Reviews of New Orleans City Park
Kaushal Patel
Such a wonderful place with so many great activities all together in a vast space. My wife and kids loved it. The willow trees are beautiful. Can have some nice coffee in the park as well. Take the time out to go here. There is a sculpture garden that really has a nice veriety...very creative.

Nice place to visit in New Orleans away from the hustle bustle of the French and Canal street where we stayed. There is a street car going there from the canal street. The park is wide spread, a good cafe there and a few hundred years old oak tree. There were some ducks and birds around too. Good place to walk, relax and shoot some images too. If you like nature and greens, perfect place to visit. I went early in the morning and was bright and sunny.
Med Traveler
Beautiful beautiful park with so much space, so many lovely winding walkways, curved bridges, and a variety of gardens from botanical to sculpture to enjoy. Park benches, live oaks, water features, and of course the must-see art museum. You can also enjoy Cafe Du Monde, with a large patio seating area. And last but not least enjoy the lake on a rented Swan shadows paddle boat or kayak!
Brooke Zeno
My New Orleans City Park review is (shockingly) for the actual New Orleans City Park. I will review businesses within the park separately as applicable.
The park is HUGE, so we did not see it all. However, we were in the area of the Singing Oak and the lake. The park was lovely, with a variety of plant life. The walking/biking trail was clean and fairly well maintained. There was one low spot between the road leading to the Art Museum and the trail that had water over it. It has rained every day this week, so that my be unusual? We saw one piece of trash.
People were walking/biking/skateboarding on the path. People were friendly. Wheeled travelers kept to the right (as instructed by signage) and there was no drama or issues that we saw. The whole experience was pleasant (except for when I thought I could paddle a swan boat for an hour, but that was my fault and a different review. 😁

Kids had an excellent time. There is a small amusement park here called carousel park. Very affordable. ~$20/person. My kids absolutely loved it! Several fun rides very similar to a stationary state fair, except so the rides were included with admission. I do wish New Orleans took better care of the place and maybe subsidized it considering a big part of the park is city owned (outside the amusement park). It looks a tad aged, but even so it was totally worth the visit. They should advertise it more and clean up and make it a better known tourist attraction. Seems like a missed opportunity for New Orleans. The French quarters was fun and interesting for adults, but this place was a far better child friendly experience. They even had an additional “story park” that cost a little extra but is for toddlers and a little older who need parents to ride the rides. This is more jungle gym climbing and small cute houses that you read short stories at.
This place could do very well if hailed as a tourist hotspot for people with children. Come on New Orleans, get it together. It’s an excellent investment that could aid in excellent returns.

City Park is a beautiful 1,300-acre public park. Offering a wide variety of actives to bring joy to everyone! From curved bridges, golf course, a variety of gorgeous botanical, food & sculpture gardens, park benches, tennis center, live oaks with Spanish moss, rugby field, black swans, art museum, football/soccer/baseball fields, water features, beautiful winding walkways, playground, the list goes on …
Justin Trosclair, D.C.
What's not to like? You got the amazing oaks and a botanical garden that has beautiful flowers. There's a play area for the kids and a science museum. We even finished the day off with beignets. It's my first time going and I can definitely see why they had people running and bicycling as well. Plenty of parking made the trip easy as well.
Molly Clawson
The sculpture park was excellent. I enjoyed the variety and quality of items and they were in a very beautiful botanical setting. The path next to the pond was interesting, because it started at pond level and actually went below the water level as if it were a levee.
Frédéric Marcotte Piché
Nice place to ride a swan pedal boat!
Great art pieces throughout the park, fun and well maintained mini-gold course, great place to spend the afternoon.
Bring your water and sunscreen!
Zeynep P
Beautiful setting, look out for the singing oak near the art museum. The wind chimes are set to the pentatonic scale. Very peaceful. We were looking for a little something we could drive to and would cost very little. The park was perfect. We walked thru the sculpture park by the museum of art. Also went to Cafe Due Monde. Staff was very friendly and food excellent. Also was not as busy as the one in the French quarter which was nice.
James Demoruelle
It's absolutely wonderful! The good old New Orleans feel is there as well as the old oak trees that are over 100 years old I'm sure. Definitely worth a visit. Like other places in New Orleans if you fall in love with New Orleans it will fall in love with you back.
Sabeena A.
Absolutely beautiful, perfect in early fall and summer.
There is so much to see. The ponds, museums, playground , good restaurant to eat from.
Enjoy the train ride to the conservatory.
Just so much to see, just go with your family
Joshua Rogers
This is a wonderful park and a must-visit for your NOLA trip. It is beautiful and has so much to do. There is a childrens museum, and art museum, a sculpture garden, and amusement park, bike and paddle boat rentals and much more!
We biked around the park and wandered up on a farmers market on Saturday morning. It was a great atmosphere and had a great selection. It was a great time and easily something to do for everyone in the family.
Bobby Smalley
Unfortunately we were here in the fall so the botanical gardens were interesting but not as beautiful as I'm sure it is in the spring. It was a huge park. We didn't do a lot. We strolled the sculpture garden which was awesome. Found a great BBQ spot nearby.
Fernando Bayuga
A really cool place to visit while you're in City park. Some of these sculptures are very old. My family enjoyed seeing all the various pieces of Art. Make sure you stop by and get a French donut at Cafe Du Monde
Rod Gullo
Very nice City Park. Like most of the New Orleans tourist areas, it is kept very clean and manicured. We were surprised of the diversity of water fowl this time of year. We have never seen the Crested Ducks before, even though having lived and traveled all along the East Coast. They are very territorial, and a pair spent all of their time chasing and violently biting any other birds that came within 5 yards of them in the lake.
Zackary Conte
The Sculpture Garden was absolutely fantastic! There were a lot of beautiful pieces of art that really capture the city’s culture and history. The nature scenery was also very captivating and well maintained. If you’re in New Orleans this is a must see!
Alvin Lam
City park was beautiful. I wished I could have played all 18 holes if I weren't busy! The greens were very nice the views are amazing. The club house is very cool and has lockers and showers. The club house also has clubs for rental, they let me use the big Bertha set, even when I've never used those clubs, they were forgiving :)
Victoria Sutton
The park was beautiful. I had an amazing time. Definitely will be bring the kids next time. Parks and picnic areas. Rides food and wonderful opportunities for pictures.
Aynzley McLaughlin
This place is a huge Gem in the city. Garden's and kids land with a rollercoaster! An art museum and statute garden. Football and tennis spaces. Seriously a wonderful place for the whole family to enjoy. Don't miss it.
Eric Yang
Extremely large park, and there's something to do for everyone. Very lively atmosphere with rivers, ponds, playgrounds, a golf course, gardens, museums, and plenty of trails. No shortage of parking spaces whatsoever.
Dominic Birckbichler
Saw an awesome music festival here. Everything was well managed and there were plenty of bathrooms. The park also has putt-putt, an amusement park, botanical gardens, lake activities, a sculpture garden, a museum, and a kids play land, the list goes on and on. This is a great way to spend a Saturday whether young or old. Thank you for the wonderful times City Park!
Cale Grauberger
New Orleans City Park is a beautiful part of New Orleans to visit. There is a lot to do there. There is a Art Museum, a train to ride, an amusement park, mini golf and much more to do. I highly recommend stopping by and checking it out if your in New Orleans. The park is huge ...twice the size of Central Park in New York City.
Mick Dees (nomad.mick)
Loved this city park. The marshy, lake area is so pretty with the ducks and swan and Spanish moss. The park is huge and has lots going on there, it’s easy to spend a day there.
Sandra McLachlan
Take the trolley to the park. Pack a lunch. Enjoy the paddle boats. Grab a beignet at Cafe Dumont. Visit the art museum. So much to do, so little time!
Liz T
Beautiful landscape, lots of walking area and a cafe du mont on site. Filled with large Spanish moth on trees, resurrection plants, southern live oaks and even story land for kids. Great to relax and learn about plantation it was built on.
Illia Wen
Came here for Celebration in the Oaks on Christmas Day. It was not crowded whatsoever - to the point that I could go on a ride, get off then get in line again, and get to ride immediately again.
If you like rides, the ticket is pretty worth it. If not, not that worth it. I was expecting to see more light displays or something, but nothing amazing. Most of what you can do is just what you’d do walking around City Park anyway.
The ticket includes: free marshmallow for roasting and unlimited rides including the park train ride.
I think the park would otherwise actually be a great place to roam.
Bernette Lee
Great experience for children and adults. Snowballs were amazing. The train ride was awesome. The view was amazing, park was filled with scenery, playgrounds museum, amusement park, putt putt golf and more.
Davon A
Man this was the most romantic time we had at New Orleans. You have to do the Venice Italy like boat ride. Also the art gallery was very nice
Brian Mercer
Wonderful, large, unique and well developed green space. We recommend the sculpture garden if you have the time. A great way to end our stay in New Orleans.
Anandi Premlall
A beautiful and large public space today was designed similar to Central Park in New York City.
Anytime I walk through, I feel a sense of the northeast, particularly Prospect Park in Brooklyn as it's nestled in a community that frequents it. Plus there's the New Orleans Botanical Garden and the New Orleans Museum of Art right there.
There are lovely lakes with ducks, geese, nurtia, and swans. There are cobble bridges and secret little wooded areas. There are wonderful wandering walking paths.
