeding them as they are wild animals but every person I saw feeding them nuts enjoyed it and the squirrels were gentle in taking the nuts from their hands, but still... be careful!
At the southern end of the park is a Shake Shack. Yes, there's a Shack Shack right in the park. I haven't eaten at this Shake Shack yet as it is always busy and I don't feel like waiting :) I am assuming their food is really good because people keep coming back.
West of the park is the Flat Iron building, one of New York City's most iconic buildings. Enjoy the views. It is quite stunning.
Overall Madison Square Park is a small New York City park but it has a lot of charm and it's clean. I always stop by when I am in the area.
Cynthia Joseph
Love this park, very clean and just an eclectic variety of people who frequent there. From all walks of life you can picnic, meet new people, find or lose a friend, bring your family or a pet, listen to music or just sit and take in scenery.
You are surrounded by trees, squirrels and beauty that is NYC.
Stop by and take a squat and take in a view.

Loved sitting and just chilling at this place. There was a guy smoking a cigar in the park, but the park officials took care of it I'm a pretty timely matter. Lots of dog walkers going around, people having picnics, and just the hustle of NYC
Gizoom
Great this time of year. The first Shake Shack is in the park and plenty to see. Relax, read a book or just people watch.
Ted Barnett
A favorite city park. Plenty of seating, public art, and a Shake Shack!
Madison Square is full of history. If you’re interested, read “A Block in Time” by Christiane Bird which covers the 300-year history of this area in incredible detail.
M Miller

A beautiful spot to relax and experience some nature in the middle of the city. Surprisingly, a great place to see lots of different types of interesting birds, from hawks and yellow-bellied sapsuckers to ruby-crowned kinglets.

It was like something out of a movie. We were coming up thebstairs out of the subway to see we were by a beautiful park. Very beautiful and busy. LIVE BAND was playing Jazz and there was Tai Chi as well as filming. It was a beautiful day
Anthony N.
Nice little park in Manhattan with a playground. Fairly quiet (in city terms) and seemed to be a prime location for nannies and their wards.
Henry T
A nice small/medium sized park - not as crazy as Washington Square Park tends to be, and not as gigantic as Central Park is.
Sokie Lee
Beautifully maintained park. My favorite small park in the city. It has. everything...well kept grounds and plantings, children's playground, dog run, water fountain, Shake Shack smack in them middle of the vibrate Flatiron District.
Ed Burkey
Great people watching park. Had to wait there til was time to do the Harry Potter store 2 blocks away. An hour well spent.
Marcell B.
I have many memories here. The tree structure has been in place for quite some time now but I look forward to the installations as the arrive. It's a nice place to have a naturallistic (made up word) walk and it's generally populated. Anyway, enjoy.
Maria Ortiz
It was nice seeing dogs get along and some people where friendly it was clean

My review of the shake shack applies to the park. ...a very nice urban park except for the smell of grease at all times.
Jennifer Lafond

Justin van Schaick
Very lively park; a lot of people relaxing and enjoying themselves on sunny days. Sometimes some entertainers that lighten things up or a guy covered with pigeons.

Maude Swearingen

Leesa Yim
Love this park, as many other parks in the city it has a playground and a dog run, but also a shake shack. The park is always kept clean, nice to walk and stroll around, or sit and watch things pass by. There are plenty of places to sit, benches or chairs and tables, and a lot of trees that provide ample shade. Depends on the season the park is full of flowers, plants and beautiful flower trees. Love it!
Fatima Cruz
You can have an unobstructed view of the Empire State. Plus, you can sip coffee from Eataly here.
Claire K
Beautiful passive park in the area of the new Harry Potter store. Lots of seating under huge shade trees. If you are on the area, this park is definitely a nice place to take a walk or break.
Gareth Davies
A well maintained open space and landmark.
Nelson Steele
The park is a little oasis bursting with flowers during the springtime
Kay McFadden
"Thoughtfully curated" comes to mind when a visitor experiences the many options both active and restful in this small park nestled north of the Flatiron. There are green lawn sections to sprawl in; big and small dog runs to use or view; the al fresco dining offered by Shake Shack; art exhibits; garden plantings; and always live amusements, like giant bubble-blowing lessons for kiddies. If Central Park is Manhattan's grand vision of an urban oasis, Madison Square Park is an exquisite miniature masterpiece.
Emily Collins
Beautiful spot, though crowded during weekday lunch hour.
Ann Rivera
Love this park—one of many oases within NYC. There is something to satisfy almost everyone here—young-older kids, art lovers, naturists, foodies, historians, architectural lovers, even doggies. The park regularly hosts site-specific art installations— like the current work by Maya Lin. Families/young kids have a great playground & gardens. I could go on, but seriously… this is one of my favorites.
A. Sharif
This park offers a little bit to everyone. There's a play area for kids, a dog park and lots of benches for everyone. This park also has the original Shake Shack!
Udayan Mittal
Whats not to like about a park in the middle of a city? Beautifully landscaped, always something going on and a great escape overall
Nikola Panovic

