Beautiful location with amazing beaches. Filled with volleyball nets up and down the beaches. You can play on any of them anytime. Plenty of areas to beach and play in the ocean. Parking can be tricky if you don't get there and get a spot. But 2 hours is the typical amount for a parking meter. Lots of great food options in the area. The Strand path is amazing. This path extends all along the beaches from pier to pier. Bathrooms located throughout. Check out the houses along the path. Amazing and beautiful. Lots of creative builds.

This was really a nice place to go with the family. There's a little aquarium exhibit on the pier and my daughter loved it! The water in the ocean was also such a great temp. The beach was fairly kept up too. Best of all they have washing stations! Perfect to de-sand yourself when it's time to go. Also have bathrooms.

Beautiful pier with great views. There are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy. Restrooms were clean at the pier. Netball area is huge and clean. The water is a bit brown though at the time of our visit. Great shops around for shop and variety of food options too.

Probably my favorite place on earth! I just enjoy sitting on the beach and doing nothing. Restrooms are very close and there are lots of food options. I always have pleasant experience whenever I go there. Highly recommend. Great vibes and amazing sunsets!

Beautiful place and beautiful pier. Awesome pictures from underneath. Beautiful walkways bikeways and gigantic sand beach that goes on for miles. This place has so many volleyball nets they appear to go on forever there's hundreds of them. Built in the 1800s this is an icon and they must see. 8 minutes from LAX airport A+

This is a lovely walk after eating at 1 of the eateries or just to catch the sunset beautiful view of the ocean and if you're lucky like we were you'll catch some dolphins at play. At the end of the pier is a small visitors and child friendly museum aquarium which houses small but mighty friends of the ocean. Without knowing it it's a great learning experience for adults and children alike it doesn't take long I suggest leaving a couple books in the donation pot to keep it going it's also a nice addition to the walk on the pier it's actually why we went to Manhattan to begin with and it's free. The staff is friendly and helpful.

A great area for shopping and dining. The pier is nice and a good distance out into the ocean. There are lots of boutique shops nearby as well. A must go to if you're near by. Lots of good boutique hotels in the area. A safe area never had an issue while out and about in Manhattan Beach. Parking can be an issue as with any Beach City but with diligence you'll find somewhere to park safely.

A must see and fun day at the pier. Water is warm and you can walk out pretty far on Sand shelf. Plenty of parking on weekdays. Weekend...go early to secure parking. Handicap accessible parking as well.

One of the prettiest places to see the sunset! And the pier was very pretty! You can also walk to restaurants near-by. Good for a Sunday afternoon plans! Parking was fairly easy!

Review for January 30th 2022. The Manhattan Beach Pier is located in Manhattan California. It was a wonderful day and the weather was good. There were a lot of people here today for a Sunday but I managed to find parking nevertheless. The pier is pretty short but interesting enough, there is an aquarium at the end of the pier. Inside the pier you can find some fish and marine life local to the area. I'm not guilty, to say that I absolutely appreciate the California coastline is being open for the public. The people here are nice and the Sea Breeze felt great.

Nice place!!! Love the lights at Christmas time. I love how police is there but the problem is that there are people TOTALLY ignoring the signs of no dogs allowed. They just walk on the pier like nothing is wrong. 🙄 …

Great experience! Best time is 5pm where you'll see the sunset, and head out to the restaurant after. While I was there, a couple held their vows there, beautiful and heart warming. Best wishes to the couple. #benjaminchua

I can say anytime we visit the Manhattan beach pier we always have a great time & a great view. The day seems to go by so smooth when your down by the ocean starring at the water. If you're a tourist, make this one of your places to visit.

Pictures can only show so much, go spend a sunset at the pier it’s beautiful. I usually reverse my car in the smaller parking lot and enjoy the sunset with the family. Loads of restaurants around, beach is clean and the pathway is peaceful.