The Live Oak trees are wonderfully spooky with Spanish Moss and stories of their own. There are Magnolias and Sweet Gums and Cedars. Lots of pine cones and prickly pickings. The squirrels will beat you to the magnolia cones!
Overall, a pretty clean and safe place to be all times of the day. Most people will greet you with either a smile or How ya doin? as you pass one another.
You can rent family bikes here as well as swan boats, and even a gondola with a paddler if you're feeling romantic. There's something for everyone in this public space!
Brett Heppler
Do yourself a favor and just go! Get away from the hustle and bustle. The workers, especially the front desk loved my popcicle shirt (Inside joke, hope they read this ;) We only had time for the children’s museum but it was well worth it. $130ish for two teens, two kids, two adults and a Senior.
Allie Graff
Absolutely incredible! The art garden is free to roam around. The park is so beautiful! Definitely a must see.
LEIGH PEEK
Absolutely the most beautiful park, hands down!! So much to see and do...from playing w/ the kiddos, laying around reading a book, eating beignets, fishing to even getting married!! Love love love this park!!!
Linda Bohart
This place is gorgeous! Lots of family friendly activities, trails, people were walking their dogs. Just beautiful and peaceful.
syeda smith
We went on the Bus Tour via our City Pass and this was the drop off location. This spot is extremely beautiful with the landscape and scenery. It also has a Cafe de Monte to get an authentic beignets.
Melinda Stallings
Great way to spend some self- care time. I enjoyed the sculpture park immensely and of course, there's nothing like beignets and cafe au lait while enjoying a saxophonist.
Joua Xiong
So much to do and see in this park. It is beautiful and full of activities. There are also plenty of areas to sit, play, and explore.
Anita M
A lovely park used by locals, free sculpture garden, a beautiful botanic garden, serene and gorgeous. Recommend attending Crescent City Yoga classes here, too!
Renee May Richards
What a beautiful surprise I heard about from someone at our hotel.
I could spend everyday walking around this beautiful park.
wayne terry
Great place to go and relax with your family. Mini golf, botanical gardens, statue gardens, Cafe duMonde, lakes and fun. Must see for anyone visiting the city.
Samantha Sigelakis-Minski
An absolutely beautiful and free place to be in New Orleans. Nature, sculpture gardens, ponds with interesting flora and fauna, you can get lost just looking at everything. What's also great is the Cafe Du Monde satellite spot in the heart of the park, where you can try the famous coffee and beignets without the lines. My only regret is not checking out the art museum.
Abby Blue
The park is great, so much green space so much history associated with this area.
A must see is the dueling tree very historical!
Went to see celebration in the oaks and truthfully disappointing.
I think someone forgot the memo that you were supposed to have just your parking lights on.
It did not seem as that Spectacular nor as long of a drive through the park.
On a non-celebration day the park is definitely a must see for those who enjoy fish turtles and wildlife.
There is always something new even if you’ve been there 50 times plus.
Brian Cox
Beautiful park. No line at the cafe. Gift shop was great. It's on our list for next time we visit.
Sara Gil
Beautiful park, lovely artwork. Huge grounds can easily spend the whole day there.
Kat Minks
Absolutely stunning and pretty park. There were swans everywhere in the ponds and it was picturesque. The cafe Dumonde in right there to grab a beignet adn coffee and take it all in. Our kids loved the play park also.
Savanna Ivy
Amazing park ! Great scenery! The bubble machine was a great treat for the little ones . Kids of all ages could run and play . Highly recommend!
Dave Daley
Definitely make time to visit the botanical garden. One of the most beautiful and Serene places I've been to yet.
Lonnie & Darha Lynn O’Quinn
Thoroughly enjoyed this park. Not quite like it was 30 years ago. Which was incredible to me then. Love the wildlife and nature. Soothing to the soul. Plenty more to see for the artsy and monuments
Dineen Morris
The Sculpture Garden was Amazing, the Botanical Garden was great. The Storyland Area was not so great..showing its age, in need of paint on most of the displays.
Jusserenityyy
Went here during my vacation to NOLA and have always wanted to try beignets so seeing that they have a Cafe Dumonde on site was amazing. I couldn't get enough of the greenery that honestly made me want to stay forever
Kiaya Cordell
You can spend a whole day or a few days here there is so much to do and it's very gorgeous. We spent the day here and can't wait to go back.
Bryan Norwine
We were searching for Du Monde's and found one here!! That was after an attempt to frequent the original location which had about an hour wait!!!
Definitely a nicer place for family, especially if the original is busy.
Easy parking too!!
And just across the parking lot is N.O. Botanical Gardens...
We were in a hurry a s didnt realize it was in City Park!! Huge park with plentt of space and things to do there.
Vaneishia Carpenter
Always go by here when I'm in town this time it was on a night ghost tour. We had a great time learned a lot more about NOLA and may have gotten a pic or two of a ghost! Definitely worth hearing the history of this park.
Lana Roberts
Lovely place to relax and take in beautiful scenery. There's even a Cafe du Monde there for beignets and coffee. There was also a gift store where I got a couple cute New Orleans tea towels...so cute.
IG Mack_Turner
If you like the outdoor then this is for you. Family friendly and beautiful view. Is right across from bourbon street.
Hanan Hamad
Spectacular ! The park is big. Beautiful place with lots to see and do.
James Roberts Jr
Awesome place to go bass fishing, walking, and bike riding. Soccer fields, tennis courts with little play grounds for the babies.
Tanya Kaiser
Beautiful park, with lots of families. Cage du monde is located within along with an art museum and botanical garden. It's so scenic and many photographers were seen out taking photos.
Sagnik Saha
Large acres of land with plenty of recreational activities, it's maintenance can surely be better
Cris Zaragoza
Lots of beautiful spots in this park with a huge Cafe Du Monde, City Putt mini golf, storyland for kids, botanical garden, and so much more!
Heather A
Beautiful amazing park... Trails to walk, a butterfly garden, a pretty bridge to walk over and a pond with swan peddle boats and kayaks... The Louisiana Children's Museum is here too, it's an absolute must do when in New Orleans!! One of the best city parks I've ever been to ❤️
shalesDC
This is one of the most beautiful and well kept parks I've ever been to. Absolutely stunning views.
Julia Costin
Great park! Very scenic, huge, tons of activities for all ages. Definitely recommend visiting!
Marjorie Pokorny
City Park NOLA is one of my favorite getaway places. The art museum, botanical gardens, storyland and walking paths are wondrrful.
Naomi Leonard
The park is very beautiful and parking is free! I would recommend visiting this park when you’re in NOLA
Steven Miller
This was the most beautiful and most interesting park that I have ever been to. I absolutely loved it.
Jeff Bernard
First time here. Went for a 5k run. Ended up at Cafe du Monde. Had the coffee and beignets, then took the grand babies to the park to swing and slide. Going to go back and check out more sites there. This the most beautiful park I have been to.
CJL - G
This park is green and relaxing! We enjoy surrounded by those beautiful trees!
Tiger Steimle
Gorgeous trees! Loved walking around for a bit after some beinegts at Cafe Du Monde.
Victor Garcia
It is cool to go to the different areas, especially in a bike, since it is a very large area, larger than Central Park in NYC. However, it is divided by an Interstate road and one part is occupied by a golf course. It includes areas of maintained grass for you to lay down with nice weather and you can go all the way from mid town New Orleans to the lake on the north side along the paths.
J Castillo
I love New Orleans City Park, there's so much to see and do. Those oak trees are absolutely beautiful.
Ayon Ibrahim
Lovely park but a bit hard to navigate. Kept accidentally getting in the way of golfers
Malavika Hegde
City park is beautiful and massive. They have nice lakes and very nice to walk around. You could walk through city park all the way to NOMA.
jessica batiste
2022 Beignet Fest was set up well! Lots of people came out. Music was amazing the food was great.. The sun did not disappoint either!
Cathè Valencia
Very peaceful , enjoy the trees. Relax and enjoy the Crispy fresh air.
Nat Bell O knee
Sculpture gardens is a great self-guided walking tour lots of great artwork various artists really clean nice park
Paul Rizzo
Very cool as always. People taking professional photos in the scenery, kids on the playground, Arts and craft fair and people doing a yoga class. Very lively as always.
Fransheska JL
We went to the botanical gardens here and it was so nice and peaceful! It was surpringly bigger than I thought it would be and there were many different sections to explore. We saw the main botanical garden, vegetable garden, japanese garden, etc. And this is definitely a nice place to take pictures. The entrance fee when I went was $10.
Amy Miller
Great park to visit and have a break from the city. Bike rides and swan boats at night were super fun.
Susan E
Nice park with a shop to get coffee and food, as well as indoor bathrooms.
Beth Johnson
Just wonderful!
This place makes me so happy every time I'm here.
Joseph Davidson
If you come to New Orleans..you definitely need to check out the " South's Central Park"..playgrounds for kids...paths to walk..Cafe du Monde..
Adrian Harrell
Loved seeing the beautiful oak trees with Spanish moss growing on them.