Tasnia Rashid
A really nice and open park. It can get pretty crowded, but Shake Shack is nearby. You can grab a burger with a friend and just eat the park. People don't really bother you. Overall, a nice experience.
Shereese Maynard
I picked a beautiful morning to stroll through the park but by noon there were so many people there.
Sam McKenzie
Lovely ambience and service. True to its 5 star status. We will be back.
Ruwan J.
Madison Square is one gem of a walk in the park.
the best patch of nature in the Flatiron District...the park, itself, is fairly well-maintained from the lawns, seating, dog run, etc. relatively clean. the park is fairly big with lots of seating options throughout if you want to read a book, hang with friends, eat a meal outside, sip some coffee, people watch, walk your dog, etc. there's a lot of flexibility to for solo or groups. the park is walking distance from great food options, cheap fast food, solid coffee shops, Eataly, and a variety of retail shopping stores. it's a great place to re-energize from the stresses and din of the city.
and of course, the south end of the park is anchored by the original Shake Shack location that spawned the global burger empire.
for me, MSP is one of my post-run cool-down spots, a place where i can catch up on a book or some music, or gear myself up for battling through Eataly for groceries. there's always a mix of residents, tourists, and the homeless...somehow/some way everyone makes it work civilly. it's a nice thing to see in practice in city that seems to be getting more polarized by the minute.
aside from the obvious amenities of having a well-maintained green space in Manhattan...there is a regular flow of events organized by the park's conservatory.
it boggles my mind that more people don't visit or make use of any of the parks in the city.
Andrew Scott
Great green space, well maintained and plenty of seating
Monica Mazza
Quiet green space in the middle of the busy city. Often with live music

Frank Guillen (Frankguillen)
Amazing, clean and a lot ot people and pets.
Kelvin Ofula
A beautiful park with beautiful views of some of the most iconic buildings in New York. From the park you can see the Empire State Building and the Flatiron Building. The park is pet friendly 🐈 🐕 with areas designated for pets to play. There's a burger joint with one of the most amazing burgers I've ever had. It's relatively small so if you want a huge space to run or play with your pets then I suggest another park. There are numerous public benches where you can sit and relax.

One of the most pleasant, quite parks in the city provided you aren't next to the children's play area. It is an oasis in the city. Park is always clean and safe. Pretty quiet now without the tourists but full of locals to enjoy.
Zuhei Ortiz
Celebrating Pride Month even in the flowers😍❤💯 …
Brittany Compton
Love this square. Nice views from the park
John Riordan
Plenty of variety of trees, plants, people, and seating. A little construction going on on north west side. Don’t miss visiting Eataly that is across the street on the west side following your time in the park.
Mateja Tokic
One of the most beautiful parks in Manhattan to have lunch in or grab a coffee with friends. Bunch of people with dogs to pet, seating area, someone always performing some jazz, and good vibes all around. Real Manhattan feel, especially with the view of Flatiron.
H Z
Great place to rest and home of the original shake shack. There's always a line at shake shack. Great view of the flatiron here too.
Randy Voytas
Nice little park with vendors selling food
jose negron
Beautiful space to find a bench and relax in the middle of it all.

The place has quire a few swings etc for kids. Upkeep is satisfactory. Will be more useful to kids if a sift turf is laid for them to do more activities.

A part of The Big Apple. Madison Square Garden is used for professional ice hockey and basketball, as well as concerts, ice shows, circuses and other forms of sports and entertainment. It is close to other midtown New York - Manhattan landmarks, including the Empire State Building and Macy's.
George Hu
There's firefly's at night in this park! Plenty of benches to sit on and great view of the Flat Iron building.
Lady Altovise
Perfect spot to see Empire State Blgd
Dennis Santella
Nicely landscaped. Large collection of hydrangeas. Attractive, enclosed, children's play area. A very busy Shake Shack. The only restroom is a coin operated experiment that failed and often inoperative.
Xenia Bushelenko