Beautiful and clean pier with very relaxed atmosphere. There's a mini aquarium at the end of pier that's free. Lots of surfers or volleyball games to watch from the pier. Minus one star because while parking is not expensive, $2/hr, it is very limited in the small parking lots or limited street parking. You will likely have to keep circling around a few times until you find something.

Great spot for doing some Beach-e-Biking on the strand! Lots of people watching To be done here too. Surfers, fisherman, runners, bicyclists and the seagulls too! Steep hill above the pier but it allows for some great views as you pedal or walk down to the pier. Be careful as that some people do ride their bikes a bit fast at times at this point of the bike path. So be sure to keep your eyes open and be aware of others while visiting.

Lovely boulevard to wander along, dog friendly, great way to walk near the beach. Great architecture in some of the houses and a lot of eco friendly landscaping. Good food and coffee nearby.

The pier at Manhattan Beach is pretty well known for its volleyball courts, space to put beach stuff down, decent waves and a great view from the pier. It's usually pretty packed here, surfers come and go a lot, and there's always people taking photos with professionals. Parking can be a little tough, but it's not too expensive if you find a close spot. Tickets come quick here so make sure to be on top of paying.

I had the opportunity to go in the evening. It Aquarius had a Hunting stunning appeal. There is street parking and meter parking in the area. Depending on the season there may be parking close to the pier or far. The are is close to a lot of bars and restaurants so there is plenty to see and do in the area. I can imagine the place has to be breath taking during sunset for pictures.

Oldest concrete pier on the west coast, check it out. It's got a small aquarium at the end. The lights were turned green for St Patty's day, very nice detail.

My 30 something daughter's friend had a daytime birthday beach bash with tents, a DJ, great food with great friends. As a people watcher I stayed to enjoy my solitude in the midst of people of all cultures vibing together. Volleyball, bicyclists 🚴‍♀️, rollerskaters, families, babies, dogs, couples & more. Just pick a spot & sit back & watch. Great place to enjoy being out & about.

Very nice pier! The lights made it extra nice during the nighttime and they even have a little aquariam including fish, small sharks and a touching tank!

A great beach and surf overview spot! Here I’ve often gone for a walking break in between riding my bike along the beachfront bike path. It’s always nice to see this upscale stretch of coast from a slightly out at sea view. While a boat view may be better, the pier is high, dry and steadfast, without the all the motion! There’s a relaxed sense of presence here, as pier goers stroll along, sightseeing, surveying the surf and fishing. The free aquarium at the end of the pier is well worth a visit, if not to pose with the shark. There’s a restroom around to the right of the aquarium entrance, as well as by the beginning of the pier, at the beach.

Even in september water is warm. But because of its waves, only surfing is recommended. Not the best for swimming but it is still possible if you strongly want.

Very good place to visit if It happens to be close by. Relatively clean for California. It’s an easy walk to the pier and you can walk on the beach or the walkway. You can also walk to downtown from here where all the restaurants and boutiques are located. The pier is smaller but this does not make it any worse than Santa Monica or other busy piers near by. I find Manhattan Beach Pier the quintessential California beach town.

One of the most beautiful piers in California finally finished in 1920. It has remained and restored with retention in mind. I’m giving it 4 stars because they took the old coin operated telescopes off the pier they had so much character they are truly missed.

Nice view of beach and ocean. Plenty space on beach to surf tan walk etc. Parking was not too difficult to find . Bicycles can be a nuisance. Some drive out on the pier one must be vigilant.

one of the nicest beaches in California I would recommend coming here there is one negative thing about this beach and that is that its kind of hard to het parking near the beach but it does have 2 or 3 parking garage near it so you still can find parking but you do have to walk a bit.

I really enjoyed visiting the pier/beach here. It was a nice area that seemed to almost be off the beaten path for typical LA tourists. This is a nice area to come enjoy the sunset and have dinner nearby.