Kevin Parrett
Amazing park. Days of activities just in City Park.
jarock1420
I can't speak highly enough of the city park, I was truly blown away by all the wonderful, fun, and amazing things to do. There is something for everyone, not to mention many beautiful sites. I easily could have spent all day there
Yesenia Arroyo
It's easy to want to just stay in the French Quarter when visiting, but City Park is a must see, it's gorgeous and has a Café Du Monde with way better beignets than the one in the French Quarter (sorry :/) The park has a sculpture Park we missed out on cause of the rain but from what we saw it looked so cool. As our tour guide said though, there are gators and please don't throw anything at them.
Adam R. (Seriustruth)
Always a fun place to visit with the family, especially the sculpture garden.
Lynn Harrison
This park is absolutely beautiful. It has activities for everyone. There is a museum on site, paddle boats, an amusement park and also quiet places to sit and be still. It has a "Cafe Du Mon" in it. Can you believe that? I really enjoyed it.
Anthony Wagner
Had a good time walking through the park with my yen, my sister, Esme
Mark Peczeniuk
I normally don’t visit parks when I travel, but I had time and wanted to just relax. The park has magnificent old trees with the Spanish moss on it like you have seen in movies. I’ve never seen trees like these in real life. We also went to the botanical gardens, another thing that normally don’t do. It was very relaxing and enjoyable walking in the gardens. So you want to just kickback and relax for a bit, this is the place to go.
Rob Sharpstein
It was a beautiful day around 80 degrees and breezy - low humidity. We walked around and enjoyed the trees, wild flowers and the activity (family picnics). The Museum was busy although we didn't go there that day. City Park is a well needed break from the hustle bustle of the city.
Sarah Schatz
The nicest sculpture park I’ve been too. Also a spot for coffee and beignets next door!
Shivakumar
One of the greatest place in New Orleans is The City Park. Serving as New Orleans' largest outdoor attraction since 1854, City Park is one of the oldest parks in the country. With its iconic oak trees and picturesque moss canopies, this 1,300 acre green space brings in millions of visitors each year. People come from near and far to enjoy the beautiful trails and scenery, as well as the endless amount of vendors, museums and activities within the park itself. With multiple themed gardens, biking and walking paths, live concerts, an amusement park and the World's largest grove of mature live oak trees, City Park has something for everyone!
Just for Kids
Families love to bring their kids for a day of outdoor fun at City Park, because everything is kid-friendly. In fact the park holds a few attractions created specifically with kids in mind.
For young ones who love a good fairy tail, Storyland is a storybook-themed playground with over 25 giant sculptures from all your favorite bedtime stories.
Kids also love the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, where you'll find over 15 different rides for kids of all ages. You can even take a ride on the park's historic, handcrafted carousel that is one of only 100 in the country!
Cafe Du Monde
The French Quarter favorite has found an additional home in New Orleans City Park. Before a visit to NOMA or a family-friendly day at Storyland make a visit to Cafe du Monde for a taste of the perfectly powdered pastries that New Orleans is well-known for
William Mena
Such an amazing and beautiful place with so much to do.
Sam Fantaye
New Orleans City Park is a world on its own is an understatement. From remarkable old live oak trees to the sculpture garden, from the meandering multitude of trials to the selecting pond, it offers so much for someone visiting occasionally or a regular user.
The park features great spots for outdoor gatherings, jogging and exercising, and walking dogs, and enjoying a relaxed day under the shade trees.
The art museum and the sculpture garden are accessible by vehicles with plenty of parking on-site, better yet accessible through walking trails that traverse the park from multiple directions. Go out end explore.
Elizabeth DeGrie Killeen
City Park never disappoints! It has great open spaces, great playgrounds, and great ways to enjoy nature. Definitely encourage visitors and locals alike to explore this gem. The Art nuseume, children's museum, paddle boats, sculpture garden, botanical gardens, story land/carousel park, and more are all great ways to enjoy the coming cooler weather!!
Andrea Hunter
Always a great experience. There is so much to see and do at City Park. Beautiful trails for walking, children's sections, the Sculpture Garden is.the best!!!! And then there is the Pavillion of the Two Sisters, where my daughter just got married. A gorgeous venue
Arlie Liverman
Just simply amazing! Beautiful bridges and nature everywhere!
Ju bar
Great park With scultpures
Nice place to relax
angela harris
In our 3 day visit we came here three times. Insanely gorgeous trees, so many activites to choose from . The Sculpture garden is a must-see. Would have loved to do the light up swan boat in the evening. We ended up visiting the art museum because it looked all enticing from the park. There isn't enough time in one visit to enjoy it all. Bring bug spray and lots of water!!
Royal Mangalitsa
We didn’t had a lot of time to be there but when you have time go and walk around and enjoy!
Anu Teli
Need to go if you are visiting, the trees and scenery are outstanding! Also the cafe du monde here has no lineup haha!
sourabh garg
Nice place to spend some time with nature and art.
Yolanda Crawford
Had a wonderful time at this park. There is so much to see and do! We rented bikes and got in some exercise while exploring. I can't wait to go back to the sculpture garden and to maybe try the putt putt golf here.
Arthur Antunes
Worth the visit. Nice views, come to unwind and enjoy a relaxing stroll.
debra larsen
Very nice park. I love all of the statues.
Karen Ciampo
Beautiful park with wild areas, museums and trails.
Lourdes Nellum
City Park, New Orleans. A nice park to spend an afternoon strolling, biking (rentals available), kayaking or having a beignet and coffee.
Dave Crenshaw
We have a great city park. Thanks WPA for this awesome treasure.
Michael Carmody
Must see!! Buy a day ticket for the 48, the outdoor sculpture garden is free, but accepts donations....do not miss this! I cannot stress that enough! There are bathrooms, but no other services, so if you want to cruise with a drink in hand, bring your own. I'd recommend a good spliff and 4 hours to take this all in, at a minimum.
Lucas McCarren
Love the living oaks so pretty. Definitely a great spot for steps and if you're really ambitious you can see the causeway at the end. Also my friend Doug tried to kiss me here, that was wackadoo. The botanical gardens are great too!
Mrz. B1ggz
The New Orleans Celebration Under the Oaks was a fun drive. For what it is, it would be perfect for a family with children. The night we went, the temperature was in the 20's, so we were thankful to be able to drive through. It is $40 to drive through, but really, that is too much for the little amount of lights displayed. It really could be $20-$30. I personally think less, but again, this is great for a family with children.
Jennifer Robinson
What a beautiful park, great place to relax and enjoy nature.
Marissa Spraggens
Walking this park was so relaxing. There was no shortage of flowers vegetation to look out. Countless big, tall, beautiful trees to gaze at. The sculpture garden was amazing. Cafe Du Monde had such a calming atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time in this park.
Jesus Chico
Spent a few hours here and went into the sculpture park which had a small $5 fee but was definitely worth it. A lot of interesting spaces and things to see. Would love to spend a whole day here sometime. If you get a bike, it would be really easy to see the whole park. Loved it. Also the swinging benches are so much fun.
Heat “Heat Rose” Rose
What a perfect place to spend a day. The absolute peace of New Orleans can be found here. If you need a break from the party and the noise, come here and find all the beautiful nooks and crannies; including one of the most wonderful museums of art on this planet and a garden that is free and full of jaw dropping beautiful art and nature!
CJ Daniels
City Park is a great place to visit while here. There's so much you can do and it's reasonably priced compared to most things here. If you're looking to visit a cafe DU Mont go to this one it's way better then the French market one.
Karl Matthew Sison
Great place to eat some Beignets and walk around with your family! Nice place to take pictures as well.
Ryan Batson
Beautiful park. A must visit in New Orleans.
Sally Wightkin
I love City Park. My husband and I bring the dogs there regularly to walk. The museum there is fabulous, as is the Botanical Gardens. I love the Sculpture Garden and hope to go to City Putt very soon. City park is one of my favorite places.
Andreas Aristidou
Nice park with a good amount of grass and a beautiful lake. Next to some interesting cemeteries and the museum of art!
Swan Gray
This park is beautiful. It’s a great place to go with friends. I’ll try to walk my dog Oya, In the mornings and it’s always such a delight, and oasis from the city. This park is big and I really appreciate the effort it takes to keep this place maintained.
J. Lamar H.
City Park another great place in Chicago where the big bean is located at this was part of the food tour I went to we spent a great deal of time and understanding the history here I highly recommend taking advantage of this and learning about the big bean it took a lot of stuff to build that they do a great wedding there and some other events around the bean

Beautiful!! And I went at night even in the dark you could see it beauty. We did an adventure game, that was also so much fun , Questo app , and you could definitely see the beauty . Explore and have a picnic, jog or relaxing day of nothing but people watching
Claudia Luna
We just visited this place, we were expecting to see the Alice in wonderland area but it was confusing for us to find the place, actually we didnt but we enjoy the playground...we are hoping to come back and see the Alice area and the little amusement park
Ramon Billescas
Sculpture garden, iconic bridges and beautiful giant oaks. If you like the outdoors check it out.
Katie Santos
Really cool park. Highly recommend going to check out our when they do their Celebration of the Oaks around Christmas time. We took a train ride and got to see a lot of the city park at night. It was so much fun.
Carrie Wright
It was Beignet Fest and many different varieties of the beignet, live music, great weather, a variety of eats, treats, and drinks for all. Drink prices weren't bad at all. The kids were having fun too, bring your folding canvas chair or sit on the grass and just chill. A $20.00 admission fee, ouch! for adults and kids free, thank goodness 😅 Great time.