Smaller, obviously, than Santa Monica pier, but if you can find a spot between the fishermen it has all that relaxation that comes with gazing out over the Pacific, whatever time of day you're there. The aquarium at the end is free (donations requested) but really just for kids and will take less than 10 minutes to walk through.

The weather was great for a mini escape from AZ! There was even a small little intimate beach wedding under the pier which was cute to witness. This beach could use more parking availability but all in all as long as you time it right it's a peacefull, laid back a family friendly. Last weekend they also had a bunch of the sand volleyball nets up next to the pier.

We love this place. Such a beautiful area with a nice boardwalk, beach and pier. There's fishing on the pier, so it's a little fishy and dirty, but a nice place to walk out and see the water up close. You can also clean your fish there at the cleaning station. It's a landmark where you can have your group meet up. Overall Manhattan Beach is great!

Manhattan Beach is beautiful! It has to be one of the cleanest beaches I have seen. The Pier isn't large, but it's well maintained. There us a small aquarium at the end of the Pier, but check the hours before you go.

I just love the Manhattan Beach Pier. It is so beautiful and full of life. A lot of people will be around walking and riding bikes. There are some of the best restaurants right before the pier starts that have fabulous views of the pier. There is also a fun & free aquarium at the end of the pier.

Even with a very prominent marine layer, the beach was lovely. Not a lot of people being Thursday late morning, and that made it even better. Such an expansive beach, relatively clean and tidy. Decent public restrooms which aren't too bad. Weekends would be chaotic and oh so popular, for good reason. I hope to visit again soon.

A simple pier in a beautiful city! The pier offers great views of the beach, surfers, and the Pacific Ocean. The pier does have a small aquarium at the end that was by reservation only when we were there. The surrounding city was so pretty with the houses, missions, and restaurants. We would definitely go back to this area!

I thought this was Redondo Beach Pier, and been posting that I've been walking to Redondo Beach Pier. lol nonetheless I enjoy walking in this area from Hermosa Beach pier or a little bit past it from 1st Street to here, and back to 1st Street. This is a great place to walk, and get your exercise on. Just be at the pier before 10:00 p.m. as you won't be able to get to the end as the gates will be closed.

This is an awesome beach. No very crowded, although it was middle of the week in January. The beach was very clean, we’re got to watch some surfers having fun. One of the nicest places along the California coastline. It has a little aquarium on the pier with a touching pool for kids and lots of shops and restaurants for tourists up the street from the boardwalk. My dog loves to pull me on my longboard there. Another Great Southern California beach pier. Definitely a place to visitor for both locals and out of town visitors. This is a happening place. For people who just want to enjoy walking around, the pier provides plenty of walking. At the end of the pier, there is an aquarium showing all types of local marines lives. A great place for taking the kids here on the weekend. For the people who like to eat, there are many very good restaurants here near the pier. The Strand, Rock and Fish and the Nick’s are few of my favorites. For the active people, you can ride bikes around here although not on the pier. There are also many beach activities here such as valley ball and surfing. For parking, there are many public parking garages around the pier and on the street with meter parkings.

Amazing view. Clean. So clean. I was shocked actually. Great facilities for the public. I guess it could use sum more showers. The views were just breathtaking. Highly recommend. All of the food and shopping near by was great prices as well. Again also shocked. First time visit to the Pacific coast and won't be the last, glad it was here.

So we drove to La of course went down Hollywood Boulevard and decided to go to the beach where else Malibu was beautiful of course!! While we were there The sun hadn't really lift it over the mountains completely yet and one of the locals had told us to go to this place called Manhattan Beach.. of course being smart we listen to the locals and went there and it was fantastic parking was a little hard just keep at it you'll find some the beach in the pier were amazing and there's restaurants all over the area. Yes I said it better than Malibu!!!!

I grew up surfing here back in the 1980s. Now in 2023 it is still as beautiful as I remembered it. Manhattan Beach is the quintessential All American surf beach. I highly recommend visiting.

We spent a night here and we were able to walk around the dock. There are boats coming and going all day. Lots of people watching too. We did not get out on a boat. We enjoyed the different modes of transportation in this area. All the different boats and jets flying in and out. Very nice place to visit.

The parking is a disaster, but once you get to the beach everything is worth it. I recommend park farther up on Manhattan beach blvd and walk down the street. There are plenty of restaurants that’s open even during shelter in place(with outdoor seating). And don’t forget to get ice cream from Manhattan beach creamery before you leave!

Manhattan Beach Pier is such a beautiful spot to come and relax with family, friends or loved one's... The lower level parking fills up pretty quick in the AM because of the surfers. There are two upper lots, unfortunately there are only one handicapped parking space and roughly 8-14 spaces. Besides those locations try street parking but beware, parking enforcement is on point, so pay the meter...👍😊

Awesome sights and clean sand. I didn't realize it is the oldest pier on the West Coast. Today, they were preparing it for Christmas with plenty of lights and Christmas trees. The roundhouse was closed while I was there, so not sure how that is. Plenty of food options near by as well.

This is such a beautiful beach! I love coming here just to get out and enjoy the day. There is shopping, restaurants and bars and such unique houses to look at while walking or riding your bike. You can play volleyball on the beach walk down the pier or go surfing.

Very nice beach and pier, just 5 miles from LAX. Beautiful place to witness the magnificent Pacific ocean. Bright blue skies, perfect weather, sun beating down and waves crashing into you. Strand leads to a small aquarium. Nice food scene. Plenty of parking 0.2 miles away : street parking and paid parking garage for 3 hrs available.

What can I say, the pier and beach are my home away from home. Even on the pre-pandemic busy days you could always find a spot to soak up some sun on the beach. The restaurants that line Manhattan Beach Blvd are great for a quick bite or a full sit down experience. (Indoor dining once the pandemic is behind us of course) Parking can be tricky. Do yourself a favor, unless you’re super early stay away from the actual “beach” parking lots. They get full fast and can have traffic backed up for a good while. Try street parking a few blocks west past Highland, heck maybe even up to Valley Dr. it’s a nice walk, and your stress level will thank you.

Really nice walk down the pier especially during the Holidays because of the all the decorations you get to see along the pier. Family friendly beach and people enjoy walking their dogs along the boardwalk as well ! Many bikers along the sidewalk trails! Definitely worth seeing

What a beautiful little town snuggled against the Pacific Coastline. We spent our last few hours of our extended vacay in California walking the streets and visiting the beach. The shops close to the pier range from shoes places to ice cream. The hills are very steep so if you aren't an active person make sure you drive down here. Very physical place to walk. Theres a beautiful aquarium at the end of the pier. Its free but donations are suggested. The view from the pier is captivating and made me fall in love with Cali all over again. The blue skies fade into blue water. We stayed near the beach till sunset. Which happened to be on Valentines day so we grabbed a few chocolate covered strawberries and cuddled up and sat in each other arms and watch the sunset out on the ocean. My best valentine's day ever. It was unforgettable!!! Definitely worth taking the time to check this out.

Visited this place on 20 October 2018 along with my son n his friend, its 15 minutes drive from his house it was around 12 pm ,though it was sunny , there was cool breeze, watched people n children playing in water, some surfers probably new learners stayed at a near distance n surfing in the water. Small, but beautiful pier with amazing views of Manhattan Beach and South Bay. On clear days you can see from Malibu to Catalina Island. The water is so clear and clean, and there are usually always surfers on either side of the pier that are fun to watch catching waves. There are plenty of benches on the pier to take it easy and take in the views. The small aquarium at the end of the pier is cool, especially if you have little kids. There is decent metered parking near the pier, and some of the best shopping and dining in Manhattan Beach is just a short walk away.