David Sinagub
Very fun park! Plenty of playground space, delightful musicians, bathrooms available. Nice lake and fun activities. Highly recommend for visitors or l on calls, alike.
kaleigh c
Stunning park next to a kickass play ground for the little ones. Each section has a sign letting you know what age group it was designed for. Very clean very beautiful. Walk over to the sculptures for some wonderful art or head over to storyland. You will love walking through your favorite stories and taking pictures with infamous tales.
The Traveling Family
Absolutely loved it!! Very peaceful
t harris
Very nice park. Brought some lunch and came to visit City putt. Grabbed a couple beignets after and walked a bit. There’s so much stuff in one area. Museum, gardens, golf, cafe, carnival, etc. I would definitely revisit.
Rob Sell
Went for Celebration of the Oaks and it was beautiful. I will be going back to see the rest of the park.
Luke Murphy
Took a soggy walk out to see the Singing Oak and had a wonderful time. Well worth it.
J.X
Such a great place to relaxe and have a picnic!
Kelsey Anslem
We love City Park! My husband is in town for work and we have been bringing our kids to the park at least once a week. There is soooo much to do there. We have been to Story Land, Cafe Du Monde, and played at the park many times. There is still so much more to do there that we haven't been able to do yet.
Terri Cardwell
Great place to get your New Orleans "beigns" if your not in the French Quarters! It has a cute little gift shop also! Nice beautiful park to sit outside or clean inside. A must for a New Orleans favorite 😍 …
Nicoye Bergeron
City Park is a beautiful place to see!
We went for the world famous powdered sugar donuts. That were fresh and hot.
Awesome visit to City Park.
TJ Higdon
So much to see and explore. We are going back a second day in a row to see what we missed. Lots of trails, bridges, and seating scattered about.
Dalton Fox
Incredible park! One of my favorites in the US.
Alicia M.
I visited City Park for Celebration in the Oaks. With Covid 19, this year is completely drive through and you must buy your ticket online. The weekend days sell out quickly, so I opted for a Tuesday evening. It was perfect and there weren’t many vehicles. When entering the park, there’s a sign to turn to a radio station to listen to Christmas music. Note that you’re required to wear a mask when interacting with the staff in the check in line.
Overall, the lights/decorations were nice. Compared to last year, it seems like they scaled it back some. I did appreciate that it was a long, slow drive throughout the park...very relaxing! There were no cars directly in front or behind me so I was able to stop and take pictures as much as I wanted. There’s a big, lit up naughty list at the end that’s supposed to display your names (based on the list you provide when you buy the ticket). Sadly, it didn’t work when I drove past it.
With such a huge focus on social distancing right now, Celebration in the Oaks is an excellent choice for a nice outing with the family.
Laurie Garcia-Bullock
Wonderful place to spend an hour or a day!
Daniel Watkins
Absolutely gorgeous. Came here for the carousel but, apparently, it's closed except on weekends. Still the park was very beautiful... we were able to get into the Botanic gardens and storyland
Guide to NOLA
GTN Recommended - Here at Guide to NOLA we feature City Park extensively because there is just so much to do here. Multiple museums, gardens, sculpture gardens, Storyland, Putt Putt, a small theme park, tennis facility, soccer fields, two golf courses, equestrian facilities, hiking trails, walking and exercise paths, waterways, stadiums, restaurants, a coffee shop, train ride, and so much more await at City Park. City Park is one the easiest and least-expensive way to spend several days with the entire family right inside this sprawling park.
Tip: City Park is one of the few places in the city offering free parking. Alternatively, you can ride the Canal Street streetcar from the Quarter to City Park's southeast entrance, with easy access to the New Orleans Museum of Art, Big Lake, Children's Museum, Botanical Garden, Storyland, Cafe Du Monde and more.
Holly harrington smock
Great park. Beautiful, clean and peaceful.
Jack G. Lewis
City Park is one place in New Orleans we can visit every time we come to town. The sculpture garden is wonderful, the places to walk are wonderful. Events always seem to be happening, so we return each time we are I. Town for a new experience of NOLA.
Anthony Oster
Storyland is a staple in the New Orleans area and I loved being able to share it with my daughter. It's sad that the citizens of New Orleans can't keep from destroying the fiction areas like this. The experience was fun and great for families though .
James Aaron
My girlfriend and I loved it! So many beautiful things. So many works of art that I had only witnessed in books. To see them with my own eyes... I want to go again. I highly recommend
Brennen Davis
One of the best parks in the country. Super beautiful, super clean, and huge! Plan at least 2 days to explore this park it's way worth your time.
The Paiks
We visited City Park to play disc golf. It is a very fun course with options to increase difficulty if your game can handle it. The parking is street side and easy. We didn't know the course, but locals were helpful. The highlight perhaps is the triple mando on #9 that makes you want to try multiple shots to see what works best. The back 9 has some water risk on a couple holes...alligators when it's warm? There was walkers to keep an eye open for, especially on #3. There is an elevated basket on #17 which can be extra fun in windy conditions. Overall, it's a really fun course with limited disc losing potential. Enjoy!
Tim Geiger
Beautiful park! Wife took me on a Gondola ride. It was wonderful, I highly recommend if you get the chance! Robert is a great Gondelier.
Lliane Covington
We visited on a city tour... stopped at CAFE DU MONDE for beignets and coffee.. There were several picturesque venues and lots of amazing trees. We appreciated our tour guides knowledge of the park....it was rather enlightening. It is worth an afternoon stroll for certain.
David Ginsburg
Nice family atmosphere and the great Cafe du Monde for beignets.
Rachel Gonzalez
Beautiful park that offers lots to see!
Kathryn Smith
Expansive and gorgeous oasis in the city. There are many things to do here - relax, explore, visit a museum or sculpture garden, botanical garden, cute little theme park, rent a pedal boat or a bike, go to a less busy Cafe Dumonde for beignets, etc. Look up the website for a complete list of things to do here. It is beautiful, and a must-do to complete your New Orleans trip.
Anna T
Very nice park to hang out
Jessica Cardoni
Not prepared for how HUGE it is OR how many aspects require additional charges. I would still recommend going BUT bring $$!! The sculpture garden was 100% worth it... we LOVED it!!! (The botanical garden... NOT SO MUCH... so not recommend for the price) loved the family vibe and we Uber-ed there which seemed like a good idea BUT there was also lots of space... the driving just seemed to be tight.
Robert Bray
Relax and enjoy New Orleans City Park which offers many activities and walking paths, saw skateboarding dancing to music and girl in photography session, stopped to have local food and coffee.
Alicia Mabus
We went last year around New Years. We had a amazing time looking at sculptors and Christmas lights. It brought back great memories from my childhood but also made more with my husband, kiddos and my younger brother. Those memories that will last forever
Anastassia Boquet
First time for my fiance and 18month old and first time driving tour for me since I used to go with my parents when I was little. We absolutely loved it and appreciate all the hard work done to bring magic during a pandemic. We did the driving tour and train and treats and after we drove we got to park and go into the amusement area and walk the grounds as well as had delicious hot chocolate and smores. The train ride was so fun for the baby and we got to see the lights again which was a good bonus! I'd be happy doing the driving tour again next year. Also the extra touches of having the kids names on the nice list and parents on the naughty list. Yall went above and beyond and I was sad to see so many people complaining online that the tour was driving this year.
All in all it was nice to have some Christmas magic during a pandemic and will now we a Christmas tradition for my family.

A fantastic foriegn land nestled neatly within my city! Whether a scenic drive to detoxify a bad mood or day out and about collecting captivating pictures, City Park is always warmly welcoming every & anybody to soak in it's various areas for a theraputic experience and fresh changes in scenery. Zen master, novice photographer, & even soccer mom's will find an enormous amount of things to do & places to be. It's almost as if the park is it's own world with joining areas with such diverse landscape; like completely different countries, each holding secrets and answers unique to it's region. I find something/someplace new everytime I visit & I've been here all my life- still pretty sure I haven't witnessed all the areas of the park & what it has to offer. Flower feilds, bayou-esque landscape, Victorian structures, rural wooded picnicing areas, magnificent oaks, Sculpture Garden, Museum, Storyland, Cafe DuMonde, even a personal recent discovery of numerous thick forested trails are just for starters on the menu for the adventure hungry, adoring couple, herd of family, or underentertained explorer. I indefinitely recommend frequent visits to City Park to tourists and natives alike.
Chris Werner
Enjoyed our walk around the sculptures..
It was a rather hot day so I had my shirt off, was quickly told to put it on by an ancient lady who worked the front window.
All I could do was giggle due to the fact there are many fully nude statues. I guess I just wasn't artistic enough for her.
Heidi Padilla
We had stopped off here on our city and cemetery tour, so we didnt get much time to explore. They have a cafe du monde there for a bathroom break and refreshments. What we did see at the park was nice, and if we get a chance to go back, we'll definitely explore more!
T.j. Wiseman
One the most beautiful places I've ever seen! The live oaks, Spanish moss, art sculptures, and so much more. Just truly amazing.
cindy c.
Love this park. The park offers bike riding, swan boat paddling, and an array of activities. The sculpture section is not to miss. Best of all, it's free admission. And the arts museum is in the vicinity. Truly a great park to take a stroll.