It’s a nice cement pier (only one on the West Coast) and the special twist is that there is actually a small Aquarium at the end of it - and it’s free to enter. Yes, a two story aquarium! Manhattan Beach is the place to be in L.A. even during the pandemic. Shops are still open within COVID guidelines and make great effort to sanitize everything, people are socially distanced but still enjoying the beach, and outdoor dining is open unlike other areas such as Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier. Highly recommend a visit to Manhattan Beach and Pier if you're in the area!

Great for kids playing in the sand, walking in the water along the shore line, playing some volleyball, etc. This particular end is not really available for swimming, but more for surfing and relaxing. There are signs posted everywhere that says no swimming, but it's a very nice beach and you do have to pay by meter for parking, which is quite limited. There are beautiful homes along the Beach which adds to the ambience of the area.

Stopped here for dinner while on a business trip. It's a convenient 15 minute drive along the coast from the LAX hotel district. There is a nice paved walking path along the beach to enjoy especially in the evening. I would visit again.

This pier is awesome. It even has an Aquarium where a 40 year old yellow eel lives. That is 10 more years then most eels lives when in the ocean. I think this pier is also dope for surfing cause it changes the bottom of the ocean in a way that there are usually some very pretty decent waves here.

Beautiful pier we had a meeting for work down the street so I decided to show up early and walk to the beach to relax my mind. The pier is a small one but great views of Manhattan beach and also great place to walk run or cycle. Should the need arise for more exploring to take place, the surrounding neighborhood is cram packed with all kinds of fun establishments. If you wish to go the length of the pier you shall find a well put together aquarium. This aquarium has a great selection of animals. Especially for it's size. Moody, joyful, and beautiful evening at the beach. Being from Florida I'm accustomed to crowded beaches and social distancing despite COVID. I was surprised but glad to see the exact same thing here in LA. There was a lot of happiness and what looked like good conversations 💓 The nearby restaurants seemed to all have seating outside in the street and it was set up with plexiglass shields and super busy.

I loved it here. Finding parking was so bad but I guess you have to be lucky to find a parking spot. It was amazing to walk all the way to the end of the pier and seeing how beautiful the ocean is. This is a great place to go to see the sunset. The views from the pier are stunning and looking back you get a great perspective of the city/ town. We were here in the evening and it was a bit chilly for CA so not a ton of folks on the beach but their were a couple of surfers which was fun to watch. At the end of the pier is also an aquarium which is fun. The houses near the beach are beautiful so it is fun to walk around to get a closer look.

It's clean, the parking situation is not great but there is a parking structure 2 blocks away. There is a miniature aquarium at the end of the pier. The bike path will take you all the way to south Redondo or as north as Santa Monica.

One of the must-see beaches if you're visiting LA. The beach itself is awesome. It isn't as busy as Venice beach. I think most of the people here were locals to the area. Manhattan Beach Blvd was lined with restaurants and shops if you need anything. The waves looked pretty good for surfing. The pier has a changing station on one end for people wanting to swim, and an aquarium on the other end which is really neat. This area is one of my more memorable places from my trip to LA so I'll definitely be here again next time I'm around.

Really love this beach location just like in the movies. Came mid afternoon. Hard to get parking. Have to play the wait game for open parking space. The waves were strong and the edge of the beach shore steps made the waves enjoyable on a hot day. A lot space to lay out. Bring sandals since it's a good walking distance to reach the waves. The have shower stations outside to wash sand away and restrooms to change.

The best beach and pier amongst all other beaches I have visited in SoCal. The view from the pier goes all the way from Malibu down to the beaches in the orange county area and is probably one of the most complete socal views someone can get.The Christmas lighting is so beautiful and definitely worth a visit @ this time of the year. This beach is studded with more than a couple dozen volleyball nets. Having visited this beach since 2010, I have played volleyball in this beach so many times. I have also been able to get parking with ease on most of my visits in the past.