Bleik Monroy
The city park is a New Orleans landmark that everyone should at least visit once. As far as attractions go, there are plenty of options that families have if they are willing to splurge during their stay at N.O.LA. Even if there is no time or the budget for certain activities in the park, it is a great way to take a break from the road and explore the city at its best. There are also cemeteries nearby with great architecture and easy access to the streetcar. This park is truly accessible to weary families and travelers who wish to have a peaceful moment in a hectic day
Brandon P.
Large city park with plenty of open areas and walking paths.
Note - my visit was around lunchtime on a Tuesday. I'm sure it's busier during the weekend.
I visited the park after touring the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). There's a ton of parking along the street and a large lot near the playground.
Things to see:
New Orleans Museum of Art.
The park has a Cafe Du Monde offering Cafe au lait, beignets, regular coffee, and breakfast drinks. The beignets were fantastic...although this was the first time I'd ever had them 😀. For those who've not tasted beignets before, think a more doughnut mated with funnel cake.
There's a good sized playground for the little ones play on.
The Sculpture Garden is a "must see" when casting the park. The walking paths are paves with concrete and the grounds are impeccably maintained. The sculptures are mostly modern art with a few more traditional items scattered around. One of the best parts....It's free to tour.
Of course the downtown area has plenty to see and do but if you're looking to enjoy open spaces with less crowds, the city park is a great place!!!
Abram Banman
Large park with excellent walking trails. Cafe Du Monde where you can enjoy the famous beignets without the crazy wait time in the Quarter. Bike and water sport rentals and a small amusement park (open in some seasons) make this a great place to visit if you want to unwind away from the busy downtown area.
S. Antoni-Sparks
This is a really nice local park - enough to make us kentuckians a little jealous. : ) There is plenty of space for events, walking trails, a small lake to canoe upon, and it houses the botanical garden, which i left a seperate review on. When we visited, there was an art gathering with some cool booths to shop around. Im sure they have local events all year and if you get hungry, Cafe De Monde is on site.
Valerie DeMitis
This place is huge! If you're doing it by foot, stay in the lower half of the park. The upper end is a golf course, sports fields, and fishing. You can rent a bike and see the whole park within 2 hours. There are also boat rentals available! It's a lovely spot to just sit and relax. 10/10 recommend.
Sherry Jacob
Love this park! The oaks, ponds, & wildlife create a serene calm place to visit. So much variety too-mini golf, bike trails, amusement park mini-train. Etc.
Neil Lewis
Beautiful park. Rent a swan boat for the lake or a multi-bike for up to five! Cool art and plenty to do for families. Perfect quick getaway if you’re interested in doing something outside the French Quarter.
Ashley Graham
A great space with something for everyone. Wish we had spent 2 days here too much to do in just one. Could use some more landscaping.
Lacey Moses
Just so much to see and explore definitely worth a visit no matter if you have dogs, kids, bikes, wanna see some art they got that too, free sculpture garden just go check it all out
Chip Lechner
One of the oldest public parks in the area. Majestic oaks as far as the eye can see. Cafe' du Monde at the heart of the park for a refreshing cup of coffee and beinets piled high with powdered sugar.
Anna Wallace
This is a huge park with a variety of things to do like a sculpture park, a theme park with rides, a train ride through the park, a museum and I think I even seen a casino there. We walked through the sculpture park. It was nice and peaceful and the scenery was beautiful. I particularly liked the pond area. Lots of great photo opportunities here.
beatriz quintero
Beautiful park, and a lot of entertainment.
Travis Fuller
This place is incredible. If you think bourbon street is cool just wait until you see this place. This place is 50% bigger than Central Park and full of just as much beautiful as any other park in the country. With activities for the entire family. Running groups. Yoga groups. Rides for the kids. It’s worth being out in the humidity to go here. This is a 24 hour stop.
James Gardner
It is such a large park with so many things to do you could never do it all in a day. We a part of two days here, first in the kids area and one just exploring the trees, turtles and beautiful grounds. The park is well maintained and is so charming, full of what we love about New Orleans. Beautiful vistas and great meandering sidewalks for a stroll. Something for everyone. Love this park
Betsy York
What a delightful surprise. A relaxing picturesque place for everyone. Relaxing.
David Hong
This park is huge! You have the art museum here, a few ponds, tons of sports fields, a children's museum, and so much more. The best part is the bike and running paths. I highly recommend bringing a bike or renting an Uber bike to get around this massive park. Highly recommend for tourists who just want to see a massive park that's way less crowded than something like NYC Central Park.
Char Nettles
The New Orleans Museum of Art located on the edge of City Park is impressive. Even has a few Degas' since he spent 5 months in New Orleans on a sojourn from France. The sculpture garden was our fav. But three floors full of great art is AWESOME!! Kids up to age 19 get in free and at $15 per adult, ($8 for seniors, military, or students) makes it very reasonable family outing. Loved it!!
Autumn Rich
Absolutely beautiful scenery and wildlife, with many things to do and see. Also found a perfect hammock spot and had a peaceful hammock nap!
Dwight Hobberechts
I loved the benches in shaded areas in the afternoon when I visited. Lots of people having fun. The geese were numerous and having a good time with the people in the park. It was an enjoyable and relaxing time. I'll be back very soon!
Wendy Firestone
What a wonderful gift to the city. Beautiful trees, water and lawn, lots of activities for kids, a museum and sculpture garden and so much more make this a great place to explore.
Teresa *
Gorgeous NOLA park, the art museum was my favorite but so much to see and do. Paddle boats on the lake are whimsically shaped like giant white swans! Great place to spend hours relaxing or exploring.
Michael Brandin
Pleasant park with a combination of areas to enjoy. Enjoyed the outdoor sculptures. They are on the west side of a building inside a circular roadway near the south entrance. Had paddle boats you could rent on small lake setting. The Louisiana Children's Museum was also north of the sculptures. Large areas for playing games and fair amount of benches well placed underneath trees for sitting or having a picnic meal. On the north side was areas set aside for golf, tennis, soccer players etc.
Do also enjoy the largest amount of oak trees in town for sure throughout the park.
Karen Jones Jones
Beautiful, accessible park. We had drove through the Christmas Lights the night before. A wonderful experience.
Rolonda Mayer
We went through the Christmas in the Oaks holiday lights drive thru on the night of Thanksgiving after dinner. It is the first time it has been back as a drive thru in years, perfect for the pandemic. It was raining and the park was mobbed. Still we got in pretty easily with our prepurchased online ticket. We even bought commemorative ornaments. My daughter's boyfriend got some really great photos! It was gorgeous and really helped put us in the holiday mood!
Justine
This was a very large, clean, and well-maintained park. It had a little amusement area for children (with a roller coaster and possibly some other fair rides), a botanical garden, mini golf, and swan boat and bicycle rentals. None of these things are free but the prices seemed reasonable. It offered a quiet, relaxing break from the craziness of the city on our visit for the fourth of July.
Jenee' Martinez
I wandered through this open space of open art structures absorbing each piece of art exploring a variety of artist's works of art. Reminded me how much I enjoy art. Relaxing, peaceful, exciting, disturbing, depending on each piece. On way to airport on last hours in town, wish I had more time to explore. Inside museums, train ride, swan lake, amusement park, children's activities, all free!!!
Shannon Ross
The Park has several things to do. The botanical gardens was nice, maybe better at night because I saw a lot of lightning. The art museum is here, which is great. There is a small train and amusement park for children. Many city events are also held here. You can rent cycles here. A great place for a picnic. You could spend more than a full day here with the family.
Harigovind Menon
The city park is really peaceful and a beautiful and a really good way to spend some quality time exploring the various art works on display. Just make sure you have enough time to walk through as the park is really spread out.
Tom Hofacre
Took the streetcar down Canal Street to the park. The sculpture garden was amazing! It was a relaxing change from the French Quarter.
SooperMikey
Usually not too packed. Well manicured. Great for biking/running. And apparently also good for volleyball.
Neil Noland
The park itself is nice and a great change of pace from the city around it, but it's not the best city park I've been to. However, worth a visit if you want to relax. Plenty of benches under shady oaks draped in Spanish moss.
Michelle Bergeron
City Park is always fun for the whole family. The fairy tail park is so much fun for the little kids. They have so many cute little nursery rhyme character things throughout the park that are very fun for the kids to run around climb and play on. They open it for people to walk through during Christmas in the Oaks as well. The atmosphere is fun for the whole family.
Trista Johnson
Museums, easy disc golf, and team sport venues
shellintheshell shell
Really nice park! Only drawback is the crackheads that use this really nice almost secluded area to do drugs. One was hanging out in there clearly high on something. As he approached us, he was mumbling incoherently and was asking his imaginary friend if we were demons. First set of pics with the bridge are of the drug hangout.
Trey dallas
Excellent place to go hang out take someone on a picnic date for free. It also has museums, art, recreation, and many more things to do with family.
M M Fischer
Very nice city park. Beautiful very old live oaks all around with lovely landscaping. The park offers so many opportunities for so many visitors from a children's area, to a sports area, to a riding stable and a golf course. Great place for children. They would love the train! Only down side was construction but it will add to the park.
Prabhasa Kalkur
A weekend go-to place for family and kids. Their playground, and theme park with nursery rhymes are a regular attraction. The birds (especially ducks) are very friendly; you can see the kids have fun feeding them. Also a perfect nature spot, the trees are beautiful and massive. The bridge was built back in the 1800s but stands even to this day. The pillars are a great photoshoot spot, you can see youngsters pose for the DSLRs.
Carol Hutchison
One of the biggest public parks in the America. It is beautiful and serene. So many things to do and see!!! Love to come here an just hang out. Magnificent for photographs and family events. Best to explore when the weather is not too hot.
chana johnson
Several playgrounds, beautiful scenery, an amusement park, restaurant, museum, and public bathrooms throughout the park! Great for a day of fun with the kids. Its huge too- even bigger than Central Park!
Kaz Page
Just loved walking through this place. You can spend a whole day here with the family. We had the best weather and a magical day. So much to see in the art park and heaps to do for people of all ages.
Kelly Brown
The celebration in the oaks was absolutely beautiful. They really covered every part in lights. We didn't do any of the rides or grab food, but to just walk around was nice.
Denyse Sawyer
Great park! It's huge! There's water features and bridge's and lots of old oaks. Kids love to climb the low lying branches. There are ducks and geese all around. There's a great playground that is friendly towards disabled children. There is Storyland too. It doesn't cost much to get in. The botanical gardens and the sculpture gardens are here as well. The New Orleans Museum of Art is also located here. There's also a miniature golf place.
Janea Lowe
Beautiful park! Lots to do and see. Love being around such old trees. I was a little nervous about the geese that were traveling around in a group lol but they didn't get too close
Ken Schumacher
Went to Put put golf. Was little crowded but didn't have to wait much. All had fun and cost is reasonable!!
Vman Homeboycooking
One of the premier green spaces in the city. I love City Park. It is beautiful and so much to explore. The amusement park, the botanical gardens, museum of art, and coming soon a new Children's Museum, St John's Bayou...it's a great place. A must for the list of things to do in New Orleans.
Dorina Roxana Grecu
A must visit area! Take the entire day, as there are so many to do around: get some energy by enjoying a coffee at Cafe du Monde, start visiting the Sculpture Garden, then the museum. After this, you can enjoy a boat, train or bike ride around ;). Beautiful old trees, swans, etc.
Chasity J.
City Park in its thousands of acres of land, greenery, nature and recreation is pretty amazing. I recommend any nature loving tourist and local take the time and days to slowly explore it.
Trails, tracks, canoeing, amusement park, a museum, food, gulf, fishing, tennis, I could go on. I will update you all with images as I continue to explore it as well.
Emelie Cheramie
Lovely place to take a stroll through their gardens. They also have Storybook land for the kids but some attraactions which used to do things are now broken. They also have rides for the kids but they are either baby rides or adult rides. Maybe 1 or 2 non thrill rides that mid-range age kids can enjoy. You can get a bracelet to ride all day but the train (which is great esp for Christmas) costs an extra 5 dollars or so. Buy your tickets online to avoid the lines at the ticket booth.
John Hsieh
Having lived in New York City for the past year, I completely understand the concept behind having a giant green space in the middle of the city. The City Park in New Orleans feels quite a bit smaller than Central Park in NYC due to the fact that 2/3 of the park is just two golf courses. Most of the public attractions are towards the southern part of the park. There is plenty of do within the park such as visiting the art museum and the botanical garden. I definitely recommend visiting the park to get away from the madness of French Quarters.
Corinna Moreno
This park is absolutely wonderful and has so many family friendly activities! We brought our dogs to enjoy the day and found that it even had a dog park! We were also surprised to find a Cafe Du Monde and there was hardly any wait compared to the other 2 locations in New Orleans. Unfortunately Scout's Island was closed the day we visited, but we were still able to hike the other trail across the street. Of you are looking to do some outdoor walking and sightseeing, or even wanting to get tour dogs some exercise, I would definitely recommend this park. They also have free parking throughout the park!
Ronald Foster
A beautiful oasis in the city of New Orleans. A great place to connect with nature. Lovely landscapes to enjoy.
Mia Driskill
Beautiful park twice the size of Central Park in New York. Morning Call is a perfect stop for food and Frozen Irish Coffee when you first get into the park. There are plenty of things to see and do. The park has baseball, soccer and tennis courts. There is a dog park but your dog must be registered to get into the gate. The dog park is huge and there are some rules to abide by. The park has a nice track and a workout area with equipment for a full body workout. The easiest way to see the park is to rent a bike. We rented our bikes through Free Wheelin Bike Tours, they were the best in New Orleans and are local and provide you with a map and lots of recommendations. We didn’t get a chance to see the whole park but the other side of the park has a golf course and there is also putt putt and a cool sculpture garden that you can walk around and see, no bikes allowed in the garden though. It will take a full day to see the park and it’s a nice break from Bourbon Street!
Jaime Zelaya
Great scenery a lot of things to do paddle boating you can go in a Condola the Museum.
Marti Cushionberry
It's so beautiful. We didn't get to stay long. We were headed to the exibit at the Museum of Art.
Kumar Gautam
This is a Good place to visit in New Orleans. We had an awsome time here. The park itself is very big. The sculpture were nice. There are guided free tours in specific timings.
Joseph Hurley
Definitely a go-to place in New Orleans for people of all ages and walks of life. City park has a LOT to offer. I used to come here all the time between classes at the college or just to have lunch with my wife. Many times, I would just sit and enjoy the park’s expansive beauty.
Paul Russell
Finally got to visit the sculpture garden expansion. Its got a few items that are uniquely intricate, like stuff that you dont see in other similar art collections. But, the original area of the sculpture garden is still quite the spectacle.
Andrea Wall
My grandchildren really enjoyed the park. We fed ducks and walked through the sculpture before going to the art museum. It was a great day.
X-Tina 0821
A beautiful park with so much to see. It will hold a special place in my heart! We eloped and were married here on 2/14/22
Dee Holladay
If you come to New Orleans, make sure to plan a trip to City Park! So much to do and see. Definitely a great way to spend a day.
Storyland is great for anyone, but the best for young children. There is also an amusement park in Storyland and a little train that takes you around a section of the park.
There is a botanical garden, miniature golf, paddle boats to rent, and the Museum of Art. There is a fantastic outdoor collection that is free to explore.
Don't forget to stop by the Cafe du Monde for some beignets and coffee.
Plan to make a day of it. There is plenty to do and the park is big!
Staying in or around The Quarter? Get your pass for the street car and take in the scenery while taking an air conditioned ride straight to the park!
The street cars are the best way to see parts of the city you may otherwise miss out on.
Natasha Zuluaga
A Jewel of the City. This is where to pass the day away under the shade of the oldest oak trees in New Orleans. Never disappoints.
Angelica Pritchard
It’s a very nice and clean park with few activities, great to go for a walk around the museums.
Whisper Brock
The Celebration of the Oaks was spectacular! The park was amazing with the all those lights, amusement park rides and the old fashioned carousel. We rode the train around the park and enjoyed the lovely night air. I highly recommend checking out the lights, although it is only until 1/1/2020.
Kisha Parra
We were do impressed with this jewel in New Orleans. There's a beautiful trail to walk around with sculptures from a variety of well known artist. I'm glad we made this part of our trip! I can't wait to come back when the construction is done and everything is opened up.
Constanza Hurtado Meneses
Beautiful!!! It has the museum and a lot of space to walk. I loved it!
Robert Williams
A very magical place that deserves it's own shine as Bourbon Street. The sculpture garden is a place of calm and provides a break from the live attractions of the city. Very safe and walkable paths can give anyone a chance to take a gorgeous photo or maybe a photo album. Highly recommended.
Phillip Natalizio
But for the heat and humidity when I was there, I could have spent longer exploring. It was beautiful.
Sergio Aicardi
I came to new Orleans and wanted to do some site seeing so we came to city park. It was a very clean park and we'll kept. I enjoyed the many different things to do like the restaurant called morning call, the museum and the sculpture garden. Great place to go if you're visiting. Just be prepared to sweat and walk, a lot.
Ellery Marks
The absolute best thing about New Orleans! City Park is the second largest park in the country (behind Central Park in NYC) and you can see how true that is when you drive around for 10 minutes and you're still on the outskirts of it. My one demand when we moved down here is that I live near City Park and I'm so lucky that I'm a 10 minute walk away. There are so many things going on in the park and so many things to explore if you just want to be outside. I start my mornings with a 20 minute run on the bike path down Marconi and end it with a walk through the unofficial dog park paths or at NOLA City Bark. We like to ride our bikes through here and take visitors through the sculpture garden and the Big Lake with a stop at Cafe du Monde for some beignets. It's where we took our engagement photos and the first place we took our dog for a walk. This park is an amazing respite from the chaos that is New Orleans and will forever be my favorite part about it!
Inge Lewis
Great park with trails, play area, pet friendly and close to the sculpture garden

Not a lot of tourist make it out of the quarter to see this park , but my gosh is it worth it. Park is almost completely covered by the shade of the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees. Making it a great place to be outside during the summer months. Also, the FREE sculpture garden has some really amazing pieces. the trail twists and turns around the garden, letting you make your own creative decisions as to where to go next. Don't miss out, go to City Park!!
Dia Atton
The southern oak trails are beautiful. The red staff in a couple pictures is a full 6' for reference.