Parking was a breeze, beach want overly crowded. My visit was on such a strange day for the weather, it drastically turned on me but it was still a very enjoyable time! Bathrooms are all around clean enough, just way too wet. The day I visited it wasn't really warm enough to get in the ocean, but several people did so I imagine that's why bathrooms were so soggy. I used to live out in LA county, so I came to visit some places that I never got a chance to see when I did live here. Manhattan Beach is the last on my list, and it was well worth the visit! This is my happy place!!! I come here all the time! Views are beautiful! Lots of bars, restaurants, and small shops/boutiques. You can either sit or walk on the sand. There’s the strand which is a walking path along the beach that goes from Venice beach all the way to Redondo Beach with views of beautiful houses and the beach view. I always grab a slice of pizza, can of soda, and walk down to the beach to watch the sunset with my friend. Definitely recommend this as one of your stops during your trip to LA. If you live out here, make it your Saturday plans :)

Came here on a Monday around 4pm. There is plenty of parking near the pier. You do have to pay. Not so crowded which I loved plus they have an aquarium which is neat on the pier. You can surf as well. There’s volleyball courts too. There's some nice restaurants near the beach.

The pier offers great views of the beach. Parking is available right next to the pier and you can use your credit card to pay. You can watch the sun rise or set on the pier. There are benches to sit on. The surfers tend to gather by the pier so you can watch them surf below. There is a public restroom at the end of the pier. Wear your mask when walking on the pier - signs are posted!

People fishing from the pier. Surfers as far as the eye can see. There were 54 sand volleyball courts on either side of the pier. Lots of people out for walks, runs, bike rides etc. There were many dogs with their owners in this area. Most businesses were pet friendly. This is just a very nice area to spend time enjoying the outdoors.

it's a pier, so it naturally has scenic views. Manhattan Beach claims to be the birthplace of beach volleyball, and all along the walk of the pier has "volley stars" for each year of the tournament at the adjacent courts. best coastal viewing is on days right after a rain or with a strong offshore flow. the "Santa Ana" days make for pretty sunsets, but less than optimal air quality. compared to other piers, what was notable on my visit was the lack of fisherpeople at the end, apparently the pollution is of the levels that the fish are unsafe to eat, or the MBPD go hard with gentrification and keep them away, not sure which.🤷‍♂️

One of the cleanest and safest beaches I have been to. Beautifully kept and well maintained. Love the No Smoking ban👍🏻. It’s definitely a locals beach but for California (LA area) we felt completely safe. Usually beaches near LA are full of homeless, debris & unsavory characters but NOT here. You can tell people there take pride of their beach town and I love that!

The Manhattan Beach Pier is a gathering place for many awesome, friendly people. I haven't been to the aquarium at the end of the pier yet, but plan to go soon. I hear it's really nice. During the day people stroll up and down the pier, visit the aquarium, and watch the sunbathers and the surfers on either side of the pier. Just the other day when I was on the beach on north side of the pier and was upended by a crazy wave, once I was able to get my feet under me and stand up through my tears of laughter, I could see people on the pier watching me and cheering me on! Lol! It was a really funny thing for me.

A very good beach. It has a pier which is nice for taking some photos. A large sandy beach with sport facilities. Walking trail. Biking is also possible. Many bars and restuarants are available nearby. There are a few public parking available with $2.5 per hour. All in all, I recommend to visit this place during the day time.

Love this place, go visit the aquarium with your friends and family! It's a small fun 20 minute in and out aquarium. Great to bring people who are visiting and get out in the sun. Plenty of benches to sit on on the pier, and they do decorative lighting for major US holidays. They have plaques for volleyball tournament winners all along the piers, with many olympic gold medalists. Fantastic views of the coast too...highly recommend!

The 2022 AVP Manhattan Beach Open was entertaining! Weather started overcast but sun was shining by 1pm. The women's final came down to the final set with 5 straight points for the comeback win. The men's final was one-sided for the back-to-back champs. Good times!