Kelly Hanson
Beautiful and very large park stretching from North of the French Quarter to Lake Pontchartrain. We started at MOMA which has a cute cafe that you can go in for free to get lunch items, coffee, and even wine! We stopped there first to cool off and look around. Then a stroll through the free sculpture gardens was lovely. A small fee gets you into the botanical gardens - don't miss the lilly pads and orchids. On weekends, the small amusement park and train rides are running. This is only a small section of the park- so much more to explore!
Deepak Kumar
This place has everything for all age groups - excellent children museum, a fantastic art museum, story land for small kids, amusement park and boating.
Sonja Baron
Beautiful park, lots to do, and an easy street car ride from downtown. Recommend the sculpture park
Mark Loftus
Went through on a VIP CITY TOUR. Place looks fantastic. Need to rent an electric bike and fully explore the area.
Cafe DuMonde stop in the center.
Erin Rohlfsen
Great Park! Definitely worth visiting. Parking is free and easy to find.
Vita Wen
Don’t miss out the city park light. It is a great walk while enjoying the lights. Some lights are floating on the lake (ex. Pirate ship) and it make it looks real
Christopher Peart
Beautiful park too explore and enjoy beignets and coffee.
Maciel Lockwood Rodriguez
Best place to have fun with your kids, love it!! 25 per person, if you take your kids you will only pay 15. They have so many different games, and eating areas etc. I recommend it 👌 go and have fun. …
Maker Cuisine
A beautiful, big place. Everyone should go check it out. Many places to explore.
Nicole Springer
This is now 100% my favorite place in New Orleans. So much to do from the botanical gardens, Cafe Du Monde, sculpture gardens, and the NOMA. We definitely needed more time here.
Evie Burguieres
City Park is the best place to explore natural beauty near New Orleans!
Kelly D'Auria
Beautiful park, great way to spend a day. Rent a boat or a bike, or just wander around & feed the ducks or have a picnic. No matter what it will be time well spent
Melanie Trinh
A beautiful, serene detour from the hussle and bustle of New Orleans. The admission price seems steep at first, but the size of the gardens and variety of exhibits made this a great stop during my vacation.
And as a plus, perfectly clean bathroom!
Ardessia Hawkins
The Christmas lights were beautiful. Great for the young and young at heart. We opted to ride, but there is an option to walk until 4pm.
Sergio R
Big place, some areas better than others ( cleaning) , amazing sculture Park!
Joy Teed
An open space with live oaks, walking paths, golf and you may just come across a photo shoot for Swam Lake.
Jim 909
Come out and enjoy the recreation at city Park
New Orleans Louisiana
You’re able to rent bikes and boats on a beautiful pond and paddle around while overlooking the New Orleans Museum of Art
Don’t forget The Louisiana children’s museum is located in the same park
Plenty of room to park and move around with Live Oak trees over 100 years old
T Miller
Awesome place. First grab beignets at Cafe Du Monde then walk across great lawn and for $6 walk through a awesome story trail.
Juan Gaytan
Beautiful park, you need a full day to appreciate all of it
Jonie W
Great way to spend a day, especially if you have children. My sister and I roamed around the Botanical Gardens which were absolutely gorgeous. Then we took the kids to Storyland to play. The dragon slide was one of the favorites. The carousel in the amusement park is beautiful, however it is extremely hot this time of year because it's not air-conditioned. We wanted to ride the train, but it only runs until 3:20 in the afternoon.
Mary Junkin
Such a fun and cute place RIGHT near the city. Its wild that I never knew about it. A nice little walk, groomed pathways and nice sitting areas. Great stop for locals and people passing through. Variety of wildlife!
Donna Mastri
The park is huge & kept up very well. A lot of awesome areas for kids to explore. I loved seeing Cafe Du Monde in the park!
David Litrenta
I thought any park trying to top Central Park would be tough.
City park does a damn good job trying. Entertainment, food, natural beauty. You name it, they've got it. Walked the whole day geocaching, and still only covered half of the park.
Loved it
Jennie Tillery
Absolutely beautiful and peaceful! There is even a Cafe du Monde on sight! One of the highlights of our visit to New Orleans!
Brennan Reilly
Sculpture garden is wonderful. Park is very much improved from last visit before Katrina. Worth a visit. Gardens and paths are wheelchair accessible.
Celeste E
Beautiful for a walk, picnic, or family gathering.
Marcin Jackowski
Really beautiful and big park right in the New Orleans. Must say that it was a highlight of weekend in NoLa with unique and beautiful trees and it's natural look.
Chris
This park is huge! It has a lot of things to do and see. We have discovered this place from staying at an AirBnB. Our host has told us about it. We came here to look at it. We also found a Cafe de Monde. Since the one on french quarter was already closed when we got to NOLA. We spent about an hour here. Also we parked here for free to ride the tram to go downtown. It is very convenient way to park and not worry about the high cost of parking. We will explore the park more next time we come.
Trennon Bird
Such a great park! Worth the trip to the city any time. The sculpture garden is beautiful. Everything was clean and parking was easy. The kids had a blast.
Angela Dang
Nice walk around here. Lovely place to visit & get away from the craziness at French quarter. Lots of palm trees. Saw 2 lime trees & found this tiny lime & hidden lady bug behind the leave.
Erika Smith
This is my happy place. I've been here twice and never fully explored all it has to offer. The mossy trees, magnolia and plumeria scenting the air, everything about it embodied my expectations of the south. I love the 24 hr coffee shop and watching the birds in the morning. Playgrounds for the kids are nice and many walking paths to enjoy. Definitely a New Orleans treasure.
Jason Kostansek
An absolutely beautiful park. Dotted with museums, sculpture, gardens and things to do. Too big to see it all in one day. The moss draped live oaks give welcome shade from the hot New Orleans sun. The waterways revealing an abundance of life as you wind your way to Cafe Du Monde.
Sarah Jannette
We love going here to enjoy the trails, wildlife, and flowers in bloom. Sometimes it can become a little overgrown and have trash issues but that might just be covid consequences. Regardless we still overlook those things because everything else makes up for it.
James Aderman
This is a large park with fields, lakes, museums, restaurants, walking paths, golf course, and more. We spent most of a day here. It requires more time to see everything.
Jenn Kerwin
Everything is awesome when it comes to City Park! Always a fave go-to family day activity! We really enjoy the train ride. Kids are getting bigger and pretty much stick with the “big kid” rides now. My lil girl loves the lady bug ride and we def hit the bumper cars each and every time!!😉
Update: Jan 1, 2021
My best friend and I took our kids to Celebration in the Oaks on New Year’s Day. We had so much fun! We rode the train and had hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows! Ready to ring in 2021!!! 🎇
Corey Lawson
Beautiful place very big. Hidden gazebos stages botanical garden inside sculpture garden playgrounds little amusement park. Auite a gem of a park highly recommend
Brittani Barbo
We loved City Park!!! My 6yr old, my mom and I went to Carousel Gardens amusement park, Storyland and City Putt Putt. The amusement park had numerous rides including a rollercoaster, farris wheel, bumper cars, tilt-a-whirl and of course a carousel. The park was very clean. I was very surprised that that is was not crowded (we went on a Saturday) and were did not have to wait long at all.
Storyland was pretty cool. Tons of places to take cute pictures. It was not as clean as the amusement park and could really use some TLC, but still a great place.
City Putt Putt was nice. It is putt putt golf and not goofy golf so there are no crazy obstacles really.
Storyland and Carousel Gardens are connected and both close at 8pm. City Putt Putt is just across and closes at midnight. We arrived about 5pm and went through Storyland first, then rode rides, and finished by playing golf. This timeline worked out great because nothing was crowded and we did not feel rushed.
Susie Brubaker
This park is stunning. Peaceful huge. Full of Southern Oaks, a beautiful beignet cafe, Storyland and Botanical Gardens, the art museum. Wow.
Sharon Klumpp
Very large and historic park with museum, children's museum, children's rides, horse stables, tennis courts, lake, rides, clean picnic areas, and so much more!
Brenton Webb
There's no place like home, City Park was and will always be 2nd home 3rd is the Lake Front . The pictures taken in City Park last a life time.
Shree Bee
I really enjoyed the scenery and atmosphere. The sculptures are captivating and the grounds are well taken care of. The restrooms are clean and modern. I feel in love with the mirror sculpture! Mirror selfies in the park!
d t foxx
The park was very relaxing with an amusement park, children's museum, bike riding, swan paddle boats, art museum and more great place to go with a vast array of things to do. Great for just sitting and enjoying the scenery or indulging in the many activities. A gem of a park fantastic!!
Justine Pitts-Howell
On a tour city bus tour with Derek the driver. He was extremely informative.
David Hensley
This place is amazing. We had a perfectly romantic walk through the park on a beautiful day. Make sure you go early since everything closes around 5p.m. We missed out on the gardens.
Tyler Breaux
Great Art Museum. Manageable in a day. Go early in the morning and see the outdoor sculpture garden. Get an iced tea or almond Palmer in the cafe to cool off and then tour starting with the third floor.
L R
Beautiful park with majestic live oak trees and lots of space to explore and admire and appreciate both natural and landscaped greenery!
Michael D Cook Sr
Went to the drive thru Christmas lights.
Alexa W
Nice area for kids to play. Saw a wedding small and nice. Didnt care for the very long line for bathroom. Also not fair of recent flooding that may have made area nasty with trash in water. Loved the food truck wand sitting areas
Jeremiah Johnson
Everytime I come here I'm surprised how nice it is and keep saying I need to come back. Was on a different side of the park than before, near a miniature golf place and what I think is a children's book museum?- one of the best bathrooms ever! Free outdoor entrance with ac and lovely tile floors. I was in the field set up for an art market for the first time, definitely will do it again. There was even random live jazz musicians there.
Julia Lange
Great park with lots to do. Fishing on the Marconi pier has been mentioned here but we were there for a while and nothing was biting, and there is lots of moss and seaweed and debris to get caught up on. Apparently there are other places to fish there so we'll have to check those out!
David Mooney
It is a nice park with plenty of things to see and do, it is huge. There are beautiful sculptures and architecture, I would just like to see them better maintained (maybe pressure washed). This park has everything from buildings to cafes and even an amusement park. You can definitely spend all day here since there is so much to do. It is a picturesque park, you can take amazing pictures almost everywhere.
Frank Furgal
If you're in New Orleans around Christmas time, you should make time for City Park and the Celebration in the Oaks. Great place to take the family. I recommend getting tickets straight to the gate. It's a little extra money, but you can avoid lines. The train ride is also recommend to see the whole grounds quickly.
Evan Kase
Best part - the way the amazing sculptures interacted so intuitively with the landscaping and gardens, in both the public garden and the ticketed botanical gardens. Art and nature in harmony. The Entique Alferez sculptures in the lovely botanical gardens, esp, are phenomenal.
Eldon Hernandez
Great place for an afternoon walk. If you want to get away for a Sunday afternoon to enjoy nature and some art, this is the place to go.
Teddi Knowles
Loved the SCULPTURE garden it was so beautiful!
Wanda M. Johnson-Honor'e Johnson
Our school reunion was great 👍and we had our area was set up with tables and chairs and tents.. …
David Irthum
This the best City Park I have visited. This City Park is family friendly with a museum of art, amusement area, a botanical garden, lagoon where you can rent canoes, paddle boats, bicycle rental, a children's museum, walking trails, football stadium and two restaurants.
Antonio
Very nice gardens with flowers and bushes. The carousel gardens are also equally fun with rides.
John Paul O'Loughlin
Some areas are pretty but as a whole the south area of the park seemed to be made up of mostly roads and parking lots with a few grassy areas.
Kerwin Bro
Love it ! Pretty amazing park tbh !
Regina Bradford
The park includes paddle boats a kids museum, endless ball fields, a sculpture garden, amusement park and etc etc...a must visit
Sarah Rodriguez
Huge park that you can get lost in. Cafe du monde and the botanical gardens are a must!
Kristie Cramer
Wow! Beautiful place and so much to do. Families could take days to explore City Park. Breathtaking views and plenty to do.
Matt B
Wonderful place to visit with whole family. The sculpture park was lots of fun and then at the big lake there is bike and boat rentals as well as plenty of space to get out of the sun.
TLS
One of the most beautiful parks that offer many things to do. My family and I did not get to see as much as we would have liked to. We stopped here as part of our tour briefly, we will see it better when we return. Cafe Du Monde sits within the park so that was a plus.
Brenda
Beautiful park and grounds. So much to do! Very nice Botanical gardens I spent hours in the garden taking some fabulous pictures.
Tanya Bryant
Breath-taking!! Easily accessible by transit (bus and street car). Beautiful well-maintained park with plenty of spaces to stop and enjoy the view. Morning Call Coffee Stand is open 24 hours and serves coffee, beignets and many savoury eats as well. Next to New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), you can walk through the outdoor sculpture garden for free/by donation.
The oak trees covered in Spanish moss are stunning.
Dean Ridgel
It’s a beautiful park. Hopefully the city New Orleans doesn’t ruin it.
Shahed Uddin
This park is absolutely beautiful! Spent more than 3 hrs with family
James Davis
Café olé and bignets without the downtown tourist crowd and the sculpture gardens are superb!
Will Rightblank
It's like trying to describe heaven. I've been going to this park all of my life and it keeps getting better. The creation and expansion of the Art Garden, The Museum of Art, Miniature Golf, Carousel Gardens, canoeing in and around the Big Lake and now the Childrens Museum make it worth many stops now and forever. I love this place with all of my heart.
Lisa V
Something for everyone. We took a walk on the nature trail (Couterie Forest) in the morning, spotting birds and a large alligator and then visited the art museum.
Loren McClaflin
I lived in NOLA many years, and didn't appreciate City Park's beauty until I came back to visit this weekend.
Whether cycling, strolling, picnicking, or gathering with family and friends, City Park is a beautiful place to spend an hour or a day.
Melody Warren
Celebration in the Oaks is absolutely awesome. Not only do you get great exercise walking all over you get to see some amazing lights!! The carousel and train is a must no matter what your age is!!
Michael LaFrance
City Park has come a loooong way since Katrina. It has become a world-class park. You can tell they spend a lot of time on all the little things to make it a great experience. The flowering fields this weekend were stunning and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA is a must-see. It's free and has some really innovative sculptures along with a few great classics. I'm not sure if the train was running this weekend, but that has always been one of my favorite things to do, especially if you are there with kids.
Rebekah Chamberlin
Really well kept, pretty park. Lots of pretty trees and flowers. The sculpture garden was pretty to walk around. I enjoyed the fauna more than the sculptures though.
Brad Bloesser
Beautiful park with lots to see and do! I will be back another time to explore the park more. There are some very neat art exhibits to see!
berta z
Huge beautiful lots to do and and a real get away from the city. Enjoy those ancient oaks and and you Can find a quiet place to contemplate the beauty of God's creation.
Sarah Wright
City Park is a must-do component of a trip to New Orleans, especially if you enjoy being active, appreciating art, or have smaller kiddos.
It’s clear that major renovations and improvements have been done in the past couple years. This park is beautiful, well-kept, and has more than a day’s worth of activities.
A couple of highlights:
~the sculpture garden is 5 acres of outdoor art and admission is free
~boats are available for rental at a low price on the lake
~only 3 miles from the French Quarter, which made for a nice run along Esplanade (we Ubered back)
Gordon Clifford
Beauty of giant oak trees with a botanical and sculpture garden. Quiet getaway from the noise if New Orleans. Huge park as big as Central Park in NYC
Hannah Joy
The trees are fantastically beautiful. The stream and bridge had us crooning about it's beauty. We also especially enjoyed the Putt Putt course.
Dave Rogers

I really loved the sculpture garden and the overall landscaping is very well kept. I didn't get to see the entire park it's so huge but I did enjoy the swan boat rides. Really fun and cute.

LOVE. this park has so much to offer: Louisiana Children’s Museum, Cafe dú Monde, New Orleans Museum of Art, the Pelican Greenhouse (they have awesome plant sales), and so much more!
I often go here for runs or for some beignets and walks to see the pretty oak trees and nature.
fun fact: this park is twice the size of New York’s Central Park!
David Dushman
Very large city park with lovely old trees. Multiple playgrounds walking trails a botanical garden, a small theme park plus a story time park with characters from various nursery rhymes which young children love. The entry fee is $4 for adults and children over 3 ft tall. During Christmas the park is decorated with Christmas lights. Definitely recommend a visit.
Suzie Q
The trees are just beautiful. Ponds, playground, even a coffee house. The right area even has small hiking trails with rope swings.
Charisma Jefferson

Uncle Benito
Not too crowded lots of places to walk and breath fresh air, some parts were being maintained and some google aided walking paths were blocked
Greg Caro
Port-a-Pottys are filthy and not emptied for at least 2 consecutive weekends for the Cross Country races held there...and they are 350 meters away in a parking lot, NO tissue paper. Unacceptable for the price schools are paying to rent the course for races, while sometimes having to share it with Frisbee Golfers
Robert Owens
Really liking how the city seems to disappear from the interior of this park. Lots to do and see and uncrowded on a week day. Except for the tour busses.
James Cullifer
Beautiful place, and great place to spend a lazy Sunday. Flowers were in bloom and it was just an overall great day. Will be back to explore more for sure!

Walking in Couturie Forest with my dog, Pepper, to sit on the bench dedicated to Phil's memory. Looking out at the water...so tranquil and calm in the trees.
Angela R. Hunt
Gorgeous park! I think I have found my favorite place in New Orleans. Beautiful trails, friendly volunteers working diligently to care for the park. Loved Scout Island and the Couture Arboretum. Appreciated seeing well over thirty turtles sunning themselves, having a young white crane casually lead me past an 800 year old oak tree.

Part of the treasures of New Orleans. Great at any time of the year. Spectacular in full bloom or Christmas holiday lights. Museum ... sculpture garden... kid's playland ... carousel ... and more.
Put down the hurricane and get yourself to a different Louisiana experience.

Beautiful park. If you want Beignets from Cafe Du Monde, get them here. It is a beautiful setting and you won't wait forever in a line. If we had known how great it is, we would have planned to stay here the whole day.

Perfect place to get out the house. Enjoy the beautiful scenery this park has to offer from ponds to massive Oak trees while having a picnic with family/friends/solo. They also have multiple rentals such as bikes, boats, etc. Also activities throughout the area and festivals. Cleaning stations are offered.
